Former BJD leader Tathagata Satpathy passes a debased remark against UP CM Yogi Adityanath for prioritizing public health over attending his father’s funeral

As India is amidst the battle with the raging coronavirus outbreak, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath today wrote a heartfelt letter expressing his grief over the passing away of his father and also, apologised for not being able to attend his funeral.

Yogi Adityanath wrote that it was his wish to see his father one last time in his last moments, however, due to the fight against Coronavirus and the responsibility of protecting 23 crore people of his state from the pandemic, he could not do so. He also says that due to the lockdown and the responsibility of fighting the Coronavirus pandemic, he is not being able to partake in the funeral of his deceased father.

However, Yogi’s dedication and commitment towards protecting his people against the virus that threatens to overwhelm the fragile public health system of the country did not sit well with the former BJD member Tathagata Satpathy.

Responding to the news about Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath not being able to attend his father’s funeral, Satpathy sardonically tweeted, “A true progeny of Hindutva! Proud of him.” In a subsequent tweet, Satpathy wrote: “Jia bopa ro nuhen, sia kahaara nuhen”, meaning “the one who could not be of his father, how could he be of others”, dubiously attributing it to an old Oriya saying.

Satpathy seemed taken aback by the conscientiousness exhibited by Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath during such difficult times. Yogi Adityanath’s decision to prioritise the health of his people over attending his father’s funeral thoroughly rattled Satpathy to pass such a debased remark against the Uttar Pradesh chief minister.

Several Netizens responded to the politician and expressed disdain for his tweet.

Earlier today, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s father Anand Singh Bisht, after suffering from liver and kidney ailments, passed away today at 10.44 AM in AIIMS. He was undergoing treatment at AIIMS for the past month against a long illness.

CM Yogi Adityanath was in a meeting when the news of the death of his father was conveyed to him. The CM, however, continued his meeting and got up only after completing the meeting on coronavirus situation in the state. Subsequently, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also wrote a heartfelt letter expressing anguish at his father’s passing away and also, apologised for not being able to attend his funeral. He said that due to the lockdown and the responsibility of fighting the Coronavirus pandemic, he is not being able to partake in the funeral of his deceased father

In a deeply touching note, CM Yogi Adityanath wrote that he is deeply anguished at the death of his father. It was his father who had taught him the principles of hard work and working honestly and selflessly for the greater good of the people, he said.

Locals claim the suspected man in Palghar mob lynching video is a member of Sharad Pawar’s NCP: BJP leader Sunil Deodhar

0

The BJP leader Sunil Deodhar today claimed that according to the locals in Palghar, a suspected man seen in many videos of the mob lynching, that claimed the lives of 3 individuals, including 2 sadhus, was an NCP functionary.

Responding to BJP leader Sambit Patra’s query about the identity of a man who is seen in the macabre video of Palghar lynching wearing a white and yellow-coloured T-shirt, Deodhar claimed that the man’s name is Kashinath Chaudhary and he is a district panchayat member of Sharad Pawar’s NCP. Deodhar further added that CPM panchayat members- Vishnu Patra, Subhash Bhavar and Dharma Bhavar were also seen in the video along with the NCP functionary.

Social Media is awash with several horrifying videos of the gruesome mob lynching in Palghar which rendered 3 dead, including 2 sadhus. The spine-chilling videos show a bunch of frenzied individuals mercilessly attacking the three men.

Palghar lynching details

The blood-curdling incident happened on 16th April 2020 in Palghar, Maharashtra. Two Sadhus, 70-year-old Kalpavrishka Giri Maharaj and 35-year-old Sushil Giri Maharaj along with their driver 30-year-old Nilesh Telgade associated with the Juna Akhara and were on their way from Mumbai to Gujarat to give Samadhi to another Sadhu. At Gadakchinchale village, a wild and frenzied crowd of over more than 100 people attacked them. The villagers deemed them as thieves and started attacking them. The police claim that their team which had rushed to the spot to rescue the 70-year-old man also came under the attack of the violent mob.

People of the Sadhu community say that this village is tribals dominated and most of them are Christians while some are Muslims. Some even say that the police, out of fear of the tribals, handed over the Sadhus to the mob which later beat up those Sadhus to death with sticks. Reportedly, when the tribals of a particular religion started beating up the Sadhus, the police did not intervene

Palghar mob lynching: Complaint filed against journalists for peddling fake news about BJP sarpanch being arrested for lynching of 2 sadhus

The horrific lynching of two sadhus by a frenzied crowd of more than 100 people in Palghar, Mumbai has shaken the country to its core. The incident happened on April 16 when two sadhus travelling in a car along with their driver were intercepted by the manic crowd in Palghar and brutally hacked to death. Horrifying visuals of the incident had emerged which showed police watching over as the sadhus are subjected to indescribable barbarity by the enraged crowd.

