Delhi doctor provides free cataract Surgery for ‘Baba ka Dhaba’ couple

Help and support for the elderly ‘Baba Ka Dhaba’ couple continue to pour in. Dr Samir Sud, an ophthalmologist from Delhi, has offered free eye check-up and cataract surgery for the couple. Vasundhara Tankha Sharma, who shared the video on Twitter that was made by Gaurav Wasan, shared another update in which she informed that Dr Sud, who is the father of her friend, while watching the couple’s videos observed that both Kanta Prasad and Badami Devi have a cataract. He stepped up and ensured that the elderly couple get their cataract surgery done free of cost.

In her tweet, Vasundhara informed that Dr Sud from Sharp Sight Eye Hospital in Delhi offered free check-up and surgery to the elderly couple. A report in TV9 Bharatvarsh has stated that the Sharp Sight Eye Hospital has done the necessary check-ups and the elderly couple are currently being treated there.

The story of ‘Baba Ka Dhaba’

On 7th October, a video started to go viral on social media platforms where an elderly couple was seen weeping due to the struggle during corona time. The couple ran an eatery in Malviya Nagar, Delhi, and was facing a hard time due to lockdown. The video was shared equally by netizens and celebrities who urged everyone to help the couple.

YouTubers and social media influencers like Madhur, aka The Placard Guy, went to the location to provide support to the elderly couple. The small eatery was also extensively covered by mainstream media. As the couple has received the much-required help, requests are being circulated on social media to find and support such people who want to earn their livelihood and live with dignity.

The controversy around donations

On 26th October, Youtuber Lakshay Choudhary came forward and alleged that Gaurav Wasan of Swad Official, who initially made the video of the elderly couple, has not yet paid them the donation money he collected on their behalf. Choudhary also alleged that several influencers gave their own account details instead of providing Kanta Prasad’s account details that led to a massive ‘scam’. Madhur, who was regularly visiting ‘Baba Ka Dhaba’ has posted a series of tweets alleging Wasan used his wife’s account as well to collect money. He also claimed that he is getting threats after posting the update.

After his video, Wasan posted a video presenting a cheque worth Rs.2.33 lakh to Kanta Prasad.

However, some netizens in the comments alleged that he had said in a video interview to another Youtuber that he had received over 20 lakh rupees for the cause. Netizens have demanded that Wasan should share images of his bank statement for at least a week from 7th October to show how much money he has collected.

The story of Baba Ka Dhaba has also inspired people to locate and help small local businesses which are struggling during the pandemic.

Two Hindu families see the death of the child, one because she dared to refuse Islam, one, because he wanted to bid goodbye to Maa

0

Two incidents have made it to national headlines within the space of a few hours that highlight very real cultural problems in India today. The two incidents might appear extremely different on the face of it but both of them highlight a very significant problem within Indian society. By any measure, the Faridabad incident and the Munger shooting are indeed absolutely shocking.

We are living in a culture of denial of the obvious. We have made denial of reality the cornerstone of our worldview. Even though all of us are well aware of the truth, we will go to extraordinary lengths to pretend otherwise during public life. For instance, we are well aware that on the best of days, the Police are perceived as people to be avoided at all costs.

There are the much vaulted arguments about police reforms. One would expect the number 1 priority on that list would be reforming the culture that has come to dominate our police force but somehow, it is never on the agenda. There needs to be far more accountability for the police and far stricter punishment for dereliction of duty. Most of all, it is necessary for everyone to see that justice is being done.

There is no point in blaming the Police alone. Our systems work because there are great men and women working in the government, the bureaucracy, the Judiciary and the Police who manage to compensate for the systemic flaws just enough so as to ensure that the edifice could be maintained. The system itself is rotten to the very core.

The Munger shooting is the most obvious in a series of incidents that reflect the utter moral depravity of the secular state. First of all, the Election Commission of India reserved the 28th of October for the first phase of the Bihar Assembly Elections. Either they were not aware of the specific traditions of Munger or they did not believe they were important enough. In either case, it reflects their remarkable incompetence.

Then, the Police suddenly discovered their bravado while dealing with Hindu devotees. There are different versions of what precisely happened but there are videos that suggest that the Police used brutal force against the devotees when they took out a procession for the Visarjan at around midnight on the intervening night between Monday and Tuesday.

