Twitter handles supporting Mohammed Zubair after his arrest were mostly from Pakistan, Kuwait and other middle-east nations, reveals Delhi Police

Delhi Police on Saturday revealed that Twitter accounts supporting Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair after his arrest for hurting religious sentiments, destroying evidence, and other charges, majorly belonged to Pakistan, UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, and other middle-east nations.

According to social media analysis, Twitter users who posted in support of Mohammed Zubair were mostly from the middle-east countries and Pakistan after the Alt News co-founder was arrested for hurting religious sentiments with a Hinduphobic post insulting Lord Hanuman.

Seeking 14-day judicial custody of Zubair, Delhi Police have contended that the accused is involved in a conspiracy and the destruction of evidence, and had received donations from foreign countries. The police have added Section 35 of The Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010, to the FIR against him.

Besides, the Police have also added three new Sections – 201 (for the destruction of evidence – formatted phone & deleted tweets), 120-(B) (for criminal conspiracy) of IPC against Mohammed Zubair.

When Zubair’s advocate highlighted the tweet in question was posted four years ago, Atul Shrivastava, who is representing Delhi Police, said the case is not time-barred and it is still a continuing offence as the tweet is still there.

The Delhi Police pointed out that the case is not just about a simple tweet but about foreign donations received by the accused’s organisation, including from Pakistan and Syria. The police argued that given the gravity of the charges against Zubair, his bail application should be dismissed, especially after the deletion of data from his phone after the filing of the FIR against him.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has also sought the bank account details of alleged fact-checker Mohammed Zubair. The central agency has asked for First Information Report (FIR) and remand papers from the Delhi police. ED will scrutinise Zubair’s bank account details to check for money laundering. According to the Delhi Police, Zubair’s AltNews has received donations through Razor Pay from countries like Pakistan, Syria and Australia, which required thorough investigation.

Mohammed Zubair was arrested on June 28 by the Delhi Police for hurting religious sentiments via derogatory social media posts targeting Hinduism. He was booked under Sections 153A and 295 of the Indian Penal Code. The FIR was based on a tweet by Twitter user @balajikijaiin where the user had shared a screenshot of an old tweet by Zubair in which he had mocked Lord Hanuman. In the tweet, @balajikijaiin had tagged the Delhi Police and asked them to take action against Zubair for hurting the sentiments of Hindus with his derogatory post against Lord Hanuman.

Pakistan connection of Udaipur beheading: ‘Salman Bhai’ told Mohammad Gaus to ‘do something spectacular’ in response to the comments on Prophet Muhammad

Mohammad Gaus and Mohammad Riyaz, the murderers of Kanhaiya Lal who brutally beheaded him, reportedly participated in protests in early June that were organised against former Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Nupur Sharma’s remarks on Prophet Muhammad. It is after these protests that they were selected by their operators in Pakistan to be employed to kill people like Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur for supporting Nupur Sharma.

According to an Indian Express report, the killing of Kanhaiya Lal Teli in Udaipur was deliberately planned and prompted by a person in Pakistan identified as “Salman Bhai,” who told one of the accused, Mohammad Gaus, that he needed to do ‘something spectacular’ in response to the remarks on the Prophet because peaceful protests would not work.

According to reports, Gaus had earlier traveled to Pakistan in December 2014 at the invitation of Dawat-e-Islami, a Pakistan-based extremist Islamist outfit. After returning to Udaipur in January 2015, Gaus joined a few WhatsApp groups and communicated with “Salman Bhai” and another individual in Pakistan, named Abu Ibrahim.

As per the initial investigation conducted by the NIA, Gaus and Riyaz began plotting the attack on Kanhaiya Lal a couple of weeks before his murder. They are reported to have confessed to the investigating agency that a person named “Babla Bhai,” who hails from the Dhanmandi neighbourhood where Kanhaiya Lal’s ‘Supreme Tailors’ was located, had targeted 10-11 persons and formed separate groups to attack them.

The initial interrogation of Gaus and Riyaz also indicates that images and data of a few persons were disseminated on local WhatsApp groups consisting of Muslim members two-three weeks prior to the incident. Kanhaiya Lal’s photo and other information about him were also circulated in one of these groups, according to Indian Express.

