Puja Bharti murder case from Ranchi: Facebook account of victim deleted, BJP questions police inaction

0

Days after the body of a 22-year-old medical student named Puja Bharti Purve was recovered from Patratu Dam near Ranchi, the police have revealed that they have written to Facebook to retrieve her deleted account, reported Jagran. She was a resident of Godda and a student at the Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College in Hazaribagh.

As per reports, the Facebook account of the victim was found to be deleted. In order to widen the scope of the investigation and gather information related to the case, the police officials have written to Facebook to share the data of her account with the investigative team. It must be mentioned that no official statement has been made so far in this regard.

Amidst social media outrage, the police have intensified their probe in the case. The cops interrogated the students who stay at the medical college hostel. The investigative team is gathering information about the victim from her hostel mates. Ever since the gruesome murder, an atmosphere of fear and anxiety has gripped the hostel campus.

BJP slams DGP, demands arrest of culprits

While questioning the failure of the Jharkhand police to make any arrests in the case, the BJP has warned that it will hit the streets to protest in case the culprits are not arrested soon. “The fear of the law has ended among criminals,” the party said. The BJP also took potshots at the DGP and urged him to stop acting as the ‘government mouthpiece’ and instead focus on maintaining law and order in the State of Jharkhand.

Autopsy report reveals that Puja Bharti died of drowning

The autopsy, conducted under the supervision of a three-member medical board, has confirmed that Puja died due to drowning. During the post-mortem, the doctors did not find injury marks on her body or private parts. The police have sent the victim’s undergarments, vaginal swab, nail clippers, ropes and other items to the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFL) to probe the angle of rape, as per a report in Jagran.

As per the CCTV footages and police investigation so far, Puja left her home in a normal condition and did not return even after 6 pm on Tuesday, when the main gate is closed. She had boarded an AC bus from Hazaribagh and arrived in Ranchi, although the bus driver failed to identify the exact location where he dropped her. The victim’s body was recovered from the dam, with her hands and legs tied up.

Reportedly, the victim had a second phone, which has been missing ever since the incident. The investigating team is of the view that the phone would help solve the mystery in the case. As such, the cops are scanning the ‘call drop’ records in the area, where Puja was found dead. The case is being investigated by 17 teams from 3 districts, namely, Hazaribagh, Ranchi and Ramgarh. The Patratu police station has lodged a case of murder against unidentified people.

The Nidhi Razdan Harvard fiasco: A user had sounded off the alarms as early as September 2020

0

Nidhi Razdan revealed on Friday that she fell victim to a phishing scam and confirmed that she was never offered the job of an Associate Professor of Journalism by Harvard University. She said that she has filed a police complaint over the matter and informed the authority at Harvard as well.

As it turns out, a person on social media had sounded off the alarm as early as the 5th of September, 2020 that the course she Nidhi Razdan was supposed to teach does not on the course list of the Harvard University. Furthermore, her name does not appear among the faculty either.

The user had said, “Is it because website is not updated or is she teaching in the spring term or change of mind by Harvard?”

That should have sounded the alarm bells for Nidhi Razdan, and ideally, she should have confirmed it herself but some reason, she did not and eventually, had to pay the price for it. The circumstances of the whole event are still unclear and it appears unlikely that the ex-NDTV ‘journalist’ will provide more information regarding the matter any time soon. But it certainly appears to be an embarrassment that could have been avoided.

Meanwhile, social media has erupted with laughter and humour and memes over the whole matter. Nidhi Razdan has said that she will not be discussing the matter further on social media.

Madhya Pradesh High Court adjourns bail application of ‘comedian’ Munawar Faruqui: Details

0

‘Comedian’ Munawar Faruqui, who has been in judicial custody for the last two weeks for mocking Hindu God and Goddess, will have to continue to remain in jail as the Madhya Pradesh High Court today adjourned his bail hearing until next week.

Indian Express journalist Iram Siddique took to Twitter to inform that the bail hearing at High Court in Indore was adjourned as police failed to produce his case diary. Faruqui’s advocate, Anshuman Shrivastav alleged that it appears to be a tactic by police to harass his client.

