Rajasthan govt bans religious flags, prohibits watching Shobha Yatras from terraces, but no such instructions for stone-pelting epicentres

0

In the aftermath of the Karauli stone-pelting incident on April 2, 2022, the Congress-led government in Rajasthan prohibited the hoisting of religious flags on homes. It also placed several restrictions like the use of DJs during processions and Shobha Yatras, which are being carried out to mark many ongoing and upcoming Hindu festivals such as Durga Ashtami, Ram Navami, Mahavir Jayanti and Hanuman Jayanti. Section 144 of the Code Of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) has been placed in many districts of the state.

Media reports suggest that the state government has forbidden the use of religious flags or putting them up in private places. The use of loudspeakers is banned during this period. According to the decree issued, any person or organisation will have to compulsorily take prior permission for using a DJ for any function or festival.

According to the guidelines, organisers must submit an affidavit and request letter for procession, rallies, and use of the DJ system, as well as details of the content to be played through the DJ system. In their checklists, police will also verify whether or not they have examined the DJ’s contents.

Furthermore, the Rajasthan government, which has made special arrangements for Muslims observing Roza during the Islamic holy month of Ramzan, like promising uninterrupted power supply, has said that people will not even be allowed to stand on their house terraces to watch the Shobha Yatra while it passes through their respective areas. The Bhaskar report further read that the Rajasthan police would also lock all of the houses on the route of the Shobha Yatra from the outside.

Report published by Hindi daily Bhaskar (source: Twitter user Hirendra Kaushik)

To ‘reduce noise pollution’, loudspeakers have been prohibited in all public and religious spaces. Prior permission will be necessary to carry out the same, which will be permitted between the hours of 6 am and 10 pm. Surprisingly, the administration which seems to be so worried about the ‘noise pollution’ caused by the use of loudspeakers during Hindu festivals, remains unfettered when the same loudspeakers are used during Azaan, that too five times a day.

In cities like Jaipur, the Police remained on high alert, as more than 1200 personnel were stationed along the yatra route, on terraces and rooftops of high rise buildings. Surveillance and inspection were being carried out through drones as well and senior police officers were a part of the march past that was carried out in the area.

Interestingly, the restrictions, which went into effect on April 7, 2022, and will stay in force until May 9, coincides with Hindu festival celebrations such as Mahavir Jayanti, Durga Ashtami, Ambedkar Jayanti, Ram Navami, and Hanuman Jayanti.

The Rajasthan government maintained that the decree was issued in the aftermath of the communal violence that broke out in Rajasthan’s Karauli on April 2, when a motorcycle rally marking Nav Samvatsar (Hindu new year) passed through a Muslim-dominated neighbourhood.

While Rajasthan govt takes preemptive measures to maintain law and order, a similar resolve to deal with stone pelters is missing

The manner in which events have unfolded in the aftermath of the stone-pelting incident in Karauli, Rajasthan, and the readiness with which the Rajasthan administration has responded, is fine. But one must pause and consider why the administration isn’t as prepared to take similar measures against the stone-pelters.

If so many harsh steps are being taken with respect to the peaceful Sobha Yatra processions to mark Hindu festivals, the same kind of resolve is expected from the government to tackle the menace of stone-pelting, which has become all but pervasive. Emboldened by the government inaction, miscreants have upped their attacks, indiscriminately pelting stones at the participants of a Hindu rally that took place in Kaurali on April 2, 2022.

It may be recalled that days after the violence, the Rajasthan police, working at the behest of the Congress government in the state had tried to blame the Hindu rally for the violence while trying to convey that stones were pelted in response to ‘objectionable’ songs.

Mohan Lal Lather, DGP, Rajasthan said that the way the Nav Samvatsar procession was carried out was dubious and objectionable songs were played, that’s why stone pelting took place.

The statements issued by the Rajasthan police or administration, at no point condemned the Muslim mob that pelted stones targeting the rally conducted by Hindus.

On April 2, when Hindus across the world were celebrating their new year, communal violence broke down in the Hatwara Bazaar area of Karauli when miscreants pelted stones at a Hindu bike rally while more than a dozen shops and three bikes were set on fire.

