Karnataka: Congress IT cell worker arrested for wishing death upon Amit Shah after he was diagnosed with Coronavirus

On Sunday, the Cubbon Park police reportedly arrested a Congress worker from Karnataka for wishing death upon Home Minister Amit Shah, after he tested positive for the deadly Wuhan Coronavirus.

As per reports, the man has been identified as one Anand Prasad. He lives in Ramamurthy Nagar in Bengaluru and serves as the Secretary of the IT cell of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC). While replying to a Twitter user (named 2020 +ve/-ve) condemning how people celebrated on learning about the news of Shah’s health , Prasad wrote, “Praying he doesn’t come out of this.” In another reply to Twitter user (@RJnaveed12) he wrote, “Mar jaa saaley tadipar“.

The distasteful comments by a Congress office-bearer had sparked demands for his arrest. Prasad was booked by the Karnataka police for promoting enmity between different groups under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) Section 153A.

Earlier, Home Minister Amit Shah had stated that he had shown initial symptoms of coronavirus and hence got himself tested. He said he is doing fine but on the advice of doctors he is getting admitted to hospital. He has urged those who came in touch with him in the past few days to get themselves tested. Union Minister Amit Shah is currently undergoing treatment at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram, Haryana.

DK Shivakumar appeals to Congress workers

The President of KPCC, DK Shivakumar has urged Congress workers to refrain from making derogatory posts against political leaders or target them using their health issues on social media platforms. “It is not in our culture to wish bad for others. Congress is a party that exemplifies brotherhood and humanity,” he tweeted.

Islamists express their glee over the health of Amit Shah

As soon as the news spread regarding Home Minister Amit Shah being tested positive for the coronavirus, Islamists jumped on social media platforms to not only mock Amit Shah and express their happiness but also to wish death upon him. A user celebrated that the news of Amit Shah testing positive for the coronavirus to claim that this was her ‘Eid’ moment. Another user dragged in Baba Ramdev’s immunity-booster kit ‘Coronil’ to joke about Amit Shah’s health and suggested that the Union Home Minister should use it to get cured of the infection.

Kargil War’s retired MiG-23 aircraft installed on AMU campus listed for sale on OLX, proctor says fake ad

In a bizarre incident, some unknown person had posted an ad on classifieds website OLX to sell the old Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-23BN fighter aircraft, a reminiscent of Kargil War, displayed at the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).

The aircraft was gifted to the University by the Indian Air Force in 2009. The University has ordered a probe to find who is behind the advertisement. The plane was listed at the price of Rs.9.99 crore.

Prof Mohammad Wasim Ali, the University proctor, has stated that any present or former student or University member is not involved in the ad that has been posted on OLX. ANI quoted him saying, “The post on OLX about the sale of aircraft installed in the campus is wrong. University has not taken any step to auction or sell it. We are looking into the matter. It’s an attempt to defame the university.” However, there are speculations making rounds that some AMU members might be behind the advert.

The OLX ad for the aircraft

When the information about the ad got viral on social media, the University informed the IT cell of the district administration, police and the classifieds website. The ad was later deleted from the website. The University administration said that they would take legal action against the person behind the mischief.

MiG-23 is part of the mechanical engineering curriculum at AMU

The AMU engineering students learn about the parts, technology and design of MiG-23. Prof MM Sufyan Beg, Principal of Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology, AMU said that aeronautical engineering is one of the subjects of mechanical engineering. Studying about the fighter jet is a part of the lab course of the curriculum.

Several decommissioned aircraft are installed in schools and universities

IAF has gifted several retired aircraft to many schools and colleges. The Modern School in Delhi has a Hawker Hunter (BA-241) installed at the premises. As per a Times of India report, AMU became the first University in Uttar Pradesh and seventh in India to receive a ground attack fighter plane of Indian Air Force in 2009 when the MiG-23 was installed in the premises.

28 years of service

The MIG-23BN, made by the Soviet Union in the 1970s, was introduced into the Indian Air Force on 24th January 1981. The fighter jet was decommissioned after 28 years of service on 6th March 2009. The IAF had used the aircraft in several crucial locations including Kashmir valley, Glaciers in Northern Ladakh and during the Kargil war.