Advocate Anushman Shrivastav further agrued before the court that the police should be ordered to get the diary and matter be heard in the second half. However, the court scheduled the hearing for next week.

‘Comedian’ Munawar Faruqui had moved the Madhya Pradesh High Court seeking bail after the magistrate’s court as well as the sessions court had rejected his bail plea on January 5 (Tuesday) and 2 (Saturday) respectively.

His bail pleas were not only rejected but, Chief judicial magistrate Aman Singh Bhuria also extended Faruqui’s judicial custody till January 27.

Hindu activists handed over Munawar Faruqui to the police

Eklavya Singh Gaur, an activist and the chief of Hindu Rakshak Sangathan, had filed the complaint after watching the show. They had filed the complaint after they heard the “indecent” comments, leading them to force the organisers to stop the program.

The Hindu activist Gaur had also submitted video footage of the show. Gaur had said he and his friends went to watch the show where Faruqui was performing as the main comedian.

“The show mocked Hindu deities by passing indecent comments. The Godhra incident and Union Home Minister Amit Shah were also mentioned inappropriately. We shot a video and stopped the show by taking the audience out of the cafe. Then we caught the comedians and organizers of the show and took them to Tukoganj police station,” the Hindu activist said.

Gaur also said that no physical distancing was maintained at the venue and the show had no permission from authorities. At least 100 viewers were sitting in the small hall of the cafe, he said. Gaur denied media reports that Faruqui was beaten up by the activists of Hind Rakshak.

Faruqui on 2002 Godhra Carnage, Amit Shah and Hindu Gods

Munawar Faruqui, during a show in April last year, had ridiculed the 2002 Godhra carnage where 58 Hindus returning from Ayodhya were burnt alive by a Muslim mob. In a show, Faruqui had referred to the carnage as a fictional film ‘directed’ by Amit Shah and ‘produced’ by RSS.

A complaint was also filed against Faruqui after he had used Bollywood songs to make crass, disrespectful remarks on Hindu gods and belief system. He also pointed out how he mocked the brutal massacre of Hindus in the Godhra carnage by claiming, “Marney ke baad jaltay hai na? (Hindus get burnt anyway after death).”

Nidhi Razdan was scammed into believing she got an offer from the real Harvard University to become a professor of journalism: Details

Nidhi Razdan, formerly with NDTV, has revealed that she was the victim of a phishing attack and the Harvard University never offered her a position as an associate professor in journalism. In a terse statement on Twitter, she said, “I have been the victim of a very serious phishing attack. I’m putting this statement out to set the record straight about what I’ve been through. I will not be addressing this issue any further on social media.”

Nidhi Razdan said, “I had been given to believe that I would be joining the University in September 2020. While I was making preparations to take up my new assignment, I was later told that due to the ongoing pandemic, my classes would commence in January 2021. Along with these delays, I began noticing a number of administrative anomalies in the process being described to me.”

The statement by Nidhi Razdan

“At first, I had dismissed these anomalies as being reflective of the new normal being dictated by the pandemic, but recently the representations being made to me were of an even more disquieting nature. As a result, I reached out to senior authorities at Harvard University for clarity. Upon their request, I shared some of the correspondence that I believed I had received from the University,” the statement added.

However, she realized that she had been conned after receiving replies from the Harvard University. She said, “I did not, in fact, receive an offer by Harvard University to join their faculty as an Associate Professor of Journalism. The perpetrators of this attack used clever forgeries and misrepresentations to obtain access to my personal data and communications and may have also gained access to my devices and my email/social media accounts.”

Second part of the statement by Nidhi Razdan

Nidhi Razdan said that she has informed the police and authorities at Harvard University of the matter. A police complaint has been filed, however, it is unclear whether she suffered financial losses due to the scam. But it does appear that she left her job at NDTV because of the ‘job offer’. However, that is not yet confirmed. She said, “I hope that the police are able to get to the bottom of this attack on me at the earliest and help me bring this unsavoury incident to a swift end.”

