How paranoia over Bajrang Dal rally in Haryana’s ‘Mini Pakistan’ is an attempt by Islamists to shield culprits of anti-Hindu atrocities

Earlier this month, Bajrang Dal, an activist group championing the cause of Hindus organised a peaceful rally in Haryana’s Mewat region, to mark their protest against the continuous atrocities faced by Hindus from miscreants allegedly belonging to the Muslim majority of Mewat, a region known as “Mini Pakistan” because of the prevalence of abductions, rapes, forced conversions and murders of the minority Hindus.

All the requisite permissions for the rally, which was organised on December 12, were sought from the police in advance so as to ensure that the law of the land was respected, unlike the anti-CAA protests and farmers’ protests, which were carried out even when the police had explicitly denied them permission or in some cases, without even bothering to inform law enforcement officials about their planned rally.

OpIndia contacted Haryana Police to confirm if they had granted Bajrang Dal permission to organise a rally in Mewat. The police affirmed that necessary approvals were sought for the saffron rally in Mewat’s Nuh. In fact, the police also confirmed that the rally was completely peaceful and no untoward incident was reported.

Yet, a malicious campaign of vilifying Bajrang Dal and its activists is underway on social media, spearheaded by Islamists and their sympathisers online, in conjunction with Maktoob Media, a far-leftist media organisation known for shielding radical leftists and watering down atrocities committed by them.

Meer Faisal, a journalist associated with Maktoob Media, posted a series of tweets to insinuate that the Bajrang Dal rally organised in Mewat’s Nuh was an attempt to stoke passions and drive a wedge between Hindus and Muslims in the region. In his Twitter thread, Faisal shared a clip of Bajrang Dal member Jeet Vashisth, stating that it was from the December 12 rally.

Faisal also claimed that Jai Shree Ram slogans were raised in front of Muslim households and that the rally was carried out with over 500 cars filled with “Hindutva supporters” who had entered the area to saffronise Mewat’s Nuh. Faisal then goes on to make a series of insinuations to suggest that the rally organised by Bajrang Dal had ulterior motives, even though the police said no inappropriate occurrence was reported during the demonstrations.

Even as Maktoob Media scaremongered over Bajrang Rally in Nuh, Bajrang Dal member Jeet Vashisth in his video said that he had been receiving threatening messages and messages warning him that it was not safe to enter Mewat. “We are not as weak as you (Muslims) think. We are not scared of your messages and comments,” he said. But as expected, these nuggets of information were conspicuously missing from the report published in Maktoob Media.

Islamists and their sympathisers go on an overdrive to wrongly accuse Bajrang Dal of fanning communal hatred

Soon after the Maktoob Media report was published and Faisal posted a Twitter thread to scaremonger over the Bajrang Dal rally in Nuh, a host of Islamists and left-leaning ‘liberals’ came out in the support of the leftist media organisation in its efforts to malign the Hindu group and accuse them of inciting discord in society.

And since there was no untoward incident reported in the rally organised by the Bajrang Dal, Islamists and their supporters took offence at the mere notion of the Hindu activist group showing the temerity of organising a protest rally and standing up for the rights and safety of minority Hindus. The report by the Maktoob Media and Islamists asserted that Bajrang Dal’s rally tried to trigger discord between Hindus and Muslims, just because it was organised in a Muslim-dominated region, and chants of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ slogans were made during the rally.

So, they presided over stoking paranoia about the Bajrang Dal’s rally and peddling unfounded fears, possibly in an attempt to discourage more such rallies in future. The Bajrang Dal rally was aimed at voicing the concerns of the aggrieved Hindus who felt intimidated, wronged, and oppressed by the Muslim-majority of the region, something which has even been reaffirmed by a committee headed by former Justice Pawan Kumar on Muslim atrocities against Hindus in Mewat.

