No actionable evidence so far to link BJP leader Kapil Mishra and Anurag Thakur with the Delhi anti-Hindu riots: Police to HC

Delhi Police has been investigating the North-East Delhi’s anti-Hindu riots, where Islamists went rampaging on the streets of the national capital, causing multiple waves of bloodshed, property destruction and rioting in February this year. The Delhi police on Monday informed the Delhi High Court that during the investigation conducted so far, they have not found any “actionable evidence” which indicates any role being played by any prominent political leader, including BJP leader Kapil Mishra and MP Anurag Thakur in “instigating and/or participating in the riots”.

The Delhi Police submission came in response to multiple PILs seeking registration of FIRs against many political leaders including BJP leader Kapil Mishra and Anurag Thakur. There were allegations of triggering the communal riots by allegedly giving ‘provocative’ speech ahead of Delhi elections. The PILs have accused several leaders from BJP, AAP and Congress, of delivering hate speeches.

Delhi Police says there has been selective outrage

Calling the PILs ‘motivated’, the Delhi Police has alleged that the petitioners have selectively outraged over some incidents while ignoring other instances of violence.

According to reports, the Delhi Police affidavit stated: “In case, during investigation, the role of aforesaid persons in commissioning of the offences in the respective FIRs would surface, then Delhi Police would be duty bound to take statutory steps as mandated under the law against the aforesaid persons… However, no fresh FIR is warranted at this stage.”

The police informed that court that the alleged hate speeches were being examined by the Delhi Police, which will take the necessary action in the due course of time, in case it is found on the evidence that their speech has any nexus with the riots. “In case any evidence is found linking the alleged offensive speech with commissioning of crime during riots, appropriate FIRs would be filed immediately or the said persons would be arraigned as an accused,” it said.

The Delhi riots were not sporadic but a well thought of conspiracy- Delhi Police to HC

Delhi Police said that the prima facie evidence reveals that the anti-Hindu riots which were carried out in the month of February, 2020, was not a spontaneous or any sporadic violence, but a “well thought of conspiracy to destabilise the harmony in the society”.

The affidavit also stated that “no involvement of any police officials has been found” either in rioting so far. The police “acted promptly, vigilantly and effectively without any fear or favour as a result of which violence could be contained in a few days and could be confined to a limited area”, read the submissions made by the police to the HC.

BJP leader Kapil Mishra and MP Anurag Thakur blamed for the Delhi riots

The anti-CAA protests in Delhi which began after the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) got a clear passage in December, turned violent when mobs went rampaging on the streets of national capital February 24 onward. Soon the leftist media and ‘liberals’ had tried to implicate BJP leader Kapil Mishra and MP Anurag Thakur in the Delhi riots claiming that their allegedly ‘provocative’ statements ahead of Delhi elections triggered the riots.

The bench of Chief Justice D N Patel and Justice Prateek Jalan has listed the matter for further hearing on July 21.

Bangladesh: Islamists dig up the grave of an Ahmadi newborn and throw the corpse on the road because she was ‘infidel’

On Saturday, the leaders of the Ahmadi community in Bangladesh reportedly accused radical Islamists of digging up the grave of a newborn baby and dumping the corpse on the roadside. The infant was buried in a government-owned cemetery on Thursday in Ghatura in Sadar Upazila in the Brahmanbaria district of Bangladesh.

As per the reports, the grave was dug within hours of being buried and the deceased was exhumed by the fanatics. The incident has sparked a debate on social media as Muslims consider ‘Ahmadiyas’ as inferior infidels (Kaafirs). Leaders from the Ahmadi community staged a protest and demanded strict punishment for the perpetrators.

Reportedly, the toddler was born at 5:30 am on Thursday to one Swapna Begum at Christian Memorial Hospital in Brahmanbaria town. However, the girl was kept in an incubator owing to complications. She died on the same day at 7 am and was buried in a government-owned graveyard. However, maulvis (Islamic clerics) were miffed with the decision. Reports state that some ‘fanatics’, who had objected to the ‘infidel’ child being buried in a Muslim graveyard, later dug the grave and dumped it by a roadside.

