Following the electoral success of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Imran Khan, Twitter user and a PhD research scholar @TrulyMonica decided to use the opportunity to crack a joke on AAP Supremo Arvind Kejriwal, by drawing parallels between him and Imran Khan:
The only difference between Imran Khan and Arvind Kejriwal is that Imran Khan is officially a Pakistani ?
— Monica (@TrulyMonica) July 26, 2018
But this joke seems to have caused a major heartburn for Kejriwal’s supporters who have as a result targeted Monica with abuses and sexual slurs. There are few of the vicious responses she has received:

Some decided to respond with extremely lewd statements:

One even called for Monica’s arrest:
Apart from random trolls, Monica was also attacked by a prominent left-liberal page, which alleged that she was in cahoots with the RSS. This pro-Kejriwal tweet was surprisingly retweeted by the AAP supremo himself, leading to the assumption that he was rattled by the joke:
Monica was also taken on by AAP’s IT head and fake news generator Ankit Lal, who advocated that PM Modi and Amit Shah be jailed:
It hardly matters whether @ArvindKejriwal and Imran khan are similar or not.
— Ankit Lal (@AnkitLal) July 30, 2018
It was indeed puzzling to note that Kejriwal’s supporters were so triggered with Monica’s joke considering she merely followed the AAP supremo’s own narrative of drawing parallels between him and Imran Khan:
Met Imran Khan and we shared our experiences in politics. Both challenging status quo in respective countries pic.twitter.com/XsFuT8AYjD
— Arvind Kejriwal (@ArvindKejriwal) March 20, 2016
Apart from supposedly challenging the status quo, another similarity between Kejriwal and Imran Khan might be that they both enjoy support from Pakistanis. This was famously noted when Pakistani Twitter users had trended #PakStandsWithKejriwal, when the AAP leader had demanded proof of the surgical strike by the Indian army.
