Aryan Khan spending time in jail reading books on Ram and Sita is Sanjay Dutt redux: Here is how

0

Actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan is currently lodged in Mumbai Central Jail in connection to the ongoing drug case. Reports suggest that Aryan Khan has been spending his time reading a couple of books in prison. While one book is fiction, the other book, according to the sources quoted by the Free Press Journal, is based on Ram and Sita.

The sources said, “Aryan demanded books from the jail officers. Accordingly, the authorities helped him to borrow a book from the jail library, which was a religious one. The jail library has hundreds of books bought by prison authorities as well as those brought in by inmates and left in the library after they are released.”

Some inmates are allowed to get books from relatives as well, but those have to be related to religious matters, said a source from the jail administration. Aryan’s afternoons and evenings go by while reading books. For security reasons, jail authorities have not allowed him to interact with the general inmates. “There is also a TV in the barrack for all the inmates. Usually, they watch the news and Olympics or cricket matches and movies on weekends. Inmates also play volleyball and football on weekends. But for security reasons, Aryan is not allowed to mix with the general inmates,” said the sources.

Actor Sanjay Dutt had taken refuge in religious books

Notably, actor Sanjay Dutt, who was jailed for 42 months in 2013 in connection to the 1993 Bombay blast case, also took refuge in the religious books during his stay. As per the reports, he was allowed to take copies of Bhagwad Gita, Ramayan and Hanuman Chalisa into the jail. He was initially lodged in Arthur Road Central Prison and later shifted to Yerwada jail in Pune. He was released eight months early in February 2016 on account of good conduct.

ED starts money laundering probe against Syro-Malabar Church head Cardinal George Alencherry in land deal case

0

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has launched a money-laundering probe against Cardinal George Alencherry, Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Church, in a case related to a series of land deals executed by the archdiocese to settle a loan of Rs Rs.58.2 Crores obtained from South Indian Bank.

The deals are all about selling 3.06 acres of land under possession of Ernakulam-Angamaly archdiocese in Kochi district of Kerala. The land sold between April 2013-March 2018 was expected to fetch Rs 27 Crores to the archdiocese but it could get only Rs 9 Crores. The property situated near Bharat Mata College at Thrikkakkara was sold to a real-estate broker Saju Varghese Kunnel.

The ED has registered an ECIR (equivalent to FIR) based on an already existing FIR registered by the local police. The agency is learned to have summoned Joshy Varghese for his appearance on October 28 to record his statement, who is among the complainants in the case.

The ED is probing whether money laundering was involved in the deal. The ED has concrete grounds to launch the probe which will further bring serious problems for George Alencherry who is also the head of Ernakulam-Angamaly Archdiocese.

The Income-Tax Department had slapped a fine of Rs 3.5 crore as the probe revealed that while executing the deals, the diocese showed the price of land much lower than the existing market rate.

The ED has decided to take up the probe after the Kerala High Court on August 12 dismissed all seven petitions filed by Cardinal Alencherry seeking to quash the cases. George Alencherry, who is considered the most powerful religious head in South India, tried his best by using his influences and fought prolonged legal battles to save his skin.

It was Joshy Varghese who had filed a complaint in 2018 before the Judicial First Class Magistrate, Kakkanad alleging commission of offences under Section 120 B, 406, 409, 418, 420, 423, 465, 467, 468 and 34 IPC against George Alencherry and another. The lower court took cognizance of the offence under Section 120 B, 406, 423 and 34 of IPC.

The Syro-Malabar Catholic Church is one of the 22 Eastern Catholic Churches under Rome and it is said to have around 55 lakh followers. The scandal triggered unrest among priests of the archdiocese. Even the internal inquiry by the church in this matter had revealed gross criminal misconduct by Alencherry and other church officials.

