Communist leader Subhashini Ali throws ‘Sanskari’ jibe after rape of a Dalit woman in UP, perpetrator turns out to be a Maulvi

On Monday, January 16, CPI (Marxist) leader Subhashini Ali tried to use the news of a rape of a Dalit woman in Mau, Uttar Pradesh, to push her anti-Hindu agenda and attack state’s Yogi Adityanath government.

On January 15, Sunday it was reported that a Dalit girl was allegedly abducted and raped in Uttar Pradesh’s Mau district. Police arrested Hafiz, a Maulvi, and his brother-in-law Salman in this case. The accused had reportedly kidnapped the victim and taken her to a madarsa on the Nepal border. They threatened her with witchcraft and raped her for a week. The accused were arrested based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s family.

On January 16, NDTV, like many other media outlets, also reported the incident but did not specify the names of the accused.

While several other publications explicitly named the perpetrators, the communist leader chose to share only the NDTV report, for obvious reasons of course, and captioned her tweet, “Must be sanskari since names not mentioned? Two Arrested For Kidnapping, Raping Girl In UP’s Mau District: Cops.”

In her zeal to mock Hindus, the communist leader most likely did not check other publications and casually hurled the ‘Sanskari’ jibe, which was definitely intended to mock Hindus. To her dismay, though, the rape accused was discovered to be a maulvi who committed the heinous act within a madarsa.

For the uninitiated, Subhasini Ali is a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), the President of the All India Democratic Women’s Association, and a former Member of Parliament from Kanpur. She was inducted into the politburo (PB) of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in 2015 thereby becoming the second women member of the PB after Brinda Karat.

It should be noted that the communist party leader has been caught peddling fake news multiple times to further her anti-Hindu and anti-BJP agenda. In 2020, as news of the construction of Ram Mandir poured in, the CPIM leader Subhashini Ali shared an old report on the Ayodhya verdict to mislead people. Ali had taken to Twitter to share an article by the Economic Times captioning her tweet as “New twist: Supreme Court accepts Buddhist claim in Ayodhya dispute”, insinuating that the Ram Mandir matter had once again been caught in some legal dispute. OpIndia had reported how the article the CPIM leader had shared with the misleading “new twist” was one which was written back in the year 2018.

Similarly, in 2019 when the news of the Unnao rape victim’s car accident had become a hot topic across the political spectrum, the communist leader, in her hate for BJP, had shared a photoshopped image attributing a fake quote to the then Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani on Unnao rape case. Several social media users then pointed out to Subhashini Ali that the image she has used is photoshopped and it contains a fake quote.

Old habits die hard though and looks like Subhashini Ali still tries to instigate trouble whenever she can.

‘Hashim Amla converted many to Islam’: Old video of ex-Pakistani cricketer Saeed Anwar goes viral

On Thursday (January 12), a video of former Pakistani cricketer Saeed Anwar, narrating stories of Islamic conversions of non-Muslims, went viral on social media.

In the said video, he was heard saying, “Mashallah, did you see how many people accepted Islam during the World cup? Allah has made it possible. (South African cricketer) Hashim Amla has made many people convert to Islam. Shahid Afridi knows it well.”

“An entire Hindu family became Muslim because of Hashim Amla. Mohammed Yousuf (earlier Yousuf Youhana) became the path to several conversions to Islam. Allah has bestowed all of you with talent…Do the work of Prophet Muhammad,” Saeed Anwar gloated.

The original video was first uploaded on the Youtube channel ‘The Preachers of Islam Official’ on December 16, 2022. The event appears to be the inauguration ceremony of a T10 league ‘Mega Stars League (MSL)’ that was launched by Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi last year.

Hashim Amla is a former South African cricketer of Indian descent. Interestingly, Amla, who allegedly converted a Hindu family to Islam, had played 16 matches for IPL franchise Kings XI Punjab between 2016 and 2017.

In a video that surfaced in September 2021, Saeed Anwar was heard endorsing Islamic supremacism and treating non-Muslims with contempt. In a meeting, he said all non-Muslims were going to be incinerated in hellfire, and it was the duty of Muslims to save them by converting them to Islam.

“There are 6 billion non-Muslims. They are all going to burn in hellfire. It’s Muslims’ duty to save them by converting them to Islam,” Saeed Anwar had said.

UN experts lambast Pakistan over forced conversions

On Monday (January 16), experts at the United Nations expressed grave concern about the alarming rise in kidnappings, coerced marriages, and forced conversions of minor girls belonging to religious minority communities in Pakistan.

