Balochistan: How Pakistani forces killed two little children in Hoshab, tried silencing protesting parents as the world watches on

In the early morning of October 10th 2021, frontier corps (FC) Balochistan, killed two Baloch minors and injured another by firing mortar shots in the Hoshab area of Turbat Balochistan. Two of the killed children were identified as Allah Baksh, his sister Sharatoon (Malee) aged 5 and 7 years old and wounded one identified as Muskan. All three kids were playing in the back of their home when FC personnel fired mortar shots, as a result of which two of the three victims were killed and one suffered serious injuries.

The incident shocked Balochistan; Baloch social media activists, Political parties, Student organizations, Human rights groups called the incident inhuman and barbaric and an example of extreme aggression and hatred against Baloch nation.

The family of the slain children protested along with the dead bodies on the Shaheed Fida Chowk in Turbat against the Pakistani security forces who fired the lethal mortar shot that resulted in the death of the two children.

According to the family members, the authorities have tried to whitewash the crime of the security forces by saying that the children did not die as a result of the mortar shot, but they have mistaken a hand grenade as a toy and they were killed because of a grenade blast. In a viral video the Deputy Commissioner Kech, Hussain Jan can also be seen saying that FC is not involved in the killings. DC Hussain Jan also faced criticism for telling an elderly woman to remain silent because the men are talking during the sit-in.

The victim’s family have denied the claims of the local administration and said that they will continue their protest and will not bury their children until justice is served.

After two days of protest in Turbat, the family decided to march towards Quetta, Balochistan with the bodies of their children. After the announcement of taking the dead bodies towards Quetta. The same forces involved in the murder of the kids have tried to put pressure on the family to somehow stop them from reaching the capital of Balochistan. But the resolute Baloch mothers and elders have not only resisted the powerful forces but have also reached the capital of Balochistan and began recording their protest outside of the Governor house.

The family and the bodies were received by the locals of the Quetta and the Sit-in protest for justice is continuous in the capital, but it seems the provisional government has more serious concern then listening to the people of Balochistan.

The chief minister of Balochistan Jam Kamal and his party are busy fighting for the chief ministry. Pakistani mainstream media, Politicians, rights groups and so-called activists have shown zero interest in this aggression.

The people of Balochistan have been raising their voices against such brutalities and oppression. They have been telling the local and international human rights organizations, the civilised world and the neighbouring countries about the sufferings of Balochistan. But it seems like the whole world has turned a blind eye over the issue of Balochistan. Because of the criminal silence of the world, Pakistani forces are now even targeting Baloch women and children on a daily basis.

The Hoshab incident is not an isolated incident, Balochistan faces similar forms of aggression on a daily basis for example; In the last week of September, Pakistani forces killed an elderly Baloch woman, Taj bibi, in Aabsar, Turbat. Another minor was killed by the Police in Buleda on the 1st of October, during a raid in a house.

All these crimes against Baloch people go unheard and unnoticed because the civilized world chooses not to speak against the fascist regime of Pakistan. The people of Balochistan are as human as anyone else in the world. And it is the responsibility of the civilized world to help the Baloch people to get rid of these brutalities if they want a peaceful and stable region and a world free from religious terrorism.

Lakhimpur Violence Case

On October 3, a ‘farmer’ mob attacked a BJP convoy with stones and sticks in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh. Amid the ensuing commotion, a vehicle was seen running over the protestors. Following that the angry mob of protestors had burned two vehicles, dragged the people inside the vehicle and had beaten them to death.

Mangaluru: Miscreants vandalise temple, damage Nandi and Naga idols, locals raise concerns about security

On Saturday (October 16), the Baikampady Karkera Moolasthana Jarandaya Daivastana and Naga Brahma Peeta were vandalised by miscreants at late night in Mangaluru in Karnataka, reported Daijiworld.

As per reports, the matter came to light when devotees went to offer prayers at the temple. Daijiworld reported that the accused had damaged the idol of Naga and the stone image of Nandi. Besides, the miscreants broke open the cupboard and threw all the belongings of the Davisthana. At the same time, the gates of the temple were also destroyed.

The devotees alerted the temple administrative committee, who then called in the cops. On receiving information, the police rushed to the spot and began an investigation into the matter. Following the temple desecration, the locals have demanded security for the religious site. Police suspects it was a case of attempted robbery. However, this is not the first time that such an incident has come to light.