Body of infant re-buried at another cemetery

On being informed, the cops rushed to the scene and the family members later buried the infant’s exhumed body at Kandirpara village, around 16 kilometres away, at 11:30 am on the same day. The re-burial was reportedly facilitated by a local councillor Azad Hazari. “The dead body was buried at the graveyard of the Ahmadiyya community at Kandirpara village after we spoke with the locals,” Mohammed Salim, Officer-in-Charge of Brahmanbaria Sadar police station. However, he did not answer when asked by reporters whether action will be taken against the perpetrators.

Burning Ahmadis in a Muslim graveyard against Sharia, claims Maulvi

According to Saiful Islam, the father of the deceased, he was unable to recognise the anti-Ahmadiyas who had dug the grave of his daughter. The President of the local unit of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jammat, SM Ibrahim, has squarely blamed the Maulvis of different mosques for inciting anti-Ahmadis to commit the heinous act. In his defence, a local Maulvi named Munir Hossain said that Muslims in the area objected to the parents’ decision to bury the body of the infant at the Muslim cemetery. “It is against the Sharia to let an infidel be buried in a Muslim graveyard. The pious Muslims of the village would never let it happen,” he was quoted as saying.

Persecution of Ahmadis in Bangladesh

The Ahmadis have been the subject of religious persecution in the Islamic Republics of Bangladesh and Pakistan because of the belief that their founder was the Prophet. About 1 lac Ahmadis in Bangladesh have reportedly been attacked. In recent months, Muslim fundamentalists threatened authorities to declare them as non- Muslims. Reportedly, in 2015, three people were injured during a suicide bombing attack at an Ahmadi mosque in the town of Bagmara. In another incident in 1999, a bomb hurled at an Ahmadi mosque in Khulna left 8 people dead.

Another YouTuber, Imtiyaz Shaikh alias Umesh Dada, arrested for issuing rape threats against comedian Agrima Joshua

The storm kicked up by comedian Agrima Joshua’s controversial snippet from the last year making contemptuous remarks against iconic Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj does not seem to abate. Following Shubham Mishra’s arrest for dishing out rape threats to the said comedian, another man has been arrested from Nalasopara, Mumbai, on the charges of allegedly threatening to rape the comedian.

The arrest of the man named Umesh Dada alias Imtiyaz Shaikh was informed by the state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh through his Twitter feed on Monday afternoon. He had recently posted a video replete with sexual threats and abuses directed at Joshua.

YouTuber Shaikh is a friend of Shubham Mishra, another social media influencer, known for his abusive and obscene rants on the Internet, and who was arrested in Vadodara after he posted an appallingly abusive and threatening video against comedian Agrima Joshua for her scornful remarks for the Shiv Smarak, the memorial to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the Arabian Sea.

Rashmi Karandikar, the deputy commissioner of police (DCP) (Cyber), Mumbai crime branch, said that the department has taken suo-moto action and have arrested Shaikh from Nalasopara. An investigation is currently underway to ascertain who all helped him in creating the video and if he had colluded with Shubham Mishra to create the abusive video against Joshua together.

“He has been booked under Sections 294 (obscene acts or words in public), 354A (sexual harassment), 354B (a man, who assaults or uses criminal force to any woman or abets such act with the intention of disrobing), 505 (whoever makes, publishes or circulates any statement, rumour or report), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 509 (intention to insult the modesty of any woman) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and Section 67A (publication or transmission in the electronic form of any material, which contains sexually explicit act) of the Information Technology (IT) Act, 200. He would be produced in court Tuesday,” she added.

Agrima Joshua’s remarks for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj draw the ire of Shiv Sena and MNS

A massive controversy broke out after a snippet of a video of a stand-up ‘comedian’ Agrima Joshua insulting the memorial to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the Arabian sea went viral on social media platforms. A wave of outrage and anger erupted across the state against the comedian for insulting a historical personality who is widely hailed for his unparalleled contribution towards the Indian cultural renaissance.

