While Munger video shows devotees protecting Maa Durga’s Murti in silence as the police unleashed blows, SP claims they shot their own

0

As violence gripped the town of Munger in Bihar during the Durga Puja immersion ceremony and led to the death of one participant, SP Munger Lipi Singh defended the police brutalities on the devotees, claiming that the stone-pelting from devotees provoked the ensuing violence. She also asserted that 20 policemen were injured by stone-pelting from the crowd.

Singh further added that one of the members of the crowd opened fire which led to the death of the 18-year-old devotee.

Videos of the incident tell a different story

However, the videos of the incident that is being shared on various social media platforms does not jibe with the assertions made by SP Munger. On the contrary, they demonstrate that Singh’s claim about devotees indulging in violence and stone pelting are a far cry from the reality.

As per the video shared in the above tweet, one can see police personnel raining batons on the peaceful devotees, who then scramble to surround the idol of Goddess Durga, presumably to protect her from the police assault.

Another video that is doing the rounds on the internet is about the purported locals in the region who pin the blame of the violence squarely on the police force. The locals claimed that the police started firing without issuing warning and later they did not even offer assistance to transport the injured to the hospital.

In yet another video from Munger, just before the police onslaught, devotees could be seen indulging in the Durga Puja celebrations. No kind of violence, as claimed by the SP Munger, can be witnessed in the video.

Though, SP Munger contended that the crowd resorted to stone-pelting during which about 20 policemen were injured, in the videos of the incidents that are being widely shared on social media websites, one cannot see streets littered with stones or bricks.

Police open fire at Durga Visarjan procession in Munger

Tension continues to grip Munger town and the surrounding areas in Bihar after violence was heaped at a Hindu procession for Durga idol immersion. An 18-year-old youth has reportedly been killed and several others injured in the firing that took place on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.

The violence, as per reports, broke out after Kotwali police asked Hindus not to delay the idol immersion procession of Shadipur Badi Durga. Traditionally, the idols are immersed after three days of Vijayadashami but this time, in view of the first phase of Assembly polls in the state on Wednesday, the administration had insisted on the immersion by 5 am on Tuesday.

Durga puja organizers, as instructed, had taken out the procession allegedly with DJs close to midnight as they headed for the immersion. The situation turned ugly around 11.50 pm when police officials used brutal force on Hindus going for Durga Puja Visarjan.

Waqar Zaka of Pakistani Roadies fame calls for ‘Digital Jihad’ against President of France

0

Waqar Zaka, who is well known for his Roadies-style show in Pakistan, has called for ‘Digital Jihad’ against President of France, Emmanuel Macron. In a Twitter video, he urged his followers to launch a movement on social media platforms against Macron. Showing his anger over the alleged controversial remarks made by Macron, he said that all everyone should come together and condemn Macron’s statement.

Several reports have emerged that stores in Islamic nations are removing French products marking their protests against the cartoons of Prophet Mohammad published in Charlie Hebdo magazine from France. Zaka has also urged his followers and fellow Muslims across the world to do the same. He asked the followers to trend #TwitterSuspendMarcon and #TwitterSuspendMarcoAccount and tag @/verified and @/twittersupport to push Twitter to suspend the Twitter account of France’s President.

Zaka explained the process to report the account on Twitter. He also said that instead of a physical attack on anyone, it is better to initiate ‘Digital Jihad’. He alleged that countries like France want Muslims to initiate an attack on an establishment linked to France so that they can claim they were right all along.

He indirectly hinted that several celebrities and influencers from the Muslim community are shying away from the issue as they do not want to lose endorsements. He urged his followers to tag and spam such celebrities and ask them to join Zaka in the movement to force Twitter to suspend the Twitter account of French President.

‘Nuke France’ – Pakistanis urged Imran Khan to attack France with nuclear weapons

Earlier, several netizens from Pakistan had urged Prime Minister Imran Khan to initiate a nuclear attack on France to take revenge for the repeated insult of Prophet Muhammad. Cricket Shoaib Akhtar also jumped the wagon and urged his followers to boycott products from France. Some netizens also prepared a list of French products popular in Islamic countries so that it gets easier to boycott them. However, one user asked to boycott Japanese products and tagged @/TwitterSports for some unknown reason.

