‘I slaughtered a cow, send me to jail’: Akbar Ali surrenders at a police station in Ayodhya

On Saturday, 8th July 2023, an interesting incident unfolded in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, where a man named Akbar Ali voluntarily surrendered himself in front of the police for slaughtering a cow. The accused, who had been on the run for a year and a half, arrived at the Rudauli Kotwali police station wearing a placard on his chest, urging the authorities to arrest him and send him to jail.

This incident took place during the Conflict Resolution Day event organised at the Kotwali police station, where individuals were presenting their grievances to the police. The man, identified as Akbar Ali, approached Circle Officer Satyendra Bhushan Tiwari and confessed to his crime, expressing his faith in the police and vowing not to engage in criminal activities again.

Akbar Ali told Satyendra Bhushan that he was involved in the cow slaughter case, which led to his prolonged evasion of the law. He disclosed that his wife was already imprisoned in connection with the same case, and his house had been destroyed. Seeking redemption, he willingly surrendered, believing in the police force.

The incident dates back to 2022 when a cow was slaughtered by a group of individuals near Athar village, falling under the jurisdiction of the Sujaganj outpost in Rudauli Kotwali. A case was registered against six people for the act of cow slaughter, and while five of them had already been sent to jail, Akbar was on the run until now.

Circle Officer Rudauli, Satyendra Bhushan Tiwari, confirmed that the accused individual, responsible for the cow’s killing, surrendered during the Conflict Resolution Day event. He said that Akbar Ali has been taken into custody, and further legal proceedings will be initiated in the case. The surrender of Akbar Ali marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the cow slaughter incident, providing closure to a long-standing pursuit of justice.

BBC presenter accused of paying over £ 35,000 to a teen for sexually explicit images – Here is what we know so far

On July 8th (local time), The Sun published a shocking story of an unnamed BBC presenter who allegedly paid a teen 35,000 Euros over a period of three years for sexually explicit images. The mother of the victim has levelled the allegations at the BBC presenter. Following the reports, BBC has initiated a probe into the conduct of the “famous” presenter, who has been taken off-air following the report published in The Sun.

The family complained to the BBC on 19th May, and an investigation by the corporation was launched headed by a cyber-crime expert. However, the presenter stayed on air and was allegedly sending money until the family approached The Sun. The young person’s mother told The Sun, “All I want is for this man to stop paying my child for sexual pictures and stop him funding my child’s drug habit.”

As per the Sun’s report, when the mother found out about the alleged exchange of money for sexually explicit images, she begged BBC to make the famous presented stop sending cash to her child. She further added that the young victim used the money to feed his “spiralling” crack cocaine habit. She said, “I blame this BBC man for destroying my child’s life — taking my child’s innocence and handing over the money for crack cocaine that could kill my child.”

BBC presenter kept paying for weeks after the initial complaint

The BBC presenter allegedly sent 1,000 Pounds to her child’s account in June via PayPal. The mother said, “My child said they had run out of money and then suddenly had this cash. It’s obvious to me the BBC hadn’t spoken to this man between our complaint on 19th May and in June as they thought he was too important. We never wanted an investigation. We just wanted the BBC to tell him to stop. Initially, the security boss gave us a number that didn’t exist.”

Narrating one of the encounters between her child and the BBC presenter, she said, “Earlier this year, I heard him on the phone saying to my child, ‘I told you not to f***ing ring me’. It was shocking as I’d see how he would act on the telly, and then he would say stuff like that.”

According to the mother, the exchange of photographs started in 2020 when the young person was only 17 years old. Shockingly, the BBC presenter never tried to hide his identity and often sent pictures of himself at work. After the family confronted the young person, they were shown an account statement containing several deposits from the BBC presenter, out of which one was 5,000 Pounds. “One time, he had sent £5,000 in one lump. The money had been exchanged for sexually explicit photographs of my child,” she added.

The mother said her child was happy-go-lucky but changed to a ghost-like crack addict after the money started pouring in.

