Umesh Pal murder: Atiq Ahmed used FaceTime on iPhone to plan the crime from jail, was in constant touch with brother Ashraf in another jail

In an update to the Umesh Pal murder case, it has been revealed that Gangster turned politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were in touch with each other through iPhone’s FaceTime application. The Police also revealed that the gangster planned the murder from within the jail and also made all the preparations to save his son Asad Ahmed from the case and showcase his presence in Lucknow.

Atiq Ahmed is lodged in Sabarmati Jail in Gujarat while his brother Ashraf is in Bareilly jail in UP. According to reports, Ashraf’s brother-in-law Saddam used to go to Bareilly’s jail to meet Ashraf and make him talk to Atiq. STF was keeping an eye on Saddam’s activities and was continuously listening to the conversation between Atiq and Ashraf. After this, the duo started using the FaceTime app. According to the reports, Atiq had also communicated with the murderers of Umesh Pal.

As per reports, most of the time the two conversed about land deals and litigation. Ashraf was angry at Umesh Pal’s increasing interference in some matters and was asking Atiq to ‘settle the account’. At the same time, Atiq talked about solving the matter through mediators.

Also, the gangster had made all the arrangements to execute the murder of Umesh Pal and save his son Asad. According to police sources, the location of Mohammad Asad’s mobile was in Lucknow at the time of the incident. Not only this but money was also withdrawn from Asad’s ATM in Lucknow during the incident.

The police have examined the CCTV footage of the murder and have identified Asad in the video. However, as per the Police Asad deliberately left his phone and ATM card in Lucknow to deviate from the evidence in the case.

Umesh Pal, a key eyewitness in the 2005 murder of the then BSP MLA Raju Pal, was shot dead at his residence in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj on February 24. Umesh Pal was taken to a hospital immediately, but he passed away while receiving treatment. After reviewing the CCTV video from the crime scene, the Prayagraj Police have identified the criminals. According to authorities, a list of suspects and other information has been compiled for further necessary action.

Further based on the complaint launched by Umesh Pal’s wife Jaya Pal, police booked Atiq Ahmed, his brother Ashraf, his wife Shaista Parveen, two sons, aides Guddu Muslim and Gulam, and nine others. It is notable that Atiq and Ashraf are the prime accused in in the Raju Pal murder case.

The accused have been booked under sections 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with a deadly weapon), 149 (unlawful assembly), 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code and provisions of the Explosive Substances Act and the Criminal Law Amendment Act.

Delhi excise policy scam: BRS leader K Kavitha appears before ED for questioning

On Saturday, March 11, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and MLC K Kavitha appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy Scam.

Arun Ramachandran Pillai, another accused in the scam who is already in custody was confronted with K Kavitha who arrived at the ED headquarters located on APJ Abdul Kalam Road from her father’s official residence on Tughlak Road at around 11 am. A woman ED official was present during the questioning.

Reportedly, Kavitha was questioned about the alleged destruction of a phone she used during the time the scam took place.

Arun Ramachandran Pillai has withdrawn his statement before the Enforcement Directorate. The ED now relies on Gorantla Butchi Babu, Kavitha’s former auditor, who admitted to attending multiple meetings with Kavitha and engaging in WhatsApp chats.

Arun Ramachandran Pillai moved a city court accusing the ED of fabricating his statements in the case. According to the ED, he is a close aide of K Kavitha as well as an alleged frontman for the “South Group” liquor cartel.

The major accusation against Kavitha is that she had a benami interest in Indospiritis, a liquor company that was involved in the scam. Arun Ramachandran Pillai is accused by the ED of representing K Kavitha.

BRS protests against BJP’s Bandi Sanjay Kumar

Meanwhile, several BRS workers staged a protest against BJP’s Bandi Sanjay over his alleged derogatory remarks against K Kavitha.

Leaders of BRS held protests in Hyderabad and New Delhi seeking strict action against the BJP leader.

Several BRS women leaders from the Secunderabad Cantonment filed a complaint with the Begumpet police station, demanding that the police take action against him. Other police stations also received complaints, including Vanasthalipuram and SR Nagar. Party leaders and members of the cadre also staged protests at other intersections. The protesting BRS members raised slogans against Bandi Sanjaya and demanded the BJP state president apologize to Kavitha Kalvakunthla.

