Congress leader Rita Yadav, who was shot in Sultanpur, had planned the attack herself to get a ticket in the UP elections

A Congress leader who was shot months after she had shown a black flag during PM Modi’s rally in Sultanpur, had got herself shot to raise her status in the party, police have revealed. Probing the incident on January 3 when Congress leader Rita Yadav was shot at her leg by unidentified persons, police informed today that she herself was behind the conspiracy. Reportedly, Rita Yadav got herself shot to come to prominence so that she can get a ticket for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

The Police have arrested Rita Yadav for the conspiracy and sent her to jail. Along with her, her associates including driver Md. Mustakim and one Dharmendra Yadav also have been arrested for participating in the conspiracy.

On January 3rd, Rita Yadav had complained that she was shot by some people in the evening. She was immediately rushed to the hospital, and after regaining consciousness, she had said that when she had gone to got some posters and banners made, three people stopped her vehicle by overtaking it and started abusing her. Reacting to this, she got out the car and slapped one of them. But after that, they shot at her and escaped.

The Congress party had used this allegation to target the BJP in the poll-bound state. Sharing a photograph of the three-man physically manhandling Rita Yadav, UP Congress had alleged on Twitter that the ‘Goondaraj’ in UP is harbouring such goons who pull saree of women and shoot them.

Congress leader from Sultanpur, Rita Yadav, arrested after police found that she had got herself shot to raise her political status

Targeting Smriti Irani, UP Congress had tried to imply that Rita Yadav was shot because she had shown a black flag to the PM.

However, the probe by police has now revealed that the ‘goons’ who shot the Congress leader are her associates only, and they did it on her instructions. Lambhua CO Satish Chandra Shukla informed that after investigating the case minutely and talking to people, they learnt that Rita Yadav had planned this attack on her to raise her political status in the party, so that she is given a ticket in the assembly polls.

The police official informed that Rita Yadav gave different statements on different occasion, raising suspicion about the incident. The police also found it suspicious that she was shot legs, as only cops target the legs of criminals to catch them alive.

Accordingly, the police picked up her driver Md. Mustakim and questioned him, who finally revealed the conspiracy.

On 17 November, during the inauguration of Purvanchal Expressway by PM Modi, Rita Yadav had tried to get publicity by waving a black flag and chanting ‘Narendra Modi murdabad’ slogan. She was taken way by the cops after she was sloganeering at the rally venue in Sultanpur.

BJP MLA asks UP Police to book Rohini Singh under IT act for conspiring to defame him: Details

BJP MLA from Bhadohi Ravindra Nath Tripathi has asked Uttar Pradesh police to file a case against The Wire journalist Rohini Singh under the IT act over a tweet where she alleged that he had left the saffron party. The BJP leader accused Singh of conspiring to defame him, spreading rumours and causing him mental stress with her tweet.

‘It is a request to Uttar Pradesh police to book a case under IT act and initiate action against @rohini_sgh for conspiring to defame me, spreading falsehoods and causing me mental agony,” Tripathi tweeted.

Tripathi’s request to UP police was in reference to the now-deleted tweet by Rohini Singh where she took a swipe at the BJP MLA, stating that he is next in the line of UP BJP legislators to resign from the party.

“Bhadohi MLA Ravindra Nath Tripathi also left the BJP. However, the former announcement will be made when Keshav Maurya tweets: ‘I don’t know why he left the BJP. He should reconsider his decision’,” Rohini Singh tweeted.

The tweet sparked outrage on social media, with many accusing Ms Singh of fanning unfounded rumours and misleading information, following which the journalist who is said to have close links to the Samajwadi Party deleted it.

As assembly polls approach, legislators change parties in the hope of greener pastures

Uttar Pradesh, Cabinet Minister Dara Singh Chauhan tendered his resignation from the Yogi Adityanath led BJP government. Dara Singh Chouhan who handled the Forest and Environment portfolio submitted his resignation to the Governor today afternoon. He served as the Minister of Forest and Environment in the UP government.

In his resignation letter, he had accused the BJP-led Government of neglecting the issues of Dalits, members of the backward castes, farmers and the unemployed youth. Chauhan’s resignation comes a day after Senior Minister Swami Prasad Maurya resigned from his post accusing the party of similar reasons.

