SC refuses to consider a plea directing ECI to publish information on the total votes polled per booth

On Friday, the Supreme Court declined to issue any interim order on a plea by the NGO Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR). The plea sought directives for the Election Commission of India (ECI) to release final authenticated data on voter turnout at all polling stations, including the number of votes cast in the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, within 48 hours of polling.

A Vacation Bench consisting of Justices Dipankar Datta and Satish Chandra Sharma pointed out that the interim request in the current plea mirrored a request already made in a main petition pending since 2019.

“Compare prayer B of the 2019 plea with prayer A of the 2024 interim application. Previous Supreme Court decisions indicate this cannot be done, with one 1985 judgment stating it can only be done in exceptional cases. Why was this application not filed on March 16?” the Court queried.

Senior Advocate Dushyant Dave, representing ADR, responded, “We could only file after disclosures by the ECI.”

At the outset, Singh, appearing for ECI, challenged the validity of the petition filed by ADR, arguing that the issues had already been addressed in the EVM-VVPAT case judgment. Contradicting this, Dave argued that the EVM-VVPAT case dealt with post-counting issues, whereas the current petition concerns pre-counting matters.

Singh claimed that ADR’s petition was based on “unfounded suspicions” and “false allegations.” He noted that the petition, filed on May 9, did not mention the EVM-VVPAT case judgment from April 26. Referring to Article 329 of the Constitution, Singh asserted that it prevents judicial interference during the election process.

Singh also explained that the figures in the Voter Turnout App are provisional and based on secondary sources. He disputed ADR’s claim of a 6% discrepancy between the final data and the published figures, stating that the actual variance is only 1-2%.

Highlighting that the Supreme Court had questioned ADR’s credibility in the VVPAT case, Singh argued that the current petition, filed on the same day as the adverse judgment, deliberately suppressed this judgment. Singh further claimed that such petitions undermine voter turnout by continuously questioning the electoral process.

The Court, consequently, refused to grant interim relief, emphasizing the need for a non-interventionist stance during ongoing elections. “As responsible citizens, we must maintain a hands-off approach,” the bench noted.

Consequently, the Court ordered that the matter be scheduled for after the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. “Prima facie, we are not inclined to grant interim relief as prayer A of the 2019 petition is similar to prayer B of the 2024 application. List the interim plea after the summer vacation,” the Court stated.

The Court clarified that no opinion was expressed on the merits, apart from the prima facie view.

Massive landslide kills over 100 people in Papua New Guinea, access to gold mine in Porgera blocked

0

Over 100 people have died after a huge landslide struck a remote village in Papua New Guinea, reported the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).

The landslide hit Kaokalam Village in Enga Province, about 600 kilometres northwest of Port Moresby, at 3 am.

The bodies are being recovered by the villagers, ABC reported.

According to the residents, the estimate of the death toll is above 100, although authorities have not confirmed the figure yet.

Elizabeth Laruma, the president of the Porgera Women in Business Association, said that the houses were flattened when the side of a nearby mountain gave way.

“It has occurred when people were still asleep in the early hours and the entire village has gone down,” Laruma added.”From what I can presume, it’s about 100-plus people who are buried beneath the ground.”

However, it is not yet clear whether emergency services have visited the remote area, as reported by ABC News.

Ninga Role, who is from Kaokalam but is attending university in Madang, said he received news of the damage this morning.

He highlighted that according to his estimates, at least four of his relatives had been killed in the landslide.

The videos shared on social media show residents scaling huge rocks and pulling bodies from rubble and beneath trees.

“But it is difficult work”, Role stressed.

“There are some huge stones and plants, trees. The buildings (have) collapsed,” he said.

“These things are making it hard to find the bodies fast.”

Moreover, the landslide has also blocked the access road to the Porgera town, where a large gold mine is located, ABC reported.

Laruma said that people in the area were concerned about access to goods and services.

“When this road is being closed off – and I don’t know how long it’s going to take – it’s going to have a really big impact on the people out there in terms of goods, fuel and services,” she said.

“It’s going to have a big impact on the lives of the people of Porgera and the mine as well.”

