Congress steals images to ask for votes, ends up promoting schemes of BJP govts of Assam and the centre: Read details

On January 09, The official Twitter handle of Congress had posted a tweet claiming that the party will introduce free bus service for women. In the tweet posted in Hindi ahead of the state elections, the party promised that a Congress government bring free bus service for women to protect them from harassment. However, the party deleted the tweet after it was caught using a photograph from BJP-ruled Assam, masking signage on a bus that showed that it is from Assam.

In the tweet, the Congress party used a photograph of several pink coloured buses lined up, with three women taking a selfie in front of them. On the front-most bus, the party masked the branding on the windscreen of the bus, leaving a logo depicting a rhino in the middle. The picture was captioned, “Now women would not be victims of assault. The Congress would bring Free bus service for Women”. Under the hashtag #Ayegi_Congress, the handle tweeted “We will start Free Bus service for women. We will ensure Free, safe and easy Bus service for women.”

Screengrab of the now-deleted tweet of Congress

However, soon after the party posted the tweet, many alert Twitter users pointed out blurring of the title of the Bus in the picture with red. They pointed out that the original picture in the tweet was from Assam, where in January Last year, the Sarbanand Sonowal-led state govt had commenced a dedicated Pink Bus service for women and senior citizens in Guwahati. Under the ‘Bhraman Sarathi Scheme’ from Assam, the BJP had already achieved to do what Congress was promising – that too with a picture talking about the former’s achievements.

Twitter users were quick to find out this fallacy by the media management department of Congress. The picture in the tweet had blurred signage on the bus which said ‘Bhraman Sarathi’ in Assamese, the name of the service. The rhino symbol that was not masked is the familiar logo of Assam State Transport Corporation, which runs the buses.

Apparently, the Congress party wanted to use a picture of buses dedicated to women and found this photograph. The photo had originally appeared on an India.com report about the launch of The Pink bus service in Assam. But as it had proof that it is from BJP-ruled Assam, they decided to mask the proof. But that was not enough to fool the alert netizens.

The party had learnt that it was caught up in an embarrassing situation, and had no option left but to finally delete the tweet.

It was already in early 2020 that then Chief Minister of Assam, Sarbanand Sonowal had flagged off 25 ‘Pink Buses’ in Guwahati in a bid to provide free transportation to the women and the elderly under a new scheme called ‘Bhraman Sarathi’. The buses, painted in pink, ply on several routes in Guwahati to provide fast, safe and easy mobility to women and senior citizens.

Just a day before this fiasco, Congress had made another gaffe where they ended up promoting Prime Minister Modi’s “Ujjwala scheme”.

Twitter user @BefittingFacts pointed out that the Congress had posted a tweet about fighting rising prices, but had ended up using an image that actually showcased how well PM Modi’s Ujjwala scheme, that provides cooking cylinders to women so they don’t have to cook food using coal.

Once it was pointed out to Congress, the party quickly deleted the tweet from their official Twitter handle.

In 2 days, Congress seems to have made two gaffes where they ended up promoting schemes by the Modi government while trying to show them down. Once they were called out on Twitter, both tweets were quietly deleted to avoid the embarrassment.

Unverified claims, impossible capabilities: The Wire invents an imaginary app with superpowers to target BJP

On January 6th, left-wing propaganda portal The Wire published a report claiming that BJP was using an app to manipulate trends and automatically spew hate online. Relying on an August 2020 tweet and some ‘source’, The Wire claimed that the party was using one software named Tek Fog, led by BJP leader Devang Dave. Even though Dave completely denied the allegations in an email to Wire, they still proceeded to publish the story.

In the report, Wire claimed that the so-called Tek Fog app allowed BJP to ‘hijack’ the Twitter trends, allowed managing multiple WhatsApp accounts and direct online harassment of anti-BJP journalists. The report claims that the app can bypass all kinds of security features that major social media platforms have. According to The Wire, Tek Fog has some kind of superpower, which has capabilities that even NSA of USA does not have. According to Wire, hacking top apps like Twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp etc is a child’s play using the app, and all security featured of those platforms vanish with this magical piece of software.

