Crowdfunding platforms that Saket Gokhale and others like Kanhaiya Kumar, Dr Kafeel Khan used have gone missing mysteriously

One of the platforms used by TMC leader Saket Gokhale to raise funds for his ‘sustenance’ as he filed Rs 10 RTI full time while not holding on to a regular day job, was ‘OurDemocracy.in’. In November 2019, Gokhale tweeted a link to his crowdfunding platform asking people to cough up money because he chose to give up his ‘cushy job’ to ‘fight the BJP/RSS’, which he usually did with filing frivolous RTIs which cost Rs 10. He urged other Modi haters to assemble and pay him so he can pay his bills and not have to take up a regular job.

However, the crowdfunding campaign is now unreachable and has vanished mysteriously. In fact, not just the campaign, but the entire website is now unreachable.

ourdemocracy page not accessible

As of February 2020, barely 3 months since he started the campaign, Gokhale had already collected over Rs 20 lakh from other Modi haters.

Gokhale on crowdfunding

Gokhale had accepted that he had collected over Rs 22 lakh. He had then claimed he would be roping in more people to help him file Rs 10 RTIs to cover their basic living expenses. Turns out, OurDemocracy crowdfunding platform was not giving the total figure of the amount raised. So those who contributed did not quite know how much Gokhale had already raised.

What is amusing is that the platform, which has now mysteriously disappeared, was also used by then CPI leader (and now Congress leader) Kanhaiya Kumar, Aam Aadmi Party leader Atishi Marlena and even Dr Kafeel Khan, who is the prime accused in the 2017 Gorakhpur oxygen crisis case.

OurDemocracy, Crowdnewsing and curious Congress connection

OpIndia dug a little deeper into the crowdfunding platform and found some curious connections. Former NDTV journalist, Bilal Zaidi, who had also worked with channels such as Times Now and WION, started the platform ‘Crowdnewsing’ with one Anand Mangnale, an online crowdfunding platform for independent journalists. This was back in 2017.

However, just before the 2019 general elections, they decided to expand the platform and changed it to ‘ourdemocracy’ and provided the platform even to politicians like Kanhaiya Kumar, Atishi Marlena and unemployed individuals like Saket Gokhale who had quit their jobs for filing RTIs full time.

When Saket joined TMC, he was lauded by the cofounder of OurDemocracy platform.

Other notable people who have used “OurDemocracy” platform are Congress leader and Independent MLA from Gujarat Jignesh Mewani, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and former JNU student and protestor Shehla Rashid, who had used Crowdnewsing, the pilot version of OurDemocracy.

Now, Crowdnewsing as well as OurDemocracy platforms are both unreachable and defunct. And while these platforms have been inaccessible for months now, the social media handle of OurDemocracy, has still not put out any public message explaining why the platform is inaccessible. Last tweet on OurDemocracy’s verified Twitter account was on June 24, 2021 asking to donate to a campaign by Dr Kafeel Khan, while Crowdnewsing’s last tweet was on 10 June 2019, where it shared a clean-chit given to itself and Shehla Rashid by a self-proclaimed fact-checking website in an old controversy about misuse of funds.

Interestingly, Shehla Rashid was also accused of misappropriating the funds she had collected in name of Kathua rape and murder victim on the platform which was later used by Gokhale. Media reports had claimed that though lakhs of rupees were collected for the family of the victim, but the family had claimed that the funds never reached them. Rashid had denied the allegations and later stated that the money was delayed because the family did not have a joint bank account and PAN. NewsClick later published a report where the family had allegedly claimed that they did indeed receive an amount of Rs 18 lakhs later.

What is more curious here is that Anand Mangnale, the cofounder of Crowdnewsing as well as OurDemocracy, had planted himself in WhatsApp groups in January 2020 during the violence that took place in JNU where he appeared to be coordinating the violence that was taking place on the campus.

Anand was seen asking members of the group that some people in support of JNU are coming to the main gate, should we do something there? The chilling message was from a group called ‘Unity against Left’, thereby implying that the sender of the message was ‘against Left’ and hence by default ABVP, the students arm of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

The number which Barkha Dutt inadvertently shared on Twitter belonged to Anand Mangnale. A Google search of the same number revealed it was the same number Congress had used for a crowdfunding campaign.

