From LeT, Al-Qaeda to ISIS terrorists: The sordid history of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind of extending legal aid to terror-accused

Within hours after the special court in Ahmedabad announced the death penalty to 38 Islamic terrorists and granted life imprisonment to 11 others for their role in the 2008 Ahmedabad bomb blast case, the notorious Deoband-based radical Islamic organisation Jamiat Ulema-e Hind has already rejected the verdict saying that the decision of the special court is unbelievable.

Maulana Arshad Madani, the President of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, said that “the decision of the special court is unbelievable, we will go to the High Court against the punishment and continue the legal battle”.

Maulana Madani stated that the country’s top lawyers would fight tooth and nail to protect the criminals from being hanged. “We are confident that the High Court will deliver complete justice to these individuals,” said the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind chief.

Well, this is not the first time that the radical Islamic terrorist organisation is coming to the rescue of the terrorists or the terror-accused. It constantly provides such legal support to Muslims accused in terrorism cases.

Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind (JUH), one of the most influential and the largest Islamic organisations, has provided such legal support to Muslims accused of terrorism cases for over a decade now.

Jamiat defends terror-accused, says it is its duty to fight for people who are falsely implicated

The Islamic organisation defends its actions, saying that they provide legal services to those “innocent Muslims” who are falsely implicated. The legal cell, set up by JUH president Maulana Arshad Madani in 2007, takes up the cases and enlists lawyers to defend the terror accused in the courts.

According to a New Indian Express report, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind has offered its services to around 700 accused. What is worrying about such interventions is that they have been able to get acquittals of at least 192 terror accused since 2007.

Most of the acquittals have not come because they were found innocent; instead, they were being released due to technicality or lack of evidence or because of the poor investigation by the police.

The 7/11 Mumbai train blasts, the 2006 Malegaon blasts and the Aurangabad Arms cases were some of the initial cases that were taken up by the JUH legal cell. Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind had also defended the accused in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks case, the 2011 Mumbai triple blasts case, Mulund blast case, Gateway of India blasts case.

From Al-Qaeda terrorists, Lashkar-e-Taiba to ISIS: The clients of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind

On its website, the JUH has listed the terror-related cases it is fighting on behalf of the accused Muslims.

In 2013, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind had provided free legal aid to Indian Mujahedeen terrorist Mirza Himayat Baig, who was accused in the German Bakery bomb blast case. The Indian Mujahideen terrorist was sentenced to death by a Pune court on April 18, 2013, along with co-accused Yasin Bhatkal.

Some of the other cases in which Jamiat has come forward to provide legal aid to terror-accused:

  • Lashkar Connection Case (Abdul Rahman V/s State SLP)
  • ISIS conspiracy case Kochi (State of Kerala v/s Arshi Qureshi & others)
  • ISIS conspiracy case Mumbai (Arshi Qurashi & others v/s State of Maharashtra)
  • ISIS conspiracy case (State of Rajasthan v/s Sirajuddin)
  • 26/11 Mumbai attack case (Syed Zabiuddin v/s State of Maharashtra)
  • Chinnaswamy Stadium Bomb Blast Case (State V/s Qatil Siddiqui and others)
  • Jungli Maharaj Road Pune Bomb blast case (A.T.S. v/s Asad Khan & others)
  • Indian Mujahideen Case (Maharashtra VS Afzal Usmani & others)
  • Zaveri Bazar Serial Blast (State v/s Azaz Shaikh and others)
  • SIMI conspiracy case (Madhya Pradesh) State V/S Irfan Muchale & others)
  • Jama Masjid Blast Case (Delhi State V/s Qateel Siddqui Others)
  • Indian Mujahideen conspiracy case (State vs. Yasin Bhatkal & others) Ahmedabad Serial Blast Case 2008 (State V/s Jahid & Others)

In addition to supporting the terror-accused, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind had recently stoked a controversy by extending all possible legal and financial aid to the killers of Hindu leader Kamlesh Tiwari, who was brutally assassinated in his office in Lucknow. The Jamiat had said that it is willing to bear all the legal costs and had also offered the head of their legal cell to defend the five accused in the Kamlesh Tiwari murder.

In June last year, the Deoband-based organisation had also deputed its lawyers to defend alleged Al-Qaeda terrorists in Uttar Pradesh. The organisation had declared that it would provide legal assistance to the two terror suspects.