India takes on Pakistan in T20 World Cup and we can’t keep calm: Here are some of the funniest memes ahead of the match

Ahead of the T20 World Cup match between India and Pakistan that is scheduled to take place on Sunday (October 24), social media is abuzz with memes. Netizens, who are waiting in anticipation of the crucial match, have taken to the micro-blogging site to tickle your funny bones.

One Devi Prasad Rao tweeted a picture of a TV set, caged using iron grills, to prevent any damage to it in the aftermath of India Vs Pakistan match. In the past, Pakistani fans had destroyed their TV to vent out anger for their team’s loss against India.

Another Twitter user pointed out that it might be the last night for several TV sets.

One Smrati Dubey tweeted an image from ‘Mahabharata’ serial to express how Indian fans have been waiting for sunset.

Another Twitter user showed how India is going to decimate the Pakistani side both on the ground and on social media.

A Twitter user (@immortalsoulin) morphed a picture of Pakistani captain Babar Azam and affixed it onto the image of AAK Niazi who publicly surrendered to the Indian forces during the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War.

Another user pointed out how infighting might break within the Pakistan dressing room after an expected loss to India.

Twitter user Juliet 2.0 pointed out how Pakistan is enthusiastic to play a weak team such as Zimbabwe after seeing India’s batting lineup.

Another user (@Shubham00778642) posted a video of Imad Wasim pleading to Virat Kohli with folded hands after being smashed for four during the 2019 World Cup. He pointed out that the scenes might repeat again on Sunday.

India is going to play its first group stage match against Pakistan in the ongoing T20 world cup in the United Arab Emirates. The match is slated to begin at 7.30 p.m. (IST) on Sunday.

Citizens prefer to get Covid-19 vaccines for free, private hospitals return doses as they find no takers for paid vaccines

On October 21, India crossed the monumental milestone of 100 crore-mark in administering Covid-19 vaccines. The Indian healthcare system administered 100 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine in less than 10 months, which should be a matter of pride for all Indians.

But the left-liberals are still not happy, who are never happy with any achievement of the country under the Modi government. They first started claiming that it is not a major achievement, as most Indians have only got one dose of the two-dose vaccines, and the share of fully vaccinated people is low.

They got another ammunition to attack the Modi govt after PM Modi addressed the nation on October 22 to talk about this monumental achievement. When the prime minister said that India administered 100 crore doses of Covid-19 for free, the left-liberals jumped to accuse him of lying by saying that they, or someone they know, had to pay for the vaccine as they chose to get the jab at private hospitals.  The Quint even published an article fact-checking PM Modi by telling him that not all 100 crore covid-19 jabs were given for free.

But these forever critics of the Modi govt fail to recognise that those who paid for the vaccine at private hospitals, did it on their own choice. Vaccines are available for free at the govt hospitals from the beginning, and people have the option of either getting the same at govt hospitals for free or at private hospitals against payments.

During the first phase of vaccination that started on January 16, healthcare and frontline workers in the fight against Covid-19 were given the shots for free. In the second phase, people above 60 years of age, and people over 45 with specified comorbidities were vaccinated for free by the govt, starting from March. A month later, everyone above 45 years was included for free vaccination by the central govt.

The third phase began on May 1, which also extended the vaccine eligibility to everyone above 18. By this time, non-NDA chief ministers like Uddhav Thackeray, Arvind Kejriwal, Mamata Banerjee etc were demanding that the state govts also should be allowed to procure vaccines and vaccinate people in their states on their own.

There were also demands that private hospitals also should be allowed to vaccinate people who are willing to pay. In fact, some of the same people who are now saying that the entire 100 crore doses were not given for free, were demanding that rich people should be allowed to pay for vaccines, including the expensive imported Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.

The Modi govt had accepted the demand and decided that the central govt will procure 50% of the vaccines produced by Indian vaccine makers which will be used to vaccinate people above 45, while the rest 50% will be procured by state governments and private hospitals, where people aged between 18 to 45 years will be vaccinated, for free or against payment.

