WHO chief Tedros, accused of covering up epidemic in Ethiopia, wants wealthy nations to halt inoculating the ‘healthy’, donate to poor nations

Following accusations of siding with China and covering up the cholera epidemic in Ethiopia, the World Health Organisation (WHO) chief Tedros Adhanom recently sparked controversy after suggesting that ‘wealthier nations’ must donate the Coronavirus vaccines, meant for teenagers and children, to the poorer countries.

While highlighting that the second year of the pandemic is going to be deadlier than the first, he expressed his ‘displeasure’ over how rich countries have been vaccinating children, teenagers, and healthy individuals. Tedros Adhanom surmised that poor countries have not even started inoculating the healthcare workers and those vulnerable to the deadly virus. He instead suggested the ‘wealthy’ countries donate the vaccine doses, meant for the children and teenagers, to the Covax global vaccine sharing scheme and thereby rescue poor nations.

“In January, I spoke about the potential unfolding of a moral catastrophe,” he told a press conference. Unfortunately, we’re now witnessing this play out. In a handful of rich countries, which bought up the majority of the supply, lower-risk groups are now being vaccinated. I understand why some countries want to vaccinate their children and adolescents, but right now I urge them to reconsider and to instead donate vaccines to Covax,” the WHO chief said.

He further claimed, “Because in low and lower-middle-income countries, Covid-19 vaccine supply has not been enough to even immunise healthcare workers, and hospitals are being inundated with people that need lifesaving care urgently.” Reportedly, about 1.4 billion Coronavirus vaccine doses have been administered so far in 210 global territories. However, about 44% of the vaccines have been administered in wealthy nations compared to 0.3% in 29 poor countries.

“We’re on track for the second year of this pandemic to be far more deadly than the first. Saving lives and livelihoods with a combination of public health measures and vaccination – not one or the other – is the only way out…The fact that so many are still not protected is a sad reflection on the gross distortion in access to vaccines across the globe,” he concluded.

The World Health Organization (WHO) found itself in a tough spot in the wake of the Wuhan Coronavirus pandemic. It was accused of ‘siding with’ the Chinese government by none other than the president of the United States himself. WHO and its director Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus had come under severe criticism for their conduct since the pandemic broke out in China. The organization took long enough in declaring it a pandemic, leading to countries not being vigilant enough on time.

WHO Chief accused of covering up cholera epidemic in Ethiopia

Tedros was accused of covering up epidemics in his home country in Ethiopia even while he was the health minister in the government, days before he became the director of the WHO. A prominent global health expert, who was also an informal advisor to Tedros’s rival for the WHO top spot, had accused him of covering up to three epidemics in Ethiopia.

“Dr. Tedros is a compassionate and highly competent public health official,” Lawrence O. Gostin, director of the O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law at Georgetown University, said. He added, “But he had a duty to speak truth to power and to honestly identify and report verified cholera outbreaks over an extended period.” Tedros was Ethiopia’s health minister between 2005-12 and outbreaks had occurred in 2006, 2009 and 2011.

He had said these were only “acute watery diarrhoea” in areas where testing is “difficult”. However, in 2007, the UN and other aid agencies insisted that laboratory tests showed that the deaths were due to cholera. Ethiopia was also accused of covering up a cholera epidemic in 2017. New York Times reported that the Ethiopian government was saying the same thing in 2017 that Tedros had said on previous occasions.

Former pornstar Mia Khalifa falls for ‘toolkit’ again? Posts unedited tweet against Israel, later defends herself with bizarre explanation

On Friday, Former porn-star Mia Khalifa accidentally revealed that she could possibly be a part of an anti-Israel Twitter storm after she tweeted an unedited post to target Israel amidst the ongoing clashes in the Middle east. By tweeting an unedited tweet, Mia Khalifa seems to have inadvertently exposed a targeted global campaign against Israel.

Amidst the ongoing terror attacks against Israel by Palestinian terror groups and the subsequent counter-terror operations by Israeli Defence Forces, the former porn-star Mia Khalifa took to Twitter against Israel and the United States for carrying out airstrikes against Islamic terror groups deep inside Gaza.

In a tweet, Khalifa attacked US President Joe Biden saying he cared more about selling decommissioned second-hand military gear and artillery to Netanyahu than he cares about death tolls at schools and refugee camps.

