French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo on Wednesday released a caricature of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the front-page of its latest edition taking a dig at him over his recent attacks against France.

The front-page caricature of Wednesday’s edition of Charlie Hebdo that was released online on Tuesday night depicts Erdogan in a white T-shirt and underpants, drinking a can of beer and lifting up the skirt of a woman wearing a hijab to reveal her naked bottom.

“Ooh, the prophet!” the character says in a speech bubble, while the title proclaims “Erdogan: in private, he’s very funny”.

Charlie Hebdo’s caricatures targeting Turkish President Erdogan came as a response after a war of words erupted between Erdogan, French President Macron and other European leaders after the beheading of French schoolteacher Samuel Paty by a Islamic terrorist this month.

Following the terror attack on French teacher in Paris last week and the subsequent actions of the French residents to publicly display ‘blasphemous’ Charlie Hebdo cartoons, French President had reacted strongly against the Islamic terror attack and had also vowed that France would stick to its secular traditions and laws guaranteeing freedom of speech which allow publications such as the virulently anti-religion Charlie Hebdo to produce cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed.

Days before French teacher Samuel Paty’s killing, Macron had made a sensational speech saying that “Islam is a religion that is in crisis today all over the world”,” plagued by radical temptations and by a yearning for a reinvented jihad which is the destruction of the other”.

France displays Charlie Hebdo cartoons on government building to express solidarity with deceased teacher

Days after the barbaric beheading of teacher Samuel Paty on the streets of Paris by a terrorist for showing the cartoons of Prophet Mohammad to his students, support poured in for the deceased teacher across the French communities who took to streets to condemn the killing of Samuel Paty. 

Amidst heavy security, the locals projected huge images of Charlie Hebdo cartoons and the images of Samuel Paty on a local government building as a symbolic tribute to the deceased teacher.

These cartoons of Prophet Mohammed have been used by Islamic terrorists as a justification to carry out several attacks especially in Europe. In 2015, Islamic terrorist had attacked offices of Charlie Hebdo after the satirical newspaper had published cartoons that depicted Muhammad, which is strictly prohibited in Islam.

Islamists around the world calls for boycott of France

However, the historic speech by Macron and his pronouncements to tackle Islamic terror has infuriated many Islamic countries, with many Islamic countries, especially Turkey and Pakistan took the lead to denounce the French President.

Lashing out at Macron for saying that Islam is in crisis all over the world, Turkish President had stated, “What is the problem of this person called Macron with Muslims and Islam? Macron needs treatment on a mental level…”.

The Turkish president further claimed, “What else can be said to a head of state who does not understand freedom of belief and who behaves in this way to millions of people living in his country who are members of a different faith. First of all, have mental checks.”

After Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan hit out at French President Emmanuel Macron for his alleged Islamophobic comments, Islamists around the world had come forward to boycott French products. Pakistanis, who are perennially unemployed, took to Twitter to trend #boycottfranceproducts. Even Muslims in the Middle East and the Arab world have joined Pakistanis in their calls for boycotts of French products. Shops in Kuwait, Qatar, Jordan and Palestinian territories have started taking French products off their shelves.

Hard-line Iranian newspaper Vatan-e Emrooz depicted him as a literal devil in its publication while thousands of protestors called him ‘Satan-worshipper’ in Bangladesh.

Not just Muslims in the Arab world but even radical Islamic organisations in India such as Raza Academy had initiated a campaign demanding that Muslim countries issue a fatwa against French President Emmanuel Macron for displaying cartoons on Prophet Mohammed by Charlie Hebdo were projected onto government buildings.

Under intense backlash from Muslim countries, European countries have expressed their support to France and its President Emmanuel Macron for his latest campaign to support free speech and end radical Islamic terror in the region.

European leaders including German Chancellor Angela Merkel have defended Macron after Erdogan suggested he needed “mental checks”.

“They are defamatory comments that are completely unacceptable, particularly against the backdrop of the horrific murder of the French teacher Samuel Paty by an Islamist fanatic,” German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s spokesman Steffen Seibert said.

Meanwhile, in India, social media users expressed their support to France and trended #IStandWithFrance. Several social media users tweeted with this hashtag people to convey their support to Macron’s strong decision to take a stand against extremism in France.