Amidst the volatile political happenings in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh, several leaders have resigned and joined new parties to claim new relevance. Last week, MLA Avtar Singh Bhadana had left the BJP to join RLD in Delhi. Today morning, Samajwadi Party leader Hariom Yadav from Sirsaganj has joined the BJP. Yadav happens to be a close aid and relative of Mulayam Singh Yadav. Apart from this, Congress leader Naresh Saini and Ex-BSP MLA Dharampal Singh have also reflected towards the BJP.

Turkmenistan President orders officials to find a way to extinguish the fire at ‘Gateway to Hell’, the gas grater that is burning for half a century

0

Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov has instructed experts and officials to find means to extinguish a fire in a huge natural gas crater, the Darvaza gas crater. This massive five-decade-old fire in a giant natural gas crater in the Central Asian country is also known as the ‘Gateway to Hell’. The Turkmen President appeared on state television on Saturday 8th January 2022, telling officials to put out the flames at the Darvaza gas crater. The crater is situated in the middle of the vast Karakum desert.

The crater has been a tourist attraction but the Turkmen President Berdymukhamedov has reportedly asked his cabinet to find a way to extinguish this fire. According to the state-published newspaper Neytralny Turkmenistan, several reasons were given for extinguishing the famous fire. Out of these, major reasons are negative effects on the health of people living nearby; wasting of valuable natural gas resources; and environmental damage. Turkmenistan’s deputy prime minister was instructed to gather scientists, and if necessary, to attract foreign consultants and find a solution for extinguishing the fire. However, no specific deadline for this task has yet been decided.

“We are losing valuable natural resources for which we could get significant profits and use them for improving the well-being of our people,” the president said while announcing the decision to extinguish the fire. He also cited environmental reasons for the same.

The Darvaza gas crater

The crater was created in 1971 during a Soviet drilling accident that hit a gas cavern. As a result, the drilling rig fell in and the earth collapsed underneath it. To prevent the dangerous fumes from spreading, the Soviets decided to burn off the gas by setting it on fire. The pit is burning ever since then. This crater is 70 meters wide and 20 meters deep. It has been a tourist attraction for four to five decades. Despite continuous fire inside, there is no fencing to the crater which makes it an even more thrilling experience to sit on its edge. In 2018, the President had officially renamed it the “Shining of Karakum”.

A popular site for desert adventure

Known locally as the door to hell, this fiery inferno would have been one of the largest gas reserves in the world. In 1971, a group of Soviet geologists went to the Karakum, in search of oil. They came across the crater and decided, it was a good place to drill. But shortly after they started drilling, the crater collapsed and began emitting dangerous methane gases. To stop the gas, the geologists came up with an idea to set the crater on fire expecting it to extinguish within a few weeks. But they underestimated the amount of gas hidden inside, so badly that a week-long blaze turned into a half-century-long bonfire that continues even today. Now it attracts thrill-seekers from all around the world. Despite the danger of an open fiery hole, it is not yet fenced off. One can stand right on its edge. This is why the place has become a popular site for desert adventure.

Hyderabad: FIR against Tamil actor Siddharth on the complaints of Hindu Jana Shakti for his crass comments on Saina Nehwal

Days after actor Siddharth courted controversy with his distasteful tweet about badminton champion Saina Nehwal, an FIR has been filed against him on a complaint filed by the Hindu Jana Shakti in Hyderabad. Actor Siddharth has been charged by Hyderabad Police station and the Cyber Crime City Police under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the IT Act.

Supreme Court Advocate Shashank Shekhar Jha who is also fighting to provide justice to the Palghar Sadhus case, shared the information on social media. Prerna Thiruvaipati, Vice President of Hindu Jana Shakti and RTI activist, advocate Neelam Bhargava Ram together lodged an official complaint against actor Siddharth for using derogatory remarks on social media against a woman, he said.

On January 6, Siddharth had attacked ace Badminton player Saina Nehwal with a crass, sexual comment responding to her tweet on PM Modi’s security lapse in Punjab. “Subtle cock champion of the world… Thank God we have protectors of India. Shame on you #Rihanna”, he had said. ‘Cock’ is a slang used for the male sexual organ. By twisting the badminton term ‘shuttlecock’, Siddharth was trying to insult Saina in a crass, sexual manner.

