Pakistan: Baloch freedom fighters blow up statue of Mohammad Ali Jinnah in Gwadar

0

A statue of Mohammad Ali Jinnah was completely destroyed in a blast in the port city of Gwadar in Balochistan province on Sunday morning. According to a report by Pakistan’s English daily Dawn, the statue, which was installed in June this year at Marine Drive was blown up by placing an explosive device beneath it. The Baloch Liberation Front has reportedly claimed responsibility for the blast.

Gwadar Deputy Commissioner Major (retd) Abdul Kabir Khan said that the BRA fighters had entered the area posing as tourists.

Balochistan’s former home minister and current Senator Sarfraz Bugti tweeted: “The demolition of Quaid-e-Azam’s statue in #Gwadar is an attack on Ideology of Pakistan. I request authorities to punish the perpetrators in the same way as we did with those behind the attack on Quaid-e-Azam residency in Ziarat.”

Baloch people were seen celebrating on social media, asserting that they do not identify Jinnah as their leader.

Additionally, at least 4 Pakistan personnel were killed and two injured in another blast in Balochistan. The blast, whose responsibility was claimed by the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) was carried out targeting Pakistan’s paramilitary forces in the country’s restive Balochistan province, an official informed on Sunday.

As per reports in the Pakistani media, a vehicle of the Frontier Corps was attacked in the Khosat area of Balochistan’s Harnai district on Sunday.

Balochistan, Pakistan’s most volatile province on the southwestern border, has been demanding political rights, autonomy and control over its territory since 1947.

The Pakistan Army has been committing a series of human rights violations in Balochistan for years. From mass killings to abduction, torture and then eventual murder, the province has witnessed unimaginable brutalities over the years. Pakistan has used weapons supplied to it by the US government to wage war against the Balochs.

Kerala: NIA arrests trigger concerns over ISIS sleeper cells, increased propaganda over social media

Amidst growing concerns of rise in extremism among Muslims in the state of Kerala, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) apprehended several persons in the state over terror-related charges. This also led to a rise in suspicions about the existence of Islamic State sleeper cells operating in the state according to a The Hindu report.

Recently, the NIA also filed a charge sheet against Mohammed Ameen of Malappuram, Mushab Anwar of Kannur and Rahees Rasheed from Kollam. A suo motu case was filed against a group of individuals involved in terrorist activities with Mohammed Ameen. Ameen had been running Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) propaganda channels on a number of social media platforms like Telegram, Hoop and Instagram, to spread violent jihad, radicalization and recruitment of new members.

It is said that Mohammed Ameen visited Kashmir to spread terrorism after ISIS Caliphate activities abated in Syria and Iraq. He worked with Rahees Rasheed and a known accused Wilson Kashmiri to raise funds and cultivate ISIS in India.

NIA also arrested two women, Mizha Siddeeque and Shifa Harris from Kannur for having connections with Ameen and spreading ISIS terrorism using social media platforms. Mizha also went to Tehran in order to join ISIS in Syria and later ran an Instagram page to propagate, motivate and radicalise and recruit Muslim youths for ISIS.

The investigations conducted by the NIA revealed that IS is trying to spread its tentacles in India through extensive online propaganda. According to reports, NIA had investigated 37 cases of terror attacks, conspiracy and funding that were inspired by the IS ideology. 168 accused were arrested in these including 31 charge sheets filed and 27 accused convicted after trial.

Recently, in a leaked internal document, the ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Kerala also raised grave concerns about pro-Taliban sentiment among the Muslim community. CPIM Kerala accused the radical Islamist outfit, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) for promoting ‘radicalisation and communalism’ through social media and publications. The party had warned its cadres, “Jamaat-e-Islami, whose goal is to establish an Islamic state, is now trying to spread their ideas in the Muslim community as well in Kerala society. They are using not only their publications but also the social media platforms to spread their ideas.”

The document said, “It is a matter of serious concern that discussion supporting the Taliban is happening in Kerala while it is being condemned by the believers of democracy across the world, including the Muslim community at large.” CPIM has therefore directed its student union and party cadres to reorganise itself and counter the growing radicalisation. It warned of a ‘conscious effort to turn Christians against Muslims in Kerala, who constitute 26% of the population (2011 Census data).’

Calls for ‘Defund the BBC’ rise after £75,000 salary hike for chief and show announcement on BBC presenter who raped children

‘Defund the BBC’ trended on social media after it was reported that chief of the British state media Tim Davie has received a £75,000 salary hike. The pay hike for the Director-General comes days after people over 75 years of age were mandated to pay the BBC license fee for the first time.

The salary hike for Tim Davie is a 16.6% raise, sparking strong criticism from people across the board. “The public’s view could not be clearer — salaries for top executives and stars are too high at the BBC,” Tory MP Nigel Mills said of the matter.

“The idea the person running the BBC earns nearly four times as much as the Prime Minister is baffling. It’s impossible to justify,” he added. On social media, people trended the hashtag ‘Defund the BBC’ to express their anger over the development.

Kelvin MacKenzie, founder of talkSPORT, said that the BBC has gone mad.

Others attacked the British state media along similar lines while trending ‘Defund the BBC’.

People are also angry over a documentary on Jimmy Savile, a late presenter who raped children as young as nine years old while working for the BBC. Savile is believed to be one of Britain’s most prolific pedophile who raped hundreds of women and children. A report found that 73% of his victims were children. His youngest victim was eight years old.

