‘Will promise in manifesto that sugarcane farmers will be paid with interest if payments delayed’: Amit Shah in Saharanpur

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Saturday 29th January 2022 in Saharanpur that if BJP is elected back to power in Uttar Pradesh, the sugarcane farmers will get paid with interest if their payments are delayed. He added that this assurance will be added to the manifesto of the party. Amit Shah was addressing the voters of Saharanpur in a program. He said that he is informed by a few farmers that sugarcane payments are getting delayed. He said, “We have decided that in the manifesto of the BJP, we are going to announce that in case of delay in clearance of payments, the interest for the delay will be recovered from the sugar factory and the payment of sugarcane along with interest will be paid to the farmers.”

Targeting the former governments of SP and BSP, Amit Shah said “There were 42 sugar mills in the state. 21 of them were closed by the SP and BSP. Also, there was no continuous power supply before BJP came to power in 2017. Our government has worked to provide uninterrupted power supply in the cities and a daily 22-hours power supply in the rural areas.”

Akhilesh Yadav had earlier doubted the made-in-India COVID-19 vaccines and later he took the same vaccines. Criticizing this, Amit Shah said “The maximum number of vaccinations took place in Uttar Pradesh. You misguided people about the vaccines that you took later. We are working to provide food to the people. What did you do except send the food grains directly to Nepal via Gorakhpur?”

As the campaign fever is on the rise in western Uttar Pradesh which will undergo the elections in the first phase on 10th February, Amit Shah recalled the riots which were a part of the routine life in western Uttar Pradesh under the SP regime. He said, “Those who were involved in the rights were made victims and the victims were made accused and put behind the bars, just for the sake of appeasement.”

Underlining the differences between the styles of governance of the SP government and that of the BJP government, Amit Shah said “The SP government gave a mini chief minister, a strongman (bahubali), a scam and a riot to each district during its rule. On the contrary, our government gave a product, an industry, and a medical college to each district.”

Kishan Bharwad murder: Pistol, bike recovered near dargah, ATS to conduct probe

The pistol and bike that were used to kill Kishan Bharwad were found in the area near Sir Mubarak Bukhari Dada dargah in Dhandhuka by Gujarat Police. Shabbir and Imtiyaz, the suspects, helped the police reach the location behind the Dargah. Both were riding a motorbike on January 25 with the purpose to kill Kishan Bharwad. Shabbir fired shots at Kishan while Imtiyaz was riding the bike. The weapon and ammunition were reportedly given by Maulvi Ayyub of Ahmedabad’s Jamalpur region. He was also nabbed by the police.

On Thursday, Ahmedabad Police detained two people and found connections between two Maulvis in the January 25 murder of 27-year-old Kishan Bharwad. The murder was carried out under the direction of two Maulvis, one from Ahmedabad and the other from Mumbai.

These men plotted and carried out a plot in retaliation to Kishan’s social media remark, for which he had later apologized on camera. Gujarat Police has also apprehended Wasim Sama and Zubair, the brothers of another accused Azim from Morbi, for interrogation. Maulvi, who resided in Ahmedabad, had got a pistol from Azim. However, as per local media reports, by the time police reached Thoral to arrest Azim, he had escaped. Two of his brothers, who police believes are are also radicalised, are taken into custody and are being investigated.

Kishan was shot dead in Dhandhuka while riding his two-wheeler with his cousin through the Modhwada area. According to reports, Kishan allegedly published a post on a social networking platform that Muslims deem insulting. According to sources, Kishan’s social media video included a picture of Prophet Muhammad. Beheading or killing individuals who post such a picture is usually deemed blasphemy, and Islamists justify killing those who share such an image.

The crime was brought to light after the victim’s cousin, Bhaumik, filed a police report, claiming that the murder was linked to Bharwad’s social media post from 15 days prior.

The Gujarat Anti-terrorism squad will now be taking over the investigation. The ATS will also investigate Pakistan connection in the murder of Bharwad. As per local media reports, two suspicious masjids were also searched by the ATS. The report also suggests that Bharwad’s murder was likely not done on just the maulvi’s instructions, but it could be part of larger conspiracy where sleeper cells of such radicalised group may have played a major role.