Punjab: Amidst farmer protests, Centre makes an all-time high purchase of rice and cotton at MSP

While the protestors from Punjab have been preparing for their ‘tractor parade‘ on Republic Day against the historic farm laws, the Union government has made a record high purchase of rice and cotton from Punjab at the Minimum Support Price (MSP), reported Indian Express.

As per reports, the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI), which is governed by the Union Ministry of Textiles, has purchased 85% of kapas (raw cotton) marketed for the month of December in Punjab. An estimated 27.5 lakh quintals of cotton out of 32.50 lakh quintal, marked till December end, was procured by the CCI at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). It must be mentioned that 52.50 lakh quintals of kapas were produced in the State in 2020.

As per the Indian Express report, Rajvir Singh Golta, a cotton farmer informed that he sold 52 quintals of medium-long staple kapas (26.5-27 mm fibre length) to the CCI and received the full MSP of ₹5,665 per quintal for his fibre crop between early October and mid-December. Expressing his happiness over the government’s decision, Golta said that the timely sale at MSP has helped him immensely since the market price was around ₹4600- ₹4800 per quintal at that time.

Impact of purchasing cotton timely at MSP

Golta emphasised, “Prices going above the MSP will only benefit farmers with larger holdings. But I don’t mind that. For me, what matters is getting an assured price at the time of bringing my crop to the mandi immediately after harvesting.” He further added, “MSP is necessary for farmers who have no capacity to hold on to their crop and wait for prices to go up. We need money to run our kitchen and sow the next crop.”

However, as per the Indian Express report, Golta and another farmer named Tiwana who has sold 21 quintals of cotton, were both a part of the farmer protests. They said that they protested to ensure that the government purchases at MSP and last were the CCI had entered late, only after private firms had purchased cotton below MSP.

The timely purchase by the government entity led to a rise in the market price of cotton above the Minimum Support Price. This has helped small farmers as they are now able to sell their produce to private traders and ginners at ₹5800 per quintal, in comparison to the official MSP of ₹5,665. At the same time, long-staple varieties of Kapas (27.5-28.5 mm) is now being sold at ₹5900-5950 as against the MSP of ₹5725 per quintal.

While speaking about the development, an official from the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) noted, “We have made record purchases this season. In fact, we have stopped buying in the past 10-12 days. There’s no need when prices are ruling above MSP. Small and marginal farmers have anyway sold their crop to us.” Nonetheless, the government agencies also purchased 202.78 lakh tonnes of paddy from the State of Punjab at an MSP of ₹1,998 per quintal.

Protestors plan on disrupting Republic Day Celebrations

Just weeks ahead of the Republic day celebration in the country, Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait on Thursday said that protestors will carry out another procession from Red Fort to India Gate on January 26 and also hoist the tricolour at Amar Jawan Jyoti. According to the reports, the self-proclaimed ‘farmer’ leader Rakesh Tikait claimed that the march will be a ‘historic scene’ where from one side they will have ‘kisan’ and the other side ‘jawan’.

Interestingly, Tikait’s announcement comes two days after Khalistani terror organisation Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) had announced a reward of Rs. 1.8 crores for hoisting the Khalistani flag on India Gate on the Republic Day. In a letter issued by SFJ, Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu gave a call to the Punjab farmers protesting on Singh border to raise Khalistani flag at India Gate on January 26 and receive a reward of Rs. 1.8 crores.

Pakistan aircraft PIA Boeing 777 seized by authorities, passengers stranded: Read why Malaysia acted against PIA

In a major embarrassment to Pakistan, the Malaysian authorities on Friday seized a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Boeing-777 at the Kuala Lumpur Airport.

According to reports, the PIA aircraft was seized on the orders of a local Malaysian court over the non-payment of aircraft lease dues.

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) had leased two aircraft, including the Boeing-777, from a Vietnamese company in 2015. However, they had failed to pay the dues to the Vietnamese company.