While Gaus and Riyaz chose Kanhaiya Lal as their target since his shop was close to their place of employment, reports suggest that Muslims in the locality actively supported them. Prior to the June 28 attack, two of them, Wasim and Mohsin Khan, reportedly performed reconnaissance of Kanhaiya Lal’s shop. Mohsin and another fellow named Asif Hussain were both arrested on Friday for their role in the murder. There is no information available on Wasim.

Following the killing, Gaus and Riyaz visited one Shoaib Bhai and shot another video while still wearing the same clothes. Riyaz shared this video, in which they threatened to murder Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on several local WhatsApp groups. Later, the two accused went to a different person’s workshop to change their attire. Then they planned to escape to Ajmer Sharif on Riyaz’s motorcycle. However, the police at Bhim in the Rajsamand district stopped them mid-way and apprehended them.

All these series of incidents clearly indicate that this was a well-planned and executed murder. These two Islamists attended protests against Nupur Sharma prior to plotting the murder of Kanhaiya Lal, from where they were identified as potential murderers. It is noteworthy how the violent protests against Nupur Sharma were championed by Islamists and liberals as a ‘democratic and peaceful’ method of conveying dissent, but in a clandestine manner, they were used to stir up hatred, and choose people to initiate social strife and unleash terror in society.

The involvement of Riyaz and Gaus in protests prior to the killing of Kanhaiya Lal reveals the dangers of these unruly protests that exploded in the country. These protests are used by Islamists and liberals to identify their foot-soldiers who can sow discord in the country and peddle their agenda of hatred, more particularly, Hindu hatred.

USA: Man enters Yoga studio in Salt Lake City and threatens Hindu owner and members, gets arrested

One man was detained on Wednesday 29th June 2022 at the Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Mission near Liberty Park in Salt Lake City USA after he broke into a live-streaming of a devotional program and and abused and threatened the people there. Before being apprehended outside the Hindu temple and yoga studio, the man is believed to have also fired shots at a home in Salt Lake County, a convenience store, and a grocery store somewhere else in the city. According to a report by The Salt Lake Tribune, the man allegedly fired rounds into the air and out of his car window, citing police spokesman Melody Cutler.

According to Cutler, the individual who was detained knew the Salt Lake County homeowner who also owned the yoga studio. She said that the suspect was a former member of the yoga studio. Cutler told that the arrested person was warned not to return after he behaved aggressively with some of the other attendees at the yog a class.

Around 9 a.m., a throng of policemen came to the studio after witnesses phoned the police, and studio staff informed the owner that a suspect had arrived. Around 9:30 a.m., police seized the suspect inside his car outside the studio and put him in jail. Melody Cutler said, “No one was hit by gunfire, but the man got into a physical altercation with the yoga studio employees, and one suffered minor injuries.”

The international Bhakti Yoga Society’s Salt Lake City chapter is housed at the studio. The man allegedly entered the room around 13 minutes into a woman’s broadcast from the studio to the group’s Facebook page. While the man had covered the camera, it was still running, and the audio was live-streamed for over an hour. The man had left the building and police had arrived when finally the streaming was cut. The footage was later taken off the web page. As of Wednesday night, no official charges had been brought against the apprehended individual. The police are still investigating.

It is notable that, before Salt Lake City, such incidents of random firing in the USA have frequently happened in the recent past. In the month of June 2022, such incidents claiming multiple lives took place in Oklahoma, Philadelphia, and Washington.

Chhattisgarh: 22-year-old man receives death threats for an Instagram post supporting Nupur Sharma

A 22-year-old man in Chhattisgarh is at the receiving end of Islamist ire after he posted a story on Instagram supporting former BJP leader Nupur Sharma. Raja Jagat, a resident of Bhilai city, is receiving death threats for extending support to the beleaguered leader who is under attack for quoting Islamic Hadiths to comment on Prophet Muhammad.

According to the police, Raja had shared a post on his Instagram account, extending his support to Nupur Sharma, following which he started receiving death threats on the social media platform. Spooked by the death threats and in the wake of the Udaipur incident, where Islamists beheaded a Hindu tailor for a social media post in support of Nupur Sharma, Raja approached the police and filed a complaint against accounts that had threatened to kill him. The complaint filed by Raja says one of the accounts that threatened him is operated by one Kashif, while the other one shows the name of ‘Ritika Nayak’.

