‘Messiah’ in trouble: BMC files case against Sonu Sood over Juhu property

Sonu Sood, who recently released a book titled “I am no messiah” is in trouble. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has filed a case against him for allegedly converting a six-story residential building to a hotel without getting required permissions.

It has to be noted that the case first caught the limelight in 2019 when Mid Day reported that BMC had returned Sood’s application for approval to convert the residential building to lodging services. At that time, BMC had demanded several compliances.

‘Sonu Sood converted residential building into a hotel without permissions’: BMC

On January 4, BMC filed a complaint with Juhu Police in which they stated that Sonu Sood had converted the Shakti Sagar residential building on AB Nair Road, Juhu into a hotel without getting the required permissions. BMC has asked Juhu police to take cognisance of the offence under the Maharashtra Region and Town Planning (MRTP) Act that deems any unauthorised addition, alterations and change of user illegal.

BMC said, “It has been found that Sonu Sood has instituted/commenced/undertaken/carried out development or changed the user of land. Unauthorised addition/alterations beyond the approved plan and unauthorised change of user from residential to residential hotel building without taking technical sanction from a competent authority.”

BMC further added that Sood had not complied with the notice sent by BMC and has committed a punishable offence under Section 7 of the MRTP Act. “I request you to take cognisance of the offence and deal with the accused according to the law,” BMC added.

As per the reports, Sood had moved to city civil court against the notice but did not get any relief. A civic officer said, “The court had given him 3 weeks’ time to appeal in the high court. Since three weeks passed and he had not restored the alterations and additions as per the approved plan, we have filed a police complaint to register an FIR under the MRTP Act.”

Vishwas Mote, Additional Municipal Commissioner, K-West ward, said, “We are taking action as per procedure.”

Meanwhile, Sonu Sood has said that he had permissions for change of user from BMC and he was waiting for a clearance from the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA). He said, “I have already taken approval for change of user from BMC. It was subject to approval of MCZMA. This permission hasn’t come due to Covid-19. There are no irregularities. I always abide by the law. This hotel was used to house Covid-19 warriors during the pandemic. If permissions don’t come, I will restore it back to a residential structure. I am appealing against BMC’s complaint in the Bombay high court.”

Naveen Dalal, one of the two men who had allegedly shot in the air near an event attended by radical Islamist and riot-accused Umar Khalid in Delhi in August 2018, has now been forefront at the farmer protests in Haryana.

On August 13, 2018, the radical Islamist Umar Khalid had claimed that someone had tried to shoot him at the constitution club. A few days later, the Islamists and far-left protestors had claimed that the attacker was a ‘Hindu nationalist’ and had attacked him for political reasons. The liberals had joined the sedition accused Umar Khalid to claim that it was an assassination attempt against Khalid.

Khalid had tweeted the image of a person identified as Naveen Dalal, the attackers who shot in the air, claiming that he was close to Sudarshan TV chief Suresh Chavhanke to insinuate that the so-called attack against him was nothing but a planned attack by ‘Hindu nationalists’.

However, a few days later, it was revealed that the alleged attacked Naveen Dalal was a gau rakshak, who had no ties with any political party. Dalal, who was allegedly a ‘Gau Rakshak’, was later found out to be an ardent fan of Congress leader and former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

Despite his no connection with the nationalist groups, the ‘liberal-secular’ media had painted him to be one so that they could stitch a false narrative to claim that the riot-accused Umar Khalid was a victim of violence perpetrated by the ‘Hindutva’ mob.

Interestingly, years after the so-called attack, the facts pertaining to the identity of the attacker has now come out. As one looks carefully into the social media accounts of the attacker Naveen Dalal, one can clearly find his links with Om Prakash Chautala’s Indian National Lok Dal (INLD).

Several social media posts of Naveen Dalal highlights that he is not only a worker of the party but also the ‘Yuva Pradesh Upadhyaksh’ of INLD. It is pertinent to note that INLD is one of the principal opposition parties in Haryana.

Naveen Dalal, who according to ‘liberals’ and the far-left propagandist was a ‘Hindu nationalist’ when he attacked Umar Khalid, is also actively supporting the so-called protests against the Modi government over the farm laws.

Dalal has been forefront at organising protests against the Modi government demanding a rollback on the three farm laws.

From the above images, one can clearly state that the alleged attacker of the Umar Khalid is a party member of INLD who had no ties with any ‘Hindu nationalist’ party or group. However, the liberal-secular media, instead of reporting truth, caught peddling lies to peddle its political narrative to target the Modi government.

Nearly, two years after the alleged incident, the real identity of the alleged attacker has come out raising questions on whether the so-called attack against Umar Khalid was a real one or a staged event.

In a big win, India is out of the list of top ten countries with most active coronavirus cases in the world. As per data website worldometers, India is now on 12th number with most active coronavirus cases.

With little less than 2.3 lakh active cases, India has about 99% recovery rate. As of 7th January, 2021, India has had a total of over 1.03 crore positive cases, of which over 1 crore have recovered. Less than 9,000 are serious or critical and about 1.5 lakh people have lost their lives due to the Chinese virus pandemic.

In total cases, however, India ranks second, where the US tops with over 2 crore cases. America also has the highest number of active cases at about 84 lakh cases. Almost 3.7 lakh Americans have lost their lives.

European countries like France and UK have seen a second wave of the coronavirus which started sometime around October. These countries have now imposed strict or partial lockdowns in a bid to curb the COVID cases.