Retired Justice Dame Janet Smith, in her investigation into the matter, concluded that the BBC had missed ‘five clear opportunities’ to stop the ‘serial sexual predator’. According to the investigative report, dubbed the Dame Janet Smith Review, said that the incidents of sexual abuse occurred “in virtually every one of the BBC premises at which he worked”.

As such, people are not pleased that the BBC will produce a documentary on a pedophile who raped children while hosting a show on the network.

Comedian Steve Coogan has been approached to play the role of Jimmy Savile in the “new BBC One drama”. Executive Producer Jeff Pope said, “The purpose of this drama is to explore how Savile’s offending went unchecked for so long, and in shining a light on this, to ensure such crimes never happen again. Steve Coogan has a unique ability to inhabit complex characters and will approach this role with the greatest care and integrity.”

‘Comedian’ Munawar Faruqui’s entire Gujarat tour stands cancelled, Bajrang Dal had threatened disruption

Hours after event organisers 2Jokers Entertainment pulled out from organising the ‘comedy’ show by Munawar Faruqui in Surat, his entire Gujarat tour stands cancelled. Bookmyshow, the ticketing platform as delisted Faruqui’s entire Gujarat tour on its app. His shows in Surat, Ahmedabad and Vadodara were scheduled to take place on October 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.

As one can see in the Bookmyshow app, Munawar Faruqui’s tour to Gujarat, which was a part of his tour named ‘Dongri to Nowhere’, stands closed.

Bookmyshow website

The development came hours after, his show in Surat was cancelled, as the event management company run by one Parth Brahmbhatt pulled out of the show. This comes after organisations such as Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad registered protest against the conducting of the show. They had accused Faruqui of insulting Hindu gods and goddesses and hurting the religious sentiments.

Earlier, Parth Brahmbhatt had refused to cancel the show and urged Bajrang Dal to take the legal route in case they want to get the show cancelled. Brahmbhatt had also said that Faruqui got ‘clean chit’ on the allegations of making anti-Hindu jokes during a comedy show and hence he (Brahmbhatt) would not back off from organising the show.

However, after the Hindu groups insisted that they would buy all the tickets themselves and sit in the audience to have their ‘own show’ by reciting Hanuman Chalisa throughout, Brahmbhatt had probably decided to pull out of organising the show.

Some of the ‘comedy clips’ of Faruqui have been allegedly insulting to the Hindu victims of the Godhra riots of 2002. He had also peddled conspiracy theories of RSS involvement in the Gujarat carnage and mocking Hindu deities in name of comedy at a program conducted in the Monroe Cafe near 56 Dukaan in Indore, Madhya Pradesh in January 2021.

Illegal mosque near Tehri Dam: Locals demand removal of encroachment, govt, administration accused of laxity and delay

A case of land jihad has come to light in Uttrakhand near Tehri Dam. As per the reports, an illegal mosque was built during the early 2000s at a site in Khand-Khala Koti Colony, which was in close proximity of the dam, and since then, Hindu organizations have tried multiple times to get it removed. Recently, in the first week of September 2021, a group of local Hindus started fresh protests against the mosque and paced up the efforts to get over 150 square meters of land freed from illegal possession.

OpIndia reached out to Akshat Biljwan, the person leading the protests, to know more about the case. On September 6, Akshat and other members of the Hindu community of the Khand-Khala Koti Colony area started protests against the illegal mosque that has been built near the Tehri Dam by encroaching the land allocated to the tourist department.

Notably, several buildings, farmlands and religious structures were removed when the Tehri Dam was built. All legal owners of the properties were displaced to other locations, and the authorities paid them compensation and/or provided alternate land. During the construction, the company (JP) that was building the dam built a temporary mosque for the Muslim workers. After the completion of the project, the company and the workers went away, but the temporary mosque was not removed.

As time passed by, several Hindu organizations, including Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal and even local BJP leaders, tried to get the mosque removed. Still, no concrete action was taken by the administration. Akshat said that just a few meters from the mosque, there is a CISF base that protects the dam from any danger. However, no one took action against the encroachers.

Akshat added, “Every Friday, hundreds of Muslims come here to offer prayers. After offering prayers, most of them sit on the road. There is a college nearby, and women from the locality often pass through this road. There have been countless cases of harassment in the region, especially on Friday, where there are over hundred Muslims sitting on the roadside. We have complained several times, but no one is ready to take any action.”

While talking about the person administering the mosque, Akshat said, “Those who come to the mosque are not locals. It is a small locality, and we can identify people by their faces. It is not hard to identify locals as everyone has IDs. But those who visit this mosque are not locals, and it is almost impossible to track them. The Maulvi (Mohammad Usmaan) who manages the mosque also lives far from the mosque. It is absurd that this illegal structure is still standing though everyone knows that it is illegal.”

Protests of September 6 against illegal mosque

On September 6, Akshat and others sat on the protest and raised slogans to remove the mosque built on illegally encroached land and ensure the security of the dam. In a video shared by Akshat on Facebook, he said, “When the dam was being built, the company gave temporary space to the Muslims to offer prayer. Now the company and the workers have left the area. The land has been transferred to the Tourist Department. Officials from Tourist Department, District administration and Police, were present at the scene. During the inspection, they found that the mosque is illegal.”

