Australia: Indian student Vishal Jood released from custody, was jailed for clashing with Khalistanis

0

Sources have confirmed to OpIndia that Indian student Vishal Jood who was lodged in a jail in Australia after being falsely accused by Khalistanis, has been released from custody today.

As per NRI Herald, Jood’s release has been confirmed by his lawyers, however, information pertaining to his location will be kept concealed considering potential security threats.

“Vishal Jood’s lawyers @OpalLegal have confirmed that Vishal was this morning released from custody. Given the threats that have been made against him, his current location will not be disclosed,” it Tweeted.

On September 2, Magistrate K Thomson’s Parramatta LC Court 13 had ordered the release of Vishal Jood on October 15, 2021. As per reports, in a plea bargain, NSW’s Department of Public Prosecutors dropped eight charges that included the racial hate crime charges against Jood.

Arrested on false charges

24-year-old Vishal Jood who hails from Haryana and currently pursuing higher studies in Australia was arrested for his alleged involvement in three crimes in Sydney on April 16.

He was arrested by the Australian Police after a group of Indians clashed with Khalistani elements in Australia during the peak of the farmers’ protest in India.

While the Khalistanis, despite attacking the local Hindus, insulting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and allegedly burning an Indian flag were named as victims, Jood was charged with damage to property, affray, and assault after a group of Indian students retaliated.

Hindu community leader who had helped Jood attacked

We reported on Thursday how a business establishment owned by Yogesh Khattar, the President of Hindu organization Arya Pritinidhi Sabha, was attacked by Khalistani elements in Sydney’s North Mead.

It is imperative to note that Khattar who came under an attack just a day prior to Jood’s release, had helped and supported him fight his legal case.

Khattar claimed that the Khalistanis were trying to trap him just as they had trapped Jood. “These Khalistani elements are vicious, they plan, plot and execute to propagate their hate-filled agendas,” he said further.

In a well-planned conspiracy, a false ‘victory rally event for Jood’ and fake video was being promoted on social media using Khattar’s name and number. The Hindu leader had even received a call from NSW Police Multicultural liaison officer on October 13 about the same. However, Khattar clarified that no such event was being organized by him.

An IT team has been deputed by the police to urgently look into the digital footprints of the fake video.

Karnataka: Govt to survey official and non-official Christian missionaries, takes first step to curb illegal conversions

Taking the first step towards stopping illegal religious conversions, the Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Department has asked officers to survey both official and non-official Christian missionaries operating within its borders.

The decision by the Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Committee was taken during a meeting at Vikasa Soudha on Wednesday. Some of the legislators who participated in the meeting were Puttaranga Setty, BM Farooq, Goolihatti Shekar, Ashok Naik, Virupakshappa Bellary amongst others.

Survey to analyze if any govt facilities are being given to missionaries

The government in the meeting also discussed a need to conduct a survey to analyze if the Christian missionaries are misusing government facilities. Next, it also pondered on initiating registrations of Christian missionaries.

The committee also opined withdrawal of government facilities from those who convert. The Central government in August this year had clarified that no person who professes a religion different from the Hindu, the Sikh or the Buddhist religion shall be deemed to be a member of a Scheduled Caste.

As such, the benefits of Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) meant for the welfare and development of Scheduled Castes can not be extended to Converted Christians from Scheduled Castes and Tribes.

‘40% church operating in state are not recognized’

Former minister and current BJP MLA Gulihatti Shekhar who was in news recently for raising the issue of rampant conversions in the assembly said that 40 per cent of the churches operating in the state are not officially recognised.

“Statistics are being gathered in this regard. The committee discussed unofficial missionaries operating in the state,” he said.

Sharing an anecdote, Shekhar had revealed how his own mother had been influenced and converted to Christianity by the missionaries. The extent of brainwashing by missionaries was such that his mother started to detest anything and everything Hindu. She had stopped applying kumkum and used to not even look at the idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses at their house, the MLA had informed.

Shekhar had claimed that as many as 15,000 to 20,000 people were converted to Christianity in his constituency.

He had also shared how Christian missionaries have been fooling people and luring them into the Christian fold by various methods, including fear, bribery and superstitions like healing prayers.

‘Karnataka studying anti-conversion law of various states’

Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Wednesday had said that the state government has undertaken the task of studying the anti-conversion law of several states.