Therefore, the deliberate and wanton fearmongering over the Bajrang Dal rally in Mewat’s Nuh appeared like an orchestrated attempt to besmirch the Hindu activist group, and an exercise possibly aimed to create a smokescreen to cover up the rising Muslim fundamentalism in the region and shield culprits of hate crimes from being brought to reckoning. The Islamists were, perhaps, worried that the Bajrang Dal’s group rally would be a harbinger to Hindu awakening in the region against the atrocities committed against them on account of their religion.

Also, according to Maktoob Media and its supporters, a Hindu organisation automatically becomes guilty of fanning communal hatred by simply organising a peaceful rally in a Muslim-dominated region. Moreover, chanting of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ slogans in Muslim-dominated regions is branded as an attempt to provoke Muslims. These are astonishing claims, given that India is a ‘secular’, ‘democratic’ country, and any organisation has the right to organise protest rallies anywhere across the country. The Islamists are projecting a false motive of “spreading communal hatred” to show the Bajrang Dal in a negative light. Something as basic as organising a rally or wearing one’s religion on his sleeve by chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ is branded as a communal provocation aimed at creating a divide in the society.

Ironically, these are the same folks who routinely cite the ‘secular’, ‘democratic’ nature of India’s constitution to argue that Muslims have the right to pray in open spaces even though it inconveniences fellow Hindus and non-Muslims, or mosques should have loudspeakers for azaan regardless of disturbance it causes to non-Muslims. The dishonesty of the Left in fearmongering over the Bajrang Dal rally in Haryana’s Mewat is staggeringly duplicitous, and it stems from the problematic antecedents of the place.

Haryana’s Mewat known as “Mini Pakistan” for the prevalence of abductions, molestation, forced conversions and murders of Hindus

Haryana’s Mewat earned its moniker as “Mini Pakistan” for the rampant abductions, rapes, murders, forced conversions and other crimes committed against Hindus. In June 2020, Former Justice Pawan Kumar likened Mewat to Pakistan, stating that there was no difference between the two. Kumar, who headed an investigation team to probe the atrocities inflicted on Hindus and Dalits in Haryana’s Mewat, declared that Hindus and other communities in the region lived under perpetual fear of being targeted by the region’s Muslim majority.

The findings of the team also revealed that the molestation of girls and women had become pervasive all over Mewat, which has caused problems for girls to continue their studies. “A 12-year girl was raped by 4 Muslims and the house where the rape took place was of one of the Muslim cops,” the press release by former Justice Pawan Kumar’s team said. No action was taken against the perpetrators.

Furthermore, the statement also cited an instance from Freozpur Namak where 9 Muslims allegedly raped a woman for several days after forcibly abducting her. The press release stated that no action was taken against the complaint filed and the abductors killed the woman four days later.

Besides, more than 200 cases of forced conversions had allegedly taken place in the region, the team headed by former justice Pawan Kumar said. The committee also added that because of police inaction, the perpetrators have been emboldened and pressure is being mounted on the family members of those forcibly converted to get them converted as well.

Besides, the cremation grounds of Hindus, including Dalits, were also encroached upon. Dalits were abducted and assaulted by Muslims. Attacks on Dalits asking for the refund of the burrowed sum to the Muslims had become a common occurrence. Reportedly, Dalit weddings have also been attacked and looted. There were also instances where brides were kidnapped.

Islamists resort to unwarranted vilification of Bajrang Dal to draw a veil over criminal atrocities commited by Muslims in Mewat

It is these atrocities committed against Hindus that Bajrang Dal sought to highlight through its rally in Haryana’s Mewat. It was a message of reassurance to the beleaguered Hindus in the region that they are not alone in their fight against continuous persecution, and that there is an organisation willing to stand for their rights and safety. It was also a stark warning to the miscreants in the region, who have for long gone unpunished and felt emboldened to continue committing atrocities in absence of police action against them.