Interestingly, at the end of her tweet, Mia Khalifa tweeted, “Send tweet”. Initially, social media users failed to grasp what exactly that phrase meant.

However, later social media users pointed out that Mia Khalifa’s latest tweet condemning Israel could be part of a well-planned tweetstorm and Khalifa had inadvertently exposed herself by posting an unedited tweet. Several users speculated that Khalifa might be a part of some anti-Israel campaign.

Social media users said that Mia Khalifa did not share any concerns for Palestine, instead, she was posting anti-Israel propaganda tweets that were perhaps sent to her in the form of a Twitter ‘toolkit’.

Hilariously, as social media users pointed out her blunder committed by Mia Khalifa, the former pornstar defended her action with a bizarre explanation.

Mia Khalifa said that she thought the phrase “send tweet meant “that’s the tweet”, which according to her, was a colloquial-internet slang for “full stop”.

Mia Khalifa and her history with ‘toolkit’ propaganda

This is not the first time that Mia Khalifa is involving in such a paid social media trends. The former pornstar had joined the likes of songwriter Rihanna and child-protestor Greta Thunberg to express their solidarity with the so-called farmer protestors in India. The former pornstar was part of a paid global campaign against India, that was suspected to be sponsored by Khalistani terrorists across the world.

In February this year, child protestor Greta Thunberg had inadvertently revealed the insidious nature of the global campaign against India. The school drop out activist had revealed about sinister global propaganda against India by leaking a ‘toolkit’ document, that was extenstively used by both foreign and several Indian propagandists to interfere in India’s domestic politics.

Songwriter Rihanna and adult movie actress Mia Khalifa too had jumped in to amplify the targeted campaign against the Indian government and were also accused of being part of global propaganda against the Indian government.

How NDTV played with words to give impression that Kerala woman died due to Israel, deleted and reposted, but still did not mention Palestine

The hostilities between the Jewish nation and its nemesis Hamas are at an all-time high, especially after the intense aerial exchanges that started on Tuesday evening and continued well past midnight. On Tuesday, Palestinian terrorist organisation Hamas unleashed massive airstrikes against Israel, firing hundreds of rockets inside the country. Following that, a bitter war of narratives has been sparked in India where the Left-Islamist nexus in the country has voiced support for Jihadis in Palestine and not for India’s friend, Israel, and to no one’s surprise, NDTV too peddled that agenda rather subtly today.

Earlier this week, during the unbridled firing by Palestine against Israel, an Indian woman from Kerala had lost her life. Reportedly, the Kerala nurse was on a video call with her husband when a rocket fired by Palestine made it past the Iron Dome and killed the woman. She is survived by her husband and a young child, who Israel has promised to provide for.

On Saturday, the Kerala woman’s mortal remains reached Delhi from Israel. MoS Muraleedharan has said that the mortal remains of Ms Soumya Santosh will reach her native place on Saturday itself.

However, amidst the terrible tragedy of Soumya Santosh’s death and the incessant attacks by Jihadis against Israel, NDTV did not miss peddling its agenda to shield Islamists rather subtle.

At 9:00 AM on Saturday, NDTV posted a tweet with a short video of its anchor talking about the Kerala Nurse’s mortal remains reaching Delhi. While in the video itself the anchor does say that she was killed in the “Palestinian rocket strike”, the tweet text drafted by NDTV had very different connotations.

NDTV, in its tweet said, “Body Of Kerala Woman Killed In Israel Rocket Strike Brought Back To India”.

Technically, they are not wrong. The Kerala woman was indeed killed in the ‘Israel Rocket Strike’, which essentially means when Palestine was launching rockets at Israel.

However, the crafting of the text itself gives the impression that the Kerala woman was killed due to a rocket strike by Israel and not in Israel because of a rocket strike by Palestine.

After being called out, NDTV deleted their initial tweet and reposted saying that the woman was killed in a rocket strike ‘in Israel’. It is pertinent to note that they still could not bring themselves to actually mention that the woman was killed in a terror attack by Palestine.

Given NDTV’s history of shielding Islamists even in India, it becomes imperative that such wordplay in the face of an escalating conflict between Israel and Palestine is called out and evaluated from the prism of which side the Left of India has taken in the discussion.

Israel, which has been sending lifesaving relief material to India to battle the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, is facing security threats in the country for the last several days. And while messages of support from Indians pour in for Israel- one of India’s strongest allies, some from the opposition and the left-wing have chosen a different route, along with the Islamists.