“We are deeply troubled to hear that girls as young as 13 are being kidnapped from their families, trafficked to locations far from their homes, made to marry men sometimes twice their age, and coerced to convert to Islam, all in violation of international human rights law,” they said.

“We are very concerned that such marriages and conversions take place under threat of violence to these girls and women or their families,” the UN experts pointed out.

A day after a new video from the botany department of the Maharaja Sayajirao University (MSU) in Vadodara went viral over social media showing a female student offering Namaz, professor Haribhai Kataria, dean of the Faculty of Science, issued a notification prohibiting all students and professors from participating in religious events on campus.

“Faculty of Science is a premier institute of higher education. Therefore, observing any kind of religious activity is not desirable within the faculty premises. Hence, all the students and faculty members of the Faculty of Science are hereby informed that no religious activities are permitted on faculty premises. Violation of this directive shall invite appropriate disciplinary action,” the notice issued by Kataria read.

Maharaja Sayajirao University remained amid a religious maelstrom after another video of a student offering namaz on campus surfaced on January 16. Following the event, both former and current student leaders, as well as religious groups, sought action from university officials on Monday.

Earlier on December 26, a team of the university’s vigilance rushed to the spot after it was reported that two men were offering namaz on the university premises. Both students were stopped and investigated. To prevent such incidents in the future, Hindu organizations registered a strong protest by sprinkling Ganga Jal and chanting Hanuman Chalisa where the students reportedly had offered namaz.

Another video of a couple from another area offering namaz on campus had previously leaked. The couple had arrived with their child, who was to write the test for the computer concepts course at the University. Reports mention that the problem has already been reported to the university’s high-powered committee. 

It was reported earlier that the HOD of the botany department was unaware of the video that went viral over social media showing a female student offering Namaz. “The entire incident has been reported through the media. All HODs of the university will be informed about this. It is not right to offer namaz in an educational complex. Appropriate cooperation will be provided when the matter is investigated,” head of the department N S R Krishnaya was quoted as saying.

Following that, on January 17, professor Haribhai Kataria, dean of the Faculty of Science, issued a notification prohibiting all students and professors from participating in religious events on the campus of the Maharaja Sayajirao University (MSU) in Vadodara.

JP Nadda’s term as the national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been extended till June 2024, informed Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the National Executive Meeting on Tuesday.

“The tenure of JP Nadda as national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party has been extended till June 2024,” he said. The decision was taken at the National Executive Meeting of the BJP here in the national capital.

According to sources, the proposal for Naddda’s extension was mooted by the Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and was agreed upon unanimously by the members of the National Executive.
JP Nadda assumed the presidency of the party in June 2019.

Indore: SGPC team meets Sindhi community leaders after Sindhis hand over Swaroops of Guru Granth Sahib to Gurudwaras

On January 16, a 5-member team of Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) met members of the Sindhi community over shifting over 90 Swaroop of Shri Guru Granth Sahib from Sindhi Temples to Gurudwara. The aim was to ensure harmony between Sindhi and Sikh communities and resolve the matter peacefully.

Tribune India reported that members of Budha Dal and Satkar committee (Nihang groups) from Punjab went to Sindhi community Temples (Tikana) and asked them to ensure that the sanctity of Guru Granth Sahib is followed. They also asked the Sindhi community to remove idols of Hindu Gods from Tikanas. Though the Sindhi community was ready to follow the norms for keeping Shri Guru Granth Sahib, they refused to remove the idols.

After discussions with the religious leaders of both communities, it was decided that the Sindhi community would submit all copies of Shri Guru Granth Sahib to Imli Sahib Gurudwara, Indore. Following the steps taken by the Sindhi community in Indore, community members in other cities started to follow the process. They submitted multiple copies of Guru Granth Sahib in local Gurudwaras.

The matter was brought to the notice of Akal Takht, which then formed a 5-member panel of the Dharam Parchar Committee (DPC) of the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC). The panel was instructed to visit Indore, meet the community members and resolve the issue.

Speaking to Tribune, DPC member Bhupinder Singh said a joint meeting of the Sindhi community and Sikh community led by Guru Singh Sabha president Manjit Singh Bhatia was held. He said, “Sindhi community is afraid and has shown resentment over the way the Satkar committee members forcibly took away ‘saroops’ and threatened them. They also say that this incident has hurt their emotions and faith.”

The Sindhi community reportedly expressed happiness over the meeting and showed intent to resolve the issue peacefully. Reports suggest they would continue to follow the Sikh faith in future.