“We are deeply considering the implementation of a law to curb forceful religious conversion. We are studying the laws implemented in various states. We would like to bring the law as soon as possible,” the CM said while speaking to the media in Mangaluru.

Sikh ‘farmer’ protesters disrupt Ramleela program in Punjab, attack attendees, FIR registered: Exclusive details

On October 9, a group of Sikhs barged into Ramleela ground and disrupted Ramleela that was being organized by Shri Sanatan Dharma Ramleela Committee. OpIndia reached out to organizers, activists and Police to get more information about the case.

OpIndia reached out to Raju Jain, Senior Vice President, Shri Sanatan Dharma Ramleela Committee. He said, on Saturday, Ramleela was scheduled to start at 9 PM. Sant Baba Sukhbir Singh Ji Kandhola Wale, who is a saint and lives in a nearby village, was the chief guest. After he arrived at the venue, a group of Sikhs barged into the premises and started abusing Singh and other attendees.

‘Everything happened on the pretext of farmer protests’

According to Jain, though they called themselves farmers and alleged that they came to mark their protest, the intentions were different. He said, “They called themselves farmers. It all happened on the pretext of farmer protests. But in reality, things were different. They called out Sant Sukhbir and asked him how being a Sikh, he could attend a Hindu festival. They asked him to leave immediately.”

Jain said when Sant Sukhbir Singh tried to counter their argument, things got violent. “Sant Sukhbir tried to calm them down. He said that we should not divide Hindus and Sikhs. He tried to convince them of the fact that there is no difference between Bhagwan Ram, Waheguru and Guru Nanak. They all are ours. However, after listening to Sant Sukhbir, they got aggressive and started abusing him. When we tried to intervene, they abused and threatened us too. While threatening, abusing and attacking the attendees, they claimed they would stop Ramleela proceedings.”

Police dispersed the attackers

When the organizers noticed that things were going out of their hands, they immediately contacted SSP. SHO reached Ramleela ground with the Police force and dispersed the crowd. The organizers filed a complaint to SSP and DC.

The complaint filed by organizers

In the complaint, the organizers requested DC to take action against the miscreants who wanted to divide Hindus and Sikhs so that such incidents do not happen in the future. They further added if no action was taken against the attackers, the Hindu groups, temples and organizations would shut down their gates and submit the keys to the city administration. They said Ramleela proceedings would also seize if no action was taken.

Complaint files by the organizers

‘Police registered FIR after pressure’

OpIndia reached out to Harminder Pal Singh, Shri Shiv Shakti Parbhat Feri Sewa Samiti. Singh is actively perusing the case along with Shri Sanatan Dharma Ramleela Committee. While talking about the incident, Singh said that when the attackers abused Sant Sukhbir, he told them not to divide Hindus and Sikhs. Sant Sukhbir also informed them he himself had donated over 50 lakh for the farmer protests, and they should not mix religious and political functions. However, the attackers did not listen to him and kept saying that he should not have come to attend a Hindu festival.

Singh said that though they had filed a complaint against the attackers the next day, no action was taken against them. Thus, they decided to mark their protest against the inaction of the Police. On Tuesday, all Durga Pandals, Ramleela proceedings and other religious places shut down the lights in the evening as a mark of protest.

Harminder added that their way of protest worked, and DC and SHO reached out to them and requested not to continue with the protest. The Police promised to file a case against the attackers, after which they switched on the lights and continued with the festivities. However, till 5 PM on Wednesday, no action was taken.

Several Hindu groups got united against the delay from the Police side and sat in protest at Ramleela ground. “They called us to meet, but we refused as we were sure the Police would try to avoid filing FIR and get the attackers to apologize for what they had done. We sternly told them that we would come only after you send us the copy of FIR.”

FIR registered against the attackers

Based on the complaint filed by the organizers, Police has registered FIR under Section 296 (disturbing religious assembly), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 341 (wrongful restrain). OpIndia reached out to SSP Vivek Sheel Soni to find out more details of the case. SSP Soni said that those who had attacked attendees at Ramleela ground were members of farmer unions. They went there to mark their protest as they thought BJP leaders were scheduled to visit. They alleged BJP was trying to convert a religious event into a political event.

However, as the organizers of the event sought action against the attackers, the Police have filed an FIR. The investigation would reveal the real intentions of the attackers. SSP Soni said as there was no communal

What does the FIR say?

