‘Hand skeleton spells out Allah’: Bangladeshi professor publishes research paper claiming parts of human skeleton represent Islamic phrases

0

On October 26, a portion of a research paper titled Structure Of Human Skeleton Exhibits The Mysterious Love Of Allah (SWT) To Prophet Muhammad (SAW) went viral on social media where the author of the paper claimed that different parts of the skeleton represent holy Islamic words or phrases. For example, author Mohammad Abul Hossain of the University of Dhaka claimed that the skeleton of the human hand forms the Arabic word ‘Allah’.

Claims made in the research paper

OpIndia accessed the complete research paper available on the reputed scholar website researchgate. The DOI number of the paper is 10.20859/jar.v5i1.191, and it was published in June 2018 in Ar Raniry, International Journal of Islamic Studies. Dr Mohammad Abul Hossain is a professor in the Department of Chemistry, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh.

The author said in the abstract of the paper that it represents a “scientific explanation of a very important verse (Ayat) 95:4 in the Quran that says “Verily, We created man in the best statue (mould)”.

The author claimed, “In response to the “best statue”, a mysterious observation is proposed by correlating the four oaths of Allah (Sobhan wa tawla: SWT) which imposed before starting this verse, with the help of physical structure of oath materials, knowledge of medical science and other verses in the holy Qur’an. That is – the statue of human body (Adam) represents the combined structure of the Arabic words Muhammad (Peace be upon him: PBUH) and Allah (SWT), which made his (Adam) superior to all others. Thus humans became the topmost creature in the whole Universe, and his body structure was created in the best statue, mentioned in the verse of the holy Qur’an. Actually, the creation of such structure of the human body is the outlooks of the infinite love of Allah (SWT) to His Prophet Muhammad (SAW).”

Furthermore, he claimed that as there was a lack of modern scientific tools like electron microscope and other “high technical instruments” in the 7th century, it was difficult for common people, except for the Prophet Muhammad, to understand the meaning of several verses of Quran, that he has mentioned in the paper. He said, “It is true that people knew the verbal meaning of the words but could not understand the hidden meaning, which was possible only after the discovery of the Electron microscope and other high technical instruments used in modern laboratories.”

According to the author, Fig, Olive, The Mount Sinai and ‘This City Secured’ (probably Macca) mentioned in some of the verses refer to locations, and their shape can be represented in different parts of the human skeleton. He claimed Fig refers to Mount Judi, where the legendary arc of Prophet Juh landed. Please note that Christianity has a similar story about Noha’s Arc. Olive, according to him, referred to Palestine, where Jesus was born and Olives grew. He gave similar references to locations etc.

He claimed that Olive’s spherical shape could be compared to the shape of the human head representing the Arabic letter Mim.

Furthermore, he claimed the shape of Mount Sinai is similar to the rib cage of a human being, and it has the shape of Arabic letter Ha. He noted, “Concave with plane land shaped Mount Sinai is similar to the shape of a left side view of human’s rib case which is the representative of the shape of Arabic letter Ha.”

He compared the shape of the fruiting fig to the Arabic letter Mim and claimed it looks like the pelvis of a human skeleton.

Finally, he compared the geological structure of the position of the holy Kabba on the earth’s surface to the shape of the Arabic letter Dal which was further compared to human leg bones.

When he combined all four letters, it made “Dal Mim Ha Mim” or Mohammad in Arabic.

The author did not stop here. He further claimed that the skeleton of the human hand is shaped like the Arabic word Allah. He said, “The shape of the 5th finger (Little finger) is like the Arabic letter Alif, the 4th finger (Ring finger) is like the Arabic letter Lam, the 3rd finger (Middle finger) is like the Arabic letter Lam and the 2nd finger (Index finger) along with 1st finger (Thumb) are like the Arabic letter Haa.”