Following the seizure of its aircraft, PIA, in a statement posted on Twitter said, “A PIA aircraft has been held back by a local court in Malaysia taking a one-sided decision pertaining to a legal dispute between PIA and another party pending in a UK court.

“The passengers are being looked after and alternate arrangements for their travel have been finalised,” the statement said.

Reportedly, the authorities seized the plane after passengers had already boarded the aircraft. The aircraft’s 18-member staff also become stranded in Kuala Lumpur due to the seizure and will now quarantine for 14 days as per protocols.

Payment dispute between two sides led to seizure: PIA

Meanwhile, the national flag carrier said that the PIA aircraft has been held back on the orders of a local court in Malaysia which, it argued, has taken a one-sided decision pertaining to a legal dispute between PIA and another party pending in a UK court.

“It is an unacceptable situation and PIA has engaged the support from Government of Pakistan to take up this matter using diplomatic channels,” the Pakistan International Airlines expressed its anger on Twitter.

Commenting on the legal dispute, the airline’s spokesperson said that it was a “payment dispute between us and the party Perigreen” that had been filed in the UK courts about six months ago.

The spokesperson did not provide further details on the dispute, adding that the Malaysian court took an “ex-parte decision causing inconvenience to the passengers who had already boarded the plane”.

Pakistan Airlines pilots fly with dubious license

Earlier, Pakistan’s aviation industry was hit by a scandal after it was found out that Pakistani pilots were found to hold “dubious’ licences, prompting a number of countries to ban PIA from operating flights in their jurisdictions. The airline was banned from flying to the US and European Union for six months over safety compliance concerns under a ban still in place.

In fact, Pakistan’s Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan made a shocking revelation that more than 30 percent of civilian pilots in Pakistan carried fake licences and were not qualified for flying.

Justin Trudeau helped China to cover-up origin of Coronavirus at inception of the outbreak: Claims Canadian portal quoting military document

0

In what can be aptly termed as a startling revelation, if true, a Canadian media website called Rebel News has accused Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of helping China to hide the origins of the deadly Wuhan Coronavirus that put the whole world to a halt last year. In their exclusive report, the Rebel News has alleged that the Canadian Prime Minister had come to know of Covid-19 much earlier when some members of the Canadian Armed Forces were allegedly exposed to the Chinese virus during the 7th Military World Games (MWG) held in Wuhan city of Hubei Province of China in October 2019.

The media portal claims to have accessed some secret military documents distributed from the highest ranks of the Canadian Armed Forces in order to cover a “scandal of global proportions”. The document reportedly titled ‘Potential Exposure to 2019 Novel Coronavirus during 7th Military World Games in October 2019 in Wuhan, Hubei Province China’ was penned by Canada’s Surgeon General, Major General AMT Downes, who later resigned. The letter allegedly “gaslighted” the Canadian soldiers who were in Wuhan for the MWG.

Canadian government refused to test its soldiers who returned from Wuhan with severe symptoms of pneumonia

The media portal also claimed to have interviewed a senior Canadian Armed Forces soldier whose voice they replaced with a voice actor in order to conceal his identity. The anonymous soldier said that towards the end of the MWG a bunch of athletes got very sick with symptoms like coughing, vomiting, diarrhoea and lung issues. The soldier further said that when the contingent was returning to Canada on a Polaris jet, around one-third of the members were quarantined in the back of the plane. The senior ranks of the armed forces allegedly decided to end their quarantine and sent them to their homes across the country.

Citing sources Rebel News claimed that there was a pneumonia outbreak in a contingent of 170 Canadian soldiers stationed in Wuhan for the MWG over two months before China reported Covid-19 outbreak in the city. However, this happened only a few weeks before the first official case of Covid-19 was identified on November 17, 2019. The portal alleged that the Canadian government tried to cover up the virus by refusing to test the soldiers who returned from Wuhan as alleged by the anonymous soldier of the Canadian Armed Forces.