The portal based the story on a couple of tweets by one Aarthi Sharma, who in August 2020 had claimed on Twitter that she was working in the IT cell since 2014, and was promised a govt job. After not getting the promised job, she ‘revealed’ that she was asked to use the ‘secret app’ Tek Fog, which bypasses reCAPTCHA codes and is used to auto-upload text and hashtag trends.

Before publishing the story, The Wire had contacted Devang Dave for his comments, and he had completely denied the allegations. In a mail sent to the portal, he had said that BJP or BJYM never indulged in any such social media manipulation. Saying that the organisation does not need such apps to manipulate things, Dave had said that none in the organisation was even aware of any such app.

Referring to Wire saying that the app had accessed BJYM website, Dave had replied that as the website is in the public domain, any app can access the website, but this does not mean that they have links with the app. He had clarified that BJYM and another website mentioned in the article didn’t have any association with the Tek Fog app.

Speaking to OpIndia, Devang Dave reiterated that he and his team members were not even aware of the app, and there is no question of any link with it. He mentioned that the Wire report itself says how the claims made are not verifiable, and despite they published the report using some technical jargon.

Dave also denied any knowledge of anyone named Aarthi Sharma working in BJP’s IT cell, who is the primary basis of the Wire report.

Based on the claims of Aarthi Sharma, Wire claims to have started investigating the same, and said that they obtained some information from some a source they didn’t reveal. But if one reads the report, it can be found that Wire published the claims despite the fact that they could not verify the claims, and they just blindly reported what their ‘source’ gave them.

Clams that can’t be verified, technically not possible

The Wire said they couldn’t access the Tek Fog app, but was able to find some scripts which allowed them to connect to a secure server hosting the Tek Fog app. The source supposedly provided screenshots of the app to Wire, to prove its existence. The report didn’t any include any example of the script, or the URL/IP addresses of the ‘secure server’ that hosted the app.

According to Wire, this Tek Feg has some kind of superpower that can bypass all security features of all social media platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Telegram. They claim the app can bypass email and OTP verifications required to log on to those platforms to create temporary accounts.

However, Wire added that they could not verify this claim, as they could not verify whether the mentioned accounts were created by the app or created manually using the normal process.

Another claim made in the report was that the app can ‘hijack’ inactive WhatsApp accounts of people and can send messages to their contacts from their phones. It claims it was done to phish personal information from targeted users to add to a could based political database.

Wire claims this allegation was verified, as the source was able to hijack the inactive WhatsApp account of one of the authors, and send messages from that account. However, anyone with basic knowledge of computers will know that unless the target phone is already infected with some malware or trojan, this is not possible. Real-world hacking does not work as shown in movies, and for an end-to-end encrypted app like WhatsApp, it is even more difficult.

If the inactive WhatsApp account of the Wire author was actually hacked, it means the device was already hacked using some malicious link the ‘source’ had sent them.

The report also claimed the app can delete or remap all existing Twitter accounts at a moment’s notice, and as usual, The Wire could not independently verify this claim.

Claims that don’t need an spy app

The report further claimed that the app was used for targeted harassment of journalists by auto replying to them with abusive keywords. It says that the list of targets is maintained in Google Sheets, which is used to ‘auto-reply’ to those journalists. Wire claims they verified it by analysing replies sent to some female journalists over a four months period in 2021. They claim that 18% of all replies to 280 woman journalists were sent from Twitter accounts managed by the Tek Fog app.

However, the Wire had already admitted that they could not verify whether the listed accounts were created manually or created using Tek Fog, therefore, it is not verifiable that the 18% replies were auto-generated using the app.

Moreover, the report itself claims that they could not access any of the Google Sheets, as apparently, the app operatives do not allow that. But as proof of the claim, they cited an Alt News report which showed the use of online spreadsheets for tweets by BJP.