‘Everything is made of light’ claimed another paper by the author

This was not the first time Mohammad Abul Hossain gave an “innovative” way to link science to the Quran. In 2013, he published another paper titled “Everything of the Universe is Made of Light: Theory for Everything”, where he used “ALLAHU NURUS SAMAWATE WOAL ARTH” “(Earth and Sky is the light of Allah) in the Holy Qur’an (Sura: An-Nur, Ayah: 35) and connected it to theories given by Einstein et al. to prove what scientists were discovering in today’s time was already mentioned in Quran.

He theorized the cycle of light in the Universe. The paper read, “The sun is the well-known source of light. Plants produce mass particles from the photon of light through the photosynthesis process. Mass particles convert into radiation and/or electricity by nuclear reaction. The  electricity transfers  through the metal  wire and converts into photons by the fugue filament of the electric bulb.”

Source: Researchgate/Everything of the Universe is Made of Light: Theory for Everything

He concluded, “from the above evidence of the special theory of relativity, quantization of energy and photon like dual nature of atomic particles like electrons, protons and neutrons, it is clear that everything of the Universe is made by bundle of light or photons. This is the output of modern science, which was pointed out in the Holy Qur’an “ALLAHU  NURUS  SAMAWATE WOAL ARTH” (Sura:  An-Nur, Ayah: 35) about  1400  years ago. Again,  Prophet Muhammad  (SAW: peace  be upon  him) said, “I  am  from the  light  of Allah  (SWT), and everything  has  been created  from  my light” (Hadith-e-Qurchi).”

It is unclear why a Chemistry professor wrote papers on “Biology” and “Physics”.

India’s oil imports from the Middle East drop to a 19-month low, Russia becomes 2nd largest supplier again: Reports

India’s oil imports from the Middle East dropped to a 19-month low in September, while Russian imports surged, despite refining outages reducing overall crude imports, according to trade and shipping data.

According to the reports, Iraq remained the biggest supplier, while Russia surpassed Saudi Arabia as the second largest after a month gap.

India’s total oil imports in September slumped to a 14-month low of 3.91 million barrels per day (bpd), down 5.6% from the previous year, due to maintenance at refineries such as Reliance Industries and Indian Oil Corp.

According to the data, India’s imports from the Middle East fell 16.2% to about 2.2 million bpd in August, while imports from Russia increased 4.6% to about 896,000 bpd after falling in the previous two months.

Russia’s share of India’s oil imports ramped up to an all-time high of 23% from 19% the previous month, while the Middle East’s share tumbled to 56.4% from 59%.

Oil from the Caspian Sea, mainly imported from countries like Kazakhstan, Russia, and Azerbaijan has increased from 24.6% to 28%.

Amid sanctions by USA and EU, Russia has been offerinv its oil at a discounted price. India, a major oil buyer, has been taking advantage of cheaper Russian oil. After China, India has emerged as Russia’s second-largest oil buyer, taking the edge of discounted prices as some Western entities mitigate purchases due to the ongoing Ukraine-Russia war.

Imports from Saudi Arabia slipped to a three-month low of about 758,000 bpd, down 12.3% from August, while imports from Iraq fell to a year low of 948,400 bpd. Imports from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) fell to a 16-month low of approximately 262,000 bpd.

Ever since the war broke out between Russia and Ukraine, the US and European Union has imposed numerous sanctions on Russia and has even tried to persuade India not to buy oil from Russia, not even at discounted rates. However, India stood its ground by upholding its trade ties with Russia. India also has time and again urged both Ukraine and Russia to resolve issues through dialogue and diplomacy.

C-295 Aircraft for IAF will be made by Airbus-Tata joint venture in Gujarat’s Vadodara, PM Modi to lay foundation stone of plant on Sunday

Airbus and Tata Advanced Systems Limited will manufacture the C-295 aircraft at the facility to be developed by the joint venture in Vadodara in Gujarat. The construction of the manufacturing facility for the tactical military aircraft will be started on Sunday, and PM Narendra Modi will lay a ceremonial foundation stone to make be beginning of the construction of the plant.

