Outfit that helped Rohingya Muslims settle in India now seeks donations to help ‘victims’ of the anti-encroachment drive in Jahangirpuri

A fundraising campaign has been started to help the ‘victims’ of anti-encroachment drives across the country. Various state governments, including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and the New Delhi Municipal Corporation authorities in the national capital, had razed down building belonging to encroachers, following which a campaign has been launched, apparently with the aim of helping the ‘victims’ of the anti-encroachment drive.

Mohammed Zubair, the co-founder of the alleged ‘fact-checking’ website Alt News, put out a tweet initiating a fundraising campaign to “help people whose buildings and shops” were demolished. He asked local volunteers to help in collecting the names of the people who would need help.

He asked others to share the link so that they could donate to ‘victims’ of Khargone, Karauli, Sendhwa, Jahangirpuri and Roorkee.

Several other left-liberal ‘journalists’ also shared the links of the alleged fundraiser asking people to fund Muslim ‘victims’. They shared the links to fundraising events started by the Miles2Smile Foundation.

According to the fundraising platforms Ketto’s links shared by Mohammed Zubair, the rehabilitation work is being carried out by an obscure organisation known as Miles2Smile Foundation.

However, it turns out that the Miles2Smiles Foundation, which is raising funds for the alleged victims, had previously raised funds for illegal Rohingya Muslim immigrants settling in the country. The Miles2Smiles Foundation claims to be an organisation that provides relief and rehabilitation to distressed individuals or groups and educational upliftment of the marginalised and underprivileged.

According to their website, the foundation has carried out eight fundraising campaigns to help more than 1,800 victims of the Bihar Floods, the Covid-19 pandemic and also the Muslim ‘victims’ of the Anti-Hindu Delhi riots that took place in February 2020.

Well, apart from helping to raise funds for Indian Muslim ‘victims’, the foundation has also helped illegal Rohingya Muslims who have settled in camps in the country.

The Rohingya connection of Miles2Smiles Foundation

According to Aasif Mujtaba, the founder of the Miles2Smiles Foundation, the organisation had set up a learning centre at a Rohingya camp at Nuh in Haryana. The organisation had raised funds for the construction work for the Rohingya Refugees at Nuh in Haryana and had also built housing units, he had claimed on Twitter in January this year. It is worth noting that Nuh belongs to Mewat in Haryana, the region that is notoriously known as “Mini Pakistan“, where tales of abduction, rapes and forced conversions of Hindus have been routinely reported.

Besides learning centres for illegal Rohingya Muslims settled in the county, the Miles2Smiles had also started a fundraising event to enrol around 150 Rohingya kids on the centre to make them learn English, Maths, Science, and Computers along with Urdu and Arabic. Strangely, the foundation had also arranged Quran classes for the Rohingya kids at the refugee camps at Nuh, Haryana.

In March this year, Aasif Mujtaba had put out another tweet saying it is heart-wrenching for him to witness the atrocities and genocide being allegedly committed against the Rohingya Muslims and expressed happiness for working with them in Nuh and Delhi.

It is pertinent to note that Rohingya Muslims, often portrayed by the left intelligentsia as one of the most persecuted minorities globally, have turned out to be a security threat in many countries where they have been rehabilitated. India has been deeply involved in rehabilitating and sheltering the battered ethnic group. Currently, there are about 36,000 Rohingyas in India, out of which only 9000 are officially registered. They remain concentrated in states like Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Assam, Jammu and Kashmir and Delhi.

However, Rohingya Muslims are now becoming a genuine security threat to India. Rohingya Muslims are reported to have links with global jihadi outfits, including terror organisations that are supporting an armed jihad in Jammu and Kashmir. In addition, many Rohingyas who are settled in various parts of the country have been caught for their role in violence and other criminal activities.

Miles2Smiles leads the campaign to seek donations for the ‘victims’ of the anti-encroachment drive in Jahangirpuri

Just last week, following the Jahangirpuri violence, the local Hindus had suspected the role of illegal Rohingya Muslims settling in Delhi and Bangladeshi Muslims in the attacks against Hindus. The locals who were attacked by the mob of Muslims in this area held the Rohingyas and Bangladeshi Muslims responsible for the crimes that took place in the area.