Saina had condemned the comment and said that she had lost respect for the actor. “Yeah, I’m not sure what he meant. I used to like him as an actor but this was not nice. He can express himself with better words but I guess it’s Twitter and you remain noticed with such words and comments,” Saina had said.

Yesterday, the actor officially apologised to Saina after the netizens targeted him for insulting the celebrated player who is a woman. Identifying himself as an ‘ally’ of the feminist movement, Siddharth wrote in his open letter, “Dear Saina, I want to apologise to you for my rude joke that I wrote as a response to a tweet of yours, a few days ago. I may disagree with you on many things but even my disappointment or anger when I read your tweet, cannot justify my tone and words. I know I have more grace in me than that. As for the joke… If a joke needs to be explained, then it wasn’t a very good joke to begin with. Sorry about a joke that didn’t land”.

However, he defended his cation terming it a joke. “I, however must insist my word play and humour had none of the malicious intent that so many people from all quarters have attributed to it. I am a staunch feminist ally and I assure you there was no gender implied in my tweet and certainly no intent to attack you as a woman. I hope we can put this behind us and that you will accept my letter. You will always be my Champion. Honestly, Siddharth”, he continued.

Saina Nehwal today wondered why the actor changed his stance after making the comment and responded to Siddharth’s apology saying that the matter was about women. “He only said it and he is now apologising. See, it is about women, he shouldn’t target a woman like that but it’s okay, I am not bothered about it, I am happy in my space and god bless him,” she said on the sidelines of the ongoing India Open.

Pertinently the National Commission for Women (NCW) had earlier urged Twitter India to ‘immediately’ block the actor’s account. The NCW also has written to the Maharashtra police seeking registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against actor Siddharth.

Anti-China sentiments in Nepal rising over Beijing’s interventionist and expansionist policies: Report

China is drawing fierce pushback from Nepali citizens over its attempts to extend its sphere of influence over the Himalayan nation. For years now, Beijing has been trying to push its hegemonic designs in Nepal through the use of political, economic, and cultural means, employing the use of both coercion as well as persuasion to bring about its objective.

However, it is facing stiff opposition from several Nepali social organizations, which have organized protest rallies against continuing interference of Beijing in Nepal’s internal activities, a report published in Nepali news organization KhabarHub said.

Anti-China demonstrations have become a frequent occurrence, the report said, adding that Beijing is trying to further its territorial ambitions by expanding its role in various sectors, including in the security realm.

Swatantra Nagarik Group, an organization that has a presence across Nepal, recently organized a protest in Kathmandu condemning China for “interfering” in the country’s political and economic matters and encroaching Nepal’s land in many northern districts, including in Humla.

The protesters carried signs and placards that read “Down with China government,” “Stop Chinese interference,” “Stop border encroachment,” “provide uninterrupted passage to Nepali students from China,” among others.

As per the report, the students who attended the demonstrations felt that the unannounced blockade imposed by China on Rasuwa and Tatopani checkpoints had caused a further strain on the already deteriorating relationship between the two countries.

In an attempt to expand its hold at the Rasuwagadhi-Kerung border point, China had violated its commitment to Nepal by declaring it as an international border under its ambitious Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

China extorts money from Nepali locals in northern borders as it stonewalls years-old transit agreement

It is worth noting that Nepal under KP Oli had made many overtures to China, including the initiative to open the northern borders, which, however, has not yielded the desired results. It has only increased the resentment among the local Nepali citizens against their northern neighbours.

Then there was a transit agreement too signed between the two countries in 2016, which allowed the import and export of goods to third countries through Chinese ports.

Furthermore, during his 2019 visit to Nepal, Chinese Premier Xi Jinping had announced that he would transform the country from “land-locked” to a “land-linked” country. However, three years on, the Chinese commitment remains on paper, and no measurable progress to materialize Xi’s promise is made.

Meanwhile, a transit protocol between the two countries during President Bidya Devi Bhandari’s visit to China in April 2019 was also signed. As per Article 15 of the protocol, the agreement had to be brought into force one month after each country informed the other of its enforcement.

