Fact Check: Did PM Modi ask students to attempt difficult questions first in exams?

On April 7, Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with students, parents and teachers across the country in the first virtual “Pariksha Pe Charcha”. It was the fourth edition of the program. The interaction lasted for over ninety minutes in which PM Modi shared his experiences and provided guidance to students, teachers and parents on various topics. Students residing abroad also participated in the event.

The controversy over PM’s sugegstion

After the program, some posts started to float on social media that suggested PM Modi had asked the students to attempt difficult questions first during the exams. The alleged suggestion by PM was in contrast with what students are taught by the teachers that they should attempt the easy questions first in the exams. Several opposition leaders, former bureaucrats and netizens raised eyebrows and called it ‘self-destructive’ and ‘catastrophic’.

Congress leader Pawan Khera quoted Aaj Tak’s tweet which has been deleted.

Did PM Modi ask students to solve difficult questions first?

While talking about the difficult chapters and subjects, the Prime Minister said that the students should attend every subject with the same attitude and energy. He emphasized on dividing the day equally for all the subjects. He said though it is taught to attend easy chapters first in studies and to attempt easy questions first in exams, his views on attending chapters during studies is different.

He said the most difficult chapters should be addressed first with a ‘fresh mind’, and it will make easy ones feel even easier. He shared his experience while being in office as Chief Minister of Gujarat and Prime Minister of India. He said that he preferred to tackle difficult issues in the morning with a fresh mind. He advised the students not to run away from difficult chapters but to address them first during the study hours.

During the interaction, PM Modi talked about attending difficult subjects first, during their study hours and did not advise students to attempt difficult ‘questions’ first in the exam. A simple wordplay between attending and attempting confused the leaders of opposition parties, IAS officers and several others.

In fact, the PM even mentioned specifically that during exams, students are advised to attempt easy questions first, and difficult ones later, but during study hours, it is always better to do the opposite. He advised students that they should devote equal time to all subjects and the difficult chapters, or topics should be addressed first, with fresh energy and mind.

The PM also emphasised that putting the difficult topics for later hours creates a habit of procrastinating and students may tend to avoid the ‘difficult’ topic altogether. He advised them to try and study the difficult topics first to gain confidence.

The suggestion of ‘difficult ones first’ was not in the context of exams, but in the context of studies.

Verdict: No, PM Modi did not ask to attempt difficult questions first during exams. He was referring to study hours and time division. He had advised students to study difficult chapters or subjects first, with a fresh mind so the easy chapters seem even easier later. The claims are FAKE.

Mukhtar Ansari’s goons and sharpshooters used to live near Banda jail, police on alert as the mafia don is shifted back

After a long legal tussle between the Punjab and UP governments and a Supreme Court order, notorious gangster Mukhtar Ansari has finally been shifted to Banda jail in UP. As per a TV9 report, around 200 followers and minions of Ansari may have made Banda their new home to support and ease the gangster’s life in jail.

The district administration has been put on alert after receiving inputs of 200 of Ansari’s henchmen being present in the city. Chitrakoot IG Satyanarayan informed that the administration plans to initiate a verification process of everyone living on rent in the city. The police officials have also notified house owners in the city that it is mandatory to verify the identity of tenants and submit affidavits.

However, Ansari’s supporters claim that people have the right to live anywhere and this should not be a matter of concern for anyone.

Habituated to lavish life, Ansari had refused to eat jail food when he was in Punjab. He received home-cooked meals daily for which his wife was made to reside close to the jail to be able to send food regularly. Mukhtar’s operatives are trying to set a similar arrangement for him in Banda, however, this time the security within and outside the jail premises has been tightened.

As per reports, Ansari had employed sharp shooters too. The police officials have been instructed to keep an eye on criminals who have recently came to Banda jail or the ones who have been recently released. Since Mukhtar Ansari has even won elections while lodged in jail and was running his illegal empire from there, his goons and henchmen are used to organising a secret network and contacts to run Ansari’s work from Banda.

