Netizens come forward to sponsor tickets for The Kashmir Files, want the truth to reach the masses

Since the release of Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files on March 11, social media has been flooded with extremely moving and emotional reactions of people, especially those of Kashmiri Hindus who relieved their horror on the silver screen. So many people have also said that they are shocked at the reality depicted in the film since all these years they were not aware of such brutalities being inflicted on fellow Indians.

Along with the emotional scenes outside cinema halls, the film has also stoked controversy over allegations of reduced cinema halls allotted and so-called film critics dismissing the film as propaganda, despite all the brutalities depicted in the film being documented evidence. The film has mainly relied on word of mouth publicity. Since then, many people have come to offer free tickets to people for the movie at their preferred location and preferred time.

Several social media users have urged people to contact them because they are providing free movie tickets in order for the truth to reach the public. Users on Twitter have tweeted asking people to reach out to them to get free tickets for The Kashmir Files in case they are not able to afford the tickets.

On March 7, before the release of the movie, Twitter user Rajeev, with username @YearOfRat tweeted, “Will be doing the same. In fact, I’d sponsor 5 tickets in the 1st week. I request @OpIndia_com to set up some logistics to help pay on my behalf of those who wish to see the movie. Possible @rahulroushan?”

When OpIndia reached out to him for his comments, he stated, “The plan was to generate a buzz so that more and more people would see the film. That is why I enlisted the help of Vivek Agnihotri and OpIndia to ensure that the tickets are for The Kashmir Files exclusively and that only real persons interested in viewing the film obtain them.” Rajeev had watched the film at a special screening held prior to the release and was so moved by it that he pitched in to make sure the film continues to create buzz even after the release weak.

Another Twitter user with username @abdullah_0mar wrote, “I want to give 20 Tickets free to those who want to watch #TheKashmiriFiles. I have some savings so I want to spend it so that Truth MUST reach more people. Please DM me with details in which theatre you want to watch.”

Within hours after the tweet, the user made another tweet saying that the response from the people was overwhelming and that instead of 20, he has given more than 25 tickets for The Kashmir Files and will be spending more in the coming month.

OpIndia reached out to the user who on the condition of maintaining his anonymity said, “For the last 32 years, the only book that told real history was My Frozen Turbulence in Kashmir by former J&K Governor Jagmohan. After that no one told the real story of Kashmiri Hindus. I am from Jammu, I know a lot of Kashmiri Hindus. Few movies were made, but they were total propaganda movies, this is the first movie that tells the real story without watering it down. I have heard these very stories (depicted in the film) from the parents of my Kashmiri Hindu parents. More and more people should see the movie. I am helping those who have financial restraints.”

On being asked why so many people want to see the movie, he said, “Because of the environment created by the Central government. Earlier, people were afraid that the state and central government may get offended if we tell the truth. Hence, they never dared to make such movies. Governments were not supportive. A lot of movies were being shown but this movie shows the real plight of Kashmiri Hindus. Government change, Government support, and the new generation of directors are willing to make such movies. And now, everyone wants to see. I am surprised to see so many theatres in South India having full shows. I could not get a ticket for the weekend in some South Indian cities! I was surprised and felt good, a great response from people.

“Obviously certain sections of media won’t like it. But that’s that. It is very important to see this movie,” he added.

Another user Aashish (@KashmiriRefuge) wrote quoting the tweet of @abdullah_0mar, “After @abdullah_0mar‘s give aways are done. Will add 20 more to his ??”

Aashish, while speaking to OpIndia, said that he is a Kashmiri Hindu whose family had faced the Islamic terrorism in the 90s. He said, “It took 32 years for someone to tell our story. I watch reviews of ordinary people including someone saying I feel from today that I am a Kashmiri Hindu. Everyone should know our story and everyone should be encouraged in future to make such stories.”

“Not just me, my Dogra Friend from Jammu @abdullah_0mar since last night have been issuing tickets and has sponsored more than 25 till now. This shows the bond Dogras from Jammu and Kashmiri Hindus have developed. A True Ganga – Jamuna mixing,” he added.

It is to note that The Kashmir Files movie has received support from people all over the globe. People from all sections of society have come forward to show their support for the movie and have urged people to go and watch the movie so that they also get to know the truth which was hidden till now.

The Kashmir Files, a film on the genocide of Kashmiri Hindus, has done well at the box office in its first few days. The film, which was released on March 11, is presently being shown on over 1000 screens, with a big weekend rush expected by March 13.