In a shocking revelation, Nikita Tomar’s family has revealed that not only Touseef (earlier media reports named his as Taufeeq), but even his mother was forcing Nikita to convert to Islam. As reported by Times of India, Touseef’s mother called Nikita several times and asked her to convert to Islam.

As per reports, Nikita and Touseef studied in same school in Faridabad, Haryana and were batchmates. Nikita was a topper in class 12 and was preparing for UPSC. After graduating from school in 2018, Nikita took up commerce while Touseef took up a course in physiotherapy.

In 2018, Touseef reportedly abducted Nikita. A case was filed back then but after a Panchayat was held, it was withdrawn. Nikita’s family alleges that Touseef’s family pressurised them into withdrawing the case as they are politically influential.

Touseef’s Congress connection

According to reports, Touseef is the grandson of Kabir Ahmed, a Congress leader who was elected as an MLA from Haryana’s Nuh constituency in 1975 and from the Tauru constituency in 1982. He continued to be Khanpur and Raisika village sarpanch for almost 20 years. Khanpur and Raisika are located in Nuh Tehsil of Mewat district in Haryana.

Further, Touseef’s late uncle Khurshid Ahmad was a Congress MP of Haryana and was an ex-Cabinet minister of Haryana. Khurshid Ahmed’s son and Touseef’s cousin Aftab Ahmed was elected as MLA from Nuh, Mewat on Congress ticket and has been a Minister as well.

Nikita Tomar murder

On Monday, 21-year-old Nikita Tomar was shot to death in broad daylight by Touseef after she repeatedly turned down his advances. He had allegedly repeatedly asked her to convert to Islam as well. The shocking incident was caught on camera, visuals of which have now gone viral. Touseef and his accomplice Rehan were arrested.

A 29-year-old man identified as Sushil was stabbed to death and his two brothers Anil and Sunil, were severely injured after a petty fight over loud music escalated. Four accused, named Shahnawaz, Aafaq, Chand and Haseen were later arrested. The incident took place at Mahendra Park in north-west Delhi near Adarsh Nagar metro station.

Fight over loud music

As per the reports, a fight broke out over loud music which escalated when Chand and his brothers took a knife from a nearby meat shop and attacked Sunil and his brothers.

As per eyewitnesses quoted by media reports, the attackers, came with an intention to fight and the loud music was just the trigger they were looking for. “They were just talking and suddenly they took out the knives and attacked the brothers,” an eyewitness said. Another eyewitness said that this was a preplanned conspiracy. “They just asked to turn down the volume and suddenly started abusing. Suddenly they removed the knives and stabbed them,” the eyewitness said adding that the father and mother of the accused were also involved.

Soon, the brothers, Sushil, Anil and Sunil were admitted to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial (BJRM) Hospital where Sushil was reported to be brought dead.

Four arrested

Based on the complaint filed by Sunil, Police have registered a case was registered. The four accused are now apprehended by the police and investigation is currently underway. Sushil’s brothers are now shifted to Safdarjung hospital for further treatment.

In a shocking incident, an office-bearer of the Hindu organisation in Tamil Nadu – Indu Makkal Katchi (IMK) was attacked by members belonging to controversial MP Thol Thirumavalavan’s Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) at Vedachandur in Dindigul district on Monday, reports CommuneMag.

According to the reports, the VCK members stabbed an IMK member identified as Manikandan Prabhu, who worked as the in-charge of Vedanthur Assembly constituency for IMK.

Manikandan, who is critical after sustaining injuries, has been admitted to the Dindigul Government Hospital and is currently undergoing intensive treatment.

Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu police have registered a case against VCK members. Two persons have been arrested in connection with the case, while others have absconded.

Thol Thirumavalavan’s VCK perpetrating violence, Thirumavalavan should be banned under NSA: IMK

IMK’s founder leader Arjun Sampath slammed VCK and said that this violent and undemocratic attack against their cadres is highly condemnable.

He added that the VCK which has been indulging and perpetrating violence. It should be banned and the National Security Act should be slapped on Thol. Thirumavalavan for disturbing social harmony through his distasteful remarks on Tamil Hindu women, the IMK leader said.