It is worth noting that there was no rioting, no violence, no incidents of vandalism or arson in the rally organised by the Bajrang Dal, a far cry from the demonstrations and protests conducted by the Left supporters and Islamists, for whom indulging in violence and causing anarchy is second nature. The violent riots witnessed during the anti-CAA protests, or more recently during the farmers’ protests, is a testament to the barbaric tendencies of the Left. By contrast, the Bajrang Dal rally was concluded peacefully, with no reported violations of law and order during the demonstrations.

Yet, the Islamists and the far-left organisation Maktoob Media resorted to spreading unfounded fears about the Bajrang Dal rally. The only plausible explanation for this perversity is that the Left and the Islamists want Hindus to meekly endure brutalities committed against them without raising their voice against their continuous persecution. They don’t want Hindus to draw the nation’s attention towards the ongoing atrocities meted out on them because doing so would directly implicate the region’s Muslim majority population. Therefore, an insidious attempt is undertaken to paint aggressors as victims and victims as aggressors so that prevailing lawlessness could be attributed to assertive Hindus while real culprits could be absolved of their crimes.

Chandigarh Police has filed a complaint against Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu after he made defamatory comments against police in a political rally. Addressing an election rally in Punjab today, Sidhu mocked the police and told his party workers to make ‘cops wet their pants’.

This prompted a strongly worded statement, Dilsher Singh Chandel condemned the Congress leader for his comments against police. He said that it very unfortunate that such a senior leader is making such a shameful comment, and said that it is not correct to defame the police which protects everyone.

‘Without police protection, even a rickshaw puller will not listen to his speech’, DSP Chandel said slamming Sidhu.

He further said that if Sidhu has some complaints with police, then he should stop taking the huge police protection he carries around. You have defamed the entire Punjab police by making such shameful comments, he said. He asked Sidhu to mind his language, and said that he strongly condemns the comment by Sidhu.

Dilsher Singh Chandel also recited a poem, asking Sidhu not to drown so much in the colour of power that he forgets the sacrifices of security forces. He said that police forces also have their honour and dignity, and it is important to protect the same.

According to Republic TV, Chandigarh Police have already filed a complaint against Sidhu for the comments.

Nepal Airlines to lease or sell its six Chinese aircraft due to high maintenance cost and poor performance

Aircrafts purchased from China in 2014 have now become a liability for Nepal due to poor performance and degraded functionality. Owing to this, Nepal Airlines is considering either leasing or selling its six grounded Beijing-made planes, news agency ANI cited a report by The HK Post.

The report suggests that the sale of these aircraft solely benefitted China as it has pushed Nepal into a vicious debt trap. Nepal had brought the China-made aircraft on hefty loans but it could not be utilised due to its heavy maintenance charge, thus pushing the country into a financial fix.

Nepal is trying to get rid of six Chinese aircraft, two Xian MA60S and four Harbin Y12S aircraft. Nepal Airlines had decided to stop flying them in July 2020, as they cost more to operate than the money they were earning.

According to the Nepal Airlines managing director Dim Prasad Poudel, a committee has been formed to determine the leasing rate, and they are scheduled to deliver a report within a week. After that, the report will be given to the board for approval. Prospective bidders (national and foreign) will offer their deals after the board approves them.

“Out of the two options recommended by the Finance Ministry—dry lease or outright sale—Nepal Airlines will try the first one. If there are no takers, we will go for sale. Both options seem difficult, but we don’t have an alternative,” Poudel added. It is pertinent to mention that “dry lease” means the owner will provide the bidding company only the aircraft, without the pilot or the crew, local newspaper The Kathmandu Post reported, citing Nepal Airlines officials.

The decision comes after Nepal Airlines reaffirmed its stance on Chinese-made planes, claiming that the planes have incurred significant losses since its purchase in 2014.

Nepal had acquired these flights from China in 2014. In July 2020, Nepal Airlines stopped operations of all of its Chinese aircraft including two Xian MA60s and four Harbin Y12s. The Nepali airlines said they couldn’t afford to fly the planes, so they were grounded.