Anand’s number on Congress campaigns

That page has now been taken off. Anand Mangnale has previously worked with TMC’s poll strategist Prashant Kishore, who had earlier worked as strategist for ex-Congress President Rahul Gandhi in 2016 ahead of Uttar Pradesh state assembly elections. OpIndia could not independently verify whether Mangnale was part of team for Rahul Gandhi’s image makeover.

Anand Mangnale

Anand Mangnale had then admitted to having ‘infiltrated’ a WhatsApp group to ‘keep students safe’.

To conclude, one ‘journalist’ Bilal Zaidi gets together with Anand Mangnale, who worked with TMC’s Prashant Kishor, and the duo start a ‘crowdfunding’ website crowdnewsing in 2017. In 2019, they expand it and make it ‘ourdemocracy.in’, the crowdfunding platform is used by Modi-haters like Saket Gokhale, Jignesh Mewani, Kanhaiya Kumar, Shehla Rashid, Manish Sisodia, Atishi Marlena, Dr Kafeel Khan and others which gives legitimacy to the platform. Of these at least two people are accused of not being transparent in the money raised by them.

Now, suddenly both the platforms are not reachable. OpIndia has reached out to Bilal Zaidi, cofounder of Crowdnewsing as well as OurDemocracy. We shall update the report once we hear back from him.

Punjab: Video of dhaba worker in Patiala seen spitting on tandoori roti goes viral, Health department alerted

A video of a dhaba worker from Patiala has been making rounds on social media in which he was seen allegedly spitting on the dough while making tandoori roti. Reports suggest that the video was from a dhaba near Sheran Wala Gate. It is unclear who and when the video was recorded.

After the video went viral, the Health Department raided the dhaba but could not investigate as the Dhaba was closed. District health officials said they would conduct the raid again. Meanwhile, Jagran reported that a group of people, including residents and shopkeepers of the area, approached the dhaba owner over the matter. The dhaba owner refuted the allegations and claimed the dhaba worker was not spitting on the roti. It looked like he was allegedly spitting because of his way of making roti.

Speaking to OpIndia, SHO Kotwali said no complaint had been filed at the Police Station in the matter.

Spitting on food made to headlines in 2021

In 2021, many cases came to light where dhaba workers, bakery workers and fruit-vegetable sellers were seen spitting on food items. The accused, in many cases, were from a particular community. The first such case was reported in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, where one Naushad was caught on video while spitting on roti during a wedding function. Interestingly, a section of media tried to give it the colour of Islamophobia and gave excuses such as video was old.

Mob attacks police team and thwarts the arrest of a drug peddler in Delhi, four cops injured: Watch shocking visuals

On Saturday (January 1) morning, the anti-narcotics team of the Delhi police came under the attack of a frenzied mob while trying to arrest a wanted drugs supplier by the name of Dharamvir. The incident took place in Inderpuri in West Delhi.

As per reports, the police team reached Inderpuri at about 8:30 am to apprehend the accused. The operation was led by Inspector Brijpal. At that time, Dharmavir (also known by his alias of Palla) was not at his home. The cops, nevertheless, continued with their search operation. The accused had a non-bailable warrant against him in connection to a narcotics case.

The video of the incident was shared on social media by News Nation journalist Madhurendra Kumar. As evident from the visuals, the police team came under a volley of stones, following which Inspector Brijpal fired at the accused. In a tweet, Kumar wrote, “The anti-Narcotics team of the Delhi police was attacked. They had gone to the JJ Colony in Inderpuri. The police resorted to retaliatory firing. Two people have been injured. Family members of the criminals accused the cops of loot and misbehaviour.”

According to DCP (outer north) Brijendra Kumar Yadav, when the police team came out of Dharamvir’s house, they found a mob of 50-60 people waiting in their anticipation. They were armed with stones and sticks and were being led by the accused. Reportedly, they ambushed the police team and began pelting stones at them.