Last year the union cabinet had approved the purchase of 56 C-295MW military transport aircraft from Airbus for the Indian Air Force for around ₹22,000 crore, with the condition that 40 of them will be made in India. It was announced that the first 16 aircraft will be purchased in flyway condition from Spain within 48 months of the signing of the contract, and the rest 40 will be manufactured in India by a consortium led by Tata Advanced Systems Limited in collaboration with Airbus.

Confirming the selection of Vadodara as the site to make the C-295, Defence Secretary Dr Ajay Kumar informed at a press conference that 96% of the work on the aircraft that Airbus does in its facility in Spain would be done in the Indian facility. Over 13,400 parts of the C295 would be sourced from 125 Indian suppliers located in seven Indian states. This includes electronic warfare suite for the aircraft to be made by public sector BEL, which will be fitted in all 56 planes. Kumar added that this project will have one of the highest indigenous content.

The Defence Secretary further said that apart from making 40 C-295 aircraft, the facility at Vadodara will also manufacture additional aircraft for Air Force requirements and exports. The 40 planes made at the Vadodara plant will be delivered from 2026 to 2031. The plant is expected to deliver 8 aircraft per year. On the other hand, the first batch of 16 planes will be delivered by Airbus from its CASA plant in Spain from 2023 to 2025.

After delivering the order of IAF, the C-295 plant will serve as a hub for the exports of the aircraft to other countries. Defence Secretary Ajay Kumar also said that the Airbus-Tata facility will be able to manufacture larger aircraft in future.

Attending the press conference, IAF officials informed that the first Indian Air Force squadron of C-295 transport aircraft would also be based in Vadodara. IAF Vice Chief Air Marshal Sandeep Singh said that after the induction of 56 C-295 planes, the IAF will become the largest operator of the aircraft.

The IAF is acquiring the C-295 aircraft to replace its fleet of old Avro HS748 transport planes. IAF currently operates 57 Hawker Siddeley HS 748 aircraft, originally designed by British company Avro and manufactured under licence by HAL in India, which are being retired. HAL had offered to upgrade the HS 748 Avro fleet to modernise it, but the IAF had rejected the proposal as the aircraft lacks crucial features needed in modern military transport planes. The lack of a rear ramp door in the Avro aircraft means that it can’t be used to transport military equipment for logistical support, and has largely been used for troop and VVIP movement.

The C-295 will also take the place of An-32 planes, which have seen several accidents in the past. The AN-32 is not fit to fly in difficult terrain in North East, and the C-295 will play a crucial role near the Chinese border.

C-295 aircraft is a twin-turboprop transport aircraft of 5-10 Tonne capacity with contemporary technology. The aircraft has a rear ramp door for quick reaction and para dropping of troops and cargo.

India currently operates several different military transport aircraft. Apart from the British plane HS 748 Avro and Ukraine-made AN-32, the IAF operates Soviet-made Ilyushin Il-76, and American large transport planes Boeing C-17 Globemaster and C-130J Super Hercules.

SP leader Azam Khan convicted by Rampur Court in 2019 hate speech case, sentenced to three years in jail

On Thursday, the special MP/MLA court in Rampur convicted Samajwadi Party senior leader Azam Khan in the 2019 hate speech case. The court sentenced him to three years in jail, and also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000. Azam Khan was accused of using derogatory language for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath during the 2019 Loksabha Elections. He also had abused the then Rampur District Magistrate, IAS Aunjaneya Kumar Singh.

According to the reports, the court found Khan guilty of abusing the PM and CM Yogi Adityanath and also the then DM, IAS Aunjaneya Kumar Singh. The case was registered against Azam Khan at Milak Kotwali in Rampur on April 9, 2019, for making provocative remarks against the three. Khan has the option of movig the High Court challenging the verdict of the Rampur Court.

