Actress shuts down an Islamist trying to use her consensual marriage to whitewash crimes of Love Jihad and Islamic indoctrination: What happened

On Friday, Hindi TV Actress Devoleena Bhattacharjee slammed a journalist named Wasiuddin Siddiqui for targeting her for marrying a Muslim man. He indicated that the actress married a Muslim man because he is rich and that she wouldn’t have decided to do so if he was some random poor Muslim.

Further indicating that love jihad cases are a sham and that no such concept exists, Siddiqui said, “If a Muslim is rich then he is a son-in-law, if a Muslim is poor then it becomes a love jihad case. A classic example is that of actress Devoleena Bhattacharjee. She who is the supporting actress of the film The Kerala Story, is married to Shahnawaz Shaikh”.

The actress silenced the journalist and corrected him at first saying that she was not part of the film but would have loved to be a part of it. “Stop talking nonsense. Lets not talk about money here. I am an independent woman, financially and also mentally. And I married the man of my choice without damn conversion. What do you even know about us?” she slammed.

She further said that the journalist was so hungry for attention that he didn’t even fact-check before posting the tweet. She also slammed one of the Twitter users who trolled her saying that she was now a Muslim and ready to be the mother of around 40 children.

“Tu kaun hota hai? Kaun hai tu? Twitter ka ek tuch sa troller mujhe batayega mujhe kya karna hai kya nahi. Apna ghar samjhal jakar. Nikal yahan se (Who are you to tell me what should I do? Some random Twitter troller will now give me suggestions? get lost from here),” she tweeted.

What Wasiuddin Siddiqui said is a classic Islamist trope to whitewash the extremely serious atrocities against Hindu women. Love Jihad as a phenomenon is limited to those “relationships” where the Muslim man hides his identity and pretends to be Hindu to exploit the woman, forces her to convert to Islam failing which commits violence etc. At no point were all consensual relationships between Hindus and Muslims ever branded “love jihad”.

Further, The Kerala Story is not even about Love Jihad or consensual relationships. It is about Islamic brainwashing that ISIS, a terror organisation commits, to exploit young Hindu and Christian girls to convert to Islam for further flesh trade and terrorism. To claim that a Hindu woman marrying a Muslim man or a Muslim woman marrying a Hindu man consensually and without the Hindu converting to Islam is “love jihad” or similar to stories shown in The Kerala Story is a classic tool deployed by Islamists to whitewash their crimes against Hindu women.

It is pertinent here to note that Devoleena has clarified that she never converted to Islam to marry her husband Shahnawaz Shaikh. She extended her support to The Kerala Story clearly because it is a movie about Islamic terrorism and the dangerous tools deployed by ISIS.

She also had said that she watched the movie with her husband and neither thought the movie was against Islam.

That it is being extended to her marriage only proves that Islamists are desperate to whitewash crimes by Muslim men against Hindu women and in the process, they are even willing to whitewash ISIS.

The actress tied the knot with her fitness trainer Shahnawaz Shaikh in December last year. Before being married, the two dated for three years. According to the star, he was ‘godsent’ for her.

A TV show named Saath Nibhaana Saathiya hosted on Star Plus channel, helped Devoleena Bhattacharjee become well-known on Indian television. Later, the actress appeared in programmes like Laal Ishq and Saath Nibhaana Saathiya’s second season. Additionally, the actress appeared in Bigg Boss 13, which aired in 2019. Devoleena was last saw at work during Bigg Boss 15.

Ameesha Patel says the film ‘Gadar’ sent message of ‘love’ as Tara Singh accepted Islam: Here is how she is not only wrong but also delusional

The film “The Kerala Story” has sparked a debate around Islamic conversions and indoctrination. Although, the film spreads awareness about the menace of love jihad and the subsequent deployment of converted victim women to ISIS, a section of people have been claiming that the film spreads hatred against Muslims. Amidst the ongoing debate, actress Ameesha Patel who will soon be seen in the film “Gadar 2: The Katha Continues”—the sequel of the iconic cult classic “Gadar” alongside actor Sunny Deol has said Gadar is a movie that spread only ‘love and no hatred’ and brought all religions and castes together.

Ameesha Patel went on to claim that the film’s female lead character—a Pakistani married an Indian Hindu man and still followed Islam and the Hindu protagonist accepted Islam.