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has a prolonged meltdown, announces a movie on Arnab Goswami, “Arnab, The News Prostitute”

The piercing debates carried out by Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami on the murky world of Bollywood in the aftermath of Sushant Singh Rajput’s alleged suicide seems to have raised the hackles of film director and producer Ram Gopal Varma, who recently announced that he would make a movie on the news anchor.

Lashing out at Arnab Goswami on Twitter, Ram Gopal Varma announced that he would make a movie on him for “talking about Bollywood in a horrible way”. Goswami has been particularly unsparing in his debates on Republic TV, getting celebrities such as Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, South actress Kasthuri Shankar, along with several other panellists to spill beans on the challenges and difficulties faced by newcomers in the industry.

“Was shocked to see #ArnabGoswami talking about Bollywood in such a horrible way ..He calls it the dirtiest industry ever with criminal connections, it’s full of Rapists, gangsters, sexual exploiters and what not?” Ram Gopal Varma tweeted.

However, Varma’s meltdown against Arnab did not stop with just a single tweet. In a series of tweets, the RGV ki Aag filmmaker fulminated against the news anchor for commenting on the untimely and tragic deaths in Bollywood. Speaking on the deaths of Divya Bharthi, Jiah Khan, Sridevi and Sushant, Varma said that all the four deaths happened over a span of 25 years.

The meltdown continued as Ram Gopal Varma added that all the four deaths were of different individuals but for Arnab they all are one and had been killed by an entity called Bollywood.

Varma questions the silence of Bollywood stars and accomplished producers

So thoroughly was Ram Gopal Varma rattled by Arnab Goswami’s diatribe against Bollywood that he even went ahead to urge film producers and directors such as Karan Johar, Aditya Chopra, Mahesh Bhatt and other Bollywood stars to speak up against him.

“And why the hell are you guys #AdityaChopra , @karanjoha, @MaeshNBhatt, @iamsrk, @BeingSalmanKhan and so many others are so scared of the barking #ArnabGoswami that u are hiding under the tables of ur plush offices???” a seemingly exasperated Varma tweeted.

Likening Arnab to evil for all the television viewers in the country, Varma quoted Edmund Burke saying, “For evil to triumph, it only takes few good men to be silent” and questioned the silence of Bollywood bigwigs against Arnab Goswami.

Ram Gopal Varma announces a movie on Arnab Goswami

Deflated by the industry stalwarts’ inaction against Arnab Goswami, Varma announced that he will be making a movie on the news anchor in which he would ‘take the clothes off his facade’ and portray him naked ‘exposing the lengths and breadths of all his vital corrupt stats’.

“My film on him is titled “ARNAB” THE NEWS PROSTITUTE After extensively studying him I mulled on whether the tagline should be The News Pimp or The News Prostitute though both are relevant I finally settled on prostitute for its sound,” Varma added

Ram Gopal Varma’s extended meltdown was touched off by Arnab Goswami’s extremely critical coverage on Bollywood, in the wake of shocking revelations in the alleged suicide case of Sushant Singh Rajput. Goswami’s particularly scathing remarks against the industry riddled with charges of nepotism, connection with the underworld, and several other allegations rankled Varma, and he announced a movie on Goswami to let out his frustration.

“Cannot play Hanuman Chalisa, constantly being threatened by Muslims”: Ground report on how scarred Hindus are being forced to abandon homes after Delhi riots

Even as the situation in Delhi limps back to normalcy, the shattering anti-Hindu massacre engineered by fanatic Muslim mobs has left deep scars on the psyche of Hindu victims. OpIndia in its extensive reportage on the Delhi riots has laid bare the horrors of the atrocity meted out on Hindus from December 2019, which finally culminated into the gruesome riots in Delhi in February this year.

The Hindu families, in the riot-hit areas, are now being forced to abandon homes and sell properties due to the constant fear of reprisal from one particular community. OpIndia ground report reveals how almost 150-200 Hindu families concentrated in three lanes of Delhi’s three Muslim dominated areas- Subhash Mohalla, Madhuban Mohalla and Mohanpuri area in Maujpur have put up posters of ‘The house is on sale due to fear of members of a particular community’ outside their houses as they are being terrorised by the Muslim residents of the locality.

OpIndia spoke to such victims who agreed to come on record on conditions of anonymity.

