‘State govt trying to kill me for raising voice against their corrupt ministers’: BJP leader Mohit Kamboj says his car was attacked by Shiv Sena goons

Maharashtra BJP leader Mohit Kamboj alias Bharatiya has said that Shiv Sena goons attacked his car late on Friday (April 22) night in the Kalanagar area of Mumbai’s Bandra suburb. The BJP leader has also filed a complaint with the Mumbai police in this regard. Kamboj had once alleged that Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) ministers have links with “drug mafias”.

Matoshree, Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray’s private residence, is located in Kalanagar. The area is currently witnessing a gathering of hundreds of Shiv Sainiks to thwart an attempt by Independent Lok Sabha MP Navneet Rana and her MLA husband Ravi Rana to recite the Hanuman Chalisa on Saturday morning.

Kamboj, who is a former General Secretary of BJP Mumbai and former president of BJP Yuva Morcha claimed that the incident took place on Friday when he was returning from a marriage. “I had gone to attend a wedding and while returning home, my vehicle stopped at a road signal in Kalanagar area. Suddenly, a mob of a few hundred attacked my vehicle and broke its glasses and damaged the door handles,” Kamboj said in a video statement.

The BJP leader claimed that the attack was an attempt to kill him as he had exposed corruption in the BMC (which is ruled by the Sena) and raised his voice against ‘corrupt ministers’ like Nawab Mallik. “This was an attempt to kill me by Shiv Sena and Maharashtra CM, so as to suppress my voice. Will see what action will be taken by Mumbai Police. Everything is recorded on CCTV,” said Kamboj.

“Governance in Maharashtra proving to be worse than Bengal. Opposition leaders who expose corrupt ministers like Nawab Malik are being attacked by the state govt…I condemn it,” he added.

Shrikant Tara Pandit Bharatiya, the OSD to Ex-Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis, uploaded a photo of the BJP leader’s car’s smashed side view mirror and broken handle of the driver’s gate on Twitter.

Videos of the incident have also circulated on Twitter showing the BJP leader’s car stopping on the side of the road by a traffic cop. Some people are seen running after the car as it speeds away seconds later.

The BJP leader Mohit Kamboj himself took to Twitter to re-share videos of the incident posted by various social media users and media agencies. He also shared a copy of the complaint filed by him with the Mumbai Police. He Tweeted in Hindi that roughly translates to, “The attack on me yesterday was a part of a plot to kill me. I have filed a complaint with the Mumbai Police, and my demand is that an FIR is filed and that the perpetrators be prosecuted as soon as possible. If the Maharashtra government is intimidating me, I want them to know that I am not frightened of them!”

It may be noted that, following Raj Thackeray’s stand on the Azaan row, Mohit Kamboj had started distributing loudspeakers to temples on the occasion of Hanuman Janmotsav on 16th April 2022. Kamboj had said that more than 1,000 loudspeakers will be distributed in temples in the state on the occasion of Hanuman Janmotsav. He has also invited applications for the same from the entire country. He had then, in an interview with Aaj Tak, been quite critical of the Maha Vikas Agadi government in the state on matters such as atrocities against Hindus in Maharashtra and its bias in issuing guidelines on the loudspeaker issue.

Mohit Kamboj alias Bharatiya is the same BJP leader who had recently alleged that Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) ministers have links with “drug mafias”. He claimed that Maharashtra minister Aslam Shaikh used to invite drug peddler Kashiff Khan, the MD of Fashion TV India, to his events. Kashiff Khan’s name had surfaced in connection with the Mumbai cruise narcotics seizure case, in which Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan was arrested last year.

Last year, following the arrest of Aryan Khan in the drug case, when the Nationalist Congress Party leader and Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik has been casting aspersion on Narcotics Control Bureau zonal director Sameer Wankhede and others, Mohit Kamboj aka Bharatiya had filed a Rs 100-crore defamation suit against him at Bombay High Court.

