“The perpetrators threatened that once their government (insinuating Samajwadi Party/I.N.D.I. Alliance) is in power, they will inflict violence upon the other side by slitting their throats and cutting their hair, which will be stored in the mosque,” the complainant informed and requested strict and urgent action in the case. Sections 191(2), 191(3), 352, 351(3) and 115(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) have been invoked against the offenders.
According to media reports, Jatin mentioned that in the past, hundreds of these Muslim youths had unleashed a deadly assault. Chanda Station Officer (SO) Ravindra Singh confirmed that the situation at the scene is presently calm. Faijan (14), Saqib (14), Kahnur (13), and Adnan (15), who reside in Hazratganj Mohalla ventured into town at 3 pm to purchase shoes and slippers. It was claimed that upon their arrival at the market in Shastri Nagar Mohalla, Vipin ran his motorcycle over Adnan’s foot. When the children protested, he along with his associates Sunny and Pradeep assaulted them. The former subsequently returned home and then went back with ten to twelve other youngsters from the village. A confrontation ensued between the two groups.
Witnesses indicated that the conflict was temporarily resolved through the intervention of local elders. However, around 5:30 pm, 18-20 members of the other side arrived near the mosque and began to assault women and children. This led to a renewed altercation between the two factions, during which sticks were used and bricks and stones were thrown, resulting in injuries to four individuals out of which two are in a critical state.
The two parties engaged in a dispute regarding the collision involving a bike and a large number of people from a particular community reached there in no time, per another report. These people started fighting with weapons and people from the other side also gathered. Meanwhile, the former ambushed them and attacked them with sharp weapons. The individuals injured included Jatin, Mohit Kasera, Shani Agrahari and Vicky Agrahari, all from Arya Nagar. Notably, Jatin and Mohit have incurred injuries to their heads.