Strangely, the same organisation, with a dangerous record of funding illegal Rohingya settlers in the country, has started fundraising campaigns for the illegal encroachers. Some of them have been accused of instigating violence against Hindus across the country.

On the looks of it, the fundraising campaign is another attempt to compensate the poor Muslim ‘victims’ who have been accused of pelting stones and unleashing violence against Hindus who participated in a procession that passed through the region on Hanuman Jayanti. Perhaps, the fundraising campaign serves two intentions for the liberal-secular establishment, the first being consolidating financial resources for the encroachers; secondly, and possibly the most important thing: to portray Muslims as ‘victims’ of ‘vendetta’.

It is not clear whether it is just Muslim ‘victims’ who will benefit from fundraising initiated by Miles2Smiles Foundation. Several Hindu families have also lost their houses and commercial establishment owing to the rule of law followed by these authorities during their anti-encroachment drive. So far, based on the tweets of the promoters, there are no signs that the Hindu victims, who were not only at the receiving end of attacks by Muslim mobs, but also the anti-encroachment drives, will also be compensated.

So far, the fundraising campaign has managed to raise Rs.19.42 lakhs within a span of 24 hours. The foundation has set a target of raising Rs.1 crore to help ‘victims’ of anti-encroachment drives.

Rajasthan: Locals in Alwar in tears after losing their homes and an ancient temple in a demolition drive, have been without meals for four days

0

Several locals in Alwar’s Rajgarh region are in a state of grief following the demolition of a temple and their homes, following which they are now struggling to feed their families. Rajgarh officials bulldozed the homes of around 85 Hindu households as well as a historic Hindu temple as part of a ‘road-widening’ drive citing a metropolitan masterplan, which left these locals devastated.

People were sobbing and sharing their grief with Republic Media after their homes were demolished on the orders of the administration. The anger of the residents was visible on their faces after their homes were destroyed by local authorities.

A woman said angrily, “No one is helping us in this condition. All of our houses have been demolished and the authorities did not even listen to us once. We have all the documents but still, there is no one to speak from our side.”

When asked about the demolition of Rajgarh’s 300-year-old Shiva temple, residents stated, “Nearby stores and houses are also razed in the name of development.  We have no source of income and have received no assistance from the administration till now. We don’t even have access to electricity because the power was disconnected during the demolition.”

The demolished Temple in Rajgarh

One of the locals added, “Johari Lal Meena (local Congress MLA) is doing this because we elected BJP councilors in Rajgarh. Our children are terrified, and we haven’t been able to cook for four days.”

Johari Lal Meena is the MLA of Alwar. There was also a viral video circulating in which Meena allegedly said that the bulldozer would not have worked had there been a Congress board in Rajgarh. It is notable that the BJP rules the Nagar Palika in Rajgarh. Stuck in the middle of this power struggle between BJP and Congress, the poor locals are suffering having lost their homes.

Notably, Rajgarh officials razed the homes of around 85 Hindu families as part of a ‘road-widening’ drive justified by a city master plan. According to an article in Dainik Bhaskar, the ‘station road’ in Rajgarh has a ‘masterplan-approved’ width of 60 feet just over a stretch of 120 meters or so, from Nandlal Shah Garden to Saini Dharmshala. The rest of the road is less than 50 feet wide.

According to reports, numerous stores that had been approved by the government itself decades ago were razed without giving notification to the occupants. The local authorities and MLA have all declined to comment on the matter.

Update

The District Magistrate Shivprasad Nakate said that a “consensus” decision was taken during the municipality meeting to remove the illegal encroachments present on the roadside, that included the 300 years old temple. He also claimed that temple priests shifted the idols to another place before the demolition.

Ukraine’s ambassador to Japan to speak at JNU online event, shares misinformation about India’s permission to aid-carrying plane

Ukraine’s ambassador to Japan has created a stir by his tweet spreading misleading information about India. Jawaharlal Nehru University’s Center for Russian and Central Asian Studies under the School of International Studies has organized a lecture by Dr Sergiy Korsunsky who is currently Ukraine’s ambassador to Japan.