DCP Yadav said, “When our team members fired some rounds in the air in self-defence and to disperse the attackers, bullets were fired at them from the mob. Showing courage, Inspector Brijpal fired bullets aiming the legs of the attackers and saved his team members.” During the confrontation, four police officials, including an inspector, were injured while two accused namely Shoaib and Amit sustained bullet wounds.

All injured policemen and attackers were admitted to a nearby hospital. The narcotics drug supplier, Dharamvir, was able to flee the scene. According to a police officer, Amit is a relative of Dharamvir and has been associated with 6 crimes, such as attempt to murder, dacoity, and robbery. A police case was registered in connection to the incident. The cops are now trying to nab Dharamvir and those who were a part of the frenzied mob.

Asaduddin Owaisi takes on Akhilesh Yadav, reminds him how he and his father became CMs with the vote of Muslims

Amidst the rising fervour of the state legislative assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, political parties are rushing to secure their vote bank and propagate their election agenda. On the same note, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi is continuously addressing elections rallies in the state, and in such a rally on Saturday, he launched a fierce attack on Samajwadi Party and BJP. Owaisi reminded Akhilesh Yadav that SP came to power in UP with the help of Muslim votes, and accused the Yadav family of sending a Muslim leader Azam Khan to jail while themselves are enjoying life.

Gandhi no bigger than Muslims

Owaisi addressed a rally on Saturday in the Behat Vidhan Sabha constituency of Saharanpur District where he fiercely targeted SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and BJP. In his speech, Owaisi said that Gandhi is no Bigger than Muslims. He reiterated that if Gandhi is abused and any Muslim is abused, both are to be treated equally. He was referring to the arrest of Kalicharan Maharaj by Chhatisgarh police for criticising Gandhi, saying that similarly the speakers in Varanasi Dharm Sansad also should be arrested for anti-Muslim remarks. Seeking support from Dalits and Backward classes, he said that no one will look for them and their rights if they don’t elect him as their leader.

Owaisi coins Yadav-Muslim Equation

Targeting Akhilesh Yadav, Owaisi said, ‘Yadav sahib, the accusation has become a part of the life of the Muslims of India, now we will not worry about the accusation. Listen, Akhilesh Yadav, we don’t need any certificate from you. I will go to the public and talk about my heart. What will you give, you are 11 per cent Yadav, we are 19 per cent Muslim? If you became the Chief Minister or Mulayam Singh became the Chief Minister, then remember this was made by Muslims donating their votes’.

He further said, ‘Akhilesh sahib, the blame lies only on us, you do not have to feel anything? You build a riverfront, build a road from Lucknow to Kanpur, there is no blame on you, build roads, do everything. Your ten fingers were in ghee, but Azam was accused of stealing goats and stealing buffaloes.’

Asaduddin Owaisi also said that while he is called fanatic, there is no arrest for talking against Muslims in the Dharma Sansad in Varanasi. ‘When there is talk of killing Muslims, no action is taken. This is not the India which we liberated with our blood’, he said.

In a recent incident, interestingly, while Owaisi played the victim and filed a complaint, leading to an FIR for the speeches of leaders like Yati Narsinghanand and other Hindu leaders in Haridwar, no FIR has been filed till date against him for this provocative speech on 12th of December that he delivered in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

Asaduddin Owaisi kickstarted his UP elections program in September 2021 by attacking the secularism of the country. He had then said that BJP had undermined the secularism of the country.

Sticking to his agenda of polarising Muslims, Owaisi has taken up the issue of Babri demolition in various rallies and urged young Muslims to get married soon and raise a family. Recently he slammed Rahul Gandhi for listing ‘bringing Hindus to power’ as the ‘secular agenda’ for 2021, especially when his party- Congress- was the one to ‘fertilize the ground for Hindutva’.

