As per reports, while a large number of people were moving towards Sangam ghat, at around 1.30 am in the night, a sudden stampede like situation emerged and people started running over fallen persons.

OpIndia spoke to complainant Aman Rastogi, who shared that on 25th January, he and his friends, including an ailing member, were invited by accused Baburam to a prayer meeting promising healing water. The gathering turned out to be a Christian event where attendees were pressured to remove tilaks and Hindu idols from their homes, with claims that Yeshu would solve their problems. Aman, an RSS member, and his friends filed a police complaint against the accused.
Mursaleen and Hasnain revealed that a man named Azizur Rahman, a resident of Mohalla Jama Masjid in Bhojpur, coordinated the operations. He was responsible for securing orders and directing where the meat needed to be delivered. The accused further admitted to using their daytime wage-labour activities as a cover to avoid suspicion.