The police claim that it had arrested more than 100 people who were involved in the unfortunate lynching of the two sadhus and their driver.

Two police officers- Anand Rao Kale, an assistant police inspector, and another sub-inspector have been suspended until an inquiry is conducted into the mob lynching incident that occurred on April 16 in Palghar. They have been suspended with immediate effect for alleged negligence on duty after the lynching of three men in Palghar.

FIR filed against a mob of 400-500 for killing the three men, including 2 sadhus in Palghar

In the FIR, the assistant police inspector Anand Rao Kale, who led the initial response team of the police at the spot claimed that the police were heavily outnumbered as there were about 400 to 500 frenzied people who were baying for the blood of the three individuals. The report mentions that the police team which had reached the location to rescue the victims were also attacked by the mob. When they tried to rescue the victims by putting them in the police vehicle, the mob vandalised the police vehicle and kept attacking the three men with stones. Kale identified five men from the mob of 400-500 and included them in the FIR. They are- Jairam Bhavar (25), Mahesh Sitaram Ravte (19), Ganesh Devji Rao (31), Ramdas Rupji Asare (27) and Sunil Somji Ravte (25).

Offences under IPC sections 302 (murder), 120(B), 427, 147, 148 and 149 have been registered against the five accused along with the mob of 400-500 people. IPC Section 188 has also been invoked in the case due to the coronavirus-enforced lockdown under which sweeping curbs have been imposed on movement and assembly of people, the report said.

Complaint filed against journalists for peddling fake news

However, days after the gruesome incident, social media is rife with half-truths and fake news. Many Internet users, some of them being prominent ‘journalists’, have partaken in spreading unverified news about the arrests made in the case.

Sudhir Suryawanshi, a journalist with the New Indian Express, falsely claimed that the Sarpanch of Gadchinchale village, Chitra Chaudhari, belonging to the BJP, was arrested by the police in connection with the horrid lynching. However, he later issued a clarification that Chaudhari has not been arrested in the matter so far.

Another ‘journalist’, Nikhil Wagle, also shared the unsubstantiated news about the arrest of Sarpanch Chitra Chaudhari in the case.

Aam Aadmi Party leader Vijay Fulara too jumped on the bandwagon of purveying fake news. He posted a tweet claiming BJP Sarpanch Chitra Chaudhari has been arrested by the police in connection with the mob lynching case of 2 sadhus and their driver.

Sawant claimed that the area where the lynching happened has a sarpanch from the BJP and those arrested by the police belong to the BJP.

Now, a complaint has been filed against Maharashtra Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant, journalists Sudhir Suryawanshi and Nikhil Wagle for spreading fake news about the mob lynching of three men, including 2 sadhus, in Palghar. The complainant has alleged in his complaint that these three persons have intentionally put out false information with a malicious intention to create confusion among the public and to instigate a violent reaction against the BJP workers.

The complaint further mentions that these individuals are attempting to create unrest in the society at a time when the government resources are busy in taming the pandemic. It highlights how these individuals are claiming to have information about the identities of those arrested when the police and the home ministry have not yet disclosed the details and identities of those arrested in the mob lynching case.

Citing the Supreme Court of India and Indian Home Ministry’s stern stance against the publication of fake news, the complainant has asked for filing of an FIR against Sachin Sawant, Sudhir Suryawanshi and Nikhil Wagle under the Information Technology Act and several sections of the Indian Penal Code.

Enclosing the pictures of the tweets posted by the aforesaid individuals, the complaint also asks Mumbai Police to investigate if officers involved in handling the Palghar mob lynching case are selectively leaking the information to private individuals and political parties, thereby affecting an impartial and fair probe into the case.

The Wire declares that two Sadhus of Juna Akhara, victims of Palghar lynching, were not Hindus at all: Here is the truth

The conduct of propaganda outlet The Wire, which is headed by American Siddharth Varadarajan, has been atrocious for a very long time. Its track record of spreading fake news is second to none. It is not due to incompetence alone but sheer malice towards the Hindu community. If it were only incompetence, then a fair share of its propaganda would have been in favour of Hindus as well. But that hasn’t ever been the case. And the extent of its malice is such that The Wire has not abandoned its propaganda even in the wake of heinous mob lynching of two Sadhus associated with the Juna Akhara at Palghar in Maharashtra.