Police registered FIR in the case

The Chhattisgarh Police moved swiftly and filed an FIR in the case, fearing the outcome witnessed in the Udaipur beheading where Kanhaiya Lal, a Hindu tailor who had posted a message in solidarity with Nupur Sharma, was hacked to death in broad daylight by Islamists for her remarks on Prophet Muhammad. Based on the information received from the youth, the police filed an FIR against the accused.

Unnerved by the Udaipur beheading by Islamists, a spooked Raja Jagat stops going to his workplace

The Udaipur beheading of Kanhaiya Lal by Islamists instilled a sense of fear in Raja, who has stopped going to his workplace in Raipur, fearing attacks from lurking Islamists who would not settle for anything but his severed neck. Reportedly, Raja is so frightened for his life after receiving death threats that he has ensconced himself in a safe place and switched off his mobile phone.

The Kumhari police station in-charge, Man Singh Sonwani, said that because of the sensitivity of the matter, the police launched an investigation on a war footing to determine the whereabouts of the account holders who had threatened Raja Jagat. The police is also keeping an eye on social media to trace offenders threatening people for speaking their minds out.

Kanhaiya Lal, a Hindu tailor, was beheaded in Udaipur for supporting Nupur Sharma

On Tuesday, multiple videos had gone viral on social media where two Islamists can be seen going to Kanhaiya Lal’s shop pretending to be customers. When he was taking measurements, suddenly one of them attacked him with knives. Seconds later, he was lying dead in a pool of blood.

In another video released by the two men who were seen attacking Kanhaiya Lal in the video, they could be heard saying how they hoped their knife reaches the neck of PM Modi as well. “Oh Narendra Modi, listen, you’ve started the fire and will we extinguish it. I hope this knife reaches your neck as well, Inshallah. Oh, the people of Udaipur, chant, “Gustakh e Rasool ki Sazah, Sar tan see Juda (The one who insults Allah has the only Punishment, which is the separation of the head from the body), the assassins could be heard saying.

Following this incident, stone pelting was reported on police from a ‘particular community’. Earlier, Islamists have taken to stone-pelting from places like mosques to protest against various things including Hindu processions on festivals. Right now, the internet has been suspended and section 144 has been put in place. The two men who killed Kanhaiya Lal have been arrested.

‘It was good he was killed’: Samsul Laskar from Assam supports Kanhaiya Lal murder on Facebook, gets arrested

As NIA have started the investigation into the horrific murder of Kanhaiya Lal Teli in Udaipur, Islamists across the country continue to celebrate the beheading and hail the killers. Several such people have been arrested at different places for celebrating the murder. In latest incident, a man has been arrested for the same reason.

The Assam police have arrested an Islamist named Samsul Laskar for celebrating the gruesome murder of Hindu tailor Kanhaiya Lal on social media.

As per reports, Samsul is a resident of the Katlicherra area in the Hailakandi district of Assam. He was seen endorsing the beheading of the Hindu man by his co-religionists, Riyaz Attari and Mohammad Ghaus, on Facebook.

A man named Abu Choudhury had condemned the killing of Kanhaiya Lal on the social media platform. He had remarked, “An extremist killed a man for supporting Nupur Sharma in Udaipur. Besides condemning the incident, I also demand the death penalty for the accused.”

While responding to the Facebook post by Choudhury, Samsul Laskar extended his support to the killers of Kanhaiya Lal.

He wrote, “Hotta korei valo korecha – eto bodo ek aporadhika keno somorthon korlo.” The loose translation goes as “It’s good that they have killed him (the victim). Why did he support a big criminal (Nupur Sharma).”

Police action against Samsul Laskar

Soon after, a complaint was registered against Samsul Laskar by BJP Yuva Morcha (Hailakandi) President Milon Das with the Hailakandi Sadar police station.

Das remarked, “The act by Samsul is tantamount to supporting the terrorist organisation, which was behind the killing and this is disturbing the communal harmony across the district.” He had demanded the immediate arrest of the Islamists.

Based on his complaint, Samsul Laskar was apprehended by the police on Thursday (June 30). He has been booked under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 153A (promoting enmity between religions), 505 (1) (c) (provocation), 505 (2) (statements promoting enmity).

Additionally, charges were also pressed against him under Section 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act of 1967. A probe has been launched into the matter.