Repurcussions of anti-Hindu Delhi riots in Mohanpuri area street number 6 to 8:

The Hindu victims took our correspondent through the lane and bylane of Mohanpuri area in Maujpur, which were amongst the worst affected by the Muslim transgression. Almost all the Hindu shops and houses which were attacked, looted or burnt down 5 months ago had posters on its walls which read that “the house was on sale”.

Such is the fear amidst the Hindus living in these lanes that they have barricaded the lanes at their own cost and have kept security who guard these lanes at night. The Hindus said that they are being terrorised by the Muslims in the area who warn them against praying or playing bhajans or even reciting Hanuman Chalisa for that matter, in the temples. These are the same people who regularly indulge in playing azan on loudspeakers, said a Hindu on conditions of anonymity.

The Hindus who had borne the brunt of the devastating Delhi riots recollected how the situation post the riots had become even worse for the women of their houses. Speaking to OpIndia, the Hindus said that in the aftermath of the riots, Muslim neighbours have made it difficult for their women to even come out of the houses.

“You never know when a group of fanatic Muslims might speed past on their bikes, making lewd gestures and comments on the women of our houses. We cannot even argue or stop them from doing so. Should we work or just keeping fighting with them. As it is, we have been rendered jobless after the riots,” said one of the Hindu who was in conversation with us.

They furthered that the Muslims threaten to implicate the Hindus in false cases. Openly threaten them in the middle of the night. During Eid, they recollected, how the Muslim neighbours, purposely sacrificed animals in front of their houses. “We are helpless”, said the Hindu victims.

On being asked whether any MLA or Councilor have paid a visit to them after the riots, the Hindus recalled how MLA Gopal Rai, a minister of AAP government in Delhi, has visited the Muslim neighbourhood and distributed relief material there but has never visited their areas.

Speaking of how Hindus were falsely named and implicated in the Delhi riots, the Hindus recollected the incident, where 16 Hindus were taken under custody for the murder of one Sahil’s father Parvez, solely on the basis that their mobile phones were active within 500 metres of the scene of the crime. They said that neither a charge sheet was filed against these 16 people nor were they granted bail. In fact, using this as an example, Muslims often threaten the other Hindus of a similar fate, recollected one of the Hindu victims.

It is pertinent to note here, that many discrepancies had appeared in case of the alleged murder of the aforementioned Parvez. According to the recorded statements by family members and the FIRs, Parvez had died 3 times in 3 different ways and in 2 different locations.

Moreover, all the 16 accused in the murder of Parvez were Hindus. Most of the accused in the case were associated with Hindu organisations like VHP, RSS and were the only earning members of their respective families. Mostly all of them had shops etc. which were severely broken or set on fire during the anti-Hindu riots. The families had also stated that since the day of their arrest, no communication had been permitted with the accused persons by the police.

Eyewitnesses had told OpIndia then, how Muslims had shouted ‘Allahu Akbar’, threw petrol bombs at Vikrant Tyagi’s house, set his motor cycle on fire, and tried to break the gate. Vikrant Tyagi’s uncle was amognst the 16 Hindus who were named for killing Parvez. Vikrant Tyagi has then pointed out how the accused persons had been taken by the police only on the thin premise that their mobile phones were active within 500 metres of the place of the crime. Raising questions on the investigation, Tyagi had asked: “Thousands of people live in the area. Are they all involved?”

Recollecting this as one of the many incidents, the Hindus speaking to OpIndia said that this was how the Muslims had carefully woven false stories to implicate Hindus during the Delhi riots.

Madhuban Mohalla

OpIndia spoke to one Jayaprakash Maheshwari, who’s son is also falsely implicated in the aforementioned case. Maheshwari, like many other traumatised Hindus in the locality, has also put up his house on sale.

Throwing light on how they have been constantly subjected to threats from unknown people, Maheshwari said that they no longer wanted to live in this area and mentioned how he would leave once his son, who is still in custody, returns.

Be it Atul and Virendra Chauhan of Madhuban locality, or Hindu residents living on street number three of Subhash Mohalla, what is disheartening is that all these victims had similar unfortunate tales to tell. All the Hindu residents in these areas, who are living under the constant fear of reprisal from one particular community, collectively voicing their despair, spoke of leaving the locality and relocating elsewhere.