Kamboj has alleged that the minister made false allegations against him and his family members in connection to the Cordelia cruise drug bust case in which Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan was arrested along with others by the NCB on October 2, under section Section 27A of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. Kamboj had given enough opportunity and warnings to Malik to restrain from defaming him which Malik ignored and continued the vendetta.

Nawab Malik, whose son-in-law Sameer Khan was also arrested by NCB in a separate drug case, has been holding press conferences on a daily basis to make new charges like the soap opera. The NCP chief spokesperson also levelled various allegations against Kamboj and his family. He said that Rishab Sachdeva, the brother-in-law of Kamboj and two others were let off by the NCB despite they were present during the alleged rave party on the cruise. Malik claimed that they were detained by NCB and released later on. Kamboj had earlier issued a notice to Malik on October 9 asking him to desist from making defamatory statements. But Malik on October 11 again repeated the same allegation while talking to some news channels. Kamboj sent him a second legal notice on the same day and asked him to prove the allegations.

On Oct 26, Kamboj filed a criminal complaint before the Court of Metropolitan Magistrate at Mazgaon requesting the court to take legal action against Malik under sections 499 and 500 (defamation) of the IPC.

Ghaziabad: Man accused of spitting on rotis, Uttar Pradesh police takes cognisance. Watch video

On Friday (April 22), a video of a man ‘spitting’ on rotis went viral on social media. The contentious video was posted by MSB news and was purportedly shot during a wedding ceremony in Modinagar town in the Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh.

In the 2 minutes 20-second long video clip, the cook could be seen leaning forward and ‘spitting’ on the dough. The accused then proceeded to knead the dough and prepare rotis. Given that the video was shot in the dark, Opindia could not independently verify the authenticity of the video.

While posting the video, MSB News tagged Ghaziabad police, UP police and UP Viral check on the micro-blogging site.

While taking cognisance of the matter, Ghaziabad police tweeted, “Inspector-in-charge of Modinagar town has been directed to take appropriate action in the matter.” This is however not the first time that a man was found spitting on the food in the district.

Past incidents of cooks spitting on food in Ghaziabad

In March 2021, the Ghaziabad police arrested a man named Mohammad Mohsin, after a video of him spitting on rotis at a wedding ceremony, went viral on Twitter. The cops informed that they had registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the youth and were interrogating him in connection to the case.

Moreover, the police had also booked the caterers, who were given the contract for the wedding. The incident purportedly took place on March 11 in the Bhojpur area of Ghaziabad district.

In November last year, another video surfaced where a cook was seen spitting on the dough at an engagement ceremony in Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh. The video of the incident was shared on Twitter by Sudarshan News.

The news channel said that the video was probably from Muradnagar in Uttar Pradesh, where the youth named Shadab Miya was spitting on the dough while cooking tandoori roti. It urged the Ghaziabad police to confirm the authenticity of the video.

The Ghaziabad police, in turn, responded by confirming that as soon as the video came to their notice, the Muradnagar police took cognisance of the issue and registered a case against the accused. They added that Shadab Miya was arrested and sent to jail.

In another case from Ghaziabad, one of the cooks at a ‘Muslim Hotel’ was detained by the police for spitting on the dough while making tandoori roti. In the video of the act which went viral on the microblogging site, the man was wearing a white skull cap. A complaint in this regard was filed by Hindu Raksha Dal at Loni Police Station.

Mumbai Police serves notice to MP Navneet Rana, husband for planning to recite Hanuman Chalisa outside ‘Matoshree’, Shiv Sena workers issue threats

The Mumbai police have sent a notice to Member of Parliament Navneet Rana and her husband MLA Ravi Rana after the couple said that they would recite Hanuman Chalisa outside Matoshree, the residence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Udhav Thackeray in Mumbai.

According to the reports, Maharashtra independent MLA Ravi Rana had announced that they would recite Hanuman Chalisa outside ‘Matoshree’, the private residence of Thackeray, on Saturday. The husband-wife duo had arrived in Mumbai on Friday morning.