She further called on the PNG government and non-governmental organisations to provide aid with immediate relief to the area.

Salman Khan hit-and-run redux: Pune Porsche killer cries foul, claims family driver was driving the car that took young couple’s life

Days after a 17-year-old killed a young couple in Pune while overspeeding in his father’s unregistered Porsche car, he has blamed his driver for the deadly accident.

As per reports, the driver had also accepted that he was behind the steering wheel on 19th May when the luxury car ran over Anish Awadhia and Ashwini Kosta.

The accused’s friends have also testified that the family driver is responsible for the accident. The police have interrogated the said driver in connection to the hit-and-run case.

The case is reminiscent of Salman Khan’s infamous hit-and-run case, which dates back to 28th September 2002. At that time, the Bollywood actor’s Toyota Land Cruiser rammed into a bakery in the Bandra area of Mumbai.

The incident killed one person named Nurullah Mehboob Sharif and injured four others who were sleeping on the pavement outside the bakery.

Salman Khan was initially charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder, drunk driving, and driving without a valid license. his defense team argued that it was his driver, Ashok Singh, who was driving the car at the time of the accident.

While a a Mumbai sessions court convicted Salman Khan of all charges, including culpable homicide, and sentenced him to five years in prison, the Bollywood actor was acquitted by the Bombay High Court in December 2015.

Throughout the legal proceedings, Salman Khan maintained that he was not driving the car at the time of the accident. His driver Ashok Singh testified that he was behind the wheel when the accident occurred. Singh claimed that the car’s tyre had burst, causing the vehicle to lose control.

Muslim portal ‘Maktoob Media’ tear-jerks about Rohingya illegals in India, bats for their citizenship even as they persecute Hindus, pose national security threat: Details

Maktoob Media, a website which focuses on creating a false narrative of Muslim victimhood on the 24th of May shared a video where they spoke to illegal Rohingya Muslims living in India. The video aimed to show how Rohingya Muslims deserve citizenship in India just like CAA extended expedited citizenship to those minorities persecuted in neighbouring Muslim-majority countries.

In the video, illegal Rohingya Muslims are talking about how they are losing hope that they will get citizenship in India. Playing victim, they say that they had fled “persecution” in Myanmar and come to India hoping they would get citizenship, but that dream seems to have shattered.

They further say that citizenship is essential for any individual, whether in India or Myanmar or anywhere. Because when one has citizenship, they can get jobs and amenities. One illegal Rohingya Muslim in the video says that because they don’t have citizenship, it is difficult for them to avail of benefits. He says that whenever he goes for a job interview or even to buy a SIM card, he is asked for his ID card and since he is not a citizen, he has trouble availing such facilities.

Maktoob Media has often been caught peddling anti-Hindu lies and regularly defends Islamists indulging in violence against non-Muslims.

While Maktoob Media is trying to tear-jerk and also further the false narrative against CAA, what one of the illegal migrants said in the video is accurate – citizenship is critical. It indeed is critical and therefore, citizenship is a privilege and not a right. Every country has to right to refuse citizenship to those who cross their borders illegally and set rules and regulations for acquiring citizenship. In fact, any country is well within its right to even set requirements for acquiring citizenship and also evaluate the threat perception of granting citizenship to an individual or a group of people.

In 2019, Amit Shah had clearly stated that Rohingya Muslims would never be granted citizenship in India. Home Minister Amit Shah also pointed out that India had not ratified any international convention on refugees and as such, international laws on refugees were not binding upon India as a sovereign country. He also said that India had never accepted any refugee policy.

It is important to remember here that India is not a party to the 1951 Convention on Refugees and neither the 1967 Protocol. Therefore, no international convention is binding on India. Even if we take into account the international conventions, the Rohingyas are clearly bypassing a safe haven in the form of Bangladesh to reach India for the purpose of gaining material benefits. Thus, quite clearly, it makes them economic migrants when they enter India and not persecuted minorities.

It is pertinent to understand that giving Rohingya Muslims citizenship comes with dangers that India must not succumb to.