Even elements from Congress, apart from the usual trolls like Swara Bhaskar have picked up the mantel for Palestine. Delhi Congress VP Ali Mehdi on Wednesday took to Twitter to express his hatred for the Jewish nation. Mehdi forebodes the destruction of Israel, saying that Allah will destroy it. “Allah will destroy Israel InshaAllah #AllahuAkbar,” Mehdi tweeted.

One recalls that during the Delhi riots in India, NDTV had gone out of its way to paint Hindus as the aggressor and Muslims as the victims. In fact, in one such instance, NDTV had even edited out the footage that showed bricks being stored at a Mosque’s rooftop to ensure that the scale of planning by Muslim mobs was not evident.

With its history of shielding Islamists and Jihadis, NDTV seems to have yet again proven that their heart bleeds not only for the Islamists back home but for the Ummah, so to speak.

France orders banning of all pro-Palestine rallies in Paris amidst Palestinian terror attacks on Israel

In a significant decision, the French government has issued orders to ban pro-Palestinian protests in Paris this weekend amidst the ongoing terror attacks against Israel by Palestine-based terror group Hamas. The ongoing clashes between Israel and Palestinian have now become a global concern as Palestine continues to launch rockets targeting the Israeli population, prompting Israel Defence Forces to carry out counter-terror and defensive operations.

Amidst these clashes, pro-Palestinian protestors in France had organised solidarity demonstrations on Saturday in the French capital to protest against Israel’s counter-terror operations on the Gaza Strip. However, anticipating threat and violence, the French administration has now banned pro-Palestinian protests in Paris.

On Thursday, French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin has asked the police officials to ban all such pro-Palestinian protests in Paris in the wake of the crisis in the Middle East.

“I have asked the Paris police chief to ban the protests on Saturday linked to the recent tensions in the Middle East,” Gerald Darmanin, France’s Interior Minister, tweeted in French.

Reportedly, the French Minister noted that serious disturbances to the public order were reported in 2014 when similar protests against an Israel in Paris had turned violent. “Instructions were given to prefects to be particularly vigilant and firm,” he added.

The ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict

The hostilities between the Jewish nation and its nemesis Hamas are at an all-time high, especially after the intense aerial exchanges that started on Tuesday evening and continued well past midnight. On Tuesday, Palestinian terrorist organisation Hamas unleashed massive airstrikes against Israel, firing hundreds of rockets inside the country.

The main reason behind the current conflict is the Sheikh Jarrah property dispute, a dispute which can lead to the evictions of around 300 Palestinians from the East Jerusalem neighbourhood. The court ruling of eviction of illegal Palestinian families from the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood in east Jerusalem has stoked tensions and sparked fresh violence in the region.

Prior to the latest exchange of fire, Israeli police were attacked by Palestinians inside the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem on Sunday. The Israel police had come under severe attack by Palestinians, who pelted stones and unleashed heavy attacks on them inside the Al-Aqsa compound.

However, with the entry of the Islamic terror group Hamas, the clashes between the two sides have now taken an ugly turn. The terror group has resorted to unleashing a massive attack against Israel. The terror outfit Hamas has escalated its attack on Israeli civilians by launching hundreds of rockets.  In response to the rocket attacks, the Israeli army has struck some 140 targets in the coastal enclave after Hamas openly joined Palestinian terrorists to intensify the clashes between the two sides.

Jerusalem conflict: The history of Al-Aqsa Mosque on Temple Mount and the holiest Jewish temple that preceded it

A source of major resentment in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is the religious divide between the Israeli Jewish people and the Palestinian Muslims. This resentment stems from the fact that Jerusalem, one of the holiest sites in both Judaism and Islam remains the bone of contention behind the conflict. The Temple Mount, the holiest site in Judaism where Jews turn towards during prayer is in the Old City of Jerusalem. The Temple Mount complex is home to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest site in Islam, the Western Wall, the holiest place where Jews are allowed to worship, and the Dome of the Rock, an Islamic shrine that is instantly recognizable because of its gold-plated dome.

