On 29th October (Sunday), police said that the SIT probing the alleged cryptocurrency scam conducted searches at 41 different locations in Himachal Pradesh. During these raids, they arrested one of the main accused Abhishek Sharma, who had been evading arrest so far.
According to the Police, Abhishek is a resident of the Una district and he was one of the four main accused in the scam that started in 2018. Back then, they approached people with an investment plan related to a locally made (Mandi district) cryptocurrency known as “Korvio Coin” or KRO coin, police added.
Earlier, the police arrested the other two main accused Sukhdev and Hemraj in Gujarat. During investigations, they confessed that they have outstanding liabilities of Rs 400 crore. However, the fourth accused in the case, Subash is also the alleged kingpin of the scam. He is still at large and is reportedly hiding in Dubai.
A statement issued by the police said that Abhishek was apprehended by the SIT and produced in a court, which remanded him to five-day police custody.
According to the statement, the agency conducted searches at 25 places in Hamirpur, seven in Kangra, four in Bilaspur, two each in Mandi, Una, and one in Solan district.
During these searches, they also recovered crucial evidence, including incriminating documents, property records, mobile phones, and other digital devices, the statement added.
Speaking to PTI, DGP Sanjay Kundu said that the evidence collected during these searches will play a vital role in our ongoing investigation. The senior police official added that it brings them one step closer to holding the culprits accountable for their actions.
DGP added that so far 10 people have been arrested in this multi-crore cryptocurrency fraud case.
According to the police, the scammers lured innocent people by promising handsome returns in a short span of time and built a network of investors. Three to four kinds of cryptocurrencies were used and fake websites were created, in which the cryptocurrencies’ prices were manipulated and inflated, police added.
The SIT investigations revealed that more than one lakh individuals were duped in the alleged fraud. Around 2.5 lakh IDs have been found which include multiple IDs of the same person in connection with this case.
The officials said that the accused used a combination of misinformation, deception, and threats to maintain control over the scheme causing huge financial losses to the victims. The victims also include more than a thousand police personnel who had fallen prey to the fraud.
According to the officials, while a majority of the police personnel were duped of crores of rupees, some of them made huge gains, opted for the voluntary retirement scheme (VRS), and became its promoters.
The DGP had earlier assured that the investigation was progressing in an organised and planned manner. The senior Police official added that all those involved in the scam will be dealt with strictly according to law.
In the wake of these scams, Police have constantly warned the general public to remain vigilant and exercise caution on such investment schemes, particularly in the cryptocurrency space. Cryptocurrency is a digital currency meant to function as a medium of exchange over a computer network. It is not dependent on any central authority, like a government or a bank, to regulate or maintain it.
On 29th October (Sunday), the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) informed that thousands of people plundered warehouses and distribution centres of the UN aid centres in Gaza to grab flour and other basic survival items. In a statement, the UNRWA warned that these are worrying signs that “civil order” is on the brink of a breakdown in the Palestinian enclave.
UNRWA’s Gaza chief Thomas White said, “This is a worrying sign that civil order is starting to break down after three weeks of war and a tight siege on Gaza.”
The UNRWA said that one of the warehouses in the central town of Deir el-Balah had been used to store supplies from humanitarian convoys that began crossing into Gaza from Egypt on 21st October.
It added, “Thousands of people broke into several UNRWA warehouses and distribution centres in the middle and southern areas of the Gaza Strip, taking wheat flour and other basic survival items like hygiene supplies.”
A spokesperson for the agency Juliette Touma stated that the crowds broke into four facilities on Saturday. She added that the warehouses did not contain any fuel, which has been in critically short supply since Israel cut off all shipments after the start of the war.

AFP news agency has published images in which people could be seen carrying food bags on Saturday as they stormed the supply centre in Deir el-Balah in the southern Gaza Strip.
During the initial phase of the Israel-Hamas war, the Jewish state originally imposed a total blockade on food, water, medicine, and fuel deliveries into Gaza. However, it later allowed humanitarian aid convoys — excluding fuel — to bring supplies in from Egypt. It also resumed some of its water supply.