The FIR has been registered against Daljit Singh Gill, Jagjit Singh and some unknown. Statement of Ashwani Kumar, General Secretary, Shri Sanatan Dharma Ramleela Committee, was recorded by the Police.

Copy of FIR

Based on the statement given by Ashwani Kumar, when Ramleela was about to begin, Daljit Singh Gill and his brother Jagjit Singh Gill arrived with some of their associates on the ground. They were holding batons in their hands. They stopped Sant Sukhbir from entering the premises, and when he tried to argue with them, they started raising slogans. They used abusive language against Sant Sukhbir and other attendees. After that, Sant Sukhbir left the ground without attending Ramleela. The organizers informed the Police about the incident. When the attackers saw Police, they hid their weapons and picked up flags of farmer protests.

OpIndia also reached out to Ashwani Kumar. While talking about the incident, he said, “We respect all religions. We do not want any divide between Hindus and Sikhs. However, that does not mean we would tolerate any such attacks on our religion. This is why we want to take this case ahead and seek strict punishment against the culprits.” Kumar added that the culprits tried to disrupt Ramleela under the pretext of farmer protests, and such incidents should not happen in the future. “This is why they should be punished as per the law so that everyone gets the message that we will not tolerate any such attack in the future,” he said.

’Over 70-year-long history of organizing Ramleela’

While talking to OpIndia, Jain said that Shri Sanatan Dharma Ramleela Committee has been organizing Ramleela every year for over 70 years. In all these years, only during the Covid-19 pandemic, Ramleela did not take place last year. He added that they never faced any problems earlier.

J&K HC quashes 2018 criminal defamation case against Arnab Goswami and others by PDP’s Naeem Akhter: Read details

0

The Jammu and Kashmir High Court on Wednesday, October 13, quashed a defamation complaint filed by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Naeem Akhtar against Republic TV’s Arnab Goswami and journalist Aditya Raj Kaul, among others. Quashing the defamation proceedings pending before the court, the single-bench of Justice Sanjay Dhar observed that “reporting allegations about the official duties of a public figure cannot be considered defamatory.”

The court was hearing a 2018 defamation complaint filed by the senior leader of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Naeem Akhter, against the Editor-in-Chief of Republic TV, Arnab Goswami, journalist Aditya Raj Kaul, Sakal Bhatt and others.

“…when a journalist publishes an accurate and true report in respect of a public figure relating to his public functions, which is already in the public domain, it cannot be stated that there was any intention to harm the reputation of such person,” the single judge bench of Jammu and Kashmir HC observed.

“Having carefully watched the news programme contained in the compact disk attached to the complaint, I do not find any imputation or any allegation having emanated from the presenters of the news programme. The anchors and the presenters only repeatedly referred to the letter of Shri Khalid Jahangir and read out contents,” the judgment read.

Following the HC judgement, Republic TV Tweeted: “The battle is long and hard but it is fought and won. J&K High Court quashes criminal proceedings against Arnab Goswami and @republic! Republic’s historic victory in the case is a win for independent Indian media.”

Uploading a copy of the order, journalist Aditya Raj Kaul also thanked the J&K High Court for upholding the freedom of expression and rights of journalists and quashing defamation complaints filed against him and his colleague and others in the 2018 case.

The 2018 defamation case against Arnab Goswami and Aditya Raj Kaul

The complaint against Goswami and Kaul, who was then an anchor for Republic TV, was filed in July 2018 under sections 499 (defamation) and 500 (punishment for defamation) of the Ranbir Penal Code before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Naeem Akhtar.

Akhtar said that on July 4, 2018, Republic TV had broadcast a “defamatory and malicious news segment”. At the time, Akhtar was an MLA and had held the portfolio of works minister in the PDP-BJP coalition government before its collapse in June 2018.

In the programme, Adityaraj Kaul and others had discussed the allegations made by Khalid Jahangir, a member of the BJP, in a letter dated June 21, 2018, to the governor.

Jahangir had accused a “close associate” of the former chief minister of the state (Mehbooba Mufti) of “corruption and favouritism.”

Despite the fact that the letter did not mention anyone by name, the complainant claimed that Arnab Goswami “deliberately and knowingly” invoked his name in conjunction with the allegations levelled in the letter.