But the fact is, that is not proof, and what Alt News reported was not something illegal, and there was nothing automated in that. The Alt News report showed that BJP leaders were tweeting texts provided in a Google Sheet. This is a normal social media operation that most organisations do. They prepare the text to be shared, then distribute them to the members, or social media influencers in case of paid campaigns, and accordingly the users post the text from their accounts. They copy-paste the text and share the same, there is no automation involved, and is just an organised campaign.

Just because some organisation gets thousands of its members to post similar text on social media, which can result in trending hashtags, does not make it some illegal operation or hacking, and it does not need any hacking app like the so-called Tek Fog. The organisations can use any tool to distribute the content to their members, like a document saves on a cloud drive, a mailing list, a messaging group etc.

Similarly, auto-replying on Twitter also does not require any specialised spy app, anyone who can develop Twitter bots can do this. It is not some hacking that Wire wants us to believe, it is actually a feature that Twitter provides. Even though Twitter does not allow using bots used tor spamming, the normal use of bots is allowed, like auto-replying to specific keywords.

However, there is absolutely no proof in the Wire report that the auto-replies were sent using the Tek Fog app, as they themselves could not verify that the accounts were being managed using the app.

Wire claims that Tek Fog was used to control several accounts present both on Twitter and Sharechat, and the same content was shared on both the platforms. But the report does not explain what is the problem with that. So many social media users post the same content on different social platforms. In fact, there are apps that allow connecting different social media platforms to share content on all of them from a single app. There are legitimate apps available for this purpose, and organisations use them regularly, no secret app is needed for that.

Everyone named in the report has denied the claims

Apart from Devang Dave, all others named in the report have also denied any link with the app, and said they are not even aware of it.

The report claimed that the Tek Fog app is linked to Sharechat, but Sharechat has denied any link with the purported app. In a response from the company added to the report later, Sharechat said that they are not aware of the Tek Fog app.

The Wire report claimed that apart from using various online tools, the Teg Fog tram also had links with “pro-establishment Hindi-and-English websites and news platforms, including Republic World, OpIndia, ABP News and Dainik Jagran”. While we can’t talk about other media houses, OpIndia categorically denies this allegation. No member of the OpIndia team was aware of any app called Tek Fog, so there is no question of any link.

It further claims that the app’s link with BJYM was proved with two IP addresses. It said that 172.104.48.129 and 103.53.43.161 had accessed the Tek Fog app, and the first IP address is linked with BJYM, while the second is linked with a website managed by Devang Dave. However, a simple check shows that the first IP address is based in Singapore, and is linked with a cloud computing provider named Linode.

Moreover, Dave has clarified that the app may have accessed the BJYM website, that does not mean they are linked.

Persistent Systems, another company accused of collaborating with the app, also has denied any involvement.

Mastermind behind Bulli Bai app also created an alias named ‘Javed Alam’ to mislead the Sulli Deals probe: Reports

Amidst the ongoing probe against the derogatory ‘Bulli Bai’ app, it has come to light that the mastermind Niraj Bishnoi had tried to mislead the police with a Muslim alias during the ‘Sulli Deals’ app controversy.

As per reports, Niraj Bishnoi had 5 Twitter accounts and one of them was used to give the impression that the Sulli Deals app was created by a 23-year-old engineering student named Javed Alam. The five Twitter handles were named after a gaming character called ‘Giyu’.

They were identified as @giyu007, @giyuu84, @giyu94, @giyu2002, and @giyu44. As per DCP (Cyber unit) KPS Malhotra, Bishnoi used the Twitter handle (@giyu007) to spread misinformation that Sulli Deals was the creation of Alam. The accused also created another fake handle of a woman to contact the probe agencies while posing as a news reporter.

KPS Malhotra informed, “He came in contact with various news reporters and tried to spread this misinformation.” Reportedly, he used the @giyu2002 to make abusive remarks on the picture of a woman whom he had auctioned on the app.

On May 13, the Twitter handle stated, “I invoke the legendary @sullideals 101 to auction this Sulli…Minimum bid $1 USD. Bidding starts now. All the best to all players.” A First Information Report (FIR) was lodged against the handle in June 2021 at the Kishangarh police station.