It is notable that a group of Nihang Sikhs had visited several Sindhi temples in Indore, and objected to the presence of both idols of Hindu deities and the Guru Granth Sahib in those temples. After that, they demanded that the idols should be removed if the Sindhi community wants to keep the Granth in their temples, or else the Granth should be removed from the Sidhi temples and deposited with a Gurudwara by January 12. The Sindhi community decided to return the Granth, and submitted over 80 Shri Guru Granth Sahib at Gurudwara Imli Sahib at Jawahar Marg in Indore on January 11, a day before the deadline.

Australia: Historic Shiva Vishnu Temple in Melbourne attacked by Khalistani supporters, second such attack on Hindu temples in a week

On Tuesday, Khalistani supporters vandalized another Hindu temple in Australia’s Melbourne. The miscreants launched an attack on the historic Shri Shiva Vishnu Temple in Carrum Downs and wrote anti-Hindu and anti-India slogans on the walls near the temple during the vandalization.

‘Target Modi’, ‘Modi Hitler’, and ‘Hindustan Murdabad’, read the slogans that were painted on the walls of the temples during vandalization. According to the reports, the attack is said to have happened on January 16 days after Khalistan supporters allegedly attacked and vandalized BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir in Melbourne’s northern suburb of Mill Park.

The far more dramatic vandalism occurred on 16 January, when worshippers flocked to the temple for ‘darshan’ and to commemorate the three-day long “Thai Pongal” festival, which is observed by the Tamil Hindu population. President of the Hindu Council of Australia’s Victoria chapter Makrand Bhagwat condemned the incident and said, “I can’t tell you how disturbed I am for watching a second Hindu Temple vandalized for Khalistan propaganda. We will definitely raise this matter with the Victorian Multicultural Commission and the Multicultural Minister of Victoria because the death threat to Hindus is a very serious matter as the community is in fear of these Khalistan supporters.”

Meanwhile, Melbourne Hindu community member Sachin Mahate said, “If these Khalistan supporters have the courage they should go and draw graffiti on the Victorian Parliament building rather than target peaceful Hindu community’s religious places.”

The incident came only hours after Khalistan activists attempted to mobilize support for their referendum through a vehicle rally in Melbourne on the evening of January 15. However, reports mention that less than 200 individuals attended from a population of around 60,000 people in Melbourne.

The attack on the Hindu temples has been condemned by the Jewish Community Council of Victoria and Gurdwara Siri Guru Nanak Darbar, Victorian Council of Churches and the Buddhist Council of Victoria. According to the Councils, death threats against Hindus are a significant concern, since the Indian-Australian community is now living in terror of Khalistan sympathisers.

Earlier on January 12, BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir, a Hindu temple in Melbourne, Australia, was allegedly vandalized by Khalistan supporters and damaged by painting anti-India graffiti on it. According to the reports, the walls of Melbourne’s iconic Swaminarayan temple in Mill Park’s northern suburbs were spray-painted with ‘Hindustan Murdabad,’ slogans which means ‘down with India.’

BAPS Swaminarayan temple then released a statement condemning the attack and said, “We are deeply saddened and shocked by these acts of vandalism and hate. We offer our prayers for peace and harmony and will provide a fuller statement in due course.” Also, Evan Mulholland, Liberal MP for the Northern Metropolitan Region condemned the attack on Hindu temples and said, “This vandalism is deeply distressing for Victoria’s peaceful Hindu community, especially at this holy time.”

Reports mention that the Khalistani group who attacked the temple on January 12 also praised Indian terrorist, Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale who was killed by the Indian Army during Operation Blue Star. Bhindranwale is largely regarded as a supporter of the projected Sikh-majority state of Khalistan.

The attackers while vandalizing the Hindu temples termed Bhindrawale a ‘saint’ and also called him a ‘martyr’. “Sant Bhindranwale Martyr,” read the slogans written on the walls near the temple during the vandalization.

On January 17, Delhi police said they are hunting for four terror suspects ahead of Republic Day celebrations scheduled for January 26. Notably, two terrorists were arrested in the Jahangirpuri area of Delhi. ANI quoted unnamed sources of the Delhi Police Special Cell saying that the suspects received weapons from Pakistan using the drop-dead method. Furthermore, they used social media apps to stay in touch with their handlers in Pakistan.

The sources said, “Delhi Police looking for four other suspects. They received weapons from Pakistan through the drop-dead method and were in contact with handlers in Pak on the Signal app. They got weapons at an unidentified location in Uttarakhand, which is being verified.”

