‘Industry kids are not targeted but outsiders are’: Actress Esha Gupta speaks up about casting couch in Bollywood

Actress Esha Gupta has spoken up about Casting Couch in Bollywood. In a recent interview, she has revealed that she does not get a lot of work because she would not consent to trade sex for roles. She made the comments during an interview with Bollywood Bubble.

Esha Gupta said about Casting Couch during the interview, “Yeah, two people, They’ve done that to me. One of them, well I did the film still. Because it was a little sly move. I think they also expected an outdoor shoot, we’ll just be really nice to her, things may change then. But I am also really smart, I said I am not going to sleep alone. I used to make my makeup artist sleep in the room with me. I said ‘Oh I am scared, I won’t sleep’. But, it’s not the ghosts that you are scared of, it’s the person. Because you never know when they…You also dont want to be disrespectful.”

She continued, “But the problem is also they only do it to us, they won’t do it to the industry kids because there their parents will come and kill you. But to us, they would do thinking she wants work. So eventually I saw a very dirty side of the person I worked with because they became very vindictive when they realised that ‘shit she is not going to do anything’. Because that is the only film where my mother also went with me.”

Regarding her second experience, Esha Gupta revealed,  “Then there was where halfway through the film, the co-producer told the maker of the film, ‘I dont want her in the movie. Why is she there?’ This is after 4-5 days of starting the shoot. He said, ‘No she is my Heroine.’ The maker came to me and asked ‘Did this happen with this guy?’ and I looked at him and laughed saying yes sir.” Consequently, she realised it was because she had refused to have sex with him.

She also said, “There are also people who dont give me work because they say, ‘She is not going to do anything, what’s the point?’ But you realise that you make your own way.”

Esha Gupta has acted in movies such as Jannat 2 and Raaz 3. Rockstar actress Nargis Fakhri had also opened up about Casting Couch in Bollywood and revealed that she had lost jobs because she would not sleep with the director.

UP Govt seizes property worth crores from Haji Galla, the kingpin of Meerut’s infamous car theft syndicate

0

The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has, until now, seized properties worth Rs 10 crores belonging to Haji Galla alias Haji Naeem, the kingpin of Meerut’s auto theft syndicate. On Saturday (October 23) alone, Meerut police seized Haji Galla’s luxurious bungalow worth Rs 4 crore 10 lakh on the orders of the district magistrate. Moreover, his eight big shops were also seized and all his bank accounts were frozen.

Earlier, on Wednesday, October 20, the police had seized two residences and a warehouse belonging to Haji Galla.

The Meerut police, however, feel that this is just the tip of the iceberg and that Haji Galla still has Benami properties worth crores spread across UP. “We cannot give a figure at this point as to how much Galla is worth, but there are still a number of properties like shops in Sotiganj Market and a 1,200 sq yard land in Cantt area which are not under his name, but we believe belong to him. We are looking at his benami properties as well,” said additional superintendent of police Suraj Rai, who is spearheading the investigation.

Meerut police seizing properties belonging to Haji Galla

In addition, the Uttar Pradesh government has launched an investigation into 32 junkyards in Meerut’s Sotiganj Kabadi Bazar which are believed to be associated with Haji Galla aka Haji Naeem. Reports suggest that the Meerut police invoked the Gangster Act against the notorious scrap dealers who have been aiding Haji Galla in his car breaking business in Meerut.

Intense raids were conducted and a reward of Rs 25,000 and an attachment warrant was issued by the Meerut police, which compelled history-sheeter Haji Galla and his four sons to surrender before the court on October 7.

Following Haji Galla’s arrest, the Meerut police started secretly keeping a watch on 32 junkyards of Meerut’s Sotiganj Kabadi Bazar which used to cut up stolen vehicles. Complete evidence was collected and it was found that they have illegally made property worth about Rs 48 billion. Based on the evidence collected, the Meerut police began the crackdown on Meerut’s biggest car breaking business.

Who is history-sheeter Haji Galla

According to reports, for decades, Haji Galla’s family has been leading the business of stolen vehicles in the infamous Sotiganj Market of Meerut. Cars from several states like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab but especially from NCR-Delhi were brought here and dismantled in no time. Haji Galla started his career as a car mechanic. Soon he started running one of the countries biggest car theft syndicates.