“Gadar is a movie that never ever spread hatred, it only spread love and united all religions and castes. There is no bigger film than Gadar which shows that a Pakistani Muslim girl Sakina marries an Indian Hindu Tara Singh portrayed by Sunny Deol and still she did not forget Islam in fact Tara Singh accepts Islam. So think, films like Gadar bolster unity and teach us that we should live together,” Ameesha said.

This is essentially quite a delusional comment by actress Ameesha Patel and it only displays the staggering ignorance that the elite in India suffer from.

In the movie, Ashraf Ali, played by veteran actor Amreesh Puri, proposes two conditions to Tara Singh, who had arrived at his wife Sakina’s residence in Pakistan to take her back, in order for him to accept their union. The first is that Tara Singh will convert to Islam, and the second is that he will stay in Pakistan forever. He gives Tara Singh some time to make a decision.

“Tumhe humari do shartein manani hongi, pehli, ke tumhe Islam qubool karna hoga (you will have to fulfil two conditions, first that you will accept Islam). Aur doosri shart, tumhe yahin Pakistan mein rehna hoga. (Second condition that you will stay here in Pakistan),” Ashraf Ali tells Tara Singh.

The next day, the film shows that a large crowd has gathered to witness an Indian non-Muslim convert to Islam. A maulvi asks Tara Singh if he is ready to accept Islam “Kya tumhe Islam qubool hai”, the Maulvi questions. To this Tara Singh replies a man’s biggest “mazhab” is to protect his wife and children. An agitated maulvi repeats his question, to which Tara says “Kaaba and Kashi are one and the same”. The maulvi loses his cool and again asks “Kya tummy Islam qubool hai” To this, Tara Singh clearly says “Qubool hai”.

As the maulvi then invites Tara Singh to enter the mosque for the commencement of further ritual to make him a ‘Muslim’, Ashraf Ali intervenes and forces Tara to raise Islam zindabad and Pakistan zindabad slogans, which Tara raises. However, Ashraf Ali then asks Tara to raise the Hindustan Murdabad slogan, to which Tara reacts in an aggressive tone calling out Ashraf Ali’s name and saying, “Hindustan zindabad tha hai or rahega (Hindustan was, is and shall remain zindabad)”. Following this, the Pakistani crowd rushes to attack Tara, and then comes the iconic handpump uprooting scene.

First and foremost, this suggests that although Tara Singh did say “Qubool hai” to protect his family, he did not perform the mandatory rituals for converting to Islam such as reciting the kalma and giving shahada.

Secondly, it is interesting to note that actress Ameesha Patel said that the film gives the message of unity and love as a Muslim girl Sakina marries a Hindu man but still practices her religion while her non-Muslim husband accepts her religion. Inadvertently, Patel’s understanding of ‘love and unity’ is similar to that of Islamists who opine that Muslims should not marry a non-Muslim (kafir) until he/she becomes a believer (Muslim).

In this entire scene, which Ameesha chooses to call an example of “love and unity”, we see several elements that go against the idea that Ameesha seems to be espousing, perhaps because she does not remember how the movie goes or because she is delusional.

  1. It is the non-Muslim who had to convert to Islam for their “love” to be acceptable. Not the other way around. The non-Muslim imposed no such requirement for the Muslim woman to convert to Hinduism. If it indeed this was a message of love and harmony, then none of the two should have had to convert. That religious conversion is an essential part of Islam itself is antithetical to the notions of all religions being equal and this being an example of love and unity.
  2. While the non-Muslim wanted to further tropes like Kaaba and Kashi being the same, these notions were clearly not acceptable to the Muslims in the scene. Perhaps the delusions harboured by Tara Singh in reel are also harboured by Ameesha in real life.
  3. Islamic supremacy was clearly visible and depicted in the movie when all the Muslims gather to watch the conversion of non-Muslims. Ameesha perhaps must explain how this became an example of unity.
  4. The very basic tenet of Pakistan being a supremacist state on the basis of a religious supremacy ideology is also evident.

This comment by Ameesha Patel yet again proves that most Bollywood starlets are rather divorced from reality and perhaps, Patel must read up more and understand ground realities before making misplaced comments about brotherhood, secularism love and harmony.

Muzaffarnagar: One Zarif Ansari kills retired Dalit inspector Garibdas by hitting him 9 times in 17 seconds with a shovel, surrenders with the police

In a shocking incident, an assailant named Zarif Ansari used a shovel to kill a former Dalit Pradeshik Armed Constabulary (PAC) sub-inspector in the Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred on May 18 when retired constable Garibdas was conversing with a shopkeeper while sitting at a table in a store.