Reportedly, 43 people, including policemen, were injured in the mob attack while the rally was celebrating ‘Nav Samvatsar’ passed through a Muslim-dominated area. Four policemen accompanying the rally were also injured in the stone-pelting on the bike rally. The reports said that there were knife marks on the body of the injured who reached the hospital.

West Bengal: Mamata Banerjee threatens media for covering ‘negative stories’, warns companies against giving advertisements to ‘non-friendly channels’

On Monday (April 11), West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee threatened the media for allegedly defaming her government through ‘consistent’ coverage of negative stories. She made the contentious remarks during the inauguration of the revamped Milan Mela in Kolkata.

“Somewhere, a firecracker (chocolate bomb) has exploded and the media is holding the Trinamool Congress responsible for it. The story is being telecast all the time. And no other media house is doing this job better than Anandabazar Patrika,” Mamata Banerjee accused the newspaper of exaggeration.

“Wow. It gets advertisements (from the State government) and only highlights the negative things…Remember, you must set limits for yourself. Those who give advertisement to them must ponder whether it should be continued at all,” she cautioned.

The West Bengal Chief Minister warned, “How many times have you discussed the ‘fuel price hike’ on your channel? How many panel discussions, and debates did you hold on this topic? If Bengal media defames Bengal (government), then, what will BJP do?”

Mamata Banerjee asked people to watch TV serials instead of news channels. “Watch Star Jalsa, Zee TV serials. People are, anyway, in a state of mental pollution. Do not spend too much watching, listening to the news (given that they cover only negative things about the government),” she continued.

“Humanity is dead in the Russian-Ukraine war. There is only bloodshed and destruction. Sri Lanka is on the verge of an economic collapse. Tell me honestly, how many times did you cover these news stories?” Banerjee inquired.

In a longer version of her speech, Mamata Banerjee could be heard blaming the ‘irresponsible’ media for supposedly distorting the image and perception of the State of West Bengal. “I will not allow this to happen and even sacrifice my life for it,” she announced.

The West Bengal Chief Minister warned, “Agun lagale kintu aagun sobar ghore lage. Ami agun chai na shanti chai (When you light a fire, it will burn down every house including yours. I don’t want fire but peace)” She claimed that source-based reporting by journalists is illegal.

Banerjee said, “In Bengal, we tolerate things but it doesn’t mean that you will cross all limits…Bengal is soft, TMC is soft, isn’t it?” She then threatened companies against providing ads to non-friendly media companies. “With your ad money, they increase their TRP and show negative things such as murders all the time.”

The West Bengal Chief Minister was ‘upset’ over the media coverage of the alleged rape and death of a 14-year-old girl by the son of a TMC leader in the Nadia district. She also hit out at Youtubers for allegedly posting unverified news content on the platform.

Do positive stories, get advertisements: Mamata Banerjee

In November last year, Mamata Banerjee had courted controversy after she directed a journalist to fall in line in exchange for government advertisements. A local journalist, by the name of Shukla Ganguly, had lamented about the lack of advertisement revenue in her cash-strapped news organisation.

“We are running our paper for the past 11 years. Several small news organisations, including ours, are in a perilous state. We do not get advertisements from the government. I am requesting you over and again to please look into the matter,” the journalist pleaded.

After listening to the grievances of Shukla Ganguly, Mamata Banerjee stated, “The rural newspapers (gramin patrika), which will highlight the government’s work in a positive light, will get advertisement revenue. I will specifically direct the District Magistrate (DM) about this. This is because the government does not use State machinery each time for publicity.”

She claimed, “Today, we launched several initiatives for the development of the State. Big TV channels will show the news only once. However, rural newspapers will write (in detail) about it and will ensure that the information will reach every village in the State. As such, we have to take care of such rural newspapers who do this work with positivity.”

The West Bengal Chief Minister emphasised the need for sending a copy of rural newspapers to the cops and DM office. “Do you know why? This will help them review whether the news coverage (about the government) is positive or negative. Whoever is doing more positive content, give them advertisements. This is because I want them to work well and highlight all the positives.”

