Prime Minister Modi today took to social media to share fascinating visuals of water flowing through the steps at the Sun Temple at Modhera, Gujarat.

The visuals were of rain water flowing on the steps which eventually flow into the reservoir. Built after 1026 CE during the reign of Bhima I of Chaulukya dynasty, the temple is dedicated to the Sun God. The reservoir, called the Ram Kund can be reached through the flight of stairs.

As can be seen in above video, on a rainy day, it provides spectacular visuals.

The original clip of the popular show Saath Nibhana Saathiya, one character Kokilaben, who plays the role of a mother in law, asks her two daughters in law, Rashi and Gopi that when she was taking a bath after juice was spilled on her saree, who was in the kitchen (Rasode mein kaun tha?)

A terrified Gopi says it was Rashi who was in the kitchen. Apparently, Rashi had removed the chana from the cooker which was on the stove and then put back an empty cooker, which eventually exploded.

At the CWC meet held on Monday, after seven hour marathon session which included sly tweets and retraction by Kapil Sibal and offer of quitting by Ghulam Nabi Azad, Congress leaders again chose that Sonia Gandhi will continue to be the party’s interim President. Patra said how just like Rashi, it is Rahul Gandhi who is keeping the chana (other leaders of the party) out and putting an empty cooker (Congress party) on the stove.

Kerala: Fire breaks out at section of Secretariat complex under scanner in the gold smuggling case, opposition smells conspiracy

A fire broke out at the Kerala Secretariat complex in Thiruvananthapuram around 4:45 PM on Tuesday. According to reports, the fire started at the Protocol section which is on the second floor of North Sandwich building in the Secretariat complex. This office is said to be under the NIA scanner in the high-profile gold smuggling case. Interestingly, it is being said that the fire broke out at a time when the National investigation Agency demanded some documents from the protocol officer in connection with the gold smuggling case.

The fire that broke out in the General Administration Department destroyed many files and documents. No casualties have been reported so far. According to P Honey, the Additional Secretary, Public Administration, the fire was caused by a short circuit in the computer.

P. Honey said, “Only a few files related to rest house bookings were partially burnt. All important files are in e-file format. There is a system to recover such files even if the computer burns down. There have been similar incidents before due to short circuit. Attempts to extinguish the blaze began as soon as it broke out. There is no emergency now.”

Opposition claims it to be a deliberate act by state govt to sabotage investigation into the Kerala gold smuggling case

Soon after the fire broke out, the opposition parties tore into the Pinarayi Vijayan-led government alleging foul play. They claimed that this was done deliberately to sabotage the murky gold smuggling case that has wreaked havoc on the incumbent Kerala State government. Alleging that this was done with the knowledge of the Chief Minister, the opposition parties have demanded a detailed investigation on the issue.

The office was closed the other day claiming that certain officers tested positive for COVID-19. It was set on fire by the government to stop the details of the case from appearing in front of the probe team, claimed BJP state president K Surendran.

However, the Chief Secretary told media that a fair probe will be conducted into the incident.

This is not the first time that the opposition has accused the state government of trying to sabotage the investigation into the Kerala gold smuggling case. Earlier, demanding a CBI inquiry in the case, the Kerala opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala had accused the state government of trying to destroy evidence in the case by changing CCTV cameras in the Secretariat.

NIA confirms prime accused Swapna Suresh had close links with CM Pinarayi Vijayan’s office

It is pertinent to note that a close nexus between Pinarayi Vijayan-led government and Kerala gold smuggling case accused has been unearthed during investigations. NIA had confirmed to the court that prime accused Swapna Suresh had close links with CM Pinarayi Vijayan’s office.

NIA had informed the court that Swapna Suresh had established links with chief minister’s office (CMO) through Pinarayi’s now suspended principal secretary, M Sivasankar, with whom she enjoyed close proximity. NIA court was also informed how M Sivasankar had gone out of the way to appoint Swapna in the Kerala government’s Space Park and he used to advise her on many issues. Last month the call details of Swapna Suresh had also revealed that the accused was in regular touch with Kerala’s Higher Education minister KT Jaleel.