Laskar accused of impersonation

On his Facebook profile, Samsul had claimed to be associated with SK Roy College in Katlichera. However, when East Mojo reached out to the college, they informed that the accused had never been a part of the college in any capacity. The administration added that the information given on his Facebook profile are wrong.

It must be mentioned that Kanhaiya Lal was brutally murdered by Riyaz Attari and Mohammad Ghaus on June 28 for supporting Nupur Sharma on social media. Besides recording their crime on camera, they also confessed to killing him to avenge alleged insults to their Prophet.

‘AltNews got donations from Pakistan, Syria etc’: Delhi Police seeks 14-days judicial custody of Mohammed Zubair, adds charges of FCRA violation

On Saturday, the Delhi Police sought 14-days of judicial custody of Mohammed Zubair, the co-founder of leftist propaganda portal AltNews who was arrested for hurting Hindu sentiments. The Police also added sections of criminal conspiracy, destruction of evidence and FCRA violation to the case. Meanwhile, Lawyer Vrinda Grover, representing Zubair, insisted the court approve her bail plea of Zubair claiming that the investigation in the case was already over.

According to the reports, Zubair was produced before the Patiala House Court today after the completion of his police custody period. He was remanded to 4 days of police custody after being arrested for posting derogatory comments about Hindu Gods and Goddesses. Advocate Vrinda Grover who appeared for Zubair moved the bail application stating that the Police had recovered the devices of the accused.

However, public prosecutor Atul Shrivastava who represented the Delhi Police in court sought 14 days of judicial custody. He stated that the Police had added new provisions and wanted to investigate the monetary donations received by AltNews. The Police reportedly sought to add section 35 FCRA (Foreign Contribution Regulation Act), IPC 201 (destruction of evidence) and 120b (criminal conspiracy). He has already been charged under sections 153A (promoting enmity between religious groups) and 295 (injuring or defiling a place of worship, with intent to insult the religion of any class) of the IPC.

The proceedings today came a day after the Delhi High Court issued notice to the Delhi Police on a plea by Zubair challenging the Patiala House Court order remanding him to police custody. Zubair also took objection to the court order permitting the examination and seizure of the laptop of Zubair.

Earlier, the Police had taken Zubair to his Bengaluru residence to confiscate his laptop and other electronic items that he used to post derogatory posts on social media. According to the reports, Zubair had refused to hand over his electronic devices and had formatted them. The Police said that despite repeatedly asking for the devices, Zubair had refused to hand his devices over to the Police. But the Police on June 30 recovered his laptop and said that it would be sent for forensic examination at CFSL, Rohini.

UP Grooming Jihad: 23-year-old woman abducted, gang-raped, forced to marry and convert to Islam, Javed, his brother and 2 others booked

Grooming Jihad (Love Jihad) cases have been on the rise in the country even as ‘liberals’ continue to deny its existence. In one such recent case, a 23-year-old woman was abducted from the Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh, drugged, and repeatedly gang-raped by Javed and two of his friends. The victim was also forced to marry Javed and convert to Islam.

According to the reports, the girl who belonged to Colonelganj town in Gonda district was abducted on June 14 and was brought to Mumbai by the brother of Javed, whom she had been frequently talking to over the phone. She was locked in a room by Javed in Mumbai who also drugged her to keep her mentally dull and subdued.

She was then gang-raped several times by Javed and other accused. After torturing her for a few days, the accused forcefully got her married to Javed and converted to Islam. The accused then on June 23 dropped the victim back at the Colonelganj railway station and fled from the spot.

The father of the girl lodged a police complaint against the accused and stated that her daughter was gang-raped several times by Javed and two other people. The father also mentioned in the complaint that the accused had threatened his daughter to not report the incident. The Police, however, registering the case, have booked all the four accused including Javed, his brother, and two of his friends.

It is important to note that this is not the first time that such a case of Grooming Jihad has been reported. Earlier on June 30, a 20-year-old woman had filed a complaint against her neighbor Zakir and his two accomplices alleging that Zakir had kidnapped her with the help of his two aides, held her captive for six months, and had sexually exploited her during that time. She further stated that Zakir had coerced her into converting to Islam.