Delivering the speech in the year 2019, SP leader Azam Khan had slammed the BJP-led government for allegedly ruining the lives of the citizens. He had asked the people to take ‘inteqam’ (revenge) against PM Modi and UP CM Yogi Adityanath. He also had said that Muslims had suffered a lot during the BJP rule from 2014 to 2019 and that the BJP leaders ruling over the government were ‘criminals’. He had made repeated requests to take revenge against PM Modi and UP CM Yogi Adityanath.

The case had been registered under sections 153a (promoting enmity between two groups), 505-1 (statement conducing to public mischief) of IPC along with sections 125 of the Representation of People Act 1951. The case was however registered after Akash Saxena, an advocate and a local BJP leader raised the issue and said that Khan was trying to incite violence among two communities by delivering a provocative speech. “He delivered provocative speech to incite violence and also used foul language for the then DM and his mother”, said Saxena who contested against Khan in recent MLA elections in 2022.

“On my complaint, the returning officer took cognizance of the matter and after checking the video footage of the speech, he ordered FIR against the leader”, he was quoted further. Yet though the Court is about to announce the quantum of punishment to Khan, reports mention that the leader might lose power as any MLA, MLC, or MP loses membership in the house if convicted in a criminal case.

As per the Supreme Court’s decision of July 10, 2013, if any MLA, MLC, or MP is convicted in a criminal case and sentenced to at least two years in jail, he or she loses membership in the house with immediate effect. The maximum sentence under IPC sections 505-1 and 153a is three years in prison, which means Khan has the possibility of losing his power.

According to the reports, the Court took into account statements of 21 witnesses out of which 5 were produced by the defense council. However, four cameramen, in-charge of the video observation team and other witnesses were produced by the prosecution.

Karnataka: Lingayat Matha’s seer commits suicide in Ramanagara, blackmail, and honey trap for 80 acres of land suspected

0

On Monday, a 45-year-old Lingayat seer of Kunchagal Bande Matha was found dead in his Ashram in the Ramanagara district of Karnataka. The seer identified as Basavalingeshwara Swamy allegedly committed suicide after being harassed and blackmailed by some people. He named many people in his suicide note. The Math is located in the Magadi taluka, 50 km away from Bengaluru.

According to the reports, the police read the two paged suicide note and revealed that he was mentally harassed after being honey-trapped by a woman and was being blackmailed using his private videos. The seer allegedly identified certain persons in his suicide letter, accusing them of blackmailing and pestering him, as well as attempting to destroy his character.

It has also been claimed that the main culprit in the case is another Lingayat seer who wanted Basavalingeshwara Swamiji’s position in the ashram. The police have stated that, in addition to the seer, a group of 10-15 persons, including some politicians, are involved in the conspiracy that was well plotted against him. However, in the fresh revelations in the case, reports mention that the plot against the seer was planned by a powerful political figure in Karnataka who wanted the seer to give away 80 acres of the Kachugal Bandemath land which is located at a prime location on the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway.

The politician wanted the seer to sign the required documents and was mounting pressure upon him for the past 6-7 months. The politician wanted the land for personal purposes, as per a report in Republic TV. While the seer accused multiple people of tormenting and coercing him in his suicide letter, no mention of any politician has been made in the FIR.

So far, the police have interrogated seven people, three of them are women. Yet though, the police have declined to reveal specifics such as the identities of those identified by Basavalinga Swamy, citing the active investigation. Individuals listed by the seer, as well as those with whom he had close contact, are also expected to be questioned shortly.

Earlier, the Police had said that the seer was honey-trapped by a woman and that he was video graphed by using the woman’s phone. Later he was threatened that his videos with the woman would be made public if he failed to meet the demands. Around 10-15 people including the woman and some politicians pressurized him to give away 80 acres of the Matha land, as per reports.

Basavalingeshwara Swamy had been the chief priest of Karnataka’s Kanchugal Bande Math for many years, which has been in existence for almost 400 years now. On Monday morning, he was spotted hanging from the window grill of his Puja room on the Matha’s premises. The alert was triggered when his chamber stayed closed until 6 am, which was unusual as the seer used to wake up at 4 am.