Mukhtar Ansari’s new location:

Ansari has been shifted to barrack 16 in Banda jail under the supervision of 3 security officials and CCTV cameras. No other criminal or any other movement will be allowed in the section. Buildings around the jail will also have security guards to keep a watch on the gangster. Trees in and around the cell complex have been trimmed for security purposes. Reports say that the CCTV feed will also be relayed to Lucknow.

UP government’s crackdown on Mukhtar Ansari

Gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari had been booked by Ghazipur police under the Uttar Pradesh Gangster and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act. The UP government has been demolishing multiple illegal properties of Ansari spread across the state and had also cracked down on Ansari’s aides and associates, as well as his illegal businesses. Ansari, the descendant of a politically powerful family linked with Congress leaders and has been a mafia don and MLA for several consecutive terms.

Allegations of sexual assault levelled against several activists leading the farmer protests: Here is what we know so far

The ongoing farmer protests have been in the news several times for the wrong reasons. In the last three days, allegations of sexual assault against activists associated with the protests have clouded the protests further. The allegations started with a post against one Mohammad Zuber (_emmzedd on Instagram) and opened a Pandora’s Box of many such allegations on other alleged activists. Other prominent activists who have been named so far are Varun Chouhan (member of Trolly Times), Antarpreet Singh (leader of Students For Society) and Manish Kumar (President, Swaraj For Youth).

Allegations against Mohammad Zuber

Not to be confused with Mohammad Zubair of Alt News, Zuber is one of the prominent frontrunners who were spreading ‘awareness about the farmer protests on social media networks. With 25,000+ followers on now-deleted account on Instagram, Zuber was also named as a documenter on the Kisan Ekta Morcha website (kisanekta.co).

Zuber’s name appears on Kisan Ekta Morcha’s website

Kisan Ekta Morcha is directly linked to Trolley Times, where Varun Chouhan (other accused) is an active contributor/leader.

So far, we only know that some girl had posted on Instagram where she alleged Mohd Zuber had raped her. After her post, Zuber deleted or deactivated his Instagram account and disappeared from social media. However, his Twitter handle is still active. A girl on Facebook had posted about Zuber and said, “Mohd Zuber (_emmzedd on Instagram ) is an alleged rapist. He raped a girl, and when she wrote about it on Instagram,  Varunaditya Singh Chouhan mocked her.”

Post about allegations against Zuber

We are trying to find more information on the allegations against Zuber and will update the report accordingly.

Allegations against Varun Chouhan

Varun Chouhan has been actively covering Farmer Protests under Trolley Times. So far, he has been named by four different victims. After he was accused of sexually assaulting a victim, “The Kaur Movement” took the initiative to publish stories on behalf of the victims. The Kaur Movement has not published any names of the victims to ensure their privacy.

Victim 1

As narrated by the victim, she came in contact with Varun in 2019 after he sent her a friend request. During the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he invited her to be a part of the content team for a candidate he was endorsing. She agreed, and they became friends while working on the project. In her story, she mentioned that Varun talked a lot about his past relationship, and she felt sorry for what he went through.

Varun Chouhan’s victim 1

After a while, he confessed his love for her. As she was in a relationship, she denied it. Varun accepted the refusal for the time being, but as time passed by, he manipulated her in a way that she broke up with her then-boyfriend. After some time, he went to Ludhiana from Delhi to meet her. She was awkward during the first meeting, so she did not stay with him. However, after a month, during his second meeting, she spent the night in his room. When she woke up, she realised that he was groping her. When she protested, he said, “I know you want it.”

Varun Chouhan’s victim 1

He continued to touch her, and she froze. Once he was done, she cried, but he tried to console her and said it was natural. He left the next day, and they continued to stay in touch. She mentioned that he had a girlfriend in another city and felt sorry for her. As time passed by, he started to distance himself from her. “He crushed my self-esteem and pressured me to have a threesome with him and his girlfriend,” she added.

Towards the end, she said that she did not speak up before as she did not want him to contact her in any way. Also, she was scared of what would happen if her family found about it. However, after reading other women’s experiences, she realised he had done the same with many others.