Pakistani forces and Taliban clash again over border fencing issue, soldiers also clash with Pakistani Taliban: Details

For the second time in a week, Pakistani forces clashed with Taliban at the border over fencing at the Durant Line. Pakistani forces were reportedly trying to put up barbed wire fencing. Reports suggest that the Pak forces tried to extend fences 10 KM inside Afghanistan territory. Talibs retaliated and tore down the barbed wires. Both sides had earlier clashed over a similar issue in the eastern Nangarhar province on December 22. Afghanistan’s Khama Press reported that Talibs uprooted the barbed wire and brought it with them in Afghanistan.

Videos of the incident went viral on social media platforms where Talibs could be seen threatening Pak army personnel with harsh repercussions if they attempt to install barbed wires across the border.

The Durand Line

The 2,600 KM international border was drawn by British civil servant Sir Henry Mortimer Durand in November 1893 after signing an agreement with then-Afghan ruler Amir Abdur Rahman. Afghanistan has repeatedly said it did not recognize the border line and objected to Pakistan’s attempts to fence the border. Zabiullah Mujahid, Chief Spokesperson of the Taliban, had asserted the same in September after Talibs took over Afghanistan.

In other news, on December 31, four Pakistani soldiers were killed by the Pakistani Taliban at the Afghan-Pak border. The Pakistani Army has termed it as the deadliest confrontation between Talibs and Pakistani security forces since a truce was called off around a month ago. Reports suggest that the Pakistani security forces had raided two hideouts of Talibs near Afghanistan in district Tank and North Waziristan. In Tank, two Talibani terrorists were killed while one was captured in North Waziristan. Four soldiers were killed in the latter.

The Pakistani military said the soldiers were killed during an intense exchange of fire at Mir Ali town. In both raids, the Pak army allegedly seized arms and ammunition. Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), an armed militancy group of Pakistan that shared roots with the Afghan Taliban, said in a statement that one of the hideouts were raided by the Pak army. TTP is the same organization that killed 150 children in Peshawar, Pakistan, in 2014.

In November, TTP and Islamabad agreed to a truce, but it fell through in early December. TTP had accused the Pakistani government of violating the terms of the truce.

TTP is not the only opposition Pakistan is currently facing at the Afghan border. Earlier, it was reported that TTP snipers had killed two Pakistani soldiers. In retaliation, the Pakistan army fired mortars at the Afghan border that agitated the Taliban that started hitting Pak’s forward posts at Durand Line.

‘Mad because Republicans can’t date me’: AOC goes unhinged over criticism of being maskless amidst rising COVID-19 cases

On Thursday (December 30), US Representative and Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) was spotted ‘maskless‘ with her boyfriend Riley Roberts at a restaurant in Miami Beach in Florida. AOC came under fierce criticism from Republicans for being maskless, despite being a strong advocate of mask mandates.

The US Representative was criticised for her ‘winter getaway’ in Florida at a time when her Congressional district of New York has been reporting a daily average of 28,400 cases. New York also has strict masking and vaccine mandates for businesses, a decision supported by AOC. However, Florida has no mandatory face-covering rules due to an executive order [pdf] signed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in May last year.

AOC was thus questioned about her dual standards when she was spotted without a mask at the Doraku Izakaya and Sushi restaurant in Miami Beach. After being caught off guard, the Democratic leader went on an unhinged Twitter rant about the ‘sexual frustration’ of Republicans instead of answering direct questions about the duality in her masking patterns.

War of words between AOC and Florida Governor

While reacting to the news about Cortez’s winter getaway on Friday (December 31), the official Team account of Governor Ron DeSantis tweeted, “Welcome to Florida, AOC. We hope you’re enjoying a taste of freedom here in the Sunshine State thanks to Ron Desantis’ leadership.”

A day later, AOC responded, “Hasn’t Gov. DeSantis been inexplicably missing for like 2 weeks? If he’s around, I would be happy to say hello. His social media team seems to have been posting old photos for weeks. In the meantime, perhaps I could help with local organizing. Folks are quite receptive here :)”

Her potshots at the Florida Governor were based on the fake news that DeSantis had been missing for 2 weeks while, in reality, he was busy accompanying his wife for her cancer treatment.

