Jharkhand actress and YouTuber Riya Kumari shot dead in Bengal during a robbery attempt, police suspect foul play

0

On Wednesday, December 28, an actress named Riya Kumari was shot dead during a highway robbery attempt in West Bengal’s Howrah district.

Riya Kumari, an actress and YouTuber from Jharkhand famous by her stage name Isha Alya, was on her way to Kolkata from Ranchi along with her husband Prakash Kumar, and her three-year-old daughter. They were travelling to Kolkata via National Highway 16 in a car.

It was around 6 AM when Riya Kumari’s husband and film producer Prakash Kumar stopped his car near Mahishrekha, which comes under the Bagnan police station area, to relieve himself. Soon three people attacked Prakash and attempted to snatch his wallet, however, Riya Kumari stepped out of the car to help her husband. However, one of the robbers opened fire and shot Riya, and fled the spot.

As per the statement given by Prakash Kumar, after Riya was shot, he drove the car for three kilometres looking for help. He noticed some people along the highway in Kulgachia-Pirtala after which the locals assisted Kumar to take his wife to the SCC Medical College and Hospital in Uluberia where the doctors declared her brought dead.

According to Kumar, the attackers spoke in the Bengali language, which they could not understand. Reportedly, Prakash while speaking to the media did not rule out the personal enmity angle. However, he said that he had no idea why would they be attacked and assumed that the killers of his wife were tourists like him.

Briefing on the incident, police said that the car has been sent for forensic examination. Police are questioning Prakash Kumar. The daughter of the deceased victim will be questioned later. Police will question locals who helped Prakash take Riya to the hospital.

It is pertinent to note that police have reportedly sensed foul play after recording Prakash Kumar’s statement.

Police noticed that Prakash’s statement has too many coincidence factors that raise doubts.

The question that the investigating officers are concerned about is how the perpetrators learned that Kumar will stop the car. Second, why did Prakash not realize they were being followed? Additionally, the place where Prakash stopped the car was not a parking spot.

Officers suspect foul play as a result. Further, a state official stated that the investigators are attempting to determine whether CCTVs were installed anywhere in the vicinity.

Reports suggest that the outage was not limited to just the desktop version, but some Android users also faced similar problems. Notably, in the last few weeks, several Twitter users have reported that they were logged out from all platforms and could not log in as Twitter 2-Factor-Verification (2FA) method was unable to send code on linked mobile numbers.

Many Twitter users had to communicate with Twitter for days to regain the access.

56 locations related to PFI raided in Kerala, details

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday carried out searches at 56 locations in Kerala in the Popular Front of India (PFI) conspiracy case, sources said.

The searches are still going on at the premises and offices of several suspects having links with cadres of PFI, an organisation banned by the Ministry of Home Affairs in September this year with its associates, and affiliates for a period of five years under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 by declaring it as an unlawful association. The raids started early on Thursday in coordination with state police following specific inputs against PFI cadres who are accused of their involvement in several terrorist acts and the murder of several persons, including Sanjith (Kerala, November 2021), V-Ramalingam (Tamil Nadu, 2019), Nandu (Kerala, 2021), Abhimanyu (Kerala, 2018), Bibin (Kerala, 2017), Sharath (Kamataka, 2017), R.Rudresh (Kamataka, 2016), Praveen Puyari (Karnataka, 2016), and Sasi Kumar (Tamil Nadu, 2016).

The MHA had earlier said that the criminal activities and brutal murders have been carried out by the PFI cadres for the sole objective of “disturbing public peace and tranquillity and creating a reign of terror in the public mind”.

The MHA has also mentioned “international linkages of PFI with Global Terrorist Groups”, and that some activists of the outfit have joined the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and participated in terror activities in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan.

Some of these PFI cadres linked to ISIS have been killed in these conflict theatres and some have been arrested by State Police and Central Agencies also the PFI has linkages with Jamat-ul-Muyahideen Bangladesh (JMB), a proscribed terrorist organization”.