The police have accessed the videos in which the seer can be seen smiling and conversing with a woman. Also, two mobile phones and a diary in the case have been seized. Further investigation in the case is underway.

‘Breathtaking lack of remorse’, Court rejects grooming gang child rapists Adil Khan and Qari Abdul Rauf’s deportation appeal from UK to Pakistan

The UK immigration court has rejected Adil Khan and Qari Abdul Rauf’s appeal against deportation and said that the two would be sent back to Pakistan after release from jail for the public good. The two were convicted of involvement in a grooming gang that raped nearly 50 girls in Rochdale, United Kingdom nearly a decade ago. The duo had in July this year invoked their ‘human right’ to fight their deportation to Pakistan.

While rejecting the plea, the immigration Judges Charlotte Welsh and Judge Siew Ling Yoke stated that Khan had shown a “breath-taking lack of remorse” and in his and Rauf’s case, there was a very strong public interest in them being kicked out of the UK.

Notably, the decision by the tribunal was made in August but was only made public on Thursday, October 27.

Adil Khan and Qari Abdul Rauf, who were part of the Grooming gang that raped dozens of girls in the UK’s Rochdale were convicted for their crimes in May 2012. As per the UK police, nine members of the Rochdale sex grooming gang, including Khan and Rauf, operated in various parts of the country from 2008 to 2010, supplying girls as young as 12 with alcohol and drugs and gang-raping them in various locations, sometimes “pimping” them out for money. As many as 47 girls were assaulted in the two years.

According to reports, Adil Khan impregnated a 13-year-old girl before trafficking a 15-year-old girl for sex and using violence against her when she complained. He was sentenced to eight years in prison but was released four years later.

Abdul Rauf, meanwhile, was convicted for trafficking a 15-year-old for sex, taking her to a flat in Rochdale where he and his acquaintances sexually abused her. He was sentenced to six years before being released after two and a half years in prison. He is a father of five children.

The duo’s deportation proceedings were launched by the then Home Secretary Theresa May ‘for the public good’. In July 2022, the duo invoked their ‘human right’ to fight their deportation to Pakistan.

During the hearing, Khan had argued that he shouldn’t be deported because his son needed a role model. Moreover, their lawyers claimed that their human rights prevented them from being deported and that they had certificates renouncing their Pakistani citizenship. It was argued that their deportation would violate Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights, which relates to the right to a private and family life.

However, the court has now put the seven-year-old legal battle to rest as it said that there was a “very strong public interest” to deport the pair as soon as possible.

Chinese spies inside US universities, 4 MSS agents charged for trying to recruit professors to work against US

0

On October 24, the Department of Justice, United States, unsealed a federal indictment charging four Chinese nationals including three Ministry of State Security (MSS) intelligence officers for acting as agents of the People’s Republic of China (PRC). The four Chinese nationals identified as Wang Lin, Bi Hongwei, Dong Ting, aka Chelsea Dong, and Wang Qiang allegedly engaged in efforts to target and recruit individuals for the Chinese government in the US.

As per the DOJ’s press release, these recruits would provide information, materials, equipment, and assistance to the Chinese government to fulfill PRC’s intelligence objectives. These four agents targeted professors at universities, former federal law enforcement officials, state homeland security officials, and several others on behalf of the Chinese government.

US Attorney Philip R. Sellinger and National Security Division Assistant Attorney General Matthew Olsen informed via a press release that these MSS intelligence officers used a purported academic institute at the Ocean University of China which is also known as the Institute for International Studies (IIS) to cover the tracks of intelligence activities.

Wang Lin and other MSS operatives posed as academics at the IIS to target professors at American Universities and others in the US to gain access to sensitive equipment and information. US Attorney Sellinger said, “This indictment drives home the fact that the intelligence risk posed by MSS continues to be real, ever-present, and significant. Everyone in the United States – and especially those in the academic, business, military, or government positions that have access to sensitive information or equipment – should take heed of the risk that the MSS poses to our democracy and way of life.”

