0

The Expert Committee, formed to examine the legislative competence of the State Legislature to enact a law to ban polygamy in Assam has submitted its report, the state Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Sunday.

Taking to Twitter, Sarma while making the announcement of the development said that the state is now closer of creating a positive ecosystem for women’s empowerment irrespective of caste, creed or religion.

“Today, the Expert Committee, formed to examine the legislative competence of the State Legislature to enact a law to end polygamy in Assam, submitted its report. Assam is now closer of creating a positive ecosystem for women’s empowerment irrespective of caste, creed or religion,” Sarma said in his tweet.

In May this year, the state government constituted a four-member committee to examine the legality of such action.

The committee was chaired by retired Gauhati High Court judge Justice Rumi Phukan. The other members are Assam Advocate General Debajit Saikia, Assam Additional Advocate General Nalin Kohli and advocate at the Gauhati High Court Nekibur Zaman.

However, in July, the Government of Assam extended the term of the Expert Committee to examine the Legislative Competence of the State Legislature to enact a law to end polygamy by one month.

“The term of the Expert Committee is extended for a period of one month from July 13, 2023 to August 12, 2023,” the state government had said.

The committee was given a deadline of 60 days to submit its report.

The committee has scrutinized the provisions of The Muslim Personal Law (Shariat) Act, 1937, along with Article 25 of the Constitution of India, in relation to the directive principle of state policy for a uniform civil code.

Rajdeep Sardesai tries to distance himself from his own rant against the middle class by saying he was calling only a section of it communal

On Sunday, 6th August 2023, Rajdeep Sardesai distanced himself from his own remarks against the middle class in the country that he made in a program on Saturday 5th August 2023. Rajdeep Sardesai said in his clarification tweet that he was calling only a section of the middle class communal and not the whole middle class.

Rajdeep Sardesai tweeted, “I wish people see the entire 200th episode of Neta Nagri on The Lallantop before making comments on short clips. India’s middle class is wonderfully aspirational, hard-working, resourceful and will drive India forward in the next century. It is our growth engine. However, a section of it has also got tied up in communal poison (I was not seeking to generalise if it appeared that way I apologise ). Great nations are built on bridge builders and not divisiveness. We (Hindus, Muslims, all communities) need to reflect and move forward TOGETHER as one INDIA.”

On 5th August 2023, India Today journalist Rajdeep Sardesai ranted against the Indian middle class and scientific community, labelling them the most communal sections of society.

Sardesai spewed venom against the middle-class society in the 200th episode of The Lallantop’s show “Neta Nagari Mahotsav”. A student in the audience of the show asked about what could be a solution for curbing the transition from being religious to becoming communal. While anchor Saurabh Dwivedi opined that “rationality” can be the solution, Rajdeep Sardesai intervened to speak a ‘bitter truth’.

While spelling out his “bitter truth”, Rajdeep launched an attack against the middle class, blaming them for the weakening of the political left as they have become highly communal and selfish in the past 30 years.

“The truth is that in the middle class of our country, in the past 30 years, someone was asking about the political left, and why it got weakened, it is because the middle class only takes its self-interest into consideration while moving ahead. This middle class has become the most communal in this country. The poor are never communal in this country. The poor Hindu-Muslim need each other more,” Rajdeep harangued.

Sardesai further asserted that it is when the poor gain financial stability and become middle class that start turning their religious identity into the communal one. The ‘journalist’ also claimed that a section of scientists are the most communal minds in the country.

“The communalism is highest among those who make such statements made on social media. They are the school-college-attending middle class. Some of the most communal minds in this country are the scientists,” Sardesai said. It is notable that Rajdeep Sardesai did not mention about any section of the middle class in his original statement. However, in the clarification tweet he posted after facing a backlash, he said that he was referring to a section of the middle class in the country.

“Who is Sushil Gupta”: Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit dismisses AAP MP as war of words intensifies between the I.N.D.I.A. alliance partners

The war of words between Delhi Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit and the Aam Aadmi Party continues unabated even as the two parties are part of the same I.N.D.I.A. alliance. Dismissing the comments of AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sushil Gupta on the Delhi ordinance bill, Sandeep Dikshit has now responded and said that he doesn’t take people like Gupta seriously.