The topic of the lecture scheduled on 30th April 2022 at 4 PM via Google Meet is ‘Decoding the war in Ukraine: What is the End Game?’. The lecture will take place through a google meet.

image via Twitter

Sharing information about this lecture, Dr Sergiy Korsunsky tweeted, “I will be lecturing at the JNU in New Delhi, India about the war in Ukraine. Since India did not accept a request from Japan for SDF aircraft with humanitarian aid, it is time to tell Indians the truth.”

The tweet by the Ukrainian ambassador to Japan displays a hostile tone against India. The information he shared in his tweet is in sharp contrast with the steps India took to help Ukraine in the hour of crisis.

Korsunsky did not share that India had given permission for a commercial aircraft to pick up aid materials. The military plane was given only overflight clearance.

India had given clearance to commercial aircraft to pick up aid supplies for Ukraine, SDF was given overflight clearance

India had received a request for overflight clearance for the Japanese self-defence force (SDF) planes carrying humanitarian cargo. The request was processed as per established norms and India gave approval to the request from Japan and noted that the humanitarian supplies for Ukraine and its neighbouring countries can be picked up from the outpost of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Mumbai through commercial aircraft.

Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs Arindam Bagchi had said in a regular media briefing on April 21, “We had received a request from Japan for permission to land in Mumbai to pick up humanitarian goods for Ukraine & its neighbouring countries from India. We have given the approval to pick supplies by using commercial aircraft.”

He further said, “We had also received a request for overflight clearance for Japanese SDF aircraft carrying humanitarian cargo for Ukraine. This was processed and approved as per established norms.”

India had sent help to Ukraine

India has been consistent in its statement over the Russia-Ukraine war. While India has not joined Western nations in sanctioning Russia, India has been stressing on peaceful resolution of the crisis by mutual dialogue. PM Narendra Modi is one of the few global leaders who have spoken to both the Ukrainian president Zelenskyy and Russian president Putin about the crisis, humanitarian efforts and evacuation of civilians.

On March 1, India had sent the first tranche of essential aid consisting of medicines, medical equipment and other relief materials. The second tranche of shipment was sent on March 9 through Romania.

A six-month plan for defeating Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind’s violent political agenda, the root of Islamism and radicalisation in India

The clerics of Jamiat seem to think that they are smart and untouchable. But their time is up because they have insulted Islam, duped Muslims, and played a role in terrorism directed at the majority community in India.

These are strong words indeed. But they are supported by extensive details of the so-called “Antiterrorism Conference” hosted by the Jamiat at Deoband in 2008. Moreover, since that time, Jamiat’s actions have only served to reinforce the stated outlook and intent.

Jamiat stands for a council of Islamic scholars. In particular, it manages Deoband Islamic seminary, which has graduated thousands of clerics who control most of the mosques in India.

My recent research article shows that clerics are at the forefront of radicalizing their flock. This should be no surprise to the majority in India. But for the people in the West, that is not so obvious. This is the reason the Afghan Taliban managed to drive America out. It is a mistake to presume that the West knows everything “better” because it excels in science, medicine, and technology. In my view, on the topic of terrorism, countries such as India have far more practical knowledge compared to the West.

Why have clerics become so influential? My article provides an answer for the first time. By calling Sharia (which is a clerical interpretation of Islam) “God’s law,” allegedly covering all aspects of a Muslim’s life, clerics can exert control over the lives of those Muslims who believe in Sharia.

Indeed, Jamiat does not let go of any prominent occasion to advocate for Sharia. The declaration of the 2008 Deoband Antiterrorism Conference in India attended “by an estimated 10,000 Islamic clerics, scholars, muftis, and teachers of madrasas” from across the country called on Muslims “to spend their lives . . . following [the] Islamic Shariah and teachings with full confidence.”

By ordaining Muslims to spend their lives following their Sharia interpretations, when Islam itself does not limit where to acquire knowledge, Jamiat clerics have insulted the religion itself and those who follow it of their own accord.