The Police apparently thrashed the devotees which sparked a protest that ultimately led to the death of one and critical injuries for six others. Ideally, the entire team of police officials responsible for the madness should be suspended prior to an investigation and charges related to murder ought to be invoked if some of them are found guilty for the death of the Hindu devotee.

The brutal murder of the Hindu devotee, and that is what it precisely was, highlights a very salient aspect that has been hitherto ignored. Genuine Police reforms ought to be the concern of every concerned Hindu and reforming the culture of the Police is an extremely Hindu issue. Because ultimately, it is the Hindu masses who suffer the most due to police brutality.

The Police is too afraid to act against even genuine criminals from minority Abrahamic communities because they are actually scared for their lives. It is the law-abiding Hindus which bear the brunt of their brutality as it is against the weak that the bullies discover their strength all of a sudden. And make no mistake, the ordinary masses of all communities are weak.

Some compensate for it by building tight-knit communities where ‘One for All, All for One’ is the motto. Those communities that fail to do so have to suffer the consequences for their lack of organisation. We cannot afford to live in a culture of denial of the obvious anymore about the actual extent of malfeasance within the Police. And until the Police is reformed, the Hindu masses will continue to suffer and pious devotees will continue to be slaughtered.

Imagine the monstrosity of the whole situation. Hindu devotees embark on the annual Visarjan procession and in the way, they are brutalised by the Police and one of them even loses their lives. And yet, after a few days, the same governments which cannot adequately punish and reform the rot that has set in within government institutions will attempt to reform Hindu society itself. It is quite disgraceful.

The culture of denial is again prominent in the murder of Nikita Tomar in Faridabad. The 21-year old was shot dead in broad daylight by two men outside the Aggarwal college in Ballabgarh. The two accused fled the scene after committing the murder. One of the accused, Taufeeq, appears to have been an obsessive stalker of the girl who murdered her when she refused his advances.

There is no point in denying here that significant sections of the Muslim community harbour opinions that are radically at odds with the mandate of civil society. Reports have emerged which suggest that the victim was being coerced into converting to Islam and marry the accused which she was resisting. And hence, she was murdered.

Instead of speaking out against this menace, our cultural institutions are busy promoting nonsense such as the Tanishq ad which actually leads to the death of Hindu women. In this particular instance, it was a case of Islamist murder but there have been too many occasions in the past when Muslim boys have lured Hindu women by forging false identities and subsequently murdered them when their actual identity was discovered.

The two incidents highlight the fact that we cannot afford to live in a culture of denial anymore. It leads to the actual death of ordinary Hindu citizens who want nothing more than to live in peace. The elites might delude themselves by intricate fantasies but the masses do not have the luxury of entertaining such delusions.

Until we rid ourselves of the culture, ordinary Hindu citizens will continue to be murdered with impunity and without any consequences when all they want to do is participate in the Visarjan of their beloved deity. Until we rid ourselves of the culture, we will continue to have murders like that of Nikita Tomar who had to forfeit her life because she did not wish to marry a psychopath.

Both these incidents are heart-breaking, to put it mildly. But there are lessons from them that Hindus must learn. Until the appropriate lessons are learnt, such incidents will continue to occur with an obscene frequency. The unfortunate deaths of both Nikita Tomar and the Hindu devotee in Munger should only strengthen our resolve to ensure the reformation that we seek in our institutions and public life.

Come clean or face legal action: Republic TV calls out fake news peddled by ET ‘prima facie planted by Mumbai Police’

Republic TV has issued a 24-hour notice to Mid-Day and Economic Times and the Bennett, Coleman and Company Limited to issue an apology and corrigendum (in print, on digital platforms, and across its official social media handles) over a report where it alleged that Hansa Research Group Pvt Ltd (‘Hansa Research’) had paid money to the Republic Media Network.

Alleging that the fake news published in these publications are ‘prima facie planted by the Mumbai Police’, Republic TV said they have also given the Mumbai Police time till 9 PM to either deny or confirm the story. Republic TV in a statement released earlier today said that they have given Mumbai Police an official letter to this effect given the irrational and fake leaks.