Justice Mishra of the Supreme Court has expressed his displeasure towards legal media portals Bar & Bench and Livelaw for apparently reporting on only one side of the story and that too, in an incorrect fashion. Ironically, the matter was tweeted by Bar and Bench itself from its verified Twitter handle.

Justice Mishra made the comment while chastising ‘PIL Activist’ Prashant Bhushant for taking matters of the Court to the media and making improper tweets on social media. “This is not what is expected from a senior member like Prashant Bhushan. And it is not just him, this has become very common now,” he said.

He continued, “I belong to old class. I have reprimanded lawyers for going to press in pending cases. There is a difference between an officer of the court and a politician. If you are going to press for everything, you are over identifying without your causes.” He stated, “Everybody is criticising us, but have we taken any action? Now Prashant is convicted but has he been punished?”

Justice Gavai too asked whether it was appropriate for lawyers to publicise sub judice cases. Rajeev Dhavan, counsel of Prashant Bhushan, agreed that lawyers “have no business” commenting on matters that are sub judice.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday reserved its verdict on the punishment to senior advocate Prashant Bhushan in the contempt of court case regarding his contemptuous tweets against the Institution and the Chief Justices of India. After listening to the submissions made by Dr Dhawan and Attorney General, Justice Mishra said that it has been “painful” to read all the statements made by Bhushan and his justifications. He stated that this is not the way a Supreme Court lawyer, with 30 years of experience should have behaved.

Heeding to the complaints filed by a host of religious groups in Goa, Vasco police on Sunday arrested a 20-year-old Angio Fernandes, resident of Chicalim, for making derogatory remarks on religions.

According to Vasco PI Nilesh Rane, complaints had been filed against Fernandes for posting offensive photos of Hindu deities on social media websites, hurting the religious sentiments of people. Fernandes has also made disparaging remark against Islam that had offended Muslim on social media. 

The police inspector added that Angio has been arrested and an investigation is launched to determine if more people were involved in the incident. 

Angio Fernandes posted objectionable posts on Hindu Gods and Islam

The derogatory posts on Hindu Gods and Islam had gone viral on Instagram, following which many Hindu and Muslim organisations had demanded the arrest of the youth in Goa.

A case was booked against Fernandes after a complaint was filed against him by Parshuram Sena on August 21, accusing him of posting derogatory and defamatory posts on his personal social media page. The members of Parshuram Sena had filed a complaint at the Vasco police station, demanding his arrest. 

A case has been booked against Fernandes under Sections 153 (A), 295 (A), 298, 504, 505 of Indian Penal Code (IPC).

14 UP police stations respond to Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to bust her motivated lies: Here is what happened

A recent attempt of senior Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi to mount an attack against the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh spectacularly boomeranged when scores of Twitter accounts of Uttar Pradesh police stations called out the lies peddled by her.

Ms Gandhi had earlier posted a tweet listing down a raft of alleged criminal incidents that had taken place across Uttar Pradesh in the span of the past two days. Taking a dig at UP CM Yogi Adityanath, Priyanka Gandhi said that while UP CM talks about the speed of UP government, the crime meter in the state is running at double its speed. She also alleged that the UP government has been trying to cover up the criminal activities taking place across the state.

While the tweet was meant to show the UP government in a bad light, it failed miserably when several UP Police Twitter accounts responded to Priyanka Gandhi’s tweet, exposing her for the lies purveyed in her tweet. About 14 police stations took cognisance of the incidents of crime mentioned by Priyanka Gandhi in the infographic shared by her and correspondingly responded with the latest development on the incidents that fell under their respective jurisdiction.

The Uttar Pradesh Police also took notice of the attempt made by the Congress General Secretary to malign the law and order situation in the state. In response to Ms Gandhi’s tweet, the official Twitter account of Uttar Pradesh tweeted that it is equally important to know the cause and action initiated in the criminal cases mentioned by her. The Police also noted that UP is the largest state in the country from the population point of view and about 24 crore of the 135 crore Indians reside in Uttar Pradesh.