In fact, recently, North-East Delhi MP and former BJP President Manoj Tiwari also tweeted in this regard. He also visited the affected areas on Friday (31 July 2020). Accusing the AAP government of discriminating against Hindus, the BJP leader questioned Kejriwal for this discrimination.

He too had mentioned how victims recounted that till date the local MLA and other ministers have neither taken care of them, nor they have received any compensation amount. He furthered how the Hindus, in order to protect themselves had got gates installed with their own money, while in the neighbouring areas, the Delhi government had installed gates with taxpayers’ money. Saying so, Tiwari questioned that when during the riots people of both the communities were killed and injured then why was the Delhi Government favouring one particular community.

Significantly, though the anti-Hindu riots took place in North-East Delhi on 24 February, 2020, the conspiracy of setting off the riots was hatched in the January itself. On 23 February, the first incident of violence took place in Zafarabad and the next day, pre-planned riots erupted.

OpIndia has painstakingly chronicled the horrors meted out to the Hindus from December 2019 and which finally culminated into the gruesome riots in Delhi in February this year. OpIndia’s detailed report on the chronology of the event that led up to the riots is now available on Kindle. It has a comprehensive account of the loss of life and property in riots and how Hindus were targeted.

Is ED violating its guidelines by registering money laundering case in connection with SSR’s death? Here’s how NDTV journalists peddled fake news

The Enforcement Directorate has recently lodged a case of money laundering in connection with the alleged suicide of Sushant Singh Rajput. The case was filed after the Bihar Police registered an FIR against the deceased actor’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty. Some individuals, quite clearly, are not happy with the development.

NDTV ‘Journalist’ Arvind Gunasekar claimed that the Enforcement Director was going against its own internal guidelines by registering a case of money laundering in a matter involving two private parties. “The agency usually take cognisance only when ‘public money’ is involved,” he claimed. In his endeavour, he was joined by fellow NDTV ‘journalist’ Gargi Rawat.

Source: Twitter

Gargi Rawat claimed that “Rules don’t matter anymore when someone needs to be harassed,” implying that the Enforcement Directorate was violating its internal guidelines in order to harass Rhea Chakraborty. However, contrary to the claims made, it is perfectly within the jurisdiction of the agency to investigate matters between private parties.

A cursory glance at their website reveals that core functions of the ED include investigations as per the provisions of the Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999 (FEMA) and Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 (PMLA). Thus, quite clearly, the ED is completely within its rights to probe the money laundering angle in the Sushant Singh Rajput case.

Thus, quite clearly, NDTV journalists are peddling misinformation regarding the functions of the Enforcement Directorate.

Enforcement Directorate registers case of money laundering

The development comes a few hours after former Maharashtra CM, Devendra Fadnavis, urged ED to register an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) case after the ‘misappropriation and money angle’ had come to the fore. “Now a money laundering aspect too has come to the fore. It has been observed that money was siphoned off from his account. In such a case, the ED has jurisdiction, so, I have demanded the ED should register an ECIR and probe the matter,” he had said.

Sushant Singh Rajput’s father had filed an FIR alleging that his ex-girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty had stolen Rs 15 crores from the actor. The FIR which was registered against her based on a complaint filed by Rajput’s father KK Singh on Sunday with various sections like 341, 342, 380, 406,420, 306 and 120 (B) of the IPC that include abetment of suicide, alleged that Rhea took money from Sushant.

Second FIR registered against Drone Boy’ Prathap after he calls his lawyer to his hotel to arrange for ‘bail from his quarantine’: Here’s what happened

0

‘Drone Boy’ N.M. Prathap has had a second FIR registered against him after he violated quarantine for the second time. The first FIR was lodged against him after he violated home quarantine, the second was lodged after he violated institutional quarantine. ‘Drone Boy’ violated institutional quarantine after having his lawyer meet him at the hotel he was quarantined in.

‘Drone Boy’ was placed in institutional quarantine at a four-star hotel near Richmond Circle in Bengaluru, as per reports. He then proceeded to invite his lawyer at the hotel. “CCTV footage showed that the lawyer met Prathap in his room and spent an hour there on July 30,” a police official was quoted as saying.

“The first FIR applies to the subject’s breach of home quarantine, while the second applies specifically to the breach of institutional quarantine,” the official said. He described the filing of the second FIR as “unprecedented”. Prathap claimed that he had summoned his lawyer to discuss his bail for his original quarantine breach.

