Does Times of India want Hindus to be killed by Islamists without a defence so that ‘peace’ can be maintained? What they wrote

The nation is going through a tumultuous period with Islamists getting emboldened and issuing threats to anyone who does not conform to their worldview. After the barrage of death and rape threats to Nupur Sharma for over a month now, the Islamists have started beheading and threatening those who support Nupur Sharma. The beheading of Kanhaiya Lal shocked the nation as the two Islamists released videos of not only their post-murder gloating but also a video of the beheading itself.

Soon after Kanhaiya Lal was beheaded, it was discovered that another Hindu man, Umesh Kolhe was also beheaded for supporting Nupur Sharma. Several people since then have received beheading threats for social media posts in support of Nupur Sharma and Kanhaiya Lal. In fact, it was also discovered that much before the murder of Lal, a family had fled Nagpur after getting constant death threats for their support to Nupur Sharma.

While all of this was unfolding, two Supreme Court judges extended their jurisdiction and passed problematic statements against Nupur Sharma. They blamed her “loose tongue” for the murder of Kanhaiya Lal and said she should apologise to the nation. Essentially, the Supreme Court blamed the murderous actions of the Islamists on the innocuous words of Nupur Sharma in a TV debate.

VHP and Bajrang Dal, which have been the frontline defence for Hindus, took cognisance of the violence by Islamists and said that if any Hindus received such death threats, they should not be scared and contact the police immediately. They further said that Hindus should also contact their local Bajrang Dal units for assistance.

“We urge the Hindus that they need not feel threatened by the anti-national and evil forces that are issuing life threats to them. If they still face any difficulty, they should contact the local Bajrang Dal volunteers,” VHP added that it will soon release helpline numbers for all states.

This statement was made while VHP decried the statements by the Supreme Court judges and said that in their observations (which did not make it to the written order), the Judges had ignored the threat of radical Islam. VHP’s working president sarcastically remarked that the Supreme Court had essentially made us all aware that 1400 years of Islamic onslaught was the fault of Nupur Sharma, according to the Times of India report.

Essentially, there is absolutely nothing wrong with what VHP said. Like any responsible social organisation, VHP asked those getting death threats to contact their local police and ensure that their file complaints. This is the right of any citizen – to approach the police when barbarians threaten them with beheading.

Further, they said that if they still face any difficulty, they should contact local Bajrang Dal units. What could those difficulties be? One would imagine they are talking about instances where the police refuse to take cognisance of their plight, like in the case of Kanhaiya Lal. One has to remember that when Kanhaiya Lal was getting death threats, the Rajasthan police refused to file a case and instead, made him get into a “settlement” with the Islamists. Only a few days later, he was beheaded.

In such a situation, when the state administration fails to protect a Hindu being threatened, one has to call leaders of the community to ensure that pressure is built. The other scenario could possibly be when there is a mob outside someone’s house and the police administration does paltry little. These are realities that one cannot escape given that there are plenty of instances where such things are known to happen.

Times of India, however, was not happy. In their Print version, they prefaced this news with a sentence that indicates that they want Hindus to simply give up without a fight and get killed by Islamists simply to maintain “peace”.

On the first page of their Delhi print edition for 7th July 2022, Times of India says that the decision by VHP, to ask Bajrang Dal to protect those who were getting death threats for supporting Nupur Sharma, could “escalate tensions”.

Times of India thinks VHP, Bajrang Dal, helping those who get death threats for supporting Nupur Sharma could 'escalate tension'
Screenshot of Times of India e-paper

Essentially, according to the Times of India, any Hindu organisation supporting those who are getting death threats by Islamists could “escalate tension”. It is not a stretch of logic to assume that the Times of India wants Hindus to be helpless in front of Jihadis so that the fragile peace between communities can be maintained.

If they think that VHP and Bajrang Dal protecting those who are getting death threats could escalate tensions, they are in essence saying that those Hindus should not get any protection and left to the mercy of those threatening them, so that “tensions” don’t escalate.