The news in the Economic Times and other portals

As per the report published on several news portals including Economic Times, a senior police officer of the Mumbai Police has claimed that Hansa has made a payment of 32 Lakh to Republic TV. The report claimed that while Hansa’s director said he was not aware of the payment completed, Republic TV CFO S Sundaram has accepted that the company had received the payment of 32 lakh from Hansa. However, Sundaram said he could not recall the details, and he would get back on the same, the report said.

The report further added that as advertisers and investors rely heavily on TRPs to decide which channel to choose for advertising, such ‘scams’ result in ‘national loss of thousands of crores of rupees to the advertisers.’

Republic TV demands an explanation and apology

In a press statement, Republic TV said that media publications, including Mid-Day, Economic Times, and others, are running a fake story making unsubstantiated accusations about the payment of Rs. 32 Lakh. The statement further added that publications have falsely cited the CFO of the Republic Media Network to make “scurrilous, unverified and malafide assertions.”

Republic TV said, “It is categorically clarified that Hansa Research has never done any business with Republic. The articles that have pedaled the fake story are completely wrong, bereft of facts, prima facie planted by the Mumbai Police and certainly published without basic verification by the respective media houses concerned. In the seeming hunger to plant and run fake news, all sense of balance seems to have been lost by a section of the media.”

The payment was for an on-air advertisement

Republic TV mentioned in the statement that the payment was made by Hansa Vision to Republic in lieu of the on-air advertising done for the period of October 2017 to October 2018. “To put the record straight: all channels receive advertising from media buying companies and that is not a crime. These facts are completely legitimate and in the open, backed by way of documentation for every transaction relating to it,” it further added.

The advertising contracts and payments are the norms in the news industry. There is nothing illegal in that. “To use this advertising payment to another entity, to twist and craft a lie about companies paying Republic to increase Republic’s ratings, is not just absurd but also malafide.”

Republic TV has said that if the media publications and Mumbai Police do not reply in the designated time frame, it will take appropriate legal action. They have issued an official letter to the Mumbai Police to deny or confirm the story. It also added, “The Honourable Supreme Court has cautioned against irresponsible public statements, but it is evident that the Mumbai Police isn’t complying with their observations.”

Republic TV said that the Mumbai Police have failed to understand the difference between the media agency Hansa Vision and the company Hansa Research while cooking up the story for their vendetta campaign against Republic. It said the department “have resorted to plant fake stories bereft of fact, logic and substance”.

Rebutting to the fake narrative against them, Republic said, “We are appalled that the “legacy” news organisations carrying this fake news story didn’t care to run even a basic fact check before the story was published. In that, the very fundamentals of journalism have been overlooked in what seems like the thrill to publicise a fake narrative against the Republic Media Network.” It further added that unlike certain sections of the media, Republic Media Network is proudly transparent, our ownership is public, our transactions are clean, and our bank balances are in the open.

Delhi anti-Hindu riots: Bail plea of Jamia student Asif Iqbal Tanha dismissed, Court calls charges against him prima facie true

On Monday, a Delhi court dismissed the bail plea of Asif Iqbal Tanha in connection with the Anti-Hindu Delhi riots, which took place in February this year. Asif, a Jamia Millia Islamia student and member of the Student Islamist Organization (SIO) since 2014, was arrested under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in May for purportedly being a part of a larger conspiracy behind the February riots in northeast Delhi.

During the hearing, Asif’s lawyer Siddharth Aggarwal told the Court that his client had not committed any offence, which was punishable under the UAPA, and sought bail for the accused. He further alleged that the testimonies of three witnesses were false. While dismissing the bail petition, Additional District and Sessions Judge Amitabh Rawat ruled on Monday that there existed ‘reasonable grounds’, based on prima-facie evidence, that the charges against him are true. The Court emphasised that the statements have to been taken at face value until proven in the trial.

Delhi Court earlier rejected the bail plea of Asif Iqbal Tanha in September

Earlier on September 3, the riot-accused Asif Iqbal Tanha was denied bail by the same Delhi court. While hearing Asif’s case, Additional Sessions Judge Amitabh Rawat noted that the witness testimonies reflected his role in engineering the conspiracy and orchestrating a ‘chakka-jam’ that culminated into the riots. As per reports, protected witnesses have stated that Asif was one of the primary coordinators of the conspiracy. Judge Amitabh Rawat stated that while freedom of speech and expression is guaranteed under the Indian Constitution, it is subjected to ‘reasonable restrictions.’