It is about time we talk about the 1948 genocide of Maharashtrian Brahmins that followed M K Gandhi’s assassination

The aftermath of violence that spread after Mohandas Gandhi’s assassination is finally making gradual waves to the mainstream national discourse. However, the flames haven’t been distinguished and the pains have been preserved. The silencing of voices that followed one of the first large-scale massacre in Independent India accounts for one of the biggest coverups in modern history. It is need of the hour, that we talk about the crimes against Brahmins of Maharashtra that erupted after MK Gandhi’s assassination in 1948.

1948 Brahmin massacre in Maharashtra

M K Gandhi was assassinated by Nathuram Vinayak Godse on January 30, 1948 in Delhi. The news sent shock waves across the country. Nathuram Godse belonged to an orthodox Chittapavan Brahmin family living in Pune.

Resentment against the Brahmins had already been cultivated by this time, as a response to their hegemonical hundred-year-old rule under the Peshwa family. As soon as the family and caste details of Godse were made public, violence abruptly outpoured in major cities of Maharashtra. Starting with Pune, the wildfire spread across Brahmin localities in Pune with as many as 50 Brahmins identified and killed on 30th January 1948 itself.

The New York times had already reported the news of ‘fifteen persons killed with more than fifty injured’ in communal riots that ‘swept’ the city of Bombay on the next day. The spurge of violence reached quickly to other cities in southern and western Maharashtra, while Nagpur in Vidarbha emerged as a hotbed of violence too.

Persecution of Brahmins after M K Gandhi’s assassination

Advocate P.L.Inamdar as quoted in Vikram Sampath’s Savarkar Vol. II had noted the primary reason behind persecution of Brahmins; which being Nathuram Godse, who killed Gandhi belonged to the Chittapavan Brahmin community in Maharashtra. Writing about the ‘manhunt’ that followed the assassination, Inamdar said, “Some of my close relatives living in southern districts of Maharashtra were being made victims of this manhunt only because they were Maharashtrian Brahmins. They escaped being lynched only by the sheer chance of not being found in their houses at the time of the raids.”

Talking about the violence that erupted in Nagpur, which was part of the Central Provinces then, Dwarka Prasad Mishra, a senior Congress leader himself, wrote unapologetically in his memoirs about the mayhem that followed. He wrote, “Those who indulged in unlawful activities also included a large number of Congressmen belonging to non-brahmin communities. In fact, in Nagpur and Berar the troublemakers were mostly Congressmen, some being even office bearers of various Congress Committees.”

While the media of the time had turned a blind eye to the events that were unfolding, state pressure to disencourage any recording of the events also accounted for the dearth of resources available today. It was only after British Journalist Maureen Patterson who was researching on the aftermath of Gandhi’s death in India, wrote decisively about the violence against Brahmins of Maharashtra in 1948 that people started talking about it.

Patterson has recorded several instances of targeting, riots and disturbances which directed to the cleansing of Brahmins from Maharashtra’s rural interiors. She recorded that magnified violence that also spread in the Deccan cities like Satara, Kolhapur and Belgaum. A conservative estimate of total damage around Rs. 6 to 10 crores by the violent activities was calculated by the scholar based on unofficial numbers and anecdotal publications.

While the violence started with targeting of people surnamed ‘Godse’, the casteist ire quickly spread categorically across all subcastes beyond the Chittapavans (Konkanasthas) to Deshastha and Karhade Brahmin communities in Maharashtra as well. As reported, veteran journalist Gajanan Tryambak Madkholkar lost his home and premises of his newspaper publishing house in Nagpur to the violence. In Kolhapur, renowned film maker of the times, Bhalji Pendharkar – a Karhade Brahmin suffered a huge loss with damage to his studio. Property damages, burning of homes, mills, factories owned by brahmins was rampant in Kolhapur, Sangli and other districts.