In May 2015 a JSTOR research paper titled ‘Myanmar at the crossroads: Shadows of jihadi extremism’ informed about the upsurge flow of jihadi extremist ideology in Muslims of Myanmar aided by the network of terrorist organisations. The study mentioned the harsh sectarian conflict in Myanmar along with threats posed by local insurgent groups, including the probability that these groups might attempt to link up with jihadist terrorist groups like ISIS. JSTOR highlighted the emerging dangers deriving from the intensification of the use of social media networks by jihadist extremists to expand their influence and spread their caliphate ideology.

Along with this, in December 2016 a Crisis group paper reported the rise of a ‘new Muslim insurgency in the Rakhine state’ citing based on developments including militant attacks on Myanmar security forces on 9th October and 12th of November, 2016. The report called it violence ‘qualitatively different from anything in recent decades’ which, it added, ‘seriously threatens the prospects of stability and development in the state and has serious implications for Myanmar as a whole.’  Since 9 October, several hundred young Rohingya men from Bangladesh have joined the fight. However, the main fighting force is made up of Muslim villagers in northern Rakhine State who have been given basic training and organised into village-level cells to limit risks of compromise. These are mostly led by young Islamic clerics (known as “Mullahs” or “Maulvis”) or scholars (“Hafiz”) from those villages.

The Rohingyas – who are revered in India by the liberal, commie, Islamist brigade as innocent and hapless – are just another group of veiled jihadis who, at the right opportunity, would massacre every non-Muslim in their path. The quintessential practical example of this vindictive nature of Rohingyas is the recent massacre of innocent Hindus in Myanmar in 2017. Amnesty International in 2018 reported that the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) – the militant terrorist wing of Rohingyas – massacred up to 99 Hindu women, men, and children as well as additional unlawful killings and abductions of Hindu villagers in August 2017.

Based on dozens of interviews conducted there and across the border in Bangladesh, as well as photographic evidence analysed by forensic pathologists, the organisation revealed how Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) fighters sowed fear among Hindus and other ethnic communities with these brutal attacks.

At around 8 am on 25 August 2017, ARSA attacked the Hindu community in the village of Ah Nauk Kha Maung Seik, in a cluster of villages known as Kha Maung Seik in northern Maungdaw Township. Armed men dressed in black and local Rohingya villagers in plain clothes rounded up dozens of Hindu women, men and children. They robbed, bound, and blindfolded them before marching them to the outskirts of the village, where they separated the men from the women and young children. A few hours later, the ARSA fighters killed 53 of the Hindus, execution-style, starting with the men.

Eight Hindu women and eight of their children were abducted and spared after ARSA fighters forced the women to agree to “convert” to Islam. The survivors were forced to flee with the fighters to Bangladesh several days later, before being repatriated to Myanmar in October 2017 with the support of the Bangladeshi and Myanmar authorities.

Bina Bala, a 22-year-old woman who survived the massacre, told Amnesty International:

“[The men] held knives and long iron rods. They tied our hands behind our backs and blindfolded us. I asked what they were doing. One of them replied, ‘You and Rakhine are the same, you have a different religion, you can’t live here. He spoke the [Rohingya] language. They asked what belongings we had, then they beat us. Eventually, I gave them my gold and money.”

According to a detailed list of the dead, given to Amnesty International, the victims from Ah Nauk Kha Maung Seik include 20 men, 10 women, and 23 children, 14 of whom were under the age of eight. This is consistent with multiple testimonies the organisation gathered in both Bangladesh and Myanmar, from survivors and witnesses as well as Hindu community leaders.

The same day, all of the 46 Hindu men, women, and children in the neighbouring village of Ye Bauk Kyar disappeared. Members of the Hindu community in northern Rakhine State presume the community was killed by the same ARSA fighters. Combined with those from Ah Nauk Kha Maung Seik, the total death toll is believed to be 99.

The bodies of 45 people from Ah Nauk Kha Maung Seik were unearthed in four mass graves in late September 2017. The remains of the rest of the victims from that village, as well as all 46 from Ye Bauk Kyar, have not been found to date.