Varanasi Police

The official Twitter handle of Varanasi replied to Ms Gandhi’s tweet, saying that a complaint has been registered in the relevant case at the Mirzapur Police Station, Chunar. It also mentioned that advance legal proceedings will be done by Mirzapur District Chunar Police Station.

Mirzapur Police

With regard to the criminal incident that happened in Mirzapur and was mentioned in Priyanka Gandhi’s tweet, Mirzapur Police replied that a complaint has been filed at Chunar station under Section 363 UI and the victim has been recovered by the police and sent for medical examination. Further action in the case is being deliberated, police said.

Kaushambi Police

Kaushambi Police said that the case pertained to an internal family dispute in which prompt action had been taken. It added that a case has been booked at Manjhanpur police station and 4 accused have been arrested and sent to jail.

Fatehpur Police

Taking notice of an incident from Fatehpur, the city police issued a rejoinder to Priyanka, saying that a complaint has been registered at Hussainganj police station in Fatehpur district and the suspected accused is being questioned in custody.

Muzaffarnagar Police

Muzaffarnagar Police also said that a case has been lodged against the accused and efforts are underway to arrest them.

Prayagraj Police

The Prayagraj Police responded to Priyanka Gandhi with an image that carried a brief summary of the criminal incident that was mentioned in Ms Gandhi’s tweet. The police assured that necessary action is being taken in the matter.

Bijnor Police

Bijnor Police said that the accused in the respective case has been arrested and sent to jail.

Barabanki Police

Barabanki Police also responded to Priyanka Gandhi, apprising her of the development in the case. The police mentioned that a case has been booked and the murdered victim’s real brother has been arrested.

Baghpat Police

Providing the latest development of the case, Baghpat Police tweeted stating the incident mentioned in Priyanka Gandhi’s tweet was from Baleni police station area of Baghpat district. It further added that both the victim and the accused are neighbours and are familiar with each other. The accused has been arrested and sent to jail on the basis of the complaint by the victim and expected statutory action is being taken.

Ballia Police

The official Twitter account of Ballia Police responded to Priyanka Gandhi’s tweet with an image containing the details of the case from the Ballia district. It mentioned that 6 of the 10 accused in the case have already been arrested and the search for the remaining 4 is underway.

Unnao Police

Responding on Priyanka Gandhi’s crime meter image, Unnao Police mentioned that the incident pertaining to Unnao from August 23 was actually a case of suicide. The other case from August 24 was of a young boy who was found dead inside an under-construction house. The police informed that investigation is under progress.

Bareilly Police

In the case related to Bareilly, Bareilly Police posted a tweet claiming that a case has been lodged in connection with the murder of a 7-year-old and the murdering father and step-mother have been arrested.

Ghaziabad Police

The Ghaziabad Police also shot a reply on Priyanka Gandhi’s tweet, filling her on about the details of the case that was mentioned in the crime meter shared by her. The police added that the murder was of a man who was convicted and sentenced to jail in 2019. The victim’s family had filed a case against the brother-in-law and others and necessary action is being taken in the case.

Jaunpur Police

Jaunpur police shared two-days-old press conference by a police official in the relevant case. In the incident, one person from a side and 2 from another other side had died over a land dispute in Ferozepur. 16 people were taken under custody, the police official informed.

Thus, to say that things are not going well for the Congress party would be an understatement. It is not everyday that the lies of a senior leader of the party is busted by 14 different police stations on a single day.

Shalabh Mani Tripathi, the media advisor to Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath took to the microblogging site to confirm that the Prayagraj police have arrested the Muslim YouTuber Heer Khan, who had posted hateful anti-Hindu videos on her Youtube channel. She was hiding at her relative’s place, revealed Tripathi.

Police registers complaint against Heer Khan after uproar on social media

Earlier in the day, the Prayagraj police had registered a complaint in Khuldabad Police Station, after several social media users tagged Uttar Pradesh Police and urged them to take immediate action against her. Some Hindu leaders have also initiated complaints against the said Youtube user. Hashtag #ArrestHeerKhan had started trending on Twitter.