But this had proved to be a disaster, as the states were not able to procure enough vaccines, as the production of vaccines were limited, and the foreign manufacturers refused to sell the vaccine to provincial governments, due to high demand from all over the world. During this period, demand for vaccines had skyrocketed as the eligible population increased substantially due to the inclusion of the 18-45 age group.

Vaccine supplies to various states were erratic during this period, and in some places, some people did opt to get the vaccine at private hospitals, if it was available there and not in govt hospitals. But this was a temporary period, and the problem was largely caused by the demands of non-NDA parties and left-liberal activists who had demanded a ‘decentralised’ vaccination program.

After the states failed to run the decentralised vaccination program, the Modi govt reverted to centralised vaccination for the entire population above 18 from June 21, and since then the program has been running smoothly, achieving new milestones every few weeks. Expansion of production capacity by the manufacturers also helped.

The success of the centralised vaccination program, hated and criticised by the left-liberals, is proved by the fact that even though the private hospitals are allowed to procure upto 25% of the total vaccines produced, they are unable to find enough takers for it. In fact, outside the metropolitan cities, where the super-rich live, there is hardly any vaccination by private hospitals in the rest of the country.

According to a report by The Hindu in August, private hospitals had procured less than 10% of vaccines, against the eligible 25%. Most of them were in states with high per capita income, and the share was less than 5% in most of the states. As the vaccinations in government hospitals grew in recent months, the procurement by private hospitals has come down even further.

Unable to clear the stock of already procured vaccines before their expiry dates, the private hospitals are selling them to other hospitals at the purchase price, and waiving the service fee that they charge apart from the specified price. Many hospitals have stopped charging the allowed Rs 150 service fee and charging only the price, because there are not enough people coming to get the Covid-19 vaccine to them as they can get them without cost at govt hospitals. Now people can even walk in to a govt vaccination centre, without booking an appointment on the CoWIN platform.

In fact, a Moneycontrol report last month claimed that the government’s free vaccination drive has killed the Covid-19 vaccine market for private hospitals. It said that many hospitals are returning vaccines to state governments as there are no takers for them, while others were offering discounts upto 20% to clear their stocks.

The private hospitals admitted that as the availability of free vaccines have increased from July after the central govt took the responsibility of vaccinating everyone above 18, demand for Covid-19 vaccines in private hospitals has reduced significantly.

Even though the exact share of private hospitals in India’s Covid-19 vaccination program is not available in the public domain at present, according to information provided by the union health ministry last month, only around 6% of the vaccine doses were administered by the private hospitals since May 1.

Yesterday the ministry informed that over 105.78 crore vaccine doses have been provided to States and union territories. This means, even if there was no vaccination by the private hospitals, India’s vaccination would have still crossed the 1 billion mark at the around same time.

This shows that after some hiccups in May when the vaccines were made available for everyone above 18, free vaccination by the central government has been an immense success. Despite private hospitals allowed to procure upto 25% of the doses produced in India, they have not been able to lift even half of that share. And in recent months, they are having to return their stocks or offer them at a discount because free vaccines are available everywhere.

Did Sonu Sood send medicines for erectile dysfunction for a man seeking medicines for his mother? Here’s what happened

On October 23, actor Sonu Sood replied to a Twitter user Bhanu who had thanked him for sending medicine for his mother. However, the image of medicines provided by Sonu Sood and his foundation was quite intriguing.

Sonu Sood replied to Bhanu who received the medicines

One medicine in the quoted tweet drew the attention of the netizens that left them amused and shocked at the same time. Three packs of the medicine named Tadora-20 were in the photograph with the explicit image of a ‘love-making’ statue. The medicine that was supposed to be for the mother of the Twitter user is commonly used for treating erectile dysfunction in men.

Netizens’ funny reactions to the medicine

Twitter user anu_rnj wondered if Sood has turned into a Hakeem and sending medicines for ED.

Twitter user Devendra questioned if Sood wanted to fill the ‘youth with josh’.