He further claimed that the show’s hosts, including Kaul, “repeatedly and intentionally, kept on mentioning Akhtar’s name in connection with the allegations made in the letter”.

Sydney: Khalistani elements attack the business of Yogesh Khattar, who had helped nationalist student Vishal Jood

0

Khalistani elements active in Australia have reportedly attacked the business premises of Yogesh Khattar located in North Mead of Sydney. Yogesh Khattar, president of New South Wales Arya Pritinidhi Sabha became an eyesore for Khalistani elements after he helped and supported Indian student Vishal Jood to fight his legal battle.

Terming Khalistani elements as vicious he said that they are trying to harm him physically adding that this time they tried to trap him the way they did to Vishal Jood.

24 years old Vishal Jood from Haryana was arrested by Australian authorities over charges of attacking Khalistani extremists at Haris Park in Sydney. He was arrested by Australian police on April 16 and was later denied bail. Khalistani elements got him arrested on a false and fabricated charge as he was trying to save the Tricolour.

In the Indian diaspora in Australia, several netizens from India joined the movement to demand the release of Jood. Yogesh Khattar played a key role to ensure legal help to Vishal Jood.

Notably, Khalistani agents carried out this attack against Khattar hours before Vishal Jood is set to be released on October 15. Yogesh Khattar helped Vishal Jood to get a successful plea bargain and he is set to be released from NSW Prison. This apparently made Khalistani elements angry. Yogesh Khattar who spoke to Australia Today confirmed the attack: “I generally work till late at my business but left a little early yesterday. Looks like the attackers didn’t find me so angrily destroyed our vehicles.”

He further told The Australia Today that on the afternoon of October 13th he received a call from NSW Police Multicultural liaison officer about a video floating on a social media platform. “I told her on the phone that I had no idea about any video and have not seen it. This video apparently had an appeal for a ‘Victory rally’ on Vishal Jood’s release. And surprisingly it had my picture and phone number,” he told the newspaper.

Yogesh Khatar said that conspiracies are being hatched to malign the image of Hindu community. He said that he mostly remains aware of the activities of the community. “But if other community leaders and I didn’t know about this video that means someone has purposely made it to malign the Hindu community,” he said. He has categorically told NSW Police’s multicultural community liaison officer that he has no plan to organise a rally to celebrate the release of Vishal Jood. But he requested the officer to look into who else uploaded and circulated the video and the motive behind it. He has filed a Police complaint as his phone number and photo were maliciously used.

“We will not worship if Muslims don’t want, but please save us”: From India to Bangladesh, how veto of violence works

The vibrant festival of Durga Puja, when Maa Durga descends on earth on Mahalaya, is celebrated with much fervour especially by Bengali Hindus. Across Bengal, there are gorgeous Murtis of Maa, adorned with gorgeous jewellery, colourful sarees and sindoor are installed with devotees flocking to the pandals to pray for the triumph of good over evil. The Puja reaches a crescendo on the Dashami day, or Bijoya, when Ma Durga slayed Mahishasura, earning her the moniker Mahishasuramardini.

While Maa Durga slew the demon, in Kalayug, the demon seems to live on. In Bangladesh, which is at least 91% Muslim dominated, Hindus are being persecuted simply because they dared to be Hindu and pray to Maa Durga. As Bengali Hindus from Bangladesh started celebrating Durga Puja, Muslim mobs vandalised at least 20 pandals and desecrated the idols. After a false rumour of the Quran being desecrated, several more Durga Puja pandals were vandalised and over 150 Hindu families were attacked.

Sharing a video of an attack on Hindus, Advocate Dr Gobinda Chandra Pramanik, Secretary-General of Bangladesh Jatio Hindu Mohajote tweeted, “The situation is terrible!! Attacks on 150 families in Shilpara, Cox’s Bazar, widespread vandalism, looting, vandalism of Hatiya in Noakhali, vandalism of idols in municipal Kalimandir, attack Vandalism, molestation of women, 2 people have been found dead in Chandpur.” In yet another update, advocate Chandra shared the news of the publicity secretary of Chandpur district branch of Bangladesh National Hindu Youth Grand Alliance being hacked to death.

The land of Naokhali has long been permeated with Hindu blood. During the Noakhali riots, countless Hindus were raped and murdered. The converted Hindus were made to write declarations that they had accepted Islam out of their free will and Hindus in the 2000 square mile area were made to pay the Jaziya.

