On Friday (31st January), the naked, mutilated body of a Dalit woman was recovered by the police from the Ayodhya district in Uttar Pradesh.
According to reports, the victim was brutally murdered. She had multiple wounds on her body and her eyes were gouged out. It is suspected that the 22-year-old woman was gang-raped before being killed.
The victim has been missing since Thursday (30th January) night. The police constituted 2 teams to trace the woman after receiving a complaint about the same on Friday.

On Saturday, the victim’s body was recovered from a farm. A team of police and forensic experts reached the spot and recovered the body. They later sent the body for post-mortem.
The police assured them that they would take further action based on the report. According to SSP Ayodhya, the murder had taken place at a different location and the body was dumped in the farm near a canal.
He informed me that efforts are being made to nab the accused at the earliest and ensure justice through fast-track courts.
