TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee quoted MBA from unrecognised IIPM in election affidavit, summoned by Delhi court in fake degree case

A special court in Delhi has issued summons to TMC MP and Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee, directing him to appear before the court before 25th July 2019 in a case related to the fake degree. The case was filed by a Supreme Court advocate Sarthak Chaturvedi against the TMC MP from Diamond Harbour in West Bengal.

According to the petitioner Sarthak Chaturvedi, the Abhishek Banerjee had furnished wrong details about his educational qualifications in the affidavit submitted by him during elections. Sarthak has alleged that in 2014 elections, Banerjee has submitted in the affidavit that he has completed his MBA degree from a particular university which is not recognised.

According to the affidavits submitted by Banerjee during 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he obtained an MBA degree from Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM) in the year 2009. The 2019 affidavit additionally mentions “as per affiliation degree received from I.M.I., Belgium”.

Abhishek Banerjee’s 2014 affidavit

It may be noted that the notorious institute IIPM was never accredited by UGC or AICTE, and in a landmark judgement in 2014, the Delhi High Court had categorically asked IIPM to stop offering any undergraduate or postgraduate degree, and also to not use words like BBA and MBA in its advertisements as it was not authorised to issue such degrees. The Court had also ordered the institute promoted by Arindam Chaudhuri to prominently display on its website that they are not recognized by any statutory body/authority.

Abhishek Banerjee’s 2019 affidavit

IIPM had said that its degrees are from International Management Institute (IMI) in Belgium, but during investigations, it was found that IMI was set up by Chaudhuri himself and his father Malay Chaudhuri, and it was not even recognized by the laws of Belgium.

In 2015 IIPM had announced that it is closing down all its educational institutes across the country. When IIPM was operating, both UGC and AICTE had issued numerous notices warning the student community that it was not recognised by them. A notice issued by UGC last year reiterates that IIPM is not a University as per laws and it is not allowed to offer any degree including BBA, MBA and MCA.

As Banerjee’s affidavits mention that he has an MBA degree from IIPM, it is clearly an unrecognised degree according to courts and statutory organisations.

In a separate case, Abhishek Banerjee’s wife is accused of carrying 2 kg gold at Kolkata airport while returning from Thailand, which she had not declared. She even allegedly opposed and refused to allow their baggage to be searched. Purportedly, West Bengal police had intervened in the matter and prevented the customs authorities to take further actions on the instructions of Abhishek Banerjee. The Calcutta HC asked his wife to appear before the authorities. Refuting the allegations, TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee asserted that he would quit politics if any of the charges against her are proved.

Congress data analytics head takes a dig at Congress for making him a scapegoat by referring to cricket world cup

Praveen Chakravarty, the Congress party’s data analytics team head who allegedly ‘sold’ dubious data to Rahul Gandhi, has now taken a dig at critics for making him a ‘scapegoat’ for Congress’ performance in the elections. Praveen Chakravarty is also often blamed by political pundits for Congress’s disastrous performance in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

In a tweet, Praveen Chakravarty mocked the Congress leadership and critics by citing a reference to India’s defeat against New Zealand in the ICC Cricket World Cup. He claimed that despite India loss in the World Cup, nobody held the support staff responsible for it.

Chakravarty took a dig against the Congress leadership for blaming him for the loss and not the Congress President instead. With his remarks, Chakravarty has now kicked up a debate over absolving Rahul Gandhi from abdicating his responsibility. He has targetted the party leadership for intentionally making him a scapegoat for the failure of Congress leadership, particularly party president.

Shifting the blame

There has been a concerted campaign within the Congress to shield the Gandhi-scion from any criticism post-election defeat. Efforts are being done to put the blame of insignificant leaders for their disastrous performance. One of the scapegoats for Rahul Gandhi’s incompetence was Praveen Chakravarty, Congress’ Data Analytics Department’s head.

The Congress has blamed Praveen Chakravarty for misleading Rahul Gandhi by feeding him wrong information that led to the poll debacle in 2019. The Congress had suspected that Praveen Chakravarty was a mole planted by the Modi government to ensure that he fed misinformation in order to hand party a loss.

Further, the Congress leadership has found ways to insulate Rahul Gandhi from the blame game. Few of the party senior leadership has decided to resign from their party posts. Jyotiraditya Scindia, Milind Deora has already submitted their resignation by taking the bullet for Rahul Gandhi.