While the Hindus were being persecuted, killed, attacked and their faith being desecrated by Muslim mobs in Bangladesh, back in India, a ‘Muslim journalist’ was wondering how Muslims are so “remarkably patient”.

Rana Ayyub, who identifies herself as a Muslim journalist, took to Twitter to marvel at the remarkable patience that Muslims seem to show in India. She said that not a single day in the past 7 years has she not thought about the remarkable patience shown by 200 million Muslims in India given the attack and humiliation they face every day. This mythical attack, Rana believes, is ‘enabled by the government’. Emphatically, almost screaming into the abyss, Rana reiterates.. ‘EVERY SINGLE DAY’.

Rana paints an abysmal picture. We can almost imagine bodies of Muslims strewn on the blood-soaked roads of India. We can imagine men dressed in saffron with Modi-looking masks running around with guns and swords waiting to extract their pound of flesh from the innocent Muslims who were just living their work-a-day lives, taking care of their 8 children and 4 wives, praying in silence while loudspeakers blare their call to Allah. She makes us believe that Hindus are a barbaric cult running around raping Muslim women, murdering Muslim men and torturing Muslim babies.

We know that is not the truth. We know Hindus can barely defend themselves, leave alone go on a rampage. Throughout history, Hindus have been murdered, raped and humiliated by Muslim hoards while their leaders have asked them to bow their heads and die with a smile on their faces. When MK Gandhi had visited Naokhali, he was rebuked by the Muslim League and after that, he had travelled to Bihar to stop the retaliatory violence by the Hindus. There, he is famed to have said that Hindus must leave Noakhali or die – this, because the Muslim League had asked him to quell the violence, the same Muslim League that was raping Hindu women, beheading Hindu women and waging a war against Kaffirs.

In recent years, we have seen how the Delhi anti-Hindu riots were planned and executed by Muslim mobs. Right from the protest of Shaheen Bagh to the murder of Hindus amidst chants of Allahu Akbar and Nara-e-Taqbeer, it was made amply clear to Hindus that these protests and the ensuing violence were specifically targeted against Hindus. We heard chants of Hinduon-se-Azadi and Jinnah-wali-azadi and throughout, the narrative was that it was the Muslims who were being persecuted while Hindus were the aggressors.

The examples are aplenty and at this point, repeating those examples almost makes it seem like Hindus like myself suffer from echolalia. What we need to understand is how (and why) Muslim journalists like Rana Ayyub continue to drum up the ‘Hindus murdering Muslims’ trope while Hindus are regularly massacred by the Muslim mob.

There are two crucial aspects to this narrative. Firstly, the veto of violence that the Muslim community exercises is paramount and all-pervasive. Secondly, much like what ‘Mahatma’ Gandhi asked Hindus to do, the state today and the ecosystem that shields the Muslim community commands the Hindu to wither and die without a fight because the Hindu should be grateful that the Muslims did not burn more than they did, shed more blood than they did, raped more than they had and destroyed less than they could – the bigotry of low expectations.

Let us take an example. During the Delhi riots, it was the Muslims who planned and executed a pogrom against Hindus. They stabbed Ankit Sharma so many times that his intestines were visible when his body was pulled out of the gutter. They cut the hands and legs of Dilbar Negi and burnt him alive, simply because he was Hindu. Tahir Hussain confessed that amidst slogans of Nara-e-Taqbeer, they conspired to murder Hindus. The narrative, however, was that Hindus were the ones who murdered Muslims. How? Because after the first day and a half, Hindus decided that they needed to defend themselves. In a single spate of violence, one can possibly understand why the Muslim mob and their own narrative prevails over all else.

First and foremost, the Muslims have the street-veto. While we Hindus trend hashtags and write articles (like I am writing this one) to boycott brands when an ad insulting their faith is published, Muslims take to the streets demanding the ‘blasphemes’ head on a platter. When Kamlesh Tiwari insulted the ‘Prophet’, Muslims took out marches on the roads screaming at the top of their lungs – ‘Gustakh-e-rasool ki sazaa, sar tan se juda’. Now, one could say that both Hindus and Muslims are only screaming into the empty, gaping hole without any tangible effect on the ground or on the brotherhood between Hindus and Muslims. However, while Hindus failed to even cancel the individuals insulting their faith, the Muslim radicals beheaded Tiwari and sent a chilling message to the Hindus.