Responding to Sushil Gupta’s comments asking why Sandeep Dikshit is not supporting AAP in opposing the bill, Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit said, “Who is Sushil Gupta? He is the one who used to earlier roam around in Congress demanding a seat. He also came to Congress to do some trade. I don’t take this man seriously. Such people don’t deserve a comment.”

The Rajya Sabha MP had earlier said, “All Congress leaders are standing with AAP on the ordinance. Sandeep Dikshit will have to think about whether or not he is in Congress, is he with Rahul Gandhi or some other Congress.”

Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party are part of I.N.D.I.A. coalition that has been conjured up to take on PM Narendra Modi in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Congress party has agreed to support AAP in opposing the bill in the Parliament but that decision has left leaders like Sandeep Dikshit unhappy.

Commenting on the matter on 31 July, Dikshit said, “BJP has a majority in Lok Sabha. This bill should be passed in the House. It is according to the present circumstances of Delhi. If you want to provide authority to Delhi, then it should be elevated to the status of a full state. In my opinion, it is wrong to oppose the bill.”

The statement was opposite to the grand old party’s stand to oppose the measure which led to a verbal tussle between the Congress veteran and the AAP leaders. Delhi Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj had said, “When the Congress leadership has decided to oppose the bill, then what Sandeep Dikshit has to say on this does not matter.”

Notably, the Congressman earlier remarked that he could have shown the “real truth of Arvind Kejriwal’s governance” to Karnataka minister Dinesh Gundu Rao who called the mohalla clinics run by the Delhi government “overhyped” and that he was left “disappointed” after a visit to one such facility at Panchsheel Park.

Commenting on the ongoing war of words between the two “alliance partners”, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said, “With such friends who need enemies. This isn’t anything close to the spirit of I.N.D.I.A. This is just an opportunistic alliance of people who have nothing in common, least of all a mission or vision for the country.”

Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023, to replace the ordinance on transfers and postings of senior officers in the country’s national capital Delhi, was passed by the Lok Sabha on August 3, and is set to be presented in the Upper House on August 7.

BSP MP Danish Ali objects to ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ slogan at Amroha during launch of Amrut Bharat Station Scheme, BJP says he has a Pakistani mindset

On Sunday, 6th August 2023, there was a ruckus in the virtual inauguration program of the Amrut Bharat Station Scheme at Amroha railway station in Uttar Pradesh by prime minister Narendra Modi. During the program, BSP MP Kunwar Danish Ali, who was present on the stage, got angry when people raised slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai. “This is not a party-specific programme. It is a central government programme. Why are such slogans being raised here?”, the MP said.

The reaction of BSP MP Danish Ali stirred anger among people, and the BJP leaders on the stage expressed their disagreement with his remarks. Meanwhile, the people gathered in the pandal below the stage protested vehemently against the BSP MP, causing a ruckus.

As the situation worsened, the RPF, police, and railway staff present at the venue took charge to control the chaos. The disturbance persisted for an extended period, but eventually, the authorities managed to persuade the MP to take a seat, and the agitated workers were pacified.

Today at 11 am, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was scheduled to virtually inaugurate the Amrut Bharat Railway Station Scheme, aimed at redeveloping 508 railway stations nationwide. The program was organised at Amroha railway station for this purpose, and MP Kunwar Danish Ali was among the invited guests, seated on the stage.

During the event, while addressing the audience, BJP MLC Hari Singh Dhillon raised the slogan of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai.” As soon as the slogan of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” was raised, the BSP MP on the stage became upset and expressed his protest against chanting it. He said, “This is not a party programme. It is the Centre’s programme. There should not be such sloganeering.” The statement made by the BSP MP angered the people, leading them to respond by continuously chanting slogans of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Bande Mataram”.

BSP MP Kunwar Danish Ali and BJP leaders confronted each other. Witnessing the commotion, railway staff, RPF, and police personnel in the vicinity intervened to mediate and calm the situation. The BJP members criticised the BSP MP’s opposition to the slogan of “Bharat Mata ki Jai,” referring to it as reflecting a Pakistani mindset.