However, Shiv Sena workers gathered at various locations in Mumbai, including Matoshree, threatening the Amaravati Lok Sabha MP and her husband against reciting Hanuman Chalisa outside Matoshree. The party workers had also warned Ranas of teaching a lesson if they turned up at the spot.

The police had deployed heavy security outside Thackeray’s residence in the Kalanagar area to prevent any untoward incidents.

On Friday, a Mumbai Police team led by DCP Manjunath Singe visited the Rana residence and served them a notice from Kherwadi police station under section 149 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). As per the notice, the police have requested them not to disturb the peace and maintain the law and order situation.

The police said that the couple would be held responsible if the law-and-order situation was disturbed.

Earlier on Friday, Navneet Rana, an independent MP from Amaravati Lok Sabha, challenged Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray to recite Hanuman Chalisa. She also slammed the Maharashtra Chief Minister for not visiting the temple on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanthi. She had also dared the Shiv Sena workers to try and stop them from chanting Hanuman Chalisa outside ‘Matoshree’.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena leaders have claimed said that the couple was not “worthy” to take them on, and they would be taught a lesson if they dared to show up outside ‘Matoshree’.

Shiv Sena’s Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Raut said the recital of Hanuman Chalisa and Ram Navami celebration was a matter of faith and not a stunt.

“People like Rana are characters in the nautanki and stunt of the BJP. People don’t take this stunt seriously,” he told reporters. He described the Rana couple as ‘Bunty Aur Babli’, a reference to a Bollywood movie.

Hardik Patel says, ‘not joining BJP’ after speculations surfaced, decides to distribute copies of Bhagavad Gita as he expresses ‘hope’ from Congress

Gujarat’s Congress leader Hardik Patel said on the 22nd of April that he is not joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). There were strong rumours and speculations of his political shift after he had praised the BJP. Hardik Patel said that he still has some hope from the Congress party’s high command.

Hardik Patel said, “I have no plans to join BJP. I welcome the political decisions that have been taken by BJP recently. The party is strong in Gujarat as they have leadership with decision-making abilities. I hope the high command will listen to me.”

He further said, “The problem with the Gujarat Congress party is the leadership. I don’t have a problem with any individual leader in Gujarat. The leadership does not let anyone work, and if someone works, they stop them.”

When asked about speculations of him joining the BJP, Hardik Patel said, “I have expressed concern with the party high command, and they have assured me a decision will be taken very soon. Even when you don’t like something at home, you express you are not happy with your father and mother. I am telling the truth, so don’t think I am leaving the party.”

Praising Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its organization and decision-making abilities, Hardik Patel said, “The BJP has a good, strong base. They have the capability of making decisions. We should accept the enemy’s strength and work in that direction to fight them. The BJP is strong because they have leadership qualities and they take correct decisions. However, I have no plans to join the BJP. It is not even in my mind. We must acknowledge the strength of the enemy. They are powerful, and enemies should never be underestimated.”

Hardik Patel also said that he is a proud Hindu. He said, “We believe in Bhagwan Ram. On the anniversary of my father’s death, I am going to distribute 4,000 copies of the Bhagavad Gita. We are from Hindu Dharm, and very proud of being Hindu.”

This is not the first time that Hardik Patel has criticized the Congress party. Earlier on 14th April 2022, he had said, “My position in the party is that of a newly married groom who has been made to undergo nasbandi (sterilization).”

IPL: Jos Buttler’s 3rd century of the season powers Rajasthan to the top of the table

0

Orange cap holder Jos Buttler pulled further away at the top of the run-scoring charts in the IPL with a magnificent hundred as he powered Rajasthan Royals to a runs victory over Delhi Capitals. Buttler scored 116 off 65 balls including 9 fours and 9 towering sixes as he drove Rajasthan to a mammoth 222 for 2 in their 20 overs. In response, despite a spirited chase, Delhi fell just short ending up with 207 for 8 in their 20 overs to lose by 15 runs.