Canadian government claimed it was not aware of any Covid-19 cases in CISM MWG participants

The letter referred to above was reportedly sent out on January 22, 2019, after the Canadian government presumably realised that the virus was going to go global. The Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Theresa Tam, allegedly told people in Canada to calm down and not to be racist to the Chinese. The letter read, “We are not aware of any 2019 NCOV cases among CISM MWG participants. We are confident that the number of suspected 2019 NCOV cases as well as the number of countries reporting suspected cases will increase in the next 30 days. The increase in case count will continue to generate significant media attention and public concern particularly as travel peaks during the first week of February due to Chinese New Year”.

The report claimed the reason the government and the military were not aware of Covid-19 cases among the MWG participants was that they rejected the demand of the soldiers to be tested for Covid-19 despite some of the members of the contingent showing severe symptoms of pneumonia. The report speculated that the first confirmed case of Covid-19 in China could have caught the infection 14 days before testing positive. This meant that the confirmed case could have been infected five days after the final departure of athletes from Wuhan.

BLM activist, Antifa, anarchist or FBI asset? What we know so far about John Sullivan, who was spotted instigating mobs at Capitol Hill

The entire world was shocked by the scenes at Washington DC as scores of Trump supporters stormed Capitol Hill while the US Congress was certifying Joe Biden’s presidential victory. Since then, matters have only escalated with Big Tech deplatforming US President Donald Trump and pushing free speech alternative Parler offline. Now, another intriguing character has come to the fore. He is John Sullivan who uses aliases such as “Activist X,” “Activist John,” and “Jayden X.”

There is a lot of intrigue about him as no one appears to be sure who he is exactly. Those on the right-wing believe he is associated with the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement and the Antifa, which are known to riot and engage in unlawful activities. As per journalist Max Blumenthal, however, BLM and Antifa activists have strictly disassociated themselves from John Sullivan and considers him to be an extremely problematic individual.

John Sullivan shot to the limelight after he appeared on CNN for a chat with anchor Anderson Cooper regarding the video he had captured of Ashli Babbitt being shot by a law enforcement officer. Babbitt was a pro-Trump veteran who was shot during the protests at Capitol hill. On CNN, he presented himself as a ‘heroic journalist’ who captured the shooting on camera. Anderson Cooper also called him a left-wing activist.

There is also videos of him participating in the riots, celebrating it and instigating the mob. John Sullivan says, “Let’s go! This sh*t’s ours. F*ck yeah… We accomplished this sh*t. We did this sh*t together!.. We’re all part of this history.”

In another video, he can be seen telling Jade sacker, who accompanied him on CNN, “We did it.” He tells her, “Is this not gonna be the best film you’ve ever made in your life?” Sacker apparently has a documentary project up her sleeve.

Max Blumenthal is an editor at The Grayzone, an independent left-wing media outlet. He has published a detailed report on John Sullivan where he has documented the perception of him among BLM activists and Antifa. According to the journalist, John Sullivan is best known among the left-wing crowd “for his propensity for inspiring chaos, engaging in counterproductive tactics that often trigger arrests, and consistently undermining BLM objectives.”

“If there’s violence to instigate, he will raise it to another level. But he’s not the one that does it. And that’s a dangerous type of person. That’s one of the most dangerous types of people to me,” one BLM activist is quoted as saying.

On the 23rd of November 2020, Antifa in Portland is said to have issued an ‘anonymous tip’ demanding that John Sullivan be “locked out” of their circles. “While it’s easier, and generally more fair, to believe he is a naive narcissist, clout chaser and inept organizer, it might not be an accurate analysis. A narc for the feds might not be an accurate assessment either. It’s more likely that John is an agent provocateur, putting activist communities in danger.”

Sean Michael Love, a BLM activist, said of Sullivan, “He always gets released and usually much quicker than everybody else. And that’s just, you know, when you see that pattern, you wonder if there’s something else going on.”

What James Sullivan thinks of his brother

James Sullivan, the brother of John Sullivan, does not appear to be too fond of his brother and holds him responsible for the Capitol Hill riots. “I know that John [Sullivan] was one of the people that led [the riot], and helped organize it,” James told Blumenthal.