The instance transpired in Sikhera village which falls under the Sikhera police station area. Garibdas was sitting at a pesticide shop in the village on Thursday afternoon and was engaged in conversation with the shopkeeper when Zarif Ansari of the same village reached there and repeatedly pounced on him with a shovel in quick succession. Ansari hit Garibdas on his head and neck, causing grievous injuries.

The victim was brutally struck 9 times with the shovel in just 17 seconds until he was covered in his own blood and fell to the ground. The entire episode was captured by the CCTV camera outside the shop. Afterwards, the accused left the dying man and proceeded to the police station, along with the weapon, admitted to the crime and turned himself in.

When the police arrived at the location, they took the badly injured victim to a hospital with the help of the villagers where his serious condition led to a referral to Meerut. From Meerut, he was taken to Delhi, but there he succumbed to the injuries. Garibdas had serious injuries on his head and neck, so he could not be saved.

During police interrogation, the perpetrator confessed that his wife was having an illicit relationship with Garibdas propelling him to carry out the heinous act.

Anoop Chaudhary, the head of the village, stated that Zarif Ansari assaulted Garibdas with the purpose to murder him. He disclosed, “He (Zarif Ansari) used a shovel twice to first push the wounded to the ground before striking him in the neck. The latter is now a patient at Anand Hospital in Meerut. His situation is quite grave and his cranium (skull) has been fractured.”

He revealed, “Before this, no one had ever witnessed any dispute between the two. However, an individual has been taken into custody by authorities, while one is absconding. There may be two or three parties involved in this matter.”

According to Superintended of Police (SP) City Satyanarayan Prajapat, a villager made an attempt to assassinate the retired PSC inspector in the Sikhera neighbourhood. The official informed that the latter was taken to a hospital right away by the police and is currently undergoing treatment.

“A case has been registered on the complaint of the family members. The cops have taken the offender into custody. He is being questioned. He first offered no specific justification for his conduct but he will be thoroughly interrogated, and any information discovered will be discussed,” he added.

Russian psychiatrist Anton Andreev becomes Hindu after attaining Tantra Diksha in Varanasi: This Math in Kashi has initiated disciples from 80 countries

Anton Andreev, a Russian psychiatrist, has embraced Hinduism after receiving Tantra Diksha in the holy city of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. Andreev has completed Tantra initiation after several years of diligent study. On Thursday, May 18, 2023, a special ritual was held at the Vagyoga Chetna Peetham in Shivala, Kashi. Following the ritual, Anton was given the new name ‘Anantanand Nath’ along with a Guru Mantra. Moreover, Kashyap Gotra was assigned to him.

Andreev, a St. Petersburg-based psychiatrist, has always been intrigued by Hindu culture. He had read about Tantra Vidya’s mysterious powers. He also wished to learn Tantra Vidya by means of awakening Kundalini. Anton learned about Varanasi’s Vagish Shastri after conducting a thorough search. Anton arrived in India in January 2015 with the intention of studying Tantra Vidya under Vagish Shastri. Anton, however, could not meet the requisite parameters at the time and failed to awaken the Kundalini. He then returned to Russia.

It is worth noting that in Hinduism, kundalini is believed to be a dormant divine feminine energy that is coiled at the base of the spine at the Muladhara chakra. It is awakened by the Yogis.

Anton returned to India in 2016, however, he was unable to complete his classes. Guru Vagish Shastri, the founder of the Vagyoga Chetna Peetham, died last year. Anton met Pandit Ashapati Shastri on April 25, 2023, and told him about his spiritual aspirations. He learned how to awaken the Kundalini here. During 10 days of practice and 5 days of independent meditation, Andreev meditated on Maa Tara Shakti (a form of Maa Kali).

Pandit Ashapati then instructed him to meditate on his presiding deity. He felt the Goddess’s shadow in Tarapeeth after several hours of meditation. Pandit Ashapati did not reveal any other confidential information. According to Pandit Ashapati, the Russian psychiatrist received Guru Diksha after becoming spiritually qualified.

Pandit Ashapati explained that in order to achieve Tantra Vidya, the Kundalini must be awakened. It takes various people a distinct period of time to awaken Kundalini. Some people can awaken it in ten days, while others must practice for years. The awakening of the Kundalini does not imply that the individual has attained invincibility. It means the individual is now prepared for Tantra Sadhana.