What also stands out is Jamiat’s duplicitous behavior in conveying false narratives to both Muslims and non-Muslims. The conference declaration accused the West and Israel of “state-sponsored terrorism” when Indians were most concerned with Pakistan’s sponsorship of terrorism directed at India. It also demanded that the Indian government curb those in the state machinery who “malign” Muslims. But it did so without mentioning that the machinery had found links between local Muslims and terrorist acts.

From my research involving Muslim communities in 20 nations across the planet, in 10 countries where the majority of the Muslims favoured Sharia law, Islamist extremist groups had a strong presence in eight nations and a weak presence in the rest of the two.

Thus, the support for Sharia law in a Muslim community is a good measure of its radicalization and its support for violent extremism. A 2021 poll conducted in India showed that 74% of Indian Muslims preferred Sharia courts over regular ones.

Hence, the stone-pelting (especially from mosques) we have witnessed in Ram Navami or Hanuman Jayanti processions are not due to intelligence or administrative failures or let alone be “provocations,” but are the inevitable consequence of Jamiat and the clerics it graduated propagating Sharia, radical agendas, and false narratives. Not surprisingly, Jamiat is at the forefront of defending or overturning Muslims accused or convicted of terrorist activities.

Therefore, in India, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind forms the fountainhead of Muslim radicalism and violent extremism. The central government is considering banning the Islamist outfit, Popular Front of India (PFI). Such a move should be welcomed, but ultimately the buck stops with Jamiat and the clerics it has graduated.

These clerics are oppressing their flocks by discouraging modern education and undercutting Muslims’ integration with the rest of society. All of this, put together, constitutes a political agenda of the clerical cadre and, arguably, should be seen as distinct from the religion of Islam itself. In other words, to neutralize the threat of Jamiat, the clerics must be separated from the faith, and a wedge between them and the flock be driven without speaking ill of the religion and by portraying ordinary Muslims as being duped by the Islam-insulting clerics.

Even in Saudi Arabia, where Sharia was the law of the land until recently, the Sharia interpretations are often contradictory – telling evidence that they are clerical opinions after all. Moreover, Sharia law there was not codified. Under Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the kingdom has moved away from the narrative of Sharia as divine law toward a much more secular law that is codified. Hence, there is no justification for using Sharia law in India, as it would also mean giving legitimacy to the entities that systematically radicalize their communities.

As per the 2011 Indian census, among the children of age five and below, over 20% of them were Muslims, while the overall Muslim population percentage was only about 14%. Such data should not be alarming, except that from every Muslim majority region of South Asia, non-Muslims have been massively driven out to India, thanks mainly to the clerical incitement. Thus, the escalating acts of Muslim extremism in India are an existential threat few non-Muslim Indians can afford to gloss over. The advent of the movie Kashmir Files has awakened the majority to this impending threat while at the same time exacerbating tensions with Muslims.

To the extent it is necessary to neutralize the power of Jamiat-trained clerics, it is hard to see it being carried out if their ability to command and assemble their flock in mosques remains. But under an emergency rule, neutralizing Jamiat and its clerics should be less complicated than it seems because the emergency powers can be used to declare these entities as enemies of the state and ban their affiliated institutions from assembling their flock. At the same time, a campaign shall be directed at them and by discrediting Sharia as mostly their mere opinions. Such a step largely takes out the mosques operated by these clerics as the staging posts and nerve centres for organized violence and, importantly, as centres of indoctrination.

Indians are naturally proud of being the world’s “largest” democracy. But it is not a functional one if it cannot guarantee the safety of its citizens under the growing threat of Islamist extremism. It is important to note that South Korea, Taiwan, and Singapore became functional democracies through authoritarian regimes that put a premium on economic growth and stability. Being culturally similar, India can and must move in that direction to save itself. In any case, the escalating communal conflict will likely drive India to declare an emergency. But it should instead do so on its terms.

The strength of Islamist extremism lies in conducting political activities masquerading as religious ones, driven by religious leaders. But with its power so concentrated, it is a one-trick pony, which could be its fatal weakness.