An affront to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj did not sit well with the Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena(MNS) party whose workers reached the studio where the stand-up video was shot and created a ruckus for allowing their facility to be used by individuals who had mocked Shiv Smarak–a memorial to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the Arabian Sea.

On the other hand, the scornfully derisive remarks against Maharashtra’s tallest icon–Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj provoked an angry response from Shiv Sena MLA Pratap Sarnaik as well, who wrote a letter to the state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh demanding strict against the comedian.

“A comedian named Agrima Joshua has made disparaging remarks against Shivaji Maharaj in her comedy stand-up gig. I saw the video and I feel she doesn’t have respect for Shivaji Maharaj or she doesn’t know about him. I have also written to the Home Minister demanding her arrest,” Sarnaik said in a video uploaded on his official Twitter account.

Death of eight policemen and the encounter of gangster Vikas Dubey

On the night of 2nd July, three police teams had gone to arrest Vikas Dubey. The gangster allegedly got a tip-off from Chaubeypur police station about the raid and laid an ambush for the team. Eight police personnel lost their lives in the attack. The postmortem report of the policemen revealed shocking details about how they were attacked and killed. In the aftermath, police suspended the station in charge of Chaubeypur police station on suspicion of tipping Dubey about the raid. He was later arrested along with beat in-charge from the same station.

Vikas Dubey’s close aide Amar Dubey was killed in a police encounter on 08th July. On 9th July, Dubey was arrested in Ujjain. USA rejects China’s ‘might is right’ claims on the South China Sea, says PRC’s predatory mindset has no place in the 21st century

In a press release on Monday, the United States (US) State Department warned China against its ‘campaign of bullying’ and unlawful offshore activities in the South China Sea. The press release accused the Communist-run-country of undermining international laws, asserting dominion, and infringing upon the sovereignty of coastal areas of other Southeast Asian countries.

The US State Department noted that the expansionist policies of China became clear when the foreign minister of the country Yang Jiechi in 2010 said to other members of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), “China is a big country and other countries are small countries and that is just a fact.” The press release noted that the ‘predatory mindset’ possessed by the Chinese government is unsustainable in the 21st century.

The United States pointed out that China has no legal backing to most of its claims, including the ‘Nine-Dash Line’ claim in the South China Sea, which the Communist-run-country made in 2009. Recounting the decision made by the Arbitral Tribunal on July 12, 2016, the State Department noted that the Tribunal rejected China’s maritime claims and sided with the Philippines instead.  The press release emphasised that the decision of the arbitral Tribunal was final and binding on all litigants. As such, the State Department reiterated that it will be aligning itself with the same position as that of the Tribunal.

US condemns harassment by China

The press release also lighted that China cannot assert its claims on the Scarborough Reef and the Spratly Islands which belongs exclusively to the Philippine’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). The State Department stated that the ‘harassment’ of the Philippines by China over fisheries and offshore economic development is unlawful. The press release made it clear that China has no maritime rights over Mischief Reef or Second Thomas Shoal, as they fall under the territory and jurisdiction of Philipines.

The United States also rejected China’s claims over Luconia Shoals (jurisdiction of Malaysia), Vanguard Bank (jurisdiction of Vietnam), and Natuna Besar (jurisdiction of Indonesia). Highlighting the example of James Shoal, a submerged territory about 50 nautical miles from Malaysia, the press release emphasised that such an ‘underwater feature’ cannot be claimed by any State, let alone China. The State Department reiterated that carrying out unilateral activities in the territory of sovereign countries along the South China Sea for fishing or hydrocarbon development is ‘unlawful harassment’

US vows to stand with Southeast Asian allies

“The world will not allow Beijing to treat the South China Sea as its maritime empire. America stands with our Southeast Asian allies and partners in protecting their sovereign rights to offshore resources, consistent with their rights and obligations under international law. We stand with the international community in defense of freedom of the seas and respect for sovereignty and reject any push to impose “might makes right” in the South China Sea or the wider region,” the press release concluded.

