Jayanti in Sanskrit means holy birth anniversary, victory, and also a flag, Janmotsav means the celebration of the birth.

In Hyderabad, suspended BJP MLA T Raja Singh says that he has been arrested by the police before joining the Hanuman Jayanti procession.

Earlier in the day, Delhi Police had denied permission to the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and another group to undertake processions in the Jahangirpuri area of the national capital on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti on April 6. 

The Calcutta HC ordered the West Bengal government to request central forces to maintain peace during Hanuman Jayanti processions.

"The MHA has issued an advisory to all states in preparation for Hanuman Jayanti. The governments are encouraged to ensure the maintenance of law and order, peaceful observance of the festival, and monitoring of any factors that could disturb communal harmony in society," tweeted the Union Home Ministry.

The Delhi Police had last month denied permission for a Ram Navami procession in Jahangirpuri.

The Delhi Police turned down a request to organise the Ram Navajo procession, citing the law and order situation.

Salman was absconding since Hanuman Jayanti riots in April last year and had a reward of Rs 25,000 in his name.

The Delhi High Court rejected a plea filed by Jahangirpuri violence accused calling it a fraudulent one, filed solely for the purpose of obtaining anticipatory bail