Kasim confused the medicine with Viagra due to the similar functioning of the salt.

Twitter user ZEYA was amused seeing medicine for ED being delivered by Sood.

The medicine was prescribed by the doctor

We investigated a little bit to see what exactly happened and if Sonu Sood actually sent him the right medicine or there was a goof-up. First of all, the prescription for the patient has Tadact 20mg tablets as the first medicines prescribed. This particular medicine contains the salt Tadalafil.

Upon a little bit of search, we found that the salt is indeed used for erectile dysfunction. However, it is also used for treating high blood pressure in the lungs (pulmonary hypertension). The patient here is suffering from severe PAH or pulmonary arterial hypertension. Tadalafil is a phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE5) inhibitor that has been approved by experts for treating PAH.

The image that confused everyone

Here, it has to be noted that the doctor had prescribed Tadact-20 manufactured by IPCA pharmaceuticals. The box of this particular medicine looks like a regular medicine box without any explicit image on it.

However, it seems like the chemist who packed the medicines did not have the particular brand and went for the other brand Tadora 20, manufactured by German Remedies, a subsidiary of Zydus Cadila pharmaceuticals.

The pack of Tadora-20 has the particular explicit image that created the whole confusion.

Tadalafil is not Viagra

Viagra, though a brand name, is generally associated with the medicine for erectile dysfunction. Here, people confused Tadact-20 or Tadora-20 with Viagra, which is incorrect.

Viagra contains a salt named sildenafil citrate, which is used to treat erectile dysfunction in men. Calling Tadalafil Viagra is just like calling every detergent available in the market as Surf.

Sonu Sood and controversies revolving around him

Sonu Sood is not new to controversies. In September 2021, the IT department had raided several locations linked to Sood. After conducting searches for three days in a row, the IT department said Sood had evaded taxes to the tune of over Rs 20 crores. It has been alleged several times in the past that Sood used crisis during the Covid-19 pandemic for improving his image. In May 2021, when the demand for medical oxygen was at its peak, his team took help from BJP leader Tejaswi Surya’s office but while issuing a statement, was accused of taking all the credit for arranging oxygen.

Shoaib Akhtar confesses to deliberately bowling a beamer to MS Dhoni, despite knowing that it could cause grave injury: Watch video

On Friday (October 22), former Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Akhtar courted controversy after he confessed to bowling a ‘deadly beamer’ to Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni during the infamous Faisalabad Test match between India and Pakistan in 2006. He made the contentious comment during a talk show on Sports Tak.

The development came ahead of the much-anticipated T20 match between the two countries, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday (October 24). At about 17 minutes and 30 seconds into the programme, Akhtar recounted how his teammate suggested that he bowl a ‘beamer’ on the face of Harbajan Singh during the fourth match in the 2010 Asia Cup. It must be mentioned that Singh had hit the ace fast bowler for a six and bruised his ego.

Shoaib Akhtar then narrated how he had once deliberately tried to injure Mahendra Singh Dhoni during the 2006 Faisalabad Test match. He confessed, “I had made the same mistake with Dhoni in Faisalabad. I had thrown a beamer at him intentionally. Dhoni is such a nice guy and I respect him. I felt very bad about it. Yes, he is a good player who hit me for a few runs. Why did I decide to attack him (with a beamer)? If the ball would have hit Dhoni, he would have been grievously hurt (do-teen-paanch) in 2005 itself.”

During the second innings of the India-Pakistan match, MS Dhoni posted a mammoth personal score of 148 runs on the board. His innings included a total of 19 fours and 4 sixes. After being brutally hammered by MS Dhoni during the session, an agitated Shoaib Akthar vowed to hurt the Indian batsman-wicketkeeper gravely. The footage of the incident has been shared by Cricket Cloud on their Youtube channel. At about 3:58 seconds into the video, Akhtar could be seen throwing a deadly beamer at MS Dhoni at about 156km/hour speed. The Indian cricketer was fortunate enough to dodge it and escape unhurt.