I am not advocating violence against anyone, be it clerics or ordinary Muslims, but only those steps that ensure human rights and religious freedom for all of the concerned parties. Moreover, such efforts are not directed at all Islamic institutions but only at those led by the Sunni, Jamiat-trained clerics (which should be about 90% of the mosques, as the Sunni sect consists of 90% Indian Muslim population). I believe that the duration of six months should be sufficient to drive a wedge between Jamiat clerics and the Muslim populace and bring safety and security to non-Muslim communities all over. However, bringing religious freedom to the vast majority of India’s Muslims – a scenario in which they feel free to pray to whoever they choose, including Lord Ram – could take up to 5 years. This may read like a fantasy, but it is impossible to arrive at solutions without first debating them.

IRCTC deletes tweet that was seen as endorsing genocide of Hindus as ‘fake news’ after leftists outraged about a newspaper distributed in train

On Friday, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) stirred a controversy after its statements on a Bengaluru based newspaper was misunderstood as its comments on the content of the paper. Due to the misunderstanding, IRCTC deleted its tweets about ‘The Aryavarth Express’, which was found to be distributed free in a train as a promotional move by the publisher.

It all started when a ‘Gender justice campaigner’ named Gopika Bashi was offended after spotting the newspaper in the train she was travelling it. Calling it “blatantly propagandist publication” on Twitter, she demanded to know why a copy of the paper was on every seat of the Bangalore-Chennai Shatabdi Express, and asked how IRCTC is allowing this, tagging the official Twitter handle of the corporation.

Her tweet was further amplified by one ‘journalist’ Rohini Mohan, who called the newspaper a ‘rag’, saying ‘It has no bylines, has fake news, dangerous Covid misinfo on its website’.

Soon after this, IRCTC sprang into action and issued a clarification that it is not distributing the newspaper in trains. IRCTC tweeted saying that ‘The Aryavarth Express’ was distributed as inserts inside ‘regular approved newspaper’ by the vendors.

The corporation added that the vendor “has been strictly advised to avoid any such inserts in future”. It added, “Onboard monitoring staff will keep a strict vigil on the same. The licensee of the train has also been counselled”.

Screenshot of the now deleted tweets

DRM Chennai also joined in, asking DRM Bengaluru to “investigate this as this isn’t the authorized newspaper to be given to passengers on the train”. The official Twitter handle of DRM Chennai added, “We kindly request urgent action on this.”

However, this action by IRCTC and the railway official boomeranged, as now it was the turn of nationalists to slam it for its comments. It is to be noted that the newspaper ‘The Aryavarth Express’ especially writes about atrocities on Hindus, Sikhs, and Buddhists, which is the reason the liberals were outraged after spotting it in the train.

Following the outrage on Twitter, IRCTC deleted the tweets. The Railway ministry said that IRCTC’s tweet was only regarding the distribution of the newspaper and not on the content of the paper, and as it had created misunderstanding, it was deleted.

“The Twitter handle of IRCTC had replied in good faith and had given explanation about procedures and vendors, but the same was being misunderstood as comment on content of the publication. The tweet was thus deleted as IRCTC does not deny atrocities heaped on religious minorities,” a source in the Railway Ministry said.

Several Twitter users had slammed IRCTC for its unnecessary harsh comments on the newspaper, as it was only being distributed free as part of a promotional campaign. Netizens commented that a newspaper is facing action because it talks in favour of Hindus.

“Why are pro Hindu voices being curtailed in the name of some warped idea of secularism of these blue ticks,” one person asked tagging the Railway Minister.

Some commented how it shows freedom of speech and expression is only for some, as IRCTC has effectively banned the newspaper inside trains, even if it was distributed as inserts with other papers.

Many people also demanded to know exactly what are the ‘approved regular newspapers’ that can be read in trains.

It seems that IRCTC acted in haste while responding to the complaints of spotting the newspaper in trains, and therefore they had to delete the tweets. As IRCTC is not paying for the ‘The Aryavarth Express’ to be distributed in trains, it could have clarified only that, avoiding other comments about ‘unauthorised distribution’ and warning the vendors. They could have just said that they are not paying for the newspaper, and passengers who do not like it can avoid reading it.