Victim 2

The victim stated her story by pointing out that Varun is 20 years older than her. He approached her on social media, and as they were from the same social circle, they started talking. However, according to the victim, Varun took it as a license to engage in conversations that were beyond small talk. He kept on insisting on meeting even though she had made clear that she wanted to take things slow.

Varun Chouhan’s victim 2

When Varun realised she would not engage in anything physical so soon, he started to manipulate her. He would repeatedly shame her for not being mature enough. “He knew exactly which buttons to push,” she added. When he again asked to meet her, keeping in mind the contrast of his behaviour, she declined to meet him. She said his attitude was evident that he was habitual of preying on girls.

Victim 3

The victim made clear at the beginning of the post that he did not attempt any physical assault on her. She met Varun in 2019 through a common friend. The idea was to get his help for her internship. However, during the meeting, she felt uncomfortable around him due to his body language. “I’d also caught him unpleasantly staring at me,” she added.

Varun Chouhan’s victim 3

Later, he sent her a friend request on Instagram, which she accepted. Though he seemed some sort of activist, he started sending flirty messages from day 1. He sent messages like “you look yummy” on her stories. One day, she tried finding more information about him when she came across his wedding photos on Facebook. When she confronted him, he claimed he was divorced. However, her actions made him cautious.

After some time, she started sharing his posts on Instagram, after which some people approached her and told her he was a predator and cautioned her. “That’s when I realised maybe I bought his lies and all that was a trap, and he just sees women as sex objects,” she added. It took some time for her to push him away by bringing the friend in the conversation who was the reason they met.

Victim 4

The fourth victim also met him during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. She said, meeting with him changed her life forever. Initially, it was about elections, but soon he started flirting with her. Later he started sending inappropriate photos, but she kept mum. Sometime later, they decided to meet at his place, and they both got high. That was the time when he forced himself upon her.

Varun Chouhan’s victim 4

“Amidst this, he made weird demands like asking me to video call my ex-partners to show them how good he was in bed. I denied that obviously and asked him to stop, but then he became very rough,” she added. She further said that she never thought her experience with sex was going to be like this. When he was done, he asked her to leave, but she was not in a position to walk. He decided to drop her home.

The next day she realised how ruined her clothes were. There was blood all over her clothes. “I decided to not be in touch with him. He tried contacting me after a while and asked to have sex, I did not respond to him,” she added. She further said that it is a trauma she lives in every day.

Trolley Times refused to take any step against Varun

In a shocking turn of events, though Trolley Times acknowledged they know about the allegations against Varun, they refused to take any action against him “in lack of an official complaint.”

In a post on April 5, they said, “We take into cognisance the different allegations of sexual harassment against Varun Chouhan, who has been a member of our team and has dissociated himself from the Trolley Times in the light of these allegations. We are committed to ensuring that all spaces, including sites of struggles, remain spaces that are gender just. The Trolley Times would like to share that if any complainant wishes to lodge a complaint with us, we would definitely set up an independent inquiry committee that will be constituted and will work in accordance with the process informed by the Vishakha Guidelines and the Justice Verma Committee recommendations. We also assure our complete cooperation and support should the complainants decide to lodge their complaint with any other forum/institution deemed appropriate by them. We wish to reiterate that any movement against oppressive and exploitative laws cannot be strengthened in the absence of commitment to gender and social justice.

April 5 statement of Trolley Times where they acknowledged the allegations

Later on April 5, they said that they are unconditionally with the victims, but they cannot take any action against Varun in lack of an official complaint. They said, “The Trolley Times is unconditionally with the women who are raising their voices against sexual harassment. We are deeply disturbed that Varun Chouhan, who was associated with us, has been accused of repeated instances of sexual harassment and violence. We have seen claims that people approached Trolley Times regarding Varun, and that Trolley Times failed to act. Three people did contact as via phone call, conveying that there were complaints against Varun regarding his predatory ) behaviour. We asked them repeatedly to share the nature of complaint/s and that they share the information (even if not the complaints by survivors) in writing through message or email. We NEVER asked them either to disclose any of the survivors’ identities or to provide any manner of proof.