However, before the construction of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock, there was a grand Jewish temple on the same location on the Temple Mount. This Jewish Holy Temple, called the Second Temple, was the holiest Jewish site of worship until it was destroyed by the Roman Empire in the 70 A.D. as punishment for a Jewish revolt. The Second Temple was constructed in 516 BCE after the First Temple or Solomon’s temple was destroyed by the Neo-Babylonian Empire in 586 BCE.

The Foundation Stone, the holiest site for the Jews at present, is located on the floor of the Dome of the Rock. However, the Jews are not allowed to visit it as it located inside the Islamic shrine.

The Western Wall, which is now the holiest site Jews are allowed to worship due to the restrictions on entry to Temple Mount, is a remnant of the retaining wall erected by King Herod as part of the expansion of the Second Jewish Temple. There is extensive physical evidence confirming the existence of the Second Temple on Temple Mount.

Evidence confirming the existence of a Jewish temple on Temple Mount

In 1871, a stone tablet engraved with Greek letters was discovered near a court on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. This stone tablet was identified by French archaeologist Charles Simon Clermont-Ganneau as being the Temple Warning inscription. The stone inscription outlined the prohibition extended unto those who were not of the Jewish nation to proceed beyond the soreg (a low wall) separating the larger Court of the Gentiles and the inner courts. The inscription goes on for seven lines.

Jerusalem Temple Warning Inscription

The translation reads, “Let no foreigner enter within the parapet and the partition which surrounds the Temple precincts. Anyone caught [violating] will be held accountable for his ensuing death.” Today, the stone is preserved in Istanbul’s Museum of Antiquities. The inscription confirms the existence of a temple beyond a shadow of a doubt. A partial fragment of a less well-made version of the inscription was found in 1936 by J. H. Iliffe, who was Keeper of the Palestine Archaeological Museum from 1931-48, during the excavation of a new road outside Jerusalem’s Lions’ Gate. The inscription is now held in the Israel Museum.

Another ancient inscription, called the Trumpeting Place inscription, was partially preserved on a stone discovered below the southwest corner of the Temple Mount. The inscription shows two complete words and a third incomplete word in the Hebrew alphabet. The translation of the two complete words reads, “To the Trumpeting Place”. This has been interpreted as belonging to a spot on the Mount described by the 1st-century historian Josephus, “where one of the priests to stand and to give notice, by sound of trumpet, in the afternoon of the approach, and on the following evening of the close, of every seventh day…” closely resembling what the Talmud says.

The various walls and gates surrounding the Temple Mount, constructed by King Herod are all proof of the Second Jewish Temple. These walls and gates include, the Western Wall, the Southern Wall, Robinson’s Arch and even structures like Solomon’s Stables are all proof of the existence of the Second Jewish temple.

On September 25, 2007, Yuval Baruch, an archaeologist with the Israeli Antiquities Authority announced the discovery of a quarry compound which may have provided King Herod with the stones to build his Temple on the Temple Mount. Coins, pottery, and an iron stake found proved the date of the quarrying to be about 19 BCE. Archaeologist Ehud Netzer confirmed that the large outlines of the stone cuts are evidence that it was a massive public project worked by hundreds of slaves.

The Magdala Stone, a carved stone block unearthed by archaeologists from an ancient synagogue, dates before the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 A.D. It is notable for detailed carvings depicting the Second Temple, carvings made while that Temple still stood and therefore assumed to have been made by an artist who had seen the Temple before it was destroyed by the Roman military. Some archaeologists describe the carvings as enabling a new, scholarly understanding of the synagogue conceptualized as a sacred space even during the period while the Temple was still standing.

All of the above-mentioned inscriptions, stone tablets, etc. are proof of the existence of a Jewish Holy temple on Temple Mount, hundreds of years before the Al-Aqsa Mosque, or the Dome of the Rock, or any Islamic presence for that matter. The idea of religious Palestinian nativism is incorrect because it ignores the historical reality of Jerusalem’s Jewish roots.

According to Jew Theology related to events associated with the end of days, a Third Temple will be built where once the Second Temple stood. Several attempts were made in the past to construct the Third Temple, but they were not successful, and several Jew organisations have been formed in modern times with the goal of constructing the temple. Israeli Jews keep talking about building a Third Temple on Temple Mount to succeed the First Temple and the Second Temple, and it remains a major subject of tension between Muslims and Jews in the ongoing Israeli–Palestinian conflict.