Mamata Banerjee then appealed to rural journalists to spin negative stories into positive news. “A negative news can always be turned into a positive one. In Bengal, we notice only negativity. There is no focus on positive news. Do positive stories. You will surely get advertisements from us…I am saying this for a long time. Hold a meeting with local newspapers and decide accordingly.”

Twitter may play a partisan role in general elections 2024: Suspended Twitter handles argue in Delhi High Court highlighting the platform’s ideological bias

On Tuesday 12th of April, the Delhi High Court heard a plea by popular Twitter handles ‘Wokeflix‘ and ‘Bharadwaj speaks’ over their suspension by the social media platform. Advocates Raghav Awasthi and Mukesh Sharma argued on behalf of suspended handles against Twitter’s political bias in suspending accounts under its company rules.

The petitioners argued that their accounts on Twitter have been suspended because they belong to a particular political persuasion. Wokeflix is a popular page that published political satires and memes on daily affairs. Bharadwaj speaks in its earlier avatar ‘TrueIndology’ has faced the wrath of multiple suspensions for being an authoritative historical fact-checker page that was famous for taking on left-wing historians. The advocates made a case that Twitter may play a partisan role in general elections in 2024, with its current biased policy.

On making tech giants follow the rule of the land

“If tech giants are not injuncted against not following law of the land, consequences for our democracy would be quite severe,” argued the petitioners while telling the Court that western experience suggests that tech giants are often “weaponized” in political discourse. “As students of Indian history, the petitioner would like to underscore that even the East India Company entered the country as a trading corporation in the 17th century before it went out to attain paramountcy in Indian affairs by the 19th century,” the accounts stated.

Exposing the anti-Hindu bias of Twitter

The petitioners argued that Twitter often perpetuates “Double Standards”, in a policy where “Hindu sentiments are allowed to be ridden roughshod over whereas sentiments of other communities are treated with kid gloves.” The advocates further stated before Delhi High Court that, “Twitter is aiding and abetting in the normalisation of genocidal tyrants like Aurangzeb who was responsible for killing 4 million Hindus & adjusted for population levels, is higher than the number of victims Holocaust perpetrated.”

The suspended handles put out instances where Twitter allowed posts and visual references on the platform which had strict racist undertones and snide remarks against Hindu Gods and Goddesses. One of the Bangladeshi handles had recently put out a graphic comparing Indian women who wear bindis to bitches. Comments calling 17th-century genocidal warmonger Aurangzeb ‘the most based Emperor” are allowed to be published on Twitter. “Whether the respondent would allow posts extolling Adolf Hitler and others by neo-Nazi extremists? If the answer is negative then we must ask ourselves as to why similar courtesy cannot be extended to Hindus in this country,” the advocates argued.

The handles in their petition argued that Twitter has an anti-Hindu bias that perpetuates double standards with its regulatory actions.

“In a country where 80 per cent of the population is Hindu, the aforesaid community cannot be treated as children of a lesser God,” argued the petitioner while making a case about Twitter’s algorithmic bias against Hindus.

The hearing before the Delhi High Court is part of an ongoing case against sudden arbitrary suspension of Twitter handles like Wokeflix, Bharadwajspeaks, Megh Bulletin, Befitting Facts and others. The Central government has filed an affidavit in the case where they have reiterated that social media platforms have to give a fair chance to users, and they cannot be suspending their accounts on flimsy grounds.

‘A sword-wielding miscreant dashed toward the Hindus’: SP who sustained bullet injury narrates the mayhem unleashed during Khargone violence

Madhya Pradesh was one of the several states that witnessed stone-pelting, arson and violence during this year’s Ram Navami celebrations where Hindu processions were attacked by Muslims. On Sunday, April 10, a Ram Navami procession that began in the Talab Chowk area of Khargone had to be abandoned midway after it came under a volley of stones. Several vehicles were set on fire.

