Liberals suffer meltdown on social media after actor Milind Soman reveals his ‘Sanghi’ background

Supermodel Milind Soman has spoken about his experience in an RSS-run Shakha as a child in his memoir ‘Made in India’. In an excerpt published on The Print, the actor speaks of the childhood memories he has of the Shakha. He wrote that he was surprised by the accusations of communal diatribe that is leveled against the Shakha and described it as a ‘Desi Scouts Movement’.

Soman wrote in his memoir, “When I read today all the subversive, communal propaganda the media attributes to RSS shakhas, I am frankly baffled. My memories of what happened at our shakha between 6 and 7 p.m. each weekday evening are completely different—we marched about in our khaki shorts, did some yoga, worked out in a traditional outdoor gymnasium with no fancy equipment, sang songs and chanted Sanskrit verses that we did not understand the meanings of, played games and had a bunch of fun with our fellows.”

Milind Soman further wrote, “The whole thing was overseen by a team of mostly-well-meaning—if not always inspirational—adults, who truly believed they were helping raise good ‘civilian soldiers’— boys respectful of authority, well-behaved in the presence of adults and well-aware of the importance of physical fitness— who would put their efforts into nation-building when they grew up.” He also said that his dad was a member of the RSS and a ‘proud Hindu’.

As expected, liberals on social media are not pleased to learn that one of the most popular and attractive models comes from an RSS background. They have taken to social media to troll the actor.

Others are making poor jokes on the social media platform to cope with the fact.

The reaction from liberals on the revelations made by Milind Soman is along expected lines. They find it tough to fathom that normal everyday ordinary human beings find the RSS a healthy organization contributing fruitfully to society, much less any accomplished individual. While people on the right do not take the political opinions of celebrities too seriously, liberals hail them as intellectuals as it serves their propaganda purposes. Hence, when one of them turns out not toeing the line, the liberal camp suffers an intense meltdown.

Jyotiraditya Scindia is likely to join the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday, the 11th of March. The senior Congress leader had submitted his resignation on the 9th of March. Following his lead, 22 MLAs have resigned in Madhya Pradesh and 200 workers of the party in Gwalior have followed suit.

Sources have reportedly told India Today that the former Congress leader is likely to join the BJP on March 11. Meanwhile, the BJP is expected to declare its Rajya Sabha candidates on Wednesday. Reportedly, even an hour after the BJP’s CEC meeting at the party HQ in Delhi ended on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and party president JP Nadda were still discussing the party’s nominees for the upper house.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has also handed over the resignation letters of 19 MLAs from the Congress party to the Speaker of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly. Despite the obvious political connotations of the gesture, the BJP, for its part, claims that they are merely helping their colleagues in the Assembly. The BJP hasn’t yet sought an appointment with the Governor thus far.

Chennai Court dismisses plea seeking an FIR against superstar Rajnikanth over Periyar remark

A Chennai Court on Tuesday dismissed a plea filed by Dravidar Vidhuthalai Kazhagam (DVK) seeking directions for police to register an FIR against superstar Rajnikanth over his remarks during a speech on EV Ramasamy Periyar.

Earlier this year, Madras High court had dismissed the petition filed against Actor Rajnikanth for his speech in which he said, “In 1971, at Salem, Periyar took out a rally in which undressed images of Lord Sri Ramachandramoorthy and Sita -with a garland of sandal-featured and no news outlet published it. Cho strongly condemned the event by Periyar immediately and Thuglak was the only magazine to do so. This brought a bad name to the ruling DMK who did not want the magazine to be circulated. The issue was seized by the government but Cho reprinted it and the magazine was sold in black. What was sold for Rs 10, was then sold for Rs 50 and Rs 60. Dr. Kalaingar had (inadvertently) promoted the magazine in that way and in the next issue, Cho had thanked him as its publicity manager… “

The DVK had filed a complaint accusing that Rajnikanth defamed Periyar. The DVK sought action against Rajinikanth under IPC Sections 153 (a) (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc.) and 505 (Statements conducing to public mischief).

Rajnikanth, however, refused to tender an apology for his comments on Periyar. The superstar said, “I did not makeup what I said, there are even published stories in media on it. I can show them. I will not apologize.”

Police arrest Chinese man who falsely claimed to have been infected with coronavirus in order to avoid office

The police have nabbed one man in China who lied about being infected with coronavirus in order to avoid going to the office. Reportedly, he informed his office one day about his “supposed” health condition.

Panicked by the false revelation, the office shut down all its operations for three days and quarantined all the employees.

In a bid to lend credibility to his claims, the accused claimed that he was exposed to the deadly pathogen while shopping at a local supermarket when a patient was present in the shop.

The cops soon discovered discrepancies in his story and found that the documents furnished by him as proof of his presence in the supermarket were forged.

The accused was thus arrested and sent to 3 months in prison for spreading misinformation. Following his jail term, he needs to serve an additional 6 months in probation.

This is not the first time that people have risked the lives of others out to avoid personal inconvenience. A couple (in their 50s) and their son(24) who hail from Ranni in Pathanamthitta district of Kerala with recent travel history to Italy evaded health screening at the airport. They have tested positive for coronavirus.

