In Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar district, an illegally constructed mosque Madani Masjid was demolished by the administration on 9th February. The bulldozer action came after it was found that the mosque’s map was not approved and some part of it was built by occupying the land of the police station and municipality.
After the complaint, an investigation was started on 18 December 2024. The mosque committee did not respond to the three notices during the investigation.
The administration issued a notice of action on the mosque for not submitting the map. After this, the Muslim side went to the High Court. The High Court stayed the action on the mosque till 8th February. The very next day after the stay expired, the administration arrived with a heavy police force and about half a dozen bulldozers and razed the Madni Mosque located in Hata Nagar to the ground.
Reports say that the construction of this mosque started in the year 1999. When its construction started, at that time only the map of its two floors was approved. Later, bypassing the rules and regulations, four floors and a ground floor were constructed in the mosque. After this, when people complained about this to CM Yogi, he ordered the administration to take action on it.
The administration says that there is no land in the name of the mosque. The Muslim party has only 15 decimals of land in its name. The mosque was being made even bigger by occupying the remaining 23 acres of municipal land. The municipality repeatedly warned about this, but the Muslim party continuously ignored it.