The NIA had carried out searches at more than 150 locations across the country against PFI cadres so far this year.

Iranian Chess player competes at tournament without hijab

0

Iranian Chess player Sara Khadem, also known as Sarasadat Khademalsharieh, recently took part in a tournament without wearing a hijab, CNN reported on Wednesday citing Iranian news agency Jamaran.

Since the start of anti-government protests in September, Khadem is the most recent athlete to compete without a hijab. The protests in Iran were triggered by the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini after she was detained by the police force.

According to reports in the local media, Khadem was photographed competing in the FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships in Almaty, Kazakhstan, without wearing the headscarf, which is required by Iranian law.

According to the International Chess Federation, the chess player was born in 1997 and is currently ranked number 10 in Iran among active players worldwide (804th overall), as per CNN.

Iranian climber Elnaz Rekabi competed in South Korea earlier in October without wearing the required hijab, later explaining that it had fallen off inadvertently. It’s not clear, though, whether Rekabi was coerced into saying what she did.

According to CNN, Iran’s deputy sports minister Maryam Kazemipour, in a statement said earlier that athletes who violated Islamic principles afterwards “regretted” their behaviour and “are searching for a chance to make up for their error.”

According to Amnesty International, as of November, Iranian authorities are seeking the death penalty for at least 21 people in connection with the protests.

Last year, in Iran, at least 333 people were executed, according to the Iran Human Rights. The report further revealed that 55 executions, which contribute 16.5 per cent, were announced by official sources.

As many as 83.5 per cent of all executions included in the 2021 report (278 executions in total) were not announced by the authorities. At least 183 executions (55 per cent of all executions) were for murder charges, according to the report.

Iran has suspended its so-called morality police, which penalised women for not adhering to a stringent dress code, the Iranian prosecutor general said after the anti-hijab protest continued into the third month, triggered by the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini after she was detained by the police force.

Iran’s Attorney General Mohammad Javad Montazeri said the morality police “was abolished by the same authorities who installed it”, The New York Times reported.

Notably, Amini was arrested in Tehran on September 13 for dressing “inappropriately.” Three days later, she died while in custody. It sparked demonstrations and clashes with security forces where many people lost their lives.

Greta Thunberg mocks Andrew Tate with a ‘small d**k energy’ jibe after the kickboxer tweets about emissions from his cars

Swedish environment activist Greta Thunberg mocked Andrew Tate on 20th December 2022, when the kickboxer included her in a tweet boasting about the significant emissions produced by his huge automobile collection. Greta Thunberg took the ‘small d*ck energy’ jibe at Andrew Tate in response to his tweet.

Andrew Tate tweeted, “Hello, Greta Thunberg, I have 33 cars. My Bugatti has a w16 8.0L quad-turbo. My TWO Ferrari 812 competizione have 6.5L v12s. This is just the start. Please provide your email address so I can send a complete list of my car collection and their respective enormous emissions.”

Andrew Tate also shared a video in a subsequent tweet in which the kickboxer is seen driving his vehicles while Greta Thunberg’s speech is inserted in between the car-driving visuals. Greta Thunberg, in this video, is seen slamming people for the emission of harmful gases from automobiles, factories, etc. that cause damage to the environment. The speech by the young autistic environment activist had gone viral four years ago.

In response to Andrew Tate, Greta Thunberg replied, “yes, please do enlighten me. email me at smalld*[email protected].”

Greta made it to the news after she protested outside the Swedish parliament in 2018 when she was 15. She held a sign saying “School Strike for Climate”, to pressure the government to meet carbon emissions targets. In 2021, Greta Thunberg’s name appeared in the toolkit conspiracy when many secular-liberal activists around the world including Thunberg had tweeted simultaneously in support of the so-called farmers’ agitation in Delhi against the three new farm laws brought in by the Modi government.

