‘Young children being radicalised, need de-radicalisation camps in Kashmir,’ says CDS General Bipin Rawat

Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat has emphasised on the need for deradicalisation camps in Kashmir for children who had been radicalised. He made the remark while addressing the Raisina Dialogue, a conclave of global affairs being hosted by the Observer Research Foundation (ORF). He also denied that the Indian Army was being heavy-handed in its approach and used pellet guns only sparingly.

The General said, “Radicalisation can be countered. We saw it happening in Kashmir… Today, we see that young children are also being radicalised. They need to be identified and then we need to put them in de-radicalisation camps. The Indian army has not been using hard tactics… Pellet guns are a non-lethal practice. It is sparingly used.”

General Bipin Rawat also brought some realism into the debate around stopping terrorism. He said, “Terrorism is here to stay so long as there are going to be states that are going to sponsor terrorism and they are going to use terrorists as proxies, make weapons available to them, make funding for them, then we can’t control terrorism.”

The CDS also observed that there was a need to isolate state sponsors of terror. “Any country which is sponsoring terrorism has to be taken to task. I feel one of the measures adopted is of blacklisting by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) is one good measure. Diplomatic isolation, you have to do this,” he said.

By filing suit against CAA, Communists in Kerala have ensured that they will be remembered for opposing justice for persecuted minorities

0

Govt of the state of Kerala has filed a suit against the Union of India challenging the constitutional validity of the Citizenship Amendment Act 2019 (CAA), Passport (Entry to India) Amendment Rules 2015 and Foreigner order 2015. The suit is filed under Article 131 of the constitution which provides for original jurisdiction of the Supreme court. Under this Article, the Supreme Court is empowered to decide disputes between the Union govt and state govts or between two or more states. Both the impugned Act and Rules are challenged on the ground that they violate article 14,21 and 25 of Indian constitution and are violative of the principle of secularism which is a basic feature of the constitution.

Such an original suit can be filed by a state against the Union if there is a dispute between the two which involves any question of fact or law on which existence or extent of a legal right depends.

Kerala is the first state to have filed a suit against the CAA. No other state has challenged the said Act in any court of law yet. Kerala state assembly had earlier passed a resolution against the CAA. Such resolution has no force as the state assembly has no right to deny enforcement of a law passed by parliament. Citizenship being a subject in the Union list, the parliament of India is absolutely competent to make laws on the same. All states are bound by any laws made by parliament and have to take all necessary steps for enforcement of such law. There are reports that Kerala CM Pinarayee Vijayan has written to all the non-BJP chief ministers urging them to take similar steps against the CAA.

The arguments against the constitutionality of the CAA are not convincing enough. However, it is going to be interesting to see what the Supreme Court decided in this Kerala v. Union dispute.

Pinarayee Vijayan hails from the Communist Party of India (Marxist). Communists have had a bloody history all over the world. From Stalin to Mao and to Naxalites in India, the followers of this ideology have always tried to seize power using violence and persecuting those who have different opinions. Even today, several RSS karyakartas have had to lose their lives only because they did not believe in communism and they had their own ideology. So, it is naïve of us to expect that a Communist govt would ever support a law doing justice to persecuted minorities. By filing this suit challenging CAA and by painting this law as anti-Muslim, the Kerala govt has resorted to Muslim appeasement and divisive politics. Whatever the outcome of this litigation may be, Pinarayee Vijayan needs to know that the whole nation is watching and is going to remember how the Communist party did not stand in solidarity with the nation in doing justice to the persecuted minorities from our neighbouring countries.

‘Kaagaz nahi dikhayenge’ fame comedian all set to give fingerprints and all documents to Trump government in US

On 21st December last year, comedian Varun Grover posted a poem titled “Kaagaz Nahin Dikhayenge. It loosely translates to “We will not show papers.” He said that he wrote the poem to “resist” CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) and NRC (National Register of Citizens).

Since CAA does not apply to any Indian citizen, it becomes imperative to ask the need for resistance against displaying documents when it is not required in the first place. As for pan-India NRC, it is worth mentioning that the draft has not yet been laid down by the Government.

A public figure must adhere to facts, else it might send out a wrong message to the society. But, this did not deter Grover from being part of the machinery that disseminates misleading claims and baseless assumptions regarding NRC or CAA.