The Wire doubts the Hindu identity of the Sadhus

In its report on the incident, The Wire insinuated that the Sadhus were not Hindus at all. They claimed that social media was quick to ‘identify him as a Hindu and Sadhu’ and said that ‘however’, “two of the deceased belonged to the nomadic tribal community and were part of a religious sect affiliated with an akhaara or a religious group in Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh.” What The Wire attempts to hide here is that the Juna Akhara is an explicity Hindu ascetic order and there can be no misinterpretation about it under any circumstances unless one is motivated by malice to state otherwise.

The Wire doubt Hindu identity of two Juna Akhara sadhus, victims of Palghar lynching
Source: The Wire

As it turns out, it is precisely the polar opposite of what The Wire had itself said about the Juna Akhara in its earlier report. The inconsistency is so blatant that there is not even a scope for any defense here.

What The Wire said about Juna Akhara in the past

In February last year, during the Kumbh Mela, 32-year-old Kanhaiya Prabhu Nandgiri, formerly a resident of Azamgarh from the Dalit community, attained his position as a mahamandaleshwar of the Juna Akhara. By all accounts, it was a momentous occasion worthy of much celebration but The Wire, obviously, was not pleased. It called the Juna Akhara a ‘Brahminical ascetic order’ and implied that it was a ploy of Hindutva forces to consolidate the Dalit vote bank ahead of the General Elections that were to occur later that year.

Source: The Wire

Thus, an institution that is a ‘Brahminical ascetic order’ when it elevates a person from the Dalit community to an important position loses its Hindu identity, as per The Wire, when two Sadhus associated with it become victims of a brutal mob lynching. The hypocrisy of it all and its malice is quite astounding for the sheer audacity of it alone.

What it tells us about The Wire and the Liberal Establishment

Quite clearly, the allegiance of The Wire, or the liberal establishment for that matter, is not to truth or objectivity. Truth, honesty, integrity do not matter in the liberal world. The only thing that matters here is the concerted campaign against the Hindu community. Facts can easily be twisted to fit the narrative. Facts that don’t suit the narrative are merely a minor inconvenience one has to work around. Because the larger objective is not to report objectively on events. The larger objective, the only objective, is to constantly undermine the interests of the Hindu Community.

There can be no doubt that the Juna Akhara is Hindu, it’s abundantly clear when one mere glances through the website of Baba Rampuri, one of the most prominent faces of the Juna Akhara. And no amount of propaganda by The Wire The Liar could ever change that fact. The malicious agenda of The Wire is so evident that a Hindu organization like Juna Akhara is decreed to be non-Hindu and that too, after the merciless lynching of two of its sadhus.

What is the Juna Akhara, the organisation that the two Sadhus, victims of the mob-lynching in Palghar, belonged to?

According to the website, “With more than 400,000 sannyasi members, Juna Akhara is by far the largest order of sadhus in India, today, the vast majority are Naga Babas. They have been called the defenders of the Sanatan Dharma. The word Naga, in this case, is derived from the Sanskrit word, nagna, meaning “naked.” And indeed Naga Babas are known for marching naked, covered with ashes, during the colorful sacred bathing rites at the Kumbh Mela.” To be clear, this is the same organization, which The Wire tells its reader is not Hindu. And no, this is not a joke.

source: rampuri.com

The Juna Akhara traces its origin to Adi Shankaracharya himself, one of greatest Hindu philosophers and theologian, the promulgator of the doctrine of Advaita Vedanta. The websites states, “In the 7th century A.D., 52 lineages within the Order of Sannyasis formalized their age-old network into an elite brotherhood, a society, that was known originally as Dattatreya Akhara, then Bhairon Akhara, and after other new akharas were formed, it simply became known as Juna Akhara, the “old” akhara (as juna means “old” in Gujarati Language), or the “Ancient Circle”.”

About its administration, it says that the Juna Akhara does not resemble modern religious or spiritual organizations but is a traditional society. “Juna Akhara is a traditional society in which the sadhu families of the 52 lineages are represented by their acknowledged elders in a grand council of the akhara, which in turn is represented by elected Secretaries and a Sabhapati (President). Once elected to any position, the appointment is for life,” it says.