Anti-Brahmin resentment in Maharashtra

While analysing aftermath of MK Gandhi’s murder, there appears to be a combination of multiple narratives under play which culminated into the anti-Brahmin violence. At the outset, it was the Gandhian Ahimsa-vaadis themselves who retorted to mass violence as a tool to avenge his murder. As mentioned earlier, Dwarka Prasad Mishra had confessed as a member of Congress himself, about the role of ‘Congressmen’ in leading the violence against the Brahmin community. They were later joined by leaders from the non-Brahmin communities who had a personal axe to grind against the ‘influential’ Brahmins who made their fortunes in the 18th and the 19th centuries.

A community which has historically consolidated not more than 4-5% of Maharashtra’s population, rose to considerable influence and power when the Shrivardhankar Bhat family ruled the Maratha Empire as Peshwas or Prime Ministers. With the rise of the Peshwas, Brahmin community weilded a hegemonical control over many walks of life as mercenaries, money lenders, businessmen and over other service related activities related to the intellect.

Over the time, this outpoured into a resentment against the community which was also fueled by the staunch discriminatory practices against the lower-castes upheld during the times. So much so, when an undecisive battle at Bheema-Koregoan was led by the Mahar battalion in the English army against the Maratha Empire, it was touted as the victory of ‘lower castes’ over the ‘Brahmin’ Peshwas. The archaic resentment against the Brahmins joined by violence perpetrated by the angry Congress led to the apocalyptic mayhem after January 30, 1948.

The modern state of Maharashtra continues to disengage with the stories of pilage of Marathi Brahmins that took place during the reigns of the Bombay state presidency. The Congress leaders which took part in the genocidal violence continue to keep their strongholds in parts of the newly formed state, with their heirs holding ministerial ranks in the state cabinet. The local politics thence continued to propel the narrative of a ‘progressive Maharashtra’ lead by the ideals of ‘Shahu-Phule-Ambedkar’ while suitably leaving no space for leaders from the Brahmin community. The aftermath of the violence also explains the plight of the Brahmins from the villages and their rapid migration into the cities, as many families succumbed to threats during the 1960s. Even today, the Maharashtrian Brahmins as a minority community do not hold much say in the politics of the state dominated by the Marathas and the Kunbis.

The unheard voices which suffered the violence have chosen to stay silent and move on. It all started from a group of Hindu-nationalist men from the Brahmin community, killing Gandhi over his policies regarding the partition. Neither Godse’s ideology nor his caste identity had anything to do with his justification of the murder. Yet, the consequences of this mindless act were suffered by Hindu nationalists and the Brahmins unsparingly.

Moreover, it was ironical that the upholders of the ‘absolute non-violence’ ideology – followers of Gandhi himself, presided over one of the first hate crimes that happened in Independent India. The episode of violence against Brahmins in Maharashtra was the first blot on the legacy of Mohandas Gandhi as an upholder of peace and non-violence. The state headed by the Congress party, is equally complicit in erasing the traces of truth from the mainstream. History, however has a window of opportunity to heal the silenced wounds. Sheer acknowledgment of the brutal violence, lead by hate against the Maharashtrian Brahmins as a genocide would go a long way.

Gujarat: Communal tension prevails in Radhanpur after Hindu woman attacked by a Muslim man in her own home

Communal tension prevailed in Radhanpur town in Patan district, North Gujarat, after a Hindu woman was reportedly attacked by a Muslim youth named Yasin Majikhan Baloch when she was alone at her home. As per a report by web portal DeshGujarat, Yasin arrived at her place and insisted on marrying her. However, when she refused he got angry and threatened to kill her.

A Jagran report says that the duo knew each other since past two years. A report in Divya Bhaskar states that SP Akshayraj Makwana has said that the attack could have been out of one-sided love from the man’s side or could be due to money matters.

Yasin reportedly made the death threat call to her father. In her complaint, the victim has stated that Yasin dragged her by her hair and with an intention to kill her, he hit her head on a wall and a glass showcase. She said that she was injured and blood oozed out from her wounds. However, when she raised her voice and shouted for help, her relatives came and locked Yasin in the house.

Subsequently, Police has arrested Yasin Baloch.

On Saturday, thousands from Thakore, Bharwad and Chaudhary communities protested for justice under various Hindu organisations.

Community leaders had gathered at Adarsh Vidyalay in Radhanpur and presented memorandum to the police over the incident.