Even though the Jerusalem city is part of Israel since 1967, the Islamic Shrines located on Temple Mount are managed by the Jerusalem Islamic Waqf. Moreover, currently the Israeli government prevents non-Muslims from entering the area as a security measure.

NCPCR writes to Assam DMs over rehabilitation of children who fled West Bengal due to post-poll violence

The National Commission for Protection of Children Rights (NCPCR) on Friday wrote to the District Magistrate of Dhubri and Kakrajhar districts in Assam, over “rehabilitation of displaced children from West Bengal to Dhubri due to alleged post-poll violence & atrocities meted to them by certain persons who are reportedly politically motivated”.

Taking cognisance of the plight of children who may have sought refuge in the two districts of Assam that borders Bengal, the NCPCR asked the DMs to immediately visit the camps where refugees from WB are staying and any other such place where these children are residing, to find out their exact numbers and other related facts connected to the brutalities endured by these children in West Bengal.

“The Commission is of the view that statements of all these children be recorded by child welfare police officer of the district (CWPO), and the same be submitted to the Commission for perusal and further necessary action,” the letter read.

The Commission also suggested that the police file zero FIRs in all cases where atrocities against these children have been reported. The Commission asked the DMs to complete the investigation within 3 days of receiving the letter and share the action taken report with them accordingly.

Post-poll violence in West Bengal

Post-poll violence had become a recurrent theme of news emerging out of Bengal following the declaration of assembly election results. Umpteen number of violence against political opponents were reported from the state. In an overwhelming number of such incidents, the victims were BJP supporters and workers, while the accused were said to be the supporters of the TMC party. Over a dozen of BJP workers have lost their lives in the post-poll violence that ensued following the victory of the TMC party in the assembly elections.

The violence unleashed against them forced hundreds of BJP party workers and supporters to flee their villages along with their families. They crossed over to neighbouring Assam, where they are provided temporary shelter on the orders of chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. It is not just the BJP but even CPI(M) which has accused the TMC of killing its workers. Reports of attacks on BSF jawans have also emerged in the media.

BJP leader and the now CM of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma took to Twitter on May 5 to share pictures of several people who were forced to leave the state following purported post-poll violence and come to Assam. In a thread of Tweets, Sarma highlighted the plight of the refugees. Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed that hundreds of people from Bengal, along with their family members have fled and reached Assam where they are being put up in shelters by the state government.

In fact, on the same day, Nandigram MLA and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari had also asserted that over a lakh people have already fled Bengal since the post-poll violence erupted in West Bengal from May 2, 2021.

Union Health Ministry debunks Maharashtra Congress leader’s PM CARES Fund linked ‘ventilator scam’ claim: Details

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has debunked claims that ventilators procured through the PM CARES Fund and supplied to Aurangabad were not functioning properly. The clarification came after Congress leader Sachin Sawant from Maharashtra has alleged a scam citing the alleged malfunctioning.

The Ministry has said that the ventilators in question were not procured through the PM CARES Fund.

GMC Aurangabad
The tweet by Congress leader alleging a ventilator scam

The MoHFW said in a statement, “Ventilators manufactured by Jyoti CNC were supplied to Aurangabad Medical College. Jyoti CNC is one of the manufacturers of “Make in India” Ventilators. They have supplied ventilators centrally for COVID-19 management, as per the directions of Empowered Group-3. These ventilators were then made available to States as per the requests made by States. This supplier is not funded under PM CARES fund.”

Due to the shortage of ventilators during the initial days of the pandemic, local manufacturers encouraged to produce ventilators in adequate numbers. Many among them had no prior experience in ventilator manufacturing. However, it was only after proper screening, testing and clinical validation that the ventilators were put into supplies. Jyoti CNC was one such manufacturer.

The Ministry stated, “On 23rd April (i.e. 04 days after successful installation of ventilators the Hospital authorities at GMC Aurangabad, a complaint was received telephonically informing that 08 ventilators were not functioning. The engineers went to the site and found that flow sensor (proximal) had not been installed in 03 ventilators by the Hospital. All 08 were recalibrated by the service engineers of the vendor. 01 ventilator had oxygen cell which was not functioning. A fresh oxygen cell was reinstalled and this ventilator also made functional and commissioned subsequently.”