It adds, “The decisions of the greater and ruling councils have to do with the operation of the society as a whole, not with the functioning or behaviour of a lineage, family, or individual. All matters are divided into two main categories, “samaj“, dealing with the society as a whole affecting all, and “ghar”, that which relates to a sadhu family. These council members are all Naga Babas.”

Tamil Nadu: Chennai doctor who died of COVID-19 denied burial as angry mob attacks family, corporation staff amidst coronavirus fear

On Sunday, family members, friends and corporation workers became the victims of mob violence when they tried to bury the dead body of a 55-year-old neurosurgeon named Dr. Simon Hercules at the TP Chatram Burial Ground in Kilpauk, Chennai. Dr Simon from Chennai had tested coronavirus positive and breathed his last on Sunday. After he was denied burial in the cemetery at Kilpauk, he was buried at another burial ground nearby.

Mob violence in Anna Nagar

The local residents in Chennai demanded that the body be buried somewhere else, as the deceased died of Wuhan Coronavirus infection. They remained resolute in their stand, even after police intervention. When the body of Dr. Simon was taken to Velangadu burial ground in Anna Nagar, the hospital staff were faced with similar resistance from the locals.

A group of 50 locals engaged in a verbal confrontation with the medics. Two staff members were assaulted and the ambulance was vandalised. Reportedly, a health worker sustained head injuries. The medics had to flee the burial site and take the body back to the hospital morgue. The injured staff members are now being treated at the KMC hospital. Around 1:40 am in the night, the deceased was laid to rest Velangadu burial ground in Anna Nagar.

Police Action

A total of 20 people have been arrested for mob violence by the Chennai police under the Epidemic Diseases Act and several Indian Penal Code Sections such as 147 (Rioting), 148 (Armed with Deadly Weapons), 307 (Attempt to Murder) and 332 (Obstructing a Public Servant).

“This is a shameful act. These fringe elements are robbing the chance of a dignified burial. The government should send a strong message to the public by taking severe action against the people who were involved in the brutal attack, they should be booked under the Goondas Act,” Tamil Nadu Government Doctor’s Association (TNGDA) secretary Dr. N Ravishankar was quoted as saying.

Indian Express turns burial into cremation

Indian Express, however, chose to refer to the unfortunate incident at the burial ground denying dignified burial to the doctor as ‘cremation’.

Indian Express refers to burial as ‘cremation’

Indian Express had earlier concocted lies that Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad was segregating coronavirus positive patients on religious basis. A former Indian Express journalist had spewed hate on Dalits and claimed that Dalits gang-raped and killed Muslims during 2002 riots. Prior to that, the Indian Express had communalised a road rage incident claiming that a Muslim was beaten up for being a Muslim.

Arunachal Pradesh: Govt releases cash aid of Rs 3500 each for over 14,000 residents stranded in other states due to lockdown

Keeping in view the current situation where the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic has caused India to impose a lockdown, halting transport, industries and businesses, the state government in Arunachal Pradesh has released a special one time cash aid package for the state residents who are currently stranded in other states of the country for various reasons.

Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu announced that a special package of Rs 5.2 crores has been released to financially help 14,859 Arunachalis who have been stranded in other states due to the lockdown.

The CM further stated that each of the 14,859 persons will receive a sum of Rs 3500 as an one-time financial assistance to help them meet their needs during the lockdown.

The financial aid has been provided from the CM’s relief fund.

Arunachal Pradesh had reported one case of coronavirus last month. The patient has since made a full recovery and the North Eastern state has not reported any fresh cases of the disease in recent days.

Along with Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Goa have also reported full recovery of the existing coronavirus patients and fresh cases have not been reported in the states.

‘Arrest was necessary to prevent him from indulging in similar activity’: Read scathing comments of Court in fake news case against ABP journalist

The news report of the accused posed a law and order situation. Thus, the action taken by the police holding the reporter responsible for the situation seems justified – Bandra Court on ABP Manjha journalist Rahul Kulkarni arrested for running fake news, leading to the migrant crisis in Bandra

Rahul Kulkarni, a journalist with Marathi news channel ABP Majha was arrested by the Mumbai Police along with 10 others on 15th April for misleading people with fake news that led to migrant workers gathering in Bandra on 14 April and demanding to be sent back to their home towns. The misleading report by Kulkarni had played a part in the rumour mongering’ that led to nearly 2,000 alleged migrant workers assembling in Bandra on April 14th despite a nationwide lockdown in the country.