Haji Galla, the notorious car

His gang rose to infamy after mastering the art of dismantling cars in 15 minutes flat. It is believed that even if it took 3 hours to get a car from NCR to Meerut, in the 15 minutes after that, it vanished without a trace. National Highway 58 was the lifeline of Haji Galla’s operations.

The profitable components of the cars were retained and sold in shops, while others are “transplanted” into other vehicles. Galla, 70, and his four sons have been running this illegal yet extremely lucrative car-breaking business for decades.

Haji Galla escaped the police because of his strong political connection in the previous regime: Meerut Police

Galla, who was carrying a cash reward on his head had been evading the police for the last 15 years. The police said that many times prior to this they got their hands on the history-sheeter, but because of his strong political connection in the previous regime, he escaped arrest.

Meerut police raid Haji Galla’s scrapyards

According to the police, action against Galla began on February 27 when his son, Mohammad Shadab, opened fire on Arman Ahmad, a rival scrap dealer, in a dramatic shootout in the city. The incident, in which a bystander, Ajay Kumar, was tragically injured, almost pushed the city to the brink of communal riots.

Galla was eventually apprehended near his home in Sotiganj late on the night of October 6, after a reward of Rs 25,000 was placed on him by senior superintendent of police Manzil Saini.

He was apprehended for the first time in February 2015, after having been an absconder for 12 years. His political ties had, however, ensured his immediate release. Galla is notoriously known for his involvement in auto theft syndicates that operates throughout the northern states of the country. He was charged with violating the National Security Act (NSA) in 2006.

According to circle officer, Cantonment, Satpal Antil, a total of 27 criminal cases, including murder cases, have been filed against Galla. Some of which are registered in Delhi itself. Meerut SSP Manzi! Saini said that now since he has been arrested in the murder case, his other illegal activities and previous cases filed against him will also be dealt with.

Turkey goes bananas, to deport 7 Syrian refugees over banana eating controversy

7 Syrian refugees are set to be deported from Turkey over a banana controversy. After a Turkish citizen complained that Syrian refugees could afford bananas while he cannot, it sparked a massive controversy in the aftermath of which the Syrian refugees will be deported for “provocatively” sharing images of themselves eating bananas.

“You’re living more comfortably. I can’t eat banana, you are buying kilograms of banana,” the Turkish man told a Syrian student in the video that was captured in Istanbul on the 17th of October. Soon, he was joined by a Turkish woman who accused Syrians of living in extravagant fashion instead of joining the fight in Syria.

Soon after, a social media trend gained momentum with Syrians sharing images of themselves eating bananas in response to the comment.

Subsequently, the videos sparked a reaction from Turkish extremists on social media who claimed that it was time to “shoot and kill” Syrians.

10 days since the first video was captured, on the 27th of October, the Turkish migration authority issued a statement saying, “Seven foreign nationals have been rounded up in a probe over the provocative social media posts and they will be processed for deportation.”

Thane Court issues non-bailable warrant against former Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh in extortion case

A non-bailable warrant has been issued against ‘absconding’ former Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh in connection with an extortion case. The Chief Judicial Magistrate of Thane issued the non-bailable warrant against Singh after Mumbai Police Crime Branch had approached the court seeking the same.

The warrant issued on October 26 states that Parambir Singh is charged with offences under sections 386, 387, 389, 392, 324, 323, 506, 506(2), 166, 109, 120b, of the Indian Penal Code and under section 3.25 of the Arms Act. The warrant directs the Thanenagar Police to arrest Parambir Singh and produce him before the court.

As many as four extortion cases were filed against Parambir Singh after he was removed from the post of Mumbai Police Commissioner and appointed as the Director General of Maharashtra Home Guard. Apart from Singh, extortion cases were also filed against other cops including dismissed police officer Sachin Waze.

Out of the four cases, one was registered at the Marine Drive Police station, on the complaint of a builder named Shyam Sunder Agarwal, while the rest three were filed in Thane on the complaints of Shyam Sunder Agarwal’s nephew Sharad Agarwal, builder Ketan Tanna, businessman Bimal Agrawal.