The Kashmir Files director Vivek Agnihotri spoke in-depth with OpIndia CEO Rahul Raushan about the film’s production process, the hurdles his team faced, and how he ensured the film’s wide release.

Several videos have also surfaced on social media, showing people sobbing, screaming ‘Vande Mataram,’ and expressly urging people to go and watch the movie. The movie takes viewers back to 1989 when the unrest began in Kashmir as a result of escalating Islamic Jihad, driving the vast majority of Hindus to abandon the valley. The film is based on actual stories of Kashmiri Hindus and stars like Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, and Pallavi Joshi have played important roles in the movie.

Delhi High Court refuses to stay order on delisting of properties by Centre, here is how Delhi Waqf Board wants back the Kabristan: Details

On Wednesday (March 9), the Delhi High Court refused to provide relief to the Delhi Waqf Board, which had filed a petition against the delisting of its 123 alleged properties by the Centre.

One of the properties sought by the Islamic body is a graveyard by the name of Qabristan Qadeem that was handed over by the Union government to border patrolling organisation, India Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). The matter was heard by a Bench of Justice Yashwant Varma.

While refusing to pass an interim stay on the Centre’s decision, Justice Varma said, “I am presently not inclined to grant a stay. This is not a place for stay. It is not like the property has gone to private people. We can ask Union of India to hand it back.”

The Court had sought the response of the Centre, India Tibetan Border Police and listed the matter for hearing again on April 28, 2022.

The timeline of the case

In 2014, the Central government exercised its powers under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act of 2013 to denotify 123 properties from the land acquisition process. The said properties were to be handed over to the Delhi Waqf Board.

The government notification was subsequently challenged by the Indraprastha Vishwa Hindu Parishad. In the same year, a Delhi court passed an order asking the Centre to listen to the grievances of the stakeholders and make a decision.

Two years later in 2016, a one-member committee was constituted by the Centre to decide on the issue. In 2017, the one-member committee submitted its report. The Delhi High Court had observed on February 10 this year that the Qabristan Qadeem was undisputedly handed over to the ITBP in 2017.

“The Waqf Board earlier told the court that they learnt about the transfer of property only in 2017 in a different case. Its application sought stay on any activity at the graveyard,” reported The Indian Express.

Thereafter in August 2018, the Centre constituted a 2-member committee to decide on the fate of the 123 properties. The Delhi Waqf Board had alleged that the one-member committee report was never made public and that the Union government arbitrarily appointed a 2-member committee to re-examine the properties’ status.

The Centre in its defence told the Delhi High Court that the report of the one-man committee was inconclusive and therefore a 2-member committee was constituted. It, however, refused to share the said report with the Delhi Waqf Board.

In November 2021, a public notice was issued by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), seeking public representation with respect to the disputed properties.

Delhi Waqf Board wants the graveyard back

The Delhi Waqf Board has argued that the 123 properties purportedly belong to it and that the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act of 2013 has no provision to recall the order of withdrawal.

It further claimed that disputes pertaining to Waqf properties can only be adjudicated by the Waqf Tribunal under the Waqf Act of 1995. “…the properties never left their Waqf Character and are governed by the provisions of the Waqf Act, 1995, which prohibit alienation of the Waqf Properties,” it concluded.

The Delhi Waqf Board further alleged”…There is nothing that recently appointed Two Members’ Committee can do in respect of the waqf properties in question. While keeping the matter under consideration before One Member Committee and thereafter recently appointed Two Members’ Committee, the Union of India has transferred one of those 123 waqf properties, i.e., Qabristan Qadeem, Khasra no. 484, South Inderpat, Mathura Road, Delhi in favour of India Tibetan Border Police.”

Tripura woman beheads husband in middle of night, had started ‘acting strange and talking to self’ few days prior

The Tripura Police arrested a 40-year-old woman from her residence at Indira Colony in Tripura’s Kowai district for beheading her 50-year-old husband, packing the dismembered head in a bag and hanging it inside their residence.

According to the reports, the woman allegedly killed her husband in his sleep around 2 am with a takkal, a traditional Tripuri machete-weapon and beheaded him. The woman identified as Sabitri Tanti reportedly sat beside the body of her deceased husband Rabindra Tanti, along with the murder weapon throughout the night.

The woman’s brother and her two minor children were also present inside the house, who woke up to the horrific sight. The elder son saw his father’s beheaded body lying on the floors of their living room. He fled the spot and informed the police, said an officer at the Khowai police station.