According to UNRWA, since then 84 aid trucks have crossed into Gaza but the numbers are far too low. Before the conflict, UN figures showed an average of 500 trucks a day entering Gaza carrying suppllies. It is notable that even during peacetime, Gaza is completely dependent on external aids.
UNRWA’s Gaza chief White added, “Supplies on the market are running out while the humanitarian aid coming into the Gaza Strip on trucks from Egypt is insufficient. The needs of the communities are immense, if only for basic survival, while the aid we receive is meager and inconsistent.”
A senior spokesperson for the World Food Programme (WFP) asserted that the raids at several aid distribution centres in Gaza on 28th October (Saturday) were “expected” as people are facing difficult conditions.
Speaking to the BBC, Abeer Etefa said, “The bottom line is that people are desperate, they are hungry.” Etefa argued that phone and internet blackouts may have contributed to the events at the warehouses and distribution centres. She said that the WFP had to halt its distribution of food because it was unable to communicate with teams on the ground. But we’re resuming today now that the service is coming slowly back.
UNRWA was established in 1949 after the first Arab-Israeli war. It provides public services including schools, primary healthcare, and humanitarian aid in Gaza, the West Bank, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon.
A police officer from Jammu and Kashmir was shot and severely wounded by terrorists in downtown Srinagar on 29 October when he was playing cricket at an Eidgah ground with several local youngsters. The wounded was identified as police inspector Masroor Ahmad Wani. The cop was swiftly transported to a hospital after the incident. According to reports, he is receiving medical attention and his condition is considered critical.

A pistol was used by the terrorists to carry out the crime. The Resistance Front (TRF), a terrorist group supported by Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba has taken responsibility for the attack, according to police sources who added that CCTV has been scanned to obtain further information about the perpetrators. They also revealed that Momin and Basit Dar, two terrorists from LeT are operating in the region.
Security has been tightened and the area has been cordoned off to track the assailants. Meanwhile, a case has been registered by the police as well.
The development transpired just a few days after Pakistan Rangers engaged in an unprovoked firing and bombarded at the international border with mortars and injured two members of the Border Security Force (BSF) and a civilian on 26 October. Dozens of locals have fled their houses in search of safety as a result of the shelling that is targeting residential areas.
Key officials from Jammu and Kashmir as well as representatives from other security agencies attended a high-level conference that was called on 25 October at the headquarters of the 15 Corps in Srinagar. The involvement of foreign terrorists in Kashmir was one of the main subjects covered during the meeting. Notably, five Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were eliminated earlier on 26 October in an encounter between them and security forces in the Machhal area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
Only nine of the 46 terrorists killed in Jammu and Kashmir this year were locals, while 37 of them were of Pakistani descent, based on official figures. In the 33-year history of terrorism in the Union Territory, this is the first time that the number of foreign terrorists murdered has quadrupled over the number of local terrorists.
The Resistance Front
The Resistance Front or TRF is a separatist terrorist organisation involved in the ongoing insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir. Indian security agencies accuse it of being an offshoot of the militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). It operates primarily in the Kashmir region with a main base in Srinagar.
It was founded by Sheikh Sajjad Gul of Srinagar and Muhammad Abbas Sheikh of Kulgam, a former Hizbul Mujahideen commander after the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019. It is considered the deadliest and biggest terrorist outfit in the current era of Kashmir militancy. It carried out dozens of attacks across Jammu and Kashmir targeting Indian security forces, pro-Indian politicians, Hindu activists, non-Kashmiri migrant laborers and Kashmiri pundits.
Importantly, the terror outfit claimed credit for the Anantnag incident on 14 September and alleged that the attack was carried out as payback for the assassination of their terrorist Riyaz Ahmad alias Abu Qasim inside the Al-Qudus mosque in Rawalkot, Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Colonel Manpreet Singh, Major Ashish Dhonak and Deputy Superintendent of Police Humayun Bhat were killed in action during an encounter with terrorists in the Kokorenag area of Anantnag.
The Police arrested a 23-year-old man who allegedly raped a woman when he went to deliver groceries at her house at a residential complex in Uttar Pradesh’s Greater Noida, police said. The incident took place in the morning hours of 27th October (Friday).