The BJP president reportedly told the reporters, “Would they kiss her if not arrest her,” in response to a question on whether Kavitha will be arrested in connection with the Delhi liquor scam.

BJP hits back

According to a clarification from Bandi Sanjay’s office, the BJP leader used a standard Telugu expression to ask if it would be appropriate to reward or punish someone for committing a crime.

Some of Bandi Sanjay’s statements from three days ago are being blown out of proportion. According to a statement from the Telangana BJP president’s office, this common Telugu expression refers to whether to reward or punish a person who has done some crime.”

The CM’s daughter has been called by the ED in accordance with the Delhi Excise policy case, therefore this is a distraction tactic to incite unrest in the state, the statement said.

In a tweet posted on Friday, Bandi Sanjay Kumar called the Kalvakunthla family ‘hypocrites’.”Women politicians are unsafe from BRS predators. Ironically TS CM’s daughter is protesting in Delhi, even as KCR fails to take action against BRS legislators being accused of sexual harassment by women leaders. Kalvakuntla Family of Hypocrites,” Bandi Sanjay tweeted.

Meanwhile, BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia took a dig at K Kavitha over her alleged involvement in the Delhi excise policy scam saying that she will only play the victim card.

“If it is an honest person, who is not involved in any law-defying act, they’ll clearly say so without ifs or buts. But K Kavitha is being questioned & she hasn’t said anything like that. They’ll play the victim card but won’t answer the public’s questions. So, it should be asked again if she has anything to do with Indospirits. She will have to say if she has anything to do with Buchi Babu. It seems that this corruption is so massive that when all links are getting connected, people too are pained that these corrupt people looted them & filled their own coffers,” Bhatia said in a press conference on Saturday.

The ‘South Group’

It is notable that a Delhi court on Friday remanded former deputy chief minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia to ED custody till 17th March 2023.  its remand notice presented before the court while seeking the custody of the AAP leader revealed that Sisodia tweaked the excise policy according to the whims of the ‘South Group’ in exchange for an upfront payment of Rs 100 crore.

According to the agency, the “south group” includes K. Kavitha, the leader of the BRS, and others in addition to Aurobindo Pharma promoter Sarath Reddy and YSR Congress member Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy from the Ongole Lok Sabha constituency. K Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter K Kavitha.

While BBC sermonizes on media freedom, the state broadcaster asks Gary Lineker to step back from ‘Match Of The Day’ for criticizing the UK govt

Gary Lineker, former professional English footballer and host of the ‘Match of the Day’ program, has been asked to stay away from his hosting duties by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) for his criticism of the anti-immigration policy of the Rishi Sunak-led-UK government.

In a statement on Friday (March 10), the national broadcaster of the United Kingdom informed that Lineker has been asked to ‘step back’ for breaching its social media usage guidelines.

BBC claimed that the ex-footballer was told to not take sides on ‘party political issues or political controversies.’ It said that until a clear position is reached on Lineker’s social media use, he will not be leading the sports coverage on BBC.

The censorship of one of its popular show hosts by the BBC was met with an immediate public backlash. Support poured in for Gary Lineker from all corners, including from fellow pundits on the highly popular Match Of The Day, such as Ian Wright and Alan Shearer.

“Everybody knows what Match of the Day means to me, but I’ve told the BBC I won’t be doing it tomorrow. Solidarity,” tweeted Ian Wright. “I have informed the BBC that I won’t be appearing on MOTD tomorrow (March 11) night,” the holder of premier league goal-scoring record Alan Shearer said in a tweet.

Soon after, other presenters, Alex Scott, Micah Richards, and Jermaine Jenas also joined hands in extending their support to Gary Lineker. Scott, Richards, and Jenas were not scheduled to appear on BBC this Sarturday but they made their feelings known regardless.

It must be mentioned that the British Broadcasting Corporation has been infamous for mouthing platitudes about press freedom and upholding free speech.

However, it has acted in stark contrast to its assumed position on such matters as it censored one of its long-standing hosts, and one of the most popular football voices over his criticism of the government.