What are these “tensions” that the Times of India seems to be talking about? The fact that Islamists would become violent if Hindu organisations start protecting those getting threats? Or the fact that Islamists may indulge in more rampant and random violence on the streets if they are denied the opportunity and access to behead whoever they want?

In the actual article about this published on page 16 of Times of India, there is no mention of the “escalation of tension” that Times of India seems to be worried about on page 1.

Times of India thinks VHP, Bajrang Dal, helping those who get death threats for supporting Nupur Sharma could 'escalate tension'
Report by Times of India

In the digital copy of the report as well, there is no mention of the “escalating tension” that Times of India believes in, however, on the very first page of their print edition, they mention that one innocuous line that reveals what they think should be a Hindus’ conduct while dealing with death threats by those who are known to act on their murderous instincts.

‘Muslim mother cannot be the child’s guardian’: Read how Kerala High Court kept sharia above constitution because of previous SC judgments

On Wednesday, the Kerala High Court said that it was bound by the precedents from the Supreme Court to observe that a Muslim woman cannot be the guardian of her minor child and the property. Though there is no bar in Quran or Hadith on a Muslim woman’s right to be a child’s guardian, the Court said that it was bound to follow the law as interpreted by the apex court under Article 141 of the Constitution.

According to the reports, the Court was hearing the appeal filed by C Abdul Aziz of Kallai, Kozhikode, and 12 others who were represented by Advocate KM Firoz. The bench of Justice PB Suresh and Justice CS Sudha noted that the Muslim personal law prevents Muslim women from being guardians to their minor children but it stands void when discussed with articles 14 (equality) and 15 (discrimination) of the Indian Constitution. However, the Court is bound by the precedents set by the apex court, it reiterated.

It also added that there were several previous judgments delivered by the Supreme Court in which it had categorically held that a Muslim woman cannot be a guardian of her minor children. “It is no doubt true that in this modern age, women have scaled heights and have slowly but steadily stormed several male bastions. As pointed out, many Islamic countries or Muslim-dominated countries have women as their heads of state. Women have been part of expeditions to space too…Be that as it may, this court is bound by the decisions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court,” the Court said.

The appellant meanwhile argued referring to the Hadith, and said that the woman was recognized as the guardian of her husband’s property as well. They said that there was nothing in the Quran or Hadith that prohibited a woman from being a guardian of her son or his property. They also added that Hadiths were never considered in any of the judgments of the Supreme Court in this regard.

On the other hand, the respondents stated that neither the Quran nor the Hadith says that a mother can be the guardian and in fact, several verses of the Quran have stated otherwise. The Court stated that though Quran did not specifically mention that a mother cannot be the guardian, it was not up to the Court to interpret the same, especially in the light of the view taken by the Supreme Court.

Further, the Court referring to the Shayara Bano case, said that the Shariat Act is the only law that applies to Muslims in the matters stated in section 2 of the act which includes Guardianship.

The petition was filed over a partition deed in which a Muslim mother acted as a legal guardian of her son’s property. The Kerala High Court observed that the parties were bound by the partition contract but denied considering the mother as a rightful guardian.

‘PFI’s agenda is to create law and order problems across the country’: Telangana police nab 3 terrorists for running radicalisation, weapons training camps

On Wednesday, July 6, the Nizamabad police in Telangana apprehended three Popular Front of India (PFI) members involved in training the Muslim youths in anti-national activities. The accused have been identified as Shaik Shadullah (40), Mohammad Imran (22) and Mohammad Abdul Mobin (27).

The trio has been booked under Section 120-A (criminal conspiracy by two or more persons), 120-B (criminal conspiracy for serious offence), 153-A (promoting enmity between two different groups) and 141 (unlawful assembly) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Section 13(1)(b) of the Unlawful Activities (Preventions) Act – 1967 has also been invoked against the accused.

According to reports, the three PFI members were nabbed from the residence of one Shadullah in the Gundaram area in Nizamabad town. The trio was residing in Nizamabad while posing as small-time labourers like wielding mechanics, but their prime objective was to identify gullible Muslim youths, radicalise them with Sharia law, and then recruit them for anti-national activities, according to Nizamabad Commissioner of Police KR Nagaraju.