Though Rahul Kulkarni, the ABP Manjha reporter who was arrested for speeding fake news has got bail, the Bandra Court made scathing comments not only against Kulkarni and his reportage that led to the migrant crisis in Bandra, but also statements that held up a mirror to the media fraternity on the whole. It is pertinent to note that the Bandra Court held that Rahul Kulkarni’s arrest by the police was completely justified and that his fake news reportage, indeed, caused a law and order problem in Bandra.

The Court first cautions and observes that the Country is dealing with the Coronavirus pandemic and to arrest the spread, the government has announced a lockdown, it is in this background that an offence was registered against the accused journalist of ABP, Rahul Kulkarni, for spreading fake news. The court also reveals that according to the investigating agencies, it is this fake news run by ABP and its journalist Rahul Kulkarni, that thousands gathered at Bandra to go back to their home towns, giving rise to a crisis amidst Coronavirus lockdown.

Whether the news report was fake news and it led to the congregation at Bandra

In this regard, the Bandra court was rather categorical in stating that the ABP news report by Rahul Kulkarni was indeed fake news and an example of irresponsible reporting. It also observed that it was sufficient to mislead innocent commoners into congregating at Bandra station.

Bandra Court observations

The Bandra Court observed that the ABP news run by Rahul Kulkarni clearly said that Jan Sadharan Trains will be operated by the government to rescue stranded persons and that the report clearly showed that the government and the railway administration has come to a “definitive conclusion” that these trains will be operated. This news then became viral and “led to a huge gathering at Bandra station”.

The Court also observed that some “anti-social elements took opportunity and benefit of the news item to inside and father people at Bandra station”.

The Court also observed that it does not matter whether the news was published before or after the address of the Prime Minister to the nation that announced the extension of the lockdown. If the broadcast was prior to the address to the nation, even then it was equally irresponsible since the channel should have waited for the PM’s statement before rushing to broadcast the news.

Bandra Court observations

The court observed. “His behaviour has actually led to the present situation”. The Court also observed that “the accused seems to have ignored his responsibility”.

Scathing comments on the responsibility of the media

The Bandra Court also made some scathing comments on the role and responsibilities of the media. It observed that the media certainly enjoys the freedom of the press and expression, however, the freedom too comes with reasonable restrictions.

Bandra Court observations

The Court observed that the accused (ABP journalist Rahul Kulkarni arrested for spreading fake news) should have kept these reasonable restrictions in mind while reporting the news item. The media has a tremendous influence on the general public and thus, it is necessary that the news report should be published sensibly and in a more responsible manner with anticipation of the consequences, it could have.

‘Arrest was necessary to prevent him from indulging in similar activity’ – Bandra court on arrest of ABP journalist Rahul Kulkarni for spreading fake news

The Bandra Court held that the police action arresting Rahul Kulkarni, ABP journalist, was completely justified after he spread fake news that led to the law and order situation in Bandra.

Bandra Court observations

One the most interesting revelations made by the Bandra Court observations is that the case diary of the police showed that the “accused was not in a position to cooperate and his arrest was necessary to prevent him from indulging in similar activities”.

ABP Manjha news has yet not clarified why its reporter was not cooperating with the police, making his arrest necessary to stop him from spreading fake news.

The court then denied Police Custody saying that all the information is in the public domain and that mobile phones, documents etc have already been taken custody of.

However, even while granting bail, the observations of the Bandra Court appears as though it has Prima Facie held that ABP journalist Rahul Kulkarni, arrested for spreading fake news, is indeed guilty of inciting the migrant crisis in Bandra. Also, he was uncooperative with the police and that there was nothing ‘illegal’ about his arrest.

Coronavirus: Mamata stays defiant, says will not follow IMCT directions amidst COVID-19 crisis

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today questioned the formation of the Inter-Ministerial Central Teams (IMCT) constituted by the Central Government for quick redressal of coronavirus crisis in states claiming that it is ‘not consistent with the spirit of federalism’.

Earlier today, the Central government constituted 6 IMCT to make on-spot assessment of the coronavirus situation and issue necessary directions to state authorities for its redressal. The IMCT would also submit its report to the central government in the larger interest of the general public. These teams would visit West Bengal, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Rajasthan to ensure that lockdown is implemented there.

However, amidst all this, Mamata Banerjee continues to defy the central guidelines. Earlier she had said she would not allow usage of PPE kits sent by centre as they were in yellow colour. CPI(M) leader Md Salim alleged that the coronavirus cases in West Bengal are being suppressed.