Now, it has yet again come to the rescue of 49 terrorists, who have been convicted for planning and executing 21 bomb blasts in Ahmedabad that killed nearly 56 innocent people.

Well, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind has every right to defend convicts and accused that it perceives were implicated on false charges. However, when it jumps to the rescue of those charged with terrorism, including convicts who have a watertight case against them, it is essentially sending a message to all radical elements that no matter what, they will continue to support them regardless of their culpability.

Karnataka: FIR filed against 10 girls in Tumkur for staging protests against hijab ban amid section 144 restrictions

0

On Friday, the Karnataka Police registered an FIR against at least 10 Muslim students who had protested on February 16 against the hijab ban outside the Girls Empress Govt PU College in Tumkur. The FIR was registered based on an official complaint by the Principal of the college for violating prohibitory orders issued under Section 144 of CrPC by staging a public protest.

The Muslim girl students on Wednesday had yelled ‘Allah-hu-Akbar, Allah-hu-Akbar’ slogans as they walked down on the streets against the college after they were asked to remove the burqa and hijab they were wearing before entering the college premises in accordance with the Karnataka High Court’s interim decision.

The High Court last week had declared that nobody would dress up in religious attire in the educational institutes until the matter was being heard. The women were seen wearing hijab and burqa even after the HC’s order and kept on protesting for ‘justice’ as the colleges reopened on February 16.

The Karnataka govt had imposed section 144 in Tumkur district ahead of the college reopening in order to prevent violence. The prohibitory order applied in and around 200 meters from the college in Tumkur. The students demanding their right to wear hijab and attend classes were seen creating high drama in the college premises amid the hijab row.

The development came days after Karnataka Home Minister warned the hijab lobby and said that strict action will be taken if protests favouring hijab continue in the state of Karnataka. He stated that there would be no soft approach towards the students anymore.

The Hijab protests in Karnataka started in the month of January when some students of Government Girls PU college in Udupi alleged that they had been barred from attending classes. During the protests, some students claimed they were denied entry into the college for wearing hijab. Later, the pre-University education board had released a circular stating that students can wear only the uniform approved by the school administration.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka High Court while hearing various pleas challenging a ban on hijab in the state issued an appeal to the student community and the public at large to maintain peace and tranquility. The FIR by the Girls Empress Govt PU college in Tumkur has charged the Muslim protesters under Sections 143, 145, 188 and 149 of IPC.

Stolen motorcycle recovered near Seemapuri house where IED was found, was used to plant IED at Ghazipur market last month: Delhi police

0

Delhi Police Special Cell officers associated with the investigation related to IED recovered in Seemapuri on Thursday and in Ghazipur last month have confirmed that a motorcycle has been found parked in the parking lot of Dilshad Garden metro station, near the four-storey building in Old Seemapuri from where the IED was recovered and destroyed on Thursday, 17th February 2022. This motorcycle, which was stolen in the year 2020, the officials suspect, was used by the persons who allegedly planted the improvised explosive device (IED) at the Ghazipur Flower Market on January 14.

The discovery, according to officers, has highlighted a direct link between the two IEDs, and police are now investigating if local support was provided to a “Pakistan-backed terror outfit” that allegedly plotted terror attacks across Delhi.

Delhi Police establish links between IEDs recovered in Seemapuri and Ghaziabad flower market

Soon after the IED was recovered from a locked room on the second floor of the Old Seemapuri building, that was left in a bag similar to the one found with an explosive device in Ghazipur, the Shahdara police conducted a search in the area, and it was then they who discovered an unclaimed motorbike parked in a lane near the building, according to a senior police officer.

“The same motorcycle was captured by CCTV cameras at the Ghazipur flower market. Two suspects were seen riding the bike and carrying the IED bag, which they placed near gate number 1 of the flower market. The Shahdara police alerted the special cell officers who are investigating the IED case and handed over the motorcycle to them for further probe,” said the senior officer who did not wish to be named.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana said on Friday, that the recovered IEDs were created with the aim of carrying out blasts in public locations and added that such planning and execution would be impossible without local assistance.

“We are trying to pre-empt any such incident in Delhi and expose all local and foreign networks,” Asthana said, adding that the IEDs recovered from Ghazipur and Old Seemapuri also appeared similar.

