In April 2023, Mamata Banerjee had claimed, “Koyekta choto choto ghotona ghote chilo election er por, samanno ghote thake sob jaigai (Some small-time incidents took place after elections. These happen all the time at other places).” 

While Mamata has refused to resign, her party thugs have resorted to killing BJP workers, destroying property and intimidating common people through violence.

In order to properly administer the legislation it has passed, Parliament may create more courts under Article 247. A Bengal Atrocities Tribunal with a defined jurisdiction could be established by a specific legislative act passed by a government with the mandate currently held nationally by the BJP.

Numerous horror stories of assaults, killings and rapes emerged from across the state after the results of the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections were announced.