Earlier, a person who was admitted to the district Wenlock hospital in Mangalaru after he exhibited symptoms of coronavirus had gone missing. He arrived at the airport in Mangaluru, Karnataka from Dubai on Sunday.

The patient was supposed to be kept under observation for 24 hours and was to be discharged following routine tests. However, he argued with the hospital staff late in the night, saying that he had not contracted the disease and would undergo treatment in a private hospital. He then absconded from the hospital.

On Monday, a formal complaint was lodged by the District Health Department with the Mangaluru police. The cops have now launched an investigation into the case to nab the escapee.

In another incident, an Irish national who had suspected coronavirus symptoms had gone ‘missing’ from Odisha’s SCB Medical College. He was later found in a Bhubaneswar hotel.

The rift between Chief Minister Kamal Nath and Jyotiraditya Scindia had been growing for a while. However, it appears that Congress did not take adequate measures to bridge the gap. Political upheaval is underway in Madhya Pradesh. Senior Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia has quit the party and 22 MLAs have submitted their resignations following his lead. He is expected to join the Bharatiya Janata Party and his aunt, who is already in the BJP, has called it a ‘Gharwapsi’. Jyotiraditya’s father had himself started his political journey from the Jan Sangh, the predecessor to the BJP which was patronized by his grandmother. Meanwhile, Jyotiraditya’s son Mahanaryaman Scindia has said that he is proud of his father for ‘taking a stand’.

He said, “History can speak for itself when I say my family has never been power hungry. As promised we will make an impactful change in India and Madhya Pradesh wherever our future lies.”

However, Congress sympathizers and supporters have taken to trolling Mahanaryaman for standing by his father.

Some are calling the 24-year-old a ‘rich teenager’ who has ‘neither qualifications nor knowledge’ in their bid to troll the youngster.

Others accused Jyotiraditya Scindia of ‘cutting deals’ with the BJP, ignoring the fact that he was sidelined for the post of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister by the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty.

Others also resorted to trolling Vir Sanghvi, who keeps blocking people if the word ‘Radia’ is ever mentioned in connection to him, for offering words of encouragement to the youngster.

As the political crisis in Madhya Pradesh looms over the Kamal Nath government, MLAs from SP and BSP arriving to meet former CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan has added further fire to the speculations.

SP MLA Rajesh Shukla and BSP MLA Sanjeev Kushwaha had arrived at the residence of Shivraj Chouhan to meet earlier today. Chouhan, while speaking to the media later, had clarified that their visit was not political and they had come just to convey Holi greetings.

The Kamal Nath government was already on a wafer-thin majority with the support of SP and BSP.

Earlier today, former MP Jyotiraditya Scindia had quit Congress. Over 17 Congress MLAs were reportedly hoarded in a Bengaluru resort. After Scindia quitting,  22 Congress MLAs have also resigned from the party.

Six Ministers, namely, Tulsi Silawat, Govind Singh Rajput, Dr Prabhuram Choudhry, Imarti Devi, Pradyumna Singh Tomar, and Mahendra Singh Sisodia also resigned from the cabinet.

Earlier, the BSP and SP MLAs had denied claims of bribery and horse-trading offers from the BJP.

As the future of the Kamal Nath government looks uncertain, similar reports of internal rift within the Congress are being reported from Rajasthan and Gujarat too.

Madhya Pradesh crisis: 22 Congress MLAs resign, including 6 ministers

Following the resignation of Jyotiraditya Scindia from the Congress Party, Madhya Pradesh has been at the epicentre of a political drama. 22 Congress MLAs have also resigned from the party.

They include the likes of Manoj Choudhary, Hardeep Singh Dang, Rajyavardhan Singh, Brajendra Singh Yadav, Jaspal Jajji, Suresh Dhakad, Jaswant Jatav, Santram Sironia, Munnalal Goyal, Ranveer Singh Jatav, OPS Bhadoria, Kamlesh Jatav, Giriraj Dandotiya, Raghuraj Kansana, Aidalsingh Kansana, and Biasahulal Singh.

Six Ministers, namely, Tulsi Silawat, Govind Singh Rajput, Dr Prabhuram Choudhry, Imarti Devi, Pradyumna Singh Tomar, and Mahendra Singh Sisodia also resigned from the cabinet.

Scindia’s decision that catapulted into the Madhya Pradesh crisis in a way seems predictable too. He has been brutally sidelined after the MP assembly elections. Despite his efforts and popularity, the CM’s chair was given to Kamal Nath. Reports have also stated that both Scindia and Sachin Pilot, being strong and dynamic leaders with immense popularity in their states, are seen as ‘competitions’ for Congress prince Rahul Gandhi.

Reportedly, the reason behind the resignation of Scindia has to do with the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. The Congress party could not decide on its candidates due to the pressure tactics employed by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Kamal Nath and Digvijaya Singh.

As per a report in Outlook, Scindia wanted to contest from the first seat as it would have ensured his comfortable victory to Rajya Sabha. The second seat would have been an uphill task for the grand old party.