IED containing ammonium nitrate and RDX recovered from a house in Seemapuri

The Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was recovered by the Delhi police special cell and a bomb squad from the Seemapuri area of Delhi on 17th February 2022 in the evening. The police had received a call in the afternoon about a suspicious bag near a house in the Seemapuri area, after which the teams had rushed to the spot. NSG was also called to examine the contents of the bag.

This IED recovered days before the second anniversary of the Delhi riots against CAA that took place on 25th February 2020, is seen in connection with the 3 KG of IED that was found on 17th January 2022 in the Ghazipur mandi area.

It may be recalled that the Delhi Police, which has been probing into the improvised explosive device (IED) recovered from the Ghazipur flower market on Friday, January 14 had revealed on January 17 that the explosive was part of the 24 bombs shipment that was sent to Pakistan backed terrorist sleeper cells or criminal gangs by the terror state of Pakistan. The cache was sent either through land or via a sea route, said a Delhi police officer.

According to reports, these IEDs were smuggled across the border to Indian sleeper modules and criminal gangs. This IED recovery has been linked to a terror module that had connections with Dawood Ibrahim and was busted by Delhi Police in September 2021, with arrests in Mumbai, Lucknow, Allahabad, and Delhi.

Sadhguru’s Conscious Planet is not merely a movement, it is an urgent need of the hour to tackle Climate Change

There is no need for legislation or a proclamation on any international platform to make everyone aware of the reality of climate change and environmental degradation. Congestion in the chest when walking a few kilometres in the early winters and regular diarrhoea during the monsoons are the best interactions between the human population and the rapidly changing climate.

The human demeanour towards the environment has been the only determinant as a factor that has brought us to this point, where the number of deaths due to climate change will surpass the number of deaths due to homicides in a few decades from now. It is adjuratory upon us as occupants of this entire planet to realize how perfidious we have been to other species of creation and future generations of the human race, who were destined to inherit a planet suitable for life and prosperity.

Conscious Planet is a Global Movement, launched by Isha Foundation that is led by global spiritual leader Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, that promotes a more conscious attitude to the soil and the planet. The movement aims to demonstrate to governments throughout the world that their population desires a strategy that rejuvenates soil and ecosystem.

People from across the world, constituting eminent intellectuals, leaders, scientists, and other celebrities have joined hands “to restore the soil and rekindle humanity’s relationship with Mother Earth.”

The movement’s sole purpose is to mobilize wits and funds to make people comprehend the need for soil protection at this juncture. In this piece, I’ll accentuate how important this movement is, as well as its connection to Indian culture, which has historically served as a torchbearer for everything that seeks to promote equity, inclusivity, and prosperity.

Why soil?

The Movement has prioritized soil over the other aspects since it is the most fundamental component of the entire ecosystem. Anything, whether it’s water or flora, is inextricably linked and engaged with soil. Furthermore, other parts of the ecosystem, such as air and water, have received far more attention than soil. Everything has been dubbed into some form of air or water pollution but the soil is the one which has been considered the least.

The soil is not only a component of the ecosystem; it is, in fact, the foundation of life on our planet. The habitat we live in and the food we consume are only possible because the earth serves as a resource and a medium. It serves as a resource for us to cultivate vegetables while also acting as a medium for water purification and atmospheric air fixation. Life would not have been as easy, or even possible if this had not been existent.

Degradation of Soil

The soil which we are talking about just constitutes a small fraction of the earth’s crust and that too is not completely fertile. Total fertile land accounts for around 38% of the total land area on the planet, with just 11% being agriculturally cultivable and the remainder consisting of meadows and pastures.

Soil is a finite commodity, which means that its loss and deterioration cannot be recovered during a handful of decades. The rates of soil erosion are substantially higher than the rates of soil formation. Soil erosion and land degradation pose a significant threat to global food security and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), jeopardizing the well-being of at least 3.2 billion people worldwide.

According to a Food and Agriculture Organization research, around 20% of the planet’s vegetated area shows deteriorating production trends, with fertility losses due to erosion and degradation. It also states that by 2050, agricultural yields might be reduced by 10% globally and can go up to 50% in some countries due to pollution and environmental degradation.