Republicans are sexually frustrated for not getting to date me: AOC

Former Trump campaign adviser, Steve Cortes, posted a picture of AOC and her boyfriend Riley Roberts on Twitter and stated, “If Leftists like AOC actually thought mandates and masking worked, they wouldn’t be frolicking in free Florida. Her guy is showing his gross pale male feet in public (not at a pool/beach) with hideous sandals.”

On reading this, AOC went on a rant about the sexual frustration of Republicans for not getting the opportunity to date her. She wrote, “If Republicans are mad they can’t date me they can just say that instead of projecting their sexual frustrations onto my boyfriend’s feet. Ya creepy weirdos.

Screengrab of the tweet by AOC

The US Representative further claimed, “It’s starting to get old ignoring the very obvious, strange, and deranged sexual frustrations that underpin the Republican fixation on me, women,& LGBT+ people in general. These people clearly need therapy, won’t do it, and use politics as their outlet instead. It’s really weird.”

Screengrab of the tweet by AOC

On being told by the Editor of the Daily Wire, Ian Haworth, about his reluctance to date her, AOC claimed, “I’m glad you felt the need to share that with the world. Don’t worry, this is a totally normal thought to have and share as an editor of a right-wing website, and totally doesn’t prove my point at all. ‘I hear if you say it enough times you’ll actually start to believe it.” She then went on to blame ‘conservative news sites’ for creepy and concerning news headlines about women in politics.

Saudi’s ban on Tablighi Jamaat shocks Islamic nations in Indian subcontinent, fear other nations may follow suit

After Saudi Arabia warned its citizens against affiliation with Tablighi Jamaat and called it ‘one of the gates that lead to terrorism’, the Islamic nations and leaders have expressed shock, especially in the Indian Subcontinent. According to the European Foundation for South Asian Studies, it has also directed the media attention towards the organization’s presence and functioning.

The EFSAS stated the Saudi religious leaders had seen Tablighi Jamaat as deviants for long mainly because of the fact that the organization “does not see eye to eye with the kingdom’s own established revivalist movement, popularly referred to as Wahhabism”.

Reaction from Islamic nations and leaders

The Islamic nations like Pakistan and Muslim religious bodies fear that the ban imposed by the Saudi government would have an adverse impact on the sizeable presence and activities of the organization in the Indian Subcontinent. There is a possibility that other nations in the region may follow the lead of Saudi Arabia as it is considered to be an important leader of the Islamic world.

Initially, Pakistan tried to stem a confusion following the ban that Saudi did not ban Tablighi Jamaat but a Nigerian terrorist group called Al Ahbab. However, it did not work as Pakistan would have anticipated. Later, Pakistan reacted to the ban with a confrontational tone and called out Saudi leaders. The assembly of Pakistan’s Punjab province unanimously adopted a resolution and termed the organization ‘a force for good’.

The resolution read, “Tablighi Jamaat is a global organization. It has nothing to do with terrorism. History has shown that these people have never been involved in such activities. They are earning goodwill for Pakistan with the preaching of Islam all over the world”. It is noteworthy that the same Punjab assembly had banned Tablighi Jamaat from universities and mosques around universities in 2016 as it was sympathetic towards extremist outfits.

Islamic leaders in Bangladesh and India reacted sharply to the ban as well. Mahmudul Hasan, chairman of Al-Hayatul Ulaya Lil-Jami’atil Qawmia and president of Befaqul Madarisil Arabia Bangladesh, claimed the decision would benefit those who oppose Islam. Mufti Yusuf Asad, a prominent Islamic scholar from Mumbai and founder of the online Islamic University Al Ilm Acad, alleged that the decision proved Saudi Arabia was a slave of the West.

Sameeruddin Qasmi, spokesperson of the Tablighi Jamaat of Hazrat Nizamuddin Markaz, claimed the organization has no connections to terrorists. He said, “It is a big allegation on the Tablighi Jamaat. It has no connection with terrorism. Tablighi Jamaat is the group that stops terrorism, condemn terrorism and disowns terrorism. We don’t allow anyone to speak against any religion, community or country. We talk only for five pillars of Islam, none of our men has ever been found involved in any terrorist activities. The Saudi government might have been misled.”