Danish Ali said, “The people present in the program were engaged in making it appear a program of the BJP. I opposed that. Talking about the slogan, Bharat Mata is not for their fathers and grandfathers alone. Everyone belongs to Bharat Mata. We also worship Bharat Mata five times a day. We sit on the ground and offer namaz five times a day. But the BJP people start making every program their party’s program.”

Amroha BJP district convener Manish Daksh said, “BSP MP Danish Ali was irritated by the slogan of Bharat Mata Ki Jai. We feel that he is not an MP of India but of Pakistan.”

Punjab: 77 Kg heroin seized, 4 smugglers arrested in one of the biggest heroin busts of the year

On Sunday, the 6th of August, Punjab Police made one of the biggest seizures of heroin this year as part of the crackdown on drug networks operating in the state. According to Police officials, around 77 kilograms of heroin was seized in two separate operations which were conducted by the Ferozepur’s Counter Intelligence Wing.

According to the officials, four accused were also arrested in these operations. The Punjab Police also seized three pistols from the accused drug traffickers. It is alleged that they were part of a larger drug smuggling racket which is being operated by suspected masterminds and smugglers who are sitting across the border.

Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav stated that these modules were actively involved in trans-border and inter-state drug smuggling.

DGP Yadav also shared the details of these operations from his official X (Twitter) handle. In his post, DGP Yadav said, “In one of the biggest heroin seizures of 2023, in two separate intelligence-led operations, Counter Intelligence, Ferozepur has apprehended 4 drug traffickers and recovered 77Kg heroin (41Kg+36Kg) and 3 pistols.”

DGP Yadav also added that FIRs have been filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Fazilka’s State Special Operation Cell (SSOC).

As per the officials, the investigation is ongoing and the Punjab Police is working with the intention to make Punjab a drug-free state.

This major comes days after the Ferozepur SSOC arrested a drug peddler named Shinder Singh. He was arrested on the 3rd of August with 6 kg heroin and Rs 1.5 lakh in cash, which was allegedly drug money. After his arrest, Singh made several disclosures, and on the basis of the details he shared, the authorities seized more contraband drugs.

Back then, DGP Yadav stated that during the interrogation, Singh revealed that he had concealed 4 kg of heroin beneath a road at his native Bute Dian Channa village.

The senior police official stated that the SSOC received credible information indicating that Shinder and his accomplices had purchased a large consignment of heroin which was smuggled into Indian territory by smugglers and agencies based in Pakistan using the riverine route in the Ferozepur sector.

DGP Yadav said, “Following investigations, the police have nominated his four accomplices, who are on the run and expected to have a big haul of heroin. Police teams are conducting raids to nab them.”

‘Cage fight’ with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg to be live streamed on X (Twitter), announces Elon Musk

0

It is now clear that X sees Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta as a competitive threat, Elon Musk’s latest posts are the proof. X CEO tweeted, “Am lifting weights throughout the day, preparing for the fight. Don’t have time to work out, so I just bring them to work.”

This was followed by another tweet directly pointing out at Zuckerberg. He wrote, “Zuck v Musk fight will be live-streamed on ?. All proceeds will go to charity for veterans.” Last month, Musk challenged the CEO of Meta and asked him for a “Cage fight.”

Musk tweeted, “I have a proposal for Mr. Zuckerberg… Winner of our fight gets ownership of the other persons social media platform for 24 HOURS. You win, you get Twitter. I win, I get Meta. Let me know. Best, Elon “your wife drives a Tesla” Musk.” To which Zuckerberg responded, “send me the location.”

The tension between the two escalated notably since the introduction of the Threads app. In July, when Meta owner marked his return to the social media platform Twitter after 11 years. Taking to Twitter, Zuckerberg posted a meme, which showcased a man dressed as the superhero, Spiderman pointing at another dressed in the same costume. The meme did not have any captions.

This post of Zuckerberg came in a few hours after his company Meta unveiled ‘Threads’ a new app designed to directly compete with Elon Musk’s Twitter. Several assumed that he mocked Musk through this meme, pointing toward Meta’s new app ‘Threads’. Soon after Zuckerberg shares the post, fans swamped the comment section with their hilarious reactions.