After tweeting in support, Thunberg inadvertently revealed the sinister global campaign against India after she shared a ‘Toolkit’ for those who want to support the ongoing ‘farmer protests’ in the country. While the ‘Toolkit’ was deleted shortly after and a sanitized version was tweeted again later by Greta, the cat was already out of the bag. Now, Greta Thunberg has descended to a newer low as she refuted Andrew Tate with her ‘small d*ck energy’ remark.

Media, AAP and others mock UP cop for ‘not knowing how to load a gun’, police clarify it was the correct procedure for the anti-riot rifle

On Wednesday, the Sant Kabir Nagar Police Station in Uttar Pradesh issued a statement regarding a video of one of its policemen that went viral over the internet portraying him as someone who wasn’t even able to load a rifle. The Police station condemned media reports saying that the cop failed to load the gun properly, and said that the rifle being used during the inspection was an anti-riot gun which demanded the user to insert the plastic pellet from the front of the barrel of the gun.

On Tuesday, a video went viral on social media in which a police officer was seen instructing another cop on how to operate a gun. The video showed DIG RK Bharadwaj examining an SI as he asked him to load a rifle during a surprise check at a police station in Sant Kabir Nagar.

In the video, the SI is seen inserting a pellet into the barrel of the gun through the muzzle and explains that this is the process to fire in such a way that no one gets injured. After this, the DIG asks him not to fire and asks him to unload the gun, the SI tilts the barrel down and the bullet comes out.

NDTV, now owned by the Adani Group, mocked the police officer, suggesting that he does not know how to load a rifle. The report claimed that the cop treated the gun like a cannon from a couple of centuries ago because he tried to put the bullet through the ‘hose’. Calling the situation bizarre, NDTV claimed that the DIG and other officers held their laughter back.

“UP Cop Fails To Load Rifle During Surprise Inspection, Video Goes Viral”, reported India TV. The report claimed that the video has caused embarrassment for Uttar Pradesh Police because the police officer didn’t know how to load a gun. Hindustan Times also made the same claim in a report titled “U.P cop fails to load a gun but triggers a laughter riot; Comical surprise inspection goes viral”. The media house claimed that the “epic failure of a sub-inspector at an Uttar Pradesh police station has shocked not only his superiors, but also the internet”.

Uttar Pradesh Aam Aadmi Party posted the video mocking the state police officer for allegedly not knowing how to even load a gun. The party also tagged UP CM Yogi Adityanath writing sarcastically that criminals are fearing such cops.

“Kudos to Uttar Pradesh Police! In Sant Kabir Nagar, SI sir started firing by putting a bullet in the barrel of the gun, when the UP police does not even know where the bullet is put in. CM Yogi Adityanath, criminals are trembling because of such policemen only,” the AAP said.

However, the Uttar Pradesh Police has issued a statement saying that, in fact, the police officer loaded the gun correctly, as it is a special anti-riot rifle used to fire plastic pellets and not a regular rifle. The Sant Kabir Nagar Police Station issued a statement explaining the working of the rifle, which is modified from the .303 rifle by cutting short the barrel. The police also condemned the media reports and others for mocking the police officer by wrongly claiming that he didn’t know how to load the rifle.

“Annual inspection was conducted by the UP Police on December 27. DIG RK Bharadwaj was conducting the inspection when one of the officers demonstrated the usage of an anti-riot gun. The specific gun needs to be loaded from both the chamber and the muzzle of the gun. At the time of inspection, the officer was showcasing how it could be done which is clear in the attached video. His video was wrongly made viral portraying that he could not even load a gun. The Sant Kabir Nagar Police Station strongly condemns the incident,” the Police Station said in its statement.

The Police Station also posted a video of one of its other officers who demonstrated the process of loading the anti-riot gun which is based on the .303 rifle. The officer while demonstrating the rifle says that it is an anti-riot rifle which has been made from the .303 rifle by cutting short the barrel.

Explaining the operating procedure of the rifle, he says that the rifle requires a blank .303 cartridge, and it needs to be loaded directly into the chamber. He explains that as it is a blank cartridge and it does not have the bullet inside it, a magazine can’t be used because the cartridge will not be released from the magazine, and therefore the cartridge needs to be put directly into the cartridge. After that, he cocks the rifle and then inserts a plastic pellet through the muzzle or the front opening of the barrel. The weapon is ready for fire, the demonstrator adds.