On multiple occasions, the UK’s national broadcaster had attempted to tarnish India’s image and cry foul over the supposed lack of press freedom in the country. BBC, however, is not ready to walk the talk while it continues to virtue signal others on journalistic ethics and principles.

The Background of the Controversy

On Tuesday (March 7), Gary Lineker reacted strongly to a video by UK Home Secretary Suella Braverman wherein she announced plans for ‘swiftly’ deporting illegal immigrants who arrive on British shores in small boats.

“Last year, over 45,000 people made the unsafe, unnecessary and illegal journey across the (English channel). Our asylum system has been overwhelmed. We are now spending almost £7 million pounds (₹69.02 crores) a day on hotels,” she was heard as saying.

“Stopping the boats is one of the 5 promises the Prime Minister has made to the British people. And it’s my top priority. That’s why today I am announcing a new Illegal Migration Bill to do exactly that,” Braverman further added.

She announced that the new bill would ensure swift detention and deportation of illegal immigrants back to their home country (if safe) or to a third safe country (such as Rwanda).

“It’s not fair that people who travel through a string of safe countries and then come to the UK illegally can jump the queue and game our system. This bill will bring an end to that,” Suella Braverman concluded.

A miffed Gary Lineker responded to the video, “Good heavens, this is beyond awful.” He then compared the policy-making decision of the incumbent British government to that of the Nazi regime of Adolf Hitler in Germany in the 1930s.

“There is no huge influx. We take far fewer refugees than other major European countries. This is just an immeasurably cruel policy directed at the most vulnerable people in language that is not dissimilar to that used by Germany in the 30s, and I’m out of order?” he had tweeted.

Soon after the BBC de-platformed him for hitting out at the government’s policy, citing its social media usage policy on ‘impartiality.’

Attacks on Hindu temples have no place in Australia: Says PM Anthony Albanese after PM Modi raised the issue with him

Australia won’t tolerate any extreme actions and attacks that took place in religious buildings, and there is no place for such action against Hindu temples, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said while addressing a press conference in New Delhi, an official statement said today.

Responding to a media query about the assurances that the Australian PM gave to his Indian counterpart, Albanese said, “I gave him the assurance that Australia is a country that respects people’s faith. That we don’t tolerate the sort of extreme actions and attacks that we’ve seen on religious buildings, be they Hindu temples, mosques, synagogues, or churches. This has no place in Australia.” “And we will take every action through our police and also our security agencies to make sure that anyone responsible for this faces the full force of the law. We’re a tolerant multicultural nation, and there is no place in Australia for this activity,” the statement quoted him saying.

Earlier, India-Australia: Exchange of Agreements and Press Statements on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the Australian PM, in light of the recent attacks on temples in Australia, has assured that the safety and well-being of the Indian community in Australia is a priority for him.

“Since the last few weeks, news of attacks on temples in Australia are coming regularly. It is natural that such news worries people in India. I have raised these concerns with Prime Minister Albanese who has assured me that the safety of the Indian community is a special priority for him,” PM Modi said.

Recently, in the first week of March, Shree Laxmi Narayan Temple in Australia’s Brisbane was vandalised by pro-Khalistan supporters.

Temple President Satinder Shukla while speaking to The Australia Today said, “Temple Priest and devotees called this morning and notified me about the vandalism on the boundary wall of our temple.”

Sarah Gates, who is the Director of Hindu Human Rights said, “This latest hate crime is a pattern of Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) globally, clearly attempting to terrorise Australian Hindus. Coupled with a barrage of propaganda, illegal signs, and cyberbullying, the organisation intends to present all-pervasive threats, fear, and intimidation,” to The Australia Today.

In January, Shri Shiva Vishnu Temple in Australia’s Carrum Downs was vandalised with anti-Hindu graffiti.

The act came to notice on January 16 after temple devotees came for ‘darshan’ amid the three-day long “Thai Pongal” festival which was celebrated by Australia’s Tamil Hindu community, The Australia Today reported.

On the evening of January 15, 2023, Khalistan supporters tried to draw support for their referendum through a car rally in Melbourne. However, they failed miserably as less than two hundred people gathered out of an almost 60,000-strong Melbourne community, according to The Australia Today.