We urged them to submit a third-party complaint or an anonymous complaint. We recognise and respect a survivor’s right to choose if and when to share about their ordeal. The only thing we requested was a complaint or a piece of written information, taking cognisance of which we can take action. None of the three people who contacted us said that it was their own complaint. We pursued people for days, repeatedly asking them for complaints. At that time, there were no social media posts against the said person for as to take suo mote cognisance. The nature of complaints now being shared on social media was also not shared with us. We were only told that there are complaints of some sort against Varun.

Trolley Times refused to take action against Varun

In the absence of any formal complaint (even anonymous or third party complaint), no disciplinary process could be initiated.

Trolley Times is committed to fully co-operate in whatever course of action the complainant/s decide/s to pursue. We firmly hold that sites of struggles that are built with the hard work of so many must remain gender just and safe for women and for people of all marginalised groups. To this end, movements and struggle sites must take prompt action on every complaint of sexual harassment.

Allegations against Antarpreet Singh

Antarpreet Singh is a leader of Students For Society which is a student’s organization at Punjab University, Chandigarh. Antarpreet has been one of the frontrunners in spreading ‘awareness about the farmer protests at the university campus. Allegations against him were raised by three women.

In a joint statement, two of them narrated their ordeals with Antarpreet Singh. In the statement, they mentioned that after allegations were raised against Varun and Zuber, a lot of fellow women were feeling overwhelmed. As a part of ‘Not Alone Women’s Circle Time,’ they discussed the situation when both of them realized that they were abused by the same man, i.e. Antarpreet.

“During the circle time, he stood out to us because of the stark similarities of his conduct even though he wasn’t named Initially. Later, when we confirmed it with each other, It got us thinking – What if we are not the only ones? What If our silence continues to enable our abuser?” the added. In her ordeal, one victim said that Antar started to make her feel uncomfortable after a few months into the friendship. He would touch her head and caress her forehead as a gesture of care.

“Later, the touch progressed to his arms around my shoulder and his hands sliding to my lower back. I was confused, sometimes I would stop it, sometimes I would shake it off as a friendly touch, nothing more,” she added. She kept thinking that he was a friend and defended him in her head. When she was unable to take it anymore, she confronted him, and he apologized and promised he did not do anything similar to anyone else.

“After that, I boycotted him from all the artistic and political events I hosted except one. I also informed some poetry event organizers of the city and made them aware so that they can leave him out,” she added.

One of the victims said that her incident progressed similarly to the other one. “I do not feel comfortable in recalling and writing the details. I considered calling him ‘in’ the organization’s Executive Committee. During the investigation meeting, he denied It even happened, and in a recent conversation on the topic after Varun Chauhan’s incident, he still labelled my sexual harassment as an ‘unconscious’ act,” she added.

She said she does not what is ‘unconscious’ about touching someone inappropriately. “We have both addressed this harassment as per our own emotional and rational capacity at the time of the incident. But it is becoming increasingly difficult to see him glorified by young girls and boys, knowing that they might b vulnerable to him. Every time we see Antarpreet posting about women’s rights, speaking at rallies against rape, schooling young women activist, we cringe inside,” she added.

The ordeal of another victim

Another victim, in her post narrating her ordeal with Antarpreet, said that she met him at PU. They regularly met during different protests and had conversations. He once asked her to marry him out of the blue, which she found to be outrageous. Slowly, he started to touch her hair, shoulders, face and hug her without permission. Though she confronted him on several occasions, he continued his actions.

Allegations against Antarpreet Singh

She said that he had manipulated her into questioning her own hard-learned sense of right and wrong. “I must reiterate the fact that I have many female and male friends, and no male friends of mine have ever made me feel this uncomfortable,” she added. He used to tell others that they were “emotionally connected” and implied there was a romantic relationship between them. There was a time when she was asked on several occasions if she was dating him.