Last month, the Maharashtra govt had said that Parambir Singh is missing, and home minister Dilip Walse Patil had said that his govt is trying to locate him after reports claimed that Singh had fled to Russia. The home minister had said that the investigating agencies suspect that Singh has fled the country, adding that the agencies have no information on his location.

Param Bir Singh is on leave from his post since May 5, citing health issues. Since then, he had sought several extensions of his leave by sending communications to the state govt. His last communication was in the second week of August, seeking an extension of leave till August 29. However, there has been no communication from him after that.

Parambir Singh is also facing NIA probe in the Antilia bomb scare case and the Mansukh Hiren murder case, where Sachin Vaze is already arrested. Once a favourite police officer of the Uddhav Thackeray led Maharashtra govt, Parambir Singh was removed from his post after the arrest of Sachin Vaze in the Antilia bomb scare case. After he was transferred as the Director General of Home Guards, he had written a letter to the CM, alleging that former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh had ordered the police to collect Rs 100 crore per month from various businesses in Mumbai. The same claim was also made by Sachin Vaze in a letter written to NIA earlier.

After the allegations by both the cops, Anil Deshmukh had resigned from the post after HC had ordered CBI probe against him. The former home minister is ‘missing’ after that.

Aryan Khan granted bail by Bombay High Court, know when will he be released from jail

Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan has been granted bail by the Bombay High Court on Thursday, 28 October.

As per reports, after 3-days of hearing, the Bombay High Court has finally granted bail to Aryan Khan, Munmun Dhamecha and Arbaz Merchant in the cruise ship drug bust case.

Justice NW Sambre of the High Court stated that bail is allowed in the case of the three arrested individuals and the detailed order in the matter will be given later.

Aryan Khan, Arbaz and Dhamecha were arrested by NCB on October 3, following a raid on the cruise ship Cordelia in Mumbai by the bureau on October 2.

After the bail order was granted, former Advocate General Mukul Rohatgi, who had appeared for Aryan stated that the formal order of the HC will be given on Friday, October 29.

Rohatgi stated that after the court gives the formal detailed order tomorrow, hopefully, Aryan, Arbaz and Munmun can walk out of jail by tomorrow or by Saturday.

NCB had argued against the bail application, saying that Aryan had tried to procure drugs in commercial quantities.

Aryan, Arbaz and Munmun had moved to the Bombay High Court on October 20 after the NDPS court in Mumbai refused to grant bail.

The NCB had arrested over a dozen people in the cruise ship drug case. NCB had stated in Court that Aryan Khan has international links and has been in contact with drug peddlers.

The Court had noted that no drugs were found on Aryan’s person, though the NCB had stated that he was aware that Arbaz had concealed drugs in his shoes.

ASG Anil Singh had argued against the bail application.

Firecracker issue temporary, stubble burning problem is the main issue: Supreme Court

0

The Supreme Court while hearing the firecracker ban case Thursday observed that the issue of firecrackers is a temporary issue and that the main matter is related to stubble burning. Acknowledging that the court did not get time to hear the issue, the two-judge bench of Justices MR Shah and AS Bopanna said that they’ll take up the issue for hearing after Diwali vacation.

The Supreme Court made the aforementioned observation while hearing an application alleging violation of the order dated February 10, 2017, banning the use of certain chemicals that were dangerous and beyond the safety limits in the fireworks by the manufacturers.

“We want to send a message that we are here to protect the rights of people. We have not put a 100 per cent ban on firecrackers. Everybody knows what the people of Delhi are suffering”, observed the bench.

As observed by the apex court, stubble burning in neighbouring states like Punjab and Haryana is one of the route causes for the deteriorating pollution levels in the national capital.

Stubble burning in Punjab causes Delhi air quality to dip to ‘very poor’

While Arvind Kejriwal continued his crackdown on the Hindu festival on the pretext of pollution management, OpIndia had reported how the air quality in the national capital had deteriorated to ‘very poor’, after farmers in Punjab started the yearly ritual of stubble burning.

According to SAFAR (System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research), the share of stubble burning in Delhi’s pollution has gone up to 14%.