The two terrorists arrested earlier were also tasked with terror attacks in various states. They were allegedly tasked to kill rightwing leaders from Punjab and Delhi on January 27 and 31. By the time of their arrest, the terrorists had already received two targets and taken notes of their movement and schedule. The two suspects were identified as 29-year-old Jagjit Singh and 56-year-old Naushad. Patiala House Court sent them to 14-day police remand for further questioning.

They allegedly received Rs 50 lakh to kill the first target while Rs 1 crore was paid for the second and Rs 1.5 crores for the third killing. Rs 5 lakh as ‘token money’ had already been paid to them via hawala operators. They were booked under UAPA and relevant sections of IPC. Three pistols, 22 live cartridges and hand grenades were recovered from them.

The duo killed a Hindu man at their house and shared the video with their handler. Forensic Science Laboratory also visited the site and collected blood samples. Police said Jagjit Singh has links to Khalistani terrorist Arshdeep Dalla and is linked to the Bambiha gang. On the other hand, Naushad is linked to the terrorist organisation Harkat-ul-Ansar.

As per reports, Delhi police suspect the involvement of eight people in the module. Four of them could be present in India, the police sources said. Two terrorists provided weapons, while the other two sent the Google locations to the bosses where the weapons were kept. The police have recovered weapons from the terrorists hidden at unknown locations in Uttarakhand.

Italy’s most wanted mafia boss arrested after spending 30 years on the run

After 30 years on the run, Italy’s most-wanted mafia boss Matteo Messina Denaro was arrested in Sicily, police said.

Matteo Denaro was arrested from a private health clinic in Palermo possibly set to undergo plastic surgery, a CNN report said quoting prosecutor Maurizio de Lucia as saying on Monday. Denaro has been a fugitive since 1993 and was considered by Europol as one of Europe’s most wanted men.

Italy’s chief of Police, Lamberto Giannini, told CNN: “It is a victory for all the police forces that have worked together over these long years to bring the dangerous fugitive to justice.” He congratulated the Carabinieri, Italy’s military police, and the Palermo Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni tweeted: “A great victory for the state, which demonstrates that it does not give up in the face of the Mafia.” Italy’s Defense Minister Guido Crosetto called the arrest “a sign of a state that wins against Mafia.”

Meloni while speaking outside the prosecutor’s office, said that Italy had not yet won the “war” against the Mafia, this was a “battle that was fundamental to win” but “it’s a day we can celebrate and tell our children that the Mafia can be defeated”.

Messina Denaro is thought to have ordered dozens of Mafia-related murders and was given several life sentences in absentia for his many crimes, most notably in 1992 for his involvement in the separate murders of anti-Mafia prosecutors Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino, according to CNN.

The CNN report also said that Denaro received his most recent life sentence in 2020 for fatal bombings in Milan, Florence and Rome in the late 1990s, and for the murder and torture of the 11-year-old son of an enemy who gave evidence against the Sicilian Cosa Nostra.

He was Cosa Notra’s longest-hiding fugitive, having been a wanted man for nearly 30 years.

Denaro was taken into police custody at around 10 am (local time) after a raid was carried out by more than 100 specialised agents with anti-Mafia Carabinieri in the early hours of the morning.

It is not known what treatment he was receiving. However, the Maddalena clinic where he was arrested is a private clinic known for plastic surgery and other elective surgeries, according to CNN.

Denaro is being held in a secret location, the Carabinieri press office told CNN on Monday.

Delhi’s Brahmapuri is currently the subject of discussion in the media and social media. The reason for this discussion is a report published on the leftist propaganda portal The Wire on Saturday, 14 January 2023. In this report, it is mentioned that a lawyer named Pradeep Sharma on Street No. 13 of Brahmapuri flagged a poster to appeal to Hindus not to sell their property to Muslims.

The report also quoted a doctor as claiming that Muslims had protected the homes of Hindus during the 2020 anti-Hindu riots and there was no violence in street number 13. At the end of the news, it was said that advocate Sharma was also contacted. To investigate all these claims, the Team of OpIndia reached Brahmapuri on Monday, 16 January 2023. What we found in Brahmapuri was blatantly denying The Wire’s claims.