“And, again, what I said is that Antifa goes off of basic psychological warfare, and they’re seeing that the Trump supporters are very, very emotional – kind of on a knife’s edge… [Antifa is] organized. You know, they’re a well oiled machine. So like, they planned this, to change the public opinion against Trump supporters, and to create anarchy in the country.”

According to James, John Sullivan has mental health issues as well. “What we [his family] have found out is that he is addicted to Adderall. He does not need to take it because he doesn’t have ADHD. And what happens is that he becomes a little bit paranoid. It’s very easy for him to to act cool, calm, and collected, but he flips on a dime.”

According to James, John Sullivan radicalized by the death of George Floyd. Prior to that, John was on the Republican side of things as well. James said that John had defamed his family, called their father a White supremacist and accused James of being a wife-beater and abusing his children. James was referring to their adoptive father, retired Air Force Maj. Gen. Kevin J. Sullivan. He is White.

James, who is a member of a right-wing organization, confirms that BLM activists were trying to get John out of their circles. James says that he had received calls from them asking for his help in the matter. “They reached out to me, and they said, ‘Hey, this is what John’s doing. We’re trying to get this stuff done and he’s getting people hurt and arrested. You know, and they don’t need to be arrested. These are good people that are going to prison because John would incite violence.’”

James recounted further, “John coming back to disrupt that is something that even [elected] representatives have come out against. And the Democrats do not want him here. Like, we have a unique political climate here in Utah. There’s no real chance of violence or anything like that here – unless John comes back and starts igniting his group.”

‘John Sullivan knew people were considering storming the Capitol’

According to Jade Sacker, who had appeared on CNN with John Sullivan, he knew that people were going to storm the Capitol. She told Blumenthal, “John knew somehow that people were considering storming the Capitol. He had had intelligence days before, and I didn’t believe him. I never thought that something like that would happen. And then when we showed up at the Capitol, there were thousands and thousands of people there. I didn’t think that we would be able to document what was going on. So when I said we did it, I was just shocked that we like got in there at all, and that we were on the front lines of being able to tell the story.”

Sacker also conceded that his ultimate agenda is inciting as much chaos as possible. “He’s just angry. And he says it in a lot of his videos – ‘Fuck the system, burn it down.’ He doesn’t think it can be reformed. Like he kind of wants his civil war. He’s a bit of a provocateur and he wants to dismantle the system, and he believes in the value of civil disobedience. And because he is apolitical, I think he feels more a sense of allegiance to anyone who shares that the values of, I guess, chaos.”

John Sullivan: An FBI asset?

Blumenthal also says that there are ‘conspiracy theories’ floating around that John Sullivan is actually a law enforcement asset. BLM activists certainly appear to believe so. Love said, “I definitely think that mentally, he has some things he has to work out. But as far as him cooperating with the law enforcement, that has been our belief.”

Sacker also told Blumenthal that right-wing circles believe that he is working with the FBI. John, however, denied the allegations. He also maintains that he is  “more on the BLM (Black Lives Matter) side, ending the police brutality, the racial discrimination” but could not offer a coherent ideology according to Blumenthal.

The dominant narrative among the right-wing, however, is that John Sullivan is a left-wing activist. Fox News reported that the ‘left-wing activist’ was charged in Washington and remains in custody in Toeele County, Utah.

John, however, maintains that it was an act to build rapport with the protesters. “I had to relate to these people, and build trust in the short amount of time I had there to get where I need to go,” he told Rolling Stone. “To the front of the crowd to see the dynamic between the police and the protesters, because nobody wants to see the backs of people’s heads from a far-off distance.”

Meanwhile, Jack Posobiec of OAN reports that Donald Trump is being briefed that John Sullivan did not act alone.

Movie critic Rajeev Masand, who wrote vile ‘blinds’ against Sushant Singh Rajput, joins Karan Johar’s new venture as COO

Twitter is awash with the news that film critic Rajeev Masand, who had tried to tarnish Sushant Singh Rajput’s reputation by writing vicious blind items against the actor, has quit film ‘journalism’ and stepped in as the COO of Dharma Cornerstone Agency, new talent management venture started by filmmaker Karan Johar’s Dharma Production in collaboration with Bunty Sajdeh’s Cornerstone. Journalist Soumyadipta took to Twitter to share the news.