Read: “Hum kagaz nahin dikhayenge, but please bring valid ID proof to attend our concert”

Amusingly, when on 16th January, Grover announced his upcoming tour to the United States on Twitter, netizens were quick to point out his hypocrisy.

A Twitter user argued about the discrepancy in his stance.

Grover has been adamant about not showing his documents to the Indian Government. But, now he has to share his biometric data and identity documents with the US government. Another user wrote Grover’s poem back to him.

“Don’t show documents”, he said. As per US government website, one needs to submit passport and other required documents in order to obtain visa to visit the United States. In fact, during the interview process for the visa, ink-free digital fingerprint scans are carried out at embassy. A little too much documentation for someone who said he won’t show his documents to Indian government and even urged others to follow the same.

Grover’s ‘revolutionary poem’ seems to have boomeranged back to him.

Varun Grover also came under the scanner at the peak of the #MeToo movement in India. He was accused anonymously by a college junior of molestation in 2001 at Benaras Hindu University.

Pakistan Army spokesperson Major General Asif Ghafoor replaced, transferred to the infantry division

0

Recently Twitter has been abuzz with speculations that Pakistan Army spokesperson Major General Asif Ghafoor has been dismissed from his duties. Amidst different hypothesis being shared on the micro-blogging site, it has been reported today that Asif Ghafoor has been transferred and posted as the general officer commanding of the Pakistan Army’s 40th Infantry Division based out of Okara in Pakistan’s Punjab providence.

Reports suggest that Ghafoor has been transferred as his tenure came to an end. He has been replaced by Major General Babar Iftikhar, who will be the new DG ISPR (Director General, Inter-Services Public Relations) of Pakistan army. The Pakistan Military spokesperson took to Twitter today to confirm his transfer.

Major General Ghafoor was commissioned into the Pakistan Army in 1988 and appointed the director-general of ISPR in December 2016.

As the chief spokesperson of Pakistan’s military, Major General Asif Ghafoor has had a history of gaffes and bluster. He has been on several occasions called out for sharing incorrect information on social media platforms.

In fact, his recent “Should an already butchered be butchered again?” tweet had generated massive reactions on social media in Pakistan and many had condemned it as an open threat to massacre own citizens.

On May 26, Pakistan’s all-powerful military, which has been controlling the country, had tried to suppress a rights demonstration in the troubled region of Waziristan. At a peaceful protest organised by Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) – an umbrella organisation and a political movement for the protection of basic rights of Pashtuns in Pakistan – at Khar Kamar checkpoint in northern Waziristan, Pakistan’s dictatorial military initiated violent confrontation that left at least 13 people dead and 25 others wounded. Maj. Gen. Asif Ghafoor had mocked this incident which drew him flak on social media.

When news of Ghafoor being replaced started storming the micro-blogging site, many Pakistani ‘liberals’ and Twitter users wondered whether the Army spokesperson was being punished for his insensitive remark over his own people.

Known for his ludicrous shenanigans and lies, Pakistan Military spokesperson Asif Ghafoor has reduced himself to a silly troll on Twitter.

The abrogation of Article 370 in the erstwhile state of Jammu & Kashmir had rattled Pakistan to the core. Last year in July, Major Ghafoor had shared a doctored video of Air Marshal Keelor speaking on ’65 war as Balakot airstrikes. In a seemingly drunken tweet after the historic decision of abrogation of Article 370, Ghafoor proclaimed that Pakistan will ‘take Kashmir back‘. “It won’t be until just struggle of our Kashmiris succeeds. It will IA succeed,” he had tweeted (IA stands for InshaAllah).

Kamal Nath led Congress govt in MP suspends a school principal for distributing notebooks with Savarkar photo

Kamal Nath led Congress government in Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday sacked a government school principal for distributing notebooks with Veer Savarkar’s photo on it.

The Principal of government-run school at Malwasa in Ratlam district was suspended after he distributed free notebooks with Veer Savarkar’s photo on the cover. An NGO named Veer Savarkar Manch had distributed free long notebooks to the students of high school on November 4 last year.

As per Nai Dunia report, an NGO official, who is a BJP supporter, had uploaded the pictures of books distribution on his Facebook account. From there, a Congress leader reported it to Congress IT cell from where information was sought from Bhopal Collector and District Education Officer.

This incident triggered sharp reaction from Former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Taking to Twitter, He accused the Kamal Nath government of playing “petty politics’

Students of the school today held a protest demanding withdrawal of suspension orders of their school principal.