A police team reached the spot to arrest her. The woman was sent to judicial custody by a local court, said the police.

According to the couple’s elder son, his mother had developed a psychological disorder recently and was undergoing treatment at a local occultist.

“My mother had always been a vegetarian. But she had chicken last night, and all of us went to sleep. Suddenly I woke up and saw my father was beheaded. I was shocked to see my mother was standing with a blood-soaked dao (a sharp weapon). When we raised the alarm, she rushed out of the room and kept my father’s head in our prayer hall,” the elder son said.

Speaking to the media, a senior officer of the state police said the preliminary investigation has revealed that the couple had no domestic problem. He added that a few locals informed the police that the woman was found to have displayed signs of psychological disturbance in the last few days. She has no history of psychological issues of any sort, said the police.

Telangana Minister threatens to disconnect water and electricity to military authorities

On March 12, KT Rama Rao, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister, Telangana, threatened to disconnect electricity and water supplied to the military authorities. He said if the armed forces did not stop causing inconvenience to the people, the Telangana government might disconnect the supplies.

Rao was speaking during the question hour on the implementation of the Strategic Nala Development Program in the city.

Rao blames the Centre for inaction

Rao claimed the state government had filed complaints with the Centre over the issues, including road closures and obstructions caused by the military authorities in the Nala development program. He claimed the Centre had not taken any action in the matter and it was causing inconvenience to the people.

He said, “Telangana is not a different country. Our officials will hold a meeting with them. If they don’t understand, we have to take strong action. If needed, we will cut power and water supplies to them and see whether they will climb down from their stand.” He further directed the state government officials to arrange a meeting with the Local Military Authorities (LMA) and cantonment authorities immediately.

KTR claimed the check dam constructed by the military authorities on Balkapur Nala is causing flooding in the Nadeem colony. He further said the Archaeological Survey of India has refused to allow the state government to execute Nala development work near Golconda fort.

Claiming zero contribution from the central govt in phase one of the project, he targeted G Kisha Reddy, BJP MP from Hyderabad, and said Reddy failed to bring any financial assistance for the project from the centre.

‘Threatening Army is unacceptable’

NV Subhash, state spokesperson, BJP, called KTR’s comment shocking and said the minister does not have respect for the armed forces. He questioned if the TRS government was trying to remove the military base from Hyderabad. He added, “These threats will not work all the time, and very soon, the public will teach them a lesson. Threatening the military authorities is unacceptable, and we condemn it. TRS government should be ashamed of the way they show their respect towards our military authorities.”

Multiple long-range ballistic missiles fired at the US consulate in Erbil, Iraq

The US defence official said they were unaware of how many missiles were fired and where they landed.

The Iraqi officials said the missiles did not target the US buildings but that the missiles had hit areas around the compound. They said there were no casualties from the attack, which occurred shortly after midnight and caused material damage in the area.

The Iraqi officials also said that the ballistic missiles were fired from Iran.

Meanwhile, the US has condemned the attacks, saying it was an “outrageous attack against Iraqi sovereignty and display of violence”.

Satellite broadcast channel Kurdistan24, which is located near the US consulate in Erbil, went on air from their studio shortly after the attack. The main office was damaged, showing shattered glass and debris on their studio floor.

The missile attacks come a week after an Israeli strike near Damascus, Syria, killing two of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard members. Iran had strongly condemned the attack and had vowed to take revenge.

In January 2020, the US forces were targeted in Iraq in an Iranian retaliation for the US killing of its military commander Qassem Soleimani. No US personnel were killed in the 2020 attack, but many had suffered head injuries.

PM Modi declares the 11th Khel Mahakumbh open, advises youngsters to avoid taking shortcuts for success

Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared the 11th Khel Mahakumbh open at Ahmedabad on 12th March 2022. The Governor of Gujarat, Acharya Devvrat, and The Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel were among those present on the occasion. Addressing the inauguration of the Khel Mahakumbh 2022 at the Sardar Patel sports complex in Ahmedabad, PM Modi said that this is not just a sports festival but also a festival of the youth power of Gujarat. The Prime Minister’s speech was preceded by a grand ceremony.

In his inaugural speech, PM Modi said, “I remember, 12 years ago, as the Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2010, I started the Khel Mahakumbh, so it was like sowing the seeds of a dream for me. I see that seed taking the shape of such a huge banyan tree today.”