Arjun Sampath also added that they would be organizing a state-wide democratic protest on October 28 to condemn the undemocratic act of VCK adding that they would be submitting  a petition to the District Collector and Superintendent of Police to take action against the perpetrators.

On Tuesday, the IMK’s women wing protested demanding a ban on VCK after Thol Thirumavalavan’s hate speech against Hindu women and scriptures.

Thol Thirumavalavan hate speech against Hindus

Earlier this week, Thol Thirumavalavan, the Member of Parliament from Chidambaram constituency of Tamil Nadu, sparked a massive controversy by making hate speech against Hindus by saying that Hindu religious scriptures treated women as ‘sex workers’.

Thol Thirumavalavan, the founder of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), who won 2019 Lok Sabha elections under a UPA-DMK alliance ticket from Chidambaram constituency, recently spoke in an online seminar organised by a Periyarist group. In his speech, the controversial anti-Hindu ‘activist’-cum-politician said that all Hindu women are ‘prostitutes’ according to Sanatana dharma.

The Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) chief Thol Thirumavalavan spoke about Periyar and hailed him for ‘helping’ break the Brahmanical ideologies that were taught by Hindu scriptures.

Thol Thirumavalavan has a history of indulging in such anti-Hindu rants. Last year in November, Thol Thirumavalavan had made offensive statements against Hindu temples triggering a massive uproar across social media.

In a major turn of events in the Bollywood drugs case, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Tuesday raided actress Deepika Padukone’s manager Karishma Prakash’s residence in Mumbai.

According to the reports, the NCB carried out raids at Karishma’s Versova residence and recovered 1.7 grams of charas and at least 2 bottles of CBD oil.

Speaking to the media after the raids, an NCB official said, “Prakash’s name cropped up during the questioning of one of the drug peddlers arrested by us in the case in which we are looking to bust drug networks around Bollywood. Based on the information, we raided her residence today. We found 1.7 grams of charas and at least two bottles of CBD oil.”

Reportedly, Karishma was not present at her house while the raid was carried out. The office revealed that it happened in presence of her acquaintances. Karishma Prakash has been called in for questioning later today. However, her phone has been unreachable.

Meanwhile, according to the officer, Deepika Padukone’s manager Karishma has violated sections of the NDPS Act, however, ruled out Deepika Padukone’s involvement in the case.

Deepika Padukone summoned by NCB

It is pertinent to note that Karishma Prakash was summoned by the central investigative agency earlier after a series of WhatsApp conversations had gone viral where Deepika Padukone was found allegedly asking for hash (or hashish, drug made from the cannabis plant) from a certain person named ‘K’, who many believe is her manager, Karishma Prakash.

Reportedly, the conversations, believed to have happened in 2017, were a part of a group called ‘DP+Ka+KWAN’ for which Deepika Padukone was the admin. The group was formed by Jaya Saha and its admins were Deepika Padukone and Karishma Prakash.

During the interrogation, the NCB officials had confronted Deepika Padukone with the digital evidence gathered from Jaya Saha’s phone that showed the actor’s chats about procuring ‘maal’ for her.

Bollywood drug case

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has unearthed a massive drug case in Bollywood. The names of many influential actors, producers, filmmakers have appeared in the drug link case leading a summons from the Narcotics Control Bureau.

Earlier, the NCB had summoned Bollywood actress Shraddha Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan to appear before them for questioning in connection with the drug case.

Addition to these, actor Rakul Preet Singh and celebrity fashion designer Simone Khambatta were also grilled by the NCB, that led to further disclosures in the drug racket in the film industry.

The horrific violence that broke out during Durga Visarjan in Munger, Bihar has left people wondering as to what transpired on the fateful night that led to devotees being fired at, claiming the life of an 18-year old boy and leaving many injured. Some videos relating to the violence have surfaced providing a glimpse of the events that happened that night.

In one video that appears to have been made from the top of a building shows people running helter-skelter on the street as security personnel can be seen chasing them. People clear out of the street running in all directions on seeing the security personnel. Thereafter, two gunshots are heard being fired.