Speaking to media, Md Salim said that one Nepal Barman in Malda died of coronavirus and his deadbody was surreptitiously burned in crematorium on 12th April. Banerjee government claimed that Barman was tested negative for coronavirus stating that the swab sample was collected on 13th April, a day after he was cremated.

Coronavirus crisis in West Bengal

Health experts have slammed Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal over delayed response and mismanagement. There are also allegations of the West Bengal government fudging the data of COVID-19 positive cases as well as deaths in state. West Bengal Doctors’ Forum also wrote to Banerjee asking that the coronavirus data should be genuine, transparent and verifiable.

NDTV publishes report claiming Arunachal tribals are hunting snakes due to rice scarcity, gets called out by minister and state govt

0

Prominent BJP leader and the Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and Minister of State in the Ministry of Minority Affairs of India, Kiren Rijiju, denounced the misleading report published by NDTV that claimed tribals in Arunachal Pradesh are hunting snakes to fight starvation amidst the alleged scarcity of rice in the state.

Taking to Twitter, Rijiju sharply criticised NDTV for publishing an unsubstantiated story about the hunting of snakes for consumption in Arunachal Pradesh. “Dear @ndtv please don’t make stories without verification! I’m dead against hunting and killing of animals so is the State Govt. But to say that there’s no rice left for the people leading to the killing of cobra is rubbish! No one hunts snakes for consumption in Arunachal Pradesh,” the BJP leader said.

NDTV had published an article in which it claimed that due to the ongoing nationwide lockdown amidst the coronavirus outbreak, tribals in Arunachal Pradesh have resorted to killing cobras to fulfil their dietary requirements as rice has been in the short supply. Sharing a photo of a group of hunters with a 12-feet long cobra slung over their shoulders, the NDTV report said that the tribals have been left with hunting animals for their food as they have ran out of stocks of granaries amid the coronavirus lockdown.

This claim was also contested by the Arunachal Pradesh government. Rubbishing the NDTV report for its fake assertions, the official Twitter account of the Arunachal Pradesh government issued a clarification stating that there is no paucity of rice stocks in the state. It said that the state has at least three months stock at all places and is providing free ration to those who have all lost their livelihood due to the lockdown. Around 20,000 people have been provided with free ration till date, it said.

The state government’s sharp rebuke had forced NDTV to update its report. The report now incorporates the state government’s stance that it has enough ration to provide to the needy people of the state for the next three months but it still retains the hunters’ account in the article, who claimed that the rice stocks in the state had dried up forcing them to go hunting for the wild animals.

Besides, a case has been filed against the group of hunters who killed the Cobra under the Wildlife Protection Act, according to the state officials.

The King Cobra is a protected reptile under the law and killing it is an unbailable offence. Arunachal Pradesh is home to a large number of endangered snake species.

Following Arunachal Pradesh and Goa, Manipur becomes third Indian state to become coronavirus-free

0

The chief minister of Manipur, N Biren Singh informed on Twitter that his state is coronavirus-free as both the patients in the state, who were earlier declared coronavirus infected, made a full recovery and tested negative for the infection.

“I am glad to share that Manipur is now Corona free. Both patients hv fully recovered and have tested negative. There are no fresh cases of the virus in the state. This has been possible because of cooperation of public &medical staff and strict enforcement of lockdown @PMOIndia,” Singh tweeted Sunday evening.

The first case in the state was of a 23-year-old woman with a travel history to Europe. She had recently returned from the United Kingdom after which she was tested positive for the coronavirus. The second case in the state was of a 65-year-old man who was found to have contracted the infection after he returned from the Tablighi Jamaat event in Delhi’s Markaz Nizamuddin.

Indian states which are coronavirus free

The declaration by the chief minister of Manipur of having defeated the highly contagious infection came on the heels of the announcement made by another Indian state, Goa, which yesterday claimed that it had successfully thwarted the spread of the coronavirus and all the seven patients who had tested positive for the contagion initially have recovered from their illness. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday announced that Goa is now a ‘zero Coronavirus case’ State after the seventh patient tested negative in the state on Sunday. Prior to that, the lone coronavirus patient in Arunachal Pradesh had also recovered. Sikkim, too, has managed to steer clear from the pandemic.

As per the notification issued by the Union Home Ministry regarding the relaxations in the lockdown, which has come into effect from Monday, these states can allow business activities while following the mandatory safety protocol.