While talking to senior officials, Akshat also pointed out that some cases of love jihad also emerged in the region where Muslim men identified themselves by Hindu names and tried to lure Hindu girls. He said if the locals found out anyone was trying to lure the local girls and women or trying to harass them, they would take action themselves. He said, “This is not the first case. We are facing such problems daily. The mountain area we live in is supposed to be a calm place. We cannot tolerate such incidents anymore. We will have to take action if Police and administration fail to do so.”

As per the two documents shared by Akshat with OpIndia, on September 6, a joint survey took place around the mosque in which the administration found out that the mosque was illegal. There were some other structures that included some shops etc., which were also built on encroached land. Maulvi Mohammad Usmaan, who manages the mosque, was present at the spot. He was informed by the administration that the mosque was illegal and it had to be removed. Similar instructions were given to the temporary shops built around the mosque.

While talking about the instructions given by the administration, Akshat said that the administration took stern action against the temporary shops around the mosque and removed them. “They make sure to remove any temporary shop in the area swiftly, which is a good thing. However, when it comes to the mosque, everyone is shifting the blame to someone else, and no one is ready to take any action,” he said.

The administrator of the mosque demanded they should be provided with an alternate land to rebuilt the mosque. Akshat said, “We have a strong objection against the demand. When the structure has been deemed illegal by the administration, why they should get an alternate land, that means to get back the encroached land; the government would give them legal possession of a piece of land. This is unacceptable.”

Seeing the situation going against the mosque, the mosque administrator submitted a plea to the state minority commission. Interestingly, the minority commission took cognizance of the case immediately. It further delayed the process of removing the illegal structure. Akshat said, “I am amazed that the minority commission got involved in the case. They know that the structure is illegal. How can they ask the administration to provide an alternate land for the mosque? This is a mockery of the system.”

The incident of September 25

The administration had given 15-days time to the administrator of the mosque to remove the structure that ended on September 21. However, the mosque still stands on the land. On September 25, Akshat and others decided to revisit the area and hold protests against the administration. The officials from the local administration and police reached the spot. During the discussion, one of the officers got into an argument with Akshat, after which the situation almost went out of hand. The officer asked Akshat to lower down his volume that further irked Akshat.

He said, “The officer was new in the area. We do not know him, and he does not know the problems we are facing. When he asked me to lower down my volume, I did not understand what I said wrong.” He, along with his associates who were protesting at the site, tried to march towards the mosque. Police stopped them and pushed them back. Akshat and his associates kept asking the police present at the scene to call SDM as they wanted to know what action was taken by the administration.

SDM assured the mosque will be removed

Finally, when the SDM Apurva Singh reached the spot, she explained the current situation. Akshat shared the video with OpIndia in which the discussion with SDM can be seen. She said, “At this point, those who were administering the mosque have approached minority commission. As per the law, we have to answer them and take further steps, which is taking time.” She assured everyone present at the scene that for the administration, the mosque was on encroached land, it would be removed. “I cannot promise that it will be removed in a day, a week or a month, but I can assure you that it will be removed,” she said.

While talking about the incidents of harassment of women, SDM asked the locals to bring such incidents to the notice of the Police department. She also instructed Police to increase security on Fridays so that such incidents could be stopped. She said, “I am requesting you not to mix the issue of encroachment and eve-teasing. I have asked the Police to increase the security on Friday so that such incidents can be controlled. We will remove the illegal structure, but we have to follow the law.”

She further said that everyone has the right to approach courts, but that does not mean they would get to stay. There are guidelines in place issued by the Supreme Court to remove encroachments on the roadside. “Administration has the guidelines, and we can remove the structure, but we have to follow the procedure. You have to trust us. I understand there is a problem of mistrust, but I am assuring you that the structure will be removed,” she added.

The issue was raised in January

This is not the first time the issue has been raised. In January 2021, Dhan Singh Negi, BJP MLA Tehri, had raised the issue. While talking to OpIndia Hindi, he said that he had approached Tehri Hydro Development Corporation Limited (THDC) several times, but no one paid heed to his plea. The mosque that was located in the region was removed during the construction of the dam. However, this illegal structure was raised during the construction on a temporary basis. The company that was constructed the dam moved out, but the mosque stayed, which is causing a lot of trouble for the locals.

Reaction on social media

A part of the clip from Saturday was shared on Twitter by netizen Gopal Goswami who demanded the mosque should be removed. Several netizens echoed the demand.

Journalist Abhijit Majumdar said, “Are your Uttarakhand police defending the illegal masjid near Tehri lake, @pushkardhami, despite locals’ demands to stop demographic takeover?”

Columnist and Lawyer Divya Kumar Soti said, “Amazing! There are so many restrictions imposed around Tehri Dam, but still, a mosque was constructed!”

OpIndia tried reaching out to the SDM but could not talk in detail about the case.

The problem of land jihad

This is not the first case of land jihad that has come to light. Recently, cases from Surat and other cities of Gujarat were detailed in one of our reports. In the shocking incident, the Disturbed Areas Act was circumvented and permission to construct a building was obtained through seemingly deceitful means. In Surat’s Adajan area, permission to construct a building was obtained by one Raihan Heights project, next to a temple by ‘temporarily’ bringing up a Hindu partner in a Muslim owned enterprise in what appears to be a bid to hoodwink the law.

Several incidents of illegal mosques and Mazars also came to light in recent times. In June, the UP government had demolished one illegal mosque in Hardoi. In March, UP Police arrested a Muslim man in Imartpur Udho village of Mainather District, Uttar Pradesh, where he tried to build a Mazar on land that belonged to a Hindu.