Samuel Paty beheading

Earlier this month, French President Emmanuel Macron said that Islam is in crisis all over the world. The French President had also suggested closing down places of worship that are suspected of radicalisation. Shockingly, just two weeks later, a school teacher Samuel Paty was publicly beheaded by a radical Islamist for showing Prophet Muhammad’s cartoon in his class.

‘Unacceptable’, ‘highway robbery’: Opposition suffers meltdown after central government makes way for any Indian to buy land in J&K

The Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday notified a new land law in Jammu & Kashmir that provides Indians from the rest of the country with the opportunity to buy land in the Union Territory. Prior to the passage of the law, Indian citizens from elsewhere were legally forbidden from purchasing laws in the erstwhile state and the subsequent Union Territory following the abrogation of Article 370.

Following the passage of the new land law, opposition parties, as expected, are up in arms against the central government. There is a visible meltdown on social media from political parties with ‘secular’ credentials. Omar Abdullah called the amendment “unacceptable” claiming that “even the token of domicile has been done away with”.

Senior CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury describe the new land law as “highway robber” and declared, “This cannot be allowed”.

PDP supremo Mehbooba Mufti claimed the new land law is another step in the central government’s “nefarious designs to disempower and disenfranchise people of Jammu and Kashmir”. She further added that the passage of the emphasises the need for the people of all “three provinces of J&K” to fight unitedly. She was probably referring to Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. Quite clearly, Mehbooba Mufti does not appear to have come to terms with the fact that Ladakh will never be a part of Jammu and Kashmir again.

The Kashmir Committee of the Pakistani Parliament, too, joined in the charade to demonstrate their impotent rage. It claimed that the new land law is in violation of UN resolutions on Kashmir.

The meltdown was also evident in certain intellectual circles of the liberal end of the political spectrum. Devika Mittal, who claims to be an assistant professor at Delhi University, claimed that the new land law is an ‘act of invasion’ by a ‘fascist regime’.

It is pertinent to note here that the new land law is consistent with laws in the rest of India. Until now, people of Jammu & Kashmir could buy land in other regions of India but Indians from other states did not have the right to but land in J&K. The new law carries forward the intended purpose of the abrogation of Article 370, that is, further integration of J&K with the Indian mainstream.

Pakistan’s National Assembly passes resolution to bring back its envoy from France, but there’s a catch

0

After Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan condemned the alleged Islamophobic remarks of the French President Emmanuel Macron in a video address to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), now Pakistan’s National Assembly has passed a resolution yesterday asking Pakistani government to recall its ambassador to France in protest against the publication of images of Prophet Mohammed in France.

The resolution asked the Organisation for Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to boycott French products and designate March 15 as International Day to Combat Islamophobia. It also urged the non-OIC countries to offer legal assistance to Muslims residing in their countries for their grievance redressal while also calling upon the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights to start a global dialogue to counter Islamophobia.

Pakistan doesn’t have an envoy in France

The National Assembly resolution seems in line with Pakistan’s reaction after the French President’s alleged remarks. However, the interesting thing to note here is that Pakistan does not currently have an envoy in France. The parody country of Pakistan just does not fail to embarrass itself. Pakistan’s ambassador to France Moin-ul-Haq was transferred to as ambassador to China three months ago. Pakistan did not appoint his replacement in the Pakistani embassy in Paris since then.

Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi who was reportedly among the members of the National Assembly who moved the resolution was aware of the fact that there is no Pakistani ambassador in France at the moment. Qureshi reportedly did not inform the Assembly about the same in the heat of discussion.

Pakistan Foreign Office summoned French Envoy

Yesterday, French envoy in Pakistan Marc Baréty was summoned by Pakistan Foreign Office to inform about the country’s strong opposition to the public display of Charlie Hebdo cartoons and comments of the French President on radical Islam.

Imran Khan accused Macron of ‘Polarisation and Marginalisation’

After justifying the beheading of a teacher in France by Islamists in his UNGA address, Imran Khan toed the line of the Turkish President and accused the French President of polarisation and marginalistaion and said that this would lead to radicalisation. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogen had attacked President Macron saying that he needed a mental treatment.

Khan had also justified the beheading of a school teacher. He had stated that the ‘insult’ to the prophet is deeply hurtful to an Muslim and hence the showcasing of the Charlie Hebdo cartoons resulted in the brutal murder.

The Pakistani people, urged in by their PM and ministers, are calling for social media boycott of anything French.