Pamphlets of various campaigns are always distributed with newspapers as inserts, and IRCTC or any other bulk purchasers of newspapers had never complained about them, and didn’t label that as ‘unauthorised distribution’. Therefore, the comments were clearly unnecessary, and hence were taken back.

Till the time of publication of this report, IRCTC has not posted any revised tweet on the matter.

Attack on Hanuman Jayanti Shobha Yatra in Jahangirpuri was planned a week in advance by mastermind Ansar Sheikh: Reports

On Friday, April 22, sources in the Delhi Police’s Crime Branch, investigating the attack on Hanuman Jayanti Shobha Yatra in Jahangirpuri, Delhi on April 16, revealed that the attack was pre-planned by the prime accused Mohammed Ansar Sheikh. As per a report in Live Hindustan, Ansar had allegedly organised a meeting seven days before Hanuman Jayanti to execute the attack on the Shobha Yatra that would be held on that day.

Ansar, residing in Jahangirpuri’s C block, is allegedly the area’s Muslim leader. When the procession arrived near the Masjid, he is said to have started an argument, and when the discourse turned heated, the procession came under a violent attack.

According to privy to the probe, Ansar had convened a meeting with 30 people, including a few juveniles, at Kushal Chowk in Jahangirpuri a week before the attack where it was decided how they would block the procession. The accused were communicating through WhatsApp call to avoid being recorded.

“Red colour stones were assembled by the accused on the rooftop of several houses. It was all pre-planned. The accused later washed the whole roof. It was done in a bid to destroy the evidence,” an India TV report stated citing sources in the Delhi Police crime branch.

Meanwhile, one Suresh, who was pulling the procession chariot when it was attacked by a mob of fanatics, also claimed that Ansar was leading the demonstration and inciting the mob to attack them. He said Ansar pushed him and demanded that the procession be stopped.

Furthermore, following the incident, various videos surfaced online wherein the victims of the Jahangirpuri violence are heard saying that the attack was indeed a pre-planned one. They described how lathis and arms were amassed by the rioters.

In fact, the Delhi Police had also obtained CCTV footage from the Jahangirpuri area, where a Hanuman Jayanti procession was attacked on April 16. Some people could be seen gathering sticks in the clip the day before the incident.

The CCTV video was recorded somewhere around 2 AM on the 15th of April in Jahangirpuri. In the video, 4-5 young men can be seen gathering sticks from the streets in the neighbourhood. There appears to be opposition as well from the locals, which subsequently escalated into a minor skirmish.

Jahangipuri violence mastermind Ansar Sheikh has close links with TMC

Earlier in the day, OpIndia reported how West Bengal BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari had said that Ansar Sheikh is close to the Trinamool Congress party, and is actively involved in the acts of political violence by the TMC goons. Prior to this, both BJP and AAP alleged that Jahangirpuri violence masterminding Ansar Sheikh is a member of the other party.

The BJP leader said on Thursday that Ansar regularly visits Haldia in West Bengal, and alleged that Ansar was involved in the attack on his car after the assembly elections last year.

West Bengal BJP leaders have said that Ansar Sheikh has close links with Sheikh Ajijul Rahman, TMC councillor from Ward No 15 in Haldia municipality. Photographs have also emerged showing them together, one of them showing Ansar placing his hand on Ajijul’s shoulder.

However, TMC has denied any links with Ansar Sheikh. Ajijul Rahman also said that he knows Ansar as a local resident, but denied any political links.

It is notable that Ansar Sheikh owns a luxurious mansion in Haldia, the industrial town in East Midnapore district, and he frequently visits the place as alleged by the state BJP. Reportedly, Delhi Police have already started to probe his Bengal links in the case.

Uttar Pradesh: Bulandshahr man Zakir Ali booked after 3 of his 9 daughters file complaint accusing him of sexual assault

In Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh, a complaint has been registered against a man named Zakir Ali, who has been accused of molestation and torture by his own daughters. One of his daughters appealed to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Twitter, requesting that his father and his friends be punished for sexually exploiting them and threatening to murder them. She also tweeted a video showing the illegal weapon her father uses to threaten them.