Noida: Bharat Bandh protestors engage in vandalism, break through police barricades

0

Hours after the ‘Bharat Bandh’ announced by Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) came into effect, a mob of farmer protestors were seen breaching security protocols and engaging in vandalism.

ANI reported that a large mob of farmer protestors broke the barricades set up by the police, and reached the Noida Authority office in Sector 6. Although the 10-hour long national shutdown was called for repealing the three farm laws that were enacted by the Union government last year, the demonstrators began demanding increased compensation for the land already acquired by the Noida Authority.

A video of the incident has also gone viral on social media. A frenzied mob of ‘farmer’ protestors could be seen waving the Indian Tricolour, dawning a green cap and pushing against the barricades set up by the police. Meanwhile, the cops deployed on the ground tried to offer resistance but they were clearly outnumbered.

Earlier in the day, farmer protestors were seen sitting on railway tracks at Devidaspura village in Amritsar in Punjab to disrupt commute by passengers through trains. Under the patronage of farmer leader Rakesh Tikait, the demonstrators blocked the incoming traffic from Uttar Pradesh towards Ghazipur.

As commuters took alternate routes and because of increased checking to maintain law and order situation, traffic at Delhi-Gurugram border moved at snail’s pace. The bandh also got backing and support of Congress. Senior Congress leader and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi extended his support to the bandh.

Understanding Ravish ji ki class: GDP = state budget = 3 months ticket sales?

When the government acquires land in order to build an expressway, do they tell people in villages that their bullock carts will not be allowed on the same expressway? Yes, that is an incredibly stupid question. And it makes some incredibly insulting assumptions about the intelligence as well as the standard of living of people in our villages. And yes, Ravish Kumar asked (see from 5:00) this question out aloud on TV the other day, speaking apparently to hundreds of thousands of viewers.

One would imagine there was an editorial team somewhere, and they must have been semi-conscious at the very least. And they must have written and/or approved this.

The cult of Ravish Kumar is no laughing matter. Every night, Ravish takes to television to address his audience. His show is posted not in snippets, but as a single long form video on YouTube, the news show equivalent of a telefilm or single act play. Generally speaking, there is only one topic per night, though sometimes Ravish will spend a few minutes acknowledging all the good that his show is doing in the world. How it is changing lives, making people conscious; how students, workers and farmers are reaching out to him with their hopes and dreams.

I decided to experience one of these ‘classes’ myself, sitting through the whole thing from beginning to end. In particular, this one from Sep 23, on the topic of building statues and memorials for people in our country.

It is mostly a monologue, but cleverly engineered to feel otherwise. Ravish ji speaks in long sentences, with a daze of graphics and newspaper clippings flashing in the background. This gives the viewer the appearance that there are facts and figures to support whatever is being said. And ultimately that the presenter, who is something of a cross between a professor and a preacher, is speaking to you from inside your head. Making you nod.

The trick, however is to stay awake. For instance, about 12 minutes into the video, Ravish ji says that the BJP had criticized Mayawati for building Ambedkar memorials during her term as CM. The claim appears dubious. It seems very doubtful that the BJP or any other party would criticize a memorial for Dr. Ambedkar. Quite tellingly, this claim is not accompanied by a reference on the show itself. If there is a legitimate reference for this claim, I would like to see one. If I remember correctly, there was opposition to Mayawati building statues of herself and her party symbol, not to a memorial for Dr. Ambedkar.

Later in the show, Ravish ji turns his attention to one of the favorite targets of PM Modi’s critics — the Statue of Unity at Kevadia in Gujarat. Ravish ji proceeds to remind the viewer of Piyush Goyal’s words in Jan 2020 that the aim is to have Rs 1 lakh crore of economic output in that area in the next four or five years. In what feels like a dig, he adds that while the annual state budget of Gujarat comes to around Rs 2.25 lakh crore, the minister gave us dreams of Rs 1 lakh crore from a single spot!

Wait! Why would anyone compare the entire economic output of an area to the state budget? The two are very different things. The GDP of the state of Gujarat is around $230 billion or Rs 16.5 lakh crore. Of this, around $80 billion is generated from Amdavad alone. The GDP of Surat is around $60 billion. In his Jan 2020 speech, Piyush Goyal said the aim was to have Rs 1 lakh crore ($15 billion) of economic output in the area around the Statue of Unity. In other words, in 4-5 years, an economic output comparable to about one quarter of Surat city today. The area is being developed as a big tourist attraction with a massive infrastructure push that should bring in more business activity. While ambitious, a $15 billion target, that too after 4-5 years, does not seem quite so unachievable.

Does Ravish Kumar’s audience know that the GDP is different from the state budget? I cannot say. These comments are made 19 minutes into the video. Was the audience supposed to be awake at this point? I also cannot say.

But Ravish Kumar goes on with the same theme. A little later, he says that in Jan 2019, Union Tourism Minister K G Alphons told Parliament that Rs 19.47 crore had been earned as revenue from the statue between Nov 2018 and Jan 2019. I have not cross checked this, but I can presume that these are the ticket sales from that 3 month period. And Piyush Goyal was speaking about 1 lakh crore, Ravish ji adds…

Huh? Why would somebody compare the GDP to the state budget? And then possibly to ticket sales over some 3 month period? What is the connection?