Beheading of Samuel Paty

Samuel Paty, a school teacher, was publicly beheaded by a radical Islamist for showing a caricature of Prophet Muhammad to his students. He was beheaded by a Russian refugee Abdoullakh Abouyezidovitch who was inspired by an online campaign that was run against Paty for alleged blasphemy.

Bihar Elections Ground Report: Years after the media hype over Bill Gate’s visit, Musahar Tola in Jamsaut village is still waiting for development

OpIndia has been bringing to you reports from those places in Bihar that tell the true story of the state. In this series, we visited the ‘Musahar Tola’ in the Jamsaut village in Danapur sub-division near Patna in Bihar. In 2011, this village had made headlines when business magnate Bill Gates visited it along with his wife Melinda Gates.

Billionaire couple Bill and Melinda Gates who co-chair the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation were on a one-day visit to the village to review the progress of health projects funded by their foundation in partnership with the Bihar government aimed at reducing infant and maternal mortality. The foundation had made a five-year $80 million grant in partnership with the state government. The Gates’ visit was much hyped and many top state leaders, including CM Nitish Kumar, had met them. The Gates Foundation has spent a lot, but for some reasons, the village, and many other villages like it, are still trapped in poverty.

Nothing Changed since the visit of Bill Gates

We went to meet the girl named Rani, whom Bill Gates had adopted during his visit to the village, to see what has changed in her life ever since. Rani is the youngest of the four children of her parents. She lives in the village and studies in the third standard in the local primary school. Her mother told us that neither Rani nor her family received anything after the visit of Bill Gates to the village.

It has been ten years since the couple visited the village but nothing seems to have changed for the villagers who are still living in poverty. There are power lines in the village but no electricity. Some families got houses allocated by the government but others did not. Similarly, in some houses toilets were built but in others, there were no toilets. It appears that whatever little has been done in the name of development has not reached all the people uniformly.

Media limelight for one day, Jamsaut is still untouched by Development

Broken roads and a shabby building of a government primary school welcomed us in Jamsaut village. On a tour of the village, we found that the village is untouched by development. It is deprived of several government schemes. On interacting with the people in the village, we got to know that the benefits of government schemes have not reached them. They still use clay stoves to cook as only a few houses in the village have LPG connection. Most of the houses in the village looked shabby with only bare brick walls and roof. The only relief seemed to be a water tank that was set up in the village under the Nal Jal Yojana of the Bihar government. Villagers told that they get full-day water supply from the tank.

The government primary school in the village was closed due to Covid-19. Locals told us that prior to lock down the school was open and teachers used to come for teaching. However, the building of the school was in a very bad condition. The roof of the school building had the iron bars visible in several places where the plaster had fallen off. The dilapidated building looked as if it can fall off any day.

Most of the houses in the village are shabby, and many households are yet to receive the benefits of Awas Yojna and Ujjwala Yojna, even some are yet to receive the monetary help for building toilets. Electrification seems done but the electricity supply is problematic. Many people are facing joblessness. Many are travelling to other states for livelihood.

Overall, the village and the family which was shot to limelight for a day when the billionaire philanthropist couple had visited, seems still trapped in the same place that where it was a decade ago. The irony is that the village is situated close to the capital city Patna. Locals say that many in the village are graduates, some are even post-graduates, but there are no jobs.

Bihar polls are set to begin with first phase polls scheduled for October 28. A local villager, who did not know who Narendra Modi was, told us that people always cast their votes in elections. When asked about how they decided whom to vote for, he said that villagers discuss among themselves about whom to vote for and then vote for the candidate unanimously selected.

Hansa Research says it has no business dealings with Republic TV, Mumbai Police’s leak to Economic Times falls flat

Hansa Research has categorically denied claims made by Mumbai Police which were quoted in a report in The Economic Times where it was alleged that they paid exorbitant sums of money to Republic TV. The Economic Times claimed that it has been informed by sources that a particular one-time payment made by Hansa Research to Republic TV worth Rs. 32 lakhs is under the scanner in the alleged TRP scam.

“Hansa has made a payment of 32 lakh to Republic TV. When the company’s (Hansa) director was questioned on the same, he claimed he wasn’t aware. However, when Republic TV CFO S Sundaram was asked about it, he accepted that the company had received a payment of 32 lakh from Hansa. But he couldn’t recall the details and promised to get back on the same,” a police official with information on the investigation into the alleged TRP scam told ET.