It must be mentioned that bowling a beamer is illegal during a cricket match. In the said delivery, the ball does not bounce and is tossed high by the bowler. Such a delivery has the chance of causing fatal head and facial injuries to a batsman. While most of such beamers are delivered mistakenly, Shoaik Akhtar did it intentionally despite being fully aware of the possible consequences. A no-ball is awarded and the bowler gets a warning from the umpire. On repeating the same offence during the match, he can be barred from bowling in the rest of the match.

Shoaib Akhtar and his support for the Two nation theory

During the programme, Shoaib Akhtar also endorsed the bigoted ‘Two nation theory’, which ultimately led to the genocide of Hindus and the partition of India. It was first promulgated by Syed Ahmad Khan, the founder of the Aligarh Muslim University. The theory asserted that Muslims and Hindus form two separate nations that cannot coexist peacefully in one country.

The ace fast bowler had remarked, “I will not go deep into it. From the two-nation theory until now, there is a long history. We believe in the two-nation theory, I believe in it. We have an ideology. Ie we start talking about it, then it will go very far.”

Pakistani minister believes Imran Khan is more popular than PM Modi in India, netizens left amused

On October 23, during a press conference, Pakistani Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain claimed Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan is more popular than Prime Minister Narendra Modi in India. He further added that if Khan held a rally in India, it would attract a bigger crowd compared to what PM Modi could attract.

Fawad was answering to a question posed by a journalist. He said if the relationship between India and Pakistan improves, it would be beneficial for Pakistan as it would be able to provide a corridor between China and India via CPEC. “But at present, there is a Muslim-hating government in India. This is not something Pakistan is saying. A lot of independent leaders of the world are saying the same. Whether it was Gujarat, Assam or Kashmir, the Modi government has targeted Muslims and other minorities. It is because of his attitude that the relationship between India and Pakistan are not improving.”

He further said, “Otherwise, Imran Khan is so popular among the general public in India that if he does a rally in Delhi, it would be bigger compared to what PM Modi does. So the popularity of Imran Khan in India could have become a great chance to improve the relationship between India and Pakistan. Still, we could not do so because of Narendra Modi.”

Fawad once again cried over Kashmir and said, “The common man of India should think it over. It would be very beneficial. Give a solution to Kashmir. Give freedom to Kashmir. If you give freedom to Kashmir, it would be beneficial for Pakistan. It would be beneficial for India and the people of Kashmir as well.”

Netizens left amused over ‘Khan popular than PM Modi’ statement

His statement over the popularity of Imran Khan in India is being shared widely on social media platforms. Some even suggested that the statement was the visible result of “Pakistan govt’s bhang policy” which was approved in October 2020.

Journalist Naila Inayat said, “Imran Khan is very popular in India. If he holds a rally in Delhi today, it will be a bigger than PM Modi’s: Fawad Chaudhry. First results of govt’s bhang policy.”

Twitter user LotusBharat said how Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal also does not make such wild claims.

Another twitter user Nishit imagined the scenario if Indian actresses hold a rally in Pakistan. He said, “If katrina kaif/priyanka chopra holds a rally in #pakistan it will be bigger than Imran Khan aur log bhi maan jayenge ki tabdilli aa gayi.”

India Today’s journalist Gaurav Sawant said, “At least now there is clarity where the drugs are coming from.”

Pakistan stopped trade, not India

During the press conference, Fawad also alleged that it was India that stopped trade with Pakistan. However, things were the other way around. In August 2019, when India abolished Article 370 from Kashmir, Pakistan got irked and imposed a ban on trade with India. The prices of commodities like tomatoes spiked exponentially as the local produce was not enough to match the demand.

The situation got worse for the neighbouring country, and in April 2021, the Imran Khan-led government decided to lift the ban on trade with India. Imran Khan, as minister of Commerce, proposed to lift the ban. But there was a catch. Imran Khan himself flatly rejected the proposal from Imran Khan as the Prime Minister of Pakistan like if there were two persons living inside Khan.