Bad luck with the toss, good luck in games for Rajasthan

Rajasthan captain Sanju Samson lost the toss for the 6th time in 7 games during this IPL, but the bad luck with the toss doesn’t seem to be stopping the Royals. Put into bat by Delhi captain Rishabh Pant, Rajasthan got off to an excellent start through Buttler and Devdutt Padikkal. Padikkal was eventually dismissed for 54 after an opening partnership of 155 in just over 15 overs. Jos Buttler wasn’t slowing down though as he completed his 3rd century of the tournament in just the 7th game.

A blistering 19 balls 46 from skipper Sanju Samson provided further impetus as Rajasthan ended up with 222 for the loss of just 2 wickets in their 20 overs. For Delhi, all the bowlers ended up being very expensive with Shardul Thakur conceding 9.7 runs per over being their most economical bowler.

Delhi Capitals’ chase

Delhi Capitals started their chase aggressively with Australian stalwart David Warner taking the attack to the Rajasthan opening bowlers. Even when he fell in the 5th over after scoring 28 off 14 balls followed quickly by Sarfaraz Khan, Delhi showed no signs of slowing down thanks to Prithvi Shaw and skipper Pant. However, once Shaw went, followed by Pant 10 balls later, Delhi was always up against it.

Even with the odds mounting against them, the impressive Lalit Yadav kept Delhi in the hunt till the end in the company of the Caribbean big hitter Rovman Powell who was mysteriously sent at number 8 behind bowling all-rounders Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur. However, once out there, Powell showed what he can do smashing 5 sixes, including 3 off successive balls in the final over from fellow Caribbean Obed McCoy.

Eventually though, the target turned out to be beyond even his reach as he got out of the last ball with Delhi 15 runs short of their target. Prasidh Krishna was the star of the show with the ball for Rajasthan conceding just 22 runs from his 4 overs in a very high-scoring match and taking the prized wickets of Warner, Pant, and a dangerous-looking Lalit Yadav.

The win pushes Rajasthan to the top of the table, while Delhi stays at number 6 in the table. Rajasthan next faces high-flying Royal Challengers Bangalore on Tuesday, while Delhi will lock horns with Kolkata Knight Riders on Thursday.

Kashmir: Youth who pelted stones at security forces drowns to death after being chased

A 20-year-old youth drowned to death in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Friday after pelting stones at the security forces.

According to the reports, a minor protest had erupted in the Magam area of Budgam after Friday prayers during which a group of youth hurled stones at the security forces. As police deployed at the spot chased after the miscreants, one of them fell and drowned in the Sukhnag Nallah of Budgam.

The authorities later retrieved the youth’s body from the Nallah. The incident pertains to the native village of slain LeT commander Yousuf Kantroo, neutralised in an encounter on Thursday.

The deceased youth, Shabar Ali, is the son of Ali Mohammed Mir, who is a resident of the Gund Hassi Bhat area in Srinagar.

Azadi slogans raised, security personnel attacked with stones outside Jama Masjid in Srinagar

While the instances of stone-pelting incidents in Kashmir have come down significantly after the abrogation of Article 370, the Jama Masjid in Srinagar, one of the largest mosques in the region, had earlier this month witnessed large throngs of crowds who had gathered for Friday prayers raising Azadi slogans and hailing Zakir Musa, the Chief of the terrorist group Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, who was killed by the Indian Army in an encounter in May 2019.

In addition to Azadi slogans, stone-pelting was also witnessed outside the mosque where personnel of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Reserve Police Force were deployed as a part of security measures to ensure the peace and tranquillity in the Valley is not disturbed.

Maldives issues decree to ban anti-India campaign “India Out”, Rahul Gandhi had blamed the Modi govt for the China-backed campaign

The Maldives government has cracked down on the opposition over a controversial “India Out” campaign against the Indian military presence in the island nation.