Another account, @giyu44 was created on January 3 to mock the arrests made by the Mumbai police and had challenged law enforcement authorities to arrest him. Bishnoi had changed his location to Nepal to mislead the police.

Niraj Bishnoi was arrested by the Delhi Police, IFSO special cell on January 6 from Jorhat in Assam. The accused, a 21-year-old engineering student, has confessed to his act. The other accused arrested in the Bulli Bai app are Vishal Kumar Jha (21), Mayank Rawat(21), and Shweta Singh (19).

Delhi police arrests mastermind behind Sulli Deals app

In a major breakthrough, the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) of Delhi Police Special Cell arrested the creator and mastermind of the Sulli Deals app. The development comes days after cops nabbed three accused in the Bulli Bai app case. As per reports, the accused has been identified as 25-year-old Omkeshwar Thakur.

He was nabbed based on the inputs given by the creator of the Bulli Bai app, Niraj Bishnoi. During interrogation, Thakur informed that he developed the Sulli Deals app on GitHub in July last year, where pictures of Muslim women were put up for ‘virtual auction.’ The creator of the Sulli Deals app is a BCA student. He has revealed the involvement of several people in the case.

Chattisgarh: Maoist lovers who ran away from camp to marry murdered by fellow comrades in Bastar

Two Maoist lovers who broke away from their Naxal camp to marry have been found murdered in the Bijapur district of Bastar, Chattisgarh. The incident took place on January 06 while it is suspected that the couple was chased by their fellow Naxal comrades.

Bastar range IG P Sundaraj has stated that the couple is among three people allegedly killed by the Maoists in the district. He further said, “Police got information from multiple sources that the Maoists have killed three people in Gangaloor region. It appears that the Naxals have killed two of their former comrades on January 6”.

The police officer further added that there was information that the couple broke away from the Maoist ranks and fled the camp to get married.

The deceased have been identified as Kamlu Punem, a militia platoon commander, and Mangi, a Naxal member along with another member who is not yet identified. Kamlu Punem had a track of 11 cases registered against him while Mangi was wanted in three cases at various police stations in Bijapur. According to Sundarraj, the couple was traced by their fellow Naxals and was brutally murdered following a ‘Jan Adalat’ meet in Indinaar village. The Gangaloor area cadet is infamous for killing their own comrades attempting to rebel.

Talking about the incident, the IG further added, “The Maoists have suffered many setbacks in the last couple of years and have become highly frustrated and directionless. They are killing their own cadres on mere suspicion and out of intolerance.”

Incidents of Maoists killing their fellow men in Naxalite areas are not new. In January 2021, A Maoist commander had killed his brother who had quit CPI(Maoist) to join the police.

YouTuber Happy Goldsmith apologizes for depicting the assassination of PM Modi in gaming video, claims he is getting death threats

Manpreet Singh, a 20-year-old YouTuber from Punjab, who sparked controversy for his GTA gaming video in which he had ‘brutally killed PM Modi’, has issued an apology, alleged it was meant to be a joke, and people took it seriously. The video was uploaded on his YouTube Channel Happy Goldsmith.

In a three minute video, Manpreet Singh apologized for his earlier video and said he now understood it was a mistake to create such a video. In his statement issued in Punjabi, Singh said, “A clip from a 4-month video is being circulated on social media. Because of that video, my family and I are getting death threats. People are messaging and calling me on social media, abusing and threatening me. I know I committed a mistake.”

He further added that when the video became viral, he made it private and put up a story on Instagram apologizing for the same. “But after that, I am facing a lot of hate. People are connecting a character of a gaming video to real life. I would like to tell you that it was a gaming video. I understand it was a mistake,” he added. Singh claimed he started creating gaming video sometime back and still learning it. “It was my foolishness to create such a video, and I am suffering because of that. I am ready to face the punishment, but it was made for entertainment only. It was a joke. I was not aware people would take it seriously. It was an old video, and it is not right to connect it to the current scenario. I have removed the video.”