A week before the above incident, On January 12, the BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir in Australia’s Mill Park was smeared with anti-India and anti-Hindu graffiti.

The temple was vandalised by anti-India elements with anti-India slogans written on the temple’s walls, located in the suburb of Mill Park, The Australia Today reported. Patel, an onlooker shared how he witnessed the vandalised walls of the temple when he visited the site.

On Saturday, the Jharkhand Police said that a 17-year-old boy had murdered his girlfriend by banging a metal rod on her head after he learned that she was parallelly talking to some other boy through Instagram. The incident is said to have happened on Wednesday, March 8 at Urjanagar in Godda district.

The dead body was recovered from a field in Jharkhand’s Godda district on Thursday morning. The police also recovered the phone of the girl, which was lying beside her dead body.

According to the reports, the girl from the Mahagama police station area was reported missing on Holi, March 8. When she didn’t return after leaving the house for playing Holi, and her phone was found switched off, her family members searched for her everywhere, but could not locate her. After that, her father lodged a complaint with the police.

On Thursday morning, some people saw the body of a girl lying in a field in Govidpur village and informed the police. Police then called the family of the girl, who reached the spot and identified the victim. Following this, the police launched a probe and caught the boy after suspecting his involvement.

“The boy and the girl, who studied in the same class at a reputed English medium school in Urjanagar, were in a relationship. Infuriated after getting to know that she was talking to another boy on Instagram, he hit her with an iron rod on Wednesday evening when she was on the way to her friend’s place to celebrate Holi,” a police officer said.

The Police identified the accused who confessed during interrogation that he killed the girl. “The metal rod used in the crime and the girl’s mobile phone were found a few metres away from where the body was found,” confirmed Superintendent of Police Nathu Singh Meena. Notably, a similar crime was reported from Jammu and Kashmir where a 26-year-old professional Dr Sumedha Sharma was murdered by her male best friend over a minor argument on the day of Holi. The boy identified as Johar Mehmood Ganai stabbed Sharma with a butcher knife and later tried to kill himself. However, he survived the incident after the Police arrived at the spot.

Selena Gomez expresses gratitude toward her best friend Francia Raisa for her kidney donation

Selena Gomez acknowledged her gratefulness to her best friend Francia Raisa, who donated her kidney to Gomez.

While appearing on the latest episode of Apple TV+’s documentary series, Gomez, reflected on receiving a kidney transplant from Francia, in 2017, when she struggled with life-threatening health issues due to complications from lupus, reported People, a US-based media company.

“My best friend. Her name is Francia. She said, No, I am absolutely getting tested,”recalled Gomez as she spoke about her journey with the autoimmune disease. “And within three days, she went to get tested, and she was a match. And it was one of those moments where I felt watched over. I know I was so so so lucky.”

The ‘Only Murders in the Building’ star continued: “I understand that that doesn’t happen for a lot of people, and I know the outcome of some of those situations and how serious they are, so I do not take it lightly that it’s happened to me that way.”

The decision, added Gomez, has made her “in debt” to Raisa.

“I will never ever, ever be more in debt to a person than Francia,” she added. “The idea of someone not even second-guessing to be a donor was unbelievably overwhelming.”

In March 2021, nearly four years after she received her friend’s kidney, the “Lose You to Love Me” singer reposted a thread written by Raisa in honour of World Kidney Day.

“If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I’ve kept my kidney donation process pretty private,” Raisa wrote on Twitter alongside a photo of herself in the hospital. “However, I think I’ve gotten to a point in my life where I feel comfortable and confident in speaking about my experience and using my platform to raise awareness for the various kidney diseases that affect our population.”

She continued, “So, in honour of World Kidney Day, let’s talk about the impact of kidney disease and how we can work to ensure those living with kidney disease are living well.”

Pakistan’s FM Bilawal Bhutto admits his country faces an ‘uphill task’ to try and get Kashmir into ‘centre’ of agenda at UN

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto confessed that his country has failed to urge the UN to pay attention to the Kashmir issue due to India’s massive influence and diplomacy.

He acknowledged that Islamabad has an ‘uphill task’ to put the Kashmir issue at the centre of the UN’s agenda, due to strong objections from India. In his subsequent reference to the latter, he fumbled, addressing India first as ‘our friend’ before calling it a ‘neighbouring country.’