Citing the two-year gap in organizing the sports event due to COVID-19, PM Modi said, “Due to Corona, there was a two years break in the Khel Mahakumbh. But the grandeur with which Bhupender Patel has started the event has filled the young players with renewed vigor.”

Addressing the non-sports issues that used to be a hurdle in the path of the players, PM Modi said, “Lack of transparency in the selection of players was also a big factor. All the talent of the players used to go away in struggling with problems. Coming out of that vortex, the youth of India are touching the sky today. The glitter of gold and silver is shining the confidence of the country.”

PM Modi did not forget to mention the Indian winners in the Tokyo Olympics. He said, “India has won 7 medals for the first time at the Tokyo Olympics. The same record was also set by India’s sons and daughters at the Tokyo Paralympics. India won 19 medals in this global event. But that’s just the beginning. India is not going to stop, nor is it going to get tired.”

Underlining the enthusiasm of the Indian youths, PM Modi said, “From Startup India to Standup India, from Make in India to Self-Reliant India and ‘Vocal for Local’, the responsibility of every campaign of New India has been taken up by the youth of India themselves. Our youth have proved India’s strength.”

Motivating the youth for continuous efforts in their respective fields, PM Narendra Modi said, “I also have advice for all of you young people – never find a shortcut to success! There is only one mantra of success – ‘long-term planning, and continuous commitment’. A victory can never be our last stop, nor a defeat.”

Mentioning the first National Sports University established in Manipur in 2018, he said that sports players are now getting better training facilities in the country. He also mentioned that Major Dhyan Chand Sports University for higher education in sports will soon be functional at Meerut in Uttar Pradesh.

Khel Mahakumbh was started in 2010 with 16 sports and 13 lakh participants when Narendra Modi was the chief minister of Gujarat. This year in the 11th edition, it has 36 general sports and 26 para-sports. Over 45 lakh sportspersons have registered for the 11th Khel Mahakumbh.

Shreyas Iyer masterclass puts India in a position of strength in the pink ball test in Bengaluru against Sri Lanka

Shreyas Iyer scored a stroke filled 92 off 98 balls as he pushed India to a score of 252 in the pink ball test in Bengaluru. The newly appointed KKR skipper smashed 10 fours and 4 sixes as he put the Sri Lankan spinners to sword. However, he missed out on a 100 while pushing the scoring rate and got stumped for 92, becoming first Indian batsman since Sehwag in 2010 to get stumped in the 90s.

Indian innings started on a disastrous note as Mayank Agarwal got run out for 4 after a huge mix-up with captain Rohit Sharma. Rohit himself was dismissed shortly afterwards for 15 as India slipped to 29/2. Hanuma Vihari and Virat Kohli got India out of the woods with a solid partnership but just when they were looking set, both departed in quick succession leaving India 86/4.

That is when Shreyas Iyer joined Rishabh Pant and the pair started counterattacking in earnest. While Pant did Pant things and took the charge early on, after his dismissal, Shreyas Iyer really took command and ended up scoring 2/3rd of the runs India scored after Pant’s dismissal.

This knock continues the fine start to Shreyas Iyer’s test career after India struggled for over 2 years with a very unreliable middle order. This was the 2nd half century for Shreyas in addition to his debut century and he is just in his 4th Test.

Indian team was all out after scoring 252 runs in 59 overs and one ball. In reply, Sri Lanka got off to a terrible start losing their top 4 for just 28 runs as Bumrah and Shami ran through the Sri Lankan top order. They recovered through Angelo Mathews but once India got through him, Sri Lanka’s challenge was over and they ended up with 86/6.

Supreme Court advocate J Sai Deepak pens a heartfelt note about Vivek Agnihotri’s newly released movie ‘The Kashmir Files’

On Saturday (March 12), Supreme Court advocate J Sai Deepak thanked director Vivek Agnihotri for ‘The Kashmir Files’ and urged his followers to support the movie wholeheartedly.

In a tweet, he wrote, “…I repeat nothing, could have prepared me for the visceral impact of The Kashmir Files. As a hardcore movie buff, if there is a movie in my memory that captures d sheer power of d cinematic medium to give expression to facts, it has to be The Kashmir Files”.

J Sai Deepak pointed out that the makers of the film were confident about their research and that they refrained from putting up ‘escapist’ and ‘evasive’ disclaimers at the very start.