Saudi Arabia’s ban on Tablighi Jamaat

On December 6, the Saudi Arabia government warned its citizens about Tablighi Jamaat and declared that affiliation with religious partisan groups of Tablighi and Da’wah is prohibited in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In a tweet, the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs said, “His Excellency the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr Abdullatif Al Alsheikh directed the mosques’ preachers and the mosques that held Friday prayer temporary to allocate the next Friday sermon 5/6/1443 H to warn against (the Tablighi and Da’wah group) which is called (Al Ahbab)”. Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs further stated that the Friday sermon must declare the misguidance given by such Tablighi groups and call them threats to society and one of the gates that lead to terrorism. It is notable that TJ was banned by Saudi Arabia long ago. The December 6 orders were to warn people against having affiliations with this group.

Tablighi Jamaat’s links to radicals

Notably, while the Islamic nations and religious leaders claim Tablighi Jamaat has no connections to terrorism, Pew Research Center has drawn attention to the fact that its followers have been accused of having ties with radical organizations.

Formation of Tablighi Jamaat

Tablighi Jamaat, a Sunni Islamic missionary movement, was founded in 1926 in Mewat by Maulana Mohammed Ilyas Khandelwi. Its roots can be traced to the Deobandi tradition that originated from Darul Uloom madrassa in Deoband, Uttar Pradesh. Since its formation, the organization has expanded its presence across the globe. It claims to have over 400 million followers in 150 countries. Pakistan alone is said to have over 20 million Tablighi Jamaat followers.

Nations that have banned Tablighi Jammat

Saudi Arabia is not the first nation to ban the organization. The movement has been banned in Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Russia. In 2013, Kazakhastan designated it as an extremist organization and imposed a ban on its activities in the country.

Gujarat: AAP leader Isudan Gadhvi was drunk when he created ruckus at BJP office, medical report says

On January 1, Gandhinagar Police booked Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Isudan Gadhvi under the Prohibition Act. The Police has said in a statement that Gadhvi’s medical report from December 20 allegedly showed 0.0545 per cent presence of alcohol in his blood. Gadhvi was released on Sabarmati Central Prison on December 31 on conditional bail.

Pradipsinh Vaghela, police inspector, said in the complaint, “Based on the victim’s complaint, an FIR was lodged against Gadhvi, and a medical test was conducted under the medical-legal case… His blood sample was sent to the Directorate of Forensic Sciences. The report which came on Saturday showed 0.0545 per cent alcohol.”

Isudan Gadhvi, however, said that he does not understand how his alcohol report came positive even though he had not consumed alcohol. He even swore on his children that he had not consumed alcohol. His party chief Arvind Kejriwal, too, used to swear on his children only to do complete opposite later. Kejriwal had sworn on his children that he would not ally with either BJP or Congress. However, in 2019 general elections he had reached out to Congress to become part of the anti-BJP alliance, which Congress snubbed.

“My Goddess Mogal will not forgive you, from today your descent will start,” Gadhvi said.

Gadhvi was detained following a complaint by a female BJP worker

On December 20, Gadhvi was a part of the AAP group protesting against the state government in BJP headquarters in Gandhinagar against the leaked examination paper. Shradhha Rajput, BJP worker, alleged that during the protest, Gadhvi misbehaved and sexually harassed her in a drunken state.

She stated that Gadhvi misbehaved with herself and her colleagues. When they asked them to maintain decorum, they allegedly continued to misbehave. She also said that the women workers of the Aam Aadmi Party then assaulted them and hit them with sticks. Rajput further alleged that after the crowd dispersed, Gopal Italia and Isudan Gadhvi both misbehaved with her, and she has filed a complaint regarding the same. Based on her complaint, a medical test on Gadhvi was conducted.

Gadhvi, on the other hand, claimed he never consumed in his life and alleged the FSL report was fake. He blamed BJP for playing “low-level politics”.