The arrested accused has been identified as Sumit Singh while initial media reports had disputed claims about the identity of the accused with some saying Sumit Sharma (25), a resident of Achheja village in Greater Noida. Moreover, while some reports say he raped the woman, others say he gripped her and tried to rape her, but failed to do so.
The victim woman had used a grocery-delivery mobile app to place her order and Sumit was assigned to deliver it. According to media reports, on reaching the flat, Sumit realised that the woman was alone in the house. It is alleged that he forcefully barged into the house, outraged her modesty, and tried to rape her. He also physically assaulted the woman. Following the assault, he swiftly fled away from the crime scene.
Immediately after the incident on the same day (27th October), the woman registered a police complaint which prompted police to launch a manhunt to nab the accused.
SHO of Bisrakh police station, Anil Rajput said, “At (around) 5.09 am, she ordered eggs, bread, and milk from an online grocery store. The accused arrived with the items after a few minutes and forced his way into the flat when she opened the door. He groped her. When she tried to fight him off, the accused thrashed her as well.”
He added, “The woman’s family has lodged a complaint. We have registered an FIR against the delivery agent under sections 376 (rape), 511 (attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life or other imprisonment), and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code. Ten teams have been formed to arrest him. CCTV footage from the society and nearby areas are being scanned as well.”
The police formed multiple teams to apprehend the accused, and they finally located Sumit in a residential area in Greater Noida. But when a police team reached the spot to arrest him, he managed to grab a pistol from one of the constables and ran away.

Afterwards, police brought reinforcements and SWAT teams to search the area and apprehend him. During the manhunt, he fired at the police teams when they got close to him. In the retaliatory police firing, he was shot in the leg. Subsequently, he was arrested and is currently being treated at a hospital.
It has been revealed that Sumit has been arrested in the past for selling illegal liquor.
A blast occurred in Ranchi which is the capital of Jharkhand near Sadabahar Chowk in the Namkum police station area which led to the injury of one sweeper named Bunty. The windows of many houses were broken and their roofs collapsed. The sound of the blast was heard up to two kilometres away which caused fear among the populace. The Bomb Disposal Squad also arrived at the location after getting the information.
The incident transpired during the burning of a garbage heap in a waste dump and resulted in chaos in the area. The wounded was transported to a hospital and his condition is reported to be critical. The authorities immediately reached the location and started an investigation. A police probe is underway to determine the exact reason behind the occurrence and officials are refusing to state anything on camera. The rural SP (Superintendent of Police) Minj informed over the phone that no bomb or bomb-related components had been found in the inquiry of the bomb disposal squad.
There was reportedly a pile of rubbish close to Sadabahar Chowk and several individuals decided to burn the waste by setting it on fire. There was a loud explosion in the trash not long after it had been lit on fire. The Namkum police were notified of the instance after locals hurried the injured to the hospital. The explosion was so loud that it broke the windows of a nearby house. The residence of a woman Narmada Devi is close to the location and the windows of her place smashed and a car was damaged as well.
The bomb disposal squad was dispatched by the Senior SP of Ranchi due to the gravity of the situation. The crew used metal detectors to thoroughly examine the explosion site and its surroundings. The team did not discover any evidence of explosives in their examination. It is believed that methane gas was formed in the trash as it had been piled for several days and triggered the garbage to explode when it caught fire. However, the squad has taken a number of samples from the location which would be tested at the FSL (Forensic Science Laboratory).
The bomb disposal squad searched Narmada Devi’s entire home to retrieve any explosive elements that may have contributed to the explosion. However, despite searching for nearly an hour, they were unable to locate any explosive remnants.
The daughter of now-arrested West Bengal Forest Minister, Jyoti Priya Mallick, had deposited a whopping ₹3.37 crores in her bank account after the 2016 demonetisation exercise.
Priyadarshini Mallick had deposited the large sum of ‘unaccounted money’ into her Union Bank of India account. This was despite the fact that she was a school teacher by occupation and her annual salary that year was just ₹2.48 lakhs.