The bone-chilling report unearthed the dark hatred against Hindus in the minds of Rohingyas and gave voice to the dead. The dead man tells no tales as they say but they certainly tell about the killer who killed them. Dead Hindus of Rakhine are the testimony to the extent of extremism and terrorism Rohingyas can reach.

In fact, there are several research papers and reports that also point towards Rohingya Muslims’ links to Pakistani terror outfits and ISIS.

Days before the Maktoob Media tear-jerker, Rohingya Muslims had burnt 5,000 houses of Hindus and Buddhists in Myanmar

Less than a month ago, Rohingya Muslims had yet again persecuted Hindus and Buddhists in Myanmar. Tensions escalated into communal violence, with reports indicating that nearly 5,000 houses belonging to Buddhists and Hindus were destroyed in Buthidaung, located just 25 km from the Bangladesh border.

“These 5,000 houses were targeted because they belonged to Buddhists and Hindus. Many residents had fled to safer areas, leaving houses empty, but those who remained were forcibly removed, and their homes were looted and burned before their eyes. Conscripts, including young boys from Rohingya camps in Bangladesh, were used for this operation,” a source revealed.

The destruction occurred between April 11th and 21st 2024. Buthidaung is now under the control of the ethnic rebel group Arakan Army.

With the long history of violence against Hindus, it would be foolish for India to grant citizenship to Rohingya Muslims. CAA is a specific law aimed to right historical wrongs. India was partitioned based on religion and while India held up to its bargain of taking care of its minorities, neighbouring Islamic countries have regularly persecuted Hindus, Jains, Buddhists, Parsis and Christians. The CAA aimed to merely provide expedited citizenship to those minorities of Islamic nations who took refuge in India before 2014. The CAA does not affect the citizenship rights of Indian Muslims, however, platforms like Maktoob Media have played a significant role in disseminating misinformation about CAA, which eventually led to the Delhi anti-Hindu Riots of 2020.

Telangana: Statue of Saint Kanaka Dasa installed by Hindus on private land forcibly removed by Muslims in Gattu Mandal

In Gorlakhandoddi, Gattu Mandal of Telangana, Muslims forcibly removed a statue of Saint Kanaka Haridas, as reported by Organiser. The statue, which was set to be unveiled on May 22, was installed on private land in Jogulamba Gadwal district in Telangana.

As per the report, devotees of the Kuruwa community revere Saint Kanakadas as their family deity. On the day of the unveiling ceremony, the community was doing Puja since 4 am. However, some local Muslims arrived at around 7 am in the middle of the ceremonies and forcibly removed the statue.

The local Hindus say that the statue was installed on a private plot of land with all proper documentation, and ownership papers in place. However, some Muslim families in the village opposed it, claiming the statue would obstruct the access path to their houses. The complainants say that there is a road on 2 sides for the houses of the Muslims, but still, they oppose the statue, adding that their main objection was for the installation of a ‘Hindu idol’ near their homes.

The local Hindus have named Mohammad, Mabusaab, Imam, Ranju, and Nawab as accused. The local Hindus have also alleged that the administration is surprisingly siding with the Muslims on the issue. The village has 20-25 Muslim families living alongside 800 other families, as per the Organiser report.

Reacting to the incident, Dr. Shashidhar, joint secretary of Vishwa Hindu Parishad Telangana, said, “The act by Muslims of Gorlakhandoddi is condemnable and state police must arrest and punish the culprits. Every day,  the hate crimes initiated by Muslims are increasing, and it seems that the state Congress government is silently supporting these radical Muslims, who are found to be aggressors.

Shri Kanaka Dasa, initially known as Thimappa Nayaka, was born in present-day Karnataka in the days of the Vijayanagara Empire. He was a prominent figure among the saints of the Bhakti movement in the 16th century. He is a revered figure among many South Indian communities. Hindus and is celebrated for his spiritual, and literary contributions to the culture.

‘Long live Naxalbari’, ‘Boycott elections’: Anti-nationals desecrate walls of Lady Shri Ram College, call for ‘revolution’ to undermine Indian democracy

On Thursday (23rd May), anti-national elements vandalised the Lady Shri Ram College for Women (LSR) in Delhi and desecrated its walls with pro-Naxal slogans.