Raheem and Taufiq confess to urinating, putting condom in temple’s Hundi

Earlier, in April this year, two people were arrested in connection to an incident where a condom was found in a temple’s Hundi (Donation box) in Manguluru. The temple belonged to the local Manguluru deity Lord Koragajja who is considered an avatar for Lord Shiva. The arrested were identified as Raheem (32) and Taufiq (35) from Jokatte area in Mangalore.

Addressing a press meet, police commissioner N Shashi Kumar said that in between January and March this year, five cases were registered at Ullal, Kadri, and Pandeshwar police stations over miscreants dropping objectionable items into the offering boxes of temples, including a condom at the Koragajja Katte temple. However, the police were not able to track down the culprits behind the desecration of the temples.

But suddenly after some time, the duo Raheem and Taufiq started going to the temple in order to pray for forgiveness from the priests. Initially, the priests thought the duo was making fun, but finally, they confessed their heinous crime at the temple and surrendered themselves to the people there who later turned them over to the police.

Delhi police arrest 3 associates of lobbyist Niira Radia in Yes Bank loan fraud case, accused of siphoning off Rs 300 crore

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police on Sunday arrested three people for siphoning off more than Rs 300 crore taken as a loan from Yes Bank to build a hospital.

The three accused have been identified as Yateesh Wahaal and Satish Kumar Narula (directors of Nayati Healthcare and Research NCR Pvt Ltd) and Rahul Singh Yadav, proprietor of Ahluwalia Construction.

As per reports, they were arrested from Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. “The complainant was a shareholder in a company named OSL Healthcare Pvt Ltd.,” informed the police.

The Niira Radia connection

Interestingly, Wahaal and Narula are associates of infamous former lobbyist Niira Radia who is the founder and chairperson of Nayati Healthcare and Research NCR Pvt Ltd.

Niira Radia’s LinkedIn profile

According to the police, the three accused had taken a loan from the bank for the development of a hospital, however, it was not used for the purpose and instead misappropriated.

Radia, after being caught in 2010 2G spectrum scam had entered the hospital business in late 2014. She floated four companies under the brand name ‘Nayati’ between 2014 and 2018. These include- Nayati Healthcare and Research Pvt Ltd (August 2014),  Nayati Healthcare and Research Agra Pvt Ltd (August 2017),  Nayati Healthcare and Research Amritsar Pvt Ltd (August 2017) and Nayati Healthcare and Research NCR Pvt Ltd (May 2018).

As per Radia’s LinkedIn profile, she began this movement to ‘transform the way healthcare is perceived in India.’ In a bid to provide ‘affordable healthcare’ to the masses, Nayati has multispeciality hospitals in Uttar Pradesh, as per the information provided in Radia’s profile.

Niira Radia’s LinkedIn profile

Not just Nayati, Radia also has links with Ahluwalia Construction. Reportedly, it is yet another benami company of Radia which was used to siphon off funds.

Though the company bears the same name as Ahluwalia Construction Group which is one of the most reputed names in construction, it has no affiliation with this so-called company bearing its name.

Booked in 2020

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Delhi Police in November 2020 had booked Niira Radia, her sister Karuna Menon and accomplices SK Narula and Yateesh Wahal in this loan embezzlement case.

The complainant, a Delhi-based orthopedic surgeon Dr Rajeev K Sharma had alleged that Niira Radia and others embezzled Rs. 312.50 crores through fictitious bank accounts in the name of well-known contractors.

It is imperative to note that Sharma had played a key role in the establishment of the 417-bed Primamed Hospital in Gurugram and the 90-bed Vimhans Hospital in south Delhi.

Sharma had further alleged that loan and equity money to the tune of Rs. 400 crores had been siphoned off while the condition of the Primamed Hospital had deteriorated. He called it an act of “brazen cheating” and claimed there is enough evidence to hold Niira Radia guilty.

Additionally, a trail of Rs 119.15 crore reaching Radia reflected the brazen loot carried out by her and her associates.

Gujarat govt increases cap on Eid celebrations after three Muslim MLAs point out other festivals had higher limit

The Gujarat government on Monday permitted the gathering of up to 400 people for Eid-e-Milad procession provided it moves within a locality, colony or street and does not go out of that area. The development comes a day after three Muslim MLAs of Congress, Gyasuddin Shaikh, Imran Khedawala and Mohammad Javid Pirzada, urged the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) ruled state government to raise the limit on participation in a procession.