The mother saw a picture of the presenter having a video chat preparing for a “show” while in his underwear. She said, “I loved watching him on the TV. So I was shocked to see a picture of him sitting in his underwear on a sofa in his house. I immediately recognised him. He was leaning forward, getting ready for my child to perform for him. My child told me, ‘I have shown things’, and this was a picture from some kind of video call.”

The BBC presenter, drawing a 6-figure salary, was suspended pending investigation. Several BBC presenters came forward to claim it was not them.

BBC said an internal probe is underway

In a statement, BBC said, “We treat any allegations very seriously, and we have processes in place to proactively deal with them. As part of that, if we receive information that requires further investigation or examination, we will take steps to do this. That includes actively attempting to speak to those who have contacted us in order to seek further detail and understanding of the situation. If we get no reply to our attempts or receive no further contact, that can limit our ability to progress things, but it does not mean our enquiries stop. If, at any point, new information comes to light or is provided – including via newspapers – this will be acted upon appropriately, in line with internal processes.”

Police yet to get involved

The internal probe by BBC into the matter is underway. In a statement, former Chief Crown Prosecutor Nazir Afzal, who led the prosecution in the Rochdale grooming gang case, said, “The police should have been engaged as soon as they worked out whether the complaint was genuine. Where are we now — the middle of July? Six, seven weeks on. They should have advised the police that this is a matter that they should be investigating, and that should have been done weeks ago. There’s no justification for the police not becoming involved as early as possible.” The police are yet to get involved in a full-fledged probe into the matter.

Won’t travel to India for World Cup if they don’t come here for Asia Cup: Pakistan Sports Minister

On Saturday, July 8, 2023, Ehsaan Mazari, the minister for sports in Pakistan, stated that his country would withdraw from the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup in India if India avoids traveling across the border for the Asia Cup.

Ehsaan Mazari said, “My personal opinion, since the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) comes under my ministry, is that if India demands to play their Asia Cup games at a neutral venue, we would also demand the same for our World Cup games in India.”

He made this statement a day after the formation of a high-profile committee by Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to deliberate on the matter of the country’s participation in the upcoming October-November ODI World Cup hosted by India. Pakistan Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari is leading the committee.

Ehsaan Mazari added, “The committee will be headed by Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and I am among the 11 ministers who are part of it. We will discuss the issue and give our recommendations to the PM, who is also the patron-in-chief of PCB. The PM will take the final decision.”

Mazari, who leads the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination, which oversees sports, mentioned that the committee headed by Bhutto is anticipated to present their report to the Prime Minister sometime next week. This will coincide with Zaka Ashraf, the newly appointed PCB chief, attending a crucial International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting in South Africa. Additionally, Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary and also the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chief, will be present in Durban for the meeting, indicating that discussions regarding the Asia Cup and World Cup are likely to take place.

Although the official schedule for the Asia Cup is yet to be released, reportedly there is a widespread agreement within the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) that Pakistan and Sri Lanka will co-host the event. It is further anticipated that India will exclusively play their matches in Sri Lanka. However, Mazari expressed his disapproval of this proposed hybrid model.

He said, “Pakistan is the host, it has the right to hold all the matches in Pakistan. That is what the cricket lovers want, I don’t want a hybrid model.”

He further added, “India brings sports into politics. I don’t understand why the Indian government doesn’t want to send their cricket team here. Some time back a huge baseball contingent from India was in Islamabad to play. There was also the bridge team that had travelled to Pakistan. There were around 60-plus people, I was the chief guest of the event. They won here and left. Pakistan’s football, hockey, and chess teams also travel to India.”

When questioned about India’s longstanding concerns regarding the security of their cricketers in Pakistan, Mazari dismissed it as an unsubstantiated argument.

He remarked, “The New Zealand team was here, before that the England cricket team was in Pakistan. They got presidential security. Earlier, the Indian team was given a hearty welcome by the fans here. Security is an excuse. We also held the Pakistan Super League (PSL) with so many foreign players.”