“That is preposterous,” another official remarked. “He was held in institutional quarantine. Where does the question of bail arise?” Prathap has now been booked under Section 51b of the National Disaster Management Act, 2005, in addition to Sections 188, 269, 270, and 271 of the IPC.

‘Drone Boy’ prathap had shot to fame following claims that he had made 600 drones using e-waste. Following his rise to fame, OpIndia published a detailed fact-check of his claims by the end of which it became evident that he was lying. He then attempted to prove his authenticity by trying to ‘debunk‘ the OpIndia report but only tied himself further in knots.

Delhi violence started after Ladeeda’s call to Jihad on 11th December, now, she has another message ahead of Ram Mandir Bhoomi Pujan

0

Days before the much-awaited bhoomi pujan ceremony of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, radical Islamist Ladeeda Farzana, who had made a clarion call for jihad in December 2019, touching off a gruesome wave of violent riots in the national capital, has uploaded a picture of the erstwhile controversial structure at the place which symbolised Muslim tyranny and which was razed to the ground by the karsevaks on December 6, 1992.

Sharing the picture of the now-demolished to dust Babri structure which was illegally built upon the ruins of a Hindu temple, Ladeeda wrote, “Insha Allah, Never forget, never forgive. Izzath.”

Facebook post uploaded by Ladeeda Farzana

Ladeeda’s post, which can be considered reasonably provocative, for its subtle message of continuing to harbour resentment, came days before the historic Bhoomi pujan ceremony of the Ram Mandir scheduled to take place on August 5 and months after the Supreme Court of the country announced its verdict in the protracted legal dispute over the rightful possession of the site. The apex court in November 2019 passed a judgment in favour of the Hindus, allowing them to construct a Bhavya Ram Mandir at the aforesaid site.

However, Ladeeda’s disapproving remarks ahead of the Bhoomi pujan ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya reveals her contempt for the apex court’s order and also for Hindus against whom she had called for Jihad earlier. Since the dispute was fought in the court of law and the construction of a Ram Temple at the site is as per the judgement passed by the top court, Ladeeda’s refusal to accept the top court’s decision reveals her brazen disregard for the rule of law. Not just this, her past Facebook posts betray her allegiance to the radical Islamic extremism and her contempt for Hindus.

Ladeeda Farzana openly gave a call for jihad on social media

Farzana, who had become the face of the Jamia Millia Islamia University protests last year, had in the past openly given a call for jihad in one of her Facebook posts. She said that people should learn about Islamic jihad and made references to Badr, Uhd and Karbala is significant as these are battles where the early Muslims had scored decisive victories against the ‘Kaafirs’.

The Battle of Badr was fought by Prophet Muhammad himself and is considered to be won by Allah’s divine intervention by Muslims. The Battle of Uhud was the second military encounter between the ‘Kaafir’ Meccans and the Prophet. The battle of Karbala was fought between the Second Umayyad Caliph Yazid the first and grandson of the Islamic Prophet. This battle ultimately sealed the Shia-Sunni divide.

Source: Facebook

She ended the post with “La ilaha illa Allah, Muhammad Rasoolullah”, which translates to ‘There is no God worthy of worship except Allah and Muhammad is his Messenger’.

It was after this call for Jihad that violence had erupted in several parts of India, especially Delhi and Uttar Pradesh where Muslim mobs went on a rampage rioting, burning property and targeting Hindus because they perceived that the CAA was against the Muslim community.

In addition to this, Farzana had also glorified the genocidal maniacs who perpetrated the Moplah massacre of Hindus.

Ladeeda, a proponent of Khilafat 2.0 movement

An ugly spate of violence gripped large parts of Delhi in December 2019 when members of a specific community used the pretext of peaceful opposition against the Citizenship Amendment Act to incite violence and unleash chaos in different parts of the country.

The violence that erupted in several pockets of the country in the aftermath of the passage of the CAA saw a nexus of Islamic fundamentalist organizations, foreign-funded NGOs and NGOs linked extensively to Maoists and ‘Urban Naxals’ combating hard to nullify the new Act. The association of dubious groups and Islamic fundamentalist organisations revealed that it was the renewed version of Khilafat movement–Khilafat 2.0, the movement which led to the creation of Pakistan.