Arvind Kejriwal govt issues bans on firecrackers during Diwali

Meanwhile, on the occasion of this year’s Diwali festival too, the Kejriwal government in Delhi has issued a complete ban on firecrackers in the name of pollution control. While the Delhi Police initiated a crackdown on the sale and distribution of firecrackers this festive season after the Kejriwal-led government imposed a complete ban on the sale and bursting of all forms of firecrackers till January 1, 2022, the firecracker sellers had slammed the Delhi government’s reckless decision saying: “If Diwali will not be celebrated in India then do we expect it to be celebrated in Pakistan?”

Are we celebrating a festival or mourning someone’s death? We have to beg the Supreme Court to allow us to sell crackers on Diwali living in India,” a trader had said responding to Kejriwal’s decision.

The furious sellers had also questioned the AAP government that how is just a single-day festival responsible for causing pollution in the capital city.

NCW seeks strict action after male security guard was seen cutting sleeves of dress of a female candidate outside an exam centre in Rajasthan

A female cop cuts long sleeves of a top worn by a woman ahead of RAS 2021 exam

The National Commission for Women has sought strict action after a male security guard was seen cutting the sleeves of a dress worn by a girl during the Rajasthan Administrative Services examination on Wednesday. Referring to a photograph from an exam centre in Bikaner, the NCW has asked the Rajasthan government to take strict action against those responsible for violating the right of women to live with dignity, and asked why female security guards were not deputed to check female candidates.

The NCW has said that it has come across an outrageous media post wherein a male security guard can be seen cutting the sleeves of a top worn by a female candidate outside an examination centre for Rajasthan Administrative Services, 2021 in Bikaner district, and it is appalled at the reported incident. “It is utterly humiliating to make women go through such harassment and NCW strongly condemns the shameful incident. The Commission has taken suo motu cognizance in the matter,” a statement issued by the commission said.

The statement issued by NCW

It added that NCW chairperson Rekha Sharma has written to the chief secretary of the Rajasthan govt seeking strict action against those responsible for the act. The commission has also demanded an explanation as to why no female guard was deputed to search female candidates at the centre.

Earlier in the day, NCW chairperson Rekha Sharma had posted a tweet with a newspaper clip, where the photograph from Bikaner was publish showing a security guard cutting the sleeves of a dress of a female candidate. “How can they cut clothes of girls in the name of controling cheating? This is atrocious,” she had said, and told CM Ashok Gehlot that he must stop this dictate.

Even though the NCW is only talking about one incident, such incidents happened across the state on Wednesday during the RAS Preliminary exams. Reportedly, candidates were told that full sleeves will be not allowed during the exams, apparently to prevent cheating, and full sleeves of dresses worn by female candidates were cut by security guards outside several exam centres.

However, photos of other such incidents show that the sleeves of dresses of women were cut by female security guards in most other places. The instructions issued to the candidates for the exam had stated that both male and female

Rajasthan government has been taking extreme steps in recent times to prevent cheating in examinations. They had shut down mobile internet services, social media and messaging platforms to prevent their misuse by the candidates.

Relief for NCB officer Sameer Wankhede at Bombay high court, police to give him 3-day notice before arrest in extortion case

0

The Bombay High Court on Thursday dismissed a petition by NCB officer Sameer Wankhede where he had requested that any investigation against him should be conducted only by CBI or NIA, and not by Mumbai Police. The court dismissed the petition after the Maharashtra govt assured the court that Sameer Wankhede will be given advance notice of 72 hours before he is arrested in an extortion case the police is probing against him.

Sameer Wankhede, who is heading the high-profile cruise ship drug case, had approached the high court saying that he has apprehension that he will be arrested by Maharashtra police. He had requested the case against him should be given to CBI or NIA, and the police should not be allowed to proceed against him under section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption act.

However, the public prosecutor representing Maharashtra Police opposed the plea, saying that it is premature as no FIR has been registered in the case yet and the investigation has just started. The state govt had requested the court to adjourn the matter for tomorrow, but the court refused, saying everything can’t be delayed like this. The court said that either the state govt will have to assure that no coercive action will be taken or else the court will pass an order.

After this, the state govt assured the court notice of 72 hours will be given to Sameer Wankhede if they register any case against him and arrest him. On getting this assurance, the court of Justice Nitin Jamdar and Justice SV Kotwal dismissed the petition by the NCB officer, saying that the court is not commenting on the merits of the case.