Heer Khan goes missing

It is believed that the said YouTuber had gone missing as soon as the FIR was registered in her name. The Prayagraj police raided several places in search of Heer Khan, who was finally found hiding in her relative’s house.

YouTuber uploaded extrmely offensive videos against Hindu gods

In a video uploaded on August 23, the YouTuber had used extremely foul, derogatory words against Hindu gods and goddesses. In the subsequent video posted the next day, she was seen threatening Hindus with rape and violence. Her vile videos soon went viral on social media sites after which many called for actions against her.

During the initial interrogation, Abu Yusuf, the ISIS terrorist nabbed by Delhi police on August 22, had said that he was planning a major terror attack as a retaliation to the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The mother of the terrorist has, however, negated this claim, saying that his terrorist activities had nothing to do with the Ram Mandir Bhoomi Pujan.

As per a report by News18, she claimed that the Bhoomi Poojan of Ram temple had just happened a few days ago, while Abu Yusuf alias Mustaqeem had been preparing to make explosives for the last three years at his home in Balrampur, Uttar Pradesh.

Kahkaksha, the mother of Abu Yusuf revealed that her son often told her that even if a mosque comes up on the temple site in Ayodhya, no one would go there to offer prayers. He was not bothered in the Ayodhya verdict nor was he concerned whether a temple or a mosque was being built on the Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya, said the mother.

The ISIS terrorist was inspired by bomb-making videos, spent hours watching them on Youtube

Speaking to the Delhi police special cell, Kahkaksha said that Yusuf used to watch bomb-making videos on Youtube for hours and was inspired by these videos, Yusuf was collecting materials to make the explosives for the last three years.

Had converted to a hardline terrorist after he returned from Saudi in 2010

The terrorist’s mother said that for very long she was unaware of her son’s dangerous motives. It was only revealed when Yusuf returned from Saudi Arabia in 2010. He was completely radicalised and had converted into a hardline terrorist when he returned. Because of his fanaticism, the villagers started distancing themselves from Abu Yusuf and his family, divulged Kahkaksha.

It is pertinent to note here that Abu Yusuf had spent five years from 2006 to 2010 in Saudi Arabia. Security agencies believe that this was the time when he came in contact with the radicals and started operating as a sleeper cell for ISIS. Yusuf had also revealed that he had planned to move to Khorasan in Afghanistan along with his family but his handler Huzaifa died in 2019 that forced him to stay in India.

Abu Yusuf’s family botcotted by villagers

Meanwhile, an elderly neighbour named Tahira said that the entire village had boycotted Abu Yusuf’s family. They were not invited for marriages or any other ceremonies which took place in the village. Asafiya Khanam, another woman living in the neighbourhood, said that it was because of Yusuf that all the other families of the village had kept a distance from their family.

The ISIS terrorist took advantage of the lockdown to test his explosives

Asafia Khanam furthered that during the lockdown in the month of April, they had once heard an ear-piercing noise and seen smoke billowing from a cemetery located in the eastern fringe of the village. Abu Yusuf had taken advantage of the lockdown to test the explosives he made. Asafia said: “we all witnessed it, but at that time, no one, could imagine that Abu Yusuf was harbouring such devious plans”, said the neighbour.

On 22nd August, Delhi Police arrested an ISIS operative from New Delhi after an encounter. The Police got the information about him from Intelligence Agencies after which he was nabbed. Reports suggested that Abu Yusuf was highly influenced by the Islamic Preacher Zakir Naik who fled from India and took shelter in Malaysia.

The security agencies took Yusuf to his native place in Balrampur Uttar Pradesh to search his house. The police found bomb jackets, explosives and inflammatory material at his residence.

ED files prosecution complaint against 12 Hizbul terrorists under PMLA, says trust in Kashmir got hawala money from Pakistan for bomb blasts

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a prosecution complaint against 12 accused Hizb-ul-Mujahideen terrorists under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 (PMLA). The complaint has been filed before Special Judge, Patiala House Court, New Delhi.