The carrier has been straining to make payments on a loan since then, with an annual interest rate of 1.5 per cent, a service charge of 0.4 per cent, and administrative expenses of 0.4 per cent of the overall loan amount withheld by the Nepal Finance Ministry. The planes are owned by the Finance Ministry and operated by Nepal Airlines, which means the ministry charges the airline an annual interest rate of 8% on the disbursed loan.

A Nepal Airlines board member told HK Post that the Y12 aircraft has long been questioned for its functionality and performance, adding that the contract with China was the carrier’s “worst move.”

The arrangement was struck in 2012, and the planes were delivered to Nepal in 2014, 2017, and 2018, after which it received two presents (one MA60 and one Y12) two years later. Despite Nepal’s inability to carry out major maintenance work and a lack of competent workers and crew/engineers, the agreement was pushed through.

The warranty period of these aircraft expired this year and they are still grounded.

China sold these aircraft to Nepal nine years ago but did not assist Nepal in developing the necessary capacity to operate them. Nepal Airlines still lacks the trained crew/engineers and technical support needed to perform major maintenance on these planes. To ensure the proper operation of these planes, replacement parts and Life Limited Parts are required for at least three years, according to the report.

In November 2011, when the sale for the aircraft began, technical teams from both Bangladesh and Nepal had visited China to inspect the MA60s and Y12s. While Bangladesh had deemed the aircraft “not suitable”, Nepal went ahead and signed an agreement with the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) to procure six aircraft. It appears Nepal was forced to acquire the aircraft, said the report.

Meanwhile, Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has apparently been issued notice by AVIC to pay all debts incurred on the procurement of spare parts, training, technical assistance, and instrument purchase/installation before NAC ever considers re-operating these aircraft.

Like the China-made planes in Nepal, Pakistan’s poor quality Made In China missiles also ‘not working’

China is known for supplying sub-standard equipment that requires heavy maintenance charges. In July OpIndia reported how the low-quality Chinese-made Low-to-Medium Altitude Air Defence System (LOMADS) LY 80 missiles, which Pakistan inducted on March 12, reportedly did not function. Amusingly, Pakistan had deployed the LOMADS at nine locations in the country and the Chinese technician team had to be sent to each of these locations to fix the systems. Pakistan, desperate for the Air Defence System, has signed a contract with China for six more such systems.

22 farmer unions form a new political party Sanyukt Samaj Morcha, to contest Punjab assembly elections

22 farmer unions, which are part of Sanyukt Kisan Morcha and participated in the protest against the three farm laws, have come together to form a political party in Punjab. The new party has been named Sanyukt Samaj Morcha, which will be led by Balbir Singh Rajjewal, the chief of BKU (Rajewal).

After announcing the formation of the party, the Sanyukt Samaj Morcha leadership announced that they will contest in all 117 assembly constituencies in the state. However, the farmer leaders were already in discussions with the Aam Aadmi Party for an alliance for the elections, and that possibility has not been ruled out yet.

Yesterday, it was reported that out of 32 constituents of Samyukt Kisan Morcha, 25 of them had decided to form a political party and contest the Punjab assembly elections. However, today 22 of them came together to form Sanyukt Samaj Morcha, which means 3 more famer organisations have decided to stay away from politics now. However, the 3 unions will decide whether to form the political party of not soon.

The three unions not joining the party include BKU (Dakounda) and BKU (Lakhowal). The other seven unions that already decided not to be part of electoral politics are Kirti Kisan Union, Krantikari Kisan Union, BKU Krantikari, Doaba Sangharsh Committee, BKU Sidhupur, Kisan Sangharsh Committee and Jai Kisan Andolan.

The decision of the farmer unions to get involved in politics was taken in a Kisan Union meeting at Mullanpur near Ludhiana on Friday. Seven unions not participating in the elections had requested the pro-politics unions that the SKM flag not be used in the political campaign, as all SKM constituents not joining politics.

In one of her latest interviews, Indian television actress Urfi Javed has spoken at length about her take on Islam. Speaking to the media, the Bigg Boss OTT fame actress said that she does not believe in Islam and will never marry a Muslim man.