The Supreme Court advocate had appreciated the non-linear style of movie narration, which was adopted by director Vivek Agnihotri for ‘The Kashmir Files’. He emphasised that the story constantly revolved between the past and present and that proved effective in showcasing the genocide committed against the Kashmiri Hindu Pandits.

“The way the movie brings together Kashmir, student politics, education, the Marxist negation of documented facts & its extra-warm relations wid Islamists is a testament to the work Vivek Agnihotri has put in over the years. In that sense, this movie is the culmination of his previous efforts,” he added.

J Sai Deepak then pointed out how each character in ‘The Kashmir Files’ reflected a generation of Kashmir and its respective vantage point. “Effectively three generations have been captured in the movie, telling us that three generations of Kashmiri Pandits have suffered in independent Bharat,” he added.

The Supreme Court advocate also emphasised why remembering history and its periodic reinforcement is essential to ensure that the lived experiences of victims are not denied in society.

“The naming of the characters, from Pushkar Nath Pandit to Sharda Pandit to Bitta and Radhika Menon, and the use of these fused characters to represent multiple real personalities is a testament to Team Vivek Agnihotri’s deep emotional and intellectual investment in the movie,” he said.

J Sai Deepak further remarked, “The movie is not a mere collage of known events. Even that would (have) been an achievement given the current state of Bollywood. But the movie goes much beyond that & invests in multiple layers in every scene, from faith to loss of the home to hope to the realisation of apathy & finally the denial.”

The Supreme Court advocate was in awe of the cast of ‘The Kashmir Files’. He tweeted, “I think everyone who was part of this movie consciously embraced the trauma and chose to channel it…If watching the movie has such a deep impact, I can’t begin to imagine what making it & playing the characters would (have) done to those involved.”

J Sai Deepak conceded that he could not hold back his emotions after watching the film, despite years of training to the contrary.

“Some dear friends have often called me a *robot*, but this movie shattered the robotic barrier…This movie is as real and as authentic as it gets & I think deep gratitude is in order for d super talented cast of the movie,” he wrote.

He was also in awe of Bollywood actor Anupam Kher for playing the character of one ‘Pushkar Nath Pandit’. The ‘realistic’ performance of the veteran actor in the movie swayed J Sai Deepak.

“This has to count as Anupam Kher ji’s finest work ever. Even if he manages to do a better job in any other movie, which I doubt is possible, nothing is ever going to come close to this role. He was born for this role. It seems as if his life journey prepared him for this role,” he added.

“For once, I don’t have the words to capture Anupam Kher Ji’s performance except to say that his character spoke to me like an elder from my own family. He has channelled his heritage & the pain of our people through this performance. To me, his Karmic account has been settled,” the advocate continued.

While speaking about the performance of actress Bhasha Sumbli, he tweeted, “Aptly named *Sharda* in the movie, she represents not just the trauma suffered by the women of the Kashmiri Pandit community, but the genocide of all that Sharda stands for – spirituality, knowledge, family, language, script- Civilisation.”

J Sai Deepak emphasised, “From being forced to eat rice soaked in the blood of her husband to the prescient passing image of the *saw mill* when she drops her son Shiva at the school, you know all through the movie what she is going to be put through & you brace yourself for it. And even that doesn’t prepare you.

He had also applauded the performances of actors Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, Chinmay Mandlekar and Darshan Kumar.

“As for the rest of the cast, Puneet Issar, Prakash Belawadi and others provide the perfect supporting foil through their representation of the role of the State establishment and media during the *genocide*, not exodus, of Kashmiri Pandits,” he pointed out.

The Supreme court advocate further added, “What’s poignant throughout the movie is that the characters keep chanting Om Namah Shivay, even when their end is near. The punarsthapana of the Shiva Linga by the third generation of Pandits after the amendment to Article 370 represents Civilisational hope and resurgence.”

Lastly, he said, “This generation finally has the good fortune of seeing this Civilisation’s history being captured on the big screen by gutsy and brilliant filmmakers such as Vivek Agnihotri. It’s time to push the Overton Window further in favour of Dharma and Desha.”

“If you believe that you don’t have the guts to watch this movie, effectively you have lost the right to opine on this Civilisation. If you can’t even watch, you can’t be expected to stand up for Civilisation when the time comes. So grow a spine, watch, internalise & channel,” concluded J Sai Deepak.

The Kashmir Files‘ film is based on the genocide of the Kashmiri Hindus by the fanatic Islamists in Kashmir in 1990 and the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus following that. The film stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, Darshan Kumar, Chinmay Mandlekar, and Mrinal Kulkarni are in lead roles.