One of the accused admitted to the police during questioning that the PFI was seeking to indoctrinate the local Muslim youths with Sharia law and Islamic fundamentalism in order to recruit them into anti-national activities. He also admitted that the group had been conducting workshops to teach Muslims how to use deadly weapons and martial arts with the primary goal of recruiting them to wage jihad in the state.

The arrested also confessed that similar workshops regarding legal matters were being conducted along with physical training by PFI members in Nizamabad, Jagitial, Hyderabad, Nellore, Kurnool and Kadapa.

Telangana police arrest another PFI member involved in arms training

The arrest of the three PFI members came after the Telangana police apprehended a 54-year-old karate instructor, Abdul Qader from the Autonagar area of the town. Qader was nabbed two days ago.

“The three accused arrested today admitted that they had engaged Qader for providing training to the gullible Muslim youth from the two Telugu states in various martial arts and use of lethal weapons,” K R Nagaraju said.

According to the police commissioner, the three accused lured Qader into the PFI by offering him money, including 6 lakhs for the building of his home.

In the last three years, Qader had trained more than 200 Muslim youths in karate, Kung Fu and use of lethal weapons on the upper portion of his residence, the police commissioner said.

Acting on a tip-off, the Nizamabad police raided Qader’s house. During the search, the police found banners of the PFI, bamboo batons, nun-chucks, stationery, reading material and books, an audio system, and several bus and train tickets in his house. All the materials were seized and Qader was apprehended.

“Though there have been no PFI activities in the state till now, the latest arrests have revealed that the organisation is trying to expand its footprints in the state gradually,” Nagaraju said.

The Nizamabad police have also filed a case against all the 200 Muslim youths accused of taking part in training camps held by Qader last year. Sources said the police teams are attempting to apprehend numerous people who had attended the PFI camp.

Sufi Islamic Board says the Popular Front of India operates on instructions of Al-Qaeda

It may be recalled that in May 2022, the Sufi Islamic Board, which has been relentless in exposing the Popular Front of India (PFI), once again reiterated its demand to ban the radical Islamic organisation, saying that the PFI is operating on the instructions of the terrorist organisation Al-Qaeda.

Earlier, in December 2020, Sufi Islamic Board had also alleged that the PFI is backed by terrorist organisations and is running ‘schools’ to radicalise Muslim youths to carry out jihad. In addition, the Sufi Islamic Board had said that the PFI was misleading the Muslim youths through its political wing Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI).

Rajasthan: Police officer who coached Ajmer Dargah’s Khadim to say he was drunk removed from his post, was caught on camera telling the accused to lie

On July 7, Ajmer’s Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sandeep Saraswat has been removed from the post Awaiting Post Orders (Line Hazir). The action against him was taken by the authorities after his video emerged on social media coaching Salman Chishti, Khadim of Ajmer Dargah to say he was drunk while making the video threatening former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Nupur Sharma.

DSP coached Salman Chishti to say he was drunk

In the video that went viral on July 6, the Ajmer Police were seen arresting Salman Chishti from his house. While taking Chishti out of his house, someone from the police said “What exactly you were high on, while recording the video?” As the video proceeds, Salman Chishti is heard saying that he does not drink and does not take drugs. At this moment a police officer, now identified as DSP Sandeep Saraswat, said, “Say that you were drunk so that it will be easy to save you.”

The video was shared by a BJP leader who said, “Releasing a Proof of Ashok Gehlot’s Anti Hindu Face. Salman Chisti who issued a bounty on Nupur Sharma’s head said “Mai Nasha nahi Karta” Rajasthan Police ‘Bol Nashe me tha, taaki bachaya jae’.

In another video, the accused Chishti is seen being welcomed by a group of people and police personnel. Someone in the background says, “befikr reh, sab baat ho gayi hai” (stay relaxed, all has been arranged).

After Chishty was arrested, the Rajasthan police released a statement insisting that he was in an inebriated state when he made the threat video.