Allegations against Antarpreet Singh

When she finally cut off all relations with him, he called her 30 times even though her mom had explicitly asked him not to call. She added that whenever he is confronted, he plays the victim card and calls his actions’ unconscious’.

SFS’s reply to the allegations

In its reply to the allegations, SFS said that they stand with the victims. “SFS at the outset stands with the survivors, condemns in strongest possible words each and every incident of sexual harassment. The executive committee has suspended Antarpreet with immediate effect from the organisation,” they said in the statement.

They further added that in 2018, one victim had filed a complaint against Antarpreet, but at that time, she asked him to apologise and asked the organisation to give him another chance to rectify his behaviour. They said, “We are in contact with both **** and ****. We have assured them both that we will provide every possible support In whatever way they want to pursue their complaints. SFS wants to emphasise that one of the incidents as mentioned In the statement by **** and **** was reported to the organisation in 2018 by ****. SFS took immediate notice of the complaint and the organisation held Antarpreet guilty. At that time ***** asked the organisation that Antarpreet be asked to apologise and given one chance to rectify.”

Allegations against Manish Kumar

Manish Kumar, President, Youth 4 Swaraj, was also named by one of the victims. It has to be noted that Youth 4 Swaraj is the youth wing of Yogendra Yadav’s Swaraj for India.

Manish Kumar’s profile at Swaraj4Youth website

The victim has claimed in her post that she informed about the sexual assault of Yadav and other senior members, but no one paid heed to her. The victim said that the case of Varun made her feel empowered to talk about what had happened to her. She had to resign from Swaraj India (Yogendra Yadav’s organisation) after its members mentally traumatised and abused her.

She added that it was traumatising for her that even after telling the senior members about Manish Yadav’s actions, he was comfortably sitting at Youth for Swaraj’s tent at Singhu border as one of their front men.

She said that when she told Yogendra Yadav about the incident that had happened with her, she was replied with a deafening silence. Avik Saha, Vice President of his organisation, asked her to go to the police.

Allegations against Manish Kumar and Swaraj 4 Youth

“And all of this happened because they knew that they could sabotage women’s cause on the “name” of a greater cause. They knew the onus of being harassed and abused would come at me, and I would be blamed for maligning the movement, but the men who have free reign and protection to abuse/threaten/harass d predate on women,” she added. When she had resigned in November 2020, she wrote a long letter to Yadav explaining her reasons to resign which can be read in one of her Instagram posts.

Swaraj 4 Youth, Swaraj India or Yogendra Yadav have not replied to the allegations yet.

This is an ongoing story. Once we get more updates, we will update it accordingly.

‘Attempt topics that you find difficult first during your studying hours’: PM Modi to students on ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today interacted with students, parents and teachers in the ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ program. This is the fourth edition of the event and the Prime Minister interacted in a virtual setting due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

In the programme, PM Modi tried to answer questions on a range of issues, from beating the stress surrounding the examinations to the approach that students must embrace to tackle subjects they found difficult to learn. Besides, the Prime Minister also shared a few tips with the students as to how to augment their performances for the upcoming board examinations across the country.

Here are the key highlights of PM Modi’s ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ programme:

PM Modi advises parents and teachers to not burden students with exam scare

Making light of the examinations that are often the root cause of stress for students, PM Modi suggested that exams are not everything and asked parents and teachers to not exert undue pressure on children.

“You knew of exams. They haven’t come suddenly. It means you’re not scared of exams but of something else. The atmosphere has been created around you that exams are everything. Sometimes schools, parents, relatives create an atmosphere that you’ve to undergo a big event, huge crisis,” PM Modi said.

He further added, “I’d like to tell them, especially parents, that what have you done? I think it’s the biggest mistake. We become conscious more than necessary & start over-thinking. I think this it’s not the end. Life is very long, this is just a small halt. We should not create pressure.”

For parents, PM Modi said, they should not burden their children with their values, but find a way to inculcate basic values in their upbringing.”