The film was opposed by many Islamists before its release. A petition was also filed in the Bombay high court after the trailer of the film was published on YouTube. The petition sought a ban on the release of the film citing that it could potentially hurt the sentiments of the Muslims in the country.

The Bombay high court had dismissed the petition clearing the way of releasing the film ‘The Kashmir Files’.

Schools in Japan ban girls from tying their hair in ponytails, say it can sexually excite men

In an absurd decision, schools in Japan have now banned female students from tying ponytails inside the schools. The schools have claimed that this hairstyle has the potential to sexually excite a male.

Japanese schools are infamous for imposing rules which would otherwise seem abnormally strict and absurd to people from other countries. From regulating the length of the socks to the colour of the undergarments, Japanese schools have always come up with these absurd rules that surprise people elsewhere.

According to reports, a former middle school teacher in Japan has told VICE World News that the school administration mentioned that the girls who expose the nape of their necks could sexually excite boys.

The teacher further said, “They are worried boys will look at girls, which is similar to the reasoning behind upholding a white-only underwear color rule. The students are compelled to accept these norms because there is very little criticism against this.” It is notable that according to a survey done in 2020, one out of ten schools in the southern prefecture of Fukuoka had banned ponytails.

This is not the only arbitrary and regressive stricture in Japanese schools. In fact, Japanese schools have imposed many such draconian rules, and students never get any explanation behind imposing them. For example, a bob hairstyle is allowed even though it reveals about as much of the neck as a ponytail does, while an undercut is strictly prohibited. The students are also not allowed to dye their hair, and if it is not ‘black or straight’, they must prove it is the natural colour or style of their hair.

According to Asao Naito, an associate professor of sociology from Meiji University, these rules may vary from school to school and across the generations but the intended impact of these rules is to ensure that no one stands out from the crowd.

These absurd rules sound similar to some of the rules imposed over the years in North Korea by Kim Jong Un. The North Korean leader has banned so-called ‘non-socialist’ hairstyles such as the spike and mullet, along with dyed hair. According to the new laws, men and women can only keep one of the 215 other authorized hairstyles.

Punjab CM-elect Bhagwant Mann issues orders to withdraw security of 122 former ministers and MLAs

Even before swearing-in as the CM of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann of AAP has issued orders to withdraw the security of many former ministers and MLAs in Punjab on 12th March 2022. AAP has won 92 out of 117 assembly seats of Punjab in the recent assembly elections and Bhagwant Mann is set to take oath as the new CM of the state on 16th March 2022 in Bhagat Singh’s native village.

As per a reports, Mann has issued an order on Saturday, according to which the security of all Congress and Akali Dal leaders has been withdrawn. As per this decision, security cover provided by Punjab police to 122 former ministers and former MLAs will be withdrawn. This will mean the ministers the outgoing Congress govt who lost their elections will lose their security cover.

The Badal family and former CMs Captain Amarinder Singh and Charanjit Singh Channi are exceptions to this order as they have been provided the security on the instructions of the Union Home Ministry.

Talking about the decision, Mann said that “the security of the people of Punjab is more important than the security of few people”. He said that police stations are lying vacant due to security provided to VIPs.

Punjab’s CM designate Bhagwant Mann has staked his claim to form a government in the state after meeting Governor Banwarilal Purohit on Saturday 12th March 2022. He said, “I met the Governor, handed over the letter of support from our MLAs, and staked claim to form the Government. He told me to tell him wherever we wanted to hold the swearing-in ceremony. It’ll be held at the native village of Bhagat Singh, Khatkar Kalan at 12.30 pm on March 16.”

Aam Aadmi Party has emerged as the winner in the recent Punjab assembly elections. It has secured a massive victory shattering aside the Congress and the SAD-BSP alliance together. Many prominent leaders including the outgoing chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi, SAD supremo Prakash Singh Badal and former chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh were defeated in the assembly elections. This is the second state after Delhi where AAP is forming its government.

A day after Aam Aadmi Party’s massive victory in Punjab assembly elections, the pro-Khalistan secessionist group “Sikhs For Justice” (SFJ) had sent a letter to Chief Minister-designate Bhagwant Mann saying that AAP clearly won the elections by deceptively bagging the votes of pro-Khalistan Sikhs in Punjab who support SFJ’s secessionist referendum for the independence of Punjab from India.