According to Pandit Ashapati Shastri, a large number of individuals that receive initiation are from Russia and Ukraine. People from Muslim and Christian countries continue to take Gurudiksha. He stated that the Math has initiated 15,000 international disciples from 80 nations to date.

Manish Sisodia writes a tear-jerker from jail and Kejriwal shares it to win brownie points after former makes startling confession in Liquor Scam case

There appears to be no limit to the Aam Aadmi Party’s antics. Despite being called out the first time, former Delhi deputy chief minister and Education Minister Manish Sisodia has drafted another open letter from Tihar jail. In the letter, he has again taken a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s academic credentials.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal took to Twitter on Friday to share the open letter consisting of a poem penned by Sisodia. The poem, while emphasising the significance of educating poor children took a jibe at PM Modi in regard to his academic qualifications.

In March this year, even after the Gujarat High Court slammed the Aam Aadmi Party  (AAP) over the degree certificates of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sisodia had written a letter claiming that PM Modi does not understand the importance of education. This time, the imprisoned AAP leader has written a poem about the ‘shaking foundations’ of a ‘chauthi pass raja’s mahal’ (fourth pass king’s palace).

Letter written by arrested AAP leader Manish Sisodia

The poem was written in Hindi. The first verse of the poem can be roughly translated as, “If every poor person gets a book, who will trigger a storm of hatred? If everyone gets work, then who will brandish swords in the streets? If the child of every poor family gets education, the foundations of the 4th class King’s palace will shake,” Sisodia wrote.

Sisodia went on to add that providing quality education to children from low-income families will prevent people from falling into the trap of a ‘WhatsApp University’ and society from becoming entangled in a web of communal hatred.

If every child in society was educated, they would challenge their government’s “cunningness” and “bad policies” and pick up a pen to write their own “Mann ki Baat,” Sisodia added.

The AAP chief must be reminded here that while he is busy trying to score brownie points by sharing a ‘tear-jerking’ poem written by his close aide Manish Sisodia, who his party claims is being incarnated as part of BJP vendetta politics, Sisodia has himself made some startling admissions that affirm his role in the Delhi excise policy scam case.

Manish Sisodia allegedly confesses to destroying two mobile phones

Yesterday (May 18) reports emerged that the AAP leader has confessed to destroying two mobile phones which were sought by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the Delhi excise policy scam case. “This willful disposal of handsets containing incriminating evidence related to the policy is another incriminating circumstance against Sisodia,” the chargesheet against the AAP leader read.

On July 22, 2022, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) instructed the CBI to initiate an investigation into the excise scam. According to reports, Manish Sisodia began using a new mobile phone after this directive.

During the course of the probe, the CBI discovered that Manish Sisodia had utilized three different mobile phones between January 1, 2020, and August 19, 2022. Subsequently, on August 19, 2022, the investigating agency conducted a search operation and seized one phone from Sisodia’s possession. These developments are significant in unravelling the details of the case and shedding light on Sisodia’s Manish involvement in the Delhi liquor scam.

According to sources, Sisodia was served a notice under Section 91 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) concerning the two mobile phones. In response to the notice, he reportedly acknowledged the same fact. This information highlights Manish Sisodia’s acknowledgement of the notice and further strengthens the case against him.

Manish Sisodia, a leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), is presently in custody due to multiple allegations against him related to the Delhi Liquor Policy Scam. Despite his numerous attempts, the court has dismissed several of his bail pleas.

Shrirampur: Samir Pathan, Shoaib, Javed brutally assault a man during Urs celebration for merely being associated with a local Hindu group, booked

On Friday, a Hindu person identified as Mahesh Mukund Shahane was brutally beaten and assaulted by three persons from ‘specific community’ during some Islamic celebration in the city of Shrirampur, in Ahmednagar of Maharashtra. The accused persons have been identified as Samir Pathan, Shoaib Qureshi and Javed Shah who happened to assault the victim for merely being associated with a local Hindu organization. The three have been booked under sections 307, 34 and 341 of the Indian Penal Code.

The incident is said to have happened on May 16, but it came to the fore on May 18 after the Legal Rights Observatory (LRO) tweeted about it. LRO said in the tweet that Mahesh was brutally beaten during the Urs celebration in the city.