However, months after signing the agreement, China is yet to hold up its end of the bargain, Nepalese claim, adding to the woes suffered by the Nepali traders who have to often pay hefty amounts of money for goods and transportation.

Although China had agreed to the opening of six border checkpoints and its ports for smooth transport of goods from Nepal, to this day, only two checkpoints are operational—Rasuwa and Tatopani—both of which face blockades from the Chinese government.

Nepalis from different walks of life have taken this stonewalling by China as a lesson on how Beijing employs pressure tactics to convert nations into its vassal states.

On the other hand, observers claim China is imposing unnecessary and often draconian measures on Nepalis. A businessman quoted by Khabarhub said the Chinese forced him to pay a stiff amount of Rs 2 to 3 lakh per annum as house rent in Nepal’s Kerung area.

Protests against China’s intereference to block passage of US grant of MCC to Nepal

Besides China’s covert malpractices in the border region, Beijing is also playing foul to drive a wedge between Nepal and the United States of America over its opposition to the Millenium Challenge Corporation(MCC).

In a statement issued by the Nepal Democrat Union(NDU), the organization stated that China was using its intelligence wing, the Ministry of State Security, to disseminate propaganda and misinformation to subvert Nepal’s sovereignty, block the passage of US grant of MCC, and bring an end to Nepal’s relationship with other democracies in the world.

The NDU recently launched a demonstration in the nation’s capital Kathmandu to draw the attention of Nepali lawmakers towards China’s negative influences and interventions in the country’s internal politics. It also condemned the “authoritarian” CCP and its aim of undermining Nepali identity, communal harmony, and its relations with other nations.

A report published in a Nepalese Daily in November 2021 said a Chinese intelligence agency was playing an “active role” in destabilising Nepal’s relations with other nations. The report said Beijing had activated its spy network in Nepal to sabotage the Himalayan nation’s relations with other countries, most notably with the United States and is lobbying hard against the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact grant assistance provided by the United States.

Nepal is set to receive a grant of $500 million in aid from the United States under MCC. Though it was signed in September 2017, it is still awaiting parliamentary ratification. The inordinate delay in approval from Nepal’s parliament had caused the United States to express its concerns to Kathmandu.

Demonstrations against Chinese occupation of Nepali land

In September 2021, protests erupted in Nepal after the Chinese occupation of Nepali land in the Humla district and the continuous interference of China in the country’s internal politics. The protests were carried out by Loktrantik Yuva Manch(LYM) and saw participation from 200 cadres.

As per reports, China had built close to 12 to 15 buildings on Nepali territory in the Humla district. Locals had accused China of encroaching upon their land and demanded authorities to take action against them. Reports said China had secretly built structures and stopped locals from entering the region.

Ladakh: Revenue Dept scraps Urdu as mandatory language for govt jobs after BJP MP wrote to Amit Shah

The administration of Ladakh on Tuesday removed the mandatory requirement of knowledge of Urdu for recruitment into various government jobs in the Union Territory. The official notification issued by the government made ‘Bachelor’s degree from any recognized university’ the mandatory requirement instead of ‘Knowledge of Urdu along with Bachelor’s degree ’ for the several posts in the revenue department.

According to existing rules, graduation with knowledge of Urdu is mandatory for recruitment into various govt posts, including Naib Tehsildar, Giridawar Qanoongo, Patwari etc. But as per changed rules, only graduation will be enough for these posts, and knowledge of Urdu will not be required.

BJP MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal expressed happiness over the decision taken by the Modi-led government and said that this is one of the important changes in Ladakh’s administrative system after the abrogation of Article 370. “Now Urdu is no more compulsory language for the recruitment in Ladakh Revenue Department. True freedom from psychological colonialism of #Art370 as well as liberation from the imposed Urdu language by Kashmiri rulers over Ladakh”, he tweeted.

BJP MP from Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal had written to Home Minister Amit Shah last year demanding the removal of Urdu as the mandatory language for the government jobs in the Union Territory. “Urdu is alien language for the people of Ladakh and was brutally imposed on the people of Ladakh by the then rulers of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir”, he had said in the letter dated January 23, 2021.