Also on June 3, a 21-year-old woman from the Baradari area of Rampur, Uttar Pradesh was sexually assaulted by one Waseem Ansari who had allegedly posed himself as ‘Ravi Sharma’ to lure the victim.

Besides this, there are several similar cases of Love Jihad, where Islamists have lied about their religious identity to trap innocent non-Muslim women to forcefully marry and sexually abuse them. OpIndia has documented several such cases over the last few years.

Rajasthan police arrests Maulana Mufti Nadeem who threatened to chop hands and gouge eyes for ‘blasphemy’ while protesting against Nupur Sharma

According to reports, the Bundi Kotwali police station has arrested Maulana Mufti Nadeem, who made incendiary comments against ex-Bharatiya Janata Party spokeswoman Nupur Sharma in Bundi. Since the Udaipur incident, there has been a growing call for Maulana’s arrest. Following the violent murder of Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur, doubts were raised about the police’s failure to apprehend Maulana Mufti.

On June 4, a video of Maulana Mufti of Bundi, Rajasthan, went viral on social media, with him threatening to gouge the eyes and chop the hands of people who criticise Prophet Mohammad. The offensive comment was made by Maulana Mufti against Nupur Sharma at the Bundi Collectorate, when the Muslim community had gone to visit the collector on June 3 to submit a letter protesting Sharma’s remarks.

Maulana Mufti said, “If the administration says it is not against the law, we will go against the law. If it is against the law, the local administration and the union government must listen… If she has done blasphemy against my master, which she has done, and if someone else does the same, listen carefully… take action against them. If you fail to take action, Muslims will take the matter into their hands.”

Threatening to chop hands and gouge eyes for blasphemy, he said, “You can abuse me, I will tolerate. You can abuse my father, I will tolerate it. You can abuse my family, I will tolerate it. But if you speak even a word against my Nabi, your tongue will be cut. If you raise your hands, they will be chopped. If you raise your finger, it will be chopped. Even if you raise your eyes, we will gouge the eyes and throw them away. After that, you can throw us in jail or do a lathi charge, we will tolerate it. But we cannot tolerate a word against Nabi.”

According to reports, Maulana sympathizers have begun to congregate outside the Kotwali police station in Bundi after his arrest. As a result, a large police force has been deployed outside the police station.

ED seeks bank details of AltNews’ Mohammed Zubair, may initiate an investigation for money laundering

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has sought the bank account details of alleged fact-checker Mohammed Zubair, arrested for hurting Hindu sentiments and then attempting to delete evidence.

As per reports, the central agency has also asked for First Information Report (FIR) and remand papers from the Delhi police. ED will scrutinise Zubair’s bank account details to check for money laundering.

While speaking about the development, an ED source informed, “(We will) go through the transactions in his account to check if the money was laundered. If we find evidence, we will lodge an Enforcement Case Information Report of prevention of money laundering and initiate an investigation.”

Earlier, the Delhi police had informed that the bank account of Mohammed Zubair had over ₹50 lakh transactions in the past few days.

Deputy Commissioner of Police KPS Malhotra had remarked, “We have evidence that there have been transactions over Rs 50 lakh in the last few days using his account which we will look into.”

Quoting a screenshot of the tweet about the Delhi Police’s statement, co-founder of AltNews Pratik Sinha said it was a lie.

Delhi HC directs police to file a counter affidavit in the case of Mohammed Zubair

On Friday (July 1), the Delhi High Court granted 2 weeks’ time to the Delhi police to respond to the petition of Mohammed Zubair, who was arrested on June 27 this year.

The court has asked the cops to file a counter-affidavit and adjourned the matter to July 27, 2022. Justice Sanjeev Narula pointed out that the remand order against the Alt News co-founder ended on Friday (July 1) and that he has to be produced before a Magistrate on Saturday (July 2).

Zubair had filed a plea before the Delhi High Court after the Patiala High Court ordered his detention. The Court said, “Since this petition is on merits, I will have to hear the other side. Since the remand is to come to an end tomorrow and it’s for the Magistrate to decide whether to extend the remand or grant bail, it will have different effects.”

It further added, “Tomorrow the Delhi police has to show Magistrate the material they have in hand. Magistrate will have to examine remand.” Vrinda Grover, representing Zubair, had claimed that none would be safe in India if courts do not stop arrests on ‘frivolous charges.’