TMC normalises and celebrates violence as it shows PM Modi, Amit Shah and a civilian being crushed by Mamata’s foot

Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool Congress seems to have blown the poll bugle in Goa with a political cartoon showing a woman, clad in white saree with blue strip, something which the West Bengal Chief Minister wears, crushing three people, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and one civilian under her slipper-wearing foot.

TMC’s Goa campaign

The image was shared with text “HATERS BEWARE! SHE IS COMING.” Here, ‘she’ is very likely TMC chief Mamata Banerjee. Essentially, with this image, TMC is not only normalising violence but even celebrating it.

The whole crushing someone under one’s feet would have been a creative metaphor had the post-poll violence in Bengal after TMC’s victory wasn’t a harsh reality. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has in its detailed report had mentioned how the widespread violence and targeted killings of so many BJP workers was not spontaneous but well-planned. The committee had informed that many supporters of a political party were forced to flee their homes due to a targeted attack. Houses were burnt and ransacked with the victims made to give in writing that they will not support a particular political party. The political party that was in power was Mamata Banerjee-ruled TMC.

There have been reports that the West Bengal police did not file FIRs in many cases and ignored complaints of victims. The High Court has directed that a Special Investigation Team, under the monitoring of the Court, should investigate the other criminal cases related to post-poll violence. There has been deafening silence from the ‘liberal’ section of the media as well as political spectrum against the brutality perpetrated on BJP supporters and workers.

BJP workers and supporters are dehumanised such that not only there is no condemnation on the barbarity but it is also encouraged and celebrated. These are the same set of people who sing paeans on how picture speaks a thousand words and how words lead to genocide. The same set of people are not absolutely okay with an image of Prime Minister of India, Home Minister of India and another civilian being crushed under foot of a woman – who shall not be named.

What they are doing is vilification and dehumanising, especially of BJP workers, which can then be used as grounds for genocide. Many BJP workers and supporters have either been killed in post-poll violence or they’ve fled Bengal fearing for their lives. But the ‘liberals’ are silent because ‘Sanghis’ deserve to die.

‘Sanghis’ are so dehumanised that wishing ill upon them is normalised. During the coronavirus pandemic second wave when the nation was gripped in oxygen crisis, there were people who would wish ‘Sanghis’ don’t get the oxygen needed and wished death upon their loved ones. That is how much the hate is normalised.

These are also the same people who cry ‘fascism’ at slightest discomfort under the Modi government. But maintain radio silence at these enablers of genocide because, well, they’re not ‘Sanghis’.

Pakistan: Woman presented as ‘Hoor’ at Eid Milad-un-Nabi procession in Multan, triggers outrage from Muslims

A ‘hoor’ was put on display on the occasion of Milad ul Nabi, the celebration of the birthday of Prophet Muhammad in Multan in Pakistan. The video of a girl presenting as a ‘Hoor’ in the procession of 12th Rabi ul Awal went viral on social media.

According to Islamic belief, the ‘hoors’ are virgin women in heaven who will accompany faithful Muslims there after their death. Quoting the Quran, it is believed that devout Muslims are given 72 hoors or houris in Jannat.

The Pakistani tableau showing ‘hoor’ on display invoked criticism and ridicule on the social media platform.

Reportedly, PTI member in Punjab Assembly Simabia Tahir has filed an adjournment motion in the Punjab Assembly against the girl for showcasing herself as a ‘hoor’ during the procession of 12th Rabi ul Awal.