It is a function of this street veto that no law seems to control the menace of Islamism. The worldview of significant sections of the Muslim community make it quite difficult, and in certain cases impossible, to implement law and order in ghettos where they are the overwhelming majority. There is significant resistance towards the implementation of law and order in these areas and a lot of these places are ‘no-go zones’ even for the Police. In such a scenario, the police also focus on arresting the ‘blaspheme’ rather than those threatening to behead a man for saying something mildly uncomfortable. Which government would want to deal with the pressure of acting against an innately violent community after they have beheaded a man? Would it not be simply to arrest the one who offends the barbarian than to tame to barbarian himself? It is a cowardly cop-out, but one that States take to deal with an unnamable Asura that no law, no civilisation has been able to contain.

While the Muslim hoards exercise their street veto and make the State bend to their violent whims, journalists like Rana Ayyub give them spectacular covering fire. After the rampant violence that the Muslim extremists indulge in and have indulged in, Rana Ayyub chooses to follow the path of Mahatma Gandhi. She tells the Hindus that she simply can’t stop thinking about the restraint displayed by the radicals. When they could murder 500, they murdered only 50. When they could balkanise the nation, they only burnt a state or two. When they could make harems with women won as war-booty, they raped only a few thousand Hindu women. The bigotry of low expectations shines through so bright, that the Hindus almost gets blinded into believing that they owe a debt of gratitude to the Muslim mobs for not annihilating them completely.

In Bangladesh today, the Hindus are being attacked for simply being Hindu and exercising their right to worship. Their basic right to worship Maa Durga when she descends on earth to bless her children. As the Muslim mobs exercise their street veto, the Hindus beg for mercy. They say if the Muslims don’t want, they will stop worshipping Maa, but the State must save them. The State, in turn, watches on as impotent bystanders because they rather let the barbarian run amuck than deal with the harsh reality that the beast of Islamism would need a Maa Durga to be tamed.

As Hindus get massacred, soon, the narrative would begin the emerge. Hindus in Bangladesh are being murdered not because Islamists hate Kafirs, but because some miscreant who wants to tarnish the brotherhood between Hindus and Muslims floated a rumour that the Quran was desecrated. Not all Muslims are bad. They did not go on a rampage because they hate Hindus. They did so because they were misled. Because their fragile feelings were hurt. They would never hurt Hindus if their faith had not been hurt. Do you say it has happened before? That they desecrate Hindu festivals every year? Do you want to remind people of the Bhola massacre? They must have had their reasons, for sure. They love peace. Don’t blame them. Be thankful that they stopped eventually. Be thankful that they did not kill them all. Be thankful that they are.. peaceful.

‘Bhajan is haram in Islam’: How Muslim residents who purchased houses near Jalaram Bapa temple in Bharuch got them to stop Aarti

It all started in 2008 when Shaukat Mansuri purchased the house in Bahadur Buraj area of Soni Faliya, Bharuch. There is a Jalaram Bapa temple just across his place. The temple would play bhajans every evening from 6:30 PM to 8 PM. These bhajans were on regular speakers one has in their home. So the sound was never too loud to be a disturbance, just loud enough for all devotees who are visiting the temple to listen to them.

About three years back, he complained that the bhajans being played at the Jalaram Bapa temple is harassment to him. Mehul Patel, one of the residents of the area while speaking to OpIndia said that to oppose the bhajans and Aarti, Shaukat Mansuri’s son would bring huge DJ-style speakers and around same time put on Islamic preachings on the loud speaker.

That time also police got involved and blamed us Hindus only. Then the Disturbed Areas Act was implemented and more houses were also deceitfully sold, Patel informs.

Patel says that after moving to the locality in 2008, Shaukat Mansuri befriended nearby neighbours and gave them gifts of sarees and utensils to win their trust. However, in 2011 he filed a case against some people in neighbourhood in a bid to stop them from sitting in the community area.

In smaller towns in India, there are community places in each locality where neighbourhood kids play cricket and old men and women sit and spend their time talking about politics, singing bhajans and other such things. But Shaukat Mansuri then accused the people who would gather there of harassment. He even got the kids to stop playing cricket there.