According to another study conducted by the Indian Space Research Organization, roughly 24 billion tonnes of rich soil and 27,000 bio-species are lost globally each year. Through these researches and studies, we come to know that more than 50 per cent of the total fertile land has already eroded. There is literally nothing that we can do about half of the entire fertile land. What we are left with is just an option to conserve the rest of the land and give time to the other half to rejuvenate on its own. Now we can and should only strive to act for a conscious planet that is inhabitable and can be inherited by our coming generations.

Land degradation status in India. (ISRO)

Our attitude towards soil is the fundamental factor in its deterioration. Since the dawn of the Industrial Revolution, we have begun to regard everything as an asset or a commodity. Everything that has any value or is of any use to us is being exploited en masse, without regard for other values that may be profoundly associated with it.

India as the torchbearer

This movement’s beginning in India is neither a coincidence nor a depiction of the generous behaviour of Indians. For millennia, India has been the torchbearer for what is now known as sustainable development. India is a champion when it comes to living in peace with the environment. The way Indians have lived for thousands of years while protecting all natural resources and causing no harm to biodiversity is exemplary.

Pollution, which has caused major harm and a negligent attitude towards the environment, is not traceable to any traditional Indian practice but has been foisted on everyone by the western world in its ambition to become the wealthiest among all. The consequences of the western quest for omnipotence and omnipresence are what we are seeing today, as resources being exploited in the name of development, and native concepts that did not harm the environment but rather propagated the concept of optimum existence labelled regressive, obsolete, and useless.

Indigenous Indians’ lifestyle is entrenched with the concept of natural resource preservation and harmless consumption. This growing worldwide movement is part of an effort to let the world recognize that India has the strength to lead the world in environmental conservation.

The Conscious Planet movement

Conscious Planet is an International Movement that promotes a more conscious attitude to the earth and the environment by mobilizing mass participation and local engagement.  Increasing community engagement would guarantee that ecological challenges become public issues allowing governments to adopt policies and set funds for ecological remedies, resulting in long-term execution.

The recognition and endorsement this movement is receiving are commendable. Leaders from across the world have come in solidarity with this Movement. Klaus Schwab, Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum has stated that the World Economic Forum extends its full support to this initiative. Dalai Lama has stated that he is very much impressed by this initiative and is happy that people have come to act for ecology and particularly the Earth.

To succeed in this important, global effort, public support is necessary. The ultimate test of this movement’s success will be whether or not it can bring mankind together as one to protect the planet’s and all life’s futures. The perils of indifference towards the impact Climate Change could have on the planet are catastrophic, most notably witnessed in Europe last year when global warming caused extreme weather patterns, leading to unprecedented floods. Given the steep challenge that Climate Change bears for humanity, it is all the more important for people to unite and spread awareness about all such initiatives, including the Conscious Planet movement, to avert the impending crisis and bequeath a better world to our progenies.

We must come together as a generation in order to protect mother earth and lead a life of content and satisfaction. The crisis is not far from us. It is here and now is the time to act with no delays. The day we are left with nothing to eat, all of us will fall prey to hunger, the hunger of death.

PM Modi hosts prominent Sikh leaders in Delhi, asserts India was not born in 1947

On Friday, Prime Minister Modi hosted a group of prominent Sikh community leaders ahead of the Punjab assembly elections. The Prime Minister met influential Sikh social and spiritual leaders at his official residence at the 7-Lok Kalyan Marg.

As he spoke to the Sikh gurus, Prime Minister Modi recounted how he had always tried to implement the teachings of the Sikh gurus and also recalled the sacrifices made by the Sikh community and religious leaders, mainly against the Mughals.

“India was not born in 1947,” said Prime Minister Narendra Modi, adding, “Our gurus went through so much… We suffered so much oppression during the Emergency. I was underground at that time. I used to wear a Sikh disguise to hide. I used to wear a pagdi”.

During the interaction, he cited the development initiatives carried out by the BJP government for the Sikh community, including opening the Kartarpur corridor, and the safe return of “Guru Granth Sahib” from Afghanistan after the Taliban took over.

PM Modi noted that the Congress government failed to ensure that the Sikh shrine Kartarpur Sahib stayed in India during the partition. Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur, also called Kartarpur Sahib, is a gurdwara in Kartarpur in the Punjab province of Pakistan, around six km from Punjab.