Mahesh had been issued death threats in the past for making Hindu reels on social media

According to the sources, Mahesh is associated with a local Hindu organization and is active in exposing anti-Islamic activities ongoing in the city. He also has exposed several Love Jihaad cases in the city. Moreover, he also is active on social media and is known for making pro-Hindu reels.

Sources told OpIndia that Mahesh was on long target of the accused men who had in the past issued death threats to Mahesh for making Hindu reels and disseminating them on social media. On May 16, the accused men were in large numbers as they were celebrating Urs and it is then that they found Mahesh alone. “They trapped him and tried to kill him. He would have lost his life had he not called his friend for help that day,” sources said.

As per the FIR copy obtained by OpIndia, the victim was taken to an open ground close to the railway lines and was brutally beaten by sticks and a sharp weapon. The victim has been admitted and is being treated at a general ward at Sakhar Kamgar Hospital, Shrirampur. The victim mentioned in the complaint that he was unnecessarily beaten by the accused and that he was hit in his head with the intention to kill.

FIR copy obtained by OpIndia

“It was my friend’s birthday that day. I was on my way home and was riding on a bike after the celebrtions at around 10 pm. On reaching the Sayyed Baba area, I saw some Muslim people were dancing and celebrting the Urs. It is then when Samir Pathan saw me and stopped me. He asked me to park my bike on the roadside and said that he wanted to talk to me. Then he took me away from the noise, near the railway lines where his associates Shoaib Qureshi and Javed Shah also arrived. The three then began to thrash me,” Mahesh said in the FIR.

He also mentioned that he was not told or asked anything and was beaten brutally without any reason. “They hit me on my head with intention to kill me. I got scared and called one of my friends for help. I was then rescued and taken to the hospital,” he said.

Complaint registered by Mahesh

Mahesh in hospital says he is still clueless about his fault

Mahesh talked to OpIndia and confirmed that he knows all the accused superficially so he stopped when Pathan interrupted him on his way to home. “They didn’t tell me any reason and just kept on beating me that night. I still don’t know what my fault is,” Mahesh said who is still admitted at the hospital. On asking about his health, he said that he has attained severe injury and has been advised by the doctors to stay at the hospital for 3 more days.

Meanwhile his friend who rescued him from the accused on the might of May 16 stated to OpIndia that Mahesh is not at fault. “We know them just by their names, superficially. We are still clueless why was Mahesh targeted,” he said. Further on asking about the police action, he said that the police has not yet arrested any of the accused mentioned in the FIR.

Accused booked under IPC sections, but arrest remains awaited

While Mahesh failed to mention the reason in the FIR for being targeted, it has been confirmed to OpIndia by sources that he was beaten by the accused persons for merely being associated to Hindu organization. He had also been issued death threats by the accused in the past.

Team OpIndia contacted Shrirampur Police Station and also API Vitthal Patil who is investigating the case under the instructions of PI Harshvardhan Gavli, but none of them provided the required information terming it as a ‘sensitive case’. While the accused persons have been booked under section 307, 34 and 341 of the IPC, their arrest yet remains awaited. Further probe is underway.

This report will be updated once we hear from investigating officer API Vitthal Patil of Shrirampur Police Station.

Is Elon Musk’s Tesla finally coming to India, this time, on India’s terms? Talks restarted with a new factory proposal: What we know so far

Tesla has indicated a desire to build an electric vehicle facility in India for both local and international sales and the plan was delivered to representatives of the Indian government on Wednesday. This development follows India’s unwillingness to reduce the high import duty on automobiles, which may be as high as 100%, last year. The business first tried to join the market through imports for testing reasons, which caused a stalemate in discussions. However, India had encouraged Tesla to build cars domestically.

Tesla stayed silent on lowering import tariffs throughout the recent discussions. Instead, it suggested building a new plant, albeit specifics like the location and expenditure have not yet been made public.

The action is in line with the “Make in India” strategy of the Indian government, which seeks to invite businesses by fostering domestic manufacturing and diversifying supply chains away from China.

Senior Tesla executives are present in India, negotiating with government officials to further investigate the potential for local manufacture. Meetings with representatives from the Prime Minister’s office and several ministries have been held as part of these discussions.

Notably, the business has recently expressed interest in India again, almost a year after the firm abandoned ambitions to sell vehicles there because it was unable to reduce import duties, which CEO Elon Musk has claimed as being among the highest in the world. The hunt for a showroom location was started, and a local team was hired, but last year’s efforts were shelved.