Yogi roars in Rampur, reminds Akhilesh about the firing on devotees of Ram by the then SP government

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, while addressing a public meeting on Saturday, 1 January 2022, in Rampur, said that Akhilesh Yadav and SP would be too busy making cemeteries to be able to think of building the Ram Mandir. Yogi gave a befitting reply to Akhilesh Yadav who has recently claimed that he Ram Mandir in Ayodhya would have been built in one year had there been a Samajwadi Party government in the state.

Yogi Adityanath said that when Samajwadi Party was ruling the state, their government had ordered to fire on the Rambhakts and today they are claiming that they would have built the Ram Mandir within one year. Yogi Adityanath has put this change to the credit of the people of Uttar Pradesh.

In November 1990, Akhilesh Yadav’s father, Mulayam Singh Yadav had ordered firing upon Karsevaks during the Ram Janmabhoomi movement.

Forget waiving the bills, Akhilesh couldn’t even provide the electricity

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also destroyed Akhilesh’s efforts to allure the voters by promising free electricity. Yogi said, “We have provided electricity in the seventy five districts of Uttar Pradesh. I was going through the reports today in which I found Akhilesh Yadav claiming to provide free electricity if his party comes to power. But forget waiving the bills, when he was in power he couldn’t even provide electricity. Instead they used to extort the common man’s money and they should actually apologize for the same,” he said.

He further added, “What free electricity he was going to promise when there used to be no electricity in the state. Rather it was just the one way that is extortion of money from the common man. Today we can say that there is no discrimination in Uttar Pradesh while distributing the electricity. Even poorest of the poor living in a hut has the same electricity distribution as that of a rich sitting in his mansion.”

Rampuri knife does good only when in wiser hands

As the public meeting was in Rampur, Yogi Adityanath did not forget to mention about the famous Rampuri knife. He said, “We had launched an innovative scheme in Uttar Pradesh which is named as one district one product, in which one product from every district is promoted. When I pondered a thought for Rampur, I recalled nothing but the famous Rampuri knife. But how this knife should be used? I remembered Guru Parampara which says when a weapon is in hands of wise people, they use it for good tasks like protecting the country and people; but if the same weapon is in the hands of wrong people, it is used to loot and terrorize the people and snatch the properties and holdings of the oppressed classes. Once there was a time when Rampur was known for the knife that was used to save the poor, but when SP was in power, the same knife had become a tool of terror to loot the poor and snatch their properties, lands and holdings.

He further added that the one who used the knife in a particular way, had to pay off for his deeds, obviously implying towards the arrest of Azam Khan who is the local SP leader of Rampur.

Karnataka: 49-year-old Sharif Siddique arrested for sexually abusing a Christian woman for 4 years after getting her addicted to drugs

A Muslim man in Mangaluru was recently arrested by the police for sexually assaulting a 27-year-old Christian woman for many years after her mother had sought the Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s (VHP) help citing police inaction. According to the reports, Mohammed Sharif Siddique, 49, a resident of Chokkabettu, had been sexually assaulting the woman for four years after getting her addicted to drugs.

The victim’s mother had written a letter to the VHP seeking their intervention and stated that the police and her community leaders were not helping her. “Siddique used to take my daughter from her home. He along with his friends kept her with them for days. I have complained to the police as well as our religious leaders but no action has been taken yet. As per my information, Siddique has already married thrice and he has ruined my daughter’s life as well,” the letter by mother read who sought help from Vishwa Hindu Parishad to protect her and her daughter from Siddique.

After the letter went viral and VHP raised the matter, the Surathkal police registered a case under Sections 354 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and arrested Siddique. City police commissioner N Shashi Kumar said that he has been sent to 14 days of judicial custody. According to police, the accused is already married three, and already two drug peddling cases are registered against him.

A police officer said that Siddique was giving the victim sedatives so that he can easily control and sexually assault her. He had also allegedly taken her to his place and kept her confined for days. The victim’s mother had earlier complained to the Mangaluru south and Urwa police, but after failed to act on it, the woman sought VHP’s help, the police officer added.

The victim woman is currently being treated at a counselling centre, and after her treat, cement, her statement will be taken and the probe will move ahead.