In visuals shared by popular political commentator Anshul Saxena, it could be seen that the accused wrote “Ek hi Rsta Naxalbari”, “Naxalbari hasn’t and will never die”, and “Long Live Naxalbari” on the walls of the prestigious college of the Delhi University.

The anti-nationals also called for undermining the ongoing democratic electoral process and creating anarchy in the country through ‘revolution.’

Interestingly, the development coincides with the killing of at least 7 Naxalites in an encounter with the security forces on the inter-district border of Narayanpur and Bijapur districts in Chhattisgarh.

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) have condemned the incident and filed a police complaint at the Maurice Nagar station.

The members of the student organisation called for immediate removal of the anti-national grafitti and strict action against those involved in the desecration of Lady Shri Ram College for Women (LSR).

In November last year, the college courted controversy after it organised ‘Jashan-e-Abha’ festival in place of Diwali on its campus.

‘We should have taken Kartarpur Sahib back from Pakistan in exchange for 90,000 of their soldiers after 1971 war’: PM Modi in Punjab

Launching a scathing attack at Congress at his rally in Patiala, Punjab, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that if had he been the PM of the country at the time of the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971, he would have reclaimed Kartarpur Sahib from Pakistan in return for the release of Pakistani soldiers.

“At the time of the Bangladesh War, we had 90,000 soldiers of Pakistan. The ‘Hukum ka Ikka’ was in our hands. If Modi had been there at that time, I would have taken Kartarpur Sahib from them and then released their soldiers. Still, I got Kartarpur Sahib Corridor built,” he said.

PM Modi also mentioned that he brought the Citizenship Amendment Act to give citizenship to oppressed people, not for votes.

“For the INDIA alliance, the biggest goal is to appease their vote bank. Modi is giving Indian citizenship under CAA law to Dalit and Sikh brothers and sisters suffering from partition. These people (INDI alliance) oppose CAA, organized riots in the name of CAA and even today they say that if their government comes, they will cancel CAA. You tell me, is it wrong to give Indian citizenship to the Sikhs who were victims of partition?” he asked.

PM Modi said that ‘Panja’ and ‘Jhaadu’ are two parties but from the same shop.

Addressing a public meeting here today, PM Modi said that those who betrayed their gurus cannot develop Punjab.

“In Punjab, Delhi’s ‘Kattar’ corrupt party and another party which is guilty of Sikh riots are pretending to contest against each other. But the truth is, that ‘Panja’ and ‘Jhaadu’ are two parties but they are from the same shop. ‘Kuch bhi bayaan dein, lekin Delhi mein ek doosre ko kandhe pe utha kar naach rahe hain’ (‘They may make any statement, but in Delhi they are dancing carrying each other on their shoulders’). I request to the people of Punjab, to stay alert from them. Those who can betray their Guru Anna Hazare, can lie 10 times in a day. Neither can such people develop Punjab, nor they can leave anything for the future of your children,” PM Modi said.

“Ram Temple was built in Ayodhya but they (INDI alliance) hate everything which respects our faith. INDI alliance people are extremely communal, casteist and family-based. They can betray anyone for power. This same Congress divided the country for power, due to which we were not able to visit Kartarpur Sahib for 70 years,” PM Modi added.

Sharpening his attacks on Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, the Prime Minister termed him as ‘Kagzi’ chief minister.

“Whether it is national security, protecting culture and heritage or the country’s development, the Punjab and Sikh community has always been at the forefront. From farming to industrialism, the people of Punjab have given their contribution. But what have ‘Kattar’ corrupts done to Punjab? Business and industry are migrating from here, and the drug industry is flourishing. The orders of the state government don’t work here, the will of the drug mafias, soil mining mafia and shooter gang works. The government is running on loan. The ‘Kagazi’ (paper) CM has no time but to mark his attendance in Delhi,” PM Modi said.