The cops resorted to firing tear gas shells to bring the situation under control. During the orgy of violence, a total of 24 people were injured, including six police personnel. Even the Superintendent of Police (Khargone) Siddharth Chaudhary has sustained bullet injuries.

In an interview with Dainik Bhaskar, SP Siddharth Chaudhary remembered the day of the incident, when mayhem was unleashed on people taking part in the Ram Navami Shobha Yatra, with stone-pelting, arson, and violence in ‘Muslim-majority’ areas. He described his ordeal and how he and his officers were targeted by these radical elements.

The SP recalled how a miscreant wielding a sword had dashed toward the Hindus devotees. A police team of 12 to 15 officers attempted to apprehend the sword-wielding miscreant and were initially successful, but he soon managed to escape and flee. Then, as the SP attempted to catch up with him by running behind him, someone shot at his leg from behind. Chaudhary stated that at first, he thought someone had struck him with a stone. But one of his officers realised that the SP had been hit with a bullet. Despite suffering a head injury himself, the officer rushed the blood-soaked SP to the hospital.

According to Siddharth Chaudhary, the procession was slightly delayed because the main tableaux could not arrive at the scheduled time. By then it was time for the Muslims to offer Namaz. The situation deteriorated soon after that. He stated that the police were trying to move the tableaus forward, but some people from behind began throwing stones. Within no time some other miscreants barged the narrow lane and began setting vehicles and houses on fire. SP Siddharth Chaudhary recalled how, despite great difficulty, the policemen rescued the people trapped in the narrow lane.

Keeping in mind the volatile law and order situation, a curfew was imposed in the area. The SP stated that even the fire vehicle was attacked by some arsonists and the narrow lanes in the area made it extremely difficult for the police to escort the vehicles.

MP government cracks down on stone pelters

On April 11, the Khargone administration took strict action against the miscreants who had pelted stones at the Ram Navami procession on Sunday. The illegally constructed buildings were bulldozed by the administration. Five JCB machines were deployed for the task. Earlier, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had hinted that the MP government would take strict action against those who were involved in stone-pelting, rioting and arson.

Multiple videos emerged on social media where JCB machines could be seen in action amid the presence of a heavy police force.

What happened in Khargone?

On April 10, a Ram Navami procession that began in the Talab Chowk area of Khargone had to be abandoned midway after it came under a volley of stones. Several vehicles were set on fire. The cops resorted to firing tear gas shells to bring the situation under control. During the orgy of violence, a total of 24 people were injured, including six police personnel.

Days after Islamists attack Ram Navami celebrations, whitewashers plan to trend ‘Genocide of Muslims’ to vilify India

Hindu processions have long suffered the wrath of the Islamist attackers. Be it the Durga Mata emersion processions or rallies organised to celebrate the Hindu new year, Islamists have not flinched from unleashing their murderous tendencies and imposing their supremacist beliefs on adherents of other faiths, most notably Hindus.

It was therefore no surprise when a Hindu procession, launched after over 7 years in Rajasthan’s Karauli, witnessed violence and stone-pelting as Islamists in the village revolted against an innocuous celebrations to mark the Hindu new year. Similarly, even the Ram Navami celebrations, that took place on April 10, was marred with instances of vandalism, rioting and stone-pelting as Islamists took to violence to oppose the audacity of Hindus to organise the rallies through what the apologists of Islamists have called ‘Muslim areas’.

The mere existence of another faith and something as fundamental as exercising the right to celebrate one’s festivals are regarded as “provocation”, enough to warrant a violent backlash from the Islamists. As a consequence, Ram Navami celebrations came under attack in at least 5 different Indian States, namely, Gujarat, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka.

Frenzied mob, intoxicated over the notion of Islamic supremacy and harbouring deep animosity towards followers of other faiths, ran amok, attacking and maiming those who participated in Hindu processions with complete abandon. They were armed with sticks and rods, and determined to stop the rallies from advancing through their ‘Muslim areas’.