Mazari made a plea for the restoration of cricket tours between the two nations. He said, “It is one the most-watched cricket games on TV. We want that, we want healthy cricket to be played. We expect a positive response from India.”

Bilawal Bhutto-led committee is formed to make a decision on Pakistan’s World Cup participation

The Pakistani government has established a high-profile committee led by Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari to deliberate on the country’s involvement in the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, scheduled to commence in India this October.

The committee, formed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, has been tasked with determining whether Pakistan should send its national team to participate in the tournament held in India. The decision was prompted by a request for clearance from the Pakistan Cricket Board, seeking approval for the country’s participation in the World Cup matches hosted by India.

In addition to Bilawal, the committee includes Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Minister of Inter-Provincial Coordination Ehsaan Mazari, heads of national security institutions, and the foreign secretary.

PCB’s concerns regarding the World Cup tour to India

In their pursuit of official clearances to travel to India for the Cricket World Cup, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had written to Prime Minister Sharif and the country’s Interior and Foreign Ministry. The PCB had also inquired about any potential reservations regarding the five designated venues selected for hosting matches involving the Pakistani team.

Furthermore, the PCB had expressed interest in sending a security delegation to evaluate the facilities and arrangements prior to confirming the team’s visit to India for this prominent tournament.

The Asia Cup

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has stated that Indian players will not travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023, scheduled to commence on August 31, due to security concerns raised by the Indian government. Consequently, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has adopted a hybrid model for hosting the matches, with four games planned to take place in Pakistan and the remainder in Sri Lanka.

The Asia Cup 2023 will witness the participation of six teams, namely India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Nepal, competing in a total of 13 One Day International (ODI) matches from August 31 to September 17, 2023.

Notably, India and Pakistan have not engaged in any bilateral cricket series for more than a decade, meeting solely in tournaments organised by the ICC and ACC.

As the term of the Shehbaz Sharif government in Pakistan is slated to conclude in August, any decisions regarding the team’s visit to India are likely to be postponed until the new administration assumes office.

Gujarat ATS arrests one electric worker of BSF for leaking information to Pakistan’s ISI, officers say that he was honey-trapped

On the 8th of July, Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) busted a spying network for ISI. In this connection, the state ATS arrested one accused who was spying for Pakistan. As per officials, the accused was arrested in relation to leaking crucial information pertaining to Border Security Force (BSF) to Pakistani intelligence agencies. The accused has been identified as Nilesh Walia who is said to be a resident of Bhuj, Kutch.

As per Superintendent of Police (ATS) Sunil Joshi, the accused Walia was an electric worker at the BSF’s CPWD office. Reportedly, the accused fell prey to a honey trap and subsequently leaked crucial information to Pakistan in exchange for money.

According to Gujarat ATS officials, they received a tip-off about his activities, afterwards, they kept him under surveillance and analysed his phone records and bank accounts before calling Walia for questioning. They added that significant information came to light from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report on the accused’s mobile phone.

Speaking to the media, Joshi said, “We received information that a resident of Bhuj in Kutuch, Nilesh Walia who works at the electric office of CPWD of BSF. The Gujarat ATS received information that Nilesh Walia was in contact with the PIO (Pakistan Intelligence Operative). He was sending sensitive information to the PIO in exchange for money.”

Joshi stated that the accused Walia came in contact with an online fake profile that was named Aditi. The accused got in contact with the Pakistani agent in January 2023. He then shared several sensitive documents regarding electrification work in the under-construction and existing BSF buildings and also some documents related to civil departments with the handler ‘Aditi’.

Joshi added that the woman contacted the accused through WhatsApp. After honey-trapping him, she convinced Walia to share sensitive information in exchange for money.

As per the information received, the handler identified herself as ‘Aditi Tiwari’ and claimed to be working in a private firm.

The SP said that as part of the “love affair,” the accused told the woman that he was a computer operator. He also shared sensitive information with her while accepting money for it.

According to Joshi, the accused received a total of Rs 28,800 through UPI transactions.