The other video shows a crowd of people on the road with Durga Maa murti. There are devotional songs playing in the background and the people in the crowd can be seen running towards the Durga Maa murti. Few moments later, a series of gunshots jolt the people who start running around. A man can be seen walking with a limp.

Eyewitness account of the incident

The eyewitnesses of Munger violence put the blame on the police for opening fire on innocent devotees without giving a prior warning. One of the eyewitnesses talking to media named two local SHOs in the incident.

He said that people agreed to speed up the procession but in the meantime, the police received a phone call, which the witnesses guessed to be of SP Munger Lipi Singh as the cops referred to the person on call as ‘Madam’. The eyewitness claimed that following the phone call, the police fired one warning short which dispersed the crowd and then opened fire on the people.

In the video, he says that a young boy standing next him received a bullet in his head which broke his skull open and he collapsed on the spot. The eyewitness also saw few other people receiving gunshot injuries some of whom, he claimed, were admitted to the nearby hospital. He told said he and his nephew also received two gunshots. He further alleged that the two local SHOs and the accompanying personnel did not even to take the injured to the hospital. Local people came to help and admitted the injured people in the hospital.

The eyewitnesses appealed to the state BJP, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and PM Modi to immediately suspend the two SHOs and demanded that the matter be investigated by the CBI.

Claims of SP Munger

Following the violence inflicted on Hindu devotees in Munger, SP Munger Lipi Singh denied the police brutality and said that the devotees had resorted to stone pelting and that it was a gunshot fired from the crowd that claimed the life the 18-year old boy. However, videos of the incident doing rounds on social media tell a different story.

In a shameful attempt to whitewash the brutal murder of Nikita Tomar in Faridabad by Tauseef, ABP News interviewed Tauseef’s uncle Javed Ahmed who out rightly denied the allegations of Love Jihad and said that there was no angle of religious conversion in the matter. The accused comes from a highly influential political family. His uncle Javed Ahmed had contested election from Sohna on Bahujan Samaj Party’s ticket. Speaking to ABP News Ahmed said that he condemned the incident and that he stood with the family of Nikita Tomar. He said that Nikita was his daughter too.

ABP provides platform to uncle of accused Tauseef

When the journalist asked him whether he was aware that his nephew was in possession of a weapon, Ahmed said that he had no knowledge about it. “Nhi Yadav Saab, bilkul bhi nahi. Ye kaha se hathiyar aya hai kon sa hathiyar hai, iske bare me hume na koi knowledge thi na hai (No Yadav Saab, absolutley not. I did not have and still do not have any knowledge about what the weapon was and where it came from.)”, said Ahmed.

Ahmed expressed astonishment when asked whether Tauseef ever talked at home about marrying the victim and converting her and said, “Shobhna ji mai maafi chahunga apse, ye dharm parivartan kya hai? Kon sa dharm aisa h jo dusre dharm k bare me burai karta ho? Manne ka tareka alag alag hai dharm to sare he ek hain. Hum to sare dharm ko manne wale hain. Sab dharmo ki izzat karte hain. (Pardon me Shobhna ji but what is religious conversion? Which religion talks ill about other religions? All religions are same only the beliefs are different. We believe in all religions and respect them all.)”

Javed Ahmed denied knowing the other boy named Rehan who was accompanying Tauseef when he shot Nikita Tomar. Rehan pulled Tauseef inside the car and drove away he killed Nikita. The entire spectacle of providing a platform to the family of the accused to whitewash the religious angle of the crime is utterly disgraceful.

Accused introduced himself as ‘Rahul’

A 21-year-old student named Nikita Tomar was shot dead in broad daylight by two men outside the Aggarwal college in Ballabgarh, Faridabad yesterday. She had filed a complaint of molestation and harassment against one of the accused, Tauseef last month and a compromise was reached later. An FIR was filed by Nikita a day before her murder against the accused for harassing her and trying to convert her to Islam.

According to the FIR, the accused had introduced himself to her as Rahul. He had taken her to a Maulvi who gave her a drink laced with sedative after drinking which she fell unconscious. The accused then captured her nude pictures and blackmailed her. Nikita’s family has been protesting making certain demands relating to the investigation in the case. Their demands have been accepted.