Prior to this, the government had restricted the participation to 15 people and only one vehicle could participate in the procession.

Unhappy with the guidelines issued by the state home department, Shaikh and two other Muslim MLAs had written a letter to Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.

Letter by three Muslim Congress MLAs

In a letter shared by Congress MLA Imran Khedawala on his Facebook page, he had mentioned how the recent state home department guidelines for Eid procession was restricted to 15 people while political rallies and celebration of festivals of other religion had an increased cap of 400 people. “We get the feeling of injustice on seeing the restrictions placed on Eid-e-Milad procession. On one hand, politicians of all parties including the Chief Minister and other BJP leaders are carrying their political rallies with thousands of people. The state government under the current guidelines have given limit of 400 people for celebration of festivals of other religions. On those lines we had asked for permission but the government gave us permission to use only one car and 15 people in procession. This feels like discrimination and mockery. We are shocked at this,” the letter stated.

Hence, the three Muslim Congress MLAs wrote to the authorities to increase the cap up to 400 people in the procession.

Subsequently, the state government increased the cap to 400 people if procession is in same locality.

Gujarat govt issues clarification

Overwriting the old guidelines, the state government issuing a ‘clarification’ on Monday said that up to 400 people can take part in a procession. However, if the procession moves out of the limited area, only 15 people will be allowed to participate, the letter said further.

Additionally, the government has stated that the processions can only be taken out during the day hours and should be concluded in the minimum time possible. At present, the state has imposed night curfews from 12 AM to 6 AM in eight major cities of Gujarat.

The state in its release also clarified that the government had already permitted organizing religious, political or social gatherings with a limit of 400 guests.

Congress MLA thanks BJP govt

The Muslim MLAs shot another letter thanking the chief minister for increasing the cap on participation.

They also assured that the processions will be carried out adhering to the Covid-19 guidelines.

Gujarat govt eases restrictions for celebrating Hindu festivals

Keeping in mind the controlled cases of coronavirus infection in the state, the state government had relaxed norms for celebrations of Ganesh Chaturthi and Navratri in Gujarat. Up to 400 people were permitted for organising garba during Navratri within residential neighbourhoods. Commercial garba celebrations were discouraged. Permission was not granted for party plots and other commercial venues. Similarly, for Ganesh Chaturthi festival that was held in September, the cap was 400 people for outdoor celebration and 200 people for indoor celebration.

Cricketer Virat Kohli removes Pinterest profile link after backlash over ‘meaningful Diwali’ campaign

The link to Virat Kohli’s Pinterest account where he was supposed to give “tips” to celebrate a “meaningful Diwali” has gone missing from his Twitter and Instagram profiles. It is noteworthy that Kohli was heavily criticized for the campaign that he ran for Pinterest on his social media handles especially keeping the history of anti-firecrackers propaganda he had run in the past during Diwali.

The screenshot of the Archived version of Kohli’s Twitter profile from October 17 shows that the Pinterest link was visible in the bio, as he had mentioned in the video and post.

However, on October 19, the link was missing.

Kohli’s video on Instagram also mentions that the link should be in his bio, but the link posted there was of his merchandise store and not his Pinterest profile. The posts, however, mentioning that he would be giving tips to celebrate a “meaningful Diwali” are still available on both Twitter and Instagram.

Kohli has not posted anything on his Pinterest account since the announcement of the campaign. It is unclear if he actually removed the links after the backlash or the contract with Pinterest was to post the link only for two days in the bio.

Viral Kohli faced backlash over “meaningful Diwali” campaign

On October 17, in a video post, cricketer Virat Kohli had said that he would be sharing “personal tips” to celebrate a “meaningful Diwali”. Considering his history of making the anti-fireworks statement and general pontificating that irks people, the star cricketer faced an array of backlash on social media.

Also, people asked him to better prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup and improve his performance rather than giving sermons on how to celebrate a festival.

It is notable here that Virat Kohli is yet to win an ICC trophy as a captain and has never won the Indian Premier League. He has quit the captaincy of Royal Challengers Bangalore and will step down as the captain of the Indian T20 team following the World Cup.