Notwithstanding her deeply radical social media posts, Farzana was glorified and lionised by the secular media, most notably by controversial journalist Barkha Dutt, who hailed her as ‘shero’ for leading the Jamia Millia Islamia’s protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act.

With Farzana being the face of the deadly demonstrations that took place at Jamia Millia Islamia, and with her problematic FB posts in the past revealing her dangerous levels of radicalisation, she is seen as one of the proponents of the Khilafat 2.0 movement, a movement that aims to divide the country based on religion.

As such, since it was her call for Jihad that was the first after which, violence erupted across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and other parts of the country, it is certainly suspect when she starts spewing radical Islamist venom days ahead of the Ram Mandir Bhoomi Pujan.

Why it’s wrong to call Aatish Taseer a ‘bastard’ even if he is one

Yesterday, Home Minister Amit Shah was diagnosed as COVID-19 positive. After he tweeted about it there were countless reactions and comments on social media. While most of them wished the minister good health and a quick recovery, some, unfortunately, were unable to hide their savagery and placed their own hatred, pettiness and anger out in the open.

One of them was journalist Tavleen Singh’s son Aatish Taseer. Taseer holds inexplicable anger against the Indian government, especially the home ministry. Showing an unusual amount of rage and hatred, Taseer tweeted in amusive tones, lamenting that he would probably have to show fake concern and wish for the speedy recovery of Amit Shah. He even called Amit Shah a ‘fat bastard’.

The reason for Taseer’s rage and hatred

Earlier last year, his OCI status (overseas citizens of India) was revoked by the government of India. Taseer has allegedly hidden details of his parentage and his OCI status was against Indian law.

MHA tweets on Atish Taseer

The home ministry had stated that Taseer had hidden the fact in his documents that his father was a Pakistani man. Indian law does not allow OCI status to children of Pakistani and Bangladeshis. Taseer was even given an opportunity to submit his objections but he failed to comply. “Thus, Mr Aatish Ali Taseer becomes ineligible to hold an OCI card, as per the Citizenship Act, 1955. He has clearly not complied with very basic requirements and hidden information,” the MHA said.

Tavleen Singh and Aatish Taseer have been fuming, lying and constantly playing the victim over the issue. First, they tried to claim that the decision was wrong. When their arguments fell flat, they stated peddling a narrative that the Home Ministry has ‘exiled’ Aatish Taseer because BJP did not like his articles. Both Taseer and Tavleen had helped fan a narrative that the Indian government had ‘taken away Taseer’s citizenship’ and has ‘thrown him out’. However, in reality, Taseer never was an Indian citizen. He was a UK citizen and a person of Pakistani origin by birth.

Media propaganda over Taseer’s citizenship

When even those arguments failed, they started another narrative, that the ‘evil’ Indian government, (especially the evil Home Ministry led by evil Amit Shah, is preventing them from seeing each other. That was another big, fat (pun intended) lie. In reality, Taseer can come to India anytime he wishes, by applying for a visa the usual way. Similarly, nothing can stop Tavleen from going to USA or UK to meet her son.

So, why so much hate? The actual reason for Tavleen and Taseer’s constant lies and hatred is the sudden slap of reality. They had taken their privileges for granted. They revocation of OCI status will not mean much in terms of Taseer’s citizenship (which was British and is now American), it will not stop Taseer from traveling to India and meet his mother (which, for some unknown reason de has not done yet, even before the international flights were banned due to the pandemic.) The actual reason is the sudden, and very public realisation that their privileges were fake and are now gone.

Why did netizens object to Aatish using the word ‘bastard’?

Seeing the reactions to Aatish’ tweet on the microblogging site, one thing is clear. Many people have pointed it out that Aatish Taseer should be the last one to call anyone a ‘bastard’. The reason, as per common social norms, he is one himself.

Aatish Taseer was born as a result of a brief affair between Tavleen Singh and a Pakistani politician Salman Taseer. Salman Taseer is now deceased, killed by a radical Islamist for supporting the call for a pardon for Asia Bibi, a Pakistani Christian woman who was a victim of Pakistan’s archaic blasphemy laws. It is not known what was the nature of Salman Taseer’s affair with Tavleen and how long it lasted, but it is known that Aatish was raised by his mother alone and Tavleen and Salman did not live together as husband and wife.