Media whitewashing of crimes involving Muslims

This is not the first incident where a mainstream media channel has indulged in whitewashing of a crime involving a Muslim accused. Recently Times of India had concealed the identity of a Muslim accused in a case of Love Jihad where the accused pretended to be Hindu and kidnapped a minor Hindu girl after luring her into a love affair. In another incident that happened in Bhopal, Mahdya Pradesh three Muslim men gangraoed a girl for a month and blackmailed her with a video of their act.

PTI reported the incident but without revealing the names of the accused. The same PTI was story was reported by several mainstream media portals. In yet another incident the murder of Hindu boy named Rahul Rajput by a Muslim mob was described by Marathi News outlet News 18 Lokmat as the consequence of an inter-caste love affair. The list of such incidents is never ending and it keeps growing feeding on the ignorance of gullible readers.

Director-producer Karan Johar who has been in the line of fire over allegations of propagating nepotism in Bollywood and also for his alleged involvement in the drug cartel following the death of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput has once again come under the hammer. The Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) has issued a Show Cause Notice to his production house- Dharma Productions on October 25 following complaints that a lot of waste generated by the film crew, including personal protective equipment (PPE), was dumped in the Goan beach village of Nerul after shooting was completed earlier this month.

The Entertainment Society of Goa had taken cognisance after Lokhancho Ekvott Goa, a social movement to save the villages and heritage of Goa, reported how a shoot by Karan Johar owned Dharma Productions, directed by Shakun Batra and starring Deepika Padukone and others, left tonnes of trash around that area after pack up.

The issue came to the fore after residents and locals of Nerul outraged over the stinking and rotting garbage and other unsegregated waste, dumped by the production house. They complained to the panchayat and circulated images and videos of the uncleared garbage on social media. 

Videos and photos of piles of garbage dumped in Goa by Dharma Production’s crew goes viral on social media

Photos of a swathe of land covered in plastic and other waste in the village did the rounds on social media platforms after shooting wrapped up more than a week ago. Piles of biomedical waste including PPE kits, masks, sanitary napkins, etc. and unsegregated garbage, and tons of plastic waste, including plates, glasses and cutlery were seen dumped in the area.

The locals alleged that the garbage generated out of the shoot per day was nearly equivalent to 10 days of garbage generated by the entire village. What made matters worse was that the garbage was not segregated and packed all-together in huge garbage bags which were left by the Nerul roadside. Stray animals attacked the garbage, tearing up the bags and causing the garbage to scatter and be strewn about the entire roadside.  

It is pertinent to note here that according to the Directorate of Health Services protocol, all medical gear, including PPEs and other gear used for Covid-19 protection should be scientifically disposed of, using incinerators.

Biomedical waste, including PPEs from health centres and government hospitals, is routinely sent to the Goa Medical College (GMC) and hospital’s disposal facility. However, in this case, it was dumped by the roadside, said ESG.

Miffed by this extremely careless behaviour, the Lokhancho Ekvott – a group of activists in Goa has demanded a public written apology from Dharma Productions and Karan Johar. The Lokhancho Ekvott spokesperson had said they would move the Bombay High Court bench at Goa next week, against Dharma Productions for breaking the laws of the land and not even attempting to make amends.

Lambasting at the production house, the group of activists had said that if Dharma Production and Karan Johar does not apologize to Goa and its people within 48 hours, the Lokhancho Ekvott would courier parcels of garbage to Karan Johar’s house and the Dharma Productions office in Mumbai.

One of the top executives of Facebook India, Ankhi Das, head of public policy for India, South and Central Asia has quit from her position to pursue her interests in public service, a statement released by the company said.

The statement released by Ajit Mohan, the head of Facebook India, said Ankhi Das was leaving Facebook to pursue her “interest in public service”.

He also said, “Ankhi was one of our earliest employees in India and played an instrumental role in the growth of the company and its services over the last 9 years. She has been a part of my leadership team over the last 2 years, a role in which she has made enormous contributions. We are grateful for her service and wish her the very best for the future.”

The resignation from Ankhi Das came weeks after she was alleged of interfering in the company’s content moderation policy in the country to show the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in a favourable light.