Bihar: Thieves kill seven dogs before looting a Kali Mata temple in Kaimur, steal Rs 15,000 cash from donation box

In an incident of a ruthless crime in Bihar’s Kaimur, a few thieves have killed seven dogs near a Kali Mata temple before looting it in the night. The incident took place on 28th January 2022 late in the night when there was no one in the temple. In order to ensure unopposed and uninterrupted theft in the temple, the thieves had poisoned the seven dogs nearby this temple.

The thieves have crossed all limits of cruelty in this incident. After killing the dogs, the thieves broke the gates of the temple quite comfortably. The thieves broke the donation box kept inside the temple and took away cash of around fifteen thousand from the same.

When the priest came to the temple in the morning, he came to know of the theft. After this, it was informed to the GRP police station of Bhubhua road. The police from the GRP and Mohaniya police station went to the spot for investigation. GRP police station in-charge Jayprakash has said “The investigations are on and we will soon be able to reveal more details.”

The Kali Mata mandir is situated in Mohaniya which comes under the GRP police station of railways goods warehouse road. The secretary of the temple trust Dheerendra Pratap Singh has said “The thieves broke the doors of the temple and entered inside. They took away around 15 to 20 thousand cash from the donation box they have broken. They have poisoned and killed seven innocent animals living nearby. These dogs would regularly visit the temple at the time of daily rituals like Aarti. We used to feed the Prasad to them as well. The thieves have killed them. I demand the local authorities and police to come up with early explanations on this matter.”

This cruel act by the thieves has spread a wave of rage in the minds of the local people. There were earlier attempts made to loot the temple as well. But as the priest of the temple regularly feeds so many stray dogs in the surroundings every day, the animals would stay near the temple at night. This would automatically protect this temple from any theft incident. The dogs would make noise as soon as they would see any unsolicited visitor on the temple premises. But the thieves planned to get rid of these dogs and poisoned them through food on Friday late in the night.

Besides fast investigations and early arrests, the enraged local people have also demanded the post mortem of the dogs. Secretary of the temple trust Dheerendra Pratap Singh and Shiv Gupta have registered a complaint in this matter.

AAP leader Sanjay Singh shares clipped video to claim Yogi Adityanath feels pride being leader of only Kshatriyas, netizens expose his lies

AAP leader Sanjay Singh recently shared a clipped video from his Twitter account to claim that Uttar Pradesh’s CM Yogi Adityanath feels pride in being the leader of only Kshatriyas. However, this effort by Sanjay Singh was destroyed in hours as the complete footage of the corresponding video was shared by netizens. Sanjay Singh, whose agenda and selective video sharing is thus exposed, is being criticized by netizens and supporters of Yogi Adityanath and the BJP.

Yogi Adityanath had recently given an interview to Sunita Aron who is the senior resident editor of the Hindustan Times. In this interview, Yogi Adityanath was asked whether he is pained whenever somebody identifies him as the leader of Rajputs (Kshatriyas) only. In fact, Yogi Adityanath has answered this question in detail but as he had started his sentence with a ‘no’, Sanjay Singh of the Aam Aadmi Party clipped the video at the very moment Yogi Adityanath said ‘no’ and shared it on Twitter.

With this clipped video, he wrote in his post, “See this. Yogi Adityanathji has cleared it that whenever somebody calls him a leader of Kshatriyas exclusively, he is not pained at all. Adityanathji, you must be the leader for 24 crore people. Is your ‘Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas’ call limited only up to the talks?”

In response to this claim of Sanjay Singh, ‘Only Facts India’ came up with a fact-check video that has complete footage of the answer given by Yogi Adityanath and shared it on its Twitter handle. In this video, Yogi Adityanath has explained in detail how does he look at the people calling him the leader of Rajputs exclusively.

In this video, Yogi Adityanath had said, “No. I am not pained at all when I hear any such thing. Is it a crime to be born in a Kshatriya caste? This is a caste in our country in which Gods have incarnated so many times. Everyone must be proud of his own caste. But when it comes to governance in the state, our government has served equally for all the people irrespective of their castes and religions. We did not differentiate and discriminate on any basis while serving the people.”