According to the reports, the Ibrahim Mohammed Solih-led Maldivian government has issued a decree banning anti-India protests citing threats to national security after certain pro-China opposition parties had started a controversial “India Out” campaign.

The decree, titled “Stopping Campaigns that Incite Hatred Against Various Countries Under Different Slogans”, mentions “India Out” protests as an organised campaign that aims to disrupt relations between the two countries and efforts to maintain peace and security in the region by inciting unrest.

President Ibrahim Solih has ordered all relevant authorities to implement the decree to end the anti-India campaign in the Maldives.

Issued in the Dhivehi language, the decree reads that the state has a duty to ensure the security of diplomats posted to the country and diplomatic missions. The presidential decree said while the government is committed to protecting the freedoms of expression and assembly, those behind the campaign were exploiting these freedoms for their own ends in a manner that would cause unrest in the Maldives and isolate it in the international community.

The Maldivian government also added that the “India Out” campaign intends “to incite hatred against India” and threaten the country’s national security, hindering the state’s capacity to maintain sovereignty while posing a threat to the safety and security of Maldivians living abroad.

Former President Abdulla Yameen led anti-India protests

Soon after former President Abdulla Yameen was ousted in 2018 due to his pro-China policies, an anti-India campaign was started in the island nation to incite hatred against the country. Former President Abdulla Yameen became the face of such protests, who claimed that India has been compromising the sovereignty of Maldives by interfering in its domestic affairs.

Yameen, during whose reign from 2013 to 2018 saw huge Chinese influence in the region, has once again picked up the “India Out” campaign to race his way for the Presidential elections. The presidential elections are due by September 2023.

On Wednesday, a huge “India Out” banner was also seen hanging out of Yameen’s residence in Male. Later, it was taken down by the police based on a court order.

According to Mohammed Aslam, who heads the parliamentary committee on national security, the anti-India protests are means to create large-scale unrest and instability in the entire country. They want to engineer an uprising against the government, he said.

Since President Solih was sworn in, Maldives has been trying to repair its ties with India, which had taken a hit during the Yameen regime. The government also declared an India First foreign policy. The ruling Maldivian Democratic Party had also earlier considered bringing in legislation to ban the “India Out” campaign.

The relationship between Delhi and Male has gained momentum, with the two countries signing a security cooperation pact. India is also helping the Maldives in fighting terrorism and extremism.

Besides, Maldives is part of the New Delhi-driven Colombo Security Conclave, including Sri Lanka and, lately, Mauritius. The mini-lateral envisages cooperation on “shared security objectives” in the Indian Ocean, where India sees itself as a first responder and net security provider.

Interestingly, not just in the Maldives, even in India, there has been considerable opposition against India’s active role in the Maldives. Three years back, when the anti-India protests broke out in the island nation, the Indian opposition parties attacked the Modi government over the rupture in the relationship between the two countries.

Rahul Gandhi had attacked the Modi govt on Maldives policy

Gandhi-scion Rahul Gandhi was the first to attack the Modi government over the alleged deterioration of ties between India and the island nation. Citing a news article written by the controversial far-left ‘journalist’ Suhasini Haider, Rahul Gandhi had claimed that the Maldives, once one of our closest allies and beneficiary of massive aid, was cancelling Indian work visas and putting up “Not Hiring Indians” signs.

“This happens when foreign policy becomes about photo ops & “no agenda meetings” instead of strategic intent,” he had tweeted.

His tweet came after Haider, in an article written in 2018, had claimed that a downturn in ties with the Maldives had hit job opportunities for Indians. In her purported article, Haider had claimed that the companies had put up advertisements saying “Indians need not apply” as they would not be given permits to work in the Maldives.

Sharing the article, Rahul Gandhi had lashed out at the Modi government to insinuate that the ties between the two countries ruptured because of their photo ops and lack of strategic intent.