Therefore, the clarification by the Sant Kabir Nagar Police Station and the demonstration video of the anti-riot rifle used to fire plastic pellets make it clear that the police officer correctly loaded the gun, and media houses and others including AAP wrongly accused him of not knowing how to load a rifle. The viral video also makes it clear that it is an anti-riot rifle as it has a very short barrel, and looks exactly the same as the rifle displayed in the demonstration video.

Moreover, while the media claimed that other officers suppressed their laughter after seeing the ‘epic failure’ of the cop, which is misleading and baseless. There is no sign in the video that other cops were trying to suppress their laughter seeing the SI losing the gun. While on cop can be mildly smiling, it can be for any reason and it can’t be linked it to the loading of the gun. The claim that other officers knew the SI was wrong is pure imagination of media, and there is no evidence of the same in the video, as all the officers are seen maintaining normal posture while the DIG tests the SI and explains the working of the anti-riot rifle.

‘India ready to bid for hosting Olympic games in 2036’: Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur

0

On Tuesday, December 27, Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur said that India is planning to bid for hosting the summer Olympic Games in 2036.

Thakur stated that the government will offer a roadmap to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) members during the IOC session in Mumbai in September 2023. He added that a roadmap will be prepared with consultation from Indian Olympic Association (IOA), and the same will be presented during the IOC session.

In an interview with Times of India, the Sports Minister said that India has hosted Asian Games in 1982 and Commonwealth Games in 2010. The next logical pitstop would be hosting the summer Olympics scheduled in 2036. He added that the slots are full till 2032 but will be open for 2036.

“If India can host the G20 Presidency in such a big manner, I am sure the Indian government will be able to pitch in to host the Olympics in the country along with the IOA. We are all aware that the spots are reserved through 2032. But from 2036 onwards, we have hopes and I am sure India will adequately prepare and bid for the Olympics,” Thakur told TOI.

“The time is ideal to host the Olympic Games.  Why not sports if India is making headlines in every sector, from manufacturing to services? India is seriously considering making an Olympic bid for 2036,” Thakur asserted.

It is notable that the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in its manifesto for the recently concluded Gujarat assembly elections has promised to campaign for hosting the 2036 summer Olympics in Ahmedabad.

Speaking about the same, Minister Thakur said, “Gujarat has already shown interest in hosting the Olympics. They have the necessary facilities, including hotels, hostels, airports, and sports facilities. They take the offer seriously. The state government’s platform also calls for Gujarat to host the Olympics.”

Elon Musk takes a dig at leftist media outlets for glossing over Twitter Files

On Wednesday (December 28), Elon Musk took potshots at leftist media outlets for ignoring the explosive revelations of the ‘Twitter Files.

So far, the new Twitter owner had released 10 tranches of internal communications between ex-employees and exposed the censorship practices that were prevalent on the social media platform (prior to his takeover).

While taking a dig at leftist media outlets for failing to report the matter with due diligence, he posted a picture of ‘The Tonight Show’ host Jimmy Fallon ‘ignoring’ a dancer standing in front of him.

Interestingly, the female dancer’s body was captioned with the words ‘Twitter Files’ while Jimmy Fallon’s chest was adorned with a collage of leftist news outlets such as CNN, BBC, The New York Times, The Guardian, DW, MSNBC, NBC and The Washington Post.

Earlier, the ‘Twitter Files 7.0’ exposed how the FBI paid a whopping $3.4 million to Twitter between October 2019 and February 2021 and coerced top Twitter executives into gutting the ‘Hunter Biden story‘ of the New York Post (NYP).

The ‘Twitter Files 3.0’ revealed that the senior executives of Twitter Inc. were in constant touch with federal agencies ahead of the 2020 US Presidential elections. It revealed how the Federal Bureau of Investigation routinely sent tweets, posted by Republican candidates, to the moderation team for expunction.