Musk’s X has threatened the latter with a lawsuit following the successful launch of Meta’s new Twitter rival, Threads, reported CNN. An attorney for Twitter on Wednesday sent a letter to CEO Mark Zuckerberg accusing Meta of stealing trade secrets by employing former Twitter employees. Semafor was the first to report on the letter. The veracity of the letter was confirmed to CNN by a source with knowledge of the situation.

In a letter, Alex Spiro, an outside lawyer for Twitter owner Elon Musk, claimed that Meta had committed “systematic, willful, and unlawful misappropriation of Twitter’s trade secrets and other intellectual property.”In response to reports on the letter, Musk tweeted: “Competition is fine, cheating is not.”

The letter goes on to say that Meta hired former Twitter employees who “have improperly retained Twitter documents and electronic devices” and that Meta “deliberately” involved these employees in developing Threads. “Twitter intends to strictly enforce its intellectual property rights,” Spiro said, adding, “and demands that Meta take immediate steps to stop using any Twitter trade secrets or other highly confidential information.”

The letter was dismissed by Meta spokesperson Andy Stone. “No one on the Threads engineering team is a former Twitter employee — that’s just not a thing,” he said on Threads, as per CNN. Since Musk paid USD 44 billion to buy Twitter, the social network has faced competition from an increasing number of smaller microblogging sites, including the decentralized social network Mastodon and Bluesky, a rival supported by former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey.

However, Twitter has not indicated that it will file a lawsuit. Unlike some Twitter competitors, Threads has grown quickly, and, according to Zuckerberg, 30 million users signed up for the app on its first day. Threads was the number-one free app on the iOS App Store as of Thursday afternoon.

According to Carl Tobias, a law expert at the University of Richmond, the legal threat may or may not result in litigation, but it might be a tactic to impede Meta. “Sometimes lawyers, they threaten but don’t follow through. Or they see how far they can go. That may be the case, but I don’t know that for sure,” Tobias told CNN.

He added: “There may be some value to tying it up in litigation and complicating life for Meta,” CNN reported. Let’s wait for what happens next.

Nuh violence: 25 Rohingyas arrested by Haryana Police as the crackdown on rioters continues

Several Rohingyas have been arrested in connection with the Nuh violence. It is being told that the police have registered more than 20 cases and arrested around 25 Rohingya refugees.

Officials say that their documents are being examined. Preliminary investigations revealed that all of them had been given refugee identity cards by the UN. Most of the Rohingyas living in Nuh are from Myanmar’s Rakhine state. After the violence in 2017, they came to Nuh through many routes in India.

According to reports, there are approximately two thousand Rohingyas currently residing in Nuh, and a large number of them possess UN-issued refugee cards. They have once again attracted attention due to their involvement in the recent violence that occurred in Nuh on July 31 this year.

Police officials have expressed suspicions that some of these refugees may be actively participating in spreading violence in the area. The police have received inputs and information that support these suspicions.

In Tavadu, authorities have demolished 250 slums inhabited by Rohingya refugees, as they were located on forest department land. The police and district administration assert that these refugees were engaged in various criminal activities. This action was taken in response to their involvement in the recent violence in Nuh. The police are actively searching for other individuals who are believed to be involved in the violent incident.

A significant number of Rohingya refugees have been residing in a slum area situated approximately 500 meters away from the mini secretariat. It has been reported that over 200 slums have been established in this location. Official sources indicate that some of these Rohingya refugees were implicated in the recent violent incidents, and there are emerging revelations about their involvement in various criminal activities.

In light of these developments, authorities are contemplating appropriate actions to address the situation. Additionally, the documents and papers of these refugees are currently under examination to verify their identities and legal status.

Nuh’s new SP Narendra Bijrania said, “We have received inputs about the involvement of Rohingyas in the violence in Nuh. The documents of these Rohingyas living as refugees are being examined to see who has a UN card.”

The escalation of violence in Nuh has been partly attributed to the dissemination of videos on social media. Police officials have confirmed the arrest of approximately 60 suspects in connection with this incident. Additionally, 10 cases related to social media activities have been registered. Moreover, the number of injured individuals in the Nuh violence has increased to 88. By Friday, 70 of these injured individuals had been identified.