Recently, an action was taken against Mumbai University Professor by Congress-NCP-Shiv Sena led Maharashtra government for posting a video against Rahul Gandhi’s “I’m Rahul Gandhi not Rahul Savarkar” comment. Reportedly, In the 51-second video, Soman is seen telling Rahul Gandhi, “You truly are not Savarkar, you don’t have any qualities of him. The truth is you are not a true Gandhi either…”

Underworld Don Haji Mastan’s son confirms Indira Gandhi met Karim Lala, calls his father ‘Pakka Congressi’

Firebrand Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut triggered a massive controversy when he revealed that former Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi used to visit Karim Lala, one of three most powerful underworld dons of Mumbai. Raut’s remark had sparked massive outrage from the Congress party following which he was forced to retract his statement. However, there appears to be more trouble in store for the Congress party.

Sundar Shekhar, the adoptive son of another Mumbai don of the time, Haji Mastan, has revealed that his father had a good relationship with leaders from the Congress party. He added that the don shared a good relationship with Shiv Sena icon Bal Thackeray as well. Sundar also confirmed that Indira Gandhi had indeed met Karim Lala in Mumbai.

Furthermore, he called Haji Mastan a ‘Pakka Congressi’ and appeared astonished that Sanjay Raut retracted his statement. He also mentioned the names of Sushilkumar Shinde and Murli Deora as politicians with whom meetings were fixed. Shinde was the Home Minister in Manmohan Singh’s cabinet and the Leader of the House in Lok Sabha until the 26th of May, 2014.

Murli Deora is the father of Congress leader Milind Deora who was a candidate for the Congress party from Maharashtra in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Murli Deora himself has been a senior leader of the Congress party and served as a Minister of Cabinet rank in the Manmohan Singh government. He has also been the Mayor of Mumbai and an elected representative in both houses of the Parliament.

Haji Mastan was a dreaded don in Mumbai who had a pact with Karim Lala and Varadarajan Mudaliar which divided Mumbai into three parts where each operated their businesses in order to avoid conflict. Together, the trio was referred to as the “three dons of Mumbai”.

Zee News Twitter account retweets tweets in support of Shaheen Bagh anti-CAA protests

Zee News’ official Twitter account today retweeted tweets in support of Shaheen Bagh anti-CAA protests.

Zee News Twitter account retweeting pro-Shaheen Bagh protests tweets

These tweets were part of attempt to trend the hashtag ‘#महानऔरते_शहीनबागकी’ which was also used by pro-Congress Twitter accounts and Congress-friendly journalists.

The Shaheen Bagh protests have been flooded with anti-Hindu imagery and slogans.

The image that was shared by Saba Naqvi shows three women wearing a Bindi in Burkha. Below that, are some lines from the Faiz poem ‘Hum Dekhenge’. And in the end, there is the Hindu Swastika being ‘smashed’ and disintegrating. The imagery of the poster clearly points towards the establishment of Islamist supremacy over Hindus and the deep-seated Hinduphobia we have seen throughout the anti-CAA protests.

The women in Bindis wearing Hijab only remind us of how Islamists view Hindu women as conquests and objects to be ‘owned’. Right below the images of Islamists ‘conquering’ Hindu women, there are lines from the famous Faiz poem, ‘Hum dekhenge’. While the Shaheen Bagh protesters have clearly dropped the controversial lines from the poem that spoke about the destruction of idols and only the reign of Allah surviving, it has to imagine that nestled between the images of Hindu women being ‘conquered’ by Islamists and the Hindu Swastika being shattered, the protesters meant anything but that.

Zee News has now undone the retweets without offering any explanation on those pro-Shaheen Bagh tweets which were retweeted.

Muslim cleric from Uganda discovers his ‘wife’ is a man after 2 weeks of marriage, Mosque suspends him to “preserve the integrity of their faith”

0

In a bizarre incident, a Muslim cleric in Uganda was suspended by his mosque, after his newly-wed wife turned out to be a man in reality.

Sheikh Mohammed Mutumba (27), working as an Imam at the Kyampisi Masjid Noor mosque in Uganda, was left shocked when the truth was revealed two weeks after his marriage when his wife was caught stealing a neighbour’s TV set and some clothes in Kayunga and was searched by the police.