He further highlighted that Punjab knows that it should not waste its vote and vote for the one who will form the government, vote for the one who is committed to making a developed Punjab, who is committed to making developed India.

“Our government exempted langar from tax. Earlier, devotees from foreign countries were not able to give donations in Shri Harmandir Sahib. We relaxed the rules for this. Sri Fatehgarh Sahib has been a witness to the bravery and martyrdom of Sahibzada. This is the Modi government, which declared Veer Bal Diwas dedicated to the bravery of Sahibzadas. Our Sikh families were in trouble in Afghanistan. We brought everyone back safely. We also brought the forms of Guru Granth Sahib with respect,” PM Modi asserted.

“This is BJP, which gives priority to farmer welfare. In the last 10 years, there was a record purchase of wheat and paddy from Punjab. In 10 years we increased MSP two and a half times,” he added.

‘Its release will be your last day’: Islamists with links to SDPI issue ISIS-style beheading threats to the crew of movie “Hamare Baarah”

The first teaser of “Hamare Baarah” directed by Kamal Chandra was recently released. It presented a bold narrative and shed light on the challenges endured by Muslim women as they are relegated to the stature of inferior beings and treated similarly to baby-making machines in their households, in the name of religion, captivated audiences and created significant buzz among the audience. However, it has miffed the extremists who have retorted issuing threats of beheadings to intimidate the film’s director Kamal Chandra and actors Annu Kapoor and Aditi Dhiman.

A netizen named “Error 404” posted several such threats and requested Mumbai Police and Thane Police to take immediate action.

The followers of radical Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan which was founded by the late Khadim Hussain Rizvi and Indian extremist Mufti Salman Azhari are using social media, particularly Instagram, to threaten the filmmakers with death. Videos depicting brutal beheadings akin to those carried out by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) accompanied by Islamic hymns and verses were shared to warn the artists. These users which are located in Mumbra of Maharashtra’s Thane district and have ties with the Social Democratic Party of India which is the political wing of the outlawed Popular Front of India (PFI).

Muslims are being provoked to take action against Annu Kapoor and other people associated with the movie and ‘show them their place’. Additionally, they have posted videos including Islamic slogans and gun sounds. The movie producer’s phone number has also been made public and the fundamentalists have been threatening to kill him over WhatsApp.

The radicals even posted footage of actual beheadings with ISIS flags and “Allah hu Akbar” to instil fear in the hearts of the cast and crew and warned that the director would meet the same fate if the movie was released. The pictures of the makers of the film have been edited to use in such clips. Cyberattacks have been threatened against Zee Music for the movie trailer. The film producer’s phone number, email address, IP address, MAC address and tower details have all been leaked by these radicals on Instagram. They are disseminating private details in mass to conduct online raids.

What is Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan

Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan is an extremist outfit-turned-political party in the Islamic Republic which was founded in August 2015 by the late Khadim Hussain Rizvi who was infamous for dehumanising non-Muslims and even comparing them to faecal matter in his speeches. An ardent fanboy of Mahmud Ghaznavi, he even justified attacks on temples and cheered the desecration of temples and idols.

His religious group is notorious for its violent protests and rioting in Pakistan over perceived slights to Islam or the Prophet Muhammad. He orchestrated large-scale protests in 2017 that resulted in 200 injuries and at least six fatalities. The agitation was organised in response to a minor change to the oath taken by candidates in elections involving a declaration that revolved around Prophet Muhammad. This change was interpreted as benefiting the persecuted Ahmadi sect. The Pakistani administration swiftly reversed its decision, citing a “clerical error,” after sensing outrage from the people. The demonstrations persisted and were only put to an end when the law minister of the time tendered his resignation.

The TLP organized rallies under his direction in response to the Pakistani Supreme Court’s acquittal of Asia Bibi. She spent eight years on execution row after being wrongfully accused of blasphemy. Afterwards, Khadim Hussain Rizvi was arrested and charged with sedition and treason. The Dutch politician Geert Wilders had been the target of demonstrations by the Islamic cleric because he had announced a “Prophet Muhammad cartoon competition.” Furthermore, he called for the termination of all diplomatic ties with the Netherlands and the removal of the Dutch ambassador from the nation. 2020 witnessed him leading the charge against France in response to the release of Prophet Mohammed cartoons by the satirical French magazine Charlie Hebdo.