In advance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the US later this month, Tesla and Indian officials met. The conclusion of these talks might have a big impact on Tesla’s entry into the Indian market as well as the nation’s electric car sector as a whole.

Meanwhile, the government intends to introduce a modified production-linked incentive scheme for advanced chemical cell batteries and electric cars to entice new investments from businesses that weren’t previously involved.

According to official sources, the PLI 2.0 will not be modified or released just to include Tesla in the system, as it has previously been done for telecom equipment and Information Technology hardware.

The new IT hardware PLI initiative was authorised by the Cabinet on Wednesday in an effort to provide foreign corporations with another opportunity to invest in the country. Once everything is settled between the government and Tesla, a similar update will reportedly be made to the vehicle and battery PLI as well.

The current budget for advanced chemical cell batteries is Rs 18,100 crore, whereas Rs 25,938 crore is allocated for autos and their parts. In accordance with sources, the outlay may be raised, incentives may also be altered, and participating enterprises will have the choice to switch to the new PLI plan for the two.

The current budget for advanced chemical cell batteries is Rs 18,100 crore, whereas Rs 25,938 crore is allocated for autos and their parts. In accordance with the sources, the two updated PLI arrangements for the corporations may include higher outlays, altered incentives, and a migration option for participating enterprises.

“It will be fair to all the parties and PLI schemes offer such flexibility in restructuring the package,” an official informed.

Tesla is now thinking about manufacturing in India and is no longer lobbying for a reduction in the import charge on fully constructed vehicles, which is now at 100% for vehicles costing $40,000 and more. 60% of the tax is applied to vehicles that cost less. Tesla had asked for the duty to be reduced to 40%.

‘300 more Madarsas will be closed down’: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma reiterates vow to continue the crackdown on Madarsas in the state

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Thursday reiterated his government’s decision to shut down 300 more madarsas in the state. This came months after the Assam CM had stated that over 600 madarsas have been shut down in the state because his government believes in establishing universities, schools and colleges rather than funding religious institutions.

“There was a meeting between the BJP and the people who run these madarsas. There is a consensus that 300 more madrasas will be closed down. This is a result of the discussion between the Assam police and the Qaumi organisations,” said the Assam chief minister.

Earlier in March, CM Himanta announced the closure of 600 madarsas in the state. He also asserted that illegal immigrants from Bangladesh pose a threat to the civilization and culture of the northeastern state. “I have closed 600 madrasas and I intend to close all madrasas because we do not want madrasas. We want schools, colleges and universities,” Himanta Biswa said while addressing the BJP’s Vijay Sankalp Yatra in Karnataka’s Belagavi ahead of the Assembly elections in March.

“People from Bangladesh come to Assam and create a threat to our civilization and culture. I have closed 600 madarssas and I intend to close all madarssas because we do not want madarssas. We want schools, colleges and universities. The new India does not need madarsas.”

Besides vowing to continue the crackdown on madarsas in the state, the Himanta Biswa Sarma government has also promised to ban the practice of polygamy by Muslim men in the state.

Notably, last week, the Assam government, led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, constituted a four-member committee to examine the legal authority of the state legislature to implement a law prohibiting polygamy.

Taking to Twitter, the Assam CM announced the formation of the four-member committee and revealed the names of the committee members adding that the committee has been given a deadline of 60 days to present its report.

A team of journalists was working for me: DK Shivakumar inadvertently spilt beans on the Congress-media nexus

On Tuesday (May 16), Congress leader DK Shivakumar courted controversy after he claimed that a team of journalists was working for him to ensure the victory of the grand old party in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly elections.

He made the contentious remarks during an interview with journalist Nabila Jamil of India Today. At about 4 minutes and 16 seconds into the programme, DK Shivakumar was heard claiming that he single-handedly ensured the landslide victory of the Congress party in the Karnataka elections.

“There were three teams working for me, apart from my AICC team…A team of journalists, my own political supporters and for the other one, I have a system in place for the past 10 years,” the Congress leader inadvertently spilt the beans.

In his spontaneous flow of speech, DK Shivakumar revealed that he had several journalists on his payroll, who helped changed the public perception in favour of the Congress. And he did not seem to have been bothered by his own faux pas.

Despite ‘winning, he was not backed by his party for the post of Karnataka Chief Minister and had to settle for the position of Deputy CM. As per a report by The Economic Times, his Chief Ministerial bid was ignored by Congress for being perceived as a ‘devout Hindu’ in the public eye.