The official remarked that the interrogation is currently underway, and it is anticipated that substantial revelations may arise from this investigation. They will also probe his connections with other individuals with whom he made contact.

However, reports claim that the spying network’s reach extends to Uttar Pradesh (UP), which has prompted the UP ATS to initiate an investigation in the state based on inputs from Gujarat ATS.

Furthermore, the accused, Walia, has been booked under the Official Secrets Act (OSA). He has also been charged under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 121-A (conspiracy to commit offenses punishable under section 121, related to waging war against the Government of India), 123 (concealing with intent to facilitate the design to wage war), and 120-B (criminal conspiracy).

Earlier on the 10th of June, the Gujarat ATS successfully uncovered the Indian module of ISKP and dismantled the terrorist network. Back then, the Gujarat ATS arrested four accused in the case.

New look of Vande Bharat Express train revealed, Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw says its Saffron colour is inspired by the tricolour

A new livery for the Vande Bharat Express train has been revealed by the Railways, with a theme of Saffron and Grey colours. Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw posted photos of the train with the new colour scheme after visiting the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai.

While the coaches of the train have been painted saffron and grey, the front part of the locomotive is saffron and while, while its rear part is painted the same as the coaches. Other design elements, like the Indian Railways logo below the windshield of the locomotive, and the Vande Bharat Express branding on the side are the same as the existing blue and white themed trains.

According to railway officials, the new look train is the 28th rake of the Indian-built semi-high-speed Vande Bharat Express. The new saffron Vande Bharat Express is however not yet operational and is currently stationed at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, where Vande Bharat trains are manufactured.

Railways officials told ANI that a total of 25 rakes of Vande Bharat Express are operational on their designated routes and two rakes are reserved. “While the colour of this 28th rake is being changed on a trial basis,” they said.

Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday inspected the Integral Coach Factory, reviewed safety measures in Southern Railways, and also reviewed improvements in the Vande Bharat Express.

After conducting an inspection, the minister Vaishnaw said that the new colour of the 28th rake of the indigenous train is “inspired by Indian Tricolour”.

He added that a total of 25 improvements have done in the Vande Bharat trains.

“This is a concept of Make In India, (which means) designed in India, by our own engineers, and technicians. So whatever feedback we are receiving from the field units, regarding ACs, toilets, etc., during the operation of Vande Bharat, all those improvements are being used for making changes in the design,” the minister said in a press briefing.

“A new safety feature, ‘anti climbers’, or anti-climbing devices, on which we are working, were also reviewed today. These will be standard features in all the Vande Bharat and other trains,” he added.

On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off two new and upgraded versions of Vande Bharat Express trains– Gorakhpur-Lucknow and Jodhpur-Sabarmati–at Gorakhpur Station in Uttar Pradesh, taking the total operational service across the country to a significant milestone of 50.

The Vande Bharat Express, India’s semi-high-speed train set, now covers all states in the country with electrified tracks. With 50 operational services, the Vande Bharat Express has revolutionized rail travel in India, providing state-of-the-art amenities and reducing travel time for passengers.

The first Vande Bharat Express was flagged off on February 15, 2019, by the Prime Minister, running between New Delhi and Varanasi. Manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai and originally known as Train 18, the train symbolizes the ‘Make-In-India’ initiative and showcases India’s engineering prowess.

The project to manufacture indigenous semi-high-speed train sets began in mid-2017, and within 18 months, the ICF Chennai completed Train-18. It was renamed Vande Bharat Express in January 2019 to emphasize its made-in-India status. The train achieved a maximum speed of 180 kmph on the Kota-Sawai Madhopur section.

Violence in WB Panchayat polls: State BJP President Sukanta Majumdar writes to Home Minister Amit Shah to intervene and restore democracy

On the 8th of July, the Panchayat election 2023 was held in a single-phase voting. Unfortunately, the voting day saw large-scale politically motivated violence, arson, looting, and killings. All throughout the day, there were widespread reports of miscreants damaging, tampering, and stealing ballot boxes. Both the BJP and Congress alleged that TMC-backed goons had unleashed a reign of terror and democracy was being stifled in the state.