Crisis in Congress

After Rahul Gandhi abdicating his responsibility, Congress has started a frantic search for the party president. Even today, Rahul Gandhi signalled his intentions clear of being an opposition leader perpetually rather than taking up the mantle of leadership. This comes at a time when the party is sliding into irrelevance.

42 bonded labourers, including 16 children, rescued from two locations in Tamil Nadu

On Wednesday, 42 bonded labourers including 16 children were rescued in the state of Tamil Nadu. They were rescued from two wood cutting units in Kancheepuram and Vellore. Acting on a tip-off, the sub-collectors of both the districts visited the site on the same day.

The rescued labourers had claimed that Nataraj of Olungavadi in Kancheepuram is the one who had held them captive. He and his family had kept them under bondage for more than five years. They have been working in wooductting units across the two districts.

The labourers were subject to inhuman conditions. They weren’t fed properly and their movements were restricted. The children were prevented from going to school, despite having aspirations to study.

The tip-off was received from an NGO. A simultaneous rescue operation was conducted to ensure that everyone was safely rescued. According to a source, the bonded labourers were close relatives. The simultaneous operation was conducted to prevent leakage of information.

The operation was conducted by sub collectors A Saravanan (Kancheepuram) and Elambahavath (Ranipet). In Kancheepuram, 27 people were rescued at a wood cutting unit in Konnerikuppam village. In Vellore, 14 were rescued from a wood cutting unit at Paruvamedu village.

A picture of Kasi, one of the rescued labourers, has been shared widely on social media today. Kasi is in his late 60s. On seeing the officials he fell at their feet pleading to be rescued from bondage. He has been working for Nataraj for nearly a decade.

Reportedly, they were forced into bondage in order to repay the money that they had borrowed. The families had borrowed money ranging between Rs 9,000 and 25,000.

Last year in December, 52 Dalits and Tribals were rescued from bonded labour in Karnataka.  One of the labourers had luckily managed to escape and informed the police. Following which the police had rescued the rest of them.

If ‘Jai Shree Ram’ is a murder cry, dear BBC, what would you call ‘Allah Hu Akbar’

The Western Establishment, which BBC is a part of, loves Islam. They make very little effort to pretend otherwise. The ordinary citizen and the wayward politician might disagree but the establishment has an unholy fascination with Islam. When I say Western Establishment, I am, of course, referring to the alliance between the Global Tech Companies, multinational corporations, liberal politicians and the mainstream media.

The manner in which the mainstream media works overtime to shield Islam and Muslims from any criticism whatsoever is a dead giveaway. Consider, for example, Western media’s treatment of Hinduism in comparison with its coverage of Islamic terrorism. The BBC recently published an article where it called ‘Jai Shri Ram’ a murder cry.

BBC article

It is important to remember that Europe was ravaged by a wave of Islamic terrorism only a couple of years ago. The sword of Jihad looms large over their neck all the time. There have been numerous occasions when Jihadis have gone on a stabbing spree, killing and maiming people on the streets at will. Sometimes, they drove a truck over innocent people. On other occasions, there were mass shootings. But there was one thing that was common in all these attacks.

In every single act of such terror, the perpetrators yelled a slogan that has become the hallmark of modern terrorism. Before they committed mass murder, every single one of them screamed ‘Allah-hu-Akbar’, making it clear where their loyalties lie. Despite that, the BBC, or any other propaganda wing of the Western Establishment, has never associated that particular slogan with terrorism. And yet, the same media labels ‘Jai Shri Ram’ a murder cry.

It has become obvious in recent times that the Globalist establishment is in alliance with Radical Islam and the mainstream media is its propaganda wing. When the USA destabilized the entire Middle East, leading to the rise of ISIS, the mainstream media drummed up the delirium for war. When Barack Obama armed Radical Islamic terrorist outfits to overthrow Bashar al-Assad in Syria, the mainstream media maintained a stoic silence over it. In fact, they continued cheering for War.

When Islamic migrants rampaged through the streets of Europe sexually assaulting women, the mainstream media put in a lot of effort to suppress the matter. While Muslim grooming gangs were exploiting little girls sexually all over the West, subjecting them to inhuman torture, the media buried the matter for decades until they could no longer afford to.