Namgyal yesterday shared a video on Twitter to thank PM Modi and MHA Amit Shah for this transformative decision. “Usage of Urdu in Ladakh was discriminatory. No tribe, no community in Ladakh follows Urdu and its nobody’s mother tongue. Not even the Muslims here speak Urdu”, he said. The total population of Ladakh is around 3 lacs of which 46 per cent follow Islam and the rest either follow Buddhism or Hinduism.

He further added that it was important for the Ladakh Revenue Department to function on a common language platform and ensure uniformity and friendly approach towards people.

Meanwhile, the Jammu Kashmir National Conference Kargil has today strongly condemned the order issued by the Revenue Department saying that the administration had shown a different and biased approach towards the Urdu language.

Haji Haneefa Jan, the President of JKNC Kargil said that the UT Administration was openly attacking Urdu with different means and is trying to deprive the unemployed youth from employment. He also criticized Namgyal for terming Urdu as an alien language. “We think that the MP Ladakh should avoid to play hate politics in the region and respect the languages and the people who speak Urdu. We can’t tolerate such an unfortunate move from the government,” Haneefa Jan added.

UP: Arrest warrant issued against Swami Prasad Maurya, a day after he resigned from cabinet minister post

A day after he resigned from the Yogi Adityanath government as a cabinet minister, an arrest warrant has been issued against ex-minister Swami Prasad Maurya. The arrest warrant has been issued against Maurya by Yogesh Yadav, the magistrate from a court in Sultanpur regarding objectionable statements made by him against Hindus in 2014.

Maurya has been ordered to appear before the court on January 24.

Earlier on Tuesday, the former Cabinet Minister had announced his resignation from the ministry. Though a number of media reports stated that he has already joined the Samajwadi Party, it is yet to be officially confirmed. Maurya is very likely to join the SP and the SP chief Akhilesh Yadav had tweeted welcoming him into the party.

Maurya’s letter has stated that he is disappointed with the BJP government in UP for not doing enough for Dalits, backward sections and the youth. Reports have stated that he was upset over ticket distribution as he wanted his son to be the BJP candidate from Raebareli’s Unchahar.

Swami Prasad Maurya was alleged to have made some objectionable comments against Hinduism and Brahmins when he was a member of the Bahujan Samaj Party. Maurya had joined the BJP in 2017 after being a 4-time BSP MLA.

Another UP Minister Dara Singh Chauhan resigns from Yogi Adityanath cabinet, Akhilesh Yadav welcomes him to SP

With only one month left for the state assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Cabinet Minister Dara Singh Chauhan has resigned from the Yogi Adityanath led BJP government. Dara Singh Chouhan who handled the Forest and Environment portfolio has written his resignation to the Governor, today afternoon. Dara Singh Chauhan was serving as the Minister of Forest and Environment in the UP government.

In his resignation letter, he has accused the BJP-led Government of neglecting the issues of Dalits, members of the backward castes, farmers and the unemployed youth. Chauhan’s resignation comes a day after Senior Minister Swami Prasad Maurya resigned from his post accusing the party of similar reasons.

Dara Singh Chauhan is joining the Samajwadi Party ahead of the elections. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav posted a tweet welcoming the former BJP leader welcoming to his party. ‘Hearty welcome and greetings to Shri Dara Singh Chouhan ji to SP, the relentless fighter of the struggle for ‘social justice”, Akhilesh Yadav posted on Twitter. He added, ‘Respect everyone~ space for everyone’, indicating that SP is open for any politician looking for shifting loyalties.

Doctors in USA successfully transplant a genetically modified pig heart onto a human patient: All you need to know

A 57-year-old patient with terminal heart disease has received a successful transplant of a genetically modified pig heart and is reportedly doing well. Three days ago, David Bennett, a resident of Maryland, agreed to the experimental transplant as he chose to survive over life-threatening arrhythmia.

“It was either die or do this transplant. I want to live. I know it’s a shot in the dark, but it’s my last choice,” he had said before the surgery took place. According to the reports, Bennett was denied a human heart surgery and was declared ineligible for a conventional heart transplant at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and several other leading transplant centres that reviewed his medical records.