Media reports have quoted a source as saying: “Journalist Rajeev Masand is all set to join DCA next week. He’ll be working as the COO of the company. Karan and other top authorities at Dharma believe that he’ll be the right person for the job and help them in scouting fresh talent and managing them.”

Press release By Karan Johar’s company announcing the appointment of Rajeev Masand as COO

On December 15, 2020, Karan Johar had announced the launch of his new venture with Bunty Sajdeh’s Cornerstone Sport and Management.

Disha Salian worked as a manager in Cornerstone, the company which Karan Johar has now tied up with

For the uninitiated, Cornerstone is the same firm where late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s manager Disha Salian worked as a manager before her mysterious death. Both Disha Salian and Sushant Singh Rajput met with mysterious deaths within a fortnight in June 2020. She was working with Cornerstone, through which she came into contact with Sushant.

In fact, in September last year, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had summoned Cornerstone CEO Bunty Sajdeh to probe any potential link between the Sushant Singh Rajput case and Disha Salian’s death. Sushant Singh Rajput’s flatmate Siddharth Pithani’s in his first statement to the CBI had disclosed the name of Bunty Sajdeh.

Mumbai police summons film critic Rajeev Masand, now with Karan Johar, for questioning after the death of Sushant Singh Rajput

A month after actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, Mumbai police had summoned film critic Rajeev Masand for questioning. Following summons, issued to him, Rajeev Masand had appeared at the Bandra Police station for questioning.

It may be recalled that film actor Kangana Ranaut, in an interview with a news channel, while speaking of the “movie mafia” behind the systematic discrimination in the movie industry, named Rajeev Masand as one of the people who should be questioned concerning the investigation on Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.

Rajeev Masand, who has now joined Karan Johar, tried to defame Sushant by his ‘vicious and cowardly blind items’

After Sushant Singh Rajput’s untimely death, more and more people from the film fraternity started coming forward to express their fury against Bollywood ‘biggies’ like Mahesh Bhatt, Karan Johar, Yashraj Films and several other prominent individuals of the Bollywood industry, alleging that the culture fostered by them had pushed the young actor to take away his life.

Such reprehension on Bollywood’s ‘powerful and influentials’ got many movie critics and gossip columnists to pen down baseless gossips, allegations and accusations on the actor. One of them being movie critic Rajeev Masand, who tried to defame Sushant by his ‘vicious and cowardly blind items’ written against him. Through his vile attempts, spread across years, Masand has tried to character assassinate the talented actor by attributing terms like ‘skirt-chaser’, ‘overpaid outsider’, an actor with ‘questionable veracity’ and ‘temper tantrums’, to Sushant Singh Rajput.

Karan Johar and Dharma Production in NCB’s radar

Besides being named as one of the flag bearers of the culture of nepotism in Bollywood which allegedly pushed actor Sushant Singh Rajput over the edge, Karan Johar and his company Dharma Production had also got embroiled in a controversy after the filmmaker was summoned by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) to question in the case in December, last year. Johar’s interrogation was reportedly linked to the arrest of Kshitij Ravi Prasad who is said to be a close aide of Johar and worked in his production house, who was arrested in connection with the Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case.

Moreover, the NCB had also issued Karan Johar a notice on the 17th of December demanding an explanation from the filmmaker on the party video that had gone viral. Johar had then sent a bizarre explanation to NCB claiming that he had lost the phone he had used to shoot his 2019 viral party video which had featured many big Bollywood celebrities like Deepika Padukone, Vicky Kaushal, Shahid Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Malaika Arora, Arjun Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Zoya Akhtar, Ayan Mukerji, Mira Rajput, Shakun Batra and others high on drugs.