Expansionism of China

Reportedly, China has been relentless in illegally occupying land in at least 21 countries. Even though the International Court of Justice has rejected its dubious claims, China continues to assert ownership of islands in the Philippines. The same is the case with Vietnam. Communist-run country has claimed fishing rights in the water near islands in Indonesian territory. Besides, China has disputes with Laos, Cambodia on ‘historical precedents and with Thailand over the Mekong river since 2001. China has disputes with Japan over Senkaku and Ryu Kya islands. Moreover, the expansionist country has staked claim to the whole of South Korea on some occasions. Besides, the Communist-controlled country also has disputes with North Korea over Mount Pek-tu and the Tuman river. Earlier, it was reported that China had occupied the Rui village in Gorkha district of Nepal.

PTI slapped with Rs.84 crore bill for missing payments and lease agreement violation for its office

The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has sent a notice to the Press Trust of India asking them to pay dues worth Rs.84.48 crore. The department has accused the news agency of violating the terms of the lease agreement under which they got the land for the office on Sansad Marg, New Delhi.

The Land and Development office, which comes under the ministry, sent the notice to PTI on 7th July. The news agency has been asked to clear the dues within a month, failing to which 10% per annum interest will be applied on the pending amount.

Misuse of the building and illegal construction

The govt has sought Rs.84,48,23,281 for the delays and misuse of the building. It was mentioned that PTI has to regularise the breaches in the premises temporarily up to 14 July 2020. In case PTI fails to follow the conditions specified in the notice within 30 days from the date of issue of the letter, the department will withdraw the right of re-entry of the premises. The pending rent payments run back to as far as 1984.

The notice also says that illegal construction work has been carried out on the premises.

The notice also asked the news agency to give an undertaking on non-judicial stamp paper on which PTI has to state that it will pay the difference of “misuse and damage charges” if the government revise the rates with effect from 01 April 2016. The notice said, “Further action to execute the lease deed shall be subject to complete payment and putting the premises to use as per permissible under the master plan.”

Prasar Bharti threatens to cancel subscription

Just two weeks ago, national broadcaster Prasar Bharati had accused PTI of publishing an interview of the Chinese ambassador amidst the ongoing border standoff with China, which was used by the Chinese media to paint India in a bad light. Threatening the news agency to cancel the subscription, Prasar Bharati officials said that such anti-national news coverage makes it difficult to continue the relationship with the agency that the two have shared for decades.

Under the ministry of information and broadcasting, the state broadcaster comprises Doordarshan Television Network and All India Radio. It pays an annual subscription fee of Rs.9.5 crore to PTI.

Kanpur encounter: Postmortem report of 8 policemen killed by Vikas Dubey’s men reveals extreme brutality. Read details

The postmortem report of the 8 cops who were killed when gangster Vikas Dubey’s men ambushed them earlier this month has revealed barbaric details. As per the reports, sharp weapons were used to kill CO Devendra Mishra and other cops who had gone to raid Dubey’s residence. The brutality shows that they just didn’t want to kill them but take revenge on them.

As per the postmortem report, CO Devendra Mishra was shot at 4 times of which 3 bullets went through his body. 1 bullet hit his head, one in his chest and 2 hit his stomach.

Bullet wounds of CO Devendra Mishra

The autopsy has revealed that all these bullets were fired from point blank range. Not just that, after this, Vikas Dubey’s men chopped off his legs as well. Because of bullet injury, one of his vital organs had come out of his body because of which he died immediately.

Other than this, 3 policemen were shot in the head and one was shot in the face. It is clear from the postmortem reports of all 8 cops that they were killed with extreme brutality.

Constable Sultan was also shot twice. Other cops were shot at at least 8-10 times each because of which they died on the spot. The doctors were shocked at seeing the brutality and bullet ridden bodies of the cops. They were shot at face, head, feet, chest and stomach.