He claimed the netizens were exaggerating the content of the video, and his intentions were to make it humorous. “I apologize, and I am ready to face the consequences,” he said.

Earlier, he had posted a tweet apologizing for the same.

Was it really a humorous video?

Singh, who has a fan following of close to 3,00,000 on his YouTube channel, often uploads streaming videos related to GTA5, Valorant and Farmer Simulator. Hailing from Bagha Purana, Punjab, Singh had uploaded the controversial video four months ago. He narrates the commentary in the Punjabi language.

In the now-deleted video, Singh informed his followers about what was going to happen. He said, “The Police that is providing security to Modi would work with us today. He thinks the Police would protect him, but he is wrong.” He then shows how his fellow protestors have blocked the road from which PM Modi’s car would leave and narrates how he was planning to block his way and ‘teach him a lesson.

When the character of PM Modi drove away in the car, he followed him and, after chasing the car down the road, made the vehicle go off-road. He then chained the vehicle to his tractor and pulled it back to the place where all the protestors were. Singh’s character then shot at the glass and said, “I am not going to shoot him as Police has asked us not to shoot him.” He used a hammer to break the glass and then changed the weapon to a baseball bat.

He said, “Let him come out. I will teach him a lesson with this,” and waved the bat in the air. PM Modi’s character came out of the car and started running. Singh’s character, who was wearing a Sikh turban, chased him down the road and hit him with the baseball bat multiple times. The PM’s character fell down on the road soaked in blood. One may wonder where was the humour in the video when he hit the PM’s character multiple times while saying, “He has troubled us a lot.”

Singh had laughed over the controversy

Earlier, in a now-deleted stream, Singh checked the social media posts and laughed at how his video was making rounds on social media.

He had claimed that he would not delete the video irrespective of the controversy. While using a cuss word, Singh had said, “It was a game” and added, “Bloody Modi Bhakts have come”.

It is notable that dozens of gaming videos are available on YouTube where a character depicting PM Modi is shown attacked and assassinated using various ways.

Veer Baal Diwas to be observed on 26th December to pay tribute to martyr sons of Guru Gobind Singh: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a big announcement on Sunday 9th January 2022, on the occasion of ‘Guru Parv’ that is the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh ji. He said that ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ would be celebrated every year on 26th December from this year onwards. It will be a fitting tribute to the courage and pursuit of justice of the Sahibzadas.

PM Modi announced the celebration of Veer Bal Diwas on twitter. In his Tweet, he has said, “Today, on the auspicious occasion of the Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, I am honoured to share that starting this year, 26th December shall be marked as ‘Veer Baal Diwas.’ This is a fitting tribute to the courage of the Sahibzades and their quest for justice.”

Remembering the ideals of bravery

In a following tweet, PM Modi hailed the bravery of Mata Gujari, Guru Gobind Singh ji and his sons Sahibazades. Two of the four Sahibzades were torchered and killed by Mughals in 1705. The PM said in his tweet, “The bravery and ideals of Mata Gujri, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and the 4 Sahibzades give strength to millions of people. They never bowed to injustice. They envisioned a world that is inclusive and harmonious. It is the need of the hour for more people to know about them.”

</script

He further said, “‘Veer Baal Diwas’ will be on the same day Sahibzada Zorawar Singh Ji and Sahibzada Fateh Singh Ji attained martyrdom after being sealed alive in a wall. These two greats preferred death instead of deviating from the noble principles of Dharma.”

Who were the Sahibzades?

The four Sahibzade Khalsa warrior princes were the sons of Guru Gobind Singh ji. Guru Gobind Singh ji had four sons – Sahibzada Ajit Singh, Sahibzada Jujhar Singh, Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh. All four of his sons were initiated into the Khalsa and all were executed by Mughal forces before the age of 19. Sikhism honors the illustrious martyred sons of Guru Gobind Singh ji in the prayer of ardas for their valor and sacrifice as ‘Char Sahibzade’, that is the four princes of the Khalsa warrior order.