Even today, defending her son’s public display uncivilised, hateful behaviour, Tavleen stated that she is the sole legal parent of Aatish.

Tavleen Singh’s tweet

Aatish’ own words for his biological father

In a 2011 article for The Telegraph, Aatish had written that for the most part of his childhood, he did not have any connection with Salman Taseer, a prominent political figure in Pakistan. He had written that when he visited him in Pakistan for the first time, his father had a young wife and children. Aatish’s book (Strangers to History: A Son’s Journey Through Islamic Lands) is about his personal life and his journey to Pakistan mentions that his visit to Pakistan in his twenties was to understand his father, his country and his religion.

In that book, Aatish mentions how his father Salman Taseer was ‘just a photograph’ in his life till that time. Clearly, Salman Taseer, the prominent Pakistani politician who later went on to become the governor of Punjab province, did not have much of a relationship with his child from an Indian Sikh woman.

The word ‘bastard’ and children born outside of wedlock

Most societies, not just Pakistani, or European or Indian, for that matter, hold marriage sacred. Marriages are an institution, perceived by communities to bring order and discipline, to further the lineage and very rightly so. For those reasons, children born to unmarried women, children born outside of wedlock or socially sanctioned unisons of a man and woman have long been regarded as unwanted. It is a troubling reality of human societies. However, personally, I don’t agree to the vilification of children, or the usage of the word bastard as an abuse.

It is not the child’s fault that his parents did not get married. A child not the one who has any say in the matter. It did not decide to arrive in the world knowing that the mother who carried him in her womb was not married to the man whose sperm resulted in his existence. It is vile, almost inhuman to hold a child as an abomination, whatever may be the circumstances of his or her birth. Children are always pure, they are the gift of god, nature’s blessing of procreation and human laws do not mean much in nature.

Why Taseer himself used the word ‘bastard’?

Taseer, of all people, should have known better than to use the word bastard as a derogatory insult. In HBO’s superhit show Game Of Thrones, there is an interesting scene where the Bastard of Dreadfort, Ramsay Bolton, sends a threatening letter to Jon Snow, the bastard of Winterfell, calling him bastard multiple times.

GOT scene when Ramsay tries to insult Jon Snow calling him a ‘bastard’

Throughout the letter, an enraged Ramsay, who skins people alive for his enjoyment and is a cruel psychopath, repeated the word ‘bastard’ multiple times. Ramsay’s intention was to insult Jon Snow. He wanted him to know how he raped and tortured Jon’s sister Sansa, control’s their family property and holds their little brother hostage. Ramsay’s emphasis on the word bastard was a symbol of his own hatred, and deep rooted revulsion against the circumstances of his own birth and identity.

Ramsay’s whole life and his identity was centred around his being a ‘bastard’. His own father had narrated to him how he had raped his mother under a tree and almost had her and the infant Ramsay mauled by his dogs till he decided to adopt his son. Ramsay manages to get ‘legitimised’ by the king, but only after committing grave crimes, and even then, his entire identity, and his ownership of the Winterfell castle is dependent upon him being married to Sansa Stark, the ‘legitimate’ child of Eddard Stark, the former Lord of Winterfell.

Though Ramsay had probably inherited his cruelty from his father, his mad psychosis and savagery were woven around his identity, the stigma of being born a bastard, the result of a brutal rape.

On the other hand, Jon Snow suffered equal levels of social stigma and insults for being born a bastard, but he never takes that as an insult. As advised by Tyrion, Jon wears his ‘bastard’ status as an armour, acknowledging it and coming to terms with it to the level that he can never even dream of using the word as an insult.

The fact that Taseer used the word ‘bastard’ as an insult against Amit Shah is a reflection of his own resentment, his own negativities and hatred. We live in a progressive world where marriages have become almost trivial, and with it, the concept of a legitimate and illegitimate child barely hold any meaning at all. But to use the word as an insult, as Taseer did in his tweet against Shah, one has to truly believe that it is an insult. Taseer is aware that he is using the word as a derogatory, offensive term, he gave the clue himself.

Just after writing ‘bastard’, Taseer has written “who has done nothing but evil his whole life” in brackets. In doing to he is giving a justification to everyone, (and himself) that he is correct to use the word as a derogatory insult against the India’s Home Minister. Taseer’s only grudge against Amit Shah is that he took away his privilege, of holding the OCI status despite not being eligible for it.