The problem isn’t that the mainstream media is allying with Muslims, the problem is they are allying with the most toxic elements of Islamic society. When ex-Muslims like Ayaan Hirsi Ali expose the intolerance and cruelty that is integral to many Muslim countries around the world, the media brands them Islamophobes. When ordinary citizens give voice to their concerns regarding Islamic intolerance, the media brands them racist. It is the predominant theme in the conduct of the mainstream media over the years.

Instead, the mainstream media slanders the Hindu faith. They are aware that there will be no consequences for their bigotry. Hindus are peaceful people, by and large. The media pretends that it still has a moral spine left by kicking people who are not interested in a fight. They haven’t reported that doctors and the Police suspect that lynching was not the cause of Tabrez Ansari’s death, however, and it’s unlikely they will. Because reporting facts is not the primary objective of the mainstream media, creating narratives is.

Ever since Narendra Modi came to power, the BBC has been involved in a series of hit jobs against the government. Not too long ago, the BBC published research on Fake News that claimed Nationalism was the driving force behind the phenomenon. Ironically, the research itself was classic evidence of Fake News.

That the BBC calls ‘Jai Shri Ram’ a murder cry is not unexpected from an organization that is an ally of Radical Islam. It is only expected that such people would develop a rash on their skin when they hear chants praising Rama. If only they cared more about the little girls in their own country than what happens in India, perhaps those children wouldn’t have to suffer hell on Earth itself.

Suspended BJP MLA Pravin Singh ‘Champion’ asks for security even as state unit recommends permanent suspension for him

The suspended BJP MLA Pranav Singh Champion has requested for security cover from Dehradun police alleging threat to him and his family. In a viral video, Singh could be seen dancing on ‘Mujhko Rana ji Maaf Karna’ while brandishing guns and assault rifles.

BJP had recently suspended Singh for 3 months after he allegedly misbehaved with a journalist. Following his viral video, the BJP Uttarakhand unit has now further requested the central leadership to permanently suspend him.

Singh, in his defence said that the viral video is an intrusion in his privacy. He stated that the guns were licensed, empty and unloaded and were not pointed at anybody. He added that there was nothing wrong in dancing with the guns.

This is not the first time that Singh has been seen in viral videos brandishing guns. In the past too, BJP MLA Kunwar Pranav Singh ‘Champion’ from Uttarakhand was seen dancing to popular Bollywood songs while brandishing guns. In 2015, another dancing video of the MLA had gone viral where Pranav Singh was again seen dancing with guns in his hand. However, he was then a Congress MLA.

Singh has been at the centre of controversies. Last month, Singh was suspended from the BJP for three months as a punishment for his rowdy behaviour after he purportedly misbehaved with a journalist. It was reported that Singh was asking for the BJP MP ticket for his wife from the Haridwar Lok Sabha seat.

World Cup Semi-final Preview – Australia v England: Clash of the Titans

The oldest cricketing rivals will meet again in World Cup semi-final, but not for the first time in a World Cup knock out game. In 1987, these two teams played against each other in the finals of the World Cup at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Australia won the title for the first time, and they went to win four more, England, on the other hand, won no title, can they win this time?

Australia has been in great form despite losing their last game against South Africa at Old Trafford. They always deliver their best on the biggest stage. A few months back everyone wrote them off for World Cup favorites and on this day they are the most favorite team to win the World Cup. Although they are having an issue with injuries, they are still the favorites to win the title. Their only concern would be their middle order, just like India has not able to cope up with the top-order collapse, Australia also has an issue in this department, and it will be visible when they have to chase a modest target.

England won their last two games against the two strong teams, India and New Zealand, but they had lost to Australia in the group stage. England is to Australia what Pakistan is to India in World Cup clashes. They look strong on paper, but on the game day, something happens to them that they can’t deliver their best against the arch-rivals. Can they change history, can they win this time and reach the finals of the World Cup. All will be clear by Thursday night.

Rain is forecasted for the day, but it will be in the second half of the game as per weather reports.

Players to watch out for

David Warner (638) must be eyeing to become the highest run-scorer in a world cup edition. Its a knockout game and English bowlers would be ready to go after him. Warner needs to stay at wicket as much time as possible. The others can play around him. If he gives an excellent start to the team, Australia will have a great chance to knock out their arch-rivals.

Jofra Archer, England’s primary weapon in their bowling line up, needs to pick early wickets. Australia’s openers have always started well in the tournament, so Jofra has to break their opening partnership in the first few overs. It would put pressure on the middle order which has not done anything significant so far in this World Cup.