Das had appeared before a Parliamentary panel last week in connection with political content on social media and Facebook’s stand on data protection bill. According to the sources, she was grilled for more than 2 hours and was asked demanding questions by the panel members belonging to different political parties.

Last month, Facebook India Head Ajit Mohan had appeared before the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information and Technology chaired by Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, on the purported misuse of social media platforms.

Wall Street Journal article accused higher officials in Facebook of showing bias towards the BJP

Ankhi Das has been in the soup after the WSJ posted an article in which they alleged that higher officials in Facebook India are showing favourable bias towards political and condoning religious hate comments made by the users. The media house said that Facebook is not taking any action against the accounts that are linked to BJP. The article gave a means to the opposition party to attack Facebook and the BJP-led government at the centre.

Some users, including Nidhi, ex-journalist NDTV, left Facebook to mark protest. Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said in a tweet that he would raise the issue in front of the Parliamentary Committee and said, “Our Parliamentary committee will, in the normal course, consider testimony under the topic “Safeguarding citizens’ rights & prevention of misuse of social/online news media platforms”. The subject is squarely within the IT Cmt’s mandate & Facebook has been summoned in the past.”

Soon after the publication of the WSJ report, Das filed a complaint with the Delhi Police Cyber Cell unit after she allegedly received threats and offensive messages on social media. The former Facebook Public Policy head for India, South and Central Asia had attributed the threats to the publication of the WSJ report. The brutal murder of a 21-year-old Hindu student named Nikita Tomar in full public view by two men outside the Aggarwal college in Ballabgarh, Faridabad, has left the nation reeling in shock. A day before, she had filed an FIR accusing Sajid alias Rahul of harassment and trying to force her to convert to Islam.

The family of the deceased have called the killing of the 21-year-old a case of ‘love jihad’. The girl’s brother had said that Tauseef, the main accused, was forcing his sister to convert her religion to Islam. Now, according to new details that have emerged in the case, Tauseef, the prime accused in the case, reportedly belongs to a family of influential Congress politicians.

Congress’ link with the prime accused in Nikita Tomar murder case emerges

According to reports, Tauseef is the grandson of Kabir Ahmed, a Congress leader who was elected as an MLA from Haryana’s Nuh constituency in 1975 and from the Tauru constituency in 1982. He continued to be Khanpur and Raisika village sarpanch for almost 20 years. Khanpur and Raisika are located in Nuh Tehsil of Mewat district in Haryana.

Moreover, Tauseef’s late uncle Khurshid Ahmad was a Congress MP of Haryana and was an ex-Cabinet minister of Haryana. Khurshid Ahmed’s son and Taufeeq’s cousin brother Aftab Ahmed was elected as MLA from Nuh, Mewat on the ticket of Congress Party and has been a Minister as well.

Political pressure being exerted to save Tauseef

The deceased’s brother has revealed in an interview to the media that a lot of political pressure is being exerted to save Tauseef. He has also named Congress leader Aftab Ahmed in his statement.

Since Tauseef’s connection with the Congress party has come to the fore, social media has been outraging asking why the Congress scions and the Congress friendly media, which had created such a hue and cry over the Hathras incident are maintaining a stoic silence over the brutal killing of Nikita Tomar.

While victim’s family claims Love Jihad, Tauseef’s uncle and Congress MLA denies allegations

Interestingly, while the victim’s family has claimed that this was a case of Love Jihad where the accused, Tauseef pressurised the victim to embrace Islam, Tauseef’s uncle Javed Ahmed has claimed that the allegations of conversion and love jihad are wrong and baseless. He added that he did not know about the weapon in Tauseef’s possession.

Angry over the incident, a group of protesters staged a demonstration and blocked the road in Faridabad Tuesday. The woman’s family is also part of the dharna. Protests are also being held outside the college of the woman with her friends demanding stringent punishment to the accused.

The victim’s mother has urged the authorities to take strong action against the accused, saying she will not cremate her daughter until the accused is “encountered.”

Meanwhile, the Haryana Police on Tuesday arrested the two accused Tauseef and Rehan who allegedly shot dead a 21-year-old girl Nikita Tomar in Ballabhgarh, Faridabad on Monday. They were arrested from Mewat by the 10-member SIT constituted by the Haryana Police to nab the culprits.