During her interrogation by the Enforcement Directorate, she claimed to have earned over 3 crores through tuition.

ED found cash deposits of ₹4.3 crores in the IDBI Bank account of Mandipa Mallick, the wife of Jyoti Priya Mallick. On Friday (27th October), the Enforcement Directorate arrested the TMC Minister for his involvement in a public distribution system (PDS) scam during his stint as ‘food Minister.’
He is accused of laundering ₹95 crores through a web of shell companies. Jyoti Priya Mallick has been remanded to ED custody till 5th November 2023.

Earlier on Thursday (26th October), West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee lashed at the central agency threatening it with police action if the senior Trinamool leader was harmed in any way.
Speaking in a press conference at her Kalighat residence Mamata said, “BJP is in engaged in a devious strategy under the guise of ED raids on opposition leaders nationwide ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. It will not help them to win. Jyotipriya Mallick is in poor health. He is suffering from high blood sugar. We will file an FIR against the BJP and the ED if any harm befalls him during searches at his residence.”
Former U.S. President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump intends to reinstate the travel restriction on citizens of some countries with a majority of Muslims. He made the announcement at the annual summit of the Republican Jewish convention in Nevada, Las Vegas on 28 October. He pledged, “We will keep radical Islamic terrorists the hell out of our country. You remember the travel ban? On day one I will restore our travel ban.”
He also addressed the subject of the widespread anti-Israel protests taking place around the nation, which have often descended into violence and instilled terror in both the general public and the Jewish community. “They want to destroy our country. Under Joe Biden, we have not one but two immigration disasters. We have one on the border and we have one in the Biden State Department which is admitting colossal amounts of jihadists into our communities, campuses and our refugee programs.”
He further continued, “That’s why you see all of these big demonstrations in New York and Chicago. Nobody can believe what’s taking place. He asserted that the travel ban put in place during his presidency was a prominent achievement. “So, I instituted what we call the Trump travel ban and it was an amazing success. It was suspended immediately upon his coming into the country and I never talked about this for four years. I never mentioned it. We didn’t have one incident in four years because we kept bad people the hell out of our country. We kept them out. We didn’t have one, not one instance.” When he took office in 2017, he put broad limits on traveller entrance from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria Yemen and initially, Iraq and Sudan.
He brought up the extremist Islamic ideology and assured, “I didn’t want to say it during the 4 years. I didn’t want to walk out at the speech and have something happen, right? I’ll also be implementing strong ideological screenings for all immigrants coming in. If you hate America, if you want to abolish Israel, if you sympathise with jihadists, then we don’t want you in our country and you’re not going to be getting into our country. I will cancel the student visas of Hamas sympathisers on college campuses.”
“The college campuses are being taken over and all of the resident aliens who joined in the pro-jihadist protest this month. Nobody’s ever seen anything like it. Come 2025 we will find you and we will deport you.” He referred to the alarming scenes at the anti-Israel demonstrations and mentioned that they were “caused by some very bad troublemakers.”
He added, “The events that you’ve been watching in the past three weeks, crooked Joe Biden has turned a blind eye to the greatest outbreak of anti-semitism in American history. You have the greatest I call up friends of mine who happen to be Jewish. I say are you watching what’s going on? They’re actually frightened that these are some pretty strong people. They’re tough people. They’re frightened. Their kids are afraid to go to school and they never had that before.”
He also denounced Congresswomen Ilhan Abdullahi Omar and Rashida Harbi Tlaib for their support of anti-Israel elements. “But in our colleges, media and even government, nobody’s ever seen anything like Rashida Talib and Ilhan Omar who openly campaign against Israel. Nobody’s ever seen this before. When asked recently about rising anti-semitic hate, Joe Biden’s own press secretary had nothing to say about the rabid mobs in the street and they’re shouting ‘Kill the Jews, Kill the Jews’ and she had nothing to say.”
He charged, “In fact, she stuck up for the other side. She started talking about the other side. You all saw it. Nobody could believe it. Then she came back later and said that she misunderstood the question. As president, I will absolutely protect our Jewish citizens from these maniacs, lunatics and radical left thugs. Threats or crimes of violence against Jews will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Right now, they go after Republicans including me. They go after lots of people.”