The Conspirator behind Jamia riots

As per the report, Asif Iqbal admitted to orchestrating riots and a march of 2500-3000 people from the Gate no.7 of Jamia Millia Islamia on December 12. He revealed that Sharjeel Imam gave a provocative speech to encourage ‘protestors’ to execute a ‘chakka jam’ on December 13.

Asif confessed to organising a ‘Gandhi peace march’ on December 15 from the Jamia metro station to the Parliament via Zakir Nagar and Batla House. He stated that the purpose of naming it after Mahatma Gandhi was to lure more people into joining the march. Reportedly, the Delhi police had set up barricades near the Surya Hotel to prevent the ‘protestors’ from surging forward. Asif Iqbal confessed to provoking people to break through the police barricades under the impression that the cops lacked the ‘guts’ to stop them.

Hathras case: SC says Allahabad High Court to monitor the CBI probe

0

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court ruled that the Allahabad High Court will look after all aspects of the Hathras case, where a 19-year-old girl was allegedly killed by strangulation. The order was reserved on October 15.

While refusing to comment on the merits of the case, a 3-Bench Judge of the Supreme Court comprising of Chief Justice of India SA Bobde, Justices V Ramasubramanian and AS Bopanna had stated that the High Court must take up the matter first. The CJI highlighted on how the scope of the case can be enlarged by the Allahabad High Court. The apex court passed the order after several petitions were filed seeking for an independent probe, transfer of the case outside of Uttar Pradesh to Delhi and assurance of witness protection in the case.

Other intervenors had sought for the deployment of CRPF personnel for ensuring the security of the family, in light of the allegations against the Uttar Pradesh police. The Director-General of Police (Uttar Pradesh) did not oppose the request but it was stated that entertaining such requests would send a message against the police force. The Court was informed that the victim’s family had engaged two lawyers and have requested for the appointment of a government lawyer, following allegations of solicitation against some lawyers.

UP government files affidavit in Supreme Court

The Supreme Court had earlier asked the Uttar Pradesh government to file an affidavit, highlighting the steps taken for witness protection. The State government had provided details of all security measures, such as the installation of CCTV cameras, taken to protect the family of the victim. The government has however maintained that it was not taking the particular case as adversarial litigation.

During the submission, Advocate Indira Jaising claimed that they do not expect a fair trial in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The investigation has already been botched up in the state, and the police have failed to write down a number to the FIR registered in the case. Thus, the case should be monitored by a constitutional court. Jaising asked the court to transfer the case from Allahabad to Delhi and mentioned that Adv Khushwaha has already submitted a request in the context.

New land law allows citizens from across the country to buy land in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh: Report

0

In a big push for greater integration with India following the annulment of Article 370 in August 2019, the central government has notified a new land law for Jammu and Kashmir. Under the new law, residents from across the country will be able to buy immovable property in Jammu and Kashmir, says a report published by Times Now.

The order called as Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Adaptation of Central Laws) Third Order, 2020, was released by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The notification would come into force with immediate effect. It also stated that the General Clauses Act, 1897 would apply for the interpretation of this Order as it applies for interpretation of laws in force in the territory of India.

Article 35A allowed JK legislature to define permanent residents and grant them special privileges

Earlier, the existence of Article 35A prohibited the purchase of land for citizens from other parts of the country except Jammu and Kashmir. The article allowed Jammu and Kashmir legislature to define permanent residents of the state and only those who were eligible could purchase land or property.

While the residents of Jammu and Kashmir were free to buy immovable property in the state as well as the rest of the country, the Article 35A did not allow the citizens not residing in Jammu and Kashmir to buy land in the state.

This glaring inconsistency was believed to be one of the reasons for the annulment of Article 370 and Article 35A. The central government at the time of abrogation and subsequent transformation of the state into two Union territories reasoned that the abolition of the articles would pave the way for the development of Kashmir and boost greater assimilation of the state with the Union of India.

Deoband Ulema condemns UP Police SI for returning to job after shaving beard, calls it a ‘crime’ under Shariat

0

Uttar Pradesh police sub-inspector (SI) Intesar Ali who was suspended after he grew a beard without seeking permission from the department was reinstated after he shaved his beard. However, his act of shaving the beard and resuming the duties did not go down well with the Deoband Ulema as reported by Amar Ujala.