Chishti announced to give his house as a bounty for killing Nupur Sharma

A few days ago, a video of Salman Chishti went viral on social media where he announced a bounty for killing Nupur Sharma and offered his house to anyone who brought Sharma’s head. Chishti, who is a history-sheeter, has multiple cases filed against him including murder and attempt to murder.

Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri narrates how The Quint ran a hit job against his ‘Humanity Tour’, tried to get Kashmir Files movie branded as ‘Islamophobic’

On July 6, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri shared a series of Tweets narrating how a hit-job was run against the ‘Humanity Tour’ that he had organised recently. In his tweet, Agnihotri wrote, “EXPOSÉ ALERT: GENOCIDE-DENIER and HINDUPHOBIC propaganda site The Quint tried to do a sinister HIT-JOB on me but fell flat on their face. Here is an example. We used to ignore these fake FACT-CHECKERS, but true patriotism is to expose and defeat these anti-national #UrbanNaxals FOs.”

In his tweet, Agnihotri shared an email sent by Quint journalist Abhilash Mallick to Global Human Rights Defence in Hague, Netherland, where one of the events of Humanity Tours was scheduled. The Humanity Tour happened between May 28 to June 26 this year.

Quint’s email to GHRD

In his mail, Mallick identified himself as a fact-checker with Quint and added a link to social media post by Agnihotri where the venues of the events of the Humanity Tour were mentioned. Calling the film The Kashmir Files’ islamophobic’, Mallick said, “Agnihotri has recently made a movie called The Kashmir Files, which was about the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Kashmir Valley in the 1990s. However, the film has also faced much criticism, with some saying that it ignored facts and is Islamophobic. He has been on a trip titled “Humanity Tour”, where he has visited multiple venues in UK and Germany with his movie. At least two venues have denied inviting him, while another claimed to have no information about the event.”

Mallick claimed that two venues had denied inviting him and one venue denied information about the event, to which Vivek said it was a lie. He also shared a reply to Mallick sent by a GHRD official, where he provided complete information about the event that took place at the said venue.

Reply by GHRD

The letter reads, “GHRD is aware of the criticisms directed at Agnithori and his film The Kashmir Files – we strongly reject these criticisms. It is evident that there is an ongoing mass genocide of Kashmiri Pandits that Indian institutions and media outlets continue to neglect.”

It further added the details of the screening of the film hosted by the European Kashmiri Pandit Community (EKPC), including a panel discussion and reception in The Hague on June 17, 2022. It read, “The event was hosted in collaboration with GHRD and also included contributions from Mr Marco Respinti (a renowned Italian journalist who is Director-In-Charge of the magazine Bitter Winter). A total of 5 Ambassadors to The Netherlands were in attendance. GHRD stands with Kashmiri victims, and resents critiques of Mr Agnithori’s film – the massacre MUST be addressed.”

Furthermore, Vivek also quoted a tweet from June 21, where he had shared a video of the event in the Netherlands, where both Vivek and Pallavi Joshi, along with the team, were well received by the audience.

He challenged The Quint and demanded answers to two questions. He asked them to point out which part of the film was not based on the fact. He further asked them to prove on what basis they called the film Islamophobic. He said, “If they can’t, I deserve an UNCONDITIONAL APOLOGY. Or they stand exposed.”

The Kashmir Files and the resistance it faced from the liberals

Even before its release, The Kashmir Files has been facing serious resistance and blunt bad-mouthing by the liberals, Islamists and so-called intellectuals. As the film shows true stories of the exodus and genocide of Hindus from the Kashmir Valley, it became an eyesore for them. Before its release, NDTV called the film ‘propaganda’ which was later edited out when OpIndia published a report about it.

Since its release, film critics who belong to the liberal side of the media have tried their level best to paint a bad image of the film, claiming it is an Islamophobic film and has no facts. Not only the media but the leaders of opposition parties, including the Aam Aadmi Party, Congress, National Conference, and others, mocked and attempted to discredit the film. So much so that they even blamed the film for recent attacks on Hindus in the valley. However, none of them have been able to point out which particular scene or act of violence shown in the movie was not based on facts.