The ‘hoor’ on display in the procession also triggered an outrage from one Salafi cleric who called upon the Muslim Ulema to take action against the video circulating on the social media,

He said, ‘Where are those people and the Ulema who issue Fatwa on simple things ? Here a girl is being paraded as a ‘hoor’ in Multan at the procession of 12th Rabi ul Awal.’ The Moulana objected to the fact the girl posing as a ‘hoor’ was without a Hijab in public. He said, ‘During this auspicious occasion women are dancing, people are doing Bhangras, and the girl sits there without Hijab.’ The Mullah also claimed that shameful videos like these were viral on social media and asked the Ulema if these were not ‘Haram’.

The cleric also slammed the Muslim clerics and authorities for their silence over the matter and said, ‘In the name of religion, you have taken out the funeral of religion.’

‘I believe in two-nation theory’: Shoaib Akhtar endorses AMU founder’s theory that caused partition after Harbhajan’s ‘we are one’ comment

Shoaib Akhtar in a talk show on Aaj Tak with Harbhajan Singh ahead of the India versus Pakistan T20 World Cup match on Sunday said that he believes in the two-nation theory that says Muslims form a separate nation. The two-nation theory was the basis of the creation of Pakistan.

The discussion on the matter began after Harbhajan Singh said that the relationship between cricketers from the two countries are hindered when players insult India, hinting at Pakistani players who have made obnoxious comments about India in the past.

“The problem begins when in any issue, a cricketer insults India, our flag. Then we have a problem. We know how much love there is between us but our people get angry with our friendship only when some senseless person makes some remark such as ‘Kashmir is ours’. Bhai, leave it to people responsible for these decisions. Our stature is not so great that we should delve into such matters,” Harbhajan Singh said.

While Harbhajan Singh appeared unwilling to take any names, the anchor pointed out that Shahid Afridi had made many such remarks. “One person says such then everyone suffers,” Singh added. He also said that people have told him to stop talking with Shoaib Akhtar because Akhtar is from Pakistan. And Singh said that it was legitimate for people to say that when Pakistanis insult India and the Indian flag.

Harbhajan Singh proceeded to say, “We are one. If you look at history, Indians and Pakistanis, we look the same. And why do we have so much hatred? Because we started playing against each other or because we make inappropriate remarks about each other? Why is that?”

Shoaib Akhtar said in response, “I will not go deep into it. From the two-nation theory until now, there is a long history. We believe in the two-nation theory, I believe in it. We have an ideology. Ie we start talking about it, then it will go very far.”

What The Two Nation Theory, endorsed by Shoaib Akhtar, says

The two nation theory was first promulgated by Syed Ahmad Khan, the founder of the Aligarh Muslim University. The theory asserts that Muslims and Hindus form two separate nations who cannot coexist peacefully in one country.

Syed Ahmad Khan said in 1876, “I am convinced now that Hindus and Muslims could never become one nation as their religion and way of life was quite distinct from each other.” Seven years later, he voiced similar sentiments. He said, “Friends, in India, there live two prominent nations which are distinguished by the names of Hindus and Mussalmans…To be a Hindu or a Muslim is a matter of internal faith which has nothing to do with mutual relationships and external conditions…Hence, leave God’s share to God and concern yourself with the share that is yours…India is the home of both of us…By living so long in India, the blood of both have [sic] changed.”

Twelve years later, he stated, “Now, suppose that the English community and the army were to leave India, taking with them all their cannons and their splendid weapons and all else, who then would be the rulers of India?… Is it possible that under these circumstances two nations—the Mohammedans and the Hindus—could sit on the same throne and remain equal in power? Most certainly not. It is necessary that one of them should conquer the other. To hope that both could remain equal is to desire the impossible and the inconceivable. But until one nation has conquered the other and made it obedient, peace cannot reign in the land.”

Poet Muhammad Iqbal took forward Syed Ahmed Khan’s idea and advocated for the creation of Pakistan as well. He said, “India is a continent of human beings belonging to different languages and professing different religions…I, therefore, demand the formation of a consolidated Muslim state in the best interests of the Muslims of India and Islam.”

The ideology ultimately led to the formation of Pakistan and the genocide of Hindus that followed.