Condemning Ali for shaving beard Maulana Lutf-Ur-Rehman of Jamia Anglo Arabic Madarsa said not keeping a beard is crime according to Shariat and that shaving the beard after keeping it first is an even bigger crime. Maulana said that if it came to saving Shariat or Sunnat, Ali should have left the job instead of shaving the beard. He added that Ali had committed a major crime as per Shariat and now he should observe penance.

Ali had kept beard without permission

Intesar Ali who is a  Sub Inspector in Uttar Pradesh Police, grew a beard without seeking permission from the department. Ali was warned many times to either shave the beard or seek the requisite permission. He was consequently suspended for violating the rules of the department. Police personnel in Uttar Pradesh police require permission to keep a beard except for Sikhs. Any cop who wants to keep a beard can do so after taking permission.

Darul Uloom Deoband clerics have also opposed the decision of Baghpat SP. Terming the action by SP Abhishek Singh as ‘wrong’, the clerics had demanded action against him.

Single parent male Govt employee entitled to child care leave: Union minister Jitendra Singh

0

Male government employees raising a child alone are now entitled to child care leave (CCL), Union Minister Jitendra Singh said Monday. This will be treated as an “earned leave”, said the Minister of State (Personnel).

An employee on the said leave may now leave the headquarters with the prior approval of the competent authority, the minister said.

According to the Union Minister, the leave could be granted at 100 per cent of leave salary for the first 365 days and 80 per cent of leave salary for the next 365 days. In addition, the ministry announced that the Leave Travel Concession (LTC) might be availed by the employee even if he was on child care leave, he added.

Another welfare measure introduced in this regard is that in case of a disabled child, the condition that child care leave can be availed by the parents only till the child is 22 years of age has been removed. This meant that now, child care leave could be availed by a government servant for a disabled child of any age, said the minister.

‘Single male parent’ includes unmarried employees, widowers and divorcees, who may be expected to take up the responsibility of caring for a child single-handedly, said Singh, furthering that the orders regarding this decision were issued some time ago but somehow did not get enough traction in the public domain.

Congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Minister of State (Personnel)- Jitendra Singh, Union Minister Smriti Irani called this a landmark step by DoPT towards reinforcing the government’s commitment towards gender equality.

Meanwhile, attributing these out-of-the-box decisions in the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) to PM Narendra Modi, Singh said that the aim behind these measures was to bring ease-of-living for government servants, enabling them to contribute to the maximum of their potential. Although, at the same time there would be no leniency or tolerance towards corruption or non-performance, he added.

CBI responds to OpIndia story on tape showing potential witness tampering by Mumbai Police in TRP scam case: Here are the details

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has now responded to a story broken by OpIndia where a taped audio conversation between a person with the barometer installed in his house told his neighbour that he was being forced by the Mumbai Police to implicate Arnab Goswami led Republic TV in the TRP scam being investigated by the Mumbai Police and its Commissioner, Parambir Singh.

On the 23rd of October 2020, OpIndia had first emailed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) about an audiotape that had come in the possession of OpIndia where two people were heard talking. The individual with the barometer installed in his home, talking to his neighbour, had alleged that he was being forced to implicate Republic TV in the ongoing TRP scam investigation. OpIndia had informed CBI of this tape, and while saying that as independent journalists, it is our duty to release this information to the public, we are willing to hand over the pen-drive in which this audio was received by OpIndia.

The CBI has now responded to the evidence. The officer of the CBI investigating the TRP scam in a separate FIR filed in Uttar Pradesh has emailed OpIndia referring to the email sent on 23rd. The officer has said that he is investigating a case related to the TRP scam and has requested OpIndia to hand over the evidence for ‘further action’.

Sources have also told OpIndia that the CBI will be examining the evidence and that the investigation is currently in its preliminary stage.

OpIndia has duly informed the CBI that it will be handing over the pen-drive to the authorities.

The witness tampering audio in the TRP scam case

On the 23rd of October, OpIndia broke the story about a conversation where a witness, in whose home a bar-o-meter is installed, is admitting to his neighbour that he is being coerced to name Republic TV and India Today in his statement.

This recorded conversation was sent through credible sources to OpIndia. The recorded conversation, which is between Person A (Person in whose home a bar-o-meter is installed) and his neighbour, makes it evident that Person A was scared for his security and his family’s safety after being allegedly coerced by the Mumbai Police.