After NCB had busted a rave party at a cruise ship in Mumbai and arrested Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan, the Maharashtra govt, especially the NCP, has launched a campaign against Narcotics Control Bureau’s Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede. The police had launched a probe against him after NCB’s independent witness Prabhakar Sail had claimed that NCB had demanded Rs. 25 crore from Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan and Rs. 8 crore out of the 25 crore was to be paid to Sameer Wankhede. NCB has already ordered a vigilance enquiry on the allegations.

In the meanwhile, minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik has launched a personal attack on the NCB zonal director, bringing his sister, former wife into the matter and questioning his scheduled caste status.

Maharashtra Police arrests witness in Aryan Khan drug case in a 3-year-old case, witness was to record statement in coming days

0

The Pune city police on Thursday morning arrested Kiran  P Gosavi, in connection with a cheating case lodged in 2018.

Gosavi, whose photographs with Aryan Khan had gone viral on social media after the latter’s arrest, is an independent witness of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in the Cordelia cruise ship drug bust case on October 2 involving Aryan Khan.

As per reports, on May 29, 2018, one Chinmay Deshmukh, a resident of Kasba Peth of Pune had lodged a complaint against him at Faraskhana police station. The complainant alleged that Gosavi cheated Rs 3.09 lakh from him in the name of providing a job in Malaysia. Police had booked him under sections 419 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code and sections of the Information Technology Act. He has been facing four FIRs pending at different police stations in Maharashtra. Pune police had earlier arrested his assistant Sherbano Kureshi in the cheating case.

Commissioner of Pune City police Amitabh Gupta confirmed his arrest stating that the charge sheet, in this case, was filed in 2019. “If we get more complaints against him, we will register fresh offices against him,” he added.

But, the timing of his arrest has fuelled suspicion as attempts are being allegedly made to derail the probe by a powerful lobby of Bollywood and politicians from Maharashtra. However, referring to his arrest the Commissioner of Police said that there was no politics involved in that matter. The Pune police said that no agency so far has contacted to hand over Kiran to them. Pune police said that any agency seeking his custody can approach the court for the same.

The Pune police have stated that Gosavi had gone missing after 2019 and surfaced as an NCB witness in the cruise ship drug case. Interestingly, as per reports, Gosavi was incommunicado after his photos surfaced with Aryan Khan.

Gosavi travelled to Pune on Wednesday and told the media that he was going to appear before NCB in Mumbai to record his statement in connection with an inquiry against NCB Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede. But he was arrested before he could move to Mumbai.

The drug probe case has been under relentless political attacks, especially by NCP leader and minister Nawab Malik. Malik’s own son-in-law was arrested in an NCB drug case in January this year and remained in jail for over 8 months. It is being said that Malik’s repeated personal attacks against NCB officer Sameer Wankhede and attempt to derail the cruise ship drug bust case are indicative of a personal vendetta by the minister.

The NCB had earlier alleged that Pooja Dadlani, manager of Shah Rukh Khan had tried to influence witnesses. Prabhakar Sail was also among the witnesses of the NCB in this high-profile drug case. He had turned hostile and made extortion allegations against the NCB. He had claimed that NCB demanded Rs. 25 crores from Shah Rukh Khan to settle this case. He claimed that Rs. 8 crores out of the 25 crores were to be paid to Sameer Wankhede.

Gosavi says Prabhakar Sail is lying

Ahead of his arrest Gosavi made a video statement and said that Prabhakar Sail was lying. He said that whatever allegations he has made are false. “Who spoke with Sam D’Souza? And who took how much money? What are the offers Prabhakar Sail received in the last five days? This all will be clearly understood from his call and chat records,” he said.

He demanded the CDR reports, chat record and mobile conversation of Prabhakar Sail and his brother after October 2 must be checked and released.  “Prabhakar must have deleted records but that can be recovered. Check my mobile chats too if I had asked Prabhakar to bring money from one place to another. I have a business of import and export and before (October 2), I might have asked Prabhakar,” Gosavi said.

Without naming Nawab Malik Gosavi alleged that a politician was behind all of this. He said that if Mumbai Police has taken up the case, police should also check which minister or politician is behind all of this.