Ajit Singh was martyred at the age of 18, on December 7, 1705 CE at Chamkaur after he volunteered to leave the besieged fortress and face the enemy on the battlefield. Jujhar Singh was martyred at the age of 14, on December 7, 1705 CE at Chamkaur where he earned the reputation of being likened to a crocodile for his fierceness in battle, when he volunteered to leave the besieged fortress with five of the last Singhs standing, and all achieved immortality on the battlefield.

Zorawar Singh and his younger brother Fateh Singh were captured with their grandmother Mata Gujari, the mother of Guru Gobind Singh. They were imprisoned with their grandmother and put to death by cruel Mughals on the orders of Aurangzeb, who attempted to suffocate them inside a brick enclosure. At the time of martyrdom, the ages of Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh were 9 years and 6 years respectively. This sacrifice is seen as the bravest sacrifice for Dharma by any young boys in the Indian history and this is why PM Modi has announced that the day of their martyrdom will be observed as ‘Veer Baal Diwas’.

Guru Gobind Singh was also killed by a Mughal assassin in 1708, a year after the death of Aurangzeb.

The British Sikh Association condemns the security breach of PM Modi, demands an apology from the Punjab government

The British Sikh Association has criticised the security lapse that occurred during PM Modi’s visit to Ferozepur in Punjab, stating that the PM is a democratically elected head of the Indian government who represents the entire country, not just one state.

The cancellation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s event and his security breach at Ferozpur, Punjab, on January 5 has turned into a significant debate. The British Sikh Association, based in the United Kingdom, has issued an official statement and has taken up this issue, reminding those who disrupted PM Modi’s visit that the state would have benefited enormously from his presence at the occasion.

“It is a sad indictment of the security arrangements surrounding his visit that allowed a handful of an unruly mob to hamper the visit planned to exercise his democratic right to meet and greet the public. In fact, the nation was waiting to see what message the Prime Minister had for the people of Punjab whom he holds in the highest esteem.” the statement by the British Sikh Association read.

It also praised the Prime Minister for his role in the opening of the Kartarpur Corridor and for using Indian diplomatic representations to promote the teachings and lives of the Sikh Gurus across the world. The statement, written by Lord Rami Ranger CBE, also notes PM Modi’s commemoration of Guru Nanak Dev, Guru Gobind Singh, and Guru Tegh Bahadur’s birth anniversaries.

Recognizing PM Modi’s reverence to the Sikh Gurus, the statement read “On an unparalleled scale, I recall how the Prime Minister celebrated the 550th birth anniversary of the founder of the Sikh faith Guru Nanak Dev Ji. In the same way, the 350th birth anniversary of the tenth Guru Gobind Singh Ji and the 400th birth anniversary of the ninth Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was acknowledged and celebrated through the efforts of Modi Ji. No other Indian Prime Minister has shown such reverence to the Sikh Gurus.”

The statement is written by Lord Rami Ranger CBE

In a major declaration, the British Sikh Association also highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision of the removal of three farm laws. “As a mark of respect for the Punjab farmers, Prime Minister Modi revoked the three farm bills enacted democratically by the Parliament. If anything, the people of Punjab should have shown their respect and gratitude to the Prime Minister for taking back those contentious bills that too on the birthday of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.” the statement read.

The British Sikh Association has urged leaders of Punjab to apologise to Prime Minister Modi. “I urge the leaders of Punjab to extend an unequivocal apology to the Prime Minister and show their utmost remorse for the way he had to cut short his visit. It is worth noting that the Prime Minister does not depend on Punjab for his strength in Parliament. In fact, Punjab depends on the Prime Minister’s goodwill for its future development. Being a border State, Punjab needs the central government to help fight terrorism and the drug epidemic unleashed by India’s neighbour with dire consequences to future generations.” the statement adds.