Apologists of Islamists plan to trend ’Genocide of Muslims in India’ to paper over their murderous anti-Hindu antics

However, days after the appalling attacks on Ram Navami celebrations, the apologists and sympathisers of Islamist goons have decided to come up with a malicious campaign, aimed at whitewashing the criminal activities of the culprits and pushing the blame on the victims instead. As Islamists across the country proceeded to target Hindu processions on Ram Navami, their supporters among the liberal intelligentsia and the global ecosystem swung into action, portraying the violence and chaos witnessed during Ram Navami celebrations as ‘Genocide of Muslims’.

As a part of their efforts to play victimhood narrative and demonise the majority community of India, the global ecosystem has decided to launch a Twitter campaign, asking its foot soldiers to storm the microblogging website with hashtag #IndianMuslimGenocideAlert—a radical attempt to stoke paranoia and resentment among the Muslim community while deliberately distorting the truth and vilifying the Hindus.

Source: Twitter

The proponents of this hyperbole of ’Indian Muslims under attack’ have sought to mobilise support on Twitter and other social media platform, in order to peddle their unfounded belief of Muslims being in danger in India. The aim of the campaign is, of course, to inflame resentment among Indian Muslims and draw unwarranted international attention towards India, besides the ulterior objective of covering up for the violent proclivities and antecedents of the Islamists in India.

This exaggeration of foreboding an imminent genocide of Muslims in India is often played up by the global ecosystem so as to seek international support for their perverse propaganda of delegitimising the Modi government and reinforcing their narrative that Muslims continue to live under a mortal threat in India.

Unfortunately, this has become a pattern where the global ecosystem, ranging from the likes of Rana Ayyub, who continuesto paint a picture of gloom and doom for Muslims in India, with her opinion columns and constant caterwauling on social media websites that Muslims are facing a certain genocide in India, to foreign propagandists such as CJ Werleman, who has made it his hobbyhorse to peddle misinformation and fake news to reinforce his propaganda that Muslims in India are teetering on the brink of ethnic cleansing.

The ‘McCarthyism’ of Islamists in projecting their crimes and follies onto others

Even as the propagandists and global ecosystem have been fear-mongering about a certain Muslim genocide underway in India and screaming that Muslims face an existential threat in India, in reality, it is the Islamists who are insidiously ratcheting up their game on ground in India as witnessed in the number of violent protest that country has witnessed of late. While their ideological brethren demonise Hindus and the Modi government of effecting a Muslim genocide, the Islamists are busy laying the groundwork for establishing a Sharia-compliant society, where people belonging to other faiths are punished for overtly celebrating or manifesting their festivals and religious beliefs.

This is quintessential ‘McCarthyism’ that the liberals and Islamists are masters at, where they project their own guilts and shortcomings onto their opponents to hide their own vices. In order to cover up their intolerance, violent tendencies and antipathy for Hindu processions, they have rallied behind the cries of ‘Genocide of Muslims in India’ so that the global attention is diverted away from their egregious antics and Hindus could be blamed for their concocted fiction of Muslim genocide in India.

How paranoid claims of of Muslims under attack had fuelled India’s partition

As such, the cries of “Genocide of Muslims in India” is not a recent phenomenon. They have a history that dates back to before the partition of India, when proponents of the two-nation theory stoked such unfounded fears to polarise the country and justify their demands of carving out a separate Muslim-majority country out of undivided India. Back then, the Islamists argued that Muslims were not safe in a Hindu-majority India, citing various riots that broke out in the country, which were, in reality, a result of provocative statements made by their own leaders belonging to the Muslim League.

The secessionist ideology of Islamists was also on display during the Khilafat movement in 1919, when the Muslims of the time took to streets to protest against the sanctions against the Caliph and the Ottoman Empire. At that time, as is now, it was evident that the Muslim allegiance lay towards the Ummah, which says that all Muslims across the globe form one nation. It is their allegiance to the Ummah that led them to fight for the Turkish Caliph.

At that time, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi had, serendipitously for the Muslims, supported the Khilafat movement in the hope that the Muslims would join hands with the Hindus eventually and fight against the British, leading to everlasting brotherhood and peace between the Muslims and Hindus. What transpired was vastly different from what Gandhi had imagined. The Malabar genocide of Hindus followed, where Hindus were brutally massacred by the Moplah Muslims.