The complaint is based on the charge sheet filed by NIA against FIR registered in October 2011 under Sections 120-B read with 121-A Indian Penal Code and Sections 17, 18, 39 & 40 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.

According to the press release of ED, Mohammad Shafi Shah and his associates were involved in bomb blasts in Jammu and Kashmir. At the time of arrest, a huge quantity of arms, ammunition and explosives were recovered from them.

Support from Pakistan

In the investigations under PMLA, the security agencies found that Hizb-ul-Mujahideen was funding terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir. Syed Salahuddin, the self-styled commander, based in Rawalpindi Pakistan, was providing support for the transfer of funds.

The press release further states that an organisation named JKART (Jammu & Kashmir Affectees Relief Trust) was involved in procuring funds from the terror outfits under the supervision of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and ISI. The funds were sent to India via Hawala Channel, barter traders and human carriers.

These funds were distributed among kin of active and dead Hizb-ul-Mujahideen terrorists using different channels including Hawala, Human Carriers and banking. Mohammad Shafi Shah was the mastermind behind the distribution of the funds.

The investigation agencies attached 13 properties belonging to seven terrorists totalling to Rs 1.22 crores under PMLA.

  • Abdul MajeedSofi alias MajeedBisati/Shaheen
  • Muzaffar Ahmad Dar alias Gaznavi/Mohd Ali
  • Mushtaq Ahmad Lone alias Mushtaq Aalam
  • Mubarak Shah

ED has requested the court in the prosecution complaint to award punishment to all of the accused and confiscate the attached properties.

Since the Supreme Court of India passed the judgment in favour of Ram Lalla Virajman and allowed construction of Ram Mandir ending the decades-long land dispute in Ayodhya, there have been many rumours floating around the money to be used in the construction of Ram Mandir.

Around Ram Mandir Bhoomi Pujan ceremony on 5th August 2020, some elements who are against the construction of Ram Mandir alleged that the government of India is spending taxpayers money on Bhoomi Pujan and Ram Mandir construction.

Is government spending money on Bhoomi Pujan or Ram Mandir?

OpIndia contacted Champat Rai, Spokesperson, Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerath Kshetra Trust in the matter. When we asked about who paid for the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony, he said that the trust will bear the expenses for the ceremony. However, they have not received the bills yet, but as soon as they get the bills from the suppliers, they will initiate the payment process.

On the question of opposition leaders like Owaisi raising questions on the construction of Ram Mandir or Bhoomi Pujan and comparing it to Iftar Parties organized by state governments, Champat Rai refused to comment and said he is not interested in political statements. He added that they could say whatever they want. It does not matter to him.

Money donated by Government of India for Ram Mandir construction

The Indian Government indeed donated money for the construction of Ram Mandir. The first donation of Re.1 (one rupee) made to the Ram Mandir Trust was made by the Union government after Trust’s formation. After the first donation, no money was donated by the union government for the construction.

Money donated by Yogi Adityanath for the construction of Ram Mandir

In March 2020, Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister Uttar Pradesh had donated Rs 11 lakh for the construction of Ram Mandir. However, the funds were donated from his own savings and not from UP government’s funds. A cheque that he presented to the Ram Mandir Trust was shared widely on social media.

The cost of the Prime Minister’s visit and security

The security of the Prime Minister is the responsibility of the union government. The Union government finances the Special Protection Group that specifically takes care of the protection of the Prime Minister of India. If the Prime Minister is visiting any event for any reason, the SPG works with the local security agencies to ensure PM’s security.

Did Government of India pay for Bhoomi Pujan or Ram Mandir construction?

Our team found out that other than the Rs 1 paid initially to the Trust at the time of its formation, the Union government has not spent a single penny on Bhoomi Pujan or Ram Mandir construction. The claims made by netizens are fake. Ram Mandir Trust is collecting money from Hindu devotees across the world via donations. You can learn how to make a contribution here. The Trust has also requested devotees to donate copper strips for the construction.

The government had made all donations to the Ram Janmabhoomi Trust exempt from Income Tax for the 2020-21 financial year under section 80G of the Income Tax Act.