Most of the bullets went through and through the cops, because of which they lost their lives immediately. Autopsy of three cops revealed that the bullets had broken into multiple pieces after hitting their bones. Vikas Dubey’s men used rifles to shoot at the cops. The bullets found in the autopsy will be sent for further investigation.

China eyes 400 billion dollar deal with Iran, may cloud India’s Chabahar port prospects

While philosophers may argue money doesn’t buy everything, for China, other than PR which can hide its misdeeds of unleashing deadly virus on the world, it also seems to have now bought ‘strategic relations’ with India’s ally Iran. The Communist government in China is all set to sign a 25-year USD 400 billion ‘economic and strategic partnership’ deal with Iran.

This strategic deal will open Iran’s door for China across the Iranian economy. From banking to telecommunication to ports and railways – China will be able to expand its net in Iranian economy across sectors. Over a dozen projects in Iran are expected to go to Chinese companies. In return, China is hoping for cheaper, steady oil supply from Iran at a heavily discounted rate for quarter of a century.

Further, WION news reports that Iran and China will undertake joint military training and exercises, research and weapon development as well as share intelligence inputs. With this, China may overshadow India’s relationship with Iran. This could cloud India’s prospects at Chabahar port, which was seen as one of India’s biggest strategic moves to counter China-Pakistan’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Chabahar Port

Chabahar Port is seen as India’s gateway for trade in Central Asian countries. Strategically located in the Sistan-Baluchistan Province on Iran’s southern coast, Chabahar port lies outside the Persian Gulf and can be easily accessed from India from the Kandla port. In May 2016, India signed a bilateral deal with Iran which gave us the right to develop and operate two terminals and five berths with multipurpose cargo handling capacities in Chabahar port for 10 years.

As of now, China has not confirmed whether the 400 billion dollar deal with Iran is finalised or not.

Here are the six significant statements by the court today while denying bail to Tahir Hussain, accused in the Delhi anti-Hindu riots

The bail application of the suspended Aam Aadmi Party councillor, Tahir Hussain, accused in the murder of IB staffer Ankit Sharma and for his involvement in the gruesome Delhi riots that claimed the lives of over 50 people and left hundreds injured, has been rejected by the Delhi Court today.

The Additional Sessions Judge Vinod Yadav had made various observations while rejecting the bail application of the AAP leader, who has been in judicial custody since March. Hussain had sought bail on the grounds that there is no cogent evidence to connect him to the alleged murder of Sharma.

Tahir Hussain exhorted the rioters of a particular community

Turning down Tahir Hussain’s plea the Delhi court confirmed that there was enough material on record to presume that the applicant was present at the spot of crime and was exhorting the rioters of a particular community.

The suspended AAP leader used rioters as “human weapons”

It said that “he did not use his hands and fists, but rioters as “human weapons”, who on his instigation could have killed anybody.”

Possibility of the witnesses being threatened by Tahir Hussain

The Court furthered that the witnesses in the cases are residents of the same locality and there were possibilities of the witnesses being threatened by Hussain if he was released on bail, as Hussain was a powerful person. “The witnesses in the cases are residents of the same locality as Hussain and can easily be threatened by a powerful person like him”, observed the court rejecting the AAP councillors bail application.

Enough ocular evidence available against Hussain

The court accepted the arguments given by the witnesses who said Hussain was present at the place where the incident took place and it was on his instigation that the rioters had killed Sharma. Accepting the argument, the court said that the absence of CCTV footage “does not hold water in the teeth of the statements of eyewitnesses on record”.

“Even if there is no video footage or CCTV footage, showing the presence of the applicant at the spot, but there is enough ocular evidence available on record,” the judge observed.

Prima facie involvement of Tahir Hussain in the deep-rooted conspiracy

The Delhi Court had said that the Delhi Riots were the result of a deep-rooted conspiracy and was carried out in an organised manner. There seems to be a prima facie involvement of AAP councillor Tahir Hussain in the deep-rooted conspiracy, furthered the court.