“I come from a lower middle class background. When someone tore seat of his vehicle, he accused me of doing it and filed a case against me. It was so much of mental torture for months. I was studying and this was testing time for me,” he said.

Speaking about the current situation where Hindus in the locality have put up ‘for sale’ banners, Patel said, “We had filed an application to put up a speaker in the temple to the police. Just as they have speakers in Mosques. Mansuri got upset about the same and one day one of the boys who goes to the temple for preparation was stopped. Mansuri and three of his other Muslim neighbours, who are also his relatives, approached police and filed an FIR. We had registered a complaint against this.”

Application filed against Shaukat Mansuri and others in June 2021

In the application, the residents said that every evening they play bhajans for about 30 minutes to an hour. The residents accused that Shaukat Mansuri, Iqbal Mansuri, Shagufta Iqbal Mansuri, Imran Mansuri and Taslim Imran Mansuri had instructed the man who went to play bhajans to stop playing them. “Today they again came in a mob and turned off the bhajans. They said that bhajan is haram in Islam and bhajan and Aarti should be stopped in ‘our area’. They said that we Muslims live here and Hindu bhajans should not be played here. The Jalaram Sai temple and Shiv temple are there since many years and these Muslims want to hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus,” the letter states.

Subsequently, an FIR was filed against Shaukat Mansuri, Imran Mansuri, Taslim Mansuri and Shafugta Mansuri on 11th June 2021. Police has mentioned that a case has been registered and investigation is currently underway.

However, after the above complaint was filed, Patel alleged that Mansuri and his relative again came to threaten them. Subsequently, they filed another application. As per the second complaint, a copy of which is with OpIndia, one Ubed Mansuri, Shagufta Mansuri, Zulekha Mansuri, Shaukat Mansuri’s wife and two more Muslim women had come to put pressure on Darpan Chauhan, Chetan Patel as well as Gaurang Rana who had filed the complaint. The complaint says that when they refused to back off, they were threatened with dire consequences.

“With reference to the case, since past 8-10 years, they have put women and children forward and tried to instil fear in us. Because of this we feel unsafe. Shaukat Mansuri has anti-Hindu mindset and wants to do land-jihad and wants to turn Hindu community in the area into minority. Despite the implementation of Disturbed Areas Act, they got their family members to buy homes from Hindu families. They are also threatening us with dire consequences if we continue with bhajans. He has also threatened that he will turn the area into Muslim-dominated area.

“If anything happens to any of us or our family members, the people mentioned above will be responsible,” the letter said.

Three months after the above incident, the residents of Soni Faliya have put up ‘for sale’ banners outside their homes.

Disturbed Areas Act

Disturbed Areas Act is implemented in parts of districts of a state where the Act is in place to ensure that communal harmony is maintained and there is no polarisation of any particular community. District Administration, to maintain communal harmony and peace, could declare certain areas as ‘Disturbed Areas’ which are susceptible to demography change. The transfer of immovable property in these areas would require an elaborate procedure. The seller, in the application, must mention that the seller is selling the property by their own free will.

Transfer of immovable property in such cases would require an elaborate procedure that includes city administration to going to the site and examining the property and taking approval from people affected. This includes those who live nearby that particular property as well. Only once the procedure is followed and Collector is satisfied will he approve the transfer of property. Through this Act, the government is trying to keep a check on the polarisation of communities in sensitive parts of the state.

Danish attacker who killed 5 in Norway with bow and arrow is a convert to Islam, police had earlier flagged him over concerns of radicalization

On Wednesday (October 13) evening, a man armed with a bow and arrow killed five people and injured two more including an off-duty police officer in Kongsberg, near Oslo, the capital of Norway. The man who has been arrested by the Norwegian police after the deadly attack had earlier converted to Islam.

According to media reports, the Norway police said they had previously been in contact with the 37-year-old accused in 2020 as he showed signs of radicalisation following his conversion to Islam. The unidentified man was earlier flagged as having been radicalised, the police said.

“There earlier had been worries of the man having been radicalised,” regional police chief Ole B. Saeverud told a news conference. The reports linking the suspect to radicalisation were before 2021 and police had followed up at the time, Saeverud added. “There were concerns over radicalisation … Those reports were followed up,” Saeverud said without elaborating further. He also added that the police is yet to ascertain whether it was a terrorist attack.