I realized that at this point, Ravish Kumar could have continued by saying almost anything, as long as it had numbers in it. Perhaps something like saying that a pack of biscuits is only Rs 10. Sachin Tendulkar has scored more than 100 centuries in international cricket. In the Mahabharata, the king Dhritarashtra has 100 sons, so what Rs 1 lakh crore of business is Piyush Goyal talking about? When the government acquires land for building an airport, do the farmers know that bullock carts will not be allowed on the runway?

If Ravish ji had actually said this, would it have made a difference to his viewers? I wonder.

But if you ask such questions, you could miss what appears to be the real vibe of the show. As yet, the video has over 250,000 views on Youtube, 16,000 likes and 800 comments, almost all of them dripping with admiration. If there is collective suspension of disbelief, it appears to be a cooperative act. A bit like sitting down in a circle with friends during a power cut or a storm, with candles, telling each other ghost stories. The sense of community is important, not whether the ghost stories actually make sense. Not thinking critically is part of the fun.

Below the video, one commenter, who goes by the username “Farhan Hashmi,” has commented:

I watch and understand every news and interview of Ravish Kumar. For me Ravish Kumar is also a great man.

I believe you, my friend.

‘Peasant rebellion’, ‘Wagon massacre’, tourism circuit: How Kerala govt is whitewashing Malabar genocide of Hindus by Moplah Muslims

2021 sees the 100th anniversary of the brutal Malabar genocide of Hindus by the Moplah Muslims. The Moplah Massacre was one of the most heinous genocides in history, where Moplah Muslims murdered thousands of Hindus in Malabar, Kerala. What started as Malabar Muslims supporting the Caliphate in Turkey under the Khilafat movement, got widespread support from Congress leader, most prominently, by MK Gandhi. While Gandhi believed that these ‘nationalist Muslims’ were fighting against the British, he conveniently glossed over the fact that the Moplah Muslims were actually fighting to oust the British so they could establish an Islamic rule in its place.

According to British records, over 10,000 Hindus were murdered by radical Moplah Muslims in the massacre that started in 1921. The Communists, however, have whitewashed the genocide of Hindus for decades. Continuing the trend, after BJP/RSS held programs talking about the Malabar genocide, the CPI(M) in Kerala has decided to rub salt on the wounds of Hindus yet again.

Communist party in Kerala is now planning to develop a ‘tourism circuit’ connecting the sites of the Malabar “rebellion” to commemorate the ‘peasant uprising’. State Tourism Minister Muhammed Riyas said in Alappuzha that the tourism department will develop a circuit connecting all important sites related to the rebellion in Malappuram. He said it will attract a lot of tourists and history students. He also said it was wrong to call the Wagon Tragedy a tragedy, since it was a “massacre” carried out by the British deliberately.

Riyas further said that calling it a “tragedy” would mean that it was a disaster, however, it was a deliberate massacre by the British of “hapless people”. He essentially said that we are using the term “tragedy” that the British used, thereby doing wrong by the “hapless victims”. Reiterating that it was a ‘peasant uprising’, Riyas said that the BJP was wrong in calling in a ‘massacre’.

What is the truth of the “Wagon Tragedy” that CPI(M) calls the massacre of ‘hapless Moplah victims’

While the Communists want to call the “Wagon Tragedy” and insist that the British massacred “hapless victims”, the reality is far from it. Communist historians have long alleged that the “Wagon Tragedy” was like the Jallianwala Bagh massacre where the British round-up Sikh Indians and shot them dead. In fact, even MK Gandhi had, in his Calicut speech, compared the British’s treatment of Moplah Muslims to that of Jallianwala Bagh. However, it is important to keep in mind that the Sikhs who were massacred were unarmed victims who were nationalists.

The Moplah Muslims, however, were murderers and rioters who had committed a genocide of Hindus and raped thousands of Hindu women. During the Wagon Tragedy, the British had arrested 70-90 Moplah Muslims who had murdered and raped Hindu women. 56 of the Moplah Muslims suffocated to death after those arrested were rounded up in a freight wagon to be transported to Poddanur Central Prison near Coimbatore from Tirur on 19th November 1921. Six more prisoners died en route to the hospital and eight died in the hospital.

It is rather interesting that while the genocide of over 10,000 Hindus by the radical Moplah Muslims is called merely a ‘peasant revolt’ against the landlords while the death by suffocation of those who committed that genocide is called a ‘massacre’ by the Communists of Kerala. If there ever was evidence that Hindus lives matter paltry little when the aim is to appease the Muslim vote bank, this is it.

Was the Malabar massacre of Hindus by Moplah Muslims a ‘peasant uprising’ against ‘landlords’

Not only have the communists whitewashed the ‘Wagon Tragedy’ to allege that the Moplah Muslims who died were hapless victims, but the entire genocide of Hindus itself has also been whitewashed for decades with the Communists and their sympathetic historians and politicians calling it a “peasant uprising” against landlords of the time. The Marxist historians have for decades claimed that any attempt to talk about the real genesis of the genocide is an attempt by the Sangh to communalist the “rebellion” and that it had no Hindu-Muslim undertones, to begin with.