In a press release, Hansa Research has denied all such allegations. It said, “Hansa Research categorically states that it has had no business dealings with Republic TV and no payment has been made to the Channel nor received from the Channel. In a statement reported in the Media, the Crime Branch spokesperson investigating the TRP scam has alleged that Hansa Research has made payment of Rs 32 lakhs to Republic TV which is incorrect.”

Shekar Swamy, Group CEO Hansa stated, “Our Group company Hansa Vision India Pvt Ltd is in the advertising business. It purchases advertising time and space in various TV channels, newspapers, radio, digital platforms and other media regularly for its clients. This is normal, routine business. The last time Hansa Vision has purchased advertising time in Republic TV was two years ago for the period from Sept 2017 to Oct 2018 for a value of Rs 108 lakhs. The Mumbai Police is perhaps incorrectly linking this with the current TRP related investigation.”

Since then, the firm has purchased advertising time from 55 TV channels for the sum of Rs. 13.42 crores on behalf of its clients. In 2019 and 2020, the firm has not bought any advertising time from Republic TV, the press release said.

Shekar Swamy added further, “The Hansa Research CEO and team have been repeatedly called by API Mr Sachin Vaze of the Crime Branch, and asked to stay till late hours. They are cooperating with the investigation and have submitted various documents as asked for. Hansa Research and the people working for this company, have nothing to do with the advertising activities of the group company Hansa Vision.”

According to the ET report, the police official claimed that the transaction was “suspicious” and was being probed. It is pertinent to note here that the chain of events began with Mumbai Commissioner of Police Param Bir Singh accusing Republic TV in the TRP scam even though the Hansa Research report and the FIR filed on the basis of it named India Today. It was after Param Bir Singh went public that the Hansa report surfaced putting the Mumbai Police in a tight spot.

Subsequently, by the 11th of October, Republic TV CEO and CFO were questioned for a total of over 20 hours. The questions largely included how Republic TV managed to acquire the Hansa Report that had implicated India Today and not Republic TV. Essentially, the report that busted holes in the claims made by the Mumbai Police and the Mumbai Police Commissioner. Their journalist Pradeep Bhandari was also summoned and booked in non-bailable offences. He later got anticipatory bail.

On the 16th of October, witnesses suddenly emerged levelling accusations against Republic TV. We have reported on the 23rd of October on a conversation that shows witnesses are being coerced into naming Republic TV in the TRP scam. Union Minister Prakash Javadekar condemned the conduct of the Mumbai Police in an exclusive interview with OpIndia.

Bollywood: Actress Malvi Malhotra stabbed for rejecting marriage proposal of Facebook friend

On Monday, actress Malvi Malhotra was stabbed by a Facebook friend near Fisheries University Road in Versova, Mumbai. The incident took place after the actress turned down the marriage proposal of a Facebook friend. The actress is known for her role in the film ‘Udaan’.

As per reports, the accused has been identified as Kumar Mahipal Singh. The attacker, who is a film producer by profession, became friends with Malvi on Facebook in 2019. She had met the accused a few times. However, the actress was forced to file a complaint with the police after Kumar Mahipal Singh prodded her for getting into a relationship and marrying him. The actress was forced to block him from all social media platforms. When Malvi cut off ties with the accused, he chose to stab her.

The actress was returning home from a coffee shop at around 9 when Singh said that he wanted to speak to her. When Malvi refused to comply, the accused stabbed her with a knife. She has suffered injuries on her right wrist, stomach and a finger on the left hand.

Actress Malvi Malhotra said to be stable now

Singh fled the crime scene, reportedly in his Audi car, and is yet to be arrested. The actress, who is under medical care at Kokilaben Ambani Hospital in Mumbai, is said to be stable now. India-US 2+2 talks: Geo-spatial defence pact signed, US extends its support to India amidst border aggression from China

The third edition of the India-US 2+2 talks was held on Tuesday in New Delhi between US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Defence Secretary Mark Esper and India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

During the 2+2 dialogue, both sides talked on a host of crucial issues, including exploring avenues to further expand the already close ties between the militaries of the two countries as well as broader issues of mutual interest in the Indo-Pacific region.

BECA pact signed between the US and India

A landmark Defence pact called BECA which stands for Basic Exchange and Cooperation Agreement was signed between the two countries. Through BECA, India would get access to classified geo-spatial data as well as critical information having significant military applications from the United States.