Tahir Hussain and his connection with Pinjra Tod and others in question

Saying this, the Delhi Court also observed that the role of Hussain is also being investigated and his connection to other members of Pinjra Tod, Jamia Co-ordination Committee, United Against Hate group etc are being probed.

Tahir Hussain, the Aam Admi Party (AAP) councillor was involved in the organisation and execution of the Delhi Riots. In the chargesheets filed by the Delhi Police and the Special Cell, it is revealed that Tahir Hussain met Umar Khalid and Khalid Saifi of ‘India Against Hate’ group and hatched a plan for the Delhi riots way back on the 8th of January. This meeting was held at Shaheen Bagh where the anti-CAA protests were taking place.

The chargesheets also say that Tahir Hussain got money to organise these riots from several quarters in shell companies. In another disclosure, it was reported that Khalid Saifi had even travelled to Malaysia to meet Islamist Zakir Naik to collect funds for the Delhi Riots.

In his disclosure statement, Tahir Hussain details how he organised the riots to take revenge against Hindus and teach ‘Kafirs’ a lesson. He further spoke about making PCR calls in between the riots to ensure that he had a solid alibi. Further, he also reveals how he had organised for thousands of Muslims to congregate in the Chand Bagh area to carry out the riots.

Nepal PM says Shri Ram was Nepali and India has created ‘fake Ayodhya’, admits scholars will not believe his ‘new fact’

Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has been unwell lately. Recently, when news of his impending resignation was rife, he was admitted to a hospital for treatment. He escalated diplomatic tensions with India by updating the map of Nepal claiming Indian territories for the country. Now, after allegations of encroachment of land, KP Sharma Oli has taken to claiming that India has engaged in ‘cultural encroachment’.

During a recent event to commemorate Bhanubhakta’s birth anniversary, the Nepalese Prime Minister claimed that India had created a ‘fake Ayodhya’ in India when, according to him, it is a village in Birgunj in Nepal. “Although the real Ayodhya lies at Thori in the west of Birgunj, India have claimed the Indian site as the birthplace of Lord Ram,” said KP Sharma Oli.

He said, “We also believe that deity Sita got married to Prince Ram of India. Actually, Ayodhya is a village lying west of Birgunj.” “Ayodhya is at Thori, west of Birgunj, Balmiki Ashram is in Nepal and the holy place where King Dasharath had executed the rites to get the son is in Ridi,” he added. The Nepalese Prime Minister stated, “Dasharath’s son Ram was not an Indian and Ayodhya is also in Nepal.” “We did not give Sita, who was born in Janakpur, to an Indian prince but Sita was married to Ram of Ayodhya, not of India,” he said.

Opposition parties in Nepal have slammed KP Sharma Oli for making such ridiculous remarks. Co-chairperson of Rastriya Prajatantra Party Kamal Thapa it does not behove a Prime Minister to make such baseless, unproven claims. “It looks like the PM wants to further spoil Nepal-India relations rather than working to resolve tensions,” Thapa said.

It is pertinent to note that the birthplace of Shri Ram has always been regarded as Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya. His birthplace was the site of a dispute centuries old. Hindus secured the right to build a Temple at the sacred site through a Supreme Court verdict in 2019. The Ram Janmabhoomi Movement, which was launched to reclaim Shri Ram’s birthplace, has altered the course of Indian history for all eternity. KP Sharma Oli did admit while making the ridiculous claim that scholars would not agree with him on this ‘new fact’.

Tensions between India and Nepal

Nepal’s lower house of parliament passed an amendment recently to update the country’s map including Indian areas of Limpiyadhura, Lipulekh, and Kalapani in the constitution of the country. The bill was supported by all the 258 lawmakers present and voting.

The move came on the heels of the endorsement extended by Nepal’s House of Representatives on June 10 to have a proposal seeking consideration of the constitution amendment bill for change of country’s map following a long discussion. India has consistently rejected these claims, terming it untenable.

Recently, a Nepalese lawmaker Sarita Giri was removed from the House of Representatives for taking a pro-India stand.