Addressing a rally at Kudila village near Prithvipur in February, Jyothiraditya Scindia said that he would hit the streets if the Congress party’s manifesto was not fulfilled in the state. Scindia made these promises as he expressed solidarity with contract teachers, who were agitating against the state government demanding regularisation.

Scindia’s threats to Chief Minister Kamal Nath came after Madhya Pradesh Congress government admitted its own failure to deliver the tall promises of farm loan waiver made by their supremo Rahul Gandhi during the Assembly elections campaign in 2018.

Earlier, the change in his Twitter bio created quite a furore over the Internet some time back. Netizens started speculating that the missing ‘Congress’ from the bio may have more than what meets the eye. However, all doubts were put to rest, when Scindia had clarified that he had changed his Twitter bio a month back and not in recent past.

Madhavrao Scindia: Jyotiraditya Scindia’s father, born this day in 1945, died under mysterious circumstances in 2001

Jyotiraditya Scindia, the scion of the Scindia dynasty of the Marathas, has tendered his resignation from the Congress party. He is expected to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), where most of his family practices its politics. His imminent membership of the BJP has been hailed by his aunt Yashodhara Raje, who is in the BJP, as a ‘Gharwapsi’. His father, born on this day in 1945, the late Madhavrao Scindia, is the brother to Vasundhara Raje, who was elected the Chief Minister of Rajasthan from the BJP.

Jyotiraditya’s grandmother, Vijaya Raje Scindia, was one of the founding members of the BJP. For decades, she had patronized the Jan Sangh and been a member of it. His father, too, had begun his political career from the Jan Sangh, a political career cut short by his unfortunate death in an air crash nineteen years ago. Madhavrao Scindia died in a plane crash on the outskirts of Mainpuri district of Uttar Pradesh on the 30th of September 2001.

Madhavrao Scindia was a senior leader within the Congress party. But his rise was halted by the machinations of Sonia Gandhi. At the time of his untimely death, Madhavrao Scindia was fully aware that he would not be able to realize his potential within the Congress party. He could not ever become the president of the Congress party as long as the Gandhi dynasty was still at the helm.

The aircraft Madhavrao Scindia was traveling in caught fire and exploded after hitting the ground on that unfortunate day all those years ago. That he was unhappy within the Congress party is a fact well-known. Despite his capable leadership, he was resigned to the belief that as long as the Gandhi dynasty remained in control of the Congress party, he could not ever become the Prime Minister.

At one point in time, Madhavrao Scindia was the second biggest crowd-puller in the Congress party. British daily The Guardian said of Scindia in its obituary, “His aristocratic lineage, personal charm, articulateness, youthful image and talent for the rough and tumble of democratic politics shaped his mass appeal. Sonia Gandhi may have had the charisma of leadership and the family name, but Scindia had the oratorical powers and was Congress’s second-biggest crowd-puller.”

Madhavrao Scindia contested elections for the first time and won the 1971 general elections on a Jan Sangh ticket from Guna constituency in Madhya Pradesh. His mother, who is fondly remembered by Hindutvavadis as Rajmata, was already a member of the Jan Sangh and a patron of the party. In the backdrop of the emergency, he resigned from the Jan Sangh and in 1980, after stiff resistance from his family, he joined the Congress and won the Guna consistency from the Congress party. Following his death, his son Jyotiraditya has been contesting from the family bastion. From 2002 till 2019, Jyotiraditya Scindia has been the elected MP from Guna.

Many conspiracy theories surround the mysterious death of Madhavrao Scindia. It is speculated by many that the threat he posed to the Gandhi dynasty’s control over the Congress party might have played its part. Only a year earlier, another budding Congress leader, Rajesh Pilot, had died in a mysterious car accident near Jaipur in Rajasthan. Rajesh Pilot is the father of Sachin Pilot whose own political career has been stunted by the Congress party. Numerous others in the path of Sonia Gandhi’s rise to power have died under tragic circumstances, Sanjay Gandhi, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi included.

Madhavrao Scindia had many victories under his belt, he was elected as an MP nine times. However, his most famous victory is undoubtedly the defeat he handed out to Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 1984, who would go on to become the Prime Minister of India in the future. In a last-minute decision, the Congress party decided to field Madhavrao Scindia from Gwalior. By doing so, he also avoided a direct clash with his mother. Until Madhavrao Scindia entered the fray, Vajpayee was expected to score an easy victory in the constituency. However, the scion of the Scindia dynasty managed to defeat him comfortably.

Madhavrao Scindia was one of the five children of the last ruling Maharaja of Gwalior, Jivajirao Scindia. He underwent schooling at Scindia School, Gwalior before pursuing his higher studies at Winchester College and New College, Oxford. Nearly two decades following his death, his son is expected to join the Bharatiya Janata Party, the successor of the Jan Sangh.

It would not be farfetched to say that Vijaya Raje Scindia, who never wanted her son to join the Congress party and had been a patron of the Jan Sangh, would be smiling at the turn of events. In her eyes, her grandson is on his way to correcting a mistake committed by her son. Other members of the Scindia dynasty are already powerful names within the BJP. The addition of Jyotiraditya Scindia to the ranks would bring Madhavrao Scindia’s journey a full circle.