Mumbai: 16-year-old girl receives death threats for sharing a Facebook post in support of Kanhaiya Lal, case registered

On Wednesday, the Mumbai Police registered an FIR against an unidentified person for threatening a 16-year-old minor girl over a Facebook post. The girl who is a resident of Girgaon, Mumbai had shared a post on social media commenting on the murder of tailor Kanhaiya Lal in Rajasthan’s Udaipur.

According to the reports, the Police filed the FIR based on a complaint filed by the girl’s father. He said that his daughter had received a WhatsApp call from an unidentified person who threatened to kill her for her Facebook Post supporting Kanhaiya Lal. He also said that the caller abused her on calls and messages that continued for the next several hours.

The Mumbai Police detailing the incident confirmed that the girl had posted a message on her Facebook wall following which she received death threats from three numbers on the night of July 1. “We are trying to trace the accused and they will be arrested soon”, the officer investigating the case said. Reportedly, the Police are also trying to find out how the caller got hold of the girl’s mobile number.

The VP Road police have registered the case under Section 506 (2) (criminal intimidation) and 509 (insulting the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code based on the complaint filed by the girl’s father. While the police are investigating the case and trying to identify the accused, the officers suspect that the accused is a single person who used three different numbers to abuse and threatens the 16-year-old girl.

On June 28, Kanhaiya Lal, a tailor by profession was murdered by two Islamists named Riaz and Ghous Mohammed. The duo disguised as customers and entered the tailoring shop of the deceased. While Kanhaiya Lal was busy taking the cloth measurements, one of the accused attacked him with a long sharp knife. According to the post-mortem report, he was stabbed 26 times on his body from his neck to shoulder. Kanhaiya Lal was beheaded for uploading a social media post in support of ex-BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma.

AAP MLA Akhilesh Tripathi attacks and injures 2 persons with a brick for complaining about sewer problem, booked for assault

AAP MLA Akhilesh Tripathi from the Model Town constituency has been booked for physical assault by the Delhi Police after he reportedly attacked and injured two persons when they tried to complain about the sewer problem in their area.

As per reports, on the afternoon of July 6, AAP MLA Akhilesh Tripathy visited the Ashok Vihar area in Delhi to attend an event. A person named Guddu Halwai complained to the police that he was handling the catering of the event near the Jailor Wala Baag area. During the event, the caterer met the MLA and tried to bring his attention to the sewer problem in their area. However, the AAP MLA got furious and an argument ensued between the two. The furious AAP MLA then started physically assaulting the caterer and attacked his head with a brick.

Republic TV shared the visuals of the injured person who was bleeding from his head after being hit by a brick by the MLA.

Local persons told the media that it was unacceptable behaviour from the MLA. they asked who are the people supposed to complain to if they have a sewer problem in the area. They stated that CM Kejriwal promises that the Delhi government is to serve the people but here the AAP MLAs are attacking a common man for sharing civic problems in his area.

Mukesh Babu, a relative of Guddu who was also present at the event reportedly came to pacify the fight but he was attacked by the MLA too. Upon information, the police finally reached there and started investigating the incident. The AAP MLA has been booked under sections 323 and 341 for attacking the two persons.

Local people who were present have complained to the police that the AAP MLA Akhilesh Tripathi had lost his cool and started behaving aggressively when he heard the complaints about the faulty drainage system in the area. The victim who was injured by the MLA has been admitted to a hospital in Jahangirpuri.

‘Modi hai to mumkin hai’: Watch the people of Kutch celebrating the arrival of Narmada waters, after years of ‘andolanjivis’ hindering progress

On July 6, the floodwaters of Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited (SSNNL) finally reached Mod Kuba, the village that marks the tail-end of Kutch Branch Canal (KBC). As the water approached the village, hundreds of people lined up and cheered with happiness.

The people of Mod Kuba have waited for decades for the water to reach their village. Notably, several ‘andolanjivis’, including Medha Patkar, had made it difficult for the state government to complete the project. It was only after Prime Minister Narendra Modi took charge at the centre that the blockades in the Sardar Sarovar Dam project were cleared.

