"Now gangsters and mafia cannot threaten businessmen over phone. Uttar Pradesh today promises a better law and order situation," UP CM Yogi Adityanath said.
While Yogi Adityanath is known for his muscular approach to dealing with criminals and mafia syndicates, a lot about the killing of Atiq Ahmed did not particularly make a lot of sense and several questions have emerged ever since.
“As long as there is a BJP government and Baba (Yogi Adityanath) is the chief minister, you (mafias) should either leave the state or shut down activities,” Mahant Raju Das said.
In April 2019, the Supreme Court directed the transfer of Atiq Ahmed to a high-security jail in Gujarat on charges of kidnapping and assaulting a businessman while in jail.