“I am a Muslim girl. Most of the hate comments I receive are from Muslim people. They say that I am tarnishing the image of Islam. They hate me because Muslim men want their women to behave in a certain way. They want to control all the women in the community. I don’t believe in Islam because of this. The reason why they troll me is because I don’t behave the way they expect me to as per their religion.”

Javed added, “I will never marry a Muslim guy. I don’t believe in Islam and I don’t follow any religion, so I don’t care who I fall in love with. We should marry whoever we want

Calling Islam regressive the actress scoffed at the idea of Muslim men forcing their women to wear burqas. She claimed that she is trolled predominantly by members of her own community because she does not act in the way that their religion expects her to.

“There is so much more to me than my clothes. Why don’t people talk about me or my work? I have realised that no matter what I do, people will say things. I belong to a conservative Muslim family and for the longest time, I was told what I have to wear. I wasn’t allowed to wear jeans. My chest would always have to be covered with a dupatta. This made me a rebel and today I will wear whatever I want to,” Urfi said.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Indian television actress Urfi Javed is often in the news for her bold outfits and sensuous images on social media. In September this year, the actress was brutally trolled after she was spotted wearing a backless top with a veil partly covering her hair. 

Speaking on how her mother gave her the freedom to live her life the way she chose to, Urfi Javed said that her father is a very conservative man, who abandoned them when she was 17-years-old. She and her sibling grew up with their mother who despite being a devout Muslim never pressed her faith on them. “My siblings follow Islam and I don’t, but they never force it on me,” said the actress.

She added that no one should force anyone to follow any particular religion, it should come from form the heart. Everyone should be able to select their own faith, said the actress. “That’s the way it should be. You can’t make your wife and children follow your religion. If it does not come from the heart, neither you nor Allah will be pleased.”

Urfi spoke at length about her views on religion and how she attempts to incorporate positive aspects from all religions. During her conversation with ETimes TV, Urfi disclosed that she has read the Ramayan and also narrated a story from the Hindu epic.

The actress also told the media house that she is currently reading the Bhagwat Gita.“I am reading the Bhagavad Gita right now. I just want to know more about that religion [Hinduism]. I am more interested in the logical part of it. I hate extremism, so I just want to extract the good part of the holy book,” said the actress.

The education department of Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh has slapped a notice to a private school of the district for asking the full name of Bollywood couple Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan in a question paper for the student of Class 6. The notice was served on the school after there was a massive outrage among parents and on social media after the question pater appeared, where the name of the celebrity kid was asked in the Current Affairs section of the question paper.

However, the school administration has decided to defend the inclusion of the question saying that knowing the name of Taimur, the son of Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan is important for students. The school has said that the question should be seen as an effort to enhance the knowledge of students.

“Write the full name of the son of Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan,” was the question asked in the Curernt Affairs section of the general knowledge paper of term-end exam-II of Class 6 students of Academic Heights Public School.

The district education officer Sanjeev Kumar Bhalerao said that the issue came to his notice that a question about Taimur was asked who is the son of the star couple. He said that further action would be taken once the department received a reply from the school administration.

While parents lodged their protest against the school for asking an inappropriate and irrelevant question, Bhalerao said the school should not have asked such types of questions. Students should be imparted the kind of education that helps them to know their nation, he said.

Shweta Jain, director of the school, claimed that the question papers were set by a Delhi-based organization, with which the school is affiliated.

Parents said that such a question like this on Bollywood stars and their kids are in no way going to enhance knowledge of children. The school should have questions on the life and achievements of freedom fighters and popular personalities that can inspire children and enhance their knowledge.

But Jain dismissed anger and criticism of parents. She claimed that those opposing are not the parents of the students studying in her school. She claimed that so far, none of the parents of the school made any complaint. She said that it was wrong to give communal colour to any question.

Dharma Sansad: Why are Hindus using stone-age weapons for 21st century battles?