He was addressing a press conference at the United Nations. “You’re also right to note that we face a particularly uphill task to try and get Kashmir into the centre of the agenda at the United Nations,” he opined while responding to a query that compared the Palestinian and Kashmir’s current situations.

“And whenever the issue of Kashmir is brought up, our friends within, with our friend, neighbouring countries, strongly object, vociferously object and they perpetuate a post-fact narrative where they try to claim that this is not a dispute for the United Nations, that this is not a disputed territory recognized for the international community,” the foreign minister asserted. He added, that they (India) insist that their usurpation of Kashmir should be endorsed.

The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader continued, “while we do find it difficult to get the truth across, we are persistent in our efforts.” He claimed, that he always makes an effort to bring up both the predicament of the people of Kashmir and Palestine whenever possible, whether it be in the UN Security Council or at other forums.

“I think your parallel is very justified. There are many similarities between the plight of the people of Kashmir and the plight of the people of Palestine. I think it’s fair to say that both issues remain unaddressed by the United Nations and we’d like to see an extra focus not only on Palestine but also on Kashmir,” he alleged.

Zardari was speaking to the media on the outcomes of the Women in Islam Conference and Commemoration of the First Islamophobia Day.

India recently rebuked the FM for bringing up the Kashmir issue at the UNSC debate on ‘Women, Peace and Security.’ Ruchira Kamboj, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, referred to his remarks as ‘malicious and misleading propaganda’ that ‘is undeserving of even receiving a response.’

Sukesh Chandrasekhar also rubbished claims about Sisodia being housed with gangsters. “Sir, Mr Sisodia is being well-taken care of in this VVVIP ward, and all these allegations are well planned and orchestrated by Mr Kejriwal, Satyendar Jain and the jail administration,” he added.

Reportedly, the investigating team recovered some ‘medicines’ from the farmhouse. Speaking about the alleged objectionable packets of medicine recovered from the farmhouse, the Delhi Police said that Digene and regular sugar medications were among the medicines the police retrieved from the farmhouse. Additionally, there are some medicines that are being investigated.

The police have found nothing suspicious in the death so far, but an investigation into the cause of the death is on.

According to Delhi Police officials, a Holi party was held at the farmhouse owned by an industrialist. The industrialist who hosted the party is also wanted in connection with another case. “Police are checking the guest list to determine who was present at the farmhouse. As the inquiry into Satish Kaushik’s death is concerned, so far nothing suspicious has emerged. Bangladesh cricket team’s captain Shakib Al Hasan explodes in anger and repeatedly hits a fan in Chattogram, video goes viral

Bangladesh’s popular cricketer Shakib Al Hasan was hit with another controversy after a video of him hitting a fan went viral on social media.

The Bangladeshi allrounder was in Chattogram for a promotional event, and a huge crowd showed up to see him. He managed to find his vehicle when a fan tried to seize his cap from him. Amidst the uproar, Shakib appeared to lose his composure at this action and repeatedly attacked the person with the cap before being led away.

Interestingly, this is not the first time that Shakib is embroiled in controversies. He snapped at the leg umpire during this season of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), in January. He scolded the latter for not awarding a wide to the ball that was above his head. He later apologized for his behavior.

The Bangladesh captain was suspended from all forms of cricket for two years in 2019 by the International Cricket Council (ICC). One year of the ban was suspended, after he pleaded guilty to three counts of violating the ICC anti-corruption code.

In 2021, in the course of two overs during a T20 match between Mohammedan Sporting and Abahani Limited, Shakib lost his cool not once, but twice. Shakib violated multiple standards of conduct by kicking, uprooting, and tossing the stumps on the ground because he was upset with the umpires’ rulings and showed full contempt for the match officials.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board issued him a three-match suspension in 2014 after he made an offensive gesture on live television during the second one day international match against Sri Lanka in Mirpur. He was also fined (Bangladeshi taka) BDT 300,000 ($3800).

In the same year, he had beaten up a spectator, Raeeszade Raeed, in a Bangladesh stadium. It was alleged that he had misbehaved with the skipper’s wife, Umme Ahmed Shishir.