However, far from acknowledging the massacre of Hindus that Khilafat movement brought in its wake, the Muslim League leaders blamed Hindus for not wholeheartedly supporting the movement which had eventually fizzled out in the face of British obstinacy. The Muslim League leaders while batting for dismemberment of India had then sowed distrust and misgivings among Muslims about their future in India, which eventually led them to join the cause of Pakistan and bring about the vivisection of India.

Lok Sabha bypoll in Asansol: TMC workers attack BJP’s convoy in presence of Bengal Police, Agnimitra Paul contests against Shatrughan Sinha

On Tuesday, violence broke out in the Asansol district of West Bengal as BJP’s convoy was attacked in presence of the West Bengal Police. Agnimitra Paul, who is a BJP candidate from the Asansol parliamentary constituency alleged that TMC workers attacked the BJP workers and hurled stones at the BJP convoy. She also said the TMC workers attacked in presence of the West Bengal Police, who didn’t take any steps to pacify the situation.

“TMC people thrashed our security with bamboo sticks. No matter how hard Mamata Banerjee tries, BJP is winning here”, said Agnimitra Paul on April 12 amid the Lok Sabha by-poll to Asansol.

She slammed the Mamata-led government for not allowing the BJP’s polling agent inside the polling center at the behest of the West Bengal police. “A West Bengal police personnel is standing there and is not letting him enter. TMC is trying to ensure that the polling agent does not enter the booth. After coming here, I ensured that the polling agent is given entry. I will go wherever a complaint is received”, she was quoted.

Meanwhile, Paul also attacked Banerjee for her comments on the Nadia minor rape and murder case. “I am ashamed that being a woman and CM of the state Mamata Banerjee made such comments”, Paul said. On April 11, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee downplayed the brutal rape and murder of a 14-year-old girl in Nadia’s Hanskhali village and said that everyone was aware of the girl’s love affair, so one is left to wonder here whether it was an actual rape or a pregnancy that went wrong.

Banerjee had said in Bengali, “As a layman, I am saying where would someone get the evidence whether she was actually raped or was she pregnant or was there any other reason, like someone beat her up or she died of some illness. There was a love affair for sure, her family knew about it, and their neighbors also knew about it. Now if a girl and a boy love each other, I cannot punish them. This is not Uttar Pradesh that I can do that in the name of Love Jihad”. Reportedly, Mamata Banerjee recorded her statement after a TMC leader’s son has been named as the accused in the case.

As the voting for the by-election to the Asansol Parliamentary constituency is underway, TMC and BJP are levelling charges against each other. While Agnimitra Paul is fighting from BJP, the TMC has fielded actor-cum-politician Shatrughan Sinha for the Asansol seat. TMC’s Abhishek Banerjee who campaigned for Sinha on April 9 had stated that his car was attacked many times in the past and that the ‘Khela’ had now started in Asansol.

While around 15 lakh voters are estimated to cast their votes today, tight security arrangements have been directed at the 2012 voting booths in Asansol. According to the reports, 680 out of 2012 booths in Asansol have been identified as sensitive. The voting will end at 6:30 pm on April 12.

‘Mamata Banerjee does not deserve to be Chief Minister if she is so indifferent to rape’: Delhi gangrape victim Nirbhaya’s mother

0

In response to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s remark in a rape and murder case of a 14-year-old girl in Nadia district, the mother of Delhi gang-rape victim Nirbhaya has stated that Mamata Banerjee does not deserve to be a Chief Minister. Mamata Banerjee dismissed the rape allegations against the son of a TMC leader by saying that who knows whether it was rape or she was pregnant due to a love affair.

“She does not deserve the CM post if she is making such comments about a victim who has been violated,” Nirbhaya’s mother said. “Being a woman, if she is making such comments, it does not suit the post that she is holding,” she further added.