If you recall, during the Galwan clash in the Himalayas, Indian and Chinese forces fought with sticks and stones. This was because there was a prior agreement not to carry or use guns.  But this battle, bizarre as it sounded in this age and times, was balanced because both sides were armed with sticks and stones. What if one side were to bring modern assault weapons and advanced guns to face the others throwing stones?

This brings us to the main topic of this piece – why are Hindus fighting a modern high-tech war with stone age weapons?

Some grainy, unverified videos of alleged “hate speech” made by some Hindu sadhus have been doing the rounds in social media. These could be fake. I have not heard the entire speech at least not from verified sources. By the way, do you recognize the usual tricks used by leftists when it comes to anti-Hindu/India hate speeches, in the preceding sentence? Award yourself 10 woke points if you do.

Of course, instead of writing “Modi was sad when he heard such speech” as would be the case if any of the dynasty’s serfs said such stuff, corrupt media not only played up these clips but promptly linked it promptly to Modi and BJP. As I understand it, legal action has been initiated and if calls for violence was indeed made, the law of the land should apply. Clearly, such speeches are condemnable. Unless of course, they are made against Hindus by leftists or Islamists. Then that is freedom of speech and hence progressive.

Who sets the rules?

Right from the time humans evolved from hunter-gatherer apes that lived alone, formed families, groups and societies, settled down to farm, the role of leaders has been there. They can be chieftains, Kings or by whatever name called. For tens of thousands of years, we have always had two classes – one that sets the rules and one that must obey, often at the pain of death. It is foolish to think that 20th-century democracy and modern developments like the internet, mobiles and social media have changed this fundamental fact. No, just as it has not changed the fact that we have two legs and one nose.

  • Today anti-Hindu hate has been mainstreamed and made perfectly acceptable just as anti-Jewish hate in Hitler’s Germany was. As Prof Abhishek Banerjee repeatedly points out in his tweets and articles, dehumanising Hindus is well accepted. 
  • NASA tweeting picture of an intern displaying pictures of Hindu Gods can be viciously trolled, attacked, and insulted and made to feel like a worm by Polpotist left’s SM warriors. 
  • A blue-tick Professor can not only keep her blue tick but also her Twitter account calling for a ban on Hindus entering Western countries. If she said that of any other religion or race, she would be banned for life and certified a bigot. And casually “clarify” it in a subsequent tweet. 
  • A conference supposedly against “Hindutva” can have someone boldly declaring that it is the same as Hinduism – and hence “dismantling” it (a clever term deployed to camouflage the pogrom) can be European Union public-funded activity. 
  • When Aarti Tikoo made a mention of open threats of violence against her brother and other Hindus living In Kashmir, it was her Twitter account that got suspended, not the ones making that threat!
  • If you talk about the genocide of Pandits, you are cancelled and told not to weaponise. 
  • Numerous social media accounts exist just to spread anti-Hindu hate but they are quite safe from any cancellation or suspension. 

This is because the Stalinist left as well as its partners in the West set the rules. We must follow. We have no choice. While criticism deemed “hate” against Islam/Muslims is wrong, and rightly so, it is condemned mainly because they are minorities in the West. No one considers that they are the majority in Egypt or Pakistan or in dozens of other countries. But hate against Hindus/Hinduism by Western academics is “freedom” although they too are minorities there. This is because they are the majority in India – look at how perverted the logic is!

Left has captured the liberal space and turned it into a potent anti-Hindu weapon, because their traditional weapons – the systematic destruction of faith, mass murders and rapist savagery – have all failed big time against Hinduism. It has not fetched them power. Despite 70 years of trying.

So they have cleverly modernised their weapons, while most Hindu leaders are still carrying stones and sticks. It is a battle with only one result.

Stone age tactics

Waking up to the left’s pogrom and countering it too involves recognizing both the real enemy and his weapons. We Hindus by and large fail on both counts. IMHO poor ordinary Muslims, who had no links to or love for Aurangzeb, many of whom did not benefit from Islamist rule as much as the elites that go around defending Aurangzeb are not the enemies. In fact, the Ayodhya issue is a classic example of how ordinary Muslims’ attempts at amicable settlement was throttled by the Stalinist left as it did not suit their agendas. 