Journalist Sachin Gupta tweeted, “45-year-old Zakir Ali has 9 daughters in Bulandshahr district of UP. Today 3 daughters have complained to SSP. It is alleged that the father molests all the daughters, touches their private parts, and forces them to sleep with him. Police started investigation.”

Responding to the tweet, the Bulandshahr Police stated, ‘On the basis of the complaint by the daughters levelling charges against the father, prompt legal action is being assured by registering the case at the police station.’

On Thursday, a young woman from the Siyana area in Bulandshahr tweeted that her father had assaulted her and her sisters. She said that her father abuses her and her siblings after consuming alcohol and that when the sisters object, he beats them and threatens to sell, rape, and murder them.

Following the tweet made by the victim, the district police swung into action. SSP Santosh Kumar Singh met the victim girl, listened to her plight, and directed the police to take action. Following this, the local police station has launched an inquiry. The accused has also been brought into custody for questioning. SSP Santosh Kumar Singh stated that action will be taken following an inquiry in the case. The letter of complaint by the victim has gone viral all over the internet.

Kerala: SDPI workers Muhammad Bilal, Rizwan, Riyassuddin, Sahad arrested for brutal murder of RSS leader in Palakkad

On Friday, the Kerala Police arrested four members of the Islamist organization Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) for murdering an RSS leader in Kerala’s Palakkad district last week. The accused have been identified as Muhammad Bilal, Muhammad Rizwan, Riyassuddin, and Sahad.

SDPI is the political wing of the radical Islamist organisation PFI.

The murder victim SK Sreenivasan was a former Physical Education instructor of the RSS. He was murdered by a group of 6 assailants who arrived on three bikes. They hacked him to death inside his shop in the Melamuri area of Palakkad with sharp weapons. According to eyewitnesses, the attackers were armed with machetes and attacked him several times, inflicting multiple fatal injuries.

BJP state leader Krishnakumar had stated that the radical Islamic organization Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) was behind the attack. SDPI is the political wing of the Islamist organization Popular Front of India (PFI) which is banned in several parts of India. The BJP leader had further said that they had received threat calls after the murder of SDPI activist Subair. The Police also suspected that the death of the RSS worker was a retaliatory attack. Reportedly, the RSS leader was murdered within 24 hours of SDPI worker Subair’s death.

According to the reports, the Kerala Police had initiated a massive manhunt to nab the culprits who had fled after brutally murdering SK Sreenivasan on April 16. The police had also warned that stern action would be taken against those who try to incite communal tension through social media in the backdrop of the Palakkad murders.

Accordingly, the state police chief had issued instructions to monitor social media activity in the state to control the spread of fake news that might have incited communal tensions. However, this is not the first time that SDPI workers have targeted the BJP leaders or RSS leaders.

Earlier in December last year, the SDPI workers had reportedly murdered BJP leader Ranjith Sreenivasan in the Alappuzha district of Kerala. The perpetrators had broken into Sreenivasan’s house in the wee hours on December 19 and hacked him to death. Also, on November 15, a 26-year-old RSS worker A. Sanjith was hacked to death, reportedly by the SDPI goons. Sanjith, a native of Elappully was killed while he was going to work on his motorcycle with his wife.

The Police on Friday arrested four out of six murderers in the recent case and have assured to arrest of the other two members of the group. The Police have charged the culprits under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

SC verdict helps Firoz escape harsher punishment for rape and murder of 4-year-old girl: Read what post-mortem report of his victim said

In a verdict that sparked outrage across the country, the Supreme Court commuted the death sentence of Mohd Firoz who was convicted of rape and murder of a 4-year-old minor girl saying that “every sinner has a future”. The Court also refused to sentence the convict to life imprisonment and instead awarded him 20 years of jail punishment.