After being arrested, a female police officer carried out a body search on the suspect, as the suspect was supposed to be a woman, but the officer found out that ‘she’ was actually a man.

According to reports, the imposter, Richard Tumushabe, later admitted that he had pretended to be a woman so that he could marry the Imam and steal his money.

The Mosque dismissed the cleric from his duties following this shocking revelation saying that it was to “preserve the integrity of their faith”. Mosque officials said they suspended the imam despite confirming he had entered the marriage thinking Nabukeera was a woman.

The cleric speaking to a local newspaper said that he was under the impression that he was getting married to a woman named Swabullah Nabukeera when they wed in December. Mutumba claimed that they didn’t consummate the marriage because she told him she was menstruating.

One of the cleric’s friends also revealed that the cleric had complained four days after the wedding that his new bride refused “to undress while they slept”.

Amisi Kibunga, who also works at the mosque, said that they were also fooled by the imposter as he usually wore a hijab and spoke in a “sweet soft voice” and “walked like a woman”.

The case is being investigated. The cleric has not been available for comments as he was known to be staying at his relative’s house while receiving counselling to recover from the shock.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to skip all CM meet by Central Government on NPR, says her govt has already stayed NPR updation process

0

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday declared that neither she nor anyone from her government will attend the meet on 17 January meant for discussion on NPR (National Population Register). The meeting is called by the Central Government to be attended by Chief Secretaries of all the states. Mamata Banerjee is also the first Chief Minister who announced that NPR will not be implemented by her state, followed by Communist led Government of Kerala.

Reportedly, she also dared the Governor of West Bengal Jagdish Dhankar to dismiss the state government for not following the Centre. Also cited him as a spokesperson of BJP. Mamata hit out at left and Congress for spreading false assertions about NPR being practiced in West Bengal. She affirmed that practice of NPR has been stopped in Bengal and not a single Act that will affect the citizen’s integrity will be implemented in West Bengal.

Banerjee had met PM Modi last week who was visiting the state and had asked him to rethink about implementation of CAA and NRC. However, during her meeting with the PM at Raj Bhavan, Banerjee wore a black badge to protest against the CAA and NRC.

Earlier this week, Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi had also called for an opposition meeting on 13 January against CAA, NRC that was also boycotted by Mamata Banerjee, Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati and Aam Aadmi Party. Mamata accused congress of indulging in violence and vandalism during Bandh in Bengal and called it as ”Goondagardi” and ”cheap politics”.

Radical Islamic organisation PFI praises Congress over its attempt to weaken anti-terror mechanism by seeking to repeal NIA Act, urges other non-BJP govts to follow

The radical Islamic organization Popular Front of India (PFI) has heaped praises on the Congress party after the Chhattisgarh government approached the Supreme Court demanding the declaration of NIA Act of 2008 as unconstitutional. Ironically, the law that the Congress government in the state seeks to be declared unconstitutional was passed by the Congress-led UPA government in 2008.

In a statement issued by PFI, they said that PFI national general secretary M Mohammed Ali Jinnah welcomed the Chhatisgarh government’s decision and urged the other non-BJP governments to approach the Supreme Court as well. Jinnah said that the law was against the “spirit of federalism”. Another government that received great compliments from the PFI was Pinarayi Vijayan’s government in Kerala.

PFI statement supporting Congress

The statement said, “Kerala has set a good example by officially approaching the apex court against the discriminatory Citizenship Amendment Act. As a state where there are many instances of the misuse of the NIA Act and UAPA, Kerala state government can be in the forefront to follow the example of the Chhattisgarh government and challenge both the laws.”

The statement concluded with the words, “Taking the seriousness of the situation into account, Popular Front appeals other non-BJP state governments to align themselves with Chhattisgarh in raising this demand and to save constitution and federal character of the country.”

The National Investigation Agency Act 2008 conferred powers to the Central Government to form the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to combat terror in India. The agency acts as the Central Counter-Terrorism Law Enforcement Agency and is empowered to deal with terror-related crimes across states without special permission from the states.

The involvement of PFI was suspected in the recent anti-CAA riots across the country. Three people associated with the radical Islamic organization, including UP state head Waseem, have been arrested by the Uttar Pradesh police for orchestrating violence by spreading misinformation through social media platforms. Intelligence agencies had also reported that PFI and SIMI were behind the violence during the anti-CAA protests.