On July 31, violence broke out in Haryana’s Nuh district during the ‘Brij Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra,’ which was organized by Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal. Vehicles were burnt and stones pelted at the Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s Jalabhishek Yatra as clashes erupted between two communities in the Muslim-majority region of Mewat in Haryana.

Rajasthan: Congress government suspends its Jaipur Mayor Munesh Gurjar after her husband was arrested for taking bribe

In a late-night order, on the 5th of August, the Congress government suspended its own Jaipur Heritage Municipal Corporation Mayor Munesh Gurjar, a day after, her husband Sushil Gurjar was arrested by the state’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). He was arrested along with two of his accomplices for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 2 lakhs in exchange for issuing a patta (land lease).

The official order added that Munesh Gurjar has also been suspended from her civic body seat, Ward Number 43 in Jaipur’s heritage corporation. This action was taken so that she can not influence the ongoing investigation in this matter.

Hemant Priyadarshy, the Additional Director General (ADG) of the ACB, stated that the ACB had received intel from the Jaipur special investigation wing (SIW). According to the intel, it was alleged that the Mayor’s husband Sushil Gurjar was regularly taking bribes through his middlemen Narayan Singh and Anil Dube for issuing land leases.

When a complainant claimed that Sushil Gurjar and his middlemen were demanding Rs 2 lakhs to expedite the approval of the land lease, they laid a trap and carried out this anti-corruption operation.

Subsequently, the ACB officials raided the residence of Jaipur Heritage Mayor Munesh Gurjar in Adarsh Province on Hatwarda Street. During the raid, they caught her husband, Sushil Gurjar red-handed taking a bribe of Rs 2 lakh from the complainant.

Priyadarshy said, “Based on the complaint, an ACB team on Friday ( 4 August) under the supervision of deputy inspector general of police (DIGP) Randheer Singh laid a trap in which Narayan Singh was caught red-handed while accepting the Rs.2 lakh bribe from the complainer. Sushil Gurjar and Anil Dube were also held for their alleged involvement in the matter.”

The ACB team recovered Rs 40 lakh in cash and the file of the said land lease from the residence of Mayor Munesh Gurjar. Additionally, they also seized Rs 8 lakh in cash from Narayan Singh’s residence. The ACB officials categorically stated and have mentioned this in their official order, that Jaipur Heritage Mayor Munesh Gurjar was present in her home when her husband was caught taking a bribe from the complainant. According to the officials, they are investigating the case under the Prevention of Corruption Act and it is likely that the Mayor was also involved in these corruption deals.

The order stated, “Since the mayor’s husband was caught accepting the bribe at the mayor’s residence while she was present there, and Rs 40 lakh was recovered in cash from the residence, it appears that the mayor was involved and could influence the investigation in the case.”

Troubles mounting for Congress: Red diary, followed by this corruption dealing

The alleged rampant corruption under the Congress government in Rajasthan has become the central issue in state politics following the Red Diary row. Congress had to sack its own Minister Rajendra Guda for targeting the state government for indulging in corrupt deals which he has claimed are extensively covered in the purported red-diary.

Additionally, the opposition party BJP has launched a full-frontal attack against the Ashok Gehlot-led government on the issue of corruption and not coming clear on the issue of Red-diary.

In the wake of these allegations of Corruption, the recent expose of a trench of cash found in the residence of the party’s Mayor Munesh Gurjar has increased troubles for the party. Following the incident, CM Ashok Gehlot defended his government and claimed that the action showed their commitment to tackling corruption. He also highlighted previous cases in which action was taken for alleged corruption deals, however, the arrested included individuals at different ranks and files underscoring that corruption has become all pervasive in the state.

CM Gehlot said, “ACB works like this only in Rajasthan. In other states, they don’t get permission. We have arrested the Collector, Superintendent of Police, members of the Rajasthan Public Service Commission, and now the Mayor’s husband.”

Congress party is being blamed for the recent corruption deal as the Municipal Corporation in Jaipur Heritage has a Congress board. Additionally, it was the Congress government that established two new municipal corporations in Kota and Jaipur in 2019. They cited the large population of these cities as a reason for the creation of two new Municipal corporations, however, the indulgence of its Mayor in corruption which is being claimed stretched for a long period of time is only adding worries to the party, particularly with its own former Minister exposing the extent of corruption.