Earlier, the Madhya Pradesh HC had convicted Mohd Firoz of raping and murdering a minor girl and awarded him with capital punishment. Challenging the legality of the judgment that was passed by the Madhya Pradesh High Court in Jabalpur in 2014, the apex court cited the Irish poet and playwright Oscar Wilde stating that “the only difference between the saint and the sinner is that every saint has a past and every sinner has a future.”

A bench of Justices U U Lalit, S Ravindra Bhat, and Bela M Trivedi maintained that the basic principle of restorative justice as developed by the court over the years was to allow the offender to repair the damage caused and to become a socially useful individual after his release from the jail. “To allow the offender to repair the damage caused, and to become a socially useful individual when he is released from the jail -The maximum punishment prescribed may not always be the determinative factor for repairing the crippled psyche of the offender”, para 43 of the judgment read.

In its judgement further, the Court stated that the Judge presiding over the criminal trial has not only to see that an innocent man is not punished but also has to see that the guilty man does not escape. “Right to a fair and speedy trial applies as much to the victim as the accused”, the judgement noted.

Para 43 of the judgement (Image source- Screenshot from the original judgement)

The bench reconsidered the ruling of the sessions court and the High court and said that the evidence on record was forming a chain of circumstances and that any other hypothesis except the guilt of the accused could be possible. The Sessions Court in 2014 had framed offences under various sections of the IPC against two accused Rakesh Chaudhary and Mohd Firoz and had directed them to undergo life imprisonment. The Madhya Pradesh High Court however dismissed the appeal of accused Firoz and confirmed the death sentence for him, acquitting Chaudhary in the case.

Upon the death sentence, the SC panel held that it deems proper to commute the sentence of death for the sentence of imprisonment for life under Section 302 of the IPC. The panel asserted that owing to Section 376A of the IPC, the sentence of imprisonment would have been appropriate considering the gravity and seriousness of the offence.

The post-mortem report of the victim

The Supreme Court ruled its decision after it considered the witnesses including the victim’s family, fruit seller, Police, and the Doctors who had identified Firoz. The Doctors had medically examined Firoz and collected his sample proving that he was capable of committing sexual intercourse. The Doctors also examined the victim girl and declared that she was raped. However, they denied confirming the actual cause of death antemortem.

Post mortem findings of the case (Image source- Screenshot from the original judgement)

The post-mortem of the victim was conducted by Dr Pradeep Gangadhar Dixit, Professor and HOD in Forensic Medicine Department, Medical College, Nagpur, on April 30, 2013, along with his colleagues. He had recorded that the victim had injuries on her upper lip, lower lip, neck, and in the area below the neck and above the chest.

What had happened to a 4-year old victim in the year 2013

The case dates back to the year 2013 when the 4-year-old girl was sexually assaulted and murdered by Mohd Firoz. At about 06:30 pm, Rakesh Choudhary visited the house of the victim along with Mohd Firoz and requested her mother to provide accommodation for Firoz for a day. However, her mother refused to provide such accommodation. Thereafter, Rakesh Choudhary left and Firoz sat for a while in the courtyard of the house. He saw a minor girl aged about 4 years playing with her brother and other cousins.

After some time, the mother found that her daughter was missing and even Firoz had left the house. She along with her other family members tried to search for her daughter at the nearby places, however, she was not found. A few hours later a man came with some bananas and told the victim’s mother that Bhaijaan (Firoz) had taken the girl with him. The mother got scared and went to the police station in Ghansaur to lodge a missing report.

On the next morning, some villagers found the minor girl lying unconscious in one of the fields. The girl was identified by the brother of victim’s mother. The victim was lying unconscious and blood was oozing from her mouth and nostrils. He immediately took her first to the Police Station and then to the Government Hospital at Ghansaur. The condition of the victim was deteriorating so she was shifted to the hospital at Jabalpur. The Doctors who examined and treated her confirmed that a rape was committed on the victim.

In their medical report, doctors stated that the victim’s hymen was found ruptured due to sexual intercourse and that a rape was committed against her. Dr Hemant, a private medical practitioner at Jabalpur Hospital, examined the victim and carried out C.T Scan. He had found swelling in her brain. The victim was kept on the ventilator, but her condition was deteriorating and, therefore, she was shifted to Nagpur.