Islamists on both sides of the border adhere to the fundamentalist teachings of his and his organisation. “Gustakh-e-Rasool ki ek hee saza Sar tan se juda Sar tan se juda,” which often reverberates in the streets of India during protests, especially the one against former Bharatiya Janata Party’s spokesperson Nupur Sharma, is also coined by his outfit.

Who is Mufti Salman Azhar

Mufti Salman Azhari grabbed the headlines earlier this year for his inflammatory and extremist speeches. He was heard threatening, “It was a Masjid and it will always remain a Masjid for us. We are facing the heat today, but one day they (Hindus) will face the heat of their decision,” in a rally in Maharashtra’s Jalna district just days before the inauguration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. He further stated, “A day will come when people will solely follow Islam and no other religion. We are struggling. Increase our power to such a level that no one will ever be able to trouble us. Aaj kutto ka waqt hai kal hamara ayega (Now these dogs are celebrating, tomorrow we will celebrate),” as he compared the Hindu community to dogs.

The police took notice and filed a case at the Junagadh B Division Police Station as soon as the videos of his divisive statement went viral online. A large group of fanatical Muslims also assembled outside the Ghatkopar police station when a Gujarati police squad arrived in Ghatkopar, Mumbai and apprehended him.

“Hamare Baarah” venture featuring a stellar cast including Annu Kapoor, Ashwini Kalsekar, and Manoj Joshi in prominent roles is set to release on 7th June next month. It recently premiered at the prestigious 77th Cannes Film Festival. It was initially called “Hum Do Humare Baraah” but the name was changed as per a directive by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

Cheer haran mera us ghar mein hua aur ab Charitra haran roz ho raha hai: Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal on the assault on her inside Arvind Kejriwal’s house

Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal on Thursday alleged that her “Cheer haran” happened in the house of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on May 13 adding that now her “character assassination” is being done every day after the assault incident. In an exclusive interview with ANI, Swati Maliwal said that after the assault case, she felt betrayed and let down.

“I am feeling very betrayed right now, by everyone, whatever I am feeling right now, I just wish that God forbid anyone ever feels like this. I have lost everything. With people I worked with, I sat with them…. What they have not done to scare me, ‘Cheer Haran mera uss ghar mein hua aur Charitra Haran mera roz chalaya jaa raha hai’ (my character assassination is being done every day). I am unable to understand how this happened and why this happened. How can one be treated so badly? I feel very betrayed, I feel very let down,” she said.

Reacting to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s statement that he supports ‘free and fair police investigation, Maliwal said that the party has convicted her and found her “guilty.”

“They conducted an out-of-court trial and I was found guilty. The party is trying to convict me, so how can they say that there should be a free and fair investigation? I made only one call and one complaint, after that I remained silent for so many days because I wanted a free and fair investigation. Every day some doctored video, some doctored CCTV footage is shown, they sometimes say I am an agent of BJP, does character assassination, threatens me, then how will there be a free and fair investigation?” she said.

When asked if she expected any support from Sunita Kejriwal and Delhi minister Atishi, AAP Rajya Sabha MP said that she feels very ‘sad’ adding that every woman should stand with another woman.

“Aaj mere sath hua hai kal pata nahi kiske sath hoga’…Today I have shown courage to fight against such powerful people. But yes, it is true that I am completely alone. I feel very sad. I believe that every woman should stand with women…My career is over, I am ruined. In such a situation, why would I lie? At such a time, the women of AAP are not standing with me, which makes me feel very bad,” Maliwal said.

Following the assault allegations levelled by Aam Aadmi Party MP Swati Maliwal against a former aide of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena said that the silence of the AAP chief on this matter shows his stance about the issue of the safety of women.

A case was filed against Bibhav Kumar and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed to investigate the case based on Maliwal’s complaint. Bibhav was arrested by the Delhi Police on Sunday, May 19, and is currently in police custody.