Even though the purported article written in the left-wing outlet ‘The Hindu’ had no substantial evidence to back the claims, Rahul Gandhi had chosen to trivialise national security issues by highlighting inconsequential incidents such as anti-India banners put up at a few restaurants.

Essentially, Rahul Gandhi was hinting that the ties between the two countries had ruptured only after the Modi government had come in.

However, the recent move by the Solih-led government to ban the anti-India campaign has only punctured the claims made by Rahul Gandhi three years ago.

Pakistan: National Security Committee concludes there was no foreign conspiracy to topple the Imran Khan government

The National Security Committee of Pakistan concluded on 22nd April 2022 that there is no evidence of a foreign conspiracy to topple the Imran Khan government, which was ousted earlier this month. A press release published by Islamabad today said that in the 38th meeting of the National Security Committee of the cabinet chaired by Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, any possibility of such a foreign conspiracy was denied.

The press release says, “Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired the 38th meeting of the National Security Committee of the Cabinet today. The meeting was attended by Federal Ministers Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Rana Sanaullah, Ms. Marriyum Aurangzeb, Mr. Ahsan Iqbal, Minister of State Ms. Hina Rabbani Khar, Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee General Nadeem Raza, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niaz, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar, former Pak Ambassador to the USA Mr. Asad Majeed and senior civil & Military Officers.”

It further says, “The NSC discussed the telegram received from the Pakistan embassy in Washington. Pakistan’s former ambassador to the USA briefed the Committee on the context and content of his telegram. The NSC, after examining the contents of the communication, reaffirmed the decisions of the last NSC meeting. The NSC was again informed by the premier security agencies that they have found no evidence of any conspiracy. Therefore, the NSC after reviewing the contents of the communication, the assessments received, and the conclusions presented by the security agencies, concludes that there has been no foreign conspiracy.”

Ever since the opposition parties had come together to remove the Imran Khan govt, the former PM Imran Khan and other leaders of PTI had been alleging that foreign powers were trying to topple the government. As it had become certain that the govt would not win the no-confidence motion brought by the opposition, Imran Khan had started naming USA as the conspirator.

Before the no-confidence vote in the Pakistan National Assembly, Imran Khan claimed to have received inputs from the former ambassador to the United States saying that the US was not happy with Imran Khan, particularly after his visit to Moscow amid the Russia-Ukraine war. Alleging that the no-confidence move against him was part of a foreign conspiracy, Imran Khan had claimed that a cable received from the ambassador was evidence of the conspiracy.

Imran Khan had advised the president to dissolve the National Assembly and called for fresh elections. But after his party lost the no-confidence vote, Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) chief Shehbaz Sharif, who is also the brother of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, was elected as the leader of the house and was declared the Prime Minister.

Besides the foreign conspiracy, Imran Khan and his party leaders also claimed a threat to his life. Following this, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordered tight security for Imran Khan in his public rallies.

Maharashtra: Sanjay Raut’s rally used stolen electricity in power minister Nitin Raut’s Nagpur

As people are in Maharashtra are facing frequent power cuts and load shedding due to lowered electricity production for a month, a rally of Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut was organized on 21st April 2022 in Nagpur using stolen electricity. It is notable that Nagpur is the hometown of Nitin Raut who happens to be the Power Minister in the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra.

According to a report by Loksatta. load shedding is currently going on at many places in the state due to a gap in availability vis-a-vis the demand for electricity. Citizens are facing a lot of hardships as load shedding is adding to the troubles caused by the heatwave in Maharashtra. While the common public is enraged, it has come to light that Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut’s rally in Nagpur, the hometown of state’s Power Minister Dr. Nitin Raut, was organized on 21st April 2022 using stolen electricity.

On Thursday, 21st April 2022, Dr. Nitin Raut said that the shortage of coal in the state has affected power generation and load shedding is taking place only in areas where there is a high power loss and power theft. He had also claimed that Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) would take strict action against power theft. Within a few hours of him making this statement, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut’s meeting in the Gajanan Nagar area of Nagpur was organized using stolen electricity.