Now, the BJP state President Dr. Sukanta Majumdar has written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah to intervene in the current situation. In the letter, the BJP leader also asked Home Minister to restore democracy in the state.

In his letter, he said that democracy in West Bengal has been strangulated to death and free and fair elections are beyond imagination. Targeting the TMC and Police authorities, he said, “The whole state witnessed unimaginable wrath of the ruling party where the security forces played the role of an audience.”

He added that though the entire state witnessed incidences of violence, the maximum number of cases occurred in around 12-13 districts. As per the BJP leader, around 15 political killings were reported on the polling day alone.

He alleged, “Booth capturing, rigging, fake voting, were seen across all the districts. BJP karyakartas and candidates faced life threats, assault, loot, and vandalism. TMC goons were proactive in snatching the Voter/Aadhar Cards of the common voters. Several karyakartas faced false cases and others were hospitalized.”

Majumdar stated that multiple incidents of throwing/damaging ballot boxes were witnessed throughout the state. Similarly, violence occurred both inside and outside the booths resulting in deaths/injuries.

He accused the administration of publicly violating the orders of the Hon’ble (Calcutta) High Court. The BJP state President also stated that the State Election Commission gave no clarification on the deployment of CAPF.

Demanding the central government to intervene, he said, “Therefore, I strongly demand the intervention of the Central Government so that democracy is restored in West Bengal at the earliest.”

Looting not voting claims BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari

Earlier, there were many several videos in which miscreants were seen brandishing guns or running away with ballot boxes. Further, there were reports of booth workers allegedly killed on the doorsteps of the polling centre.

Earlier in the day, West Bengal Leader of Opposition and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari accused the TMC and local Police of collusion which he claims resulted in the killings of political workers.

He said, “This is not an election, this is death. There is a fire of violence across the state. Central forces have not been deployed. CCTVs are not operating. This is not voting but loot. This is the collusion of TMC goons and Police and that is why so murders are happening.”

A Delhi Court on Thursday acquitted six persons accused of rioting, vandalism, and destroying property during the Delhi riots of February 2020 in the Gokul Puri area, giving them the benefit of the doubt.

The court noted the discrepancy in the statement of witnesses and the identity of the accused could not have been established. Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Pulastya Pramachala acquitted accused Dinesh Yadav alias Michael, Sahil alias Babu, Sandeep alias Mogli and Tinku from the charges leveled against them.

“I find that charges leveled against the accused persons, in this case, are not proved beyond reasonable doubt. Hence, all the accused persons are acquitted of all the charges leveled against them in this case”, said Judge Pramachala.

The court also noted that the identification of the accused persons as part of a riotous mob was not established.

“I find that prosecution has failed to prove beyond reasonable doubts that accused persons herein were part of the mob, which was responsible behind both the incidents probed in this case”, said the judge.

The accused persons were charge-sheeted by the police for having committed offenses punishable under Section 147(rioting) /148 (Rioting with deadly weapons), 149 (unlawful assembly), 188 (Violation of order issued by public servant), 380 (Theft), 436 (Damaging Property by fire) of the Indian Penal Code, on the basis of two complaints made by complainants Shahid and Razuddin regarding incidents of riot carried out by the riotous mob in their shop/house situated in Bhagirathi Vihar, Gokul Puri.

It was the case of the Prosecution that on March 4, 2020, the present FIR was registered at the Gokalpuri Police Station, on a written complaint of March 2, 2020, from Shahid.

He alleged that on the intervening night of February 24/25 2020 between 3-4 AM, a riotous mob after committing criminal trespass in his rented shop in Bhagirathi Vihar, had looted various articles lying therein including steel glass fitting tools, cash, and other necessary documents.

During the investigation, after obtaining permission from a senior officer, the Investigating Officer interrogated and formally arrested accused Sahil alias Babu who was in custody in another case.