Special Agent in Charge James Dennehy said, “These defendants cloaked themselves and their motives in order to get access to our higher learning institutions and recruit others to betray this nation. All intended to give China a leg up. The FBI would never let that happen. The safety of the citizens of the United States and the security of our nation are our top priorities. When foreign adversaries threaten either of those two things – whether on our soil or from another country; whether in-person or through cyber channels – we will use every resource at our disposal to uncover their espionage, thwart their malign influence, and bring them to justice.”

Details of indictment

The indictment mentioned that the threat posed by PRC’s ongoing, wide-ranging, and systematic effort to gain access to intelligence information using sources in the US is “significant and ongoing”. MSS, which is China’s civilian intelligence agency, is responsible for conducting foreign intelligence activities and counterintelligence along with political security for the PRC.

It read, “The MSS and its regional bureaus focus on identifying and influencing the foreign policy of other countries, including the United States, by seeking to obtain information on political, economic, and security policies that might affect the PRC, along with military, scientific, and technical information of value to the PRC.”

“The MSS and its regional bureaus are tasked with conducting clandestine and covert human source operations, of which the United States was and remains a principal target. Chinese intelligence services, including the MSS, utilize a variety of state ministries, societies, academic institutions, and the Chinese military-industrial complex to support intelligence activities, including providing cover jobs to operatives. The investigation revealed that the defendants used one such purported academic institution – the IIS – as cover for their intelligence activities for the MSS,” it added.

The indictment mentioned that an individual was invited to China on all-expense-paid trips in 2008 and 2018. During those trips, Wang Lin, Dong and others tried to recruit the individual as a human source to gain access to information, sensitive fingerprint technology and assistance to stop planned protests along the 2008 Olympic Games torch route in the US. The conspirators expressed that such protests would be “embarrassing” to China.

They also requested the individual to sign a contract to pose as if he was providing consultancy services to a Chinese company whose core value was the “national interest and national security” of China, with an objective to “protect the national interest and Chinese enterprises’ overseas interest[s]” and to “build sources and channels to collect security information.”

The individual realized that they were Chinese intelligence officers and refused to provide any support to them. The individual reported them to law enforcement agencies in the US.

Furthermore, it was mentioned that in 2016, Wang Quang coordinated a meeting in 2016 between the co-conspirator, Wang Lin and Bi Hongwei in the Bahamas. MSS intelligence officers Wang Lin and Bi directed the co-conspirator to arrange US currency and provide it to an individual in New Jersey. The task was completed by the co-conspirator. Later Quang visited the co-conspirator in NJ and discussed the intelligence operations in the US in detail.

All the accused have been charged with conspiracy to act in the United States as agents of the People’s Republic of China without prior notification to the Attorney General of the United States. The charge carries a maximum prison term of five years and a maximum fine of $250,000.

“The charges and allegations contained in the indictment are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty,” read the press release.

China’s intelligence operations on foreign lands

This is not the first time China has been accused of spying on officials in a foreign land or attempting to recruit people for intelligence services. In July 2021, four Chinese nationals were charged in the US in a China-backed global espionage campaign, targeting dozens of companies, universities, and government agencies in the US and at least 11 other countries, between July 2009 to September 2018.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) said that the cyber theft was of “significant economic benefit to China’s companies and commercial sectors.” Accused Ding Xiaoyang, Cheng Qingmin, Zhu Yunmin, and Wu Shurong were working with the sole motive, according to court documents, which is installing malware on protected computers and stealing the data on the computers. As alleged, the accused MSS officers coordinated with staff and professors at various universities in Hainan and elsewhere in China to further the conspiracy’s goals.

In February 2021, the intelligence agencies of three nations, Finland, Canada and the Netherlands, raised concerns over the Chinese espionage attack on governments, companies and universities. All three countries have said on separate occasions that collaborating with China can be dangerous for national security. The attacks may cover several sectors, including banking, energy and infrastructure.