Recognising the enemy and his weapons is a standard part of military training. For example, images of fighter jets are shown on screen – often for a mere split second. You must tell is it yours or your foe’s. Because that is all the time you get in real battle. 

It is indeed sad that Hindus and their leadership has failed to see and recognize these sophisticated weapons, even though there are being used for years now, not just a split second.

Left’s takeover of social media, as well as the so-called liberal space, has taken years. But having achieved total control, they now set the rules and adopt a take no prisoners approach. If you are a Dr Vikram Sampath that exposes their lies, they get to vandalise your page in Wiki. Your protests are locked out. Because they are not “verified” or from “authentic sources”. And who certifies what is “verified or authentic” – well, you guessed it! Rules are set so that you can be “suspended” or “cancelled” at moment’s notice. While they carry on with vitriol and venom in the name of “freedom”. 

The clever definition of “hate speech” itself is a case in point. It almost never applies to any speech against Hindus or their faith. Apart from that, a whole array of 21st-century weapons have been perfected – fact-checking, peer-reviewed publications and so on. Together they become formidable weapons.

Left has also evolved a language that allows itself to incite hate and celebrate violence, without necessarily doing it directly. For example, you will rarely see a leftist “intellectual” directly calling for the killing of Modi or Amit Shah. They are too clever. Instead, they use words that offer plausible deniability.  Their blue ticks are never in danger.

At worse, they can issue a boilerplate apology and move on to the next outrage. Often the apology can be insincere and ridiculous – such as the one Teesta Setelvad offered when she equated Krishna’s mythical Sudharshan Chakra with ISIS beheadings. She said a “friend’s” cartoon was tweeted by her in a “mad rush”! At other times they can choose to brazen it out. 

There is no point lamenting all this. It is a waste of time. Just as Indian hockey team cannot demand grass turf to play their games overseas, or a spin friendly cricket pitch. 

Just learn to deal with it.

Don’t carry stone age weapons – the alleged speech in Hardwar is a classic example of using stone-age weapons. It benefits only the left. And its pogrom on Hinduism. This will now become perfect excuse and valid justification for not just a million other real hate speeches but also dozens of future acts of terror and violence against Hindus, even in countries or places where they are minorities. The net result would be exactly what the left wants.

BJP leader Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga has filed a defamation case against Subramanian Swamy after Swamy made allegations that Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga was jailed several times by New Delhi’s Mandir Marg Police for engaging in petty crimes, according to The New Indian Express report.

The Rouse Avenue court hearing the case had taken cognizance of the offence which is punishable under section 500 of the IPC (Defamation). The further hearing of the case will be on January 12.

During the last week of September month this year, Swamy had levelled allegations against BJP leader Bagga in a tweet where he said that Bagga had been jailed multiple times. He said, “Delhi journalists inform me that before joining BJP, Tajinder Bagga had been jailed many times for petty crimes by the New Delhi Mandir Marg Police Station. True? If so Nadda should know.”

After that, Bagga had hit back at the allegations levelled against him and compared Swamy to James Bond’s Uncle. He further stated that instead of tweeting Swamy should ask Mandir Marg Police Station about his details and expose him. Later, Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga had sent a defamation notice to Subramanian Swamy for levelling allegations against him after he asked Swamy to prove his allegations within 48 hours.

The legal notice asked Swamy to provide various details such as serial numbers of FIRs registered against Bagga at Mandir Marg Delhi police station, DD numbers of complaints filed against Bagga, dates of Bagga’s arrest and a list of journalists who according to Swamy had reported about the arrest of Bagga in newspapers and news channels.

As Mamata Banerjee led Bengal government continues to mock democracy and the Constitution, the education minister Bratya Basu has floated the idea to nominate the Chief Minister as Chancellor of all universities of Bengal, instead of the governor.