“They could not reach an agreement to bring Kartarpur, which is six km away. So I started talks through the diplomatic channel. When I used to stay in Punjab, I used to look at (Kartarpur Sahib) using binoculars. Then I used to think we have to do something,” PM Modi said.

PM Modi says he is temporary, may retreat to a gurdwara in future

Highlighting the achievements of his government, PM Modi said, “This was such a holy task that with the blessings of Gurus, we did it. What we have done in such a short time, this would not have been possible without devotion”.

“This house is yours … I am just a temporary resident here. I have reached here walking miles, and one day, I will retreat maybe to a gurudwara,” he said as he expressed his deep reverence to the Sikh gurus.

The Sikh gurus presented “Siropa” or robe of honour to PM Modi. The Prime Minister was seen telling his staff not to let the cloth touch the ground.

The PM was seen wearing a “dastar” on the head and “Siropa” on the neck as he served breakfast to the guests. “I am privileged to host all of you, and today is my turn to serve you all,” he said.

Sikh leaders hail praises on PM Modi, calls him a “Sikh”

One of the Sikh leaders spoke on occasion, saying PM Modi was the first prime minister to reach out to every heart. “Modi-Ji’s heart is Sikhs’ heart,” he said.

Mahant Karamjit Singh, the President of Sewapanthi, Yamuna Nagar, praised PM Modi for his contributions to the Sikh religion, adding, “this includes the opening of the Kartarpur corridor, the announcement of December 26 as Veer Baal Divas in memory of Sahibzadas of the 10th Sikh Guru; restoration of Gurdwara Lakhpat Sahib destroyed in the Gujarat earthquake; and waiver of GST waiver on langar, etc. One line he said is very significant to us – he said that ‘I have Sikh in my blood, I have service mind in my blood, and whatever I do, I do it with my heart in it’.”

Harmeet Singh Kalka, President of Delhi Gurdwara Committee, reportedly said, “Today it got clarified the kind of affection the PM has for the community. He has always honoured Sikh sentiments.”

Punjab: Chandigarh DSP files criminal defamation suit against Navjot Singh Sidhu for insulting police with his ‘wet pants’ remark

On Friday, Chandigarh Police DSP Dilsher Singh Chandel filed a criminal defamation plea against Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu for his comments on police personnel. Sidhu, at a political rally in Sultanpur Lodhi in Kapurthala district on December 18 had mocked the Police personnel while he praised Congress MLA Navtej Singh Cheema.

“Navtej was so strong that he could make a police officer wet in his pants and party workers should be like Navtej”, he had said, a video clip of which had gone viral attracting criticism from netizens. The plea has been filed by Chandigarh DSP through advocate Dr Surya Parkash in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate.

According to the reports, the copies of the notice had been sent to all the alternative addresses of Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu, two of which were returned unclaimed with a note, ‘Navjot Singh Sidhu is not here, please don’t send’. However, two have been served upon the purpose.

While the matter is scheduled for hearing on Monday, advocate Dr Surya Prakash said that the criminal defamation plea against Sidhu proceeded as he failed to apologize for his comments even after the notice was issued. “His comments demoralized not even the police personnel but also the personnel of defence services”, he was quoted.

Reports mention that the notice was sent to all his four residential addresses but was served only at two places, the Punjab Congress Bhavan and the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, Punjab.

It is important to note that this is not the first time that DSP Chandel had sent a defamation notice against Sidhu. Earlier, on December 28, he had sent him a defamation notice and called the remarks against the police as humiliating. As Former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Daljit Singh Cheema slammed Sidhu for his comments saying that it was disrespectful for men in uniforms, he issued a clarification saying that the comment was not to be taken literally.

He reportedly repeated the same comment at a rally in Batala while praising local leader Ashwani Sekhri and stated that it’s a way of saying the Congress ‘wields authority’. Chandel, who is attached with the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) of Chandigarh police had also released a video condemning the incident and said that remarks by Sidhu are shameful. “It is very shameful that such a senior leader uses these words for his own force and humiliates them. This is the same force which protects him and his family,” Chandel had said in a video message.

He also had dared Sidhu to return the security detail and affirmed that ‘without security force, even a rickshaw puller will not listen to him’. Navjot Singh Sidhu is all set to fight elections this time from the Amritsar East seat with Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former minister Bikram Majithia contesting on the other side.