The electricity required for the speaker and other things along with the illumination of the meeting were taken in a clandestine manner directly from the power channel of the MSEDCL. Therefore, people in Maharashtra are wondering what action will the MSEDCL take against whom in this case in concurrence with the claims made by the power minister Dr. Nitin Raut.

The Nagpur city chief of Shiv Sena, Nitin Tiwari said, “Behind the meeting place was the temple of Gajanan Maharaj. We had taken the power supply from there with the permission of the director there. We have inquired whether the person tasked with the decoration take any halogen lamp connection from the MSEDCL supply lines in the wrong way. We have not committed any power theft.”

The public relations officer of the MSEDCL, Pravin Sthool said, “The concerned officials of the MSEDCL have taken a serious note of the matter and have ordered an immediate inquiry. When the report comes by evening, action will be taken as per rules if anyone is found guilty.”

When asked by the media in this regard, Sanjay Raut said, “I also came to know that electricity had been stolen. We will form a committee within the party and conduct an inquiry.”

Khalistanis living in the UK to feel the heat as Boris Johnson confirms an anti-extremist task force to help India

On Friday, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson during his India visit said that the United Kingdom would not welcome people who planned to use the UK’s legal systems to evade the law in India. Johnson was speaking about the Khalistani extremists living in the UK along with financial criminals like Nirav Modi and Vijay Mallya. The British Prime Minister added that his country had set up an anti-extremist task force to help India.

“The UK is sensitive to India’s concerns and there will be zero tolerance to the issue of Khalistanis. We’ve set up an anti-extremist task force to help India. UK govt ordered extradition”, he said on April 22 during his visit to India. India has been repeatedly seeking action against pro-Pakistan Sikh radicals operating from the UK.

Along with Canada, United Kingdom is one of the biggest hubs of Khalistani extremists. Khalistani outfits, including the banned Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) led by extremist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu have regularly held protests outside the Indian High Commission in London, some of them violent. Khalistanis had even planned voting for an independent Khalistan in England on October 31 last year, but very few people turned up to vote. These activities of Khalistanis in the UK may no longer be possible now with Boris Johnson promising to crack down on these activities using the newly created task force.

Speaking further on the issue of economic offenders, Johnson stated that the country’s objective is to bring back those economic fugitives who are wanted in India to face justice in the country. “We don’t welcome people who want to use our legal system to evade the law in India”, he added as he indicated that he was very sensitive to Indian concerns in this regard and that he would see what he could do.

Meanwhile, the two countries also exchanged views on several key issues, including the India-UK defence partnership and a free trade agreement (FTA) that is expected to be finalized by Diwali this year. “The agreement could double our trade and investment by the end of the decade”, he noted. According to the reports, the duo exchanged a total of two Government-to-Government MoUs and four non-governmental MoUs.

The issue of the Russia-Ukraine war was also raised on the occasion. The UK Prime Minister did not pressure India and stated that India’s position on Russia was well known and was not going to change. He also said that the whole world is obliged to do more with all that is happening around the world and in Ukraine. “India has a historic relationship with Russia and everybody respects it”, he added. However, India reiterated its appeal for an immediate ceasefire and resolution of the problem through dialogue.

Earlier today, Johnson had appreciated the depth of friendship between the UK and India and had said, “As India celebrates its 75th year of independence, I’m hugely optimistic about the depth of the friendship between our countries, and the security and prosperity it can deliver for our peoples for generations to come”.

UK PM Boris Johnson arrived in India on Thursday on his two-day state visit. Yesterday he spent his time in Gujarat, visited JCB’s Bulldozer manufacturing plant, MK Gandhi’s Sabarmati Ashram and traveled to Delhi in the evening. The meeting between the two leaders in Delhi came on the final day of Johnson’s two-day trip to India, which had been delayed due to COVID.