Mamata Banerjee downplayed the alleged rape and murder of a 14-year-old girl in Nadia’s Hanskhali village by a TMC leader’s son. On the afternoon of April 11, she spoke at the launch of the revamped Milan Mela, casting doubt on the rape aspect of the crime. She added that because everyone was aware of the girl’s love affair, one is left to wonder if it was a rape or a pregnancy gone bad.

She said in Bengali, “As a layman, I am saying where would someone get the evidence whether she was actually raped or was she pregnant or was there any other reason like someone beat her up or she died of some illness. There was a love affair for sure, her family knew about it, and their neighbours also knew about it. Now if a girl and a boy love each other, I cannot punish them.”

“This is not Uttar Pradesh that I can do that in the name of Love Jihad,” she further added. She went on to accuse the media of politicising the situation in order to defame the state.

Such words, as Nirbhaya’s mother said, encourage crimes like this, have an impact on victims, and encourage those who commit such crimes. Such politicians are just concerned about their vote banks. “There should be a proper investigation in the case and the guilty should be punished,” she said.

Hanskhali rape and murder case

The Son of a Trinamool Congress leader is accused of raping a young girl by inviting her to his birthday celebration. The girl died of severe bleeding, and her corpse was allegedly forcibly cremated by the accused. The incident happened on April 4th in the Shyamnagar region of Gajna gram panchayat in Nadia’s Hanskhali block number one.

Brajgopal, the accused, is the son of Gajna Gram Panchayat member Samar Gowla. The girl, a Bogula resident, was invited to Brajgopal’s home for his birthday party on April 4, where she was reportedly gang-raped by a group of people, and her body was forcibly cremated after she died while being treated in the hospital.

In addition, a Public Interest Litigation has been filed in the Calcutta High Court, seeking a CBI investigation in the case.

Congress leader Digvijaya Singh booked, FIR filed for sharing unrelated image to show Muslims as victim a day after Ram Navami processions were attacked in MP

On April 12, former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and Congress leader Digvijay Singh published an image in which some person could be seen hoisting a saffron flag atop a structure. He depicted as if the photograph was Khargone, where Muslim mob had pelted stones on Ram Navami procession that led to riots.

Now-deleted misleading tweet by former MP CM Digvijay Singh

In his tweet, Digvijay wrote, “Is it right to hoist the flag at a religious place while donning swords and batons? Did the Khargone administration allow them to carry weapons during the procession? Will the houses of all those who pelted stones be bulldozed irrespective of their religion? Do not forget Shivraj Ji, you took an oath to run a secular government.”

CM Shivraj refuted Digvijay’s claims

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan refuted the claims made by Digvijay and said the photograph shared by him was not from Madhya Pradesh. In a video statement, he said, “Today, former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Digvijay Singh shared the tweet of flag hoisting at a religious place. It was not from Madhya Pradesh.”

He added, “He conspired to create religious unrest in the state. He attempted to push the state into communal riots. I will not forgive anyone who tried to cause communal riots in my state.”

He also tweeted on the matter and said such attempts to cause communal riots would not be tolerated.

Soon after his tweet, Digvijay deleted the photograph. Interestingly, he did not mention anywhere that the photograph he shared was unrelated and neither did he apologize for the same till the time this report was published.

The photograph was from Bihar

According to journalist Utkarsh Singh, the incident took place in district Muzaffarpur’s village Muhammadpur.

One more video from Bihar had gone viral.

SSP Jayant Kant said in a statement that in both the cases, the accused were identified and police teams were formed, and further investigation was underway to arrest the accused.

As per latest reports, an FIR has been filed against Digvijay Singh for spreading false information over the communal violence in Khargone by sharing an unrelated image and false claims.

Center orders probe after 40 electric scooters by Jitendra Electric caught fire in a transport container in Nashik

0

The Central Government has ordered a probe into the case of 40 electric scooters from Jitendra Electric Vehicles catching fire in Nashik. The Centre has roped in experts from various institutions in the country as part of the investigation.