Mitchell Starc has taken 48 World Cup wickets and needs two more to become the second Australian player to reach the 50 wickets milestone.

Fact Check: No, the government did not ‘fudge’ revenue numbers in the union budget

There is no end to false, baseless allegations against the Modi government by a section of media and self-styled intellectuals using selective data. The latest example of the same is the allegation that there is a mismatch of revenue numbers of the central government in the union budget and the economic survey.

Lawyer-activist Prashant Bhushan went on to allege that government has fudged revenue numbers by ₹1.7 lakh crore. He was quoting a report by controversial journalist Sreenivasan Jain of NDTV, where it is alleged that the numbers do not match in the two documents produced by the same ministry in the same government.

In a report published on 9th July, NDTV had said that there is a mystery of ‘missing ₹1.7 lakh crore’ in India’s budget. The report by Jain is based on an article written by Rathin Roy, director of National Institute of Public Finance and Policy, on Business Standard on July 6. Roy is also the member of Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister. As the BS article is behind a paywall, we are using the NDTV article as a reference for everyone’s convenience.

According to the report, Rathin Roy has detected a massive anomaly in the revenue estimates shown in the Economic Survey and the Budget presented by the finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman earlier this month. Reportedly, the Budget shows government’s revenue earning as budget estimate, which is ₹17.3 lakh crore for the FY 2018-19, while the Economic Survey shows a ‘more accurate’ provisional account at ₹15.6 lakh crore. Thus, there is a mismatch of ₹1.7 lakh crore in revenue amount, a ‘shortfall’, according to the report.

But a cursory glance at both the document will show this is a mischievous baseless allegation, and there is absolutely no difference in numbers presented in the Economic Survey and the Budget.

Let’s have a look at the relevant data from both the documents.

The Revised Estimate for revenue receipts for the FY 2018-19 is 17,29,682 crore in the budget document, shown above.

Now, look at the receipt data from the Economic Survey given above. Here we can see that the numbers like actuals for 2017-18 (₹14,35,233 crore), budget and revised estimates for 2018-19 (₹17,25,738 and ₹17,29,682) match exactly with the numbers in the budget document. There is no difference in the numbers under the same columns in both documents.

But as we can see, the Economic Survey has an additional column which is not present in the budget, a PA, or Provisional Actual number. It is indeed a lesser amount, ₹15,63,170 crore, but the important fact is that it is a different data, which is not mentioned in the budget. What the Rathin Roy and Sreenivasan Jain did was compared this PA number in Economic Survey with the RE number of the budget, which is wrong and misleading. The Economic Survey already mentions the RE number, which was conveniently ignored by them.

Moreover, it is not that this Provisional Actual figure was introduced in this year’s Economic Survey, it was there in the earlier reports too. For example, here are the relevant pages from the Economic Survey of 2010-11, and the budget for 2011-12.

Economic Survey 2010-11
Budget 2010-11

If we see both the documents from earlier years, it becomes evident that the Provisional Actual numbers are always mentioned in the Economic Survey, but it is absent from the budget document. And, the PA always tends to be lower than the BE and RE numbers. Just because the PA and RE revenue numbers are different, it does not mean that there is a mismatch between budget and economic survey. The numbers under the same headings are the same in both the documents. And if the ‘mismatch’ means the government ‘fudged’ the numbers, then it was done by earlier governments also, which is, of course, a totally baseless allegation.

There is nothing new in this, but two different numbers were compared from the two documents to paint the government in a bad light.

Disappointed but you can’t rely on Rohit And Kohli all the time, says Tendulkar

Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar said he is disheartened and disappointed with India’s loss, but a team can not rely on one or two batsmen to win the matches every time.

Speaking to India Today, Sachin Tendulkar said, “I am disappointed because we should have chased 240 without any doubt. It wasn’t a big total. Yes, New Zealand got off to a dream start by picking those three wickets upfront.”

“But I feel that we can’t be all the time relying on Rohit (Sharma) to give a good start or Virat (Kohli) to come and make sure that a solid foundation is built. Players around them also will have to take more responsibility,” Tendulkar continued.

Tendulkar also questioned the tactics behind sending Dhoni so late at number 7. Tendulkar believed that Dhoni’s best position is number 5 in the middle order. Also, he said that the middle order was equipped with enough experience to tackle the situation if the top order fails.

“It’s not fair all the time to expect Dhoni to come and finish the game. He has done it time and again,” Tendulkar said.