Razuddin had alleged that on March 24, 2020, at about 9 O’clock, a riotous mob after breaking open his in Gali No.13, Nala Road, Bhagirathi Vihar, looted various articles lying therein.

Thereafter, they put the same on fire, as a result of which he suffered a financial loss to the tune of around Rs 2.5 lakh. The complaint was clubbed with that of Shahid.

On August 26, 2021, charges were framed against accused Dinesh Yadav alias Michael, Sahil alias Babu, Sandeep alias Mogli and Tinku for offenses punishable under Section 143/147/148 IPC read with Section 149 and 188 IPC as well as for offenses punishable under Section 380/436/454 IPC read with Section 149 IPC, to which they claimed trial.

In an apparent jibe at Rahul Gandhi’s “Mohabbat ki Dukan” campaign, Prime Minister Modi said that the Congress is nothing but a shop for looting and a market of lies. In a scathing attack on Gehlot Government, PM Modi, while addressing a public rally in Rajasthan’s Bikaner said, “Congress ka matlab hai loot ki dukan, jhooth ka bazaar’…Farmers of Rajasthan have suffered the most due to the Congress government…Ever since the Congress government came to power in Rajasthan, what did they do? For four years, the entire Congress party and the government have been fighting among themselves. Everyone is pulling each other’s legs.”

PM Modi said that the centre sends schemes from Delhi to Rajasthan but in Jaipur the Congress claws at them.

“We send schemes from Delhi to Rajasthan but in Jaipur the Congress claws at them. Congress has nothing to do with Rajasthan’s problems and your problems,” PM Modi slammed Congress.

“The Congress government is also troubled by the BJP’s plan to provide benefits to every household. Congress has only done harm to the state in the past years,” the PM added.

Accepting the welcome given by the people of Bikaner, PM Modi said, “The enthusiasm of the people is telling that not only the temperature of the weather has risen in Rajasthan, but the temper of the people has also risen against the Congress government.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched several development projects worth Rs 24,000 crores in Rajasthan including the newly developed 500 kilometre section of Amritsar-Jamnagar expressway in Rajasthan’s Bikaner.

In his earlier address today, Prime Minister Modi also said that the border areas and villages of Rajasthan were deprived of development for decades and for their development. The newly launched section of the Amritsar-Jamnagar expressway will also contribute to increasing the connectivity of these villages to the rest of the country.

Goons brandishing guns, crude bombs, people running away with ballot boxes: visuals from West Bengal during voting for Panchayat polls

In the morning hours of the 8th of July 2023, polling for Panchayat elections started in West Bengal amid heavy security from Central Reserve Police Forces (CRPF). The elections have witnessed large-scale violence, with several cases of murders, booth capturing, and various other kinds of violence.

While some reports have claimed that the death count has crossed 36, there are reports of countless incidences of violence, arson, armed men threatening the general voters, and miscreants stealing away ballot boxes.

BJP’s Bengal unit has shared a video in which some goons can be seen brandishing guns and pelting stones. Along with the purported video, the main opposition party has claimed that around 36 people have lost their lives in the ongoing Panchayat elections in the state.

In a video shared by BJP’s Bengal Unit and there are some additional videos doing round on social media, where some miscreants can be seen running away with purported ballot boxes.

Some residents of Dhamsa in Hooghly allegedly threw two ballot boxes in a pond after a scuffle broke out between TMC and BJP workers at a polling booth. Additionally, the residents allege that Central forces were not deployed at the polling centre.

Similar instances of destruction or tampering with ballot boxes were reported in several parts of the state. As per ANI, voting was suspended at the Indreshwar primary school in Dinhata after some miscreants pour water into the ballot box here.

In areas of the Cooch Behar district, a few Ballot boxes at a polling booth in Baranachina of Dinhata were set on fire allegedly by voters who were angry with bogus voting that was reportedly going on there.

In a few other videos, some miscreants have been seen allegedly hurling crude bombs.

BJP State President Dr. Sukanta Majumdar has shared a video in which Police officials are recovering a ballot box from a drain in North 24 Pargana district.