As per the latest threat assessment issued by intelligence services AIVD, MIVD, and NCTV, the universities and other knowledge institutes in the Netherlands are not only under threat of cyber-attacks, but the Chinese researchers, PhD candidates and students in these institutes may be working as spies for China.

The report suggested that collaborating with China poses a threat to national security and prosperity in different ways. It further added that China might target companies and knowledge institutes in the Netherlands to gather high-value knowledge and technology that it can use for its own economic, political and military gains.

In December 2020, it was reported that the Chinese nationals studying at Harvard and Princeton universities would be using code names to shield their identities as a protection measure against surveillance by China’s Communist government. The university classes will also carry warning labels such as “This course may cover material considered politically sensitive by China”. Lately, it has been revealed how the Communist Party of China has funneled a massive amount of money into ivy league US universities including Stanford, and Harvard in an effort to infiltrate these research institutes.

It was also revealed that Harvard and Stanford were funded by the Chinese government. Over a billion dollars were pumped by China into US Universities.

In June 2020, it was reported that China was aggressively scaling up its non-traditional espionage activities across the world. The report states that the scale of the spy rings operated by China is unprecedented and is much larger than that of the cold war era. It also claims that the Chinese spy rings include people from all professions—journalists, policymakers, political leaders, researchers and many others.

As Delhi HC’s 6-week notice to Subramanian Swamy to vacate govt bungalow ends, he approaches court claiming centre has not made security arrangements

On Thursday, former BJP Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy approached the Delhi High Court claiming that the Centre failed to ensure adequate security arrangements at his private residence in the national capital. The move came as the six-week window provided to him by the Delhi High Court to hand over possession of the government accommodation he had been living in the Lutyens’ Bungalow Zone in Delhi to the estate officer ended today.

Swamy’s lawyer Jayant Mehta submitted before the division bench headed by Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma that his client had agreed to leave the government accommodation by October 26 after an undertaking was given by the Centre before the court that it will ensure that all adequate security arrangements are done at his private accommodation. However, Mehta claimed that no such arrangement was done by the central government.

The matter was mentioned by Senior Advocate Jayant Mehta before a bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramonium Prasad, and the court agreed to list the case for hearing on October 31, Monday.

On 14 September, Swamy was ordered by the Delhi High Court to vacate the government bungalow within 6 weeks, and accordingly, that window of six weeks ended today. And on the last of the grace period, he approached the High Court seeking to retain the bungalow for more time.

Calling Subramanian Swamy a ‘Shameless blackmailer’, Delhi BJP leader Sourabh Choudhary tweeted that he has come up with “senile, baseless and desperate tweets” today because today is the last day of the six-week notice given by the High Court to hand over the bungalow to the govt.

Delhi HC directs Subramanian Swamy to vacate Govt accommodation within 6 weeks

At this point, the petition looks to be Subramanian Swamy’s last-ditch effort to escape having to vacate the government house allotted to him in 2016. Notably, in January 2016, the urban development ministry of the union government allotted a bungalow on Pandara Road in the Lutyens’ Bungalow Zone in Delhi to Subramanian Swamy on security grounds. Swamy was a private citizen at that time, but he was allotted the VVIP house based on threat perception.

Subramanian Swamy was nominated as a Rajya Sabha member in April 2016, and he continued to live in bungalow number AB-14 as an MP. His Rajya Sabha term ended in April this year, but he wanted to retain the house and approached the Delhi High Court seeking re-allotment of the bungalow. In his plea, he had said that it was originally allotted to him on security grounds, and he still faces threats due to his political activities.

The disgruntled BJP leader claimed that the type 7 bungalow should be re-allotted to him as he is a Z-category protectee and there are security guards that stay with him.