Tendulkar also says that fans shouldn’t be harsh on players for losing the semi-final, “We cannot be so critical with one failure. We cannot forget that we won 7 out of 8 games (in the league stage). Yes, all the teams have bad games, England also lost. They lost to Sri Lanka. We can’t be harsh on our team, it is a disappointing day, but it’s a bitter pill to swallow,”

Tendulkar praised New Zealand’s bowling display and tactical moves by Kane Williamson.

“I felt Kane Williamson’s captaincy was incredible. There came a stage where New Zealand kept things simple. If you saw their fast bowlers, they didn’t try too much upfront. They just bowled in the right areas, right channels, and got those wickets.”

New Zealand will play their second World Cup final on Sunday at Lord’s.

No lessons learnt: Rahul Gandhi lies profusely the first time he speaks in Parliament after 2019 elections

Whenever the Congress party’s supremo, Rahul Gandhi speaks, the song which immediately strikes your mind is a song by Mike Jagger from the 2004 movie Alfie: “old habits die hard”. The path Rahul followed throughout the recently concluded election season was that of lies and falsities. Rahul Gandhi had turned lying almost into an art form and a force of habit.

Now, almost after two-month-long solitary confinement, Rahul, today, gave his first speech in the 17th Lok Sabha. This time again, Rahul was seen slipping back into his familiar pattern.

During his first speech in the 17th Lok Sabha, the Wayanad MP once again chose to speak about the loan waiver for farmers. A topic, which the grand old party has been advocating like the one-stop solution for all problems in the agriculture sector.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFCX0mEQcmw]

This time again Rahul Gandhi spread lies and slammed the Modi government by reiterating that Modi has waived lakhs of crore of loans of few big industrialists, while refused to waive loans of farmers. In his speech, he mentions that in the last 5 years the BJP government gave 4.3 lakh crore tax concessions and waived off 5.5 lakh crore tax for rich businessmen. He called out Modi government’s “shameful double standards”.

He asks, “why does the government act as if our farmers our inferior to the rich?” However, Rahul once again chooses to forget that most of the bad debt owed by the corporate sector are from the UPA era. In fact, the Modi government has brought in revolutionary reforms in resolving NPAs. The government had introduced the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) to resolve the issue, and it had already recovered Rs 3 lakh crores in just two years.

Firstly, Rahul Gandhi still doesn’t seem to understand the different between ‘waive off’ and ‘write off’. A ‘write off’ doesn’t mean a loan has been ‘waived’ and is liable to be recovered by the banks. It is a purely accounting term.

Read also: Don’t fall for propaganda: ‘Write off’ of loans is not ‘Loan waiver’

Secondly, many times in the past, Rahul Gandhi has repeated his lies, but interestingly, it has always been with a twist. Every time Rahul reiterates his lies, he keeps changing the amount. According to the Congress president, Modi government has waived loans of 5.50 lakh crore / 3.50 lakh crore / 3.00 lakh crore / 2.50 lakh crore / 1.50 lakh crore / 1.40 lakh crore / 1.30 lakh crore / 1.10 lakh crore owed by richest industrialists.

In November 2016, Rahul Gandhi spread lies and claimed that the Modi government had then waived off loans worth Rs 1.1 lakh crores of big industrialists. During campaigning for Gujarat assembly polls in 2017, Rahul Gandhi repeated the same trite, He inexplicably increased this figure by 20,000 Crores to Rs 1.3 lakh crores. In Karnataka, he went a step ahead and conjured up another grand figure- Rs 2.5 Lakh crores that were waived off.

After that, there has been no restriction on the amount that has been waived off for industrialists according to Rahul Gandhi, although the number of beneficiaries of this ‘waiver’ remains mostly the same, 15 richest industrialists in the country.

Meanwhile, as Gandhi scion drums into the same myth over and over again, it will be pertinent to note here that, that Anil Ambani’s Reliance Telecommunication was not given any leniency by the government in settling its dues. On the contrary, the government opposed the asset sale of Reliance Telecommunication to Jio, which would have helped the company in settling the dues. Moreover, Ambani was about to go to jail for failing to pay dues, and he was saved at the last moment by his elder brother Mukesh Ambani, who had endorsed the Congress party in these elections.

Moreover, fugitive Vijaya Mallya keeps whining that the Modi government has confiscated more assets than what is due to banks by him, which shows the extent of efforts put by the current government in recovering the corporate debt.