The complicated procedure was performed by the University of Maryland School of Medicine who noted that a genetically-modified animal heart can function as a human heart without immediate rejection by the body. The University of Maryland School of Medicine decided on the case as they realised that a genetically modified pig’s heart was the only option available for the patient faced with a serious or life-threatening medical condition.

The patient was fully informed of the procedure’s risks and also that the procedure was experimental with unknown risks and benefits. He had been admitted to the hospital over six weeks earlier with life-threatening arrhythmia and was connected to a heart-lung bypass machine to remain alive. In addition to not qualifying to be on the transplant list, he was also deemed ineligible for an artificial heart pump due to his arrhythmia.

A heart arrhythmia is a disease where patient suffers from irregular heartbeats. Heart rhythm problems occur when the electrical signals that coordinate the heart’s beats don’t work properly. The faulty signaling causes the heart to beat too fast, too slow or irregularly.

According to the reports, the patient is being carefully monitored and is able to breathe on his own. He will be carefully monitored over the next days and weeks to determine whether the transplant provides lifesaving benefits. Dr Bartley P. Griffith who surgically transplanted the pig heart into the patient said that this breakthrough surgery has brought the mankind one step closer to solving the organ shortage crisis.

“There are simply not enough donor human hearts available to meet the long list of potential recipients,” Griffith said. “We are proceeding cautiously, but we are also optimistic that this first-in-the-world surgery will provide an important new option for patients in the future”, he added.

Bulli Bai creator Niraj Bishnoi belongs to a family of Congress supporters, media misinformation leads villagers to believe he bought and sold women

Niraj Bishnoi, the creator of the Bulli Bai app, belonged to a family of Congress and Communist party supporters. As per a report, Dasrath Bishnoi, father of Niraj Bishnoi, is a staunch follower of the Congress party. Niraj’s late grandfather, who lived in their native city Nagaur in Rajasthan, was a supporter of a Communist leader.

Dasrath, who runs a grocery store in Jorhat, Assam, alleged that his political views and his father’s political views did not influence Niraj. He said, “I have always been a supporter of the Indian National Congress. My son is an introvert and is very sensitive, I feel. Politicians and TV news show anchors should speak responsibly. They don’t know who might get influenced by their words.”

Niraj was arrested from Assam by the Delhi Police Special Cell for his alleged involvement in creating the Bulli Bai app. As per the Police, Niraj has admitted to creating the application. Talking about Niraj’s arrest, his sister denied the claims that the app was against Muslim women. Instead, she alleged Niraj created the app to target those who spoke against Ram Mandir.

She said, “My brother had created the application, but it wasn’t anti-Muslim. The application was self-generating and was coded in a way that names and pictures of those posting against Ram Mandir would pop-up as ‘Bulli Bai of the day’.”  She further added there was no auction of the women as suggested by the mainstream media. She said, “The word ‘deal’ wasn’t used in this app. It featured women. And I understand that it would enrage any woman whose photo would feature there.”

However, her claims were denied by a senior police officer who said Niraj targeted 102 Muslim women whose names were fed by him into the app.

Niraj’s family has been facing backlash due to the incident, filed by media fake news about the app he made. The word about Niraj’s arrest spread like wildfire at their native place, villages around their native place in Rajasthan and Assam. The family added that people have started to believe Niraj was involved in the trafficking of women. His father said, “Someone told my mother that Niraj was buying women in ₹2 lakh each and selling them for ₹4 lakh. Now, what should I tell her? She fell sick and was hospitalized.”

It may be notable that while the app only posted images of Muslim women with the caption ‘Bulli Bai of the day’, most of the media has been spreading the misinformation that the app was offering deals of women. Both Indian and international media has overhyped the app by claiming it was auctioning Muslim women, which is not true and can be termed as fake news. But now this fake news has its impact in Bishnoi’s village, where people have started to believe he used to buy and sale women using the app.

The Bulli Bai app

After Sulli Deals, the Bulli Bai app appeared on GitHub, on which photographs of Muslim women were shown as daily picks. The matter reached Mumbai, and Delhi Police that made multiple arrests in the case. While A 18-year-old girl and two young men were arrested in the case. Based on the leads provided by the arrested the main accused behind Sulli Deals was also arrested by the Police.