“While in office I took the strongest action of any president in history to combat the vile scourge of any anti-semitism. You know that I signed a landmark executive order fighting anti-semitic hate on college campuses and affirming that discrimination against Jewish students will be aggressively punished as a violation of civil rights and we didn’t have that if you can believe it,” the billionaire businessman turned politician remarked.
He once again confirmed, “When I get back into office I will put every single University and College president on notice. The American taxpayer will not subsidize the creation of terrorist sympathisers on American soil. Colleges and universities will purge the anti-semitism and pro-terrorism. This pro-terrorism is so out of control that nobody’s ever seen it before. They will lose their accreditation and every last penny of federal student loans. It will not be paid to them and probably shouldn’t be paid to them anyway.”
He urged the audience, “Never forget the same radicals tearing down posters of Israeli hostages. Can you imagine, at our universities ripping them right off the wall? I couldn’t believe it. They are the ones tearing down statues of our American heroes, defunding our police, destroying our justice system and demolishing our borders. These are the same people that you have, the same people who are not good people for us. The United States and Israel represent the Pinnacle of Western Civilization which is exactly what these people want to destroy.”
He accused, “They want to destroy it. This is why those who chant death to Israel also always chant death to America. Have you ever noticed they always put them together? That’s why American patriots and supporters of Israel and you have tremendous support in this country. I can tell you that you must stick together. Come hell or high water, you have to stick together. We must have strong borders, strong military, strong family, strong cultures and above all we must have a strong American president, that’s where it starts. You don’t have a strong president. The rest is just words. It’s only words. You never had any of these problems for four years. You didn’t have any of these problems. Think of it. You wouldn’t have Ukraine, you wouldn’t have Israel being attacked, you wouldn’t have inflation, you wouldn’t have anything.”
However, the front-runner for the Republican Presidential nomination was slammed by the White House for his statement. White House spokesperson Andrew Bates stated, “In 2020, President Joe Biden decried the ‘unconscionable’ rise in Islamophobia which he called a ‘pernicious disease’ and was proud to overturn the vile, un-American Muslim ban enacted by his predecessor.”
Within the first week of his administration in 2021, President Joe Biden lifted the restriction. He proclaimed, “The need to come together against rancid hate is more pressing now than ever, as American Muslims and Arab Americans increasingly find themselves the targets of appalling smears and heartbreaking violence including the barbaric killing of a 6-year-old child.”
According to him, President Biden has taken extraordinary steps to combat Islamophobia since taking office and more similar measures would be adopted. “These disgraceful attacks against Arab Americans and the Muslim community are the opposite of what we stand for as a country, and they must be forcefully condemned by all Americans who, like President Biden, believe in human dignity. The spike in Islamophobic incidents is a direct attack on the character of our nation. It’s critical that we give hate no safe harbour.”
In front of hundreds of applauding fans, Donald Trump also vowed to assist Israel’s efforts to defeat Hamas, protect the United States and the Jewish nation from savage terrorists and undo the appeasement of Iran by the Biden administration.
“To every Israeli and every American touched by these barbaric activities, we love you, we’re with you, we grieve with you, we share your anger and we stand with you 100%, 110%. To every American who is terrified that Joe Biden’s weakness will bring our country to ruin, I make you this promise, as your President, I will restore peace through strength and yes, I will prevent World War III.”
He claimed to have kept Israel, the United States, and the world safe during his four-year presidency. “Today, the world is blowing up all around, no matter where you look. If I were President, the attack on Israel would never, ever have happened. We eliminated the world’s top terrorist, the most brutal terrorist of them all, the Iranian Butcher Qasem Soleimani. We eliminated him.”
He voiced, “Instead of cuddling up to the killers in Iran as Biden has done, I will once again sanction them until their ability to fund terror is absolutely gone. And I will unleash the most powerful economic weapon there is on Earth, drill baby drill! After decades of broken promises by past leaders, I kept my promise, recognised Israel’s eternal capital, and opened the American embassy in Jerusalem.”