DC’s animated movie ‘Injustice’ depicts Kashmir as disputed region, shows Superman and Wonder Woman destroying Indian military equipment

Ahead of the release of DC’s latest animated film ‘Injustice’, social media websites are awash with a snippet from the movie that depicts Kashmir as a disputed region. The clip that is going viral shows Superman and Wonder Woman destroying all military equipment in Kashmir and declaring it as an “arms free zone”.

While narrating about how Superman and Wonder woman ended conflicts in various regions around the world, the video says, “In disputed Kashmir, Superman and Wonder Woman destroyed every piece of military equipment, declaring it an arm free zone.”

Several social media users took to Twitter and other platforms to highlight how DC had portrayed Kashmir as a contested region and painted India in a bad light.

One Twitter user said the clip from DC’s ‘Injustice’ showed Indian Air Force F/A-18D Hornets armed with AIM-9L Sidewinder InfraRed (IR) Close Combat Missiles (CCMs), being destroyed by well known Justice League icon Superman.

‘Injustice’ was scheduled to release worldwide on October 19, 2021. However, it was leaked online earlier this month, after which social media users started pointing out how DC has been hewing to the Pakistani propaganda of portraying Kashmir as a disputed region and wrongly depicting Indian military as an occupying force.

‘Injustice’ is an animated Justice League movie that’s based on the video game of the same name. The story takes place on an alternate Earth in which the Joker has tricked Superman into killing Lois Lane, sending the hero on a rampage. This unnhinged Superman decides to take control of Earth for its own good, leading Batman and his allies to attempt to stop him.

Karnataka: Pastor Somu allegedly tries to convert Vishvanath, he files complaint instead, what happened next will blow your mind

On Sunday (October 17) morning, members of the Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad sang bhajans inside a makeshift church in the Hubbali area in Karnataka. The action was a mark of protest against forced religious conversion programs being conducted by the church authorities.

A video of the incident by NDTV shows scores of ladies and men chanting bhajans with folded hands inside the Bairidevarkoppa Church in Hubbali.

The activists and BJP leader demanded the arrest of pastor Somu Avaradhi.

Raghu Sakleshpora, the State Convenor of the Bajrang Dal, said: “A man called Vishvanath was taken there for conversion. He went to the police station from the church and filed a complaint against Pastor Somu and others. Later, our members assembled inside the church and in order to protest, started singing Hindu bhajans.”

Besides, members of the Bajrang Dal, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, and BJP MLA Arvind Bellad protested in front of the Navanagar police station on Sunday, accusing the cops of failing to act against the pastor accused of forcible conversions.

Earlier, a large group of activists stopped the Hubballi-Dharwad major road and the dedicated corridor of the Hubballi-Dharwad bus rapid transit system near Bairidevarkoppa for more than an hour and a half as police failed to apprehend the pastor.

Vishvanath, a vegetable vendor at APMC yard, who filed the case alleging forced conversions against the pastor and others, also accused the pastor of abusing him in the makeshift church when he recited Hindu prayers instead of Christian prayers.

Talking to reporters, Vishvanath said that pastor Somu started interacting with him three months ago. Six days ago, Somu had come to his house and said that if Vishwanath starts following Christianity, his life will change.

“Somu had asked me and my family members to attend the Sunday prayer at ‘Prayer for all’ hall in Bairidevarkoppa. However, when I started singing a prayer of Hindu gods, he, along with others at the hall, started abusing me,” he said.

The pastor has reportedly been arrested by the Police since then. The police commissioner of Hubli-Dhadwad said, “The investigation is going on. Only Somu Avaradhi has been arrested. So far, we have not received any complaint from the church.”

According to reports, letters of the district collector were given in a special camp arranged at the Collector’s office on Sunday. The citizenship documents were handed over after procedures including the Intelligence Bureau (IB) check of the applications were completed.

Also, another process has been initiated to grant Indian citizenship to 9 more Pakistani Hindus who have applied for the Indian citizenship. The applications are being considered and a thorough investigation by the IB team of the state and central government is expected before these people are given acceptance letters.

The Union Home Ministry had also issued a notification for people belonging to six persecuted communities to apply for a certificate of naturalisation under the Citizenship Act 1955 and the citizenship rules framed under the law in 2009.

Earlier in 2019, the Rajasthan government had also granted Indian citizenship to 34 Pakistani migrant Hindus living in 3 districts in Rajasthan.