“Given how events unfolded, it is natural to assess whether this is a terrorist attack,” said the police chief.

According to Reuters, the accused is in police custody and is thought to have acted alone.

In what transpired, on Wednesday, October 13, the Danish man launched the assault inside a Coop Extra supermarket on Kongsberg’s west side. An eyewitness was quoted by the local media as saying that she had heard a sudden uproar and saw a woman fleeing, followed by a “man standing on the corner with arrows in a quiver on his shoulder and a bow in his hand.”

“Afterwards, I saw people running for their lives. One of them was a woman holding a child by the hand,” she further added.

Meanwhile, the police, without divulging details, confirmed that besides bow and arrows, the accused used other weapons during the attack as well.

As the suspect moved around swiftly in an attempt to escape the police, authorities cordoned off several sections in the vicinity. Residents were warned to stay indoors as authorities used sniffer dogs to search for the accused. Reports suggest that police were informed of the attack at 6:13 pm (local time) (4.13 pm GMT) and the suspect was arrested at 6:47 pm (local time).

Five people, four women and one man between the ages of 50 and 70, were killed in the attack. Two other people were injured and are in intensive care in hospital, one among them an off-duty police officer.

Radical Islamists launch attacks on the streets of Norway

Last year, a Muslim mob had unleashed violence on the streets of Norway capital city Oslo. The clashes had broken out between Muslim mobs and a group of protestors identified as Stop Islamization of Norway (SIAN) during a rally in Oslo.

Prior to this, Muslim mobs had unleashed riots on the streets of Sweden after a member of the ‘Stram Kurs’ group had burnt a copy of the Quran. Amidst the chants of Allahu Akbar, the radical Islamists had taken to the streets and unleash violence.

Australia: Hindu leader Yogesh Khattar’s business attacked by Khalistanis, had helped Vishal Jood fight his case

In Australia, a business establishment owned by Yogesh Khattar, the President of Hindu organization Arya Pritinidhi Sabha, was attacked by Khalistani elements in Sydney’s North Mead on Thursday.

Khattar had helped and supported Hindu Vishal Jood fight his legal case where he was falsely accused and trapped by the Khalistanis in April this year.

While speaking with The Australia Today, Khattar said, “I generally work till late at my business but left a little early yesterday. Looks like the attackers didn’t find me so angrily destroyed our vehicles.”

He claimed that the Khalistanis were trying to trap him just as they had trapped Jood. “These Khalistani elements are vicious, they plan, plot and execute to propagate their hate-filled agendas,” he said further.

False videos floating on social media misusing Khattar’s mobile number

In what Khattar calls a well-planned conspiracy, he informed that he had received a call from NSW Police Multicultural liaison officer on October 13 about some video floating on social media under his name and number.

The video and images promoted a ‘victory rally’ being organized by Khattar on October 15 at Harris Park to celebrate Jood’s release.

“I told her (the officer) on the phone that I had no idea about any video and have not seen it. I am mostly aware of what’s going on in the community but if other community leaders and I didn’t know about this video that means someone has purposely made it to malign the Hindu community,” explained Khattar.

After reviewing the malicious content, Khattar clarified to the NSW Police’s multicultural community liaison officer that he had no plans to organize any victory rally.

He also urged the officer to investigate who had spread malicious and false content under his name and number. After consulting his lawyer, Khattar had already filed a police complaint in this matter.

However, Khattar suspects that the Khalistanis will not stop here and try to harm him physically again.

Living under threat

Khattar also revealed that he no longer feels safe. “I and my family are living in fear of an imminent attack. I suspect my business was also attacked by the same Khalistani group,” said Khattar.

After a meeting with the Hindu group president, the Parramatta Police Commander has assured that the police will be extra vigilant and that the frequency of patrol cars will be increased around his area.

The Commander has also deputed an IT team to urgently look into the digital footprints of the fake video.

Indian businesses being attacked

Another Hindu community activist from Sydney on the condition of anonymity said, “What if these people would have found Yogesh Khattar at his business and attacked? Their agenda to spread hate and animosity between communities would have been successful.”

He said that unless the NSW police takes strict action against the Khalistanis, the community will not feel safe.

Reportedly, the Khalistanis had attacked multiple Indian students studying in Sydney who had opposed them during the peak of the farmers’ protest in India.