“Jyoti CNC received a call on 10th May, 2021 informing that two ventilators have been used in ICU. Out of these, one on NIV (Non-Invasive (BiPAP) mode), is not being able to ensure saturation of the patient. The authorities said that this may be checked outside the ICU. The same was examined by the team of service engineers & was found to be in functional condition and the team returned after satisfying the Hospital authorities. This was put back in operation on a patient on night of 12th May 2021 on NIV mode,” it stated further.

The Ministry added, “On 13th May afternoon Jyoti CNC was informed telephonically that they are not being able to get optimum PEEP. The technical team visited the hospital in the afternoon. However, by then the same ventilator had been put on the patient in invasive mode. The Ventilator was working on the patient on invasive (IV) mode and it was working perfectly fine on the patient.”

In at least one instance, it was observed that the problem was caused by improper mask fitting, which is corrected by proper mask size and fitting on the patient. The statement further said that the ventilator was functioning in the Invasive Mode.

GMC Aurangabad has requested that the 22 ventilators installed be demonstrated and re-commissioned before the hospital team and the team of engineers with Jyoti CNC will ensure the same over today (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday).

Israel used deceptions to lead Hamas and Islamic Jihad operatives into the tunnels in Gaza Strip before bombing them

As Israel and Hamas continue to remain embroiled in a violent confrontation, the former has pulled off a stunning deception with its surprise attack on Hamas’ underground network of tunnels in the Gaza Strip, which is popularly known as the “Metro”, a report published on The Jerusalem Post said.

While Hamas was girding itself for a ground invasion from the Israeli forces by sending its operatives inside the tunnel and planning a surprise attack on them, the anticipated ground offence never took place. Instead, Israel caught Hamas off-guard when it launched an aerial attack once the terrorists were out of the tunnel and exposed to Israeli aircraft.

Israel issued warning of a possible ground invasion

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict flared up once again this week after Hamas, an Islamic terror outfit controlling the Gaza Strip, launched hundreds of rockets into Israel. Later, Israel launched precision airstrikes into Gaza, killing several Hamas commanders and terrorists, in retaliation.

As hostilities between Israel and Palestine continued to escalate, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday said that the attacks were far from over and they would only intensify with time.

Later on Thursday, Israel’s Defense Minister approved the mobilisation of 9,000 more reservist troops amid fighting with Hamas. Israel’s military spokesman said that forces are massing on the border with the Gaza Strip. After dusk on Thursday, armoured and infantry battalions joined the artillery batteries that had been deployed days earlier to attack Hamas and Islamic Jihad targets.

With the fight continuing, Israeli forces were preparing for a ground invasion of the Gaza Strip. The Israeli Defence Forces hinted that ground offensive was very much on the table and considered as a viable option to stop the ongoing barrage of rockets streaking from the Gaza side.

The IDF had inflicted considerable damage to Hamas with its airstrikes. However, a ground invasion would have meant the death knell for the terror outfit that is struggling to keep its hold on the Gaza Strip.

At midnight, the IDF spokesperson’s English department tweeted that IDF air and ground troops are currently attacking in the Gaza Strip. The reference to the ground offensive was quickly lapped up by the western media outlets, who foreboded that the conflict is all set to devolve into a major escalation.

Media across the globe started reporting that Israeli forces are preparing to invade the Gaza Strip. However, it was a part of a clever ruse, put up by the IDF, Israel’s Defence Minister and others involved in the operation.

Much-anticipated ground offence never took place, instead aerial attacks destroyed the Metro

Although the IDF had deployed forces along the border, they did not cross into Gaza. It was a cunning stratagem used by the IDF to box Hamas into a corner. With the media reports conjecturing a possible ground incursion, Hamas and Islamic Jihad sent its first line of defence to its underground network of tunnels to take a position against Israeli offence.

Hamas has meticulously built an underground network of tunnels called the “Metro” over the years after the 2014 war in the Gaza Strip. The network is a labyrinth of dozens of kilometres of tunnels that crisscrosses Gaza and provided safety from Israeli aerial incursions.

The terror organisation had essentially sent its anti-tank missile teams and mortar squads into the tunnel to strike at incoming Israeli ground forces. However, little did they know that they were tricked into entering the tunnel by the Israelis, who scrambled a fleet of 160 aircraft to bomb them.

Once the terrorists of Hamas were inside the tunnels, they were exposed to Israeli aircraft. Within minutes, the “Metro” attack ensued.