PM Modi’s security breach

Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to Delhi on Wednesday (January 5) following a major security lapse. He was expected to launch projects worth Rs 42,750 crores and attend a joint BJP-PLC-SAD(D) rally in Ferozepur. Due to adverse weather, PM Modi was supposed to visit the National Martyrs Memorial by road rather than helicopter, according to the MHA. The Prime Minister’s convoy was halted by demonstrators some 30 kilometres from Hussainiwala, stranding him for 15-20 minutes on a flyover. The MHA called it a severe breach in the Prime Minister’s security, and his cavalcade was rerouted to Bathinda airport.

Punjab government appointed Viresh Kumar Bhawra as the new DGP of the state, replacing Siddharth Chattopadhyaya, who was made the DGP less than a month ago following the serious lapses in the PM’s security on his visit to Punjab.

Backlash against Javed Habib after ‘thook haircut’ videos emerged, Karni Sena protests, Bhopal BJP MLA calls for boycott

On Sunday morning, members of Shri Rajput Karni Sena protested in front of Salon franchises owned by Hair-stylist Javed Habib, whose act of spiting in the hair of a woman while a demonstration has created a controversy. Large protests erupted on Sunday in Madhya Pradhesh with BJP MLA from Bhopal Rameshwar Sharma giving calls for boycotting Javed’s brand in a public meet.

Protestors from Karni Sena also took out bike rallies near Javed Habib outlets in Vijay Nagar and Tukoganj in Indore. Karni Sena district President Rishiraj Singh Sisodia, while talking to reporters, claimed that Habib had insulted women by his act of spitting. He said he will ensure not to let stores linked to Habib operate in Indore and to make him suffer financially. “The signboards bearing the name of Habib will be pulled down and destroyed. The administration can take whatever action it wants against us”, said Sisodiya.

Kamlesh Sharma, station in-charge at Tukoganj police clarified that no salon was vandalised during the protests. However, it was Amit Dantre who runs a Jawed Habib store in Tukoganj, Indore who openly came out and expressed his displeasure over Habib’s act and has decided to give up his franchise to set up a new establishment. “As the incident sparked row, we have changed the branding of our salon in honour of women. I had taken the franchise of Jawed Habib 6-7 years ago and left the franchise after this incident.” Dantre added.

In another incident, Rameshwar Sharma, the BJP MLA from Bhopal’s Huzur Assembly seat, gave calls for boycotting Javed Habib’s salons. “How are people behaving? They spit in food and even on women’s hairs. Hindus should spit on those who believe in the culture of spitting. No one should go to outlets of those who spit. Instead, you should spit there,” Sharma said while addressing a crowd in Bairagarh.

On January 06, a video had emerged on social media of Javed Habib spitting in the hair of a woman he was styling during a hair-styling workshop. Following the incident, a case was registered against him in Muzaffarnagar by the victim. Following the outrage, another video of Habib spitting on another woman’s hair and gone viral on social media. The National Commission for Women had taken cognizance of the issue and said that the apology issued by Habib did not seem like an apology at all.

The way Article 370 was abrogated, and the construction for the majestic Ram Mandir has commenced… (The day is not far when) the name of the erstwhile Nizam will be removed. Even the name of Owaisi will be removed. The day is not far.”

Earlier in the day, Himanta Biswa Sarma had announced his arrival at the Hyderabad airport. In a tweet, the Assam CM wrote, “While BJP Telangana President Shri Bandi Sanjay Kumar ji received me inside the airport, thousands of BJP (Telangana) Karyakartas lined up outside chanting ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’.”

He added, “The enthusiastic reception at Hyderabad proved how the people of Telangana are fed up with the misrule of TRS government and are yearning for a change.” Several BJP leaders, including Devendra Fadnavis, are scheduled to visit the Southern State to oppose the recently passed Government Order (GO) 317. Under the new ‘zonal’ system of job allocation, teachers can be transferred to the allocated location based on favouritism instead of seniority and nativity.

The protest against GO 317

BJP has been protesting against the controversial order of GO 317 that laid down the guidelines on employee transfer. MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar had called for a protest against the order on January 2. The police, in its statement, alleged there was no permission for the protests. Along with BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar, 150 party workers were detained by the Police.