While they acknowledge, at least sometimes, that Hindus indeed were murdered, they give a “context” to the murderers that betray the essence of what happened in 1921. They claim that the landlords of the time ill-treated the peasants and that the 1921 “rebellion” was one where the peasants decided to extract their pound of flesh and revolt against the tyrannical landlords. To justify the murders of Hindus, they conveniently claim that it is only happenstance that the landlords were overwhelmingly Hindu and the peasants were overwhelmingly Muslims. When they further this narrative, they justify the murder and rape of Hindus, almost making it sound like it was divine retribution and an uprising of the downtrodden and oppressed against the rich, arrogant, exploitative Hindus landlords.

In doing so, they not only whitewash the Jihad that was foisted on the Hindus but also subtly claims that Hindus died because Hindus oppressed Muslims. It is their fault. They only reaped what they sowed.

What the CPIM wrote about the Moplah Massacre of Hindus on their website
What the CPIM wrote about the Malabar Genocide of Hindus by Moplah Muslims on their website

The truth of the genocide, however, is far from it. The Moplah genocide of Hindus is hardly taught in our history books and the Khilafat movement leading up to it are shamelessly whitewashed. In our history books, we are often told that the Khilafat movement was one where Hindus and Muslims fought together to oust the British. Essentially, the Khilafat movement was launched by Indian Muslims to support the preserve the authority of the Ottoman Sultan as Caliph of Islam following the breakup of the Ottoman Empire at the end of the war. Indian Muslims were fighting for the Caliph of Islam and also to destabilise the British not for ‘swarajya’ but to replace it with Islamic rule. MK Gandhi, of course, offered his unbridled support to the movement and asked Hindus to die without a fight.

In doing so, Gandhi ended up feeding the hydra of Islamism in India. Gandhi believed that his support for the Khilafat movement would solidify the anti-British sentiment amongst Indian Muslims. It is touted as the first movement that solidified the non-cooperation movement against the British.

The support by MK Gandhi only emboldened the radical Muslims who went on a rampage, killing Hindus, raping Hindu women, beheading children and forcefully converting to Islam hapless Hindus. Those who refused to convert were mercilessly slaughtered. It is said that even pregnant women were not spared, with their blood painting the roads red and their unborn foetuses lying exposed.

The atrocities heaped by the Moplah Muslims and the fact that it was not a peasant rebellion has been meticulously recorded in history, though a large chunk of it was erased by the Communists in Kerala.

While Marxist historians paint the 1921 genocide of Hindus as a one-off rebellion by Muslim peasants against Hindu landlords, several other transgressions had marked the strife between Moplah Muslims and Malabar Hindus. Over 50 such incidents where Moplah Muslims massacred Hindus were recorded in the book The Moplah Rebellion, 1921 written by Diwan Bahadur C. Gopalan, who was the Deputy Collector of Calicut, Malabar. The book is considered one of the most authentic accounts of what transpired in Malabar.

While these historic transgressions by the Moplah Muslims continued, it is pertinent to note that the British appointed a special commissioner as far back as 1852, one Mr TL Strange, to travel to Malabar and find out why the Moplah Muslims were regularly murdered Hindus.

In an 1852 report, Mr Strange summarily debunked the “peasant uprising” theory and wrote:

“It is apparent that in no insistence can any outbreak or threat of outbreak that has risen be attributed to the oppression of tenants by landlords. A great clamour is now raised on this regard, prominently in the southern taluks visited by me, the Moplah population seeking to throw the blame of these outbreaks upon the landlords by thus charging them with being the cause thereof. I have given the subject every attention and am convinced that though instances may and do arise of individual hardship of the tenant, the general character of the dealing of the Hindu landlords towards their tenantry, whether Moplah or Hindu, is mild, equitable and forbearing. I am further convinced that where stringent measures are taken, the conduct of the tenants is in the vast majority of cases, the cause thereof and that the Moplah tenantry, especially of the Taluks in the South Malabar, where the outbreaks have been so common are very prone to evade their obligations and to resort to false and litigious pleas”.

He further said:

“A ‘feature that has been manifestly common to the whole of these affairs is that they have been one and all marked by the most decided fanaticism, and this, there can be no doubt, has ‘furnished the true incentive to them. The Hindus in the parts where the outbreaks have been most frequent, stand in such fear of the Moplahs as mostly not to dare to press for their rights against them, and there is many a Moplah tenant who does not pay his rent, and cannot, so imminent are the risks, be evicted”.

There are several other testaments that prove how the Malabar genocide of Hindus was fuelled by Mohammadan fanaticism and not ‘peasant’ discontent.

Dr Ambedkar had said about the Malabar genocide: “The (Khilafat) movement was started by the Mohammedans. It was taken up by Mr Gandhi with tenacity and faith, which might have surprised many Mohammedans themselves. There were many people who doubted the ethical basis of the Khilafat movement and tried to dissuade Mr Gandhi from taking any part in the Movement the ethical basis of which was so questionable.” (Pakistan or Partition of India, pages 146,147).

Dr Ambedkar had further said:

“As a rebellion against the British Government, it was quite understandable. But what baffled most was the treatment accorded by the Moplas to the Hindus of Malabar,” he wrote. The Hindus were visited by a dire fate at the hands of the Moplas. Massacres, forcible conversions, desecration of temples, foul outrages upon women, such as ripping open pregnant women, pillage, arson and destruction— in short, all the accompaniments of brutal and unrestrained barbarism, were perpetrated freely by the Moplas upon the Hindus until such time as troops could be hurried to the task of restoring order through a difficult and extensive tract of the country. This was not a Hindu-Moslem riot. This was just a Bartholomew. The number of Hindus who were killed, wounded or converted, is not known. But the number must have been enormous.”