‘The Wire’ put the Sharma family’s safety at risk

After reaching Brahmapuri, we contacted advocate Pradeep Sharma directly. Pradeep Sharma told that he is at the new Usmanpur police station and asked us to come there. It took us about 7 minutes to reach the police station crossing the dense traffic. Pradeep Sharma met us at the gate. When we asked him the reason for coming to the police station, he informed us about the threats he received after his news went viral on some media and social media, and said that he sought police protection because of the threats. Advocate Sharma accused ‘The Wire’ of conspiring against him by taking money from someone. He said ‘The Wire’ has put him and his family in danger.

The conversation stopped for a while due to Azaan in a loud voice

We were talking at the gate of the police station when suddenly two policemen who had just caught some accused passed by. The policemen asked us the reason for standing there. However, after knowing the media personnel, they left the place. During this time, Azaan started from the loudspeakers installed around the police station due to which we had to stop the interview for a while. Advocate Pradeep Sharma described those loud sounds of azaan as a very normal thing for the area.

‘I did not put up any poster’

After azaan’s noise was over, Advocate Sharma resumed the conversation. He told us that he did not put up the poster on which the controversy has arisen. According to Pradeep Sharma, he came to know about the posters with his name from social media. However, he has expressed suspicion that someone put up these posters in his name to stop the exodus of Hindus from the area, which is wrong. The lawyer also informed us that he had never discriminated between Hindus and Muslims while working in his own profession.

Hindus selling houses and migrating

Advocate Pradeep Sharma told us why he would stop others from selling their house when he was preparing to sell his own house. Referring to the condition of his area, he said that Hindus are constantly selling houses on his street. We were told that earlier there were Hindus around his house but now there are many Muslims there. We were also informed about Muslims buying a House of a Hindu Brahmin and building a mosque where people from outside the local street come to offer namaz. According to the advocate, the demographic balance in the area is changing rapidly. According to the lawyer, when the Muslim population crosses 50%, even he does not know what will happen.

Security concerns are the main reason for migration

According to Advocate Sharma, the main concern of him and other Hindus is security. He got emotional while saying that he should not be reminded of the Delhi riots. The lawyer said that rioters had entered his street and an attempt was made to attack the Shiva-Gauri temple at one end of the street. Posing as an eyewitness, Pradeep Sharma said that the rioters had fired bullets in front of his house. We were told that all the Hindus of Brahmapuri are no longer ready to face any such incident like the year 2020 again and that is why they want to move towards a safe place. Sharma mentioned as many as 50 Hindus around him who had sold their houses. This included a Hindu family whose house now has become a mosque. However, ‘The Wire’ has claimed in its report that there was no violence during the Delhi riots in Street No. 13.

Hindus were killed in Brahmapuri

Vinod Kumar, a resident of Brahmapuri, was killed by rioters in the 2020 anti-Hindu riots. He lived in palm street and was returning home with his son at the time of the incident. Apart from Vinod, Advocate Sharma said that a Hindu vegetable seller was also shot dead in street number 1. According to the lawyer, at least 4-5 Hindus were killed in Brahmapuri.

Muslims are safe because of Hindus

Stating that Brahmapuri Gali No. 13 has a 70% Hindu and 30% Muslim population, advocate Sharma said that Hindus protect Muslims in that street. Describing Hindus as tolerant, he said that despite suffering a lot in the 2020 riots, Hindus had protected the Muslims living among them and did not allow anyone to cause any harm to these Muslims.

I never talked to ‘The Wire’

While ‘The Wire’ has claimed to have spoken to Advocate Sharma in its report and claimed to have sided with him, Pradeep Sharma is denying this claim outright. He said that before his news went viral, he did not know any media outlet called ‘The Wire’. Pradeep Sharma also accused ‘The Wire’ of adding his statement published in its article without permission.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Anup Gupta managed to defeat his rival Jasbir Singh Laddi from Aam Aadmi Party in the election for the post of the mayor of Chandigarh. Anup Gupta managed to scrap through by a margin of 1 vote. A total of 29 votes were polled with Gupta getting 15 votes and Laddi ending up with 14.

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Congress chose to abstain from the voting that was held today, January 17. The city beautiful continues to have a BJP mayor as they had won last year’s election as well. At that time, BJP’s Sarabjit Kaur had defeated AAP’s Anju Katyal by the same margin of 1 vote.

Both BJP and AAP have 14 councillors each in the House, while Chandigarh MP also has a vote being an ex-officio member of the municipal corporation House. BJP’s Kirron Kher is the current member of parliament from the city. Congress has 6 councillors while SAD has a single member. However, both those parties chose to abstain from the voting, leaving it as a direct fight between BJP and AAP once again.