As per ANI, incidences of stone pelting and hurling of crude bombs were reported at booth numbers 25 and 26 in the Nagharia area of English Bazar in Malda district.

West Bengal Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary accused the TMC of unleashing a rain of terror.

He said, “The ruling party’s incoherence with the police administrations…has unleashed a rain of terror in an unprecedented way, which has taken a toll on 26 people, and hundreds of people are fatally injured have been admitted to the hospital already. The political and electoral environment in Bengal has been of violence. It is a travesty of panchayat elections and virtually it is an example of electoral depredations.”

West Bengal LoP and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari said, “This is not an election, this is death. There is a fire of violence across the state. Central forces have not been deployed. CCTVs are not operating. This is not voting but loot. This is the collusion of TMC goons and Police and that is why so murders are happening.”

The leader of the Opposition further claimed that the governor made the biggest mistake by appointing Rajiva Sinja. He also urged the Central government to intervene either with Article 355 or 356.

Earlier in the day, Bengal BJP President Majumdar shared a video on Twitter alleging that TMC goons are openly looting ballots at booth No. 44 and 45 in Kholakhali.

There are many more videos reflecting the sorry state of affairs in West Bengal but these videos of politically motivated violence are too disturbing and heart-wrenching to be shared.

Maharashtra: Viral video shows Muslims offering namaz at Panvel railway station, MNS demands permission to perform Maha Aarti but denied

On July 7, Friday, a video went viral in which some Muslims were seen offering namaz at the railway station. The incident that caused a massive stir, prompting railway authorities to assure an investigation into the same, occurred at Panvel railway station in Navi Mumbai in Maharashtra.

After the video went viral, leaders of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) stated that they would perform a Maha Aarti on the platform where the namaz was offered. However, the railway authorities did not grant permission for this.

A video showing namaz being offered by some Muslims at Panvel railway station in Navi Mumbai was going viral on Twitter. It showed 4 to 5 people praying on a platform at the Panvel railway station. This video of Panvel railway station was recorded by a passenger using a mobile camera and it immediately went viral.

The video mentioned that in a few days, there would erect a Mazar at this place. Questions were raised regarding the identity of the people performing namaz there, why they were praying at the station and what was the purpose of praying on the platform. The railway authorities acknowledged that the video was from Panvel station but denied making any statements until the investigation is conducted.

After the incident of offering namaz at Panvel station in Navi Mumbai, local MNS (Maharashtra Navnirman Sena) leader Yogesh Chile became confrontational. He announced his intention to conduct a Maha Aarti on the platform.

Yogesh Chile said in his video appeal, “India is a secular country. All religions are treated equally. If Muslims are allowed to perform namaz on the platform, Hindus must also be allowed to perform Maha Aarti. I appeal to all the Hindus in Panvel to join the Maha Aarti at the Panvel railway station platform at 7 in the evening on 7th July 2023.”

However, the railway authorities denied him permission. Following this, several MNS members met with railway officials to request permission for the Maha Aarti. Despite their efforts, the railway authorities remained firm in their refusal.

Replying to Yogesh Chile, the Railway police force Mumbai division tweeted, “Jai hind sir On 05.07.2023, a group of 5 persons came to Panvel station in a local train at 08.36 PM. They had come to Panvel station to board Train No 22150 (Pune Ernakulam Express), which came to the station at 03.17 AM the next day. While they were waiting for their train at the Panvel station, they started offering Namaz at 09.12 PM near Deluxe Pay and using the bathroom in the station area. They were then seen waiting in the station area and further boarding Train No 22150 peacefully.”

Incidents, where Muslims are seen offering Namaz in public places, are quite common. Last year, the Delhi Police arrested a person named Mohammed Tariq Aziz for disrespecting the Indian national flag at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. Aziz, a resident of Assam, had spread the tricolour on the floor of the airport and offered Namaz by standing on it.

Similarly, in October last year, a video of men offering namaz being performed onboard a train went viral on social media. The viral video was reportedly from Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh.