Basu informed that the government was considering taking a legal opinion to nominate Mamata Banerjee as the Chancellor of universities. As per the law, the Governor of State happens to be the Chancellor of universities in a state.

Basu said this in response to Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar who expressed anguish after vice-chancellors of private universities of Bengal stayed away from attending a meeting called by him. Citing the Covid-19 situation, they stayed away from attending the meeting.

Terming it a case of shocking unionism he said that these developments were alarming and indicate rule of the ruler and not of law.

Governor Dhankhar accused the Mamata Banerjee government of appointing vice-chancellors by ignoring the Chancellor. He said that he has directed to revisit these appointments. Besides, he asked the UGC for a probe into a suspected breach of several regulations by private universities.

It was enough to enrage the education minister as the Bengal government continues to undermine the constitutional position of the Governor.

“It is high time to introspect whether we should continue with the colonial legacy of the Governor being the Chancellor of Universities just by the virtue of his post or we should nominate eminent scholars and educationists as Chancellors,” Basu tweeted.

Basu continued to hit Dhankar asking him to mind his business as Governor.

No wonder if Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee nominates herself as Chancellor as her education minister Basu is ready with the reference of Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan.

Upset over political appoints and violations of regulations, Arif Mohammed Khan had asked Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to take over as the chancellor of the universities “so that nobody would question the political appointments and interference in the universities.” Kerala governor had shot this letter to CM on December 8.

Basu has gone on to hint that while Kerala Governor offered to quit the post of Chancellor, the West Bengal government is considering stripping the Governor of the responsibilities as Chancellor. Basu accused the Governor and said that if the Governor kept files pending for an indefinite time and showed no cooperation then they can think of what the Governor of Kerala has said. “For an interim period, we can have the Chief Minister as the Chancellor,” he said.

Jyotiraditya Scindia slams Prashant Bhushan for peddling false distortions, issues statement on growth of railways and airways

Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has clarified one of his earlier posts on the growth of Airways compared to railways and requested activist Prashant Bhushan to not resort to false distortion.

He said, “My original statement was this. Please don’t resort to false distortions.”

Notably, Minister Scindia had earlier given a statement about the number of people travelling in railways compared to Airways and how the compounded annual growth had been greater in Airways than Railways in the last five years. He had said, “Presently, 18.5 crore people travel in Railways second class and upwards and 14.5 crore people use airways to travel but the difference is in compounded annual growth rate which is limited to 5.6 % in railways and 10.5 % in airways in the last five years. I can guarantee that within 6-8 years, people will take part in Air travel more than railways first and second class”

Seemingly, the above statement of Mr.Scindia had been used by news media to convey that the Civil Aviation Minister meant that Indians will stop travelling in Railways in future or that the Narendra Modi led government wanted to destroy the Railways.

Activist Prashant Bhushan had said, “Wow! The mentality of a Raja & his govt. Thinks that malnourished people living on <30 Rs a day will all travel by planes. His ‘Fakeer’ PM who changes 4 designer dresses a day&travels in an 8000 Cr plane & building a 8000 Cr house for himself on our money wants to destroy Railway”

In the tweet, that Mr. Bhushan posted on social media platform carried the quote “Within 6-8 years , India will stop travelling in railways.” which according to Minister Scindia was wrong interpretation of his statement.

Earlier, Jyotiraditya Scindia had slammed CPIM MP S Venkatesan for attempting to promote the north-south divide in Indian airports. The Tamil Nadu MP from the Communist Party of India (Marxist) had then claimed that Civil Aviation Minister Scindia said that the demand for Madurai airport in Tamil Nadu was not justifiable as north Indian states had one international airport. Scindia refuted the claims of the CPIM MP S Venkatesan and pointed out how some north and south Indian states like Uttar Pradesh and Kerala already had more than one international airport. Furthermore Scindia mentioned that the decision to give international status to airport depended on multiple factors such as passenger demand and proximity to other airports.