Jimmy Fallon mocked Elon Musk over his Twitter operations

The development comes days after Jimmy Fallon mocked Elon Musk on his show for banning accounts of individuals, who doxxed the new Twitter owner and endangered the life of his 2-year-old son.

At about 1 minute into the programme, Jimmy Fallon tried to pass off real-time doxxing as ‘harmless stalking’ on social media. “Elon said the journalists were using social media to keep track of what he’s doing — or also known as social media,” the late-night show host remarked.

“I have a feeling that right after Christmas we’re going to see Elon Musk in line trying to return Twitter,” he further mocked.

Earlier on December 13 this year, Jimmy Fallon ridiculed Tesla after Musk claimed that his pronouns were ‘Prosecute/Fauci.’ The late-night show host, whose audience approves of gender identity politics, responded, “Fauci was like – Yep, much like a Tesla battery, Elon’s on fire.”

“You could tell Fauci wasn’t having it because he wrote back – Congrats on making Twitter the Johnson & Johnson vaccine of social media,” he remarked.

It must be mentioned that Fauci is the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases in the US and came under the scanner during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Telangana: Shahbaz throws newborn daughter in thorn bushes after his live-in partner Divya dies, arrested

In a shocking incident, a man in Telangana threw away his 2-day-old daughter into the bushes after the mother of the infant died. After the newborn was found alive, the man named Mohammad Shahbaz, who works at a Tech giant in Hyderabad, has been arrested by the Telangana police.

The accused belongs to Machilipatnam, district Krishna, who had thrown away his 2-day-old daughter into thorn bushes in Ibrahimpatnam, district NTR. As per reports, Shahbaz lived with a woman identified as Divya from Gudivada for a few years in Hyderabad.

Reportedly, both Mohammad Shahbaz and G Divya worked at a private health insurance company in Hyderabad and fell in love. As their parents didn’t agree to their marriage, they started living together in 2020. Subsequently, Divya became pregnant and gave birth to the girl on Friday night, December 23, in the ESI hospital in SR Nagar of Hyderabad.

Soon after the child was born, Divya had a seizure and severe stomach cramps, and she was rushed to Osmania General Hospital. However, she died during the treatment on the same night as she was having frequent seizures.

After this, Shahbaz took her dead body and the newborn to his native village in an ambulance on Sunday night. But on the way, when the driver stopped the ambulance at Donabanda in Ibrahimpatnam to take some rest and took a nap, Shahbaz left the newborn child in the thorn bushes in the area. After that, the ambulance left the place for Gudivada.

A local woman in Donabanda who was washing utensils nearby heard a faint cry from the child. Upon inspection, she found the girl in a pool of blood in the bushes. She handed over the girl to an Asha worker, who informed the villagers and the police about the incident. Accordingly, police registered a case, and the child was handed over to an NGO named Share and Care in Gannavaram.

On Monday, police kept a watch on the vehicles on the national highway, and spotted the ambulance returning from Gudivada to Hyderabad. The ambulance was seized at Ibrahimpatnam Ring Center, and the driver was taken into custody. Based on the information given by the driver, police located Shahbaz and arrested him on Tuesday.

Ibrahimpatnam circle inspector Sridhar said that the locals found the baby abandoned in the bush and informed the police. The police officer said that the child’s mother Divya died at Osmania Hospital in Hyderabad on December 23, and then the father Mohammad Shahbaz allegedly left the child to die in the bush. However, he was later apprehended.

“Shahbaz left the baby in the thorny bushes at Ibrahimpatnam Mandal Donabanda, while taking Divya to the hospital in an ambulance. Locals noticed the infant out in the open and informed the police,” the circle inspector further added.

“As soon as we were informed by some locals, we rescued the child. Divya and Mohamad Shahbaz had been living together in Hyderabad. Divya gave birth to a girl before her losing her life. We caught Shahbaz with the help of locals and an investigation is underway. We hope to have him in our custody soon,” circle inspector Sridhar added.