Yogi Adityanath further added “I believe that only those people make statements about castes who work for their own families exactly at the time when they are supposed to work for everyone. These people haven’t even worked for their own caste, leave aside the attempts of working for all.”

Explaining how the schemes of his government are meant for the poor and needy people, Yogi Adityanath said “I think if we have made 43 lakh houses for the poor, there will not be even one percent of Kshatriyas in that. Not even one thousand. These 43 lakh houses are given to someone who is either poor or backward or oppressed or from the minority community. We built 2 crores and 61 lakh toilets in the state. They are built for someone who is poor, backward, or oppressed. 15 crore people are getting free ration and the government does not discriminate on the basis of caste and religion while distributing it.”

Yogi Adityanath added “Services and facilities are not provided citing the specific identity but they are for all the people of the state. This is why we say that we work with the motto of ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas’. I think that this is the thing we should bring ahead with us in the future as well.”

Meanwhile, netizens have expressed outrage over this selective portrayal of the state CM by Sanjay Singh. Few other critics have also shared the same clipped video to peddle their own agenda and they are given a befitting reply by other Twitter users. Vijay Patel has tweeted “A few people are trying to defame Yogi Adityanathji by sharing a cut video. They are doing so only because he is a Hindu saint. This is an insult to the Hindus and Uttar Pradesh’s people will definitely give an answer to this.”

Another Twitter user has posted that “Master of blacking tickets and clipping videos Sanjay Singh does it again. Full video for context”

Uttar Pradesh: Tension in Baghpat after Feroze critically injures his friend Sandeep by slitting his throat

0

Tension gripped Faizpur Ninana village in Baghpat after a Hindu boy was brutally attacked by a Muslim youth from the village, seriously injuring him. Sandeep Dudhiya, a Dalit youth from the village, is battling for his life after one Muhammad Feroze slit his throat with a sharp knife.

According to reports, Sandeep Dudhiya, the son of Ombeer Dudhiya, had gone to the fields to fetch grass on Saturday, but after some time he returned to the village covered in blood. Blood was oozing out of his neck when he ran towards the village, after which he was immediately rushed to the district hospital by his family. But given the seriousness of his injury, he was referred to a better medical facility after giving him primary aid.

In the meanwhile, the family members of the victim have lodged a complaint with the police, accusing Muhammad Feroze of the crime. However, immediately after attacking Sandeep, Feroze fled the village. While police had reached his place to nab him, he had already disappeared.

A video has emerged on social media, which shows Sandeep reaching the village after he was attacked in the fields. His entire body was covered in his blood, and a cloth was placed at his neck to prevent further blood loss. In the video, the victim seemed to be unconscious.

Replying to such a tweet, Baghpat Police said that according to the complaint, Sandeep was attacked with a knife by one Feroze. They informed that Sandeep was rushed to the hospital immediately, and he is out of danger now as per the doctors. The police said that the complaint has been registered and the appropriate action is being taken.

However, as per social media users, Sandeep’s condition is still serious and he has been referred to Delhi for further treatment.

Baghpur Police inspector Tapeshwar Sagar told OpIndia that both Feroze and Sandeep are friends, and both had gone to the field together. But some arguments and fights must have taken place between the two, and in that fight, Feroze attacked Sandeep with a knife. The police officer said that a case under section 307 of the IPC has been lodged in the case, and assured that the accused will be nabbed soon.

He further informed at present the situation in the village under control.

Kishan Bharwad murder: Social media user exposes online “syndicate” of Islamists that targeted people for demanding justice for the slain Hindu man

0

Earlier this week, a horrifying tragedy befell a 27-year-old Hindu man, Kishan Bharwad, when Islamists murdered him over a social media post that they believed was against Islam. In the wake of his murder, a social media user has narrated his ordeal of braving online attacks from Islamists for raising his voice for Kishan and demanding justice for him.

In an elaborate Twitter thread, a user who goes by the handle @lincolnsokhadia revealed how Islamists on social media platforms prowl for accounts that speak in favour of Hindus and gang up on them if the person refuses to mend their way. The user asserted that a “syndicate” of Islamists is active online that barges into the DMs of assertive Hindus and employs every trick, starting from deceit, gaslighting and ultimately threatening Hindus against taking a stand for their religion.