Coronavirus vaccine

The UK has started rolling out vaccination for coronavirus. India, too, has given approvals to Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine as well as made in India Bharat Biotech’s COVAXIN, for emergency use. The vaccine rollout for India is expected to start sometime next week.

For a country this size with the massive population as well as innumerable hurdles, India has indeed done a tremendous job in containing the pandemic.

Bengal: TMC MLA slaps journalist for publishing report that he did not like, media persons come out in protest

Ananta Deb Adhikari, the Trinamool Congress MLA from Mainaguri was booked for allegedly slapping a local journalist in Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal on Monday. The journalist named Somnath Chakraborty reportedly drew the ire of the MLA after he published a news about the MLA’s criticism of the Zilla Parishad.

The TMC MLA, however, denied the allegations and responded, “Everyone should read what the journalist had written and tell me whether it would make me angry or not”.

The incident reportedly took place in the Mainaguri area after MLA Ananta Deb Adhikari inaugurated an open gymnasium. Speaking to Republic, Chakraborty told that the incident happened at Jalpesh where the MLA, in his address, said that the organizers of Jalpesh Fair never involved him in the decision-making. When Chakraborty asked this to the organizers they refuted it. “The news was published on Tuesday, at an event, the MLA confronted me for publishing ‘anti-government’ news and slapped me”, alleged Chakraborty. An FIR has been filed by Chakraborty against Adhikari.

The incident enraged fellow journalists of Siliguri Journalists Club who staged a protest in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue in Siliguri on Wednesday.

The protesting journalists raised slogans and placards condemning the alleged assault on Chakraborty who works with Bartman, a Bengali newspaper.

The state BJP posted a tweet condemning the incident and slammed the ruling TMC for it.

The party said that the persecution of Chakraborty at the hands of Adhikari portrayed a clear picture of TMC’s totalitarian regime and that even journalists were not spared from the tyranny of the ruling party in the state.

Days after British PM Boris Johnson cancelled his India visit which was scheduled for later this month, the protesting Punjab farmers at Delhi border have claimed ‘political win’ for themselves. They also claimed that this was ‘diplomatic defeat’ for the Indian government.

As per reports, the protesting ‘farmers’ claimed that their road blockades are also receiving international support. A statement released by Sanyukt Kisan Morcha read that they will continue with their ‘tractor rally’ on 26th January, Republic Day and a trial rally for the same will be held on 7th January. The statement claimed that the British PM cancelled his visit to India because of these preparations.

Boris Johnson, British PM, was to be the chief guest at the Republic Day celebration. However, due to the increased cases of coronavirus in the UK, the country has gone in for a total lockdown at least till mid-February. Amid the covid crisis, British PM wrote to PM Modi and expressed his inability to visit India as he has to oversee vaccination drive and other aspects related to the pandemic.

Boris Johnson had said that he will visit India later in the first half of India ahead of G7 meet which PM Modi is to attend.

Prime Minister Modi on Thursday expressed distress to the unprecedented violence erupted at the US Capitol Hill in Washington after several protestors and supporters of President Donald Trump protested stormed the seat of the US government.

Twitter has locked the account of incumbent US President Donald Trump in the wake of the violence at Capitol Hill in Washington DC. The social media giant said that his account has been locked for 12 hours and any future violation of its “Civic Integrity or Violent Threats policies” will lead to a suspension.

In its policy statement, Twitter said, “Any attempts to undermine the integrity of our service is antithetical to our fundamental rights and undermines the core tenets of freedom of expression, the value upon which our company is based.”

“We believe we have a responsibility to protect the integrity of those conversations from interference and manipulation. Therefore, we prohibit attempts to use our services to manipulate or disrupt civic processes, including through the distribution of false or misleading information about the procedures or circumstances around participation in a civic process,” the statement added.

Washington DC had erupted in chaos after supporters of Donald Trump stormed Capitol Hill and breached its premises. Capitol Hill is the seat of the US Senate and the House of Representatives. Protesters had entered House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office as well.

Moreover, one woman was shot by law enforcement authorities during the chaos. She is reported to have lost her life. Also, pipe bombs were found at the Republican National Committee’s headquarters. They were detonated after the staff was evacuated.

Donald Trump has addressed his supporters and asked them to go home. As per reports, a suspicious package was also discovered at the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and was evacuated. The package at DNC is yet to be identified. Meanwhile, a woman has been shot by law enforcement authorities whose condition is believed to be critical. Amidst the raging violence and chaos at the US Capital Hill, AP has reported that four people have died so far. A woman who was shot by Capitol police. Three other people have died in ‘medical emergencies’.

As per latest reports, the Senate has rejected the Republicans’ objections to the electoral votes in Pennsylvania. Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnel has stated that he believes there will be no more challenges to any other state’s election results. The formal certification of the Congress for Joe Biden’s victory is expected to finish soon.

There are chaotic scenes underway at Capitol Hill in Washington DC, USA. Amidst the chaos, there are reports that an unarmed woman was shot by law enforcement authorities.

As per reports, blood was pouring out of the mouth of the woman draped in the Red, White and Blue. Fellow protesters attended to the woman as can be seen in the video. Meanwhile, incumbent US President Donald Trump has addressed his supporters and asked them to go home.

But it needs to be asserted that there is no credible evidence as of yet that Antifa were involved in the chaotic scenes at Capitol Hill. Trump supporters are reported to have breached the Capitol Hill and are attempting to hold Capitol Hill at siege.