Dr M.G.S. Narayanan, former Chairman, ICHR, New Delhi wrote, “Gandhiji was politically innocent at that time to assume in the context of British India that the poor and illiterate Muslim community in India could be drawn into an active political struggle against the British power easily. To please the Muslims, he supported the case of the moribund Khilafat that the British had done away with in Turkey at the close of the First World War. Later Mahatma Gandhi regretted this folly in sponsoring the Khilafat, but it was too late by that time—the damage was done. Instead of coaxing Muslims into social reform and modern education, the Khilafat had legitimised their conservative religious instincts and roused their fears and suspicions about the outside world. It strengthened their communalism, which thrived on hatred against the Hindu Kafirs, lying dormant from the days of Alauddin Khilji and Aurangazeb.” (In his Foreword to the book Gandhi and Anarchy by Chettur Sankaran Nair, page II).

Not just Indian leaders and historians, but Annie Besant, who was a British theosophist, socialist and reformer had written extensively about the Malabar Genocide of Hindus.

She wrote:

Annie Besant, who had presided over the first ‘Reform Conference’ in Malabar in the spring of 1921, also wrote in detail about the event.

“The fourfold programme was begun formally on August 1, 1920; Swaraj was to be attained in a year, and on August 1, 1921, the first step was taken in the Malabar Rebellion; the Musalmans (Moplas) of that district after three weeks of preparing weapons, rose over a definite area in revolt, believing, as they had been told, that British Rule had ceased, and they were free,” she wrote in The Future of Indian Politics (Theosophical Publishing House,1922, p. 252).

“They established the Khilafat Raj, crowned a King, murdered and plundered abundantly, and killed or drove away all Hindus who would not apostatise. Somewhere about a lakh people were driven from their homes with nothing but the clothes they had on, stripped of everything,” she added.

With the extensive record of the massacre unleashed by Moplah Muslims against Hindus in Malabar, it leaves no doubt in one’s mind that it was indeed an element of Jihad that led to the genocide of thousands of Hindus. The genocide was a direct result of Moplah Muslims wanting to destabilise the British to establish Islamic rule and in the process, in true Caliphate style, massacring the Kafirs that stood in their way, mindlessly, mercilessly.

Despite all of this, the Communist government in Kerala today wishes to rub salts on the wounds of Hindus by promoting a ‘tourism circuit’ to prove just how innocent the Moplah Muslims were and how the “nationalists” fought against the British along with their Hindu compatriots and that any transgression that was committed by the Moplahs was actually a result of Hindus being tyrannical. While they have successfully wiped the memory of the Malabar massacre of Hindus by Moplah Muslims from the collective conscience of the nation at large and specifically Hindus, they are now going a step further to discredit the voices that have finally realised that without learning the truth about our past, we are only bound to repeat it.

Toilet cleaners of ISIS today want to whitewash similar Caliphates and their foot-soldiers from 1921

It is imperative to understand the true ramifications of what the Moplah Muslims wanted in Malabar when they tried to establish an Islamic Caliphate, mirroring that of the Ottoman Empire. The Ottoman Empire was based on the fundamentalist tenets of Islam and while Marxist historians have tried to peddle theories of pluralism and brotherhood even under the Caliph of Islam, the truth is far from it. There have been accounts of rampant Jihad against Kafirs in the Ottoman Empire itself – like that of the Christians and Armenians. This is the model that the radical Moplah Muslims wanted to emulate, essentially saying that the Caliph of Islam is the same worldwide, based on their delusions of an Ummah and that they owed their allegiance to the Caliph of Islam (Turkish Ottoman Empire) and not the Indian nation-state that Indian freedom fighters were struggling for.

The Moplahs, therefore, wanted to destabilise the British not because they believed in the sovereignty of India, but because they wanted to establish an Islamic Caliphate in its place. The name that they chose for this crusade was the Khilafat movement, a name that, owing to general ignorance and/or wilful naivety, was open to being misinterpreted by the masses. MK Gandhi and his support for the Khilafat as a movement “against the British” made it almost sound like the meaning of ‘Khilafat’ drew from the word “Khilaf”, or ‘against’, insinuating that the Moplah Muslims were “against” the British. That misinterpretation has been carried on, by stealth, to this date by Marxist historians reiterating over and over again that the Moplah Muslims were fighting against the British.

In reality, the Khilafat movement drew its name for the “Kaliph” since they were fighting to maintain the authority of the Turkish Caliph of Islam. Officially, Khilafat means ‘caliphate’ but also a broader one as ‘succession’ – Specifically Khilafat refers to the leadership of the Islamic community after the death of the Prophet.

In modern times, the perfect example of ‘Khilafat’ can be seen with the establishment of ISIS (Islamic State in Iraq and Syria). ISIS created a Caliph, a leader of the Islamic community after the death of the Prophet, and “ruled” Iraq and Syria in strict accordance with Islamic tenets and Sharia. While the world whitewashed the horror, in part, by saying that ISIS was only a terror organisation that was “using Islam to commit murder and rape”, the truth is that ISIS followed Islam to the letter – just like Taliban is now following Sharia in Afghanistan.