Like thousands on social media, @lincolnsokhadia also vigorously demanded justice for Kishan Bharwad after he was killed by Islamists over a post that Muslims found offensive. However, shortly after he posted tweets to protest against Kishan’s murder, he was accosted by a person on Instagram who goes by the handle @farid_miya_47. This Instagram user tried to reason with @lincolnsokhadia over his support for Kishan Bharwad and added him to a group with over 30 Islamists, many of whom were discussing ways to teach supporters of Kishan a lesson. The group’s name was “AK47” and the profile photo was provocative.

After being added to the group, the participants of the group targeted Lincoln, made several obscene comments against him and issued death threats against him. However, the user took screenshots of the messages and shared a long thread on Twitter explaining how Islamists are targeting Hindus who are standing up for their fellow co-religionist and demanding justice for Kishan Bharwad.

Detailing the method adopted by online Islamists, the user said when Hindus on social media extend their support to Kishan Bharwad, some Islamists would intrude into the Direct Message of such Hindus, trying to persuade them to relinquish their support for him. Instead of condemning the killing, the Islamists would try to guilt-trip Hindus by questioning their support for Kishan and accusing them of whipping up hatred against Muslims. They would try to manipulate Hindus into believing that the fault was of Kishan to have spoken against their religion.

The user then claims that if a Hindu falls into this trap and concurs with the Islamist’s worldview, declaring himself secular and affirming his brotherhood with them, the Islamists will have succeeded in the task of emasculating one Hindu man. This would, the user argues, make the work of the Islamist easy, who would then proceed to find another prey he can target with his manipulative ramblings.

But if Hindus don’t fall for the manipulation attempts made by the Islamists and instead provide logical counters to them, they then try to provoke Hindus into making controversial statements, which can be used against them, the user said.

In a subsequent tweet, the Twitter user shared screenshots from an Instagram group and alleged that those who remain stubborn in their beliefs and refuse to give in have their profiles shared in a “syndicate” of Islamists, who then launch a coordinated attack against such persons.

“They will share your profile in the syndicate, send it to different groups and unleash a barrage of attacks against you. They will try to find you and your family members’ details that are available online and launch a coordinated attack against you,” the user said.

Shortly afterwards, Hindus who had run afoul with them and voiced their support for Kishan would start receiving calls, messages laced with abuses and threats, and plans of dastardly attacks made against them, the user surmised. He also shared pictures from the Instagram chat group he was added to, to provide an example of how Islamists planned systematic online attacks against Hindus who refused to toe their line.

The user, who claimed he was one of the victims of the well-coordinated attack by Islamists, said Hindu gods, Goddesses and Hinduism are routinely abused on online forums run by Islamists. In addition to this, the participants of such forums also discuss and deliberate on ways and means to attack Hindus whose thoughts and beliefs do not harmonise with theirs.

Sharing abusive messages made against Hindu Gods and Goddesses, the user said this was but one forum where he had encountered Islamists who were raring to attack Hindus. He conjectured that there might be several other online forums and social media groups where Islamists would be freely strategising ways to target those who dare to extend their support to Hindu victims and demand bringing culprits of hate crimes against Hindus to book.

Towards the end, the user tagged MoS-Home Harsh Sanghvi and the official Twitter handle of Gujarat, stating that if anything happens to him, they could refer to the screenshots attached in the tweet above to identify the culprits.

Kishan Bharwad murder: Hindu man murdered over an SM post that Muslims found offensive, 2 maulvis arrested

The thread assumes profound significance, especially in the wake of the gruesome murder of Kishan Bharwad, who was shot dead in broad daylight by two bike-borne men over a social media post that Muslims found offensive. According to sources, the video shared by Kishan on social media had an image of the Prophet Muhammad. Usually, those who share such posts meet violent ends as Islamists go on a rampage against them, trying to teach those who “blaspheme” a lesson.

As per reports, the police had taken action against Kishan over the post as some people were outraged over it. Following the police intervention, both sides had reconciled, however, Kishan Bharwad was killed a few days after the incident.