The 2022 Legislative Assembly elections will be held in Punjab on February 20 to elect the 117 members of the 16th Assembly of the Punjab Legislative Assembly. The votes will be counted and the results will be declared on March 10.

Karnataka burqa row: Burqa clad teacher resigns after being told to not wear hijab in college

On Wednesday (February 16), a female Muslim teacher tendered her resignation after being allegedly directed by the administration of Jain Pre University College (PUC) in Tumkur in Karnataka to take classes without a hijab.

The teacher, identified as one Chandini, is apparently a Lecturer in the Department of English at the PU college. In a letter to the Principal, she said, “…Resigning from my position of Lecturer of English subject, as you demanded me to remove my Hijab which I have been carrying for 3 years in your college.”

She further claimed, “Right to Religion is a constitutional right which nobody could deny. Thank you. I condemn your undemocratic act.” The development comes amidst the ongoing controversy over the refusal of permission to some female Muslim students to wear a burqa in the classrooms in a Udupi PUC.

Screengrab of the letter by Chandini to Jain PU College Principal

In a video that has now surfaced on social media, a Burqa-clad Chandini could be heard saying that she was not comfortable working without a ‘hijab’ at the Jain PU College. Hijab is a headscarf while burqa (what Chandini is wearing is a full body veil). She added that the Principal had barred teachers from wearing hijab and other religious symbolism to classes. Chandini claimed that it was a matter of ‘self-respect’ and thus tendered her resignation.

It must be mentioned that on February 10, the Karnataka High Court had issued a preliminary ruling in the Hijab row case and instructing students and stakeholders to not wear any religious garments or headdresses till the case is resolved. Meanwhile, OpIndia has reached out to Jain PU College about the matter and is awaiting a response from the administration.

Karnataka hijab controversy

Recently, some Muslim students from the PU College in Karnataka filed a petition in the High Court to allow them to attend classes wearing Hijab. They were denied entry into classes because the college management stated that the hijab is not part of the uniform and it cannot be allowed in classes. Since then, the ‘students’ have been protesting while wearing burqas.

The Muslim students had started wearing hijab and burqa to their school, college in defiance of the uniform rules since December 2021 after coming in touch with the Campus Front of India (CFI), the student wing of the Islamist outfit Popular Front of India (PFI) in October 2021. The students had admitted being in consultation with the CFI.

Rupesh Pandey’s post mortem report reveals cruelty with which he was killed, Jharkhand administration stops people from attending his Shradh

Rupesh Pandey was slain with cruelty, according to the post-mortem report. The slayers struck him in each and every part of his body. On February 6, 2022, he was assassinated by a Muslim mob at Dulmaha village, Barhi police station, Hazaribagh district, Jharkhand. However, the Jharkhand Police refuses to label the incident as a mob lynching.

OpIndia has accessed the copy of Rupesh’s post-mortem report which has revealed gruesome details. According to Dr. Gaurav Sharma, blood clots had developed and internal organs had failed as a result of the damage inflicted upon him. Injury marks were found all over the body, including the eyes, ears, chest, belly, and legs. Strong and heavy items were used in the attack. A sharp weapon has been used against him. Strangulation attempts were made. The ear, neck, and lower sections of the chest all had wounds. On February 7, the day following the murder, the post-mortem was undertaken.

The post-mortem report

This is the same police department that just a few days earlier filed an FIR against individuals who participated in the candle march demanding justice in this case. Then, on his way to see Rupesh’s family, BJP leader Kapil Mishra was detained at the airport. BJP officials who were planning to attend his Shradh have now also been detained. When the victim’s family sits on a dharna seeking justice, the police administration’s attitude has come to the fore.

NCPCR to investigate murder of Rupesh Pandey

Rupesh Pandey’s murder has been reported to the National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR). Priyank Kanoongo, the organization’s chairperson, has announced that he will travel to Hazaribagh on February 20.

According to reports in the media, he has ordered that the team of physicians who conducted Rupesh’s post-mortem be present, as well as Superintendent of Police Hazaribagh, Case Investigator, DCPO, and CWC.

Section 144 imposed

Section 144 has been enforced in the Sadar subdivision by the Hazaribagh administration. The administration has voiced concern about conflicts as a result of processions and sit-in protests by various parties and organizations. On February 16, the Sadar Magistrate in Hazaribagh issued an order to that effect.