In his brief to the press following the high-level talks held at Hyderabad House in the national capital, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh hailed the signing of BECA with the US as a “significant” move.

“We held a comprehensive discussion on an array of issues critical to both countries. The signing of BECA with US is a momentous move. Our military to military cooperation with US is also moving forward very well. We also identified projects for joint development of defence equipment. We reaffirmed our commitment to peace and security in Indo-Pacific region,” Singh said.

The talks between the United States and India at 2+2 dialogue assumes special significance given that India is embroiled in a prolong standoff with China along the Line of Actual Control in Eastern Ladakh. It is also particularly important for the Donald Trump administration in the United States whose reelection bid pivoted around the criticism of China for its unfair trade practices, growing assertiveness and its role in the coronavirus pandemic.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo calls out China and CCP, says they are no friend of democracies

The US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo acknowledged the threat China and the Chinese Communist Party(CCP) pose for the region and the world.

“Our leaders & citizens see with increasing clarity that the Chinese Communist Party is no friend to democracy, rule of law, transparency… I’m glad to say India & US are taking all steps to strengthen cooperation against all threats & not just those posed by CCP,” Pompeo said.

He mentioned the steps that US and India are taking to strengthen the bilateral cooperation against all manner of threats and not just those posed by Chinese Communist Party. Pompeo cited the joint cooperation on cyber issues and the joint exercises by two navies in Indian ocean.

Mike Pompeo expresses his solidarity over loss of lives in Galwan Valley clash

Pompeo also spoke about the killing of 20 Indian soldiers at the Galwan Valley and expressed his solidarity with India against the Chinese aggression.

“We visited National War Memorial to honour brave men and women of Indian armed forces who sacrificed for the world’s largest democracy, including 20 killed by PLA in Galwan Valley. US will stand with India as they confront threats to their sovereignty and liberty,” Pompeo said.

Peace and stability in Indo-Pacific region was the focus of talks: S Jaishankar

The External Affairs Minister of India S Jaishankar said that the peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region was on the front burner of the 2+2 talks.

“The Indo Pacific region was the particular focus of our talks. We reiterated the importance of stability and peace and prosperity for all countries in this region. Discussions also covered developments in our neighbouring countries. We made clear that cross border terrorism is completely unacceptable,” Jaishankar briefed after the completion of talks with his US counterparts.

The US Secretary of Defence Mark Esper during the press briefing asserted that the expanding defence and security partnership between India and the US will keep the situation in the Indo-Pacific region under check as China seeks to expand expand its economic and military heft in the region. The BECA pact will arm India with sensitive satellite and sensor data and enable it to keep a close tab on the movements of Chinese warships in the Indian Ocean, he added.

“Based on our shared values and common interests, we stand shoulder-to-shoulder in support of a free and open Indo-Pacific for all, particularly in light of increasing aggression and destabilising activities by China,” Esper noted.

Anti Bengali posters in Meghalaya: BJP MLA seeks Himanta Biswa Sarma’s help to withdraw FIR against KSU president

Sanbor Shullai, BJP MLA from Meghalaya, has sought assistance from Himanta Biswa Sarma in withdrawing an FIR filed against Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) president Lambokstar Marngar by Amitesh Chakraborty, BJYM President of Cachar District in Assam, after the KSU put up racist posters against local Bengalis in the state.

Himanta Biswa Sarma serves as the Chairman of the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA). In a letter addressed to him, Sanbor Shullai said, “An incident like this, that unfortunately happened at Ichamati should have been prevented and avoided at all costs. This has led to an uneasy calm in the city of Shillong. The matter is a state’s affair and involvement or influence of elements from outside the state is not required. The matter is a local concern and should be best resolved peacefully by involving all the stake holder of the state. All genuine non-tribals of the state have always been supportive of all local issues and have been living at peace with the tribals for generations.”

Sanbor Shullai was referring to the violent clashes between two groups at Ichamati in May that led to the death of a KSU member. He continued, “The Northeastern states are all raising their concerns for the influx of illegal migrants. A misunderstanding on such fragile issue can jeopardize the peace among the generation in the state. The Non Tribals of the state have been living in harmony with the Khasis, Jaintias and Garos tribes who themselves are highly peace loving by nature. Thus as a responsible MLA of the BJP, I would request the president of BJYM Cachar District, Assam to kindly withdraw the FIR in best interest of the people of the state.”