According to the Israel Defence Forces, in this air strike, which lasted nearly 40 minutes, around 450 missiles were dropped from 160 planes on 150 targets in northern Gaza, particularly around the city of Beit Lahiya.

As of now, it is unclear as to how many Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists have perished in the attack, and how much of the tunnels were damaged. However, IDF believes the number could be significant. IDF Spokesperson Brig.-Gen. Hidai Zilberman said on Friday morning that the military was still assessing the consequences of the operation.

VHP says more than 3500 villages and 40000 plus Hindus affected by Bengal violence, urges judiciary to take note

On Friday (May 14), the Hindu rights organisation Vishwa Hindu Parishad made shocking revelations about how the post-poll violence in West Bengal by Trinamool Congress hoodlums affected the lives of Hindus in the State.

In a press release by National Spokesperson of VHP, Vinod Bansal, he stated, “The Central Secretary General of Vishva Hindu Parishad, Sri Milind Parande today said that unfortunately, the Hindu society has been at the receiving end of the brutal and gruesome political violence that started in West Bengal on May 02.” The press release emphasised, “More than 3500 villages and over 40-thousand Hindus, including our SC & ST brethren in great numbers, are badly affected by the violence.”

The Hindu rights organisation pointed out how shops, houses, and crops belonging to Hindus have been destroyed in the post-poll violence. VHP highlighted that unspeakable atrocities against women were committed during the violence in West Bengal. “The fish ponds of the pisciculturists have been poisoned. Now groups of goons are forcibly collecting protection money from the victims and other terrorized Hindus with phoney promises to spare them from further lootings and assaults,” the press release narrated the ordeal of Hindus in the State.

The VHP said, “The footprints and signatures of Islamic Jihadists are overly obvious in all these incidents and patterns. The attitudes of the state government and the administration on these gruesome and brutal violence that have been going on for so many days, appear to be completely indifferent and despicable. There is an atmosphere of fear in the society. Due to this fear & non-co-operation of the local police, victim’s complaints/Cases are not being registered.”

VHP urges Judiciary to take cognisance of the matter

Keeping the circumstances in mind, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad has asked the Judiciary to take suo motu cognisance of the matter. It has urged the Courts to protect the citizens and accordingly direct the Mamata Banerjee government and the local administration. “The rioters must be arrested at the earliest and given exemplary punishment. At the same time, the state government should fastrack the mechanism to protect the Hindu society, compensate for the loss of life and property of the victims and rehabilitate them,” it said.

Important documents seized from Hindus, say Vishwa Hindu Parishad

The VHP informed that important documents such as ration cards, voter IDs and Aadhar cards have been forcibly taken away from the Hindus. “The same must be retrieved and returned to the victims, and the false cases lodged against the victims of violence should be quashed. It is our request that the Hon’ble Court of Law ought to consider all these matters in a comprehensive manner and ensure justice for the victims in this time of crisis,” it stated.

VHP urges Hindu society to help out its brethen

The Hindu rights organisation highlighted that it has been providing food and other services to the Hindu families victimised by the post-poll violence and forced to live like refugees in their own State. Given the mammoth task at hand, the VHP has urged the Hindu society to step forward and offer support for their brethren.

“We also ask the state government that rising above petty politics, it should curb, with an iron hand, the abominable atrocities being perpetrated by local criminals and Jihadi elements, take steps to protect Hindus, and make proper arrangements for rehabilitation of the victims. The Vishva Hindu Parishad stands firmly with the entire Hindu society in West Bengal,” the press release concluded.

Post-poll violence in West Bengal by TMC

After TMC’s thumping victory in West Bengal, its party workers have unleashed terror on the workers and supporters of BJP and other opposition parties. As per some social media reports, at least ten BJP karyakartas are said to have been killed brutally in the apparent victory celebration by the TMC. BJP’s Avijit Sarkar was lynched to death along with his puppies allegedly by the TMC’s bloodthirsty cadre.

The party offices of the BJP were burnt down to ashes at various locations. After horrifying videos of women being attacked and assaulted by the TMC goons surfaced on social media, the Chairperson of NCW Rekha Sharma reached the state of West Bengal to take stock of the situation and provide relief to the affected. A CRPF unit was sent to BJP’s Purbasthali Uttar candidate Dr Gobardhan Das’s village after he was trapped inside his home along with his family members including the elderly as TMC hoodlums hurled bombs.