It would not be far fetched, therefore, to compare the Moplah Muslims of 1921 to the ISIS terrorists who are being hunted down today and the Khilafat they demanded to IS in Syria and Iraq. This is the “nationalist movement” that MK Gandhi supported, emboldening the Moplah Muslim terrorists from that time. It is this terrorist movement by radical Muslims that today, the communists want to whitewash as a peasant uprising or rebellion against the ‘tyrannical Hindu landlords’.

It must not really come as a surprise given that from India, Kerala has the distinct accomplishment of being the foremost recruitment ground for ISIS terrorists. While they whitewash a massacre of Hindus that was committed 100 years ago, radical Muslims from Kerala have proved that they are more than happy to even be toilet cleaners of ISIS if it gives them the satisfaction of working for the establishment of a Caliphate.

Kerala CM himself admitted that till 2019, over 100 Malayalis had joined ISIS. While these Muslims from Kerala have been joining ISIS by the dozens, there have been several reports about how ISIS looks down upon these Indian terrorists and insist that they clean toilets. While these young terrorists go to Iraq and Syria with the dreams of beheading Kafirs, imposing Sharia and establishing a Caliphate, these menial terrorists are made to clean toilets for other ISIS jihadis from other parts of the world. Amazingly, the desperation for a Caliphate is such, that these lowly Jihadis don’t seem to mind even cleaning the toilet of these far more “respectable” Jihadis.

If these modern-day Jihadis don’t mind cleaning the toilets of ISIS Jihadis, one has to assume that whitewashing the crimes of the Moplah Muslims who wanted to establish an ISIS-like Caliphate back in 1921 is something that comes rather naturally to them and those who sympathise with these Islamic foot-soldiers.

From cleaning the toilets of those who want to establish an Islamic Caliphate now to whitewashing the genocide committed by those who wanted to establish an Islamic Caliphate then, Kerala has often been at the forefront of rubbing salt on the Kafir’s wound and looking away when their heads, severed from their bodies, lay littered on their green fields. That the Communist government in power now wants to rewrite history to ensure that blind Hindus don’t mind it when it is repeated, is not surprising. It should serve as a warning to all of us – While Hindu Kafirs would be massacred by the Jihadis, the Communists would be standing with them with a pen to write about how our massacre was our own fault.

ED raids Shiv Sena leader Anandrao Adsul’s residence, minutes later his health deteriorates and gets hospitalised

Shiv Sena leader and former MP from Mumbai Anandrao Adsul was admitted to a hospital after his health deteriorated amidst an Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid at his residence. The Shiv Sena leader and his son Abhijeet Adsul are allegedly involved in a Rs 980-crore fraud at City Co-operative Bank.

As per news agency ANI, Adsul was going to be brought to the ED office for questioning after being detained, but his health condition deteriorated following which he was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai’s suburb.

The father and son duo was summoned by the agency and were asked to appear before it on Monday, however, Adsul expressed his inability to be present due to prior engagements in Delhi.

Reportedly, this is the second time a search is being conducted at the Shiv Sena leader’s residence. Apart from his residence, six other premises related to the leader have been searched by the ED after registering a money laundering case against him. The agency had collected several documents during the search for examination and.

Misappropriation of funds

Adsul who was the former chairman of the City Co-operative bank had filed a complaint with the economic offenses wing (EOW) of the Mumbai police alleging misappropriation of funds through loans and illegal transfers by the bank officials.

The Shiv Sena leader had accused the bank officials of giving loans to entities and individuals with very low or no collateral. The ED had initiated a probe based on Adsul’s complaint.

The agency, however, is also probing the role of the politician and his son who is a director on the board of the bank after it allegedly found that Adsul was a beneficiary of some of the loans given by the bank.

The City Co-operative Bank has 14 branches in the city of Mumbai and 90,000 depositors. The bank had been placed under restrictions by the Reserve Bank of India since April 2018.

Several other leaders from the Shiv Sena are now under the radar of the ED.

Delhi HC asks police to ensure Jamia Nagar temple is protected after a part of its Dharamshala is demolished overnight

The Delhi High Court has ordered [pdf] the police to ensure that a temple situated at Noor Nagar extension in south Delhi’s Jamia Nagar is “protected”, “maintained” and not encroached upon by any miscreants.

The order came in the wake of a petition filed by the 206 ward committee of Jamia Nagar, seeking directions to the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) to stop the demolition and illegal encroachment of the mandir and Dharamshala. The petitioner had also sought directions from the court to direct Delhi Police to ensure that the temple is not encroached upon or demolished by miscreants.

Ordering that the layout of the temple must be ensured to be protected, Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva also asked the police to ensure that there is no law and order issue in the area concerned.

“Petition is accordingly disposed of, directing the respondents to ensure that there is no issue of law and order in the area and the area depicted as mandir in the layout plan is protected and maintained as a mandir and no encroachment by any miscreant is permitted on the same,” the judge said.

The petitioner had submitted that a part of the temple premises which housed a dharamshala had been hastily demolished overnight and the entire area had been levelled so that the same can be encroached upon by illegal miscreants. Photographs were shared to show that demolition had taken place.

However, the Corporation said it had not undertaken any demolition activity and that the issue pertained to law and order and protection of the area, which would be under the ambit of Delhi Police’s responsibility. It further added that when the property was inspected, no construction activity was also found on the subject area.

The police, on the other hand, assured the court that they will not allow any encroachment to take place on the said area and the area demarcated as a temple in the layout plan shared during the hearing will be preserved and protected. The counsel representing Delhi Police also ensured that there will be no law and order issue in the region.