“This will help in preventing downslide of the party and its image among its local bases. Rather we should look into a peaceful way of helping and working with local authorities and agencies to tackle the illegal immigrants issue and help strengthen the communal harmony prevalent among the genuine non -tribals and the tribals of the state. Hence, I sincerely request Shri Amitesh Chakraborty to kindly withdraw the files FIR against KSU President, Shri Lambokstar Marngar in the best interest of the people, state and the party,” added Sanbor Shullai.

The BJP MLA said that he has always protected the interests of the tribals and the “genuine” non-tribals. Earlier, the Khasi Students’ Union, which is an influential students’ body in Meghalaya, put up banners referring to all Bengalis in the state as ‘Bangladeshis’. The banners put up by KSU in various parts of Shillong, read, “All Meghalaya Bengalis are Bangladeshis” and “Khasiland for Khasis; Foreigners Go Away”.

Later, the Meghalaya Police brought down the banners and warned people against putting such racist posters targeting Bengali population in the state. The Police said legal action would be initiated against those trying to “incite communal disharmony”.

“Hindu ki beti hai toh koi bhi kuch bhi karega?” Nikita Tomar’s brother demands strict and swift punishment for her killers

0

The furore over the brutal killing of a 21-year-old Hindu girl named Nikita Tomar in Faridabad, Haryana has been growing. Expressing his fury over the state administration for slackening the investigation into the perpetrated crime, the brother of the deceased has demanded immediate action against the accused. “Hindu ki beti hain toh koi kuch bhi karega kya”, lambasted Nikita’s brother alleging that had it been a Muslim victim and a Hindu perpetrator, the entire administration would have been on its feet to punish the criminals.

Demanding assurance from the administration that their demands would be met and justice would be served quickly, the bereaved brother said that if the administration fails to act on time they will do the needful to avenge Nikita’s brutal murder.

The brother said that when Nikita was abducted earlier, the family had then too lodged an FIR, but the administration did not ensure punishment and they had to take back the case. “Were they waiting for our daughter to die?” lambasted the brother, asking the police to nab the second accused as soon as possible. “The second accused in the case is still on the run, we demand that he is arrested immediately and strict action is taken against the perpetrators,” said the brother.

Tauseef alias Sajid introduced himself as Rahul, clicked obscene pictures and used it to pressurise her to embrace Islam

We reported how the FIR filed by the victim on 25th October 2020, revealed that the main accused Sajid alias Tauseef who had introduced himself to the girl as Rahul had been harassing her since July 25, 2020. It was reported how Sajid had clicked obscene pictures of the victim and was using it to blackmail her to convert to Islam and marry him. The victim in her FIR had accused Sajid of forcefully confining and raping her.

Family demands SIT investigation

The victim’s relative has also testified that Tauseef alias Sajid started harassing Nikita three years ago. A few months back, too, a complaint was lodged against him for harassment and molestation. However, the family later dropped the case.

Lately, the accused again allegedly started hounding her and pressuring her to embrace Islam. The relative confirmed that the accused initially wanted to abduct her but killed her when she resisted to his demands. The family has now demanded that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) should be constituted to probe the case.

CCTV footage shows two assailants shooting at Nikita Tomar in broad daylight in Faridabad

Earlier in the day, a CCTV footage had shown how two assailants had shot the 21-year-old student in broad daylight outside the Aggarwal college in Ballabgarh, Faridabad. In the video, which went viral on social media, the assailant could be seen stepping out of his car and pulling out his revolver. Nikita is seen struggling to get free and manages to flee for a brief moment before the accused grabs her again. While Nikita struggles to free herself from the man, he then shoots her in the point-blank range. The other accused too got out of the car and pulled Tauseef back into the car. The duo then fled the crime scene.

A resident of SGM Nagar, Nikita was a final year B.Com student. After the incident, Nikita was rushed to the hospital, where she was declared brought dead.

Speaking about the incident, ACP (Ballabgarh) Jaiveer Rathi had informed that the primary accused in the case had been arrested. As per latest reports, the second accused, who was seen helping the murderer escape in a white car, has been arrested.

As per reports, Rehan, the second accused has been nabbed from Haryana’s Nuh. CM Manohar Lal Khattar has already ordered an SIT investigation into the case.