So much hatred, so much anger, just for an OCI status revocation?

Taseer and his mother have both created a lot of melodrama over the OCI status. From telling blatant lies to peddling constant victimhood, using their connections to get the order reversed, they have done it all. The question is, why so much anger? Is it because the revocation was taken as an ‘insult’? Or their egos are so fragile that a simple order, which neither affects travel, or Taseer’s citizenship, has pushed them to such blatant displays of hatred and rage?

Tavleen once called Meghna Girish a ‘BJP troll’ and an ‘urban balcony class shedding crocodile tears’ over the death of Indian soldiers. Tavleen’s argument was that she is more patriotic and knows more about the Indian armed forces than a martyred solider’s mother because she ‘grew up near army stations’.

Taseer was also called out by many for his vile comments. However, like his mother, he defended them with impunity.

Responding to a critic who had objected to the words used by him, Taseer argued further to justify how him calling Amit Shah a basatrd was right. He stated, “Shah was as bad a man as there ever was”. And that what Shah did to him ‘pales’ in comparison to what he did to the ‘Kashmiris’.

Notice the exaggerations, the convoluted self-worth and the narcissism here. All Amit Shah ever did to Taseer was revoke a privilege that allowed him to circumvent the usual visa application process that common people go through. The fact that he will now have to apply for an Indian visa just like a commoner, and can no longer waltz into the country as he pleased has caused Aatish so much hurt that he has chosen relentless ranting. His sense of entitlement is so colossal that he takes the scenario of himself applying for a visa like filthy commoners as an insult. A grave offence, that is comparable to the worst of crimes.

And for Kashmiris, all Amit Shah did was to grant them all the rights and privileges that every Indian citizen enjoys, how very cruel of him.

Coming to terms with one’s own identity

It is not our place to comment about Taseer’s personal struggle and the pain of his childhood. That being said, we also need to be empathetic towards him over the issues. For such an educated, privileged and well-travelled man to use the word ‘bastard’ as an insult, with so much anger and negativity towards a person who has been diagnosed with a disease, must mean that there are some deep-rooted issues in his mind about his own birth and identity. It is wrong for the society to label innocent children with this word, when the sole purpose is to brand them as an abomination.

No one should use the word bastard as an insult. The sentiments behind the word and its expression are deeply offensive to the sacred process of birth, motherhood and nature’s laws of procreation. No child is born as an abomination. It is the rigid rules of society that labels them so. Let us hope that Aatish finds peace of mind. And let us hope that no innocent child, regardless of the marital status of his or her parents, gets called a ‘bastard’ ever again.

Father of Sushant Singh Rajput has released a video where has said that he had registered a complaint with Mumbai Police in the month of February alleging that the life of his son was under threat. The deceased Bollywood actor’s family has been saying from the very beginning that they suspect foul play behind his alleged suicide.

The father said, “On Feb 25, I informed the Bandra Police that he is in danger. He died on June 14 and I asked them to act against people named in my Feb 25 complaint. No action taken even 40 days after his death. So I filed an FIR in Patna.” He also expressed his gratitude towards Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar and Minister Sanjay Kumar Jha for supporting him at this time of distress.

Bihar Police Officer quarantined

Senior Bihar Police officer IPS Vinay Tiwari was reportedly sent to quarantine forcefully by BMC officials on reaching Mumbai on Sunday. Tiwari was visiting Mumbai to lead the police team in the Sushant Singh Rajput case. IPS Tiwari was not provided accommodation in the IPS Mess even he requested for it. The officer is currently staying in a guest house in Goregaon.

Maharashtra Police vs Bihar Police

The case has turned into a tussle between Police departments of two states. DGP Pandey earlier said that Sushant’s death should not turn into a Bihar vs Maharashtra when he was informed that Mumbai Police is not providing any assistance. DGP, in one of his statements, urged Rhea to join the investigation as she is currently hiding.

Bihar Police had failed to secure the postmortem report of Sushant Singh Rajput even after visiting the Cooper Hospital in Mumbai. The Bihar Police got involved in the matter after the deceased actor’s father filed a police complaint in the state on tha basis of which an FIR was registered.