Rather than viewing exams as the last chance, PM Modi advised students to view them as a perfect opportunity to tighten themselves up to live a long life in a way. PM Modi told students to be stress-free and not be conscious. “Leave all tension outside the exam centre. The solution to deal with tension is available in Exam Warrior book and NaMo app,” he said.

Attempt difficult topics first while studying: PM Modi to students

Sharing from his personal experience, PM Modi asked students to attempt difficult topics first during studies, instead of going with the easier topics or favourites ones. Don’t run away from difficult topics, PM Modi said while responding to a question by a student who said that he finds studying few topics or subjects difficult.

“Teachers and parents advise us to attempt things/ questions that are easy. However, with education, this suggestion is not right. In fact, first, attempt difficult topics as your mind is fresh. When I was a chief minister, I also learned things. I started my day discussing difficult things, things whose decisions were hard to take. I kept easier stuff for later part of the day,” PM Modi said.

PM Modi shares Lata Mangeshkar’s example to urge students to focus on their strengths

Furthermore, PM Modi also urged students to develop expertise in one particular area. He said those who are successful are not good in all subjects but they have a stronghold in one subject or one area of expertise. PM Modi shared the example of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar to drive home his point that people should focus on their strengths and cultivate them.

“Would Lata Mangeshkar be able to teach Geography? She may or she may not but her area of expertise is singing. Every successful person is known for his area of expertise and students should focus their energies on identifying and working on their areas of interest,” PM Modi said.

Use free time to rejuvenate yourself, improve your creativity: PM Modi

Speaking on free time, PM Modi said that one should learn not to waste his/her free time and utilise it as an opportunity. He also asked people to take time out of their busy schedule and use that spare time to indulge in things that brings them happiness and joy.

“In your daily lifestyle, you should have some free time otherwise your life becomes robotic. They can be of two types, one which is pre-decided, and the other is which you get to know at the last moment. If you know your spare time beforehand, then you can ask your parents or siblings if you can help them in their chores,” said PM Modi, adding that in his spare time he likes to sit on a jhoola(swing).

During your free time, observe your parents, how they are managing their daily chores. Or try story writing, painting etc. Give yourself a way to express your thoughts. Creativity has the power to unlock potentials and take you where no one has reached,” PM Modi said.

PM Modi’s tips on motivating students to eat traditional food

Addressing a question raised by a mother who asked for tips to motivate her children to eat tiffin food, PM Modi asked children should be made aware of the speciality of the traditional food. He added every family member should know how the food is prepared, ingredients used in them and time taken. He said that an interactive game should be made to teach children the importance of home-cooked food.

“Nowadays, there is so much information about food. We can prepare a game. The family doctor should discuss what to eat, hereditary disorders in the family. Also discuss with teachers how through an interesting way they can tell students the benefits of the lunch box,” PM Modi said.

Election Commission issues notice to Mamata Banerjee for her communal appeal to Muslims, says it violates model code of conduct and RP Act

The Election Commission of India has issued a notice to West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee for appealing for votes on the basis of religion. The EC has given 48 hours to the TMC chief to explain her in making the statement, failing which the commission will taken appropriate action against her.

The notice was issued after ECI had received a complaint from a delegation of BJP leaders over her speech on 3rd April, where she had appealed the Muslims to not split their vote. Addressing a rally in Tarakeswar in Hooghly, Mamata Banerjee had said, “I am requesting my minority brothers and sisters with folded hands don’t divide the Muslim votes after listening to the Shaitan who has taken money from the BJP. He passes many communal statements and initiate clashes between the Hindu and the Muslims.”

By ‘Shaitan’, Mamata Banerjee had referred to Indian Secular Front leader Abbas Siddiqui, who is contesting the polls in alliance with BJP and the left parties.

She had said, “a friend of BJP has come from Hyderabad. Along with a boy from Furfura Sharif he is spending crores of rupees and giving communal slogans. They are not only trying to divide Hindus and Muslims, but even attempting to split the Muslim votes,” attacking AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi and ISF chief Abbas Siddiqui.