“Siddaramaiah, who comes from the left background, is seen as a strong ideological opponent of the RSS and the BJP. While Shivakumar has no affinity with any right-wing group, he is seen as a devout Hindu who often visits religious places and makes no effort to hide his religious inclination,” it emphasised.

The Economic Times claimed that such a decision by the Congress party was made in light of the religiously polarised environment of Karnataka. The newspaper emphasised that Congress threw its weight behind Siddaramiah in the hopes of keeping its ideological ‘non-Hindu’ inclinations intact and consolidating the Muslim vote bank.

Operation Dhvast: NIA raids at 324 locations in 8 states in terrorists-gangsters-drug smuggler nexus case, huge cache of arms and ammunition seized

On Wednesday, May 17 the National Investigation Agency (NIA) raided 324 locations in six states and two Union Territories, in collaboration with Punjab and Haryana police as a part of its multi-state crackdown on terrorist-gangster-drug-peddler nexus codenamed “Operation Dhvast”. During the raids, the authorities seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition in addition to multiple incriminating materials.

During the raids conducted on May 17 in eight districts—Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Chandigarh, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh, three accused persons were also arrested.

The NIA raided 129 locations, the Punjab Police searched 143 locations in 17 districts, and the Haryana Police raided 52 locations in ten districts commencing at 5.30 a.m.

These operations targeted weapon suppliers, financiers, logistic providers, and hawala operators affiliated with hardcore gangs collaborating with narcotics smugglers and terrorists based in other countries including Pakistan and Canada, according to the NIA press release.

The NIA further stated that one pistol, assorted ammunition (both live and used cartridges), 60 mobile phones, five DVRs, 20 SIM cards, one hard disk, one pen drive, one dongle, one WiFi router, a digital watch, two memory cards, 75 documents, and Rs.39,60,000 in cash were recovered by the raiding parties.

NIA arrests three persons linked with notorious gangsters

According to an official release from the NIA, Parveen Wadhwa was brought into custody from Bhiwani in Haryana, Irfan from New Seelampur in Delhi, and Jassa Singh from Moga in Punjab.

“In jail, Parveen Wadhwa was discovered liaising with certain notorious gangsters, including Lawrence Bishnoi.” Weapons were recovered from Irfan’s house in New Seelampur (Delhi), who is also linked to dreaded gangsters. Jassa Singh was working at the request of Arsh Dhalla, a ‘listed terrorist’ based in Canada,” the NIA said.

According to NIA investigations, Parveen alias Prince communicated frequently with Lawrence Bishnoi and his gang members Deepak alias Tinu and Sampat Nehra, as well as other associates. He was acting as their special messenger from inside the prisons.

NIA’s crackdown on Arsh Dalla’s terror network

The NIA said that the day-long searches under Operation Dhvast were aimed at disrupting the terror network of Arsh Dalla, a designated terrorist, as well as dreaded ganglords such as Lawrence Bishnoi, Chhenu Pehalwan, Deepak Teetar, Bhupi Rana, Vikash Lagarpuriya, Ashish Choudhary, Gurpreet Sekhon, Dilpreet Baba, Harsimrat Simma, Anuradha, and others.

The cases are linked to conspiracies involving targeted killings, terror funding of pro-Khalistan organizations, and extortion. Among these cases is last year’s sensational murder of Maharashtra builder Sanjay Biyani and international Kabaddi player Sandeep Nangal Ambia in Punjab, the NIA stated.

‘Prisons were becoming havens of the deadly nexus and hubs of gang wars’: NIA

The NIA also discovered that numerous offenders who were leading gangsters in India had fled to countries such as Pakistan, Canada, Malaysia, and Australia, from where they were planning significant crimes in collaboration with criminals imprisoned across India.

“The spotlight on these gangs has become sharper after reports of several prisons becoming havens of the deadly nexus and hubs of gang wars, which recently resulted in violence and murder inside the Goindwal Jail of Punjab and Tihar Jail of Delhi,” the NIA said.

These organizations were carrying out targeted executions and raising funding for their nefarious activities through drug and weapon smuggling, hawala, and extortion.

The NIA said that the probe agency is conducting further investigation as a part of its efforts to destroy the growing nexus among terrorists, gangsters, and drug smugglers, and also to dismantle their funding and infrastructure.