The imposition order.

Police stops BJP state president and Member of Parliament

Deepak Prakash, the Jharkhand state head of the BJP, has tweeted that he has been barred from attending Rupesh’s burial. He said on Twitter, “Is Hemant Sarkar opposed to the Indian Constitution? The administration has prevented me from traveling to Hazaribagh for the past three hours, preventing me from attending Rupesh’s Shradh. Furthermore, the authorities (administrative officers) in Charhi have not even shown me a formal order as of yet. It demonstrates Tughlaqi rule.”

Jayant Sinha, a Member of Parliament from the BJP, also uploaded a photo of himself being stopped by the Jharkhand government. “I am with Deepak Prakash ji at the Hazaribagh border,” he wrote. “The Jharkhand government is preventing us from meeting the late Rupesh Pandey’s family members. The state government’s anti-democratic stance is completely unacceptable. The relatives of the victim will continue to fight for justice.” he added.

What is in the FIR?

This mob lynching occurred in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, in the Barhi police station area. Anil Kumar Pandey, the deceased’s uncle, had filed a formal complaint. Rupesh was seated at the shop at 5 PM when several of his friends called to invite him to the Saraswati Puja idol immersion, he said. The date of occurrence of this incident is February 5, 2022 (Sunday). His uncle describes how a Muslim mob led by Aslam Ansari alias Pappu Miyan kidnapped and murdered his nephew.

The accused in this case are – Aslam Ansari, Mohammad Naushad, Mohammad Kaif, Mohammad Gufran, Mohammad Chand, Mohammad Osama, Mohammad Ehtam, Mohammad Zahid, Mohammad Sonu, Mohammad Faisal, Mohammad Shahbaz, Rabbani Miyan, Mohammad Ashiq, Mohammad Jashid, Mohammad Ashiq, Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Salman, Mohammad Irfan, Mohammad Salman alias Bhale, Mohammad Chhote, Mohammad Istekhar, Mohammad Iqbal, Mohammad Hassan, Mohd Anees, and Mohd Naushad.

Many women were also involved in the mob lynching, according to the FIR. “The crowd violently murdered my nephew by jumping on his chest,” it said. ” Some of those there saw that the mob was constantly jumping on my nephew’s chest and hitting him. He was then sent to the sub-divisional hospital. This is a lynching committed by a group of people from a certain community. All of the persons engaged in this occurrence, both unknown and named, should face legal consequences.” it added.

Congress leader arrested in Telangana for stealing a donkey

Telangana’s Karimnagar police have arrested Venkat Balmoor, the president of the Telangana National Students’ Union of India and a Congress leader, on charges of donkey theft. The arrest was made on February 18, Friday. The Congress leader has been accused of stealing the same donkey he used in a rally against Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao on his birthday on February 17, Thursday.

A complaint was lodged against the Congress leader at Jammikunta Police Station in Karimnagar on Friday. In the complaint, six other individuals had also been named but they are absconding.

Based on the complaint, the Congress leader was arrested and charged for unlawful assembly, provocation with intent to cause riot, theft and showing cruelty to animals. The FIR was booked under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 143, 153, 504, 379 read with 149, Section 67 of IT Act and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.

Venkat Balmoor was detained following a protest at Karimnagar’s Satavahana University.

According to reports, the NSUI president celebrated Telangana Chief Minister KCR’s birthday by putting KCR’s picture on a donkey’s face outside Satavahana University. The ruling party leaders approached the police based on this.

“For ruining the lives of farmers, students and unemployed youth. For false promises, fake propaganda,” Balmoor had tweeted with images of a donkey on KCR’s birthday.

Balmoor and the other accused were allegedly protesting the lack of government jobs in the state by putting an image of KCR on the donkey. The Congress leader had recently contested the Huzurabad bypolls.

Reacting to his arrest, senior Congress leader Manickam Tagore said, “Unbelievable by KCR garu, how crazy when the power goes into your head you can put false cases against a student leader. No words to condemn the misuse of power by Telangana first Hitler.”

Telangana Congress chief Revanth Reddy also condemned the “illegal” arrest of the leader. What else can you expect from Telangana police under KCR’s rule…?! he Tweeted.

The Congress party called a protest on the occasion of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief and Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao’s birthday on Thursday, February 17.