Alleging that Siddiqui has taken money from BJP to divide Muslim votes, Banerjee had appealed to the Muslim voters to not let it happen. While requesting the Muslims to vote in unison for her party, she had then appealed the Hindus to not vote on the basis of religion. Alleging that BJP was planning to divide people on the basis of religion, she had asked Hindus not to vote for BJP.

After receiving the complaint from BJP delegation led by Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, EC scrutinised the speech of Mamata Banerjee, and found that it violates the Representation of Peoples Act and the Model Code of Conduct for elections. As per EC, the speech violates section 123 (3), 3(A) of the Representation of Peoples Act, 1951, and clauses 2, 3 and 4 of Part I of the General Conduct of Model Code of Conduct for the guidance of political parties and candidates.

Twitter spat: BJP MP Nishikant Dubey and Congress MLA Irfan Ansari spar over who will inaugurate newly constructed Godda railway station in Jharkhand

A war of words erupted on Twitter between BJP MP from Godda constituency in Jharkhand, Nishikant Dubey, and Congress MLA from the state Dr Irfan Ansari over who would be inaugurating the newly constructed railway station in Godda.

The online spat between the two started after BJP MP Nishikant Dubey took to Twitter to share a notification that read that the inauguration of the new railway station in Godda would be done through video-conferencing by the central government.

The inauguration ceremony is slated to take place on 8 April 2021.

According to Dubey, the decision to virtually inaugurate the station was taken after efforts were undertaken by the Hemant Soren government to stop its physical inauguration. Taking a swipe at the Soren government, Dubey tweeted that the COVID-19 threat existed only for the opening of the new railway station. For other events such as massive gatherings, election meetings, and political rallies that continued uninterrupted in the state, there was no threat from the coronavirus, Dubey quipped.

A few minutes later, Congress MLA Dr Irfan Ansari responded saying that come what may the inauguration of the Godda railway station will happen at the hands of Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren.

Godda railway station (Source: indiarailinfo.com)

“Stay on the ground. This is not Bhagalpur, it is Jharkhand. People here do not tolerate making false promises. You were making big claims of inaugurating the railway station, seems like it is not going to happen. Godda rail project Humsafar train will be flagged off by none other than our dynamic CM Hemant,” Dr Irfan Ansari tweeted.

Marathi film producer Swapna Patker alleges Sanjay Raut threatened her old mother, filed false cases to torture her family

Dr Swapna Patker, a Marathi film producer and renowned psychologist, revealed in a series of tweets today that Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut threatened her mother of dire consequences, tortured her family and trapped her friends in bogus cases.

After addressing a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking justice and fearing for her life, Dr Swapna has released a 40 tweet long thread detailing her complaint and allegations against Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut along with documented proof. In the letter to the PM, she had alleged she is being harassed, tortured and abused by Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut for the past eight years.

Dr Swapna in her thread claims that Sanjay Raut pressurized her mother and threatened to end her career if she does not oblige to him.

Narrating all the cases of torture and harassment, Dr Swpana alleges that she was trapped in a fake extortion case filed by Raut which was investigated by his good friend and encounter specialist, Praful Bhosale. Revealing the close tie between the two, she alleged that Raut invited Praful Bhosale to the music launch of her Marathi movie Balkadu and helped his brother get a flat cheaply in a popular builder’s residential project as a reward for torturing her.

It is interesting to note that retired ACP Praful Bhosale once worked under the ex-Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh and was named in the same case for which ex-API Sachin Vaze was suspended 16 years ago.

In an attempt to validate her allegation of harassment, Dr Swapna informed that Raut sent friend requests on a popular social media platform to all her friends and family and threatened her peers.

Raut also allegedly tried to trap Dr Swapna in a fake prostitution racket, got her dream project ‘Dr Rakhmabai’ shelved and made attempts to auction her property by pressurizing the banks.