He vowed that when he is back in the White House America’s adversaries would understand once more that if they attempted to harm Americans they would be executed. “If you spill a drop of American blood, we spill a gallon of yours.” Furthermore, he declared that he would end the Biden administration’s open border policies.
On 29th October, the 106th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baat program was aired. This competition is a wonderful opportunity for our athletes with intellectual disabilities to display their capabilities. In this competition, the Indian Team won 200 medals, including 75 Gold Medals.”

In the Siddharth Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh, another case of love jihad has come to the fore wherein a Muslim man named Saud Alam posed as a Hindu named Raj to lure a Hindu girl staying in Lucknow into his love trap and had sexual relations with her. But when the man vanished after some days, the girl arrived at his house, only to find that he is a Muslim. Following this she filed a police complaint.
When Saud Alam was in Lucknow, he met the Hindu girl and lured her into a relationship by pretending to be a Hindu boy named Raj. The girl is a resident of the Salempur area of Deoria and studies law in Lucknow.
After spending some time with her, the boy left her and went back home. Following this, the girl went from Lucknow to Siddharthnagar to find him. The accused Saud Alam is a resident of Ramgarhwa in Siddharth Nagar.
The girl reached Chilhiya police station in Siddharth Nagar on Friday (27 October), where she learnt that he was a resident of Ramgarhwa of Chilhiya police station area and belongs to the Muslim community. lodged a complaint against the man.
She arrived at the boy’s house after getting the address, but reportedly, the accused Saud Alam’s family expelled the victim when she arrived at his residence in Ramgarhwa. Following this, the Hindu girl on Saturday (28 October) filed a complaint at Chilhiya police station. The police registered a case on the victim’s complaint.
The police on Friday sent the girl to a Sakhi One Stop Centre run under the Ministry of Women and Child Development as it was late in the night. When the victim’s brother arrived on Saturday morning to pick up his sister, she refused to go with him and went to the police. The victim demanded the police take stringent action against the accused Saud Alam or get her married to him.
Meanwhile, Shoratgarh Circle Officer (CO) Arun Kant Singh said that a complaint was lodged by a Deoria resident victim studying in Lucknow. He added that the accused allegedly took advantage of the victim by making false promises of marrying her. CO Singh further stated that a case was registered in the matter and the accused Saud Alam has been taken into custody. The police said that further investigation is underway.
Amidst the ongoing investigation into the serial blasts on 29th October at a Jehovah’s Witnesses prayer meeting at a convention centre at Kalamassery in Kochi, a man named Dominic Martin has surrendered before Kerala police. Martin surrendered claiming responsibility for the blasts that left one woman dead and over 40 injured.
Dominic Martin claimed to have placed the bombs at the convention centre, where three explosions occurred this morning.
“One person has surrendered in Kodakara Police Station, in Thrissur Rural, claiming that he did it,” Kalamassery, Kerala ADGP (law and order) MR Ajith Kumar said adding, “His name is Dominic Martin, and he claims to be a member of the same group/sabha. We’re looking into it. We are looking into all aspects of this case…The explosion occurred in the centre of the hall.”

The police said that it is not yet confirmed if Dominic Martin is behind the blasts or not, adding that the person is being questioned.
Notably, the convention centre where the bomb blasts occurred was holding a religious meeting of Jehovah’s Witnesses, a Christian group. Following the blasts, Kerala DGP Dr. Shaik Darvesh Saheb briefed the media stating that it was likely an IED blast.
Meanwhile, officials probing the Kerala blasts stated that they are thoroughly examining the CCTV footage of last three days at the convention centre to find out when and by whom the bombs were planted. The Kerala DGP has asked the public not to spread provocative or hateful messages on social media. He also warned that stringent action will be taken against those who are found indulging in it.
Kerala authorities have also enhanced security in 14 districts, railway stations, and bus stops. According to media reports, the state authorities have issued a direction to all 14 district police chiefs in the state asking them to remain careful, and alert, especially around railway stations and bus stations. They have warned that Police patrolling should be strictly ensured.