‘Modi hai to mumkin hai’

Videos of farmers emerged on social media in which they were cheering as the water reached the villages. In one of the videos, a farmer, with a huge smile on his face, was seen sitting calmly on the side of the canal, watching the water as it finally reached his village. Praising Prime Minister Modi for his exemplary work and efforts that he made to complete this project, he said, “Modi hai to mumkin hai,” which means “If Modi is here, it is possible”.

As the waters reached its tail-end, Narmada waters reached 750 KM from Narmada Dam, which marks the longest distance in a man-made canal. SSNNL Chairman JP Gupta was quoted by the Indian Express saying, “All the civil work and engineering work of the 350-kilometre KBC is complete, and we have been testing the canal since the last week by releasing water into it. The water is expected to reach Mod Kuba, the tail end of the KBC, in the early hours of Thursday.”

Notably, the areas in Saurashtra and north Gujarat have already received Narmada waters via Saurashtra Branch Canal and sub-branch canals network along with the canal network in north Gujarat. Gupta further added, “There were many challenges in completing this canal. There is a fall as the canal offtakes and enters the Rann of Kutch. Then, we have to lift water again to channel it further. In fact, a section of the KBC is 16 metres above the ground level, which is as high as a six-storey building.”

SSNL executive engineer for the KBC Vraj Pandya informed that three pumping stations had been set up at different locals in the KBC to lift water 56 metres so that it reached the tail-end.

Notably, there is a 60,000 KM long network of canals in this project. Not only the technical and engineering challenges, but the project also faced some issues of land acquisition and compensation that were overcome in recent years. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a 214 KM section of KBC in 2017 and released water into the Tappar Dam near Anjar. There was a 24 KM gap between the rest of the project due to land acquisition issues that were later cleared in 2021.

From Mod Kuba, the Narmada waters will escape into the Mod Kuba river.

Mewat man offers Rs 2 crores for slitting Nupur Sharma’s tongue after Supreme Court judges called it ‘loose’

There is no end to threats and bounties for former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma for her comments on Prophet Mohammad more than a month ago. In latest such incident, an Islamist in Mewat has declared that he will give Rs 2 crores to the one who slits Nupur Sharma’s tongue. This incident took place days after the Supreme Court judges said that Nupur Sharma’s ‘loose’ tongue is responsible for the communal disharmony in the country and Kanhaiya Lal’s beheading by Islamists in Udaipur.

In the video that went viral on July 6, an Islamist in Mewat is seen talking to some journalist. The Islamist said in this video, “I am giving this on behalf of the whole Mewat. If somebody slits Nupur Sharma’s tongue and brings it to me, the offer is Rs. 2 crores for the one who does so. Rs 2 crores. I will give it on behalf of the whole Mewat. And if you slit her tongue, you journalist, I will give you Rs. 2 crores. You get this offer.”

Police have said that they are aware of the video and they are looking into the matter. Nuh Superintendent of Police Varun Singla said, “The matter has just reached us. We are investigating to identify the accused. We appeal to people to not spread such videos and communal content.”

It is notable that these comments by the Islamist seen in the video have come after the Supreme Court, on July 1, blamed former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma for the brutal Udaipur murder and has stated that her ‘loose tongue’ has set the entire country on fire and she should apologize to the whole country.

Nupur Sharma had moved the SC seeking the transfer of all the FIRs registered against her, across several states to Delhi for further investigation. Sharma, in her application, stated that she is facing constant life threats.

The apex court, surprisingly, had placed all the blame on Nupur Sharma and her ‘loose tongue’ over the remarks on Prophet Muhammad that were deemed as ‘blasphemy’ by Islamists. The SC has lambasted Sharma saying that it was her and her ‘loose tongue’ that has set the entire country on fire and she should apologize to the whole country.

This is not the first bounty on Nupur Sharma’s ‘offensive’ tongue. Earlier in June, Bhim Sena Chief Nawab Satpal Tanwar had announced Rs 1 crore reward for Whoever brings the tongue of Nupur Sharma. he had also said that he would make her do ‘Mujra’ in front of him before punishing her for the remarks, and said that she deserves to be hanged. Later Tanwar was arrested for the threats.