Once said to have vacationed together with the Raut family, Dr Swapna alleges that Raut tried to separate her from her family and got her only friend Santosh Raut, a builder trapped in a bogus case of extortion. She writes, Santosh was taken in custody and the case was led by Pradeep Sharma, another former encounter cop who incidentally was summoned by NIA today in connection to the ongoing investigation of Sachin Vaze.

Dr Swapna had filed a writ petition in the Mumbai High Court, however, the hearing which was supposed to take place today was deferred yet again as informed to OpIndia.

The film producer said that she is in constant fear of her and her family’s safety and is trying to get her matter heard.

That I was duly reinstated in service on 6th June 2020.

That soon after my reinstatement there were certain attempts to reverse the reinstatement. Apparently then it was ordered by Hon Mr. Sharad Pawar to again place me under suspension. This was told to me by the Hon. Home Minister Mr. Anil Deshmukh over a phone from Nagpur.

That, at that time Hon. HM sir also told me that he will convince Hon. Pawar Saheb and for that purpose he (Hon. HM Sir) asked me to pay ₹ 2 crore. I had expressed my inability to pay any such an amount. On this, the Hon. HM sir asked me to pay it in later course.

That, I was came to be posted at the Criminal Intelligence Unit (CIU) of the DCB CID Mumbai.

That, in the month of October 2020, I was called by the Hon. HM sir in Sahyadri Guest-…

… scam case. There he reminded me of the ₹ 2 crores to be paid. I still expressed my inability to pay the same.

That, in the month of November 2020 I was approached by one person viz. Mr. Darshan Ghodawat. The said Mr. Ghodawat introduced himself a very close circle person of Hon. Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Ajt Pawar. The said Mr. Chodawat explained me about illegal Gutkha & Tobacco trade within the jurisdiction of the State of Maharashtra and also gave me certain details such as phone numbers etc.

That, the said that Mr. Ghodawat insisted that I should collect a monthly amount of ₹ 100 crores from these illegal Gutkha sellers. I had categorically denied to do any such illegal act. On my denying he (Mr. Ghodawat) warned me that I may either lose my post again.

That, since the 1st day of 2021 I started all-out efforts against illegal Gutkha sellers within the jurisdiction of Mumbai. Crores of worth rupees illegal Gutkha was seized and action was initiated against the owners of factories too.

That, on such action, Mr. Ghadawat came to my office and conveyed displeasure expressed by the Hon. Dy CM sir to him regarding initiation of action against these manufacturers and insisted me to ask those manufactures to meet either him or directly to the Hon. Dy CM sir. I categorically denied to comply to what Mr Ghodawat was insisting.

That, in the month of July / August 2020, I was called by Hon. Minister My. Anil Parab Saheb at his official bungalow. It was the same week in which the internal orders for DCP postings in Mumba was revised in 3/4 days. At the meeting the Hon. minister sir asked me to look into the SBUT complaint which was under preliminary enquiry and asked me to bring the trustee of the SBUT to him for negotiation about the enquiry. He also insisted to initiate primary talks to get ₹ 50 crores from the SBUT in order to close the said enquiry. That, in the month of January 2021, I was called by the Hon. Home Minister saheb at his official bungalow “Dyaneshwar”. PA Mr. Kundan was present there. The Hon. Minister sir told me there are approx. 1650 bars and restaurants in Mumbai and told me to collect ₹ 3 to 3.5 lakh each from these for him.

That, on this I told Hon. HM sir that as far as I know there would be about 200 bars and not 1650 as he was anticipating. I also told the Hon. HM sir that I would not be in a position to collect any amount from any such bar for him as it was beyond scope of my capabilities. Immediately after coming out of his chamber his PA Mr. Kundan advised me that I must comply with the instructions of the Hon. HM sir if I wish to keep my job and post intact. I still refused.

That, immediately after this meeting, I narrated the happenings to the Hon. CP sir. I also expressed my apprehension that sometime in near future I would be embroiled in a false controversy. The Hon CP sir encouraged me and categorically instructed me to not to involve in any such illegal collection of money from anyone and for anyone.

Your honour, I am putting these facts before you have to get justice for me.

And for this act of kindness I shall ever pray.