On Monday, April 11, an incident of forty Electric two-wheeler vehicles manufactured by Jitendra Electric catching fire in Nashik came to light. The vehicles were being loaded onto a transport truck when they suddenly caught fire, during which no fatalities were reported. However, taking cognizance of the fire, which is touted as the largest EV-catching-fire incident in India as of now, the Central government has now ordered a probe into the incident.

Reportedly, representatives from the Indian Institute of Science, NSTL Vizag and the Centre for Fire, Explosive and Environment Safety (CFEES) will be part of the Centre’s investigation team in Nashik. Apart from this, the company has also launched a private investigation into the matter.

The case of EVs catching fire in Nashik is the sixth such incident in the country in recent times. Amidst the growing trend of electric vehicles, issues over their security have become a grave concern. Investigative activities have started after similar incidents broke out in Pune, Vellore and Trichy.

According to CNBC-TV18, the government now wants to do a comprehensive review of the EV ecosystem in the country. The Ministry of Roadways has already ordered officials of Okinawa and Ola EV for a presentation on the EV fire incidents. According to sources, EV companies will be reviewed on the basis of testing, manufacturing, storage standards, and transportation.

“Safety being of prime importance, we are investigating the root cause and will soon come out with the findings,” said a spokesperson for Jitendra EV while reacting to the fire incident. In his earlier address in the Lok Sabha, Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari spoke in length about the issue of the safety of EVs. “This is a very serious issue and we have ordered a forensic investigation into each individual event,” he added.

Experts have counted the rise in temperatures during summer as one of the main reasons behind the EV batteries catching fire. Besides this, poor battery designs are also being blamed.

Hindu families leave their houses two days after Ram Navami procession was attacked by Muslim mob in Gujarat’s Himmatnagar: Reports

In a new development, it has been learnt that the Hindu population in Himmatnagar’s Vanzara Vaas area is vacating their homes following a threat to life out of communal violence. This comes two days after Ram Navami, when on April 10, a Muslim mob attacked and pelted stones at a celebratory procession led by Hindu groups in a Muslim ghetto in the city.

It has been reported that minority Hindus living in the Muslim dominated Vanzara Vaas area are leaving their homes who all happen to be from poor schedule caste backgrounds. Nearly 70 to 80 households have been made direct victims of the clashes that broke in the area on the eve of Ram Navami. Unrest and tensions have marked the area after a prolonged two-hour stone-pelting by local Muslim groups from neighbouring Channagar have terrorised the local Hindu population.

According to a local, even petrol bombs were hurled during the violence from the Muslim side. He added that having a steel roof over his house – instead of a cement one saved the lives of his family from the petrol bomb attacks. Around 200 Hindu residents of the Vanzara Vaas area share the same sentiment, after being terrorised by the tense situation that prevails even today.

Another local resident said that following the violence, those who could have left their homes but those who have nowhere to go are now staying there in constant fear. Some even took refuge in local temple and stayed up without food and water amid the violence.

Another local resident said, “We are just 60-70 families while they (Muslims) are about 2,000 families. We can’t match up to them or protect when they attack. Which is why we are leaving.” Some local residents also said that even the police parties were attacked with stones.

Another local resident alleged foul play in the investigation. He added that unjust custody of Hindus is being taken by police officials instead of giving them protection. A woman has alleged that fans and gas cylinders were taken away from her home and shops in another instance of stone pelting that happened in the Hindu locality on the night of April 11. The Police has detained four people after the fresh incidence of stone pelting that took place on Monday night.

As per local residents even petrol bombs were hurled at them by the mob later in the evening and night.

Stone pelting on Ram Navami celebrations

On April 10, when the country witnessed a series of attacks on Hindu processions across cities on the occasion of Ram Navami, Gujarat’s Himmatnagar witnessed similar violence too. A Ram Navami Shobha Yatra was attacked and targeted by a group of local Muslim goons and stones were pelted at it. Reports suggest that some vehicles were also vandalized in this incident. The intention behind the attack was revealed, when the Hindu religious procession was attacked after it reached the Muslim dominated area of Chhapariya.

Several men, including those in the uniform, were injured while many vehicles were burnt during the prolonged stone-pelting which the area witnessed on April 10.