But the central govt opposed the plea, saying that the house is required to allot other ministers and MPs. Central Government’s Standing Counsel Asheesh Jain said that while Swamy’s Z-category security has not been downgraded, the question is on the bungalow, which was allotted for five years, and that term has expired.

After hearing the arguments, the High Court rejected the plea filed by Swamy on September 14 this year and ordered him to vacate the bungalow within 6 weeks. The court noted that the appellant has a residence in Nizamuddin East, and directed the govt to arrange for his security and safety there.

Pope Francis admits nuns and priests watch porn, says “The devil gets in from there”

0

In a transcript released by the Vatican on Wednesday, Pope Francis warned seminarians in Rome about the risks of online pornography, calling soft porn a temptation that “weakens the priestly heart.”

Pope Francis’ meeting at the Vatican on Monday saw the 86-year-old pontiff address in detail a broad range of questions from priests and seminarians studying in Rome, ranging from reconciling science and faith to attempting to live virtuously in the face of personal flaws.

However, when asked how digital and social media should be utilized to “spread the joy of being Christians,” the Pontiff warned against excessively watching the news and listening to music that distracts from one’s work.

“And there’s another issue on this (topic) that you’re probably aware of, digital pornography”, he stated according to the transcript issued of the question and answer session, he stated.

“Each of you consider if you have had experience with or been tempted by internet pornography. It’s a vice that many individuals have, including laymen, laywomen, and even priests and nuns,” Pope Francis said.

“And I’m not just talking about criminal pornography, where you see live examples of abuse: that’s already degeneracy. However, in terms of regular pornography”, he went on to say.

The Pope has already condemned pornography previously, most recently in June, when he termed it a “persistent attack on the dignity of men and women,” adding that it should be designated a threat to public health.

“Dear brothers, watch out for this. This pornographic information cannot be received by a pure heart, one that accepts Jesus every day. Delete it from your cell phones so you don’t have temptation in your hand”, the Pope advised.

“The devil enters from there, weakening the priestly heart. Excuse me for delving into the details about pornography, but there is a reality: a reality that affects priests, seminarians, nuns, and consecrated souls,” he remarked.

Pope Francis further asserted the importance of avoiding porn and mentioned that it is a very crucial issue.

The Vatican was left red-faced in late 2020 after it was revealed that Pope Francis’ official Instagram account liked a photo of a Brazilian model, Natalia Garibotto, prompting it to seek explanations from the social media app. Before being unliked, the “like” was displayed on Garibotto’s page for several days.

In a historic decision, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah announces equal pay for male and female cricketers

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the implementation of a pay equity policy for contracted Indian women cricketers. The match fee for both Men and Women Cricketers will now be the same from the BCCI.

Sharing the news, BCCI honorary secretary Jay Shah tweeted, “I’m pleased to announce @BCCI’s first step towards tackling discrimination. We are implementing pay equity policy for our contracted @BCCIWomen cricketers.”

As per the new policy, the women cricketers contracted by BCCI will be paid 15 lakhs rupees per Test match, 6 lakhs rupees per One Day International, and 3 lakhs per T20 International, in line with the payments made to the men’s cricket team for the international games. Mr. Shah added that it was his commitment to provide this pay equity to female cricketers and he has managed to achieve it.

The interest in women’s cricket has been growing in India during the past few years, especially after India reached the final of the 2017 World Cup on the back of a historic 171* by current skipper Harmanpreet Kaur. Since then, India has also reached the final of the T20 World Cup in 2020, made it to the final of the Commonwealth Games in 2022, and won the recently concluded Asia Cup.

Adding this pay equity is not the only step that BCCI has taken to promote women’s cricket in India. Starting in 2023, there will be an IPL for women’s cricket as well, in line with the existing Indian Premier League for men’s cricket. The women’s Indian Premier League will have its inaugural edition in March 2023, ahead of the men’s IPL, and will consist of 5 teams.

The event is expected to give a boost to the women’s game in the country, similar to the one the men’s game received in terms of money and popularity after the event was launched in 2008.