In the tape, Person A was heard saying that 10-12 policemen had barged into his house at 3-3:30 AM in the morning and had started asking questions. Further, when Person A named another channel that had paid them to watch them, the police officers, according to Person A, told him that the case does not pertain to this channel but it is about Republic TV. He also alleges that even though the family kept telling the police officers that they do not watch Republic TV, the police added the name of Republic TV in the papers. Presumably, the papers Person A was talking about was the witness statement papers that the police maintain.

Person A in the conversation sounded incredibility scared about the police implicating him in other cases. The neighbour and Person A also talk about how this is happening because the Maharashtra government wants to implicate Arnab Goswami and Republic TV in the TRP scam.

The TRP scam and the tryst between Mumbai Police and Arnab Goswami, Republic TV

The TRP scam case has seen several twists and turns. While the Hansa Research report and the FIR filed on the basis of it named India Today, in less than 24 hours, Mumbai Police had seemingly made up its mind that Republic TV was the culprit instead and sent a notice to BARC to acquire their viewership data. In 48 hours, Parambir Singh had held a press conference naming Republic TV in the TRP scam and not even mentioning India Today.

Later, the Hansa Research FIR, their report based on which the FIR was filed and a witness statement naming India Today surfaced, putting the Mumbai Police and India Today in a tight spot.

After it was revealed that India Today had earlier been implicated by BARC Disciplinary Council in the manipulation of viewership, the drama had reached its Zenith, or so it seemed.

Soon, the witnesses, after being guarded by Mumbai Police closely, told the magistrate that it was Republic TV that had paid them. With this audio emerging where a customer in whose home a bar-o-meter is installed, alleging that he is being pressured by the Mumbai Police to name Republic TV in the TRP scam, the investigation further becomes questionable.

In the entire suspicious chronology of the case where Republic TV was being implicated in the TRP scam, not a shred of evidence, except the inexplicably changed statement by the witness, has surfaced against the channel run by Arnab Goswami in the public domain. While their CEO, CFO, journalists and Arnab Goswami himself continue to be hounded by the Maharashtra coalition government and the state machinery, including the Mumbai Police, it remains to be seen how many more twists and turns this case throws up.

Nikita Tomar murder: Taufeeq was pressurising her to embrace Islam family alleges

On Monday, a 21-year-old student named Nikita Tomar was shot dead in full public view by two men outside the Aggarwal college in Ballabgarh, Faridabad. Her family has now alleged that he was forcing her to convert to Islam and marry him.

Family demands SIT probe

The relative stated that Taufeeq alias Sajeed started harassing Nikita three years ago. Few months back, too, a complaint was lodged against him for harassment and molestation. However, the family later dropped the case.

Lately, the accused again allegedly started hounding her and pressuring her to embrace Islam. The relative confirmed that the accused initially wanted to abduct her but killed her when she resisted to his demands. The family has now demanded that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) should be constituted to probe the case.

CCTV footage shows two assailants shooting at Nikita Tomar in broad daylight in Faridabad

Earlier in the day, a CCTV footage had shown how two assailants had shot the 21-year-old student in broad daylight outside the Aggarwal college in Ballabgarh, Faridabad. In the video, which went viral on social media, the assailant could be seen stepping out of his car and pulling out his revolver. Nikita is seen struggling to get free and manages to flee for a brief moment before the accused grabs her again. While Nikita struggles to free herself from the man, he then shoots her in the point-blank range. The other accused too got out of the car and pulled Taufeeq back into the car. The duo then fled the crime scene.

A resident of SGM Nagar, Nikita was a final year B.Com student. After the inicident, Nikita was rushed to the hospital, where she was declared brought dead.

Speaking about the incident, ACP (Ballabgarh) Jaiveer Rathi informed that the primary accused had been arrested. “One of the accused identified as Taufeeq hailing from Sohna was known to the victim and a complaint against him had been lodged by the victim’s kin a few months ago for harassment and molestation but a compromise had been reached.” According to him, the ‘rejection of friendship’ could be a motive behind the crime.

Note: The report earlier mentioned about one Sajid posing as Rahul and molesting a minor girl in Haryana and forcing her to convert to Islam. However, the incident is different from that of Nikita Tomar. Error is regretted.