USA: FBI arrests MIT’s nanotech professor for hiding links with Chinese govt

A professor and researcher at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) was arrested by the FBI officials in Massachusetts on Thursday for failing to disclose his close ties with the People’s Republic of China (PRC) when seeking federal grant money.

According to the reports, the 56-year-old nanotechnology scientist Gang Chen was charged by criminal complaint with wire fraud and failing to file a foreign bank account report (FBAR). The authorities have accused him of hiding details about his contracts, appointments and awards from various entities in China to the US Department of Energy. Prof Chan is also accused of making a false statement in a tax return.

The prosecutors said Chen was involved in various efforts to promote China’s technological and scientific development, including acting as an “overseas expert” for the Chinese government at the request of its New York consulate.

As per reports, Chen failed to disclose his foreign bank accounts and did not mention his links with China while taking US government grants from the Department of Energy.

The press release issued by the District of Massachusetts stated that Chen is a naturalized US citizen who was born in China. At the time of his arrest, Chen was a professor and researcher at MIT where he served as Director of the MIT Pappalardo Micro/Nano Engineering Laboratory and Director of the Solid-State Solar Thermal Energy Conversion Center (S3TEC). Chen’s research at MIT has been funded by more than $19 million in grants awarded by various US federal agencies.

Since 2012, Chen has allegedly held various appointments with the PRC designed to promote the PRC’s technological and scientific development by providing advice and expertise, sometimes directly to Chinese government officials and received financial compensation in exchange. Chen acted as an “overseas expert” for the Chinese government at the request of the Chinese Consulate Office in New York and serving as a member of at least two PRC Talent Programs.

As per the FBI, from 2013, Chen allegedly received approximately $29 million of foreign funding, including $19 million from the PRC’s Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). It is further alleged that Chen’s efforts to promote the PRC’s scientific and economic development were partially detailed in a February 2016 email that Chen sent himself using his MIT e-mail account.

Following his arrest, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has executed search warrants at his home in Cambridge and office at MIT. According to the US laws, Chen could end up in prison for up to 20 years and a fine of up to $250,000 if charges are proved.

Chen was later released on bail. In a statement, MIT claimed that it was “deeply distressed” by the arrest. Meanwhile, Chen’s attorney, Robert Fisher, said the 56-year-old “loves the United States and looks forward to vigorously defending these allegations.”

Chinese infiltration into US universities, allegation of CPC spy ring

Earlier in December, shocking revelations had come forth regarding the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)’s massive funding into US universities and its research programme. We had reported in detail about how the Chinese Communist Party not only spends a lot of money on gifts to researches in US universities but also about how it ran a spy ring inside the United States.

Shockingly, the Chinese have infiltrated into the top US universities, such as Princeton and Harvard in the US and have been successful in not only stealing strategic research documents but also employing researches in these universities as Chinese spies. The Communist Party of China under the leadership of Ji Xinping has pumped a lot of money into universities, especially Harvard and Yale, reports have claimed.

It is estimated that the total tally of gifts and contracts from China to US universities since the start of 2013 is around $1 billion. Nearly 115 colleges received monetary gifts, contracts or both from sources in mainland China from 2013 to 2019, according to US government data

China funds massive amount on US universities

Most suspect that China was investing billions of dollars into university after fully realising the need for trapping the world’s most brilliant minds who teach at these universities. The China has successfully established a spy ring at top US universities, including Harvard and other Boston universities.

Reportedly, the Chinese military sends its spies disguised as students, who are specifically trained to steal intellectual property and research documents from the university labs and send it back to China.

Addition to that, a leak from the CCP records had revealed that the Chinse government through a recruitment agency carried out a well-coordinated infiltration by getting its members employed in senior, specialist and advisory positions in consulates of countries such as India, UK, USA and Australia.

The leak had suggested that CCP has infiltrated the consulates of a few countries in Shanghai through a government-run recruitment agency. Through a well-coordinated effort, advisers were placed in western countries for over a decade. At least 10 consulates in Shanghai employed CCP members as senior political and government affairs specialists, clerks, economic advisers and executive assistants.
