Kashmir: Terrorists slit throat of a teenage boy, second killing in 48 hours

Earlier too there have been innumerable incidents of such abduction and carnage where civilians, politicians and Army personnel have been targetted.

A 19-year-old boy was brutally killed by slitting his throat, hours after he was abducted in South Kashmir’s Shopian district. This comes barely a day after a schoolboy was summarily executed by terrorists on suspicion of aiding security forces in neighbouring Pulwama.

Huzaif Ashraf alias Raja Kandur, who was from neighbouring Manzgam in Kulgam district and Shahid Ganaie and Farooq Thokar, both belonging to Saidpora Payeen, was abducted by militants from a bakery in Saidpora Payeen village of Shopian on Saturday. Huzaif’s body was found in Shopian’s Hermain village, about 10 km from the place of kidnapping, with his throat slit mercilessly.

A police spokesperson said, “Police retrieved the body of civilian from Hermain village in Shopian. He has been identified as Huzaif Ashraf. The body of Huzaif was handed over to his family after completion of the medico-legal formalities”. The investigation has been initiated. A case under relevant sections of law has been registered in the concerned police station.

The police are still investigating why the three were abducted and one of them was killed. The three, according to the police, had no political links, which normally trigger such abductions by militants in the Valley.

According to local reports, two more civilians have been abducted from Meemender village of Shopian district on Saturday evening.

Since Thursday, this is the second incident of abduction and killing in the district.

The valley, infested with terror, went into a chilling shock on Friday, when Hizbul Mujhadeen released a spine-tingling video of shooting an abducted teenager Nadeem Manzoor in cold blood in the Pulwama district of south Kashmir.

Incidents of such gruesome killing are not new in the valley. Earlier too there have been innumerable incidents of such abduction and carnage. Civilians, politicians and Army personnel have been often targetted.

In August it was reported how in yet another barbaric incident, terrorists have killed Bharatiya Janata Party Pulwama President, Shabir Ahmad Bhat. Last year, the terrorists had killed Gowhar Ahmed Bhat 30-year-old youth wing leader by slitting his throat in Shopian district.

Similarly, a shocking incident which had left the country traumatised in June this year was the brutal killing of rifleman Aurangzeb, wherein, Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists had filmed his gruelling torture in the forests of Jammu & Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Days later, Jammu & Kashmir policeman Javed Ahmed Dar, who also kidnapped from a medical store in Shopian, and found murdered.

At the time of this report, yet another youth has been reportedly abducted in Shopian. We shall update the report once more details are available.
