The Bombay High Court raised concerns over Maharashtra's plan to allow over 7,000 large Ganesh idols in natural water bodies. The court asked the state to consider immersing idols up to 8 feet in artificial tanks to reduce environmental harm.
Additional Commissioner of Police Dnyaneshwar Chavan said that the Ganpati immersion procession was passing peacefully when it came under attack near the Hindustani Mosque.