Mind your words or face criminal complaint: Punjab governor accuses CM Bhagwant Mann of making derogatory references to him

Banwarilal Purohit, the governor of Punjab, has escalated the ongoing dispute with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann by charging him with making offensive remarks about him during the most recent assembly session in June. He also threatened to file a criminal complaint for assaulting his image against the latter if he continued to make similar statements outside of the House in future.

The governor stated, “You read the defamatory speech delivered by Mann in the assembly. He used derogatory language against me and claimed that I keep writing letters and called me idle. This is not done.”

He further warned, “The chief minister has certain legal protections in the House. Let him utter such remarks against me outside. The day he does, I will tell my office to file a criminal complaint against him and book him under Section 124 of the Indian Penal Code (assaulting the reputation of a President or governor with intent to compel or restrain the exercise of any lawful power).”

He asserted, “Even an attempt to put pressure or overawe the governor makes him liable for criminal action. Nobody can defame the governor.” He voiced that the Aam Aadmi Party leader must be mindful of his utterances. He pointed out that the chief minister must be careful with his language and cannot keep calling him names without any reason and added, “A governor has a lot of power.”

He accused the state government of breaking the Constitution’s Section 167, which mandates that the chief minister must provide any administrative information demanded by the governor. “Even the Supreme Court in March had counselled them to respect this Constitutional provision.”

He proclaimed that despite writing the chief minister 10 to 15 letters, he never received a response or one that was inadequate. “They are against the Constitution and get angry the moment I ask for any information.”

He refuted Bhagwant Mann’s claim that he is only accountable to three crore Punjabis and not Raj Bhavan and noted that all of his deeds are legal under the Constitution. “But he has to run the state according to the Constitution, not on his whims. You’re not a king.”

“When all means are exhausted, I will do whatever needs to be done. I am now moving in that direction. I will send a detailed report to the President to do what she deems fit,” he responded when questioned about his options if the Punjab government doesn’t share any information with him.

Rajasthan: Congress MLA Babulal Bairwa’s nephew Virendra Bairwa arrested in a rape case

On Saturday, August 5, the nephew of Congress MLA Babubal Bairwa from Rajasthan’s Kathumar was arrested for allegedly raping a woman, filming the crime and threatening to make the videos viral online. The matter pertains to the Kherli police station precinct of the Alwar district.

The accused has been identified as Virendra who allegedly raped the victim on the pretext of getting her a job as a health worker. The arrest of accused Virendra comes after a case was registered against him on July 31st. Subsequently, a medical examination of the victim was conducted and her statement was recorded in court.

According to reports, the accused knew the victim’s husband for the last two years and frequently visited their home. Virendra Bairwa, the accused, claimed to be Congress MLA Babulal Bairwa’s personal assistant. The accused would frequently visit her beauty parlour and try to entice her by promising her a job in the health department.

The 43-year-old victim stated she did not tell her husband about the harassment she was facing. According to her complaint, the accused, Virendra Bairwa, barged into her home one day while her husband was away and raped her. He also filmed the act and later used it to intimidate her, threatening to kill her husband and child if she revealed anything about it to her husband.

Following this, the accused repeatedly visited her home and raped her. He would also promise to obtain her a government job. The woman told her husband about accused Virendra’s alleged crime, and the obscene messages he was sending her. The victim’s husband then installed CCTV cameras in his home and relocated his family to his village.  The accused allegedly used his political influence to harass the victim and her husband several times.

The victim alleged that accused Virendra tried to falsely implicate her husband after damaging his own vehicle. The police arrested her husband, however, he was later released. The victim further claimed that the accused used to threaten her over phone calls. She added that when she went to Kherli police station to lodge a complaint against the accused, the police allegedly refused to register a case and take action.

Meanwhile, Kathumar SP Ashook Chauhan informed that the accused has been arrested under sections 323, 376 (2) (N), 504 and 506 of the IPC.

Reacting to his nephew’s arrest Congress MLA Babulal Bairwa claimed that the case is a “political conspiracy” to tarnish his image. He further alleged that the victim and his nephew had only had a scuffle, however, a rape case has been registered.
